Diaper cake?

Has anyone ever made/recieved/seen one of these? It's shaped like a wedding cake and made from diapers with little baby items for mom to be. My friend is expecting and I'll be hostessing the shower and I'd like to make one of these (they cost about $100us to buy pre-made). It's supposed to double as a centrepiece and a gift. I was wondering if anyone's made them, how easy was it? And do you have pics? And if you know anyone who has gotten one what did they think of it? And if you've never heard of them would you like one of these as a gift?

This is a diaper cake Phen had at her shower. It looks pretty easy to make and simple.

I made one just like the one of Phen's. Its super easy. I took an empty paper towel roll as my guide. The bottom layer had diaper rolled 3 deep. middle layer was 2 deep, and the top layer was 1. I rolled and tied mine with curling ribbon in the middle to make it tight, and covered that up with the ribbon just like in the picture. I did not add decorations other than a little turtle at the top of the cake. HTH!

Wanted to post another idea. I heard about these through a friend and these things are so cute and creative! It's basically a bouquet made of baby socks and washcloths, like this:

It works great as a "new Mommy" gift, I've given these to two new Mommies already (brought it to the hospital) and both times it was a huge hit!
Another friend of mine is due to give birth soon and I ordered a blue one and it just came in last week and it's SOOO cute! It can also double as a baby shower centerpiece.

I received one for an office shower a couple weeks ago and loved it. The only suggestion I would make is to include a note with the size of the diapers.

This is the diaper cake I got from one of my baby showers. I loved it. There were so many things to use off of it and it served as a great centerpiece. The only bad thing was that I liked it so much I didin't want to take it apart:)

These aren't diaper cakes but they are made out of diapers :o I did one for my cousin, BF boss, and my sister had one. We hung it on the door at the hospital and baby shower...
