Hey All,
I was reading in one of my magazines about a 14-day body-cleanse regimen. It's supposed to clean out your intestines of all the gunk built up in there...
Has anyone done this? Any specific remedy you'd recommend? Brand or herb?
Thanks,
Trish

A couple my mom knows swears by cleansing and have had great results. My mom tried it but couldn't handle the taste of the actual cleansing drink. Still, I'll ask her what brands/books they were following so that you can look into it more. I'll try to update tomorrow.

I did an herbal cleanse called SuperCleanse for the Colon. If you do a cleanse, make sure you're going to be close to a bathroom! Almost everyone in my family has done an herbal cleanse (specifically the ones from Nature's Secret (http://www.vitaminshoppe.com/store/en/browse/brand.jsp?b=Nature's+Secret)). I like them because most of the time, you can still eat and drink natural items. I personally can't do any kind of fast or withhold food from myself.

I think I might try it...let me know which one they used, kithara.
I have to go read up on it more, but I'd love to hear any and all experiences!
THANKS!

I did one just before Christmas "Frist Cleanse" I think it was the same brand that Kellijo14 did, just milder.
I was advised to take a fiber supplement with it and drink LOTS of water. SO I did. And while I felt 'cleaned out' I don't know HOW effective it was. Not like really strict cleanse would be. TMI: Things seemed to be normal, just much more frequent.
I too, can't do anything that requires you to eat only apples, or no food until 8pm etc. I would much rather eat healthy while trying something like this.

One of my mom's friends did this and got everyone in her group hooked. My mom never tried it, but I heard some pretty powerful stories about it:
1. One of the ladies had a big huge round ball thing come out of her that was a huge mound of poo. Supposedly had hair and all wrapped up in it.
2. Another woman said worms came out with her poop. Who knows if that is true.
Basically I have heard some horrific stuff coming out of people's body. One woman said the smell was overwhelming!

That is seriously nasty.

2. Another woman said worms came out with her poop. Who knows if that is true. This is far more likely to be true than the first one; and if she had worms (pinworms, hookworms, whatever) then she has a lot more problems than needing a cleanse. My brother and I both had pinworms when we lived in Singapore as children ... from playing in a pond that was partially fed by a sewer line. Both are spread by contamination by fecal matter containing the eggs of the worm.

Never in my life have I ever heard about this until now and I must say that this is an interesting topic. What exactly is the purpose of cleansing out your colon or intestines? What are the benefits? Is it safe?

Trish - just wanted to let you know that I didn't forget about this thread. I sent an email to my mom yesterday, but she hasn't gotten back to me yet. She may be out of town, but I'll update you as soon as I hear back.
I did an herbal cleanse called SuperCleanse for the Colon.
Kellijo14, how long do you usually take the colon cleanse pills? I bought the SuperCleanse for the Colon from Trader Joe's and have been taking them for about 4 days now. I also only take them twice a day since I'm scared of 'too much' of a good thing if you know what I mean.

Hey, it wasn't me that it happened too, but I have heard some pretty nasty stuff and I tend to believe some of it has to be true. I would never want to actually SEE any of it for any reason. Take a look at this website:
http://www.drnatura.com/?ovmkt=U9ED9PJTFPM5CE4PJQCEE2MRUK&OVRAW=colon%20cleansing&OVKEY=colon%20cleansing&OVMTC=standard
Some of the stuff that people talk about is nasty, but pretty interesting if it is true!

I took them for a week, at night on an empty stomach. I only took one each night because that's all it took.

I asked my uncle about this the other day (he is a Dr.) and he said that most of this stuff is BS. Increasing water intake will do the same thing (a hydrated colon can help w. the elimination process.)
He also said that "impacted feces" only happens when there are actual ruptures / holes / pockets in the intestine, and these are rare (and serious).
But what goes in / comes out and in relatively the same order.

My boyfriend's mom and a few of her sisters to The Master Cleanser. Its basically fasting during the day with only drinking this liquid stuff that you mix and then eating one real meal at night. You can find the info from a google search. She has had good results and keeps wanting me to try it, but i just cant bring myself to drink that stuff.
