Charting Our Course to the BFPs
http://www.ripleysorlando.com/images2/fertilitystatues.jpg
The fertility statues are known to work for some who rub them around the time of possible conception.
It is said that the baby is the most potent part of the statue.
So rub away! :D It's worth a shot!
Who we are:
This is a group of women using charting (temperatures, CM, CP, OPK/FM results, or a combination of these) to try to conceive and, along the way, are learning a heckuvalot about their own bodies! Many of us use a software program to keep track of our charts as well as allowing us to share them with each other. The most common ones are FertitlityFriend.com and Ovusoft.com.
Your threadmistresses for this thread are MSH and Sare79.
To our members:
This thread gets very busy at times, so in order to keep things less overwhelming and a bit more organized, we start a new thread each month as well as after 3 BFPs. A link to the new thread is always posted at the end of the current thread to help everyone find their way over. The threadmistresses would really appreciate it if everyone would post their updates in Red. That way, if we get a bit behind, it is much quicker to get the thread up-to-date.

KNOWLEDGE IS POWER!
Want to join the fun??
We welcome one and all. It doesn’t matter if you have never charted before or if you’ve been charting to avoid. I am sure you will find lots of help and support in this group.
If you would like to join, CD1 is the time to do it! That way, we can cheer you on
throughout your cycle, rather than 2 days before you test!
Please don't be discouraged by the number of posts in this thread. You don’t have to read the whole thread to join. Feel free to just jump in on the last page. Just read through these first couple of posts and post a reply with the following information and we will get you added right away. Of course, none of this info is a must but we like to know a little bit about one another.

Things I Have Learned About TTC
by WC's Sherylb
* TTC is a journey. You will discover things about yourself that you never expected. You will face fears you never thought you had. You will find joy in little things.
* TTC can bring you closer to your DH, or it can pull you apart. If your marriage is not solid, you will find out quickly.
* No one understands exactly what you are feeling at any given moment, but someone can empathize at least a little bit.
* You will experience an emotional roller coaster ride. There will be highs and lows and fast moments and slow. Sometimes you have to wait in a very, very slow moving line. You may not even get the seat you want. It is not always fun, it can be scary, but in the end it is worth it.
* "Just relax" is the last thing in the world you want to hear from someone, but it is OK if you say it about yourself.
* There will be moments when you question your own decision to start TTC. You will wonder if you should wait or if you should just give up. Those are normal. But you will get past those feelings.
* The blue and green turtle likes to pop its head out! You will hear of someone's pregnancy and turn green with envy and blue inside because it isn't you.
* It isn't fair, it isn't easy, and it isn't pretty. But you keep doing it because the reward is worth it.
* You will be your best friend and your worst enemy. Your body will
surprise you and yet disappoint you.
* Some women do get lucky and conceive right away. Others aren't so lucky and have to struggle to get there. Hope you will be in the first category, but prepare yourself to be in the second.
* Once you decide to TTC, there will be babies and pregnant women everywhere! You could swear there is a baby boom going on!
* You will have questions. No one will ever be in exactly your position, so don't be surprised when no one can give you exactly the answer you are looking for. But there are people that can contribute, so don't be afraid to ask!
• Two lines on a pregnancy test is not the end of the struggle. Pregnancy has lots of struggles in and of itself.

- Common TTC abbreviations
This is a list of some of the more common TTC abbreviations. I know as a newcomer to the TTC threads, it can be hard to keep them all straight. I hope these will help, and if anyone has any they would like added, please let me know!
•2WW: "2 week wait" - The approximate time from possible conception to menstruation due date; Pregnancy tests should be taken near the end of the 2WW.
•AF: "Aunt Flo"; Your period; Menstruation
•AFNW: "Aunt Flo Not Wanted"; the day your period is expected to start, but you are hoping it doesn't!
•AO: anovulatory (cycle without ovulation)
•BBs: "boobs"; breasts
•BBL: "be back later"
•BBT: Basal Body Thermometer; This is used to measure your basal body temperature, when you wake up in the morning, after at least 3 hours of sleep, before you start to move around; Use a special BBT thermometer to take your temperature because they measure the small changes in temperature from day to day more accurately than the regular fever thermometers.
•BCP: Birth control pills
•BD'ing: "baby dancing"; baby-making intercourse
•BFN: "Big Fat Neutral" or “Big Fat Negative”; Negative pregnancy test.
•BF'ing: breast-feeding
•BRB: "be right back"
•CD: cycle day; a particular day in your menstrual cycle (example: CD1 is the first day of your period)
•CL: Cover Line; a visual tool used to separate the low (pre-ovulatory) temps from high (post-ovulatory) temps; a coverline is typically based on the temperatures 6 days prior to ovulation.
•CM: cervical mucous; one of the most useful clues your body can give you in predicting your fertility; it can range from dry, creamy, sticky, or (the most fertile) egg white/watery type.
•CF: cervical fluid; same as cervical mucus
•CP: cervical position; an optional, but sometimes really useful, fertility sign; CP will generally be low, firm and closed before and after ovulation, and high, soft and open during your fertile time.
•DD: "dear daughter"
•DH: "dear husband"
•DS: "dear son"
•DPO: Days Past Ovulation; number of days from your post-ovulatory temperature rise. (Example: 1DPO is the day after your ovulation)
•Endo: endometriosis (can be a fertility problem)
•EDC and EDD: estimated date of confinement (antiquated, but still used by physicians) and estimated date of delivery
•EPT: a brand of pregnancy test, or, generic for "early pregnancy test"
•EW or EWCM: egg white cervical mucus; the most fertile quality CM; it is slippery, clear and stretchy, like egg whites; also EWCF
•FAM: Fertility Awareness Method; the method of fertility and/or birth control that correlates the physical changes you experience during your cycle to predict when you are most fertile
•FF: Fertility Friend, an online (free, for basic services) fertility charting site (website); (could also be formula feeding; check context)
•FM: fertility monitor
•FMU: first morning urine
•FP: follicular phase; the phase before ovulation, where the egg matures in the ovaries
•FRED: First Response Early Detection (pregnancy test)
•HCG: human chorionic gonadotropin; the hormone that is present during pregnancy and what the HPT's and blood test measure to determine if you are pregnant
•HTH: "hope that helps"
•HPT: home pregnancy test; a urine pregnancy test you can take at home
•IMHO: "in my humble opinion"
•IMO: "in my opinion"
•IUI: intra-uterine insemination
•IVF: in vitro fertilization
•KU: knocked up
•LH: leutenizing hormone; the LH surge is what is measured by the OPKs; this hormone signals the egg to burst from the ovary
•LP: luteal phase; the phase of your cycle that begins just after ovulation and continues for 10-18 days, ending with the start of your next period; during the LP, your body continues to build up the lining of your uterus, and produce hormones which would support a pregnancy; this is the time when a fertilized egg can implant into the uterine lining
•NFP: Natural Family Planning; similar to FAM, but with abstinence during the fertile period
•O, Oing, Oed: ovulation, ovulating, or ovulated
•OPK: ovulation predictor kit; tests for presence of LH surge that usually precedes ovulation by 12-48 hours; these tests are quite expensive and not always accurate (if you take medication or depending on your age); these are optional when charting with FF, but if your fertility data is not clear it can bring more light and help interpret difficult cases
•OS: Ovusoft; charting software based on TCOYF
•PCOS: polycystic ovarian syndrome (a fertility problem)
•PG: pregnant
•PIAC: pee in a cup
•POAS: pee on a stick
•RE: reproductive endocrinologist
•SA: semen analysis
•SH: "sweet husband"
•SO: "significant other"
•SYS, SYL : See ya soon! or See ya later!
•TCOYF: Taking Charge Of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler; a book and website about charting and fertility.
•TMI: "too much information" - There is no such thing when TTC!
•TTA: "trying to avoid"
•TTC: "trying to conceive"
•TTFN: "ta-ta for now"
•TTYL, TTYS: "talk to you later" or "talk to you soon"

Well last night was our first official attempt at TTC I am CD 11 today. My husband was so cute after we BD'd last night...he looked at me and said "I think you are pregnant now ( kind of like "ok my work is done now" :D )...of course I told him that isn't how it works...LOL. I really don't know if he believed what he said he was just really cute when he said it.
I have a question though. How often should we BD (ie, everyday, every other day, twice a day) until LH surge is detected (opk +) and then how often after that until ovulation is confirmed by three high temp above the coverline?
I was thinking every other day until the LH surge is detected and then every day until ovulation is confirmed (3 higher temps). But then what if I miss my opk surge and I never get a positive opk. So many questions..
Thanks for any info you can give me>
Threadmistress please change me to "waiting to O". Thank you!

My temp went up! My temp went up! :D I'm so excited! Even though I knew I O'd due to the HCG shot, it was still nice to see confirmation of that on my thermometer. Especially since last month my temps didn't go up till about a week after my doc thinks I O'd. I'm really excited and hoping that this month I don't have any of the worries that plagued me before. Here's hoping for a nice long LP and, of course, a BFP! :)
My DH asked me last night if I felt pregnant. He said, "Do your boobs feel sore? Are you nauseous? Do you feel any different?" I told him, much to his disappointment, that it was way too early to tell. It was cute that he was so excited, though. He really can't wait to be a dad.
Jenzen, ah, sponging crusty eye goop..... that's why we're all here, right? :p
octoberkate, I only know one woman who had a totally normal cycle her first month off the pill, so don't worry too much! Hopefully you'll get regular soon!
polkadot & ptcrn, your charts look great! I'm crossing my fingers for you.
MichelleRenee, isn't it amazing how much you can learn about your body that you never knew? I've been giving my mom little lessons on stuff - she had no idea about most of what really goes into getting pg. She was one of those lucky women who wanted to get pregnant, and did right away!
Kristie, it's hard not to get impatient. I think the statistic is that most couples will get pregnant within about 6 months of starting TTC (someone correct me if I'm wrong). But every bit helps, so I hope the cups work for you!
lawgirl, lol, we know what you mean. Be careful not to wear yourselves out before you get near your O date. BDing can get tiresome after a while!
Mrs Jackson, yes, O'ing can cause spotting. I hope your temp jump is good news!
Delaney & gmb, I'm so sorry.
spencer's girl, WOOHOO, CONGRATS! H&H 9 months to you! :D
Quartercentury, I'll be testing around then, too. I hope I can last that long!
Ilovemygeek, good idea. Cycles this long made me crazy, and I'm so glad I saw my doc when I did!
Deanna, I'd say go every day till you see a + OPK, and then every day till your temp goes up (no need to wait till you get 3 high temps in a row, by the time your temp goes up you've already O'd and the window is closed). If you don't get a + OPK, then you can start BDing every day around the time you know you should O based on past charts. If you don't have past charts to go on, you can figure it will be anywhere from CD13-19 or so. That's a long time, so every day might be too much. But don't worry, those little guys can live for days, so even if you just BD every other day, you're still covered!

I'm here although I haven't checked in for a while! I don't think this was our month. We went to visit our families for ten days over the holidays. This resulted in lots of family drama and stress, poor sleep cycles, a broken thermometer and lack of BD opprotunities during O time. The holidays were too much stress to add TTC to the mix. I guess we will find out next week. Otherwise it is on to February!
Threadmistress please move me to 2WW
Di Hope you are feeling better or that the doctor had some information on what is causing you so much pain.
Deanna Welcome to TTC! Hope your stay is short and sweet!
octoberkate Good luck! You never know what might happen!
polkadot, ptcrn & gymwidow I am crossing my fingers for you. hoping that this is your month.
Kristie I think we all know that impatient feeling. I have never heard of the cups- I have to go check out drugstore.com.

Morning ladies and a big CONGRATULATIONS to spencer'sgirl! Woo Hoo! Now there's a good way to start the New Year!
Nothing much to report in my neck of the woods. I'm guessing that I'm actually in the 2ww now... except based on our extremely poorly timed BDing, I'm not actually "waiting" for anything except to start over again next month. That said, I'm willing to take one for the team - please send AF over my way so I can get started trying again, no reason that she needs to visit anyone else this month when I'm practically rolling out the red carpet for her.
Hmm,I've got a conference call in two minutes that I SO don't want to be on. Talk to you all later.

Wow. This thread moves so quickly.
Congrats to spencer's girl!
I had a temp rise this morning, but I think it might be because of my cold. I started getting one yesterday, and my neck is all swollen and sore. Ahhhh ... gotta love winter flu season.
That, and we haven't seen the sun since well before Christmas. I kid you not. We're stuck in some yucky weather pattern of cloudy days and drizzling/freezing rain. It's downright depressing.
So, I said I wasn't going to temp during the luteal phase, but I can't stop. :) I also said I wasn't goign to test unless AF was late, but I might just change my mind on that one, too. :)

Wow. Ask and you shall receive! Why doesn't it work that way with getting PG??:p
I am on CD18 and I still think I could ovulate any time now so I'm trying to stay ready. I am going to use my first OPK today. I'm just so bored with waiting... hurry up O!!

Hi everyone!
The pain I was feeling was muscular.
Who feels like a big dork? Yeah, that would be me.
*sigh* :o
I absolutely love my new OB/GYN. She is very friendly and helpful and didn't brush aside my concerns. She said that if I'm still not PG in 4 months (12 months total TTC), that we'd do the semen analysis and some tests on me (I forget what they're called!). She also recommended using OPKs ("throw out your chart!"). I'm going to keep charting and use the OPKs. ;)
I bought OPKs while waiting to get my hair cut at the mall. Of course CVS' bags are see-through so my hairdresser started talking to me about OPKs and getting PG. It was funny.
I'm on CD 25, supposedly 16 DPO. I haven't tested since Monday and probably won't again unless I don't get my period by Tuesday (CD 30). Temps still hanging in there, BBs still uncomfortable.

dionysia Wow -- 16 DPO and not testing! A will of iron!!
And good decision on staying with charting. I don't understand what docs have against charting! For one thing, anyone who says it's "unscientific" is dead wrong -- several medical journal studies have shown that it works.
Plus eggwhite CM is actually a better predictor of when to BD than OPKs are, since OPKs don't turn positive until the day before O (and sometimes the day of, which is too late).
It's weird -- my IRL friend who did an IUI said that they usually do the IUI two days after a positive OPK, which is probably too late. What are they thinking????

thanks for all the nice thoughts girls....i really hope the dip wasnt just a dip but i am trying not to make too much of it....this morning was really weird....Brian works nights so he doesnt get home until 4:30 in the morning...well this morning when he got home he woke me from a very peaceful sleep well i went back to sleep and had the most vivid dream.i was very excited abou taking my temp this morning so that i could see if it went up and that may have triggered the dream but here goes....
**Dream**
I wake up and immedialty hop out of bed and dont temp....i walk into the bathroom and there on the countertop is a BFP....i was very calm m walked over to BRian and said "look" he says yep, youre pregnant! Then i start to freak out b/c i didnt temp and he says dont worry about it you are already PG...and then i look at the test one more time...its still a BFP ...
and then I wake up....it was so weird I have never had a dream like that before....just thought i would share that TTC gets so engrained in your life that you subconsiously dream about it....but then again...doesnt everyone?

octoberkate, well then, wishing that AF shows soon and leaves fast!
Jenzen, lol, I made the same pledges to myself and am likely to break both! I hope you get some sunshine soon!
Sare79, that's good!!!
dionysia, maybe you didn't O as early as FF thought? What happens if you discard the temp from CD9? It looks like maybe CD15 could have been the day?

I just got a positive OPK!!! I am so glad I bought these! I was going to wait until CD19 to try one since I tend to O around CD23-24, but I thought today was a good day. So at CD18 I got a 100% positive OPK. Time to BD!!! :D

I also was thinking you might have O'ed later than your chart shows, especially since your temps really don't go up significantly until CD15 and after. Did FF give you the crosshairs or did you put them in yourself?

ETA: Bellefior, those crosshairs were from FF.
Hopefully next month I'll be able to better gauge O date with the combo of charting and OPKs. :)

Hi - we're not yet TTC (I guess I am a Lady-in-Waiting) - but I am ready to start charting. Hopefully we will start TTC sometime this spring and I would like to start charting now so I can get an idea of what is going on. We won't be TTA - nor TTC.
Can I come here while I try to learn about charting? (I expect AF within the next week and plan to start FF on Day 1.)
I'm sure you're all a friendly bunch, but if you'd prefer I wait till we are officially TTC - I'll understand.
Thanks!

Wow I didn't even realize there was a new thread already. This place moves fast.
Well I am 6DPO and have been calling my OB all day to schedule a HSG but the line is busy. I am not sure I would trust my temps from here on out as I am getting a bad cold, which may be making them false highs. We'll see I guess.

Does anyone know if hiccups are a sign of ovulation approaching? I'm just wondering because I know I am close to Oing and I have had the hiccups about 5-6 times today. Thinking back, that does happen to me every once in awhile and I was wondering if maybe it was always around Oing and I just never knew it.

Michelle I can't help you out with the O symptoms since I seem to have none. But I would think that it wouldn't be impossible. With our bodies it seems just about anything is possible!
MrsJackson I have my fingers (and toes) crossed that you O'd!
Polkadot I hope your dream comes true! I had a dream sort of like that in my last 2ww. It was SO real that I woke up and just had to go POAS.
lawgirl I am so glad that I'm not the only one! You are much farther along in your cycle than I am , so I think having them overnighted is total justified!
cowgirl Good luck with the OPK's!
RobynScott ITA about the TTA thread. That's where I lurk when I have charting concerns or questions.
di I discuss TTC with my hairdresser every time I go in. I am even going to lend her my copy of TCOYF if she hasn't gotten her own. And if I get my BFP before her I'll lend her my fertility monitor as well.
bellefior My temps are always all over the place before O. I see all these pretty charts on FF and wonder why mine can't look like that. Luckily I still have a very definiterise in temps after O.
Deanna What your husband said is too funny. Dh talks to the sperm afterwards, sort of a pep talk I suppose. He would die if he knew i posted that.
Whew, sorry if I missed anyone.
Nothing happening here. CD 4 and AF is packing her bags! I can't believe I used to endure 7-10 days of AF with my IUD. I don't think I can ever go back to that.
In non-TTC related news.... I gave blood yesterday for the first time and PASSED OUT! Not because I was squeamish or anything, but I think I didn't rest long enough afterwards or eat enough before. For the full (and I mean full of details) story, I put it in my journal. I still don't feel quite normal today, so I am trying to take it easy and have a bit more sugar than I usually do (which is none).

Michelle, interesting symptom!
Wow, this thread does move really fast. Congrats spencer's girl! :)
I'm on CD 15, waiting to O. My temps have been fairly consistent although they did rise a tiny bit this morning. I've been a little stressed at work recently so I wouldn't be surprised if I O'ed later this month but who knows. This is my first month that I'm really charting on a consistent basis so I'm just trying to get a feeling on when I O more than anything else. Of course, that being said, if we did get pregnant this month (not likely but you never know) that would be great too! :)
Has anyone else been drinking more grapefruit juice lately? I've heard it can increase your EWCM a bit but I don't know. I may try the Robotussin tip next month to see if it works.

Yikes, my first post in this thread and it's already on page 6!!
Still waiting to O here, CD8. I'm going to pick up more OPKs this weekend (I seem to get a positive OPK around CD18 or 19), so I've got a while before I'll start using them.
Even so, DH seems to think the more the better and I've had to push him away lately and tell him to "save it"!
One really weird thing this week, I'm just done with AF, but my temps are still really high. They went down a lot during AF, but have since climbed back up, and the only thing I can think of is that I've gotten back into my workout routine, and it's elevating my temperature through the next morning. Is that possible?

This is our first month off TTC and I have found myself thinking about how exciting it would be to get pregnant on the first try. I know that the chances are low but does anyone have any words of wisdom concerning how I can guard myself from utter disappointment. This is just a really exciting time for us and I want the feeling to continue so bad.
Things I do know...
1) My cycles are normal...as per my ob/gyn.
2) I have plenty of EWCM. I have to say eating carrots and drinking grapefruit juice everyday has really helped. I didn't do that last cycle and I had very little EWCM (and less days of it too as compared to the first cycle I charted). Also I think staying hydrated has helped.
3) My DH is onboard with the frequency of BD. Although I wonder whether BD'ing everyday..lowers the count of his "contribution" (trying to figure out a way to write this without getting kicked off the boards...LOL).
Does anyone know?
4) I was able to detect the LH surge the first cycle (OPK's). Not so lucky last cycle but at least I know it is possible. I probably am going to spend a ton of money on those tests. I am becoming an addict.
Anyway thanks for letting me ramble. Any words of wisdom on how to protect myself from being disappointed (if it is actually possible...I am doubting that it is possible)?

Just checkin' in and subscribin' to the new thread.....
I tested this morning @ 11 DPO - BFN. Not really surprised, as this is our 8th month TTC. My LP averages 12 days and I usually start spotting a day or two before, and so far nothing at all. I suppose if there's no sign of AF by Monday then I'll test again. I did a chart gallery seach in FF and there are more charts than not with a BFN @ 11 DPO and a BFP a few days later. I'm trying to relax, but it's hard to do. We have an RE appointment scheduled for Monday, Jan. 16th to look forward to.
Good luck to polkadot and di...hopefully your testing leads to beautiful BFP's!

The best thing to do is to not let your mind get the better of you and to not overanalyze what your body is doing.
I can give this advice, but I'm not good at taking it. I have been feeling all sorts of possible pregnancy symptoms for the last few days, but I am waiting until I am at least a few days late on AF

Hi girls. I am currently a member of the SWH thread, but I have been doing that for 5 months now with no results, so I am thinking about charting. I have been temping each morning first thing, and just read on FF today that I am supposed to have a special thermometer! How important is that and if it is, where do I find one? Thanks! If it doesnt happen for me this cycle I will probably be joining yall!
Sare79

It's called a basal body thermometer and you can find them for about $10-15 at almost any drugstore.
They can tell your temperature to a tenth of a degree, as opposed to regular thermometers which can be a bit harder to read.

wow, new thread already! Happy 2006 everyone!
DH and I are back from a 2 week trip to Taiwan/Japan. While I tried to chart faithfully, it was a little bit haphazard (with my waking times being different).
Here's a link to my chart (http://www.ovusoft.com/forum/chart.asp?id=polarama). I spent this morning putting in the temps (I had been logging them on paper) and am filling in the misc info like time temps were taken, days we traveled, etc. My temps basically stayed pretty steady, thought my CM definitely changed. We'll see. Perhaps I will just have to chalk this cycle up to a learning experience and be more consistent next month.

Polkadot, Keep your chinny chin up, girl! Your chart still looks wonderful! I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you!
MichelleRenee, It does get tiring, doesn't it? I never thought that I would say that, but sometimes I just can't help it. :p
Sare, you know that I'm all tangled up crossing my crossables for you! I can't wait to get back and see your test results. I'll say a pray or two for you!
As for me ladies, I'll be leaving in the AM for a week-long training in St. Louis. I won't be able to check in on this thread, but I'm hoping and praying for all of you girl that are testing soon.
I'll be back on the 15th for catch-up! Now, I'd better go spend some time with my hubby before I leave him to be a bachelor for a week.

Threadmistress... please move me to "Think I O'ed- testing 1-19"
I got my crosshairs, but my OPK results do not confirm my temp shift. (that what FF says)
BTW.... according to my crosshairs I O'ed on the day of the hiccups!

Michelle- Glad that you O'd... I read in TCOYF that some women get Hiccups as a sign of their ovulation... I was just reading that this morning, refreshing my memory... anyhow pretty cool
By the way, I believe that sometimes you can get a positive OPK after you have ovulated as the FSH comes down. The good news, is that even if you O'd later than FF says (it has been known to smoke crack at times :D ) - you BD timing is pretty darn good. Did you get an Excellent rating? ;)

congrats polkadot!!!
I was actually going to say that you were testing too early - I know that *some* women can get really early results, but from what I've been reading/seeing, it seems like anything before 14dpo is going to be negative more often than not - so waiting to test after 14 days seems like it can cause less heartache! (of course, I know that I will be testing at 10 dpo myself, but hypothetically, it makes sense!!! darn emotions!! :)
***************************
also - I was going to ask - could people change their chart settings on FF to publiush intercourse data if they haven't already? I know it's personally helpful to me to see when people are timing things, and since you're on this thread, I doubt that it's really something to feel embarassed about!! thanks :)
***************************
my cycle is being annoying so far... I've had a few really "wet" CM days, and the usual breaking out on my back/chest... but no positive OPKs, or temp rise. Which I guess is good - because according to past cycles, in all likelihood I know I won't be ovulating until wednesday at the earliest. But I am just so impatient! going to start using the pre-seed monday night, I think... and BD all week long!!! ;)

Polkadot, CONGRATS!!! I am so, so thrilled for you! Maybe being threadmistress does help.....
CT's_punkin, no I didn't get an excellent rating. I got the same old "good" rating I always get. But I'm still hopeful. I just wish our timing was different because every other cycle our timing has been 0-2 and then 0 but that's it. This time, if I O'ed when FF says I did, we did 0-2, 0, and 0+1 which seems the same to me. I just want this so bad....
As usual I don't know how to feel today. As I was driving home from work I got a feeling that I am getting excited over nothing and it won't happen this month but then I looked at my chart again and it made me feel hopeful. At least this 2ww is down to 10 days now! Yippee!

Is it crazy to be excited about a 2WW? I am actually excited. I can't wait to see what happens.
I am really afraid about not having BD'ed enough. What does everyone else think (check out my tcoyf chart...alittle more complete). Also deciding about whether to BD again tonight or tomorrow morning..or could we take a break till tomorrow night..depending on DH of course. If my temp rises alot should be even bother? I really need some guidance in this area.
Michellerenee I know the feeling. I also catch myself doubting our chances this month, but then I find myself getting excited again. I am taking each day as it comes. ..even if it is torture.
jbmommy..have fun with the bd-fest. We are at the tail end of ours.
lawgirl4... both of my charts have intercourse data listed..at least this cycle I have it listed. I didn't list it the last two cycles because we weren't TTC till this cycle.

I'm on CD33 here and I am still feeling the sore boobage. It has been a few days, and the last time I felt this much pain there was when I went from my training bra to the C cup in what felt like overnight! I have never had that as a predictor for AF. Also don't have the AF pimple I usually get- maybe being the threadmistress is the indicator of pregnancy. I have a few other things that make me feel like this is it, but I'm waiting a few more days.

Sare - You are very brave to wait on testing. Fingers are crossed for you. :)
Rachel - I'm sorry AF showed, but I'm glad you reached the end of that cycle. I know how frustrating it can be to have no idea when AF's going to show.
Deanna - I'm excited about my 2WW, too! I don't think I'm pg, but I'm so glad that my cycle wasn't crazy long, and that I know that I O'd. And, of course, there is a chance I could be pg. It is exciting!
Michelle - We're on the same day of the 2ww, so we can be testing buddies when the time comes. :)
QOTD: At what point during the 2WW do you start to alter your behavior, if at all?
Rationally, I know that the embryo is not even implanted until 8-12 DPO (or something like that) and that there is no shared blood stream until 17 DPO or something. But it seems like a lot of gals stop drinking during the 2WW. I'm not sure what to do. The thing is, if getting pg is going to take awhile, I don't want to have to act pregnant for two weeks only to find out I'm not. And my friends will notice if I don't drink, and will immediately assume I'm pregnant, which can be a little touchy. But I don't want to do anything that's unhealthy for the baby. Can anyone provide concrete information, not just conjecture, that says that one shouldn't drink during the 2WW? Those who've been through 2WWs, what do you do?
MichelleRenee

Mimi:
My personal feeling is that it depends on your comfort level. If (god forbid) you were to m/c would you blame that drink/dying your hair/cleaning your kitty's litter box?
If so, then don't do it. I think about all the women in the world who weren't trying to get pregnant, and they go drinking, just to find out they are pregnant a few days later and everything is fine.
I want to make sure that I wait about 12DPO before testing.

Congrats Polkadot!!!! Have a very wonderful 9 months!
I think this link will work for my chart:http://www.fertilityfriend.com/ttc/index.php?d=2006-01-11
I'm 9dpo and holding out. It's weird--my temps have been coming in at 97.9
(although I did chug ice water and take my temp--96.5 so I don't *think* it's the thermometer). I have a cold (boo!) and have been sleeping with my mouth open. Maybe this is a good thing, I'm not relying on my chart. After taking 8 cycles to concieve DS, I had stopped temping after confirming ovulation. I should probably do that again. It keeps me a bit more sane.
mimieliza I don't have any links, but I've heard/read exactly what you posted. Implantation ~10dpo (average) and the mother and baby don't share blood until ~18dpo. I do think it's comfort level. Could you nurse one drink all night long and get away with it? I used to do that. Take one beer and carry it around with me all night. After awhile I gave up on that (we weren't getting pg) and drank anyways in moderation.

MSH Congrats on being the new threadmistress. It seems to bring great luck.
lawgirl There's absolutely nothing to feel embarassed about when you share here. We're all here for support and advice. Let me know how difficult those cups are to function. Mine are en route and I hope they make it here in a few days.
Mimi's QOTD:
I drink in moderation during my 2ww. I don't drink much anyhow so this probably amounts to 2 glasses of wine of 2 beers the entire 2 weeks. I still clean the litterbox and lift heavy objects and so on. I agree with everyone else that you should do whatever you are comfortable with. Maybe you could ask your doctor if you need reassurance. My cycles are so short that I would live half my life "pretending" I was pregnant if I gave up everything for my 2ww.
Hanging out on cd 7 here. I am thanking God for my short cycles. I can expect to O within the next 10 days so it will be time for the BD fest to begin shortly. Let's hope my goodies arrive in the mail before then.

WOO HOO and a big Congratulations to Polkadot! Here's hoping that you have a H&H and easy nine months ahead of you!
Re: the QOTD - when I got pregnant with my son I drank during the 2WW - in fact, maybe around 8 or 9 DPO one of my best girlfriends had a little party, just for a few of her galpals, where we watched cheesy movies, painted our nails, drank a lot, ate bad food, and dished on the men in our lives for hours. I probably had 4-5 beers that night. Normally I don't drink much alcohol at all so it wouldn't be unusual now for me to not have any during the 2WW. For me now the big killer is my caffeine intake. I drink a lot of coffee and diet coke. I will probably try to start weening off of that totally (just because it's healthier to not be as addicted as I am to the caffeine). And if the total break takes a while I will especially try to stop drinking it around 10-12 DPO. In fact, when I got pregnant with my son my family all guessed that I was pregnant because they couldn't fathom any other reason for my bizarre behavior of turning down my favorite beverages.

Hi ladies! Happy Monday. :p
6DPO here and just waiting for the FPS to start. I keep trying to be hopeful about this cycle, but can't shake this feeling that it's just not gonna happen. I go tomorrow for 7DPO bloodwork to check my progesterone and after I get my results I'll email my doc about taking supplements. I know he doesn't want to prescribe suppositories for me (which is fine by me!) unless we know I need them, but I don't to just wait and see if I have another short LP - why waste a cycle?! So I may ask if it's okay for me to get and use one of the OTC progesterone creams you can find at the pharmacy. Anyway, I plan to wait until at least 12DPO (Sunday) to test. DH is just as anxious as I am!
Polkadot, I knew it! I am soooooo happy for you! Congrats. I did add you to my prayers the last few nights and I'm so glad to see that you got your dream. H&H 9 months to you!!! :D

hi everyone :)
QOTD - I am not a big drinker, either of alcohol or caffeine. Thus, I don't have much to contribute here... however, if I did drink either regularly, I probably would try to cut down during the 2ww - not cold turkey, but just try to gradually cut back.
kristieb - I think you misunderstood my request - I wasn't saying I am embarassed, I was just suggesting that perhaps some people are, and that's why they don't publish their intercourse data. I am all for full disclosure!
And on that note - I am not 100% sure about those Instead cups. I tried to use one last night (just practicing, I think I am still a bit too far from my O-date, but I thought I'd try it out!) and it can be a bit tricky to insert it in such a way that you are sure that all of the semen remains on the inside - rather than the outside - of the cup, depending on where the semen is... (this would be an example of me not being embarassed to disclose any info!). I can see it being useful if one were to have her husband ejaculate into the cup, and then insert it - you'd ensure that it would be inside and making contact with the cervix.
I think the best thing to do, actually, would be to do a headstand for like 5 minutes (against a wall) so that you know that the semen is as close to the uterus/cervix as possible, and then quickly insert the cup before it has time to drip down. I'd be interested in hearing from anyone else who has used the cups for tips/suggestions!

Good morning, everyone!!!
I have something to show you:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v469/dionysia/BFP.jpg
Today is CD 29, 20 DPO (assuming an O date of CD 9).
All weekend I've felt like AF was about to arrive. Had some cramping, felt 'leaky.'
Temps were staying up, but I expected them to crash down any day now, since my cycles have been ranging from 25-30 days.
I could have sworn that AF started during the night last night, but when I woke up this morning to temp, nada. I had tested previously at 10 DPO and 13 DPO, but after that decided to test only when AF was officially late. For some reason I decided to test this morning, even though AF is not officially late.
The + came up before the control window was even saturated!
For my records: the only pregnancy symptoms that I have had that were different from regular cycles were tender and full-feeling breasts from about Christmastime. They didn't hurt, per se, but were very sensitive. I also gagged when smelling yogurt and taking out the trash. All my other symptoms (e.g., heartburn, cramping) I've had other cycles.
According to pregnancy wheels online, I'm due between 12 - 18 September (depending on if I use the date of last period or the date of O).
I guess I better call my OB/GYN again!!!

Big congrats to Di and Polkadot! Awesome!
Threadmistress, please move me to I think I O'ed, testing around 1/19
I was feeling very hopeful about this cycle until last night, when I saw some brown stuff in with leftover EW. This is exactly the way it looked for me two cycles ago when I had spotting the entire LP, for 9 days straight. I am hoping it will stop. I just want a normal-looking cycle!
Stress may have something to do with it -- right before O we found out that our house fell out of escrow. We'd accepted an offer on it before Xmas, and then they backed out. At first they said they wanted us to fix a bunch of stuff that wasn't broken -- to the tune of several thousand dollars -- but later it came out that their son (who was going to live here) didn't get the job he thought he would. We don't even get any of the deposit back. I didn't know this until I was on the seller's side, but a buyer can back out for any reason in the first 12 days of the escrow and still keep the deposit. Weird and unfair, but true.

01-09-2006, 10:11 AM
congrats Di! I hope you have a happy and healthy pregnancy!
jeant - I also had a ton of spotting pre-AF last month, and I agree with you on the stress factor... DH and I were traveling in India at the time and while we had a wonderful time, it was rather stressful as well! It was the only cycle where I have had such early spotting, so my guess is that stress played a role.
how rotten about your house situation! grr.

I've been holding off on drinking anything this morning so that I can do an OPK before 1pm - very eager to see how it turns out!

01-09-2006, 10:26 AM
Thanks, lawgirl!!
Good luck with the OPK! About that -- I've heard varying things about when to use it. Some people say around noon; others say it's better to wait until late afternoon.
I found the not drinking anything and holding it for 4 hours thing to be just about impossible. I usually drink a lot of water, and plus, when you've got to go, you've got to go.
And then post-O, if I would go to the bathroom and see very yellow pee, I'd think, "Wow, that would have been good for an OPK." Ha! You know you're going crazy with TTC *when* ...
MichelleRenee
01-09-2006, 10:33 AM
It is hard not to drink water when you know that drinking lots of it will help your CM but drinking too much will alter your OPK results.
The longest I made it without peeing was about 3 hours and I got a very dark positive, after drinking water all morning, and at 11:45am.

CD 3 here, boring. This month I am not going to worry so much about limiting my water intake just so I can see a good positive OPK. I need some good CM, so I'm going to do everything I can to increase it! My O is pretty much always CD 14 or 15, so my plan is just to BD every day from day 12 until my temp rises. And use tons of Preseed if I don't have any EW. Hopefully this will work! I may also use the Instead cups... those of you who are using them, let us know if they end up working well. They look so awkward!
Good luck to everyone testing soon!
