Yesterday was a lazy morning and I went back to bed after getting up early and having a bowl of cereal - I woke up though (lying on my right side) feeling dizzy. It wasn't a wave of dizziness like I was going to pass out - it was just like my vision was going up and down as if I was nodding my head up and down. As soon as I moved, it went away, but I couldn't get comfortable again because every time I'd almost get cozy, it would start again.

(BTW, I'll be 18 wks PG tomorrow and have experience noticeable tummy growth in the past week and a half.)

I tried to take a nap today - it happened again! On my right side w/ two pillows, my left with two pillows, lying sort of on my left propped up with a pillow so I wasn't flat on my back. It didn't happen the night before when I went to sleep, or when I'm lying on the couch or anything. It's more annoying than scary, but has anyone had this happen? I plan on mentioning it to my doc on the 12th when I go in to find out the sex, but it's annoying. I wanted to take a nap SO badly but it just wasn't happening.

I'm neither an expert or pregnant, but my aunt experiences this on a regular basis-- and it's due to vertigo. Something about crystals forming in the inner ear, or something

I would recommend going to dr :( Hope you feel better!

Thanks for the reply - it's the strangest thing, but it's only happened twice. Not consistently each time I lay down - and I've never been dizzy while standing/walking/sitting upright (unless I got up too fast. hehe).

I've got a regular pg doc appt next week so I'm going to wait and talk to him then.

I'm not pregnant, nor have I ever been...so I'm no expert, *however* my co-worker is pregnant right now and just started experiencing really bad dizziness as well. She went to the doctor and found out her blood pressure was *really* low. Low blood pressure isn't necessarily as bad as high blood pressure, but she still have to have an MRI.

Might be worth going to doctor to get checked out.

Dizziness is common in pregnancy, according to my OB. You have a lot more blood volumn now, and that can cause dizziness as your body adjusts to it. However, fainting isn't, except in the movies. So, if you have a fainting episode, call your OB. I didn't really have dizzy spells, but I have fainted, it was simply due to very low iron.

I am not pregnant but I do have Menieres disease and along with that comes vertigo attacks. I've heard vertigo can happen to pregnant women as well, even when they've never had it before. Best advice though, IMHO, is to keep yourself hydrated and stay laying down until the symptoms disappear.

Hope your're doing well!
