I just did Billy Blank's Total Body Fat Blaster for the first time, and OMG I want to pass out! I don't know if this is right, but my activity points counter (Weight Watchers) is telling me I got 8 APs for it! That's amazing!
Who else here is a lover of Tae Bo? What videos have you done? Which one is your favorite?
I LOVE TAE BO!! Nothing else seems to kick my butt as hard as this does!! I have the advanced videos and I have a list of them I should be getting from Netflix soon. I can't wait!! I would much rather earn 8 AP for 40 minutes of working out than 2 ap for walking on my treadmill!!

Wow, I had no idea they were on Netflix! I'm going to have to create a list now :)
I did Tae Bo the first time yesterday, and now I'm soooo sore!!! Owww :(

Before I was pg, I did Tae Bo at least a few times/week... *nothing* kicks my butt like Tae Bo! I had the old advanced series.... after the baby gets here, I'd like to get started again, but I am sure that I will have a lot of endurance to build up!
I never seem to build up enough endurance to make it all the way through..no matter how much I do them. That's what I love about them. I always have something to work for. The first time I did it I collapsed onto the bed when I was done and told my DH "That man is trying to kill me" LOL.
udsweetpea Yeah, they have quite a few on Netflix. I have 5 or 6 on my list. I love being able to change it up without having to pay money to buy them.

I did Tae Bo a few years ago, and really liked them. I had the original tapes, but I keep seeing infomercials for the bootcamp videos and am curious to try it. I eventually stopped doing them because we moved to a new apartment and I had absolutely no room to move around. I was so busy trying to figure out how to position mysellf so I wouldn't kick the wall that I couldn't concentrate on doing the moves properly.
I lost a good amount of weight and my metabolism went up a lot, but it was starting to make me bulky. I switched to pilates (again, mostly the space issue) and that's my main exercise now.

I pretty much live across the street from Billy Blanks' studio. I took a Tae Bo class with his step-daughter Shellie last night! (The blond girl.) I love Tae Bo, but I can't say I've noticed any tremendous results, other than my endurance getting better. How long did you girls do it before you noticed results? How many times a week?
I've only taken a few classes with Billy - but it's really fun. He's super motivational. After each class he asks if there's anybody new there, and he gives a pep talk to the class. He says that the mind controls the body. He says "What my body looks like today is where my mind has put me. What my body looks like tomorrow is where my mind will put me." and "If you keep doing what you've always done, you'll keep getting what you've always had." That has been such a motivational concept for me!
He's also a Christian; there's a few Bible verses up on the walls. And he's just generally a nice guy! Most of the classes are taught by his family - his stepdaughter, his two brothers, and his sister. I like supporting a wholesome, family business! (It is $11 a class! )

I'm a huge Tae Bo fan! I also have NetFlix and am currently doing the Fat Blasting Cardio DVD at home with one of my friends. I can make it all the way through and have been doing it for about a month now. I'm about to move on the the Tae Bo II - Get Ripped series which is next in my queue. I find it has made the most difference in the toning of my butt and thighs. I also see a huge difference in my stamina.
BTW - I always wondered who Shelly was. She's in a bunch of his videos and I never knew they were related. Would love to have her body!

I have the BootCamp DVDs, and honestly, I don't like them nearly as much as the original Tae-Bo. I lost 25+ pounds my freshman year of college by eating less and alternating the original advanced video and basics video. Unfortunately, I got the original video dubbed from someone, and it went bad about 6 months ago. . . . therefore, I bought the BootCamp DVDs.
I don't really like the BootCamp videos, as the first DVD seems to have much less cardio in it than the original series did--it seems to focus mostly on toning types of exercises.
Also, I'm short (5'3") and I have to hold the resistence bands oddly (ie, incorrectly) in order to get them to work properly, and most of the time, they still aren't taut enough to work. Anyone have any suggestions? I usually go without them, as they just don't seem to do a whole lot anyways.
I am going to keep at it, but I don't think that this particular program is right for me.
Anyone have any suggestions for a single DVD I can buy in-store that gives you a good cardio workout? I really do like Billy Blanks and since it worked before, I'd like to try again!!

I love Tae-Bo, and I always enjoy doing his tapes. I actually started to lose some of my love handles when doing his videos on a regular basis. I lost them in a move, but I am ready to get going again!
I, too, always needed to stop during his sessions, but I have taken a few kickboxing classes at the gym lately, and I love how the instructor pushes us. Maybe I just need to be pushed!

i just started the bootcamp series last night - i cant wait to go through the whole series. so far its kicking my butt and thats after just one night!
i've done the original tae-bo workouts and those were really good and i also tried the crunch - awesome! the 8 min workout is great if u dont have much time on hand.
i have gained some weight and am really motivated to get it off and i know this is one way to do so...he is extremely motivating on the tapes.
okay so i am off for my hour long work out now!

Tae Bo totally kicked my butt - in a good way!
I was doing them two years ago and I got in great shape. I thought I had checked that Basic tape out of my apartment's library, but once I started doing it, I realized it was the Advanced tape in the Basic box - oops! I just followed along the best I could. And afterwards, I felt really energetic. But then my hours changed and I didn't have time to do them anymore and I got all squishy.
I loved how Billy Banks motivates you. He knew the precise moment to give that little encouragement you needed.
I've been working out at a gym lately and it's good. But now that you reminded me, I want to dig out my old Tae-Bo tape.

I totally know what you mean. He'll get in the camera and say "I'll put my forehead on your's and we'll work together". And it always comes at the right time!
I'm getting ready to do my Tae Bo workout now! My favorite is the Total Body Fat Blaster. I got Cardio Circuit 1 from Netflix the other day, and I'm waiting to try that.

OMG, I loooove Tae Bo! I started them back when the first ones came out. I also have the Tae Bo Live tapes that I got some nice definition using. But I have since "fell off the wagon." I need to lose about 10 lbs, so I'm glad I found this thread. Maybe it can motivate me to get off my butt and do the Live tapes again.

*BUMP*
I just started back up with my old school Tae Bo tapes, but I'm in the market for some new ones to update, freshen up and add some variety.
Any suggestions? What's the deal with the Boot Camp? How about Get Ripped? I think I'm gonna go on Ebay? But I wanted to check here first to see what the smartest, most informed ladies on the internet thought!!
Anybody still using Tae Bo?

I *hate* Tae Bo. That's how I tore my ACL a couple of years ago. Be careful about doing it on carpet. When I wound up in the hospital they told me they saw a ton of people in the ER for torn ligaments and whatnot because Tae Bo requires a lot of planting of your feet and it's really rough on the knees if you're doing it on carpet where there's not a lot of give.

Yup, I love taebo. I have the Get Ripped Advanced I and II workouts. The II workout is a lot harder, I think. I also have his Cardio workout and his Flex workout.

I like Tae Bo too but have any of you tried Turbo Jam? I like it better than Tae Bo. The music is awesome and the instructor Charlene is relly motivating like Billy Blanks. I feel like I get a better ab workout with Turbo Jam but that's because some of the moves are more ab focused.

Thanks for the input ladies. I think I'm going to get a new Tae Bo series. The one I have now is super old.
justHB sorry to hear about your torn ACL. I was doing it on carpet years ago, but now I'm on hardwoods. I can see how carpet would be a problem though I didn't think about it before you mentioned it.

Thanks for the heads up, HB! I have been having a lot of knee problems lately. I wonder if it has anything to do with Tae Bo!
