kat- they are simply perfect. What gorgeous babies you have. I hope you're getting lots of rest, and help, with your mom there. "Detached" is exactly how I felt. You nailed it. I'm so glad you had that Baby Story love though. You worked damned hard for those kids - you deserve it.

I have to say, the March babies (even if it is February) are some of the most gorgeous babies I have ever seen. Seriously, all of them are AMAZING.
Kat and Tgal~ Thanks for sharing pictures of your beauties. I'm so happy for you guys.
I had my 37 week appointment today- full term, eek! Not much to report- they didn't do an internal- I'll get one next week. Everything else was normal. The doctor said he felt fairly confident that I would have a March baby, though you never know and all would be well if I went today.
But since we haven't had the room painted yet (this Saturday) and I don't even know WHERE our furniture is right now (not at the store, yet), I'd rather we wait until March. :D
mom2amelia~ Thank you so much for that perspective on your feelings. I am so glad you shared that with us.
honeybee and aprilshwoers~ sorry about the versions. Your babies will be perfect, though, no matter how they get here.

Tgal and Kat - what beautiful babies!!
ajb524 - Yay on homecoming date for Sean...
mom2amelia - Echo everyone else's sentiments...thank you so much for sharing your experience. I fear I won't have the emotional response everyone expects - having played the scenario in my head hundreds of times of the baby being put in my arms for the first time and feeling nothing...nice to know this isn't an unusual reaction...
Elenitsa - We received a Kiehl's gift basket, but also have a bunch of Mustela, Burt's Bees and J&J products...we'll see what DB prefers.
Work surprised me today with a party/shower...so sweet and I was completely clueless....heading home now...did a big Fresh Direct order to stock up the freezer!
eta - has anyone heard from Tunibell?

brooke - Still here! I've been reading along; just been a lazy ass poster. ;) Today is actually my first day on maternity leave, and I've already sanded, painted, and will soon assemble a bookcase. I'm now on my way to the grocery store to get ingredients to try to make homemade potstickers. Sadly, I don't think any of this qualifies as nesting; I'm just not very good at loafing around (unless there is wine involved, and then I'm very good at loafing :) ).
Absolutely nada going on with me baby-wise. I've got an appointment on Thursday, but that's about it. Will be back soon to continue to ogle all of these beautiful little people!
I haven't been around much. I've been very busy getting everything prepared at work for my leave. My last day is this Friday!
Anyway...
I just wanted to post a big CONGRATS to all the new mommies here. Your babies are BEAUTIFUL! I can't wait until it's my turn. :)

tunibell...hee, thought you may have went early on us...you go on the bookshelves!
38w, 3d bellyshot...in my ever so classy favorite loungewear - wifebeater and sweats...my mother would be so proud. :p
Hard to believe OB has found DB's head to be super low..still look like I haven't dropped...perhaps he/she is just long? Who knows...

mom2amelia- Like all the others, I want to thank you for posting what you did. As many of us are first timers, I am sure that we might have felt that way and never said anything. Now, you have made it "OK" for us to do so.
Kat-Audrey and Alexander are soooooo precious. I can't get over how tiny their heads were in the car seat photo! I mean these were two BIG babies!! Glad that you found a LC who might have some answers. Hopefully the lack of supply is NOT a thyroid issue. If so, I hope that it gets worked out smoothly. Get some sleep!!!;)
Andrea-YEA!!! Sean gets to come home in two days!!!!
brooke- Great belly shot. You look FABULOUS! I am jealous. Woohoo for the surprise work shower. Did you get a lot of stuff?
tuni-Don't forget to take the time to relax as well!! Enjoy mat leave by sleeping late, taking naps, watching what you want to watch, reading abook you want to read, etc. before baby gets here!
Not much going on here. 39 weeks today. Really doubting DH's prediction that this guy is coming tomorrow. Mianly because there is absolutely NADA, ZILCH, NOTHING going on. I just have a feeling that I am going to have to be induced.:( At least I will have my doctor if that happens, but still. Not too much on the agenda for today except going to see my local representative to see about getting this little guy a Canadian passport to be able to travel to the US to see my family this summer. According to the US Embassy this will be the easiest and quickest way. I thought I had to have a birth cert. (which takes about 9 months here) in order to get a passport, but evidently the temporary one the hospital gives us is good enough. I just need to have the paperwork there for the Dr. to sign off on at delivery. OK, whatever works. I still report the birth of him as a US citizen abroad and eventually get him a US passport, but that will take longer. Other than that, I plan on cleaning some more, doing some laundry, finishing up my birth announcements and reading my book.
BBL!

brooke - you look great!
tunibell - sounds like your maternity leave is super productive so far! I hope you get to spend some time indulging yourself!
trm - still keeping my fingers crossed that tomorrow is the day for you!
Just got back from my pre-op work at the hospital. They took a urine sample, took some blood, and went over all of the procedures for Friday. While I was sitting there, it finally hit me that I will be meeting these babies no later than Friday. I can't wait!! :D
They confirmed that they will hang a mirror in the OR, if I want one. The nurse explained that they position it so that all you really see is the babies as they are pulled out. Doesn't sound as bad as I thought - I guess I'll talk to DH about whether it would be too gross to have it there. I'm already prone to fainting - so it might not be the best idea.
Hope everyone else is hanging in there and having a good day!

Finished our last childbirth prep class Monday night. Kinda made me sad, as I've really enjoyed it. We had a great instructor. But now I'm just excited to put all of my new knowledge to work! :)
Had a dentist appt yesterday. It was SO uncomfortable reclining in the chair with my feet slightly higher than my head! I felt like the organs inside my chest were bruised afterward! I thought getting it done now, as opposed to right after baby's arrival would be a good thing, but now I'm not so sure.
Have potentially my last cut/color this Saturday before baby arrives. Although with how fast my hair grows, I may try to squeeze in one more cut. We'll see.
This weekend our plan is to prepare/freeze some meals, install the carseat, figure out how to use the Bjorn and breast pump. That's all I can think of right now.
Brooke, you look awesome!
Bernie, I am SO excited for you to meet your babies on Friday!!!! Am I correct that aprilshowers is meeting her little one on friday too??? Babies Babies Everywhere!!!!

QUESTION: Could all these crampy feelings be part of BH contractions? They feel very much like AF cramps in back and front and down legs?
Mom – I missed responding to you earlier but what to thank you for your honest post. It’s nice to know that everyone reacts differently and to be prepared not to have to fall into the “norm.”
Bernie –Yay for being a mommy so soon!
Shannon – Glad your class went well. We haven’t done ours yet. We’re doing a one-day session on 3/4. Hope we make it. LOL. My hair is growing so fast too. I swear I used to color every 8 weeks or so and now I could get away with every 4 though I push it to six for my sanity (and wallet’s) sake!:)

Hi Girls: A quick hello to all the new Mamas and Mamas to be...work is kicking my a$$ and I'm finally feeling totally and completely pregnant so I'm not as quick as I used to be.
Kat and TGal -- the babies are GORGEOUS! Holy Moly~!
I've been reading dilligently but I haven't had much time to post during the week.
My Sister is doing better, thanks to all for the well wishes. She's not had the baby yet but will any day, from what I understand.
My family shower was cancelled due to Sister's ills. It's okay - I'm totally fine with it -- older sister is crushed for me but work did such a lovely job with mine I'm happy to just have had that!
What else..... oh yes, had a surprise baby care class last night and guess who was in it? ERIC STOLTZ!! Thought that was kinda cool.
Oh, and Shannon........your nursery is gorgeous! Love it.
XO XO XO
and I'll check back soon, luvs,

junk How cool is that that you got to attend class with
Eric Stolz, what was he like?
JennW It could be- evidently Im contracting and Ive had
no feeling that I can honestly say was a contraction. Just achy
cramps, occasional back pain, etc.
Shannon Wow, you have a busy weekend planned, good for
you!
Bernie Friday will be here before you know it! So exciting!:)
trm Hopefully DH's prediction will be right!! Keeping my
fingers crossed for ya that you dont require induction!
---
So it turns out I AM making progress. Had my 35 week appointment
today with my group b strep test and my first internal (really didnt
hurt as bad as I thought it would- I guess all those fertility woes
and testing helped with that, huh? I am not dialated yet but I
am 70% effaced. So evidently some of what Im feeling are
actual contractions. He obviously isn't really concerned about
it (he actually says effacement is great, it will shorten labor)
because I still dont go back for 2 weeks. I have an ultrasound
then to verify that the baby is head down, which he says that
he can tell he is based on where he is finding the heartbeat.
So that's it on my end. Pretty exciting to have progress I must
say. After all of my fertility woes its nice to know that my body
can do some things right!:)

Had a doctor appt today, everything is ok, I am not dilating at all, said my cervix was softer though. I am spotting quite a bit now, after the exam I guess.
Andrea- Fingers crossed for Sean to keep gaining weight!
Kat- the pictures are great! So very cute.
Tgal- Eva is beautiful.
Melissa- Hope you are feeling better.

Thank you everyone for your kind words and support. I especially appreciate hearing from those that have btdt - it helps so much to know that these are normal feelings I'm experiencing.
Jenn, you hit the nail on the head regarding feeling like a failure - I know it's not my fault but it is hard not to feel that way sometimes.
mom2amelia, I have heard that too about sometimes they are breech for a reason. That is one of the reasons I'm having such a tough time trying to decide whether to attempt a version or not. I was at least relieved to hear that my OB will stop after only about 5 minutes and does not recommend any type of pain relief for the version - she thinks that while it will be uncomfortable, if it actually hurts enough for you to need something they're pressing too hard. When is yours scheduled for?
Bernie, thanks for the suggestions! I think I might be a little leary of a mirror but the other ideas sound great. I'm getting different info from my hospital and my OB regarding when I will first get to hold the baby so I guess we'll have to get that straightened out on Friday! Is your DH going to try to do skin-to-skin contact while you're being sewn up?
kat, your babies are so sweet and adorable! Glad to hear BFing is going better.
trm, I'm a day behind you and I haven't had any signs of labor either. Every time I think I might be feeling even just a BH contraction it ends up being gas :rolleyes:
Andrea, so glad to hear that Sean is gaining well and will come home in a couple of days!
MCD, yes I was able to get the bras from the ebay seller. You are right, she is very sweet and even gave me some additional advice for dealing w/ a c-section.
Lisa, so glad to hear your sister is doing better. Will continue to keep her in my thoughts. So funny about Eric Stoltz!
TMI question for those who have had c-sections: um, how far down do they shave? Just wondering if I should head out for a wax...
trm98
02-22-2006, 12:56 PM
Quick Question- Anyone ever feel like a burning sensation where the baby is? I have had this burning (like slightly on fire) sensation sometimes. It is usually where his butt is pushing up on my upper abdomen. It usually comes maybe once a week (the last 3-4 weeks). But, today it is kinda constant. It doesn't really hurt, but is sticking around. Is this the "bar like pain" they talk about with preeclampsia? I had high BP againlast week and baby is very very quiet today (I think he has moved maybe 3 times). Should I call the hospital or am I just freaking out?
Bernie
02-22-2006, 01:01 PM
aprilshowers - Assuming they are both okay, I think the plan is for DH to hold them as soon as he can. The nurse today explained that c-section babies are sometimes very "juicy" and they need to spend a bit more time getting stuff out of their lungs, etc. - but that if all goes well, they will pass the babies off to DH as soon as they are cleaned up. And if they are in good shape, I can bring them into the recovery room with me.
I also asked her about waxing - and she said not to bother- but I'm not sure how far down they go. Thinking back to the pain of my last pregnancy bikini wax, I decided to just let them do what they need to do down there.
Bernie
02-22-2006, 01:05 PM
trm - not sure about the burning sensation. I think I sometimes get something like that - but like you said, it doesn't happen often and doesn't really stick around. I would call your OB or the hospital - especially if there hasn't been much movement today. Sorry I don't have a more informative answer!
JennW
02-22-2006, 01:13 PM
trm – I have not had pain like that but since it is so uncomfortable and since you haven’t felt a lot of movement, why not call your OB? It will make you feel better to get their opinion on it!
tray622
02-22-2006, 01:17 PM
trm I would call my ob just to be safe. The pre-e pain they describe is on the right side. I would drink some cold water then do my kick counts and if he still isnt moving, call. It wont hurt!

Wow you ladies sure know how to cheer up a girl. I'm feeling much better about things now. Still trying to get used to the idea, but my head is practically swimming. Things are happening so fast.
Had another apt this morning. OB confirmed that, indeed, Baby Bee is still breech. So we scheduled a birthday for Thursday, March 2nd! :eek: :D I'm still sort of in shock, but also very excited! Can't wait to meet this little stubborn baby.
tgal and kat - Those babes of yours are beautiful. Thanks for sharing the pics!
I'm off to go try and finish up all those errands/projects/plans I saved for the last minute, because it sure feels like the clock is ticking loudly and quickly! :eek:

I also asked her about waxing - and she said not to bother- but I'm not sure how far down they go. Thinking back to the pain of my last pregnancy bikini wax, I decided to just let them do what they need to do down there. Glad you actually asked - I chickened out :) I just did my underarms and that was bad enough so I think I'll let them shave and deal with the consequences later! Glad to hear your DH gets to hold them as soon as they are cleaned up. We are hoping to do that too and I would love to get a picture but I'm not sure I'll be able to operate a camera at that point!
honey_bee, glad you are feeling better. How funny, we are both in the same situation and you will be delivering on my original due date. Take good care of it! ;)
trm98, definitely give them a call if for no other reason than to put your mind at ease. Hope all is well.

Thinking back to the pain of my last pregnancy bikini wax
Glad I'm not the only one...waxing never used to bother me until last few months. Decided to forgo one last wax in lieu of shaving...which was a laugh as I couldn't even see what's going on down there... :p
Not much going on here - loads of BH and my ribs feel like they've gone 8 rounds with Apollo Creed. Am sleeping surprisingly well - only get up one during the night for a trip to the loo... 39 week appt. is Friday, we'll see if we've gotten anywhere.
Appt. with accountant tomorrow - need to cross 'taxes' off the list before this baby arrives!

cesarean shaving~~They don't shave very far, IMO. Or maybe I keep it close:) Anyway, my scar is about 2 inches above the *opening* and they didn't shave much below that. They will shave part of your belly too.

Quick post!
Thanks ladies for the advice. I heeded your advice since the burning sensation (on my right side) wouldn't stop and no one I know that has been pregnant has experienced it, I called my OB. She said it was probably nothing but to go in and get checked out. I knew it was nothing, but I just wanted to be sure and careful since I had had high BP last week. So, I go in and they put me on a monitor. Evidently I was having contractions every 2-4 minutes in varying length. I only felt the strongest one very slightly. The nurses seemed surprised. Problem was that this guy was not moving. I had two glasses of cold OJ, they checked me (still ay 1 cm:p ), they pushed my belly from side to side and gave me oxygen. All of which did NOTHING. They then put a pillow under my right side (where he likes to lay) and he finally moved. Then he wouldn't stop moving. It took about an hour on the monitor and 20 minutes on the oxygen before he moved. Then we had to wait for them to call the Dr. and have him say what to do. After an HOUR of waiting on that, he sent us home (which I knew was going to happen) with the instructions that baby needed to move at least 5 times every 2 hours. That was not a problem. He wouldn't stop. He has already moved 7 times since I got up 20 minutes ago. So, that makes me feel better. I think DH was pretty nervous about him not moving b/c you could tell the nurse was a little puzzled, concerned. He kept asking what it meant and she kinda dodged the question and just said, "It is the first thing that the Dr. is going to ask.". When he finally started moving, she said, "I guess the baby is just lazy!". I told her he had never been a HUGE mover except at night. She said, "Oh, that explains it. It's a boy!". The nurse and I had a good laugh and DH finally lightened up. I slept horrible last night, but I don't know if it was b/c I was having contractions that woke me up or if it is b/c I kept dreaming of giving birth? Either way a nap is in store for today. I have an appt. with the Dr. in an hour, so I had better run. I plan on asking him about the burning sensation. I also plan to walk like crazy to try to stimulate things along. I had better run and go shower!
BBL with shout outs!!

Hello Ladies!
Sorry I haven't posted in the past few days, I had to lead one last workshop here for work and was way too busy! I have been reading along though!
Nothing new going on here, getting some contrax here and there but mostly I just feel crampy.
Love all the baby pictures! They are all so beautiful (and I swear I am not just saying that):D I have seen some less than cute babies before!
Andrea good to hear Sean will be coming home soon!
Just wanted to encourage our soon to be c/s momma's! I too had c/s b/c DS was breech. I couldn't even try the version b/c of my placenta being in the front. I was able to start nursing as soon as they stitched me up and I was in recovery (about 25 minutes after DS was born). I nursed (and pumped at work) until I got PG with this little one! Have faith b/c it can be done! I also wanted to say that I had the same feelings of grief. Its hard to know you have to go through the c/s when you never really considered it as a possibility. Allow yourself to morn/grieve if you need! By the day before my c/s I had gotten to the point where I had accepted my c/s and I even told my mom that I was glad I knew about it ahead of time so I could come to terms with it in my own way. I hope this helps a little, I just want to make you feel better b/c I know how hard it was for me to get through!

Hope everyone is well....my little guy seems to be happy in there. Not much else cooking....
Big hugs and kisses, to all -- gotta get back to work (ugh) -- my ankles are like tree trunks and feet like Fred Flinstone's thank goodness I can get away with flip flops for these last few weeks.

Bumping us off of page 2, where is everyone today?
Keep Red_canuck/Amanda in your thoughts today. Another gallbladder attack caused her to experience some contractions, so she spent the night in L&D. As of the last info I heard, they had stopped for now. I'll keep you posted if I hear more.
trm98: sorry about the slightly scary L&D visit last night. Glad to hear your little guy is more active today. Either way...you're getting very close :)
brooke: we have to finish our taxes as well. Good luck with that.
bernie: good luck tomorrow!
aprilshowers: thinking of you, good luck tomorrow!
amychris: yay for progress!
junk: too funny about eric stoltz!! My favorite movie in h.s. was Some Kind of Wonderful with him and Mary Stuart Masterston...fun, fun! Sending my best wishes to your sister too! Sorry about your shower getting canceled.
shannon: have fun with your haircut this weekend. I have my last one planned as well. I forgot to mention, I tried my breastpump last weekend, DH found it quite entertaining. Nothing came out when I was pumping, but it was funny to see what it actually would be like.
kat: hope you're doing well with your little ones. Their pictures are so beautiful.
~~~~~~~~~~~
I had my 36 wk appt last night. Everything looked good. H/B was in the 120s, so I have a pretty lazy one. The h/bs have been lower these last few appts which make me suspect more that I am having a boy...but I am looking forward to officially figuring out the surprise :) My midwife doesn't do internals until the 39/40 week mark...I highly doubt anything is happening anyway. They also said they really don't start even talking induction until the 41 week mark and really don't like to induce before 42 weeks unless they see my body making progress. While I want to avoid an induction as much as I can...the thought of still being pregnant as the calendar moves to April is a little daunting me. She did reassure me and say that while many first time moms go late, the vast majority do not go all the way until 42 weeks.
Not a very exciting update. My shower is this weekend. I'm pretty excited about that :D
lisa, how exciting that your sis is in labor! Wishing her a healthy labor and delivery! And sorry about your Fred feet. :(
heidi, thanks for the update on red. I'll say a little prayer for her. Keep us posted if you hear anything else.
Glad to hear your appt went well!
Super busy at work these days trying to tie up loose ends.
trm I'm glad things are fine now.
Bernie and Aprilshowers-Best wishes for tomorrow!!
junk-Sorry about your shower being canceled. You are handling it well, but I am sure it is still a disappointment. Are there any plans for making it up (maybe after baby arrives)? Best wishes for your sister!
Heidi- It wasn't really too scary. I knew that I would be sent home. But, before she did the internal, she asked if we had brought our bags b/c my contractions were pretty regular and evidently strong (even though I didn't really feel them). The scary part was when she left the room and we saw the fetal heart rate go from 129 to 61. We freaked out b/c it kept going back and forth. Come to find out that it was picking up my pulse at 61.:o DH did the daddy thing though and ran out of the room to get a nurse. Are we parnoid much? Thanks for the update on RED. Have a blast at your shower this weekend!
red- Hope that you are feeling better.
Shannon
Sounds like your body is getting close to being ready! :D Not so much. Still where I was last week, so it looks like the contractions are pretty worthless. Well, I think maybe they are.
39 week 1 day appt
As for him coming soon, I doubt it.:( The Dr. this morning didn't tell me how many cm I was dialted, but said that I hadn't made much progress. This was followed by, "Most first time moms deliever late. Go ahead and make your appt for next week b/c I don't see anything happening soon. At least not in the next few days." I am still extremely comfortable, but I am just anxious! I plan on walking on the treadmill while watching Oprah this afternoon and Survivor and the ladies figure skating final later tonight. Maybe that will help. He (the Dr.) seemed to think that the burning sensation was the way the baby was positioned and probably muscular.
Anyway, this was the first time that I had met this guy, and I really liked him. If I go before Sunday at midnight, I'll have him. The Dr. on call next week, I really, really like. He just has a really nice disposition and I like how he thoroughly explains everything to me. Then, if I go over and have to be induced, I'll have my Dr. So, I am happy about all three scenerios. My next appt. is Wednesday at 9:30am (my due date). I hope that I don't make that. I would prefer to be able to go to pick up my mom up from the airport with DH on the 4th. We'll see?
That's about it here. Nothing too terribly exciting. Just hanging out waiting. Oh, I think that I did loose some more plug this morning. So far it has been little, tiny pieces here and there, but this morning was two pretty good sized globs (between a nickle and a quater size each). Oooo...so we're expecting three babies tomorrow, right? Plus waiting for word on red and klm2klh...so exciting!!! I'm addicted to all these beautiful baby pics. Seriously, we are producing some very attractive offspring in this thread.
Not too much going on here. Just got back from the MWs; Piper is officially in "launch" position, but not engaged in the pelvis yet. She's head down, with her spine facing my left side and her butt right underneath my right rib, as I had expected. I had the Strep B test done (actually performed the test myself, which was unexpected), so I expect I'll hear back about that in the next few days. I also picked up the last items for my hospital bag today (robe and slippers), so I feel ready to go anytime. (And oh, would I prefer sooner to later...)
Good luck to all the ladies tomorrow.
Today was my last day at work and now I can relax. They threw me a shower and it turned out really nice. I got a lot of duplicates so no I get to go exchange :)
My OB appt was nothing really exciting. I lost 2 lbs... and the did the GBS test.. I am still measuring 2 weeks ahead. I have an ultrasound scheduled for the 11, but I am questioning whether or not I am going to make it..... I am ready to get this pregnancy done with.... I am huge and uncomfortable am ready to sleep on my stomach again.
I should be in more often now that I am off work, but I have to get nesting so my house is in order for this baby.
Well, apparently my "February 23rd" positive thinking didn't work - I'm still pregnant! I have my 37 week appointment in about an hour. I'm not sure if they'll do an internal or not, but I'm hoping that something's going on down there! I'm so done being pregnant! Although, there are some things I need to do and get this weekend so I hope that he waits until Sunday, kind of. If he doesn't want to, that's fine too! Knowing my luck though, they'll have to induce me because it will be two weeks after my due date and he still won't have come!
Christy5599
02-24-2006, 06:12 AM
Tracie, maybe he thought you said the 24th? :o
Had my 38 week appt yesterday and all looks good. Still no internals but that's ok. The doc estimated baby's weight to be only about 6lbs which is fine by me because my 32 week u/s said 5lbs 7oz! I'd much rather push out a 7lb baby rather than a 9lb baby! Next appt is a week from yesterday.
DH is feeling better because he realized his vacation isn't next week and the week after but the week after and the week after that! He's had these horrible tension headaches for the last couple days because he was stressed he'd have to take the time with no baby to take care of and help me with! So that's a relief.
Total TMI alert but I've noticed that over the last few days my #2's are emmm 'changing...' perhaps a sign of impending labor? That would be nice!
Happy Friday to everyone!
QOTD: Who has lost any part of their mucus plug? I know that some women don't lose it in advance of labor at all but every time I go to the bathroom I'm hoping it will be there so I know things are moving along! I keep reminding myself that my sister didn't loose it with her two births until she was basically ready to push... and her water broke well in advance of that too!
JennZ
02-24-2006, 06:52 AM
Christy,
I didn't lose mine until after my water broke. So I'm doing the same thing as you, except I'm looking for water every time I go to the bathroom instead of the mucus plug! LOL
Junk- Any news yet?
tray622- Jocelyn is beautiful! I love the picture of Zoey just staring at her! How is Zoey handling it? I remember when I went to see my oldest nephew after his sister was born. I took him to McDonald's and we played for a good, long while on the playground (he was in desperate need of attention). I asked him on the way back what he thought of baby sister Emily. He said, "Throw her away!". I couldn't help but laugh. I hope that it is going smoothly for you!
tuni-You did the Strep B test swab yourself?:eek: I don't even think I could have reached down there very well to do it. Did they ask you to, or just offer it up as an option?
losthoosier- Sorry that you are so done with the pregnancy. I hope for your sake that the baby comes early. But, prepare yourself if it doesn't. I was so sure that I would come early. THis last week has been SOOOOOOOO hard. Now, I am thinking I will definitely go past due.
Tracie
Well, apparently my "February 23rd" positive thinking didn't work - I'm still pregnant!
Yeah, our little guy didn't listen to his daddy either, because here I am and still pregnant.:mad:
Christy-That is great news about DH's vacation time. It must be a huge relief for him. Now we just have to hope that the baby respects the same timing! As for the mucuos plug, I have been loosing tiny, tiny bits and pieces since my first internal last week. But, according to the others, it is huge so I think I still have a ways to go.
I think I am going to have to call and hassle the school board. They are supposed to pay 100% of my salary during the 2 week wait before gov. mat leave benefits kick in. That means I should have been paid today for at least one week. I just checked my bank account and nada. They like to try to screw you. So, I will be calling them. If that doesn't get me anywhere, I will be going to the union rep. That always lights a fire under the school board's butt. Just a pain to deal with, especially when I was expecting pay!
I slept soooo good last night. I think I only got up twice to use the restroom (I have been getting up between 5-10X/night). I even was able to sleep until 9am! I don't have too much planned for today, so I will probably be inhere a lot. I hope we hear about bernie and aprilshowers today. Best of luck ladies!!!
DH is out of town until late tomorrow night so tonight I'm curling up with a movie and bad food. I have a whole list of different cell numbers to call if I should need to reach him as we don't have cell service in that area of the state. We also have some friends who live 5 blocks away on alert in case I should need anything.
I've lost bits and pieces of my mucus plug, but no real big chunks or anything. I've had a constant backache for the last few days, too. It feels like I've slept on it wrong, or did too much work, so I'm trying not to read too much into it. Babe is definitely running out of room. Movements are more subtle, still most active around 8 pm.
Tracy Jocelyn is adorable! I love the sisters photo.
mucous plug - Zip. Zilch. Nada. And I haven't scrutinized toilet paper so much since this whole pregnancy business started.
Hi guys :) I'm home, and baby is still baking inside :rolleyes: My gallbladder needs to come out pronto, which in a good way means I know they won't let me go over my due date! Within three weeks I'll finally be able to meet this munchkin :) My little stint of labour got my cervix nice and ripe, and quite effaced, but not dialated. I sure hope I go into labour soon so I can eat more than cold cereal and skim milk!
Lots going on here! Exciting to hear that so many are now done work :D Take it easy and rest up for labour. We now have free passes to lie on the couch and relax! lol
Any news on the potential births today? I feel like I lost a whole week and am so far behind in the news of what's going on in here :(
YAY! She finally had the baby! She had about 24 hours of labor, (didn't get the epi until about 7 or 10 hours into it) and then proceeded to need an emergency C due the cord being wrapped around the neck and chest. Mom, dad and baby are fine, and he's a strapping 6 lbs, 14 oz, and 20 inches long, which is great considering he's just over THREE WEEKS early!! :eek: My poor mom is so traumatized -- she got to watch everything but the csection - must have been really hard for her.
-------------------------------------
Mucous plug -- far as I can tell, still in tact. My little guy hasn't dropped yet. I wish he would - at least a little -- I could use the space.
My swelling is wretched - being on my feet during the day is killing me and I get home to Fred Flinstone legs / ankles. It's getting hard to walk.
Hope everyone is doing well....thinkin' bout you all.
red, SO glad you're still baking Lucky! It's nice to know too that they won't let you go over due date. Lucky you!
On the number 2 front, I've noticed things have been "looser" for the last month or so....obviously, that's not been much of an indicator for me of impending labor starting.
Re: the swelling...my ankles/feet look reasonably normal given that I've packed on 42 lbs and counting (DH brought home 9 BOXES of Girl Scouts cookies!!!!), but my hands are a different story - they are swollen, hot, and feel very weird, especially when I make a fist.
Congrat Auntie Junk!! Glad that everyone is doing well! Sorry about the cankles. I notice mine are bad when I have had a lot of salt the previous day.
Red- Glad that you are back and Lucky is still baking! Good news that you don't have to go overdue. Bad news gall bladder surgery. How soon do they want to take it out after Lucky is here? Will that affect your breast feeding?
#2
Been "softer" now for a month as well. Still nothing cooking here though.
JennZ- Thabks for the advice. I switched out batteries in my digital camera last night. Mom is bringing the video camera, so I will have to tell her to charge the battery. Hopefully I will have already had the guy though!
MIL called again at 1pm. I haven't told her that I am 1cm dialted or that we went in on Wedensday night. Am I horrible? I just know now that this guy is way too comfortable and not coming in the next few days. I want to be able to be sane. She keeps asking of I have dropped. I think I have, but he still seems a little high. How am I supposed to know? Anyway, her work threw her a grandmother shower today at lunch. Evidently she got a lot of stuff that she will need at "Grandma's House". I wonder what all she got. Is it bad of me that I want to make sure whatever "gear" she got is good?
I am assuming this could last quite some time, but Im still excited
JennZ Excellent Idea, ours hasn't been charged since May!
Plug no signs of it yet, but I have been having a lot more
Hello ladies!
Congrats Auntie Junk!! That does sound pretty big for 3 weeks early!
Tray~ That pic of your girls is just adorable! Can't wait to get one of my girls like that :D
#2~ Mine have been looser as well for the last 2 weeks or so...
Plug~ No signs yet... With DD I lost it over about a 24 hour period, bigger chunks towards the end, and that was just about 1 day before started having contractions (keep in mind I never felt and BH or reg contractions until they started on the June 8th (had DD on the 9th), being 10 days late and after my dr stripped my membranes for the second time) and 2 days before she was born. I know its different with everyone but that's my story ;)
Swelling~ Not too bad, mostly just my hands in the evenings but the last few days they've felt pretty puffy when I wake up so I haven't been wearing my ring...
JennZ~ Thanks for the battery advice! That is something DH and I will always forget! We get the camera but forget to make sure the battery is charged, so I'm going to do that right now and then I will put the extra battery and charger in my hospital bag, THANKS!!
Well, the baby has finally given me some breathing room! She dropped about 4 days ago, I woke up and could feel the butt much lower than normal, and my breathing has been much eaiser! Here is a pic I took at 37w4d
Hello ladies! Glad everyone is doing well. Hopefully we hear from our today mommies soon.
Today is my last day of work and I am FREAKING out. As much as I have been looking forward to this last day I am suddenly realizing that this means the baby will be coming soon!!! WOWZERS!
I think the nesting has begun. I woke up at 5:00 a.m. thinking about how I needed to reorganize my linen closet to make room for baby’s towels, washcloths and sheets. Not only might this be weird for a normal person, but it is even more odd for Mrs. Messy (aka me!:D)
Am I the only one who doesn’t feel ready to go yet? I’d like at least another week. Considering we aren’t taking our childbirth class until next Saturday:eek::o, I’d prefer if he’d wait to arrive after that. We also have one more shower next Saturday night!
I feel like I have much yet to do but I think after a week at home it will all mostly be done. I hope to read a book or two and take some naps before he arrives. God knows when there will be time for that again!
Kristine – You look great!
Congrats Junk!!!:)
Tuni – Girl Scout cookies…yummmmmmmmmmmmy…what kind?;)
Well I am back from the hospital - no babies yet!
After almost a week they finallly decided to let me go home. It is perfect timing because it is my birthday tomorrow and I really wasn't looking forward to spending it in the hospital.
My doctor came by on Wednesday and examined me - I was 100% effaced and 4+ cm dilated, but nothing else was happening - no contractions, no loss of fluid etc. Also, I had been having daily NSTs which all looked good. She said that she would come back and check me today and if there was no progress she would send me home. So they checked me today and I was still about the same so they let me come home.
I am so glad to leave the hospital. I am looking forward to sleeping in my own bed (actually I am looking forward to sleeping in general). My upper back is killing me from being in that bed so long.
It looks like my boys aren't quite ready to make their appearance just yet. For so long I have been trying to keep them in and now I am pretty much ready to get them out!
I am not ready to go yet either. I finally will have my Shower on Sun. Wasn't that cutting it a little close since I'm due on the 10th? I have been in such withdrawl, I haven't really bought anything but diapers because I have known it is coming.
He is doing wonderful. I'm so happy to have him home. I'm crossing my fingers that everything stays good and he keeps gaining lots of weight. Right now I'm pretty much pumping and giving him bottles because that is what we had to do in the hospital and it's really important that I keep up with how much he's eating. I'm still trying to nurse him as well, and will probably start focusing on that more now that I'm home with him 24/7.
Sorry all...been reading along, but work is kicking my a** leaving me little time to post. With due date next Friday, think I may start cutting the cord if I make it to Monday and start working 1/2 days...
OB appt. went well this morning - up to 3cm dilated, still same effacement (~80%). Internal was less than pleasant and I've been crampy all day...worst I've experienced yet. Not a fun day at all.... :(
Leaving work now to go home and take a hot shower.
losthoosier: yay for you being done with work as well.
bernie and aprilshowers: you both have been in my thoughts all day...anxiously awaiting any news.
mucous plug: absolutely no sign of that yet!
My cousin who was due a week before me had her baby yesterday. I'm so excited for her. Too bad she lives on the east coast...we just have to keep in touch over the phone and email and a few visits a year. I really can't stand it when my MIL decides to rub and talk to my belly... it pretty much makes my hair stand on end. DH says he'll say something to her but he never realizes when it happens, tonight was no exception. UGH! So she proceedes to rub and say, "Come on little one, Grammie is waiting to meet you!" I was so annoyed but I did manage to say back "Um, Grammie? How about Mom and Dad!?!?!" I have a feeling my total annoyance is unfounded but it really pissed me off that she was putting a time line on when OUR (my and DH's) baby will be born just so she can meet him or her. Ummm, yeah, two years of infertility and SHE wants to meet the baby? I really hope that I can deal with these emotions more easily after the monkey is here because I think I'll implode otherwise!
How great is that??? I also loved that the HR director was able to lure him into the conference room by promising to share hot gossip. They know my man. :D
Andrea - What a heartbreaker! So glad he's home where he belongs.
klm2klh - Oh, I'm so happy to hear that you are home again in your own bed and still baking those babies. Tell 'em they can bake for a few more days, and then they gotta move!
ETA Amanda - I hear you. When my MIL (who I love dearly) was here over the holidays, she kept rubbing my belly and cooing "Oh, you precious, precious girl!" I wanted to crawl out of my skin.
I am happy to announce that our twins arrived!
Amelia Sara was born at 12:30pm, weighing 5lb 15oz and measuring 19 inches. Maxwell Philip was born at 12:32pm, weighing 5lb 8oz and measuring 19 inches.
Max, Mia and I are doing great. Pictures and birthstory (and better shout outs) will follow sometime soon, but the c-section wasn't as scary as I feared.
DH and I are biased, of course, but they are both more amazing than we could have hoped for and we're positively smitten with them.
I hope everything went great with Aprilshowers.
Congrats Bernie and welcome Amelia and Maxwell!
I'm so happy things went well for you and I can't wait to see pictures of your little ones!!
tray622~ Your girls are so precious!
Tuni~ Group B swab on yourself?!? Yowza! I agree with whoever was impressed you could reach! :D My hands feel the same way you describe yours. It's like I'm outside on an 80 degree Chicago summer day all the time!
trm~ I'm jealous of your good night's sleep. Both DH and I had a hard time sleeping last night- we both had so much running through our heads after BFing class! (It was like that Disney World commercial- "I'm too excited to sleep!") I hope you get things cleared up with the school board ASAP! I will NOT be telling my mother there is such a thing as a "Grandmother's Shower". I just know she'd want one.
JennZ~ Thanks for the reminder to charge the camcorder battery. That is officially DH's job, but I think I should prod him a bit more. :D
Red~ Glad everything is OK with you! Take care of yourself!
Junk~ Congrats on being an auntie! How fun to have the cousins so close together!!
amychris~ I took off my rings about 2 weeks ago. DH and I went to Claire's and I got a $3 replacement band, precisely so I wouldn't look like an unwed teenager- especially days like today when I'm wearing my hair in a ponytail (I was lazy this morning), I look pretty young.
kristine~ I can definitely see some droppage! You look great!
MCD~ I'm working til the bitter end too. Though I can't say my productivity level is very high. ;)
JennW~ So jealous that you are DONE working!
klm~ Keep baking those twins!! You're doing great!
Andrea~ Sean is gorgeous! I'm so glad he's home with you!
Back with more SO's later, DH is honking outside for me!!
Ok I need some advice. Sorry about the subject though.
DH & I fooled around last night, & all night I was leaking watery stuff. Just watery stuff, alot. I feel fine, had a few minor contractions, but slept well after they stopped.
I almost called the dr, but then I thought, what goes up must come down, right? I was totally freaked out my water broke. Any thoughts, except that we never should have done that at 37 weeks?
Christy5599
02-25-2006, 06:48 AM
Nothing wrong with fooling around at 37 weeks! You may want to call the doc and just describe the fluid to him/her. They may want to have you come in and make sure your water didn't break. Or they may just tell you to keep an eye on what happens today and not worry about it. Either way I think it will allay your fears. HTH! :)
amychris03
02-25-2006, 07:43 AM
jen71 I'd call just to be safe, my dr says you can easily go
to L and D and they can do a little test on the fluid to see if it is
amniotic or not. That way if it is a leak they can be aware of it.
And to finish what I started last night...
brooke~ Sounds like things are getting close! Definitely cutting back to half days sounds good!!
Heidi~ My cousin had her baby yesterday too! Of course, she lives in Israel, so the little ones probably won't be seeing each other for a while! ;)
Amanda/ Christy~ I'm with ya, the only one who should be talking to my belly is DH. My mom and MIL do a lot of belly rubbing that I could do without, but I let it go. Other people I don't really let touch me. (Except my 3 year old nephew, that doesn't seem to bother me)
Tuni~ A man shower sounds awesome. What a generous gift too!! And cute cakes and stuff!
jen71~ I'd definitely call the doctor. At this point, I am sure they'd rather send you home saying it's nothing than not have you come in and it be something!
QOTDs:
Swelling: My feet and ankles are a little swollen, not horrible bad. My hands have definitely been puffing up a bit, as I mentioned before, like I'm outside in the heat and humidity.
Mucus Plug: Nada. I think it was tuni who said she hasn't paid this much attention to TP since TTC. I wholeheartedly agree. DH just had a coworker have a baby and she mentioned something about her mucus plug (she lost it the day she went into labor, BTW) and now he asks me about it every day. He thinks he's funny. :rolleyes:
Update on me:
Not much to tell. We had our last 2 classes this week.
On Wednesday we had Part II of Newborn Care which was ok. We watched the Happiest Baby on the Block video- which made DH happy because now he thinks he doesn't have to read the book. Then a pediatrician came to speak and he kind of sucked. My guess is that they bring in a different Dr. from the community every class, because this guy had clearly not spoken to this type of class before. He was pretty unorganized, and rambled and rambled! Oh well.
Thursday was Part II of Breastfeeding which was MUCH better. It was a lot of the practical stuff- pumping and storage, etc. DH came this time, and he had fun with the stuffed boob we used. :D He's 5 years old. He is definitely fully onboard to the BFing now, which is an accomplishment since his sister quit after about a week with our nephew and he hasn't been THAT supportive. Now, he's into it, so I'm glad he came.
I think I may be having a shower at work next week, so that would be fun if I was. Some gifts have slowly started coming in. Most will come after the birth because of the whole Jewish superstition thing, so it's fun to get some packages in the mail here and there since I'm not having a shower unless work throws one.
Sleeping is really becoming a pain. Literally. My hip gets sore if I lay on one side for too long, and it's such a pain to roll over. I'm so jealous of DH when I look over and see him laying on his belly!!
Has anyone else decided to go with the Medela Pump In Style Advanced? Have you found any good prices? The best I've found so far is $289.99 at www.babyandmeboutique.com. I think I will be buying that soon, so I have it ready from the beginning for engorgement and such.
Jen71~ When I was pg with DD I got this as well, and I had read in a book that sometimes your bag of waters can get a small tear (not nessicarrily breaking) and have a slow leak, which is what I thought it was. Sounds kinda funny but I experianced this the day before I had DD, so maybe it's a sign. I didn't call the dr but I was just starting to lose my mucus plug as well, so I chalked it up to the beginings of labor... I would definalty call your doc though if you are concerned.
Congrats Bernie and Welcome Max and Mia!! Can't wait to see pics and hear your birth story!
Amanda~ So glad you got to bring your little man home! Love the pics too, he really is adorable!
Aprilshowers~ Thinking of you and hoping everything is well with you and baby!
IUAlum~
Sleeping is really becoming a pain. Literally. My hip gets sore if I lay on one side for too long, and it's such a pain to roll over.
Ditto! I'm having the same problems... Then add in that DD has been sleeping in bed with us (well me really, she's too much of a bed hog for DH to sleep!) and almost always is laying right next to me. Makes it even harder to roll over to my other side!
Not too much new with me... I have finally been feeling good lately! Seems like at every point in this pregnancy there has been something bothering me but the last week or so I have actually been feeling quite well! I guess it's better late than never, right?? Since the baby has dropped I have been breating much eaiser, which is a delight! My hips have been pretty achy though, mostly when I'm at work since I'm on my feet the whole time I'm here, but if that's all I have to complain about now I'm pretty happy with it! :) Thanks for the compliments on the belly pics, since I have been feeling better I really have been in a much better mood and I think that always helps one look better on the outside as well! Hope all the mommies are doing well and enjoying their Saturday, unfortunatly for me it's my Monday at work, but I only have about 2 hours left so it's almost over!
Junk/Lisa-Congrats on being an auntie! Hoping to be sending you an email soon with some good news of my own :D !
I am so ready to have this baby! I was only 1 cm dialated at my appt on Thursday, I think she's pretty comfy in there. She's been moving a ton today, which, at this point, feels like she's moving my insides around, b/c she's getting so big!
Hoping for some more baby announcements this weekend! :)
Congratulations to Bernie and welcome to Mia and Max!
Swelling My ankles looked like they should belong to an elephant for a while there. Doctor suggested support hose since I'm on my feet at work much of the day and they work great! Now just my toes are a little swollen at the end of the day. My hands are a little swollen as well, I had to switch some of my rings around.
Mucous Plug Maybe. I had a little bleeding Wednesday night that was more than spotting, but not very much. Doctor wasn't sure what it was but wasn't too concerned.
Update on me: They didn't do an internal yesterday, so I don't know if there's anything going on in terms of effacement or dilation. She said that it could be another couple weeks, so I should prepare myself mentally for that. :( GBS was negative, so that was good. She said that they will only let me go one week past my due date due to the diabetes, so March 22nd, here he comes, ready or not! The best news was that because my blood sugar is so good, I only have to test three days a week!!!
Welcome Max and Mia!
ShannonGH Trying to figure that out myself! Remained crampy all day yesterday, came home from running errands and crashed around 6pm and then started experiencing contractions. More painful that previous BH, so thought this may be it...needless to say I was up most of the night with what must be false labor as they've remained ~8-20 minutes apart..still erratic.
Friend told me she was in back labor for two days prior to delivering her DS. My contractions do wrap my belly, which led me to think they were 'genuine' at first...sigh. Jumping in the shower again for relief. DH and I are going to head out for a walk later on...
Jen71 As others said, you could have a leak...would call OB. Good luck!
IUAlum Sorry to hear about sleeping issues. I so wanted to shake DH awake last night with every contraction...if I wasn't sleeping, I wanted company! :p
Very exciting Brooke, hopefully the real thing is right around the corner!
I'm just finishing up my 'labor playlist' for our mp3 player. I'm in total disbelief that my due date is in a week and two days. Holy cow!
DH and I were laying in bed this am talking about how our baby's birthday could be any day... 2/26/06... 2/27/06, etc! We were also talking about how it won't be much longer that it will be just the two of us in the house (not counting the animals)... pretty soon we'll be a family of three!
This is all becoming so very real I think! That sounds funny to say considering I've only known I was pregnant since 6/28/05. ;)
Nothing is really going on have been extremly feeling a lot of cramps over the past week. On Friday night they were coming and going.... So its good to know that my body is beginning to do something.
No Mucous plug as of yet, I keep a close eye on it since the bleeding at the beginning of the pregnancy. I have the nesting instinct as my house is finally getting organized. All bags are packed and we even made a trip to buy a new digital camera as ours was very old.... and dh replaced the battery and it still would not hold a charge. So we got a really good deal on a Sony. The guys messed up and we got almost 200 dollars of the camera.... So with this savings we decided to finally give in and buy a video camera... So my dh is in heaven and has been playing with them all weekend... its too funny....
Believe tunibell experienced a similar feeling a few weeks back...she may be able to help.
DH and I went out for mani/pedis - walking is not fun...while it is flipping cold in NYC today doesn't help that I have to walk like an old lady b/c of these contractions. :o
Yep, I had this going on about a month ago. I posted about it on two different boards, and got enough "me too!" responses that I felt totally assuaged. I think it's just a series of really quick movements. (But of course, my initial thought was "OMG...my baby is having a seizure!!!)
Hmm...been anxiously checking this thread for signs of new babies...wonder if Aprilshowers has any news? Wasn't JennZ going in for a c-section today or tomorrow? It seemed like Brooke was getting close as well. Many of our mommies are approaching their due dates this week!
This week marks the start of OUR MONTH! So, so exciting!!!
I had my baby shower this weekend. It was really nice and I was overwhelmed by the generosity of my friends and family. Now comes the challenge of setting up and finding space for all of the stuff. It is a fun challenge though, so I am not complaining. Hopefully I will get some pictures this week that I can share with everyone.
I guess I wasn't the only one that had issues getting on for about 4 hours. Either that or this thread is S-L-O-W today!
KLM- Glad that you are home! Happy Belated Birthday and Congrats on making it to 36 weeks!! You are doing great!!
Elenista-How was your shower yesterday? That was cutting it close!
Andrea- YAY!!! Sean is home. I hope all is going well!
Brooke- Say it with me, "1/2 days are a must!!!!". You are 3cm dialted. You suck! ;) I am jealous!!! Why can't my little guy learn from your little one?
Christy- Sorry about the MIL. Mine is driving me insane about being anxious, too. This weekend I showed her pictures of the fabric the bedding is made out of (my mom made and is bringing the bedding). What does MIL say? She squishes up her face and says, "Well, it isn't very baby.". Hello, I don't want baby, baby!! She is never pleased. It is obvious that she hates the name we picked as well. She will be the end of me! At least she drives DH more insane than me! I hope it gets better for you. Does she live close by?
tuni-A man shower! That is so fun. I think that luring him by the promise of "hot gossip" is too funny!
Bernie-CONGRATS!!! WELCOME MIA and MAX!!! I hope that you are doing well in recovery aspects as well!!
IUAlum- Yeah, I had never heard of a grandma shower either. Turns out all they gave her were some bibs, receiveing blankets, bath products and wipes. Don't know how often she will use them though. I don't really foresee her having baby sleep over very often. Hope she isn't expecting that! Sorry about your hip pain. Hopefully it is better. Does stretching help at all?
Kristine80-Glad to hear that you are feeling good these days. You are right, better late than never!
Dec27Bride- I was only 1cm on THursday as well. Are we having the same pregnancy? Well, we technically only have 2 days left. It is time our babies got their butts in gear! I told DH last night that if this guy takes after him, he will come today or tomorrow (DH is always early for things). If he takes after me (an d my side of the family), he will be here fashionably late. Hopefully, he will take after DH. But, it doesn't look like it. Not too much going on other than sporatic contractions.:mad:
Tracie-YAY for the good blood sugar results and only having to test 3X/week!!!
Losthoosier- I have gotten those little vibrations lately. It is almost like he is shaking/ shivering. Glad to know that it is fairly common.
heidi- Glad to hear that you had such a great baby shower! Do you still need a lot of stuff, or did you get almost everything?
Well, I've been walking, eating spicy food, wtaching funny shows, eating pineapple, doing "the deed" and we even had two minor earthquakes this weekend but all that couldn't get this guy out! Friday night, I watched Friends and Will and Grace in syndicate. Then, I watched the 2 hour America's Funniest Home Videos. Two of my girlfriends swear that they went into labor the day after watching a show that made them laugh really hard. Well, I watched 3.5 hours of laughing and still no Kaden! Anyway, towards the end of AFV, DH is up getting me some water. I feel this shaking. Mind you it was minor, but very noticable as not the wind or a HUGE truck going by. It only lasted about 10 seconds. We both realize it was an earthquake. Nothing too big, for us at least. All our belongings stayed put! Then Saturday night, as I was getting ready for bed, we hear (and feel) a HUGE BOOM. Then the house shakes for about 20 seconds. Both dogs jump up off their couch and run to me. They were not really scared, but wondering what that was, and the Doberman was standing by me barking. He is so protective! I guess it was an after shock, b/c we didn't see anything on the news yesterday saying that it was another one. But, this was definitely bigger (or at least for us). We had found out during the day that the epicenter was about 1.5-2 hours away, and we felt the outskirts. It was a 4.5 quake. Not huge, but still a quake. Even that didn't get this guy moving!!
Anyone else notice that their bones down there (you know like where you are bruised when you ride a horse or bike too long) are achey?
Mine have beena little achey lately. I was hoping that it meant they were stretching out in preparation for labor. Any thoughts?
Well, I need to go put the ribs in the slow cooker for tonight. I'm look forward to TV tonight 2 hour season finale of The Bachelor:Paris and 24. I will record one and watch the other. My luck, this little guy will decide to come tonight!
Hello mamas!
I'm glad to hear others weren't able to get on CC this morning too, and it wasn't just me. I was dying to get on and hear if anyone else had their babies!
Got lots done this weekend. Got carseat installed/inspected, prepared/froze burritos for easy meals on the go once baby arrives, cleaned, got my hair cut/highlighted.
To add to the MIL venting:
Yesterday I went to a baby shower with my MIL where she was able to squeeze in a few unwanted comments. I was telling her about the different labor positions we had learned during our class and I told her that I'm sure Dh will be a wonderful coach and she proceeds to tell me that she'll be in the room too to help. :eek: Ummmm, no. I told her that we weren't going to have an audience while I was in labor. Then, later, she informs me that she is going to be coming over everyday to help with cleaning and cooking. Which is very nice of her to offer but everyday?!?! Hell no. (Oh, and the cherry on top to this story is that his parents call us at 10am on Saturday morning and say they'll be dropping by in 10 minutes for a quick visit...I'm in my pjs, braless, cleaning the house, looking like crap....nice.
So needless to say, I got home from the shower and had a chat with Dh about laying down some ground rules for his parents: No visitors while I'm in labor unless I deem it okay. No unannounced visits to the hospital while I'm in labor, nor to the house once DD is here. There WILL be times that we turn off the phone ringers at home while we are enjoying time with our DD...this does not mean that something is wrong and that you need to jump in your car and come check on us; leave a message on the machine and we'll call you back when it's convenient.
Oh, and the last thing on Dh's agenda to discuss is concerning this crib that MIL found in the attic of her church and has now set it up in her house for the baby to use!!!! WTH!?!?
Vent over.
Oh, I got my first drop of colostrum yesterday. I was so excited I shared the news with Dh, my mom and my sis. As you can imagine, they weren't exactly as thrilled as I was. ;)
I also received my Yes bra. I'm wearing it right as a matter of fact. So comfy! And so reasonably priced!
I have JennZ as going in for a c/s tomorrow!!!! How exciting!!!! Can't wait to hear some news!
Hello Ladies,
I too had trouble getting on the site earlier today! had my OB appt this morning and things still haven't changed! baby is still head down and low but no dialation/effacement. I am supposed to get a call tomorrow to go in to the hospital for my pre-admission testing and then my c/s is for 7am on the 7th! This weekend, we did a lot of running around to get a bunch of stuff we still needed (newborn diapers, extra wipes, extra paper towels, TP, etc). So by the afternoon I was beat and so sore!!! My entire pelvis felt like it was being pulled apart so I was sure that something had to be going on down there but the Dr said nope no change. Oh well at least I have an end in site. I am not sure how much longer I would have the stamina to keep working if I didn't know that this Friday is my last day!
Its pretty sad that I am not only excited to see our new baby but I am also excited to see our families again! We haven't seen anyone since Thanksgiving (except for that brief weekend trip to Chicago when I saw my sis) and I was beginning to feel lonely.
Anyone else feel like there is still so much to do and no time?! I still have to dig our my PISA and clean all the tubes and horns and bottles again, I still need to rearange some things in the baby room, etc. I wish this nesting thing would kick in but since my hips/tailbone hurt so much I don't see it happening.
I have a doctors appointment tomorrow and we'll see if anything else has changed.
Congrats Bernie and Welcome Mia and Max!!! :D
klm So glad you made it to 36w!
Anyone else notice that their bones down there (you know like where you are bruised when you ride a horse or bike too long) are achey?
Yes, definitely.
I had a big cleaning fit Saturday -- cleaned the table off in our sunroom, did 3 loads of laundry, cleaned and organized our files and did dishes. DH put the car seat base in one vehicle yesterday, he still needs to put one in his truck (but will probably do that later). The nursery is pretty much as finished as it's going to get -- yesterday we bought shelves and baskets to put in the closet for extra storage. My mom is still working on the curtains, but I know those won't take her long.
Had some pretty strong BH this weekend, but nothing consistent. I've also had a nagging backache for the last few days.
I was supposed to start having appointments every week now (I wasn't sure after my appt last week), so I had to call and make an appointment for Wednesday. I don't know if they'll start internals or not. I'm scared to get weighed, though, because I've gone through almost 2 big bags of Cadbury mini eggs in the past 5 days. Yikes! At least it's been really nice out so I can get the dog out on some good walks. :)
trm, I totally hear you on the horseback riding thing. It's like the whole way around hurts... not just my lower back but even my lower ab's and pelvis. Very strange feeling like I can't really pinpoint where it's all coming from but I'll take it as a good sign that my babe is moving a bit lower!
As far as the MIL, they live about 30 minutes from here which is totally close enough for me! ;) Hopefully your MIL will let up a bit and get over the name you've picked... which I like a lot by the way! :D
Shannon! Speaking of PIA MIL'S! I think I would have totally lost it at the shower when she said that! Hopefully setting some ground rules will get things in order for you all.
kdotp, those eggs sound so yummy!!!!
I'm feeling good! Just hanging in there. I have noticed I've been very tired the last few days, slowing down for sure. DH is getting more tension headaches, he tends to internalize his stress so I'm sure it's related to being anxious about the delivery and having a newborn in our lives! Other than that I'm feeling very excited about the delievery and not nervous at all. I try to think of the horror stories I've heard as 'other people's stories' and not my own. Also, anything that results in the birth of a healthy child really cannot be a bad thing IMO!!!! :D
I'm so looking forward to meeting our monkey!
kdotp- Sounds like you were busy! So you notice the acheyness too!
Shannon- I think I would have lost it on MIL! I can't believe that she just assumes that she will be in the room with you!:eek: My MIL asked me early on who I wanted in the room. I told her just me and DH. I think she was fishing to see if she could come in. No way!!!
There WILL be times that we turn off the phone ringers at home while we are enjoying time with our DD...this does not mean that something is wrong and that you need to jump in your car and come check on us; leave a message on the machine and we'll call you back when it's convenient.
You so hit the nail on the head! My in-laws only live about 5 minutes away. I have decided that I am not answering the phone this week when she calls. She can leave a freaking message. She will say the same thing anyway, "Yes?". No "Hi how are you?", just "Yes?" as if I called her!:mad: Now watch, she'll drive by the hospital to see if my car is there!:rolleyes: IL's like to just drop by with no warning often now. I just know it will get worse once he is actually here.
Christy- THanks we like the name too! I think she is partly upset b/c it isn't French. But, the middle name will be French so she can deal with it. Plus, she didn't name her own boys French names. I don't know, but she will live. We are supposed to go look at a house we are insterested in buying on Tuesday and she wants to come. NO!!!!! We are adults for goodness sakes. We don't need her butting in all the time! MIL said that she would give me space with my parents while they are here (for 2 weeks). I told her she didn't have to stay away, but now, I am thinking that might be a good idea.
klm, so good to *see* you!! You rbelly looks fabulous! And 36 weeks, wowsers!! I can't wait to hear when those babies are all done :D
oMG shannon you are a saint, I would have lost it on my MIL!! thankfully mine has a healthy respect for personal boundaries/limits. No wmy mother is a while other thread to deal with...:rolleyes:
yey junk! I can't wait to hear details!!
sounds like we have some nesters!! Include me too, I've been going insane cleaning the house and organizing. My fridge was the latest target. pretty funny since we've only lived here 2 months :p
I'm so incredibly bored of the non-fat diet. SO bland. But, anything to keep from having another attack. Operation *get this baby OUT* started saturday when I hit 37 weeks :D Dh is on sex duty, i'm drinking my raspberry leaf tea, doing jumping jacks and hitting the pool. Hopefully somethign works so I can get the surgery done soon as well!!
late march moms- I plan on being around at the end. I figure I can't drop an addiction that easily!
Ditto, I am so excited and can't wait to hear of the new arrivals.
Congrats Bernie and welcome Mia and Max! I can't wait to see pictures, I hope you are adjusting well!
I finally had a chance today to go back and read 30+ pages of missed posts from all you ladies. Your bellies look fantastic and the nursery pictures are adorable. For all the ladies that still need turning vibes, I'm sending them your way.
Andrea: I am so glad that Sean is now home with you. I can't even imagine how difficult this has been for you. He will put on some weight, keep up the good work. You are doing great!
KLM: I hope you are still doing well, I am sending you good baking vibes!
Shannon: Stand your ground girl! MIL's can be such PIA's sometimes.
Junk: Congrats on scheduling your CS!
IU: Sorry, I haven't seen it cheaper, but I'll give it two thumbs up! I am using the same pump and it is working great!
Tray: Jocelyn is beautiful!
Just curious if anyone uses their own due date? I'm still using the one based on ovulation (3/20) as my personal marker; my OB/MW practice considers it to be 3/16 (based on LMP). At this point, it probably doesn't matter much, I guess.
Still not much happening here. I spent about 4 hours in bed yesterday with very painful cramps, but today...nada. It's weird to actually be disappointed when you feel just fine!
I've started a light natural induction campaign...your raspberry leaf tea, your pineapple, your walking, etc. Not sure any of it actually works but at least it allows me to feel like I'm doing something other than just sitting around waiting for this child to announce her presence with authority. :)
mom that second photo is just darling!
Thankfully, my ILs live almost three hours away. And really, MIL isn't overbearing or pushy. Both our sets of parents are all pretty relaxed and will let us do our thing, thankfully; we got really lucky in that area. DH's one grandmother, on the other hand... Well, SIL and I have just learned to smile, nod and tune her "helpful advice" out. :)
Hee. I'm glad I'm not the only one stocking up on pineapple! ;)
Well, it's the home stretch for me!
I am done with everything on my list except baths for DS and DD tonight.
I am so, so excited to meet this little one and also so, so nervous! :)
C-section is scheduled for noon tomorrow, so we are just in waiting mode.
If DH has his Blackberry, I will be able to get online tomorrow afternoon. Otherwise, I'll ask my sister (June 2006 Mommy) to post for me when she gets home.
Wish us luck! :D
Brooke, We've had such a similar pregnancy, hopefully tomorrow will bring your baby, too!!
mom2amelia, That picture is so cute!! It brought tears to my eyes! (It's a weepy day for me today!)
klm, You look great! Perfect belly!
junk, Glad you have an "end" date!
red, You totally crack me up!! Thank you! :D
Shannon, Your patience with your IL's is just proof of what a great mommy you will be! My IL's are driving in tomorrow morning, and driving home tomorrow night (just 2 hours). But that is the perfect amount of time for now! Then they can make another trip later if they want to spend the night.
Sorry for those I missed! Good luck to everyone this week!
I'm really having a baby tomorrow!!!!!!!! WOW and YIKES!! :eek: :D
HI gals! First off ---
Congratulations to my Birth Buddy --- Bernie!
WELCOME MIA & MAX !!
What adorable names!
Feeling much better now. I called out of work day, just to get a mental health day. Actually, I slept bearly a wink last night and felt like I could barely function this am, let alone make the 1+hour drive to work today. This is my last week in the office, then I'm working from home. I don't know if I got overtired from my shower yesterday, but I didnt' feel like, or am I just starting to feel anxious and that led to insomnia?
Finally toured the Hosptial on Saturday. What a warm and welcoming environment. All the nurses we met were so exceptionally nice! I really feel like I'm going to be in great hands.
Also had a M/W appt on Sat. Things are good, but M/W is a little concerned that my BP was little higher than usual and the ankle swelling I'm getting. I haven't had other symptoms though so hope it was just a fluke and I was feeling stressed b/c of the shower that was coming up on Sun.
I was a little bummed to find out that I tested positive for GBS, so I'll need an IV and antibiotics when I first get to the hospital. Fortunately, they can put on a hep lock and I can move freely after that, but I'm not happy about having to pump my kid full of antibiotics right off the bat.
Shower was Sun. It was cold, but we didn't get any snow. Origianlly my family was planning on doing it Feb 12. There was a huge blizzard in this area then, so it totally would not have taken place. Some of the seating arrangements got all screwed up and I felt awful about that. My MIL ended up sitting at the wrong table b/c we just didn't know that layout of the room ahead of time. Then fit the seating to the pre-arranged tables. I felt soooo bad. We got so many generous gifts, I couple of handknit sweaters, a handknit blanket, a beautiful scrapbook with a bunch of pages already set up. Plus all our BIG items and a video camera. It was really nice!
Wow, only 1 day left in Feb and then we are in OUR month.
JennZ Good Luck tomorrow!
So- I tried to roll over in bed last night to get up to use the bathroom
and got this horrible cramp in my groin. Could not turn over and it
hurt so bad I screamed. Woke up poor DH, who thought I was in
labor... I assured him it was just a cramp and he went back to sleep.
After I came back from the bathroom I was talking to the dog telling
her "Come on, hurry up" because she couldnt decide if she wanted to
get up on the bed or not, and he promptly woke up again, thinking it
was really it. It was so cute;)
I officially had a terrible night's sleep last night! So much so that I was convinced that it was early labor. I had terrible back aches, all kinds of contractions that kept waking me up, etc. Then nothing! So I feel like crap today and I'm not even in labor! I thought for sure I'd be waking DH at some point and calling my sister to put her on high alert... no such luck. Oh well, I have to pick up a book at B&N today anyway. :rolleyes: Too bad I'll be too tired to keep my eyes open to read it!
Thank you Shannon, IUAlum and Christy! :)
We ended up getting a Ford Expedition. It has a bench seat in the middle so all three car seats will fit across. Plus, the middle section of the seat slides all the way forward so you can easily reach the baby.
I've only driven it once so far because DH has been trying to monopolize it to "make sure everything works perfectly!" :rolleyes:
Okay, BBL with a BABY update!!!!!!!!!! :D :D
junk- Congrats on setting a c/s date.
mom-Like all the others have said, that second picture is priceless!
I'm getting very anxious! I thought that I had been so good, but now I am just done. DH keeps telling me that he still has a day (today) before he is supposed to be here. I told him that EDD were just estimates. THis little guy should be here! But, nothing. I have had some stronger contractions but still sporadic. If I go to my appt. tomorrow morning and I am STILL only 1cm dialted, I think I might cry!
This is going to have to be the short version, I tried and tried to get on yesterday to no avail...We're going in to have a scheduled c-section today due to some kidney issues that the baby has. We've known about them since the 18 wk u/s, and have been watching them with regular u/s since then. The problem is that they can't really figure out exactly what the exact issue is until she's born and they can do an u/s on her. My OB was worried that due to the kidney being so enlarged and her belly swollen, that a vaginal birth would be too traumatic. I struggled with it for a while, since we had really wanted to go natural, but ultimately, if what is best for the baby is a c-section, that is what we are going to do, without question! Sooooo, in we are going today, scheduled time is noon, but we have to be at the hospital by 10. I went in yesterday to sign consents and get the bloodwork done, at which point, I fainted!! :eek: That is so unlike me and I was so embarrased! I felt dizzy and nauseous for the rest of the day, so I didn't get much done that I had planned on, actually, I didn't get any of it done ;) . And of course, in nervous anticipation, I slept for probably a grand total of 4 hours last night, and haven't been able to eat since 10, so now I'm nervous I'm going to pass out and miss the whole thing (things like this are what kept me up all night :p ). Anyway, I'm sure everything will work out fine, I'll have DH update Junk when baby gets here.
Good luck today Jenn, in case you haven't left yet!!
Quick question... is there a difference between red rasp tea and red rasp leaf tea? Does it matter which one I drink for optimal labor vibes?
amychris03
02-28-2006, 06:42 AM
Amanda: I think specifically the red rasp leaf tea... I found it in the
organics section of my grocery store vs. the regular tea section and
it talks about fertility on the back!
phart
02-28-2006, 06:43 AM
Good luck today, dec!!
Christy~~You don't want reg raspberry tea. You want *leaf* like you can find in a local health food store or organic/health section of a regular grocery store. I had some last time and immediately threw it up. Blech. But, I know some people who can't get enough of it:)
My backache's getting worse--it feels like what my AF cramps used to feel like and yesterday I had some pretty strong/painful BH and tons of movement. I think some of it was due to gas. :o Hopefully I'll know more after my appt tomorrow.
Good luck today JennZ and Dec27bride! I'll be thinking about you both. Dec, don't feel badly about fainting...you are going through A LOT and you are close to 40 wks pregnant. Hope the kidney issue checks out alright.
So, we'll definitely have 10 babies in February. There are a few though that could have been born that we're not sure about. I think a lot of people guessed between 10 and 12 at the beginning of the month.
So, how many will we have in March? I hope for all of our sakes that it is the rest of the babies, but considering my midwives could let me go as late as April 5th...I have the potential of having an April baby. I will seriously cry though if I am still pg when the calendar moves to April!!!
mom2amelia: beautiful belly shot! Your daughter is so cute!
klm: you have a perfect little twin belly. Congrats on making it to 36 weeks! All of our March mommies have done a pretty good job baking these little munchkins!
trm: hang in there...I can imagine it is frustrating when the due date is so darn close!!!
amanda: sorry about the crappy night sleep. Hopefully it is a good sign that things are really starting to happen!
tgal: thanks for checking in. Let us know how things are going these first few weeks of motherhood!
elenitsa: your shower sounded great! Glad you were able to reschedule it after the blizzard.
ce_kathleen: I wish the nesting thing would kick in a little bit more here as well. Is it terrible to admit that I think a part of me is thinking the less prepared I am, the more likely I am to go early? I really don't want to be sitting around waiting the last few weeks, so I think that is causing me to procrastinate a little more.
junk: yay for PT having a birthdate! It'll be here before you know it!
tuni: there's so sporadic cramping here, but absolutely nothing else going on as well. I have that horseback riding pain as well, but nothing too notable. My LMP and ovulation dates are only 1 day apart, but I had an early u/s that comfirmed my ovulation date as my EDD, so my drs. have used that.
kdotp: sounds like things are happening for you! I hate stepping on the scale at the drs. office these days as well. I thought the weight was supposed to slow down at this point, but I seem to keep steadily gaining 1-2 lbs every appt...argh!
shannon: :mad: to your MIL...that would be so frustrating! You definitely have a right to set your boundaries and it is much better if you have hubby do that sooner rather than later. Hang in there!!!
Ok, back to work. I am working from home today...I had no meetings and my back has been bothering me sitting at my desk, so I decided to work from home. I'll probably be working until the bitter end, but thankfully my boss is flexible about telecommuting.
Bests wishes to JennZ and Dec27bride today! Hope everything goes well and you both have healthy and happy babies.
Congrats Bernie! Welcome to little Max and Mia! I love the names, by the way.
Mom, love the pics. You look fabulous!
Junk, Yay for a birthday! It's a little easier when you have that "light at the end of the tunnel."
Update on me...
Still have a breech baby. Stubborn little child takes after mamma already. ;) We have a c-sec planned for Thursday and it's surreal to know when I'm going to meet Baby Bee. I have an apt with my OB in two hours to sign consent forms and do all the pre-op stuff. Pretty sure I"ll find out what time the surgery is scheduled for and all the details, which is making me nervous just thinking about it.
Today is my last day at work, which is loooooong overdue! I sort of feel like a little kid on the last day of school before summer break.
Good luck JennZ and Dec27bride! I can't wait for the baby updates. :)
Nothing to report on my end. I've been getting lots of very strong BH contractions and have strong menstrual-type cramps, but it's nothing consistent. I had 4 contractions that were 3 minutes apart around 4am this morning, but haven't had anything since then. I almost got excited. :p
We'll see how today goes. :)
good Luck JennZ and Dec!!! can't wait to see your cuties!
tunibell funny thing about that fun fact, b/c my OB only gets the OR for scheduled c/s on Tuesdays so both my boys will be Tuesday babies!
yby1 well at least something is going on down there, so it can't be too much longer right? I often wonder if I will ever have a contraction, so far its all been just crampy and with only a week left until my c/s I doubt I will feel anything!:(
honey_bee good luck on Thursday! Are you guys planning to have "your last supper" on Wednesday night? If so go somewhere nice and enjoy your meal since hospital food is less than stellar.:)
heidi0622 well I am an april baby and if I have to say so myself I think having diamonds as your birthstone is pretty cool! So there is something to look forward to having an april baby!:p Oh and I hear you about working until the bitter end! Friday is my last day and then I get to spend Monday at the hospital filling out pre-op stuff and then baby comes Tuesday morn. Thank goodness for working from home!
kdotp I hear you about the gas!:o I don't know where it all came from this past week as I am eating the same but it makes things pretty uncomfy!
trm98 sending you dialation vibes!!! It can't be too much longer right?
Christy5599 sorry you are having the sleep issues too...I feel like I can't get through the day without a nap and unfortunately I can't nap at work!:rolleyes:
amychris03 I have been getting similar pains/cramps when I roll over too! Its so bad that I debate whether its worth it to roll over but with my hips aching so bad I have no choice. I was telling DH that its not like it will be much better once the baby comes b/c with the c/s recovery its agony to roll over at first too.
Elenitsa WOW sounds like you guys made out at your shower! Glad to hear it was a good day even with the cold weather.
mom2amelia Love the pics! What a cutie Amelia is in the second one!
red_canuck Hope you are hanging in there and you don't have any more gall attacks! Will they do surgery right after the baby (while you are still in the hospital) or will you get to recover first?
red_canuck
02-28-2006, 08:34 AM
good Luck JennZ and Dec!!! I can't wait to hear how everything goes and see pictures of the babies!!!
I can't believe all the action in here, it's crazy! Looks like my guess of 10 babies in February wasn't so far off after all! Now if we could just all have March babies, we're good to go :D (looking a tyou here heidi! lol)
honey, good luck Thursday! How awesome is it that you're so close!!
thanks for thinking of me kathleen, I'm still kicking around, no more attacks this week *knock on wood*. Surgery depends on what happens between now and baby. Any more attacks and they will c-section baby out and take out my gallbladder in one shot since it is so close to exploding. No attacks before baby means I could potentially have time to recover from birth for up to 6 weeks. So I am being uber uber careful to eat 0 fat so I can wait on the surgery until nipple confusion isn't such an issue :)
Good luck to JennZ and Dec27. We're all waiting anxiously for your news.
Thank you to everyone for your sweet comments about my belly shots, or more specifically about the previous resident of my belly. She loves to kiss and hug my belly and tell the baby "this is your big sister, Amelia." Of course, I know, having been a big sister now for 33 years, that she is in for the shock of her life when the baby actually gets here. ;) For now though, she's really excited.
honey_bee - good luck on Thursday. Hope you're able to relax between now and then.
junk - looks like your kidlet and mine might come on the same day. I am tenatively scheduled to be induced on the 15th (unless I can convince my OB to let me go another week).
I had my 37w appointment today. Everything looks fine - up about 1lb for a total of 35 (eek!) and bp is holding steady at 110/68. I am GBS neg, so that's good - it's about the only test I "passed" this whole pregnancy! He didn't do an internal this week, but he will next week. If I'm starting to move at all, he'll induce on the 15th (he doesn't like his GD moms to go post-date). If I'm still long, hard, and closed, he'll maybe give me an extra week. He'll check me on Monday the 13th, if I haven't made any real progress by then he'll make a decision then. I'm pretty sure he'll let me go to the 22nd if I'm still tightly closed on the 13th. If he still plans to induce on the 15th, then on the 13th I'll start trying home remedies - castor oil etc. He said that it was fine and that if he knew what worked, he'd prescribe it! If he'll let me go the 22nd, then I'll wait until the 20th to start trying to naturally induce labor. I just really want to avoid pitocin this time. Mostly, I want to avoid being hooked up to IVs and monitors the whole time. Keep your fingers crossed for me that this kid decides to come all on his/her own.
So that's my fun update du jour. I'm so tired I can't think straight - the pelvic pain and heartburn are killer. I haven't slept more than an hour straight in a week. I'm looking forward to having the baby just so when I do sleep it's not so uncomfortable.
I am so far behind. Now that I'm on maternity leave and with a slower computer it is difficult for me to post often, though I promise I am reading dilligently along.:)
Had my doc appt. yesterday. All is well. Down another 2 lbs. My appetite is the pits these days and I have no room in my stomach for food. Doc said my pregnancy is perfect. He also said my weight is perfect (he was the same on e who yelled at me for gaining a month ago. I don't get it?) All is measuring on target and I am still feeling great. Using this time off to get the last minute stuff done!:)
amychris - Funny about DH thinking that was "it."
JennZ and Dec - Good Luck! Can't wait to hear!
Wanted to send good wishes to JennZ and Dec. on their births today. I can't wait to hear the good news.
Honeybee: Sorry to hear the little one didn't turn, but I am so excited to hear that you too will have your little one on Thursday. I can't wait to hear your announcement as well.
Mom: I'm still having the hormonal swings here and the visual of Amelia huging your belly talking to the baby brought tears to my eyes. Too cute!
Everyone, I am having fun reading along sharing in your experiences! You all are doing great!
----------
Things are going well here. I haven't typed up a birth story because this is something our doula volunteered to do and I am sure she will capture things a little better. Especially, looking back, everything is such a haze. I'm also not sure how much info is enough and not too much because I don't want to freak anyone out with my story.
Anyway, life with the baby is fantastic despite the lack of sleep and the madness of having either doctors apts. or visitors everyday the first week. My milk came in on day 3 and on day 4 I experienced full engorgement, which wasn't as unpleasant as I imagined, but it was difficult to get her to latch on without expressing. Feedings one day can be every 3 hours and then we get a day where she has a little growth spirt and wants to eat every hour, which is really draining. By her first dr. visit, 5 days old, she had lost 6 ozs, so hopefully by her apt. tomorrow, almost 2weeks, she will be back up to her full birth weight. I'll try to post more pictures later. I was able to capture a smile when she was sleeping the other day. :D
tgal, I'd love to read your birth story. How cool that your doula is writing one...it should be very interesting to read a different perspective. Don't worry about freaking any of us out... we need to hear the good with the not so pleasant. :) At least that helps me prepare mentally. I'm so glad things are going well for you and Eva! Can't wait to see pictures!
Ian Michael was born Sunday, at 6:16 am.
Yep, my water had been leaking! It was a long, somewhat dramatic at times, process. So, my water broke friday night, & he came sunday morning......
He was 6lbs, 10 oz, and 18 inches.
Be back later, we got home a few hours ago.
Just back from the pool where a lady in the locker room asked when I
was due and pronounced that I looked like I was ready to pop. Thanks
a lot!!! Then she said it must be hard to carry all that extra weight since
I'm so small. Im not sure if it was a compliment or not:rolleyes: Oh well,
amychris- ahh, the pool sounds heavenly. I would take that comment as a compliment, definitely.
I think I predicted that 1/2 of our babies would be born in February. How many do we expect total? We still don't know about aprilshowers, right?
ETA: I went back and counted and it looks like we're expecting about 38 babies in this thread. I only counted people who are active in the thread though. I didn't count those ladies who haven't posted in recent months. Does 38 sound about right?
Amy- I would take that as a compliment meaning that you are allo baby on an otherwise tiny frame!
IUAlum-Great deal on the pump. My sister is giving me hers, thank goodness...it is the same expensive one you're getting.
I guessed 11 thinking it was a little high. Of course I also thought for sure that I would be one of those!:rolleyes:
Congratulations Jen! And welcome Ian Michael! I love the name (I think I mentioned earlier that those were my brother's first and middle names!)
I think I guessed 14 babies, with one set of twins holding off until March. Man, I'm never this lucky!
kdotp - Wow! - that was some great guessing (I do remember that someone guessed one set of twins would wait until March). It looks like my boys will definitely March babies. I never would have believed it, but I am really glad that they have made it this far.
I had a doctors appointment today (my regular doctor was out of town, but we saw her partner who I saw several times while I was in the hospital). We did a quick ultrasound to check the boys positions (both still head down) and fluid levels (both still good). She also checked my cervix which was still the same as last week (100% effaced, 4+ cm dilated). We then talked a little about delivery options - she thinks that deliverling them vaginally is still possible unless something arises in the next little while.
My blood pressure is starting to creep up a little, but since it hasn't been an issue before they weren't too concerned. I have an ultrasound next Wednesday to check the babies sizes and will see my regular doctor next Thursday at which point we will discuss induction.
Things are going pretty good here. Sean had a restless night and I'm crossing my fingers that it gets better tonight. His fussy time of the night seems to be around 11:00.
I did get to get out of the house today for a little while. DH stayed with Sean while i went to the mall, target and to the grocery store. I sure did miss my little guy, but it was nice to get out of the house.
Jenn Z and Dec - can't wait to hear news of your babies!
Ladies - thanks for all of your good thoughts and well wishes!
We're finally home with baby Mia, but they are keeping Max in for another couple of days. He was actually fine until this morning, but when our ped made her daily rounds, she told us that the nurses observed him having episodes where his coloring turned blue - and they sent him to the NICU for further observation. The NICU doctors think there might be some kind of feeding issue, but they didn't really tell us too much. The good news is that they don't seem to think that there is anything majorly wrong, and he should be home with us later this week. The bad news is that we couldn't take our baby boy home with us today. DH has been great - but I've been a wreck today - I just can't seem to stop crying and feeling guilty that I can't be with both babies at once. And the lack of sleep and post-natal hormones probably isn't helping my emotional state!
On a more positive note - the majority of our hospital stay was really great - hopefully I'll get around to writing out my birth story sometime soon. Recovery from the c-section has been so much better than I expected, and breastfeeding has been going pretty well - although my boobs haven't had much of a break, especially now that I'm trying to feed Amelia and pump for Max.
Hope everyone here is doing okay - I can't wait to hear about more babies!
Oh - and happy March!!!!
Congrats to Jennz and Jen !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Welcome to the two new little boys..... Its hard to believe that tomorrow is March 1.... Makes everything seem more real as this is the month we will all have our babies.
Nothing new going on with me.... I love not working but am getting bored. I am waiting for my little girl to make her presence. Its going to be a long month if she stays inside until her due date. I swear not working has made me more tired as I really could sleep all day and not be bothered. Lucky for me I still have school so I do leave the house for a couple of hours.....
Bernie, I am sorry your little man is still in the hospital Wishing him the best, and hope that you get to take him home soon.......
For everyone else I hope you are all well
Bernie - I hope you have that little fella home soon! Glad to hear that things are going so well despite Max's extended stay.
Did some housekeeping on the old thread today...I went ahead and removed any listings of members who haven't posted in the Third Trimester thread from the first page (and most of the names I removed hadn't posted since the first thread), so we have a more accurate count. (I saved them all in another document, though, so they can be popped back in anytime if they resurface.) Anyhow, if anyone objects, I can paste them back in...
Bernie- That is great news that Mia is home! I am sorry that Max was able to come home as well. All will be well, and hopefully he will be home by Friday! Glad to hear that other than the sore BBs and post hormone guilty feelings that you are recovering better than expected!
tuni-Great job and great idea. I was just looking at the EDD list yesterday to see who already had their babies and there were quite a few who we hadn't heard from in quite a while.
amychris-Sorry about the bad nights sleep. I am right there with you. I really am officially DONE! I was so freaking miserable last night.
Haven't heard from Brooke in a while. Can't wait to hear from aprilshowers and Dec27bride!
Doesn't honey bee go in today for a c-section or is that tomorrow? Best wishes!!
40weeks
So, today is the EDD for me. I have an appt in about an hour. I am so serious that if I have not made much progress I am going to cry. I have been becoming more and more miserable the past week and yesterday was it. I can't find a comfortable position to sit or lie down in. I had 4 or 5 glasses of milk last night b/c my heartburn was so bad. Actually though it was more like acid reflux. TMI ALERT Everything kept coming back up in my mouth. I was having contractions that made it very hard to catch a deep breath. I finally fell asleep around 3:30, albeit sitting straight up in bed with a magic bag on my chest. I felt so nauseous last night. OK, enough complaining. I have to go get ready for my appt. BBL with an update.
amychris03 I too had terrible sleep last night! I have been going to the pool every Friday and while it feels great in there I usually sleep terribly on Friday night, not sure why? but it does get the baby moving!
tunibell thanks for the clean up job!
Bernie so sorry to hear that Max isn't home yet! But it sounds like you are doing a great job, especially BF twins!
ajb524 when we first brought Alex home his fussy time was from like 10:30-midnight! We joked with our family to feel free to call anytime up to midnight since we would surely be up! Luckily my sis and DH's bros are all college age so they would actually call to keep us company over the phone during those trying hours. I feel your pain!
klm2klh sounds like you have all the rights stuff going for you! Hopefully you will have smooth sailing until the kiddos come!
tgal sounds like you guys are getting along great! can't wait to read your birth story! With Alex he had lost a pound by the time he was a week old (my milk came in late) but by his 2 week appt he was slightly above his birth weight so I would think you guys should be fine!
03-01-2006, 08:50 AM
ce_kathleen, mom2amelia, heidi and shannon- Thanks for the well wishes. I need the positive thoughts right now.
38 week appt: 1st internal...1cm 30% effaced
39 week appt: 1cm 30% effaced
40 week appt: 1cm 50% effaced:mad: :(
I have been having stronger and more contractions this last week and where does it get me? Only 20% more effaced.
I was weighed, and have gained a total of 30lbs. for the pregnancy. I was shooting for 25 , but oh well. Then, the nurse took me to a room to put me on a monitor for 20 minutes. Everything looked great there and baby was moving. I went back to the clinic and a woman walks in. It is a male Dr. on call, so I am a little puzzled. Turns out that she is a med student that is on-call with the Dr. until Friday at midnight. She explains that everything looks great with the monitor reading. She also said that she would be stripping my membranes, and that sometimes that helps spur on labor. I had heard that this really hurt, so I was expecting something bad. Either she just didn't get it really good or I am numb down there, b/c I felt very little of it. Evidently there are quite a few women that are at 40 weeks, so they were stripping a lot today. She said her and the Dr have a bet going as to who can have the most women go into labor after stripping their membranes. I told her with how things are progressing that she might be out of luck with me. Then she said that at least I was lucky to have her do the procedure instead of the "man hands" Dr. ;) I was so against having a student in the deliver room, but I wouldn't mind her at all. She was really cool and nice. Very easy to talk to with a great sense of humor. Now though I am wondering if it is a different dr on-call this weekend. I thought the drs were on-call Sunday-Sunday. But, it might be Sunday to Friday and then someone comes in for the weekend? If so, this weekend will probably be the one Dr. that I hate! I hope not. The Dr came in later and said that everything looks great with both baby and me, and that now we just needed to get this guy to come out! I now go back on Sunday morning for another monitor reading (they evidently want to keep a close eye on the baby to make sure that he isn't under stress). If all is well, then I will make an appt. for next week at that time. They will then schedule an induction at that appt. So, I figure that if I don't go into labor before next Tuesday, that I will probably be induced on Thursday. It will be my Dr. oncall next week. So, that is where I stand. Not a whole heck of a lot going on.
Nothing exciting here! Had my 2 showers this weekend... I was definitely wiped out by Sunday night. ;)
Now I gotta get hubby to set the crib up, and start putting everything away! (and figure out what I need to return and what I need to still get!)
No nesting going on here whatsoever. Still waiting for that to kick in...
Don't have my hospital bag pack either. Not even started. Yeah okay, I'm the procrastinator... but hubby isn't any better!! Of course, I just got everything turned over at work to our new guy, so now I'll have more internet time (ha ha), and I'll be the bored one! I'm still planning on working until the bitter end. :) So there's a lack of procrastination there!
We haven't done a QOTD in a while, anyone interested? I just thought of this because I booked it today - Anyone else getting a pedicure before labour? Hey Red, I actually put a QOTD today about girdles, but I think it got lost in all the congratulatory messages.
QOTD Girdles: My mom asked me if I bought a girdle for PP? Anyone heard of that or any buy one or has anyone suggested that as a good method to help get back your shape?
QOTD Mani / Pedi: I just got one this past weekend. So I think the toes will be good for the next few weeks. I would love to get a massage scheduled though. Does anyone think its too late at 39 weeks?
trm98
03-01-2006, 11:43 AM
Girdles- Never heard of that, and don't plan on it. Then again, I am not going to get nursing bras either unless I just really, really need them.
Pedi- I had a mani, pedi and massage (just the back) at 38 weeks 5 days. It was heaven!!!! I wouldn't worry about being 39weeks. Baby is good to go at this point. Just let them know when you book the appt.
phart
03-01-2006, 11:44 AM
QOTD Girdles:~~No. What is the purpose? Just to hold the fat/skin in? A friend bought one just to help hold the *fat* in but I'm not sure how much she used it. Should find out.
QOTD Mani / Pedi: ~~Doubt it. I plan to wear socks as my feet are always cold. I do plan to paint my toes though just in case. I hate nekid toes but like to give them some time to breathe in the cold months:)
Congrats Allyssa & Jennz!!
So, this little guy is starting to already eat a little more, but every 2 hours. It was a busy, busy night!
So, my water broke friday night, a leak I guess, it did not stop until almost late saturday afternoon. We got to OB triage about 9am, & they would not induce me until I had a room, which was about 4pm or so. So we walked the halls & did the stairs, & I was at 1 cm the whole day. Then I got to a room & they put Cervigel, or something like that, on my cervix to soften it, so I could get pitocin, & said this would take about 12 hrs!!!!
Well, 10 minutes later I had a HORRIBLE contraction, that would not stop, got the nurse, who ran in with a horrified look & told me the baby just dumped (gee thanks), & then proceeded to make me turn from side to side, & push on my stomach, etc. We ended up with a room full of nurses, & then got the internal fetal monitor in, & found his heart rate finally. So, it actually dilated me to 2 cm, & 80% effaced. About 1/2 hr later I got my epidural because I was a basket case after that & so scared of the intense contractions I was having. So then they started the pitocin about 9pm, & I dilated 1 cm every hr, & he dropped a ton by 8 cm he was already passed my pelvic bone. But I rally had to stay the whole night on my left side & with oxygen on for him to tolerate the contractions. So it was a bit nerve wracking, but I only had to push thru 6 contractions, he was so low, & by the time they called the doctor, I had to sit thru 2 more contractions without pushing which was so hard!! So I gave one little push & one big push & he was out!!
I had them use the mirror which was so awesome & I highly recommend it to you guys! He did come out with his hand & head so I did tear. Fun, fun.
So, those of you with 2 story houses, definitely set up things both places as you will be limited use of stairs. Definitely by stool softeners! And Pads, but my bleeding really has let up alot already. This "jelly-belly" takes alot of getting used to, it really does.
Bye for now!
Christy5599
03-01-2006, 11:49 AM
You are too funny Stef... I'm looking forward to making that phone call!!!! Hopefully sooner rather than later!
Girdle, nope, not for me but I have seen them advertised.
Mani/Pedi: I had a mani last week but the awesome thing about my hospital is they have a full blown spa right there! Everything from mani's to facials to massages and they will come to your room to do anything. I think I may hit up the in laws for a treat while I'm there... it would be nice to be pampered before the real work of daily life with a newborn hits!
Tracie, are you going to take advantage of that too?
So I'm nesting like crazy this afternoon... I want to take the dog for a walk to get labor going but it's freezing outside! So I figure the next best thing is scouring the first floor. DH is going to roll his eyes at me when he gets home I think. Oh well! :D
QOTD- pedi- I have horrid looking feet but I still don't think I'm going to get a pedi. I've only had one in my life. Just not big on people touching my feet. I'll probably paint my toenails but, like Shannon, I plan on having socks on. But even if I don't, I'm sure my feet will be the last thing I'm thinking of at that point. ;)
jen71, thanks for sharing your story! Sounds like things were a little scary there for a bit but I'm so happy that everything turned out wonderful in the end. Looking so forward to the jelly belly.:rolleyes:
girdle My cousin just asked me yesterday if I was wearing tight clothing around my stomach because if I didnt I would have flabby skin. I personally dont buy that. Yes, there will be flab but it does fade and can go away with some work. It did with #1 at least :) I would rather be comfortable during the pp time!
mani / pedi I get a pedicure every other week and didnt give those up yet... LOVE THEM :p
What a story Jen! I am glad everything worked out perfectly :D
girdle I've heard of wearing girdles post pregnancy, but most likely won't.
pedicure I got one when I got my hair cut two weeks ago, and it still looks good. So nice to have my toes pretty again. :)
Jen:: Wow What a story! Yeesh!
QOTD's:
Girdle: Nope - never heard that one!
Pedi: You betcha, yes! I'm a biweekly schedule and I *love* the foot massage so I'll definitely be getting a mani/pedi the day or two before. I'm a sucker for pretty feet, what can I say? ;)
Not much else. I'm *HUGE* -- I've gained 31 pounds thus far. I am hoping to keep it below 35 pounds in total. Doc says babe is measuring right on track. Heartbeat is great.
My legs are *terribly* swollen and ankles and feet look like loaves of bread! And they hurt like hell! Just had to buy a pair of shoes 2 sizes large because nothing else fits including FLIPFLOPS!
Oh, Eric Stoltz was at babycare class again last night...he asked a lot of questions...I couldn't help but stare.
That's about it. Just gearing up for baby to arrive; looks like he'll be in SIXTEEN DAYS!!!!:eek: It's really wild to actually know his birthdate.
Take care, lovelies, and I'll be back soon!
Congrats Dec and Welcome to Arleigh!!!:)
JenWow! What a story... I just told DH that he has to get the
Pack and Play set up for downstairs, thanks for the tip;)
Girdle:
Nah- I think I need the motivation of the jelly belly in order to get out
there and exercise. Im going to the beach 4 months PP and have
to look presentable!
Pedi: I doubt it- We are trying to save money so I figure I will
just paint them myself. I always have cold feet though so most likely
I will be in socks the majority of the time!
Hoping Brooke and Aprilshowers are doing ok!!!:)
Had an ob appt today, including another ultrasound since I continue to measure big. Ultrasound revealed that she's in the 80th percentile for size (down from 90th percentile from last ultrasound) and that she should weigh approx 7lbs right now...granted, we all know how those estimates can be skewed a little. Everything looks great. She continues to be head-down. Ob didn't do an internal so I don't know if I've changed from my 50% effaced/0 cm dilated from last week....but I'm actually glad that she didn't do an internal because if I was the same, I'm sure I'd be a *tiny* bit bummed.
That's all for now! I gotta go gather some notes together for a preliminary interview/screening I have for a potential part-time job for next school year. It's tomorrow at 3:30...I'm sure I'll shock them when I waddle in with my big ol' belly!
I had my OB appointment today and they scheduled my induction date for March 8th!! This was my last OB appointment, how wild is that?! :eek:
Congrats Dec27th and a big welcome to Arleigh!!
QOTD Girdles: My mom wants to get me one. She wore one after she had me and she looked great. My Grandmother wore one after all 14 of her pregnancies and she still had a great figure when she passed. I think it's more genetics than anything else. All I can say about possibly wearing one is...ouch.
QOTD Mani / Pedi: I have an appointment for this Saturday. :)
Congrats Dec 27 and welcome baby Arleigh!!!!!
My Grandmother wore one after all 14 of her pregnancies
Holy Cow!! Your Grandma was a saint to go through 14 pregnancies!! :D
QOTD Girdles ~ Probably not, although it doesn't sound like a bad idea. I wonder if they really help at all?
QOTD Mani/Pedi ~ Plan on a pedi before due date, for the leg massage more than anything! But I like pretty toes too. I'm just not so sure about getting a pedi with these tree trunks for legs! And the fact the I swear I fractured my little toe Sunday! Don't want them to hurt my toe more.
junk ~ I am SO right there with you! I bought shoes 2 sizes bigger too, but they are kind of uncomfortable because my heels keep slipping out! I swear my calves are as big as my thighs!!! I tried kneeing tonight to help DH put together the crib, and I feel like I was kneeling on water balloons!
As Brooke's Labor Buddy I would like to annouce that she had her BABY
Declan Glennon was born on 02/27/06 @ 8:47 pm weighing in at 7lbs 9 oz and 19.5 inches long......
She sent pics and the baby is beautiful, but I will let her share
Congratulations Brooke! Welcome Declan!! Can't wait to hear the birth story.
Girdle - nah. I just want to be comfortable PP. I will wear my spanx to pull in my belly if I have to go anywhere nice, but otherwise I'll let it all hang out until I get my butt in gear to work it off.
pedi - have one scheduled for Saturday. I had a GC that I was saving just for this. I'm also doing my brows and maybe a mani. I wore socks with Amelia, so I don't really think anyone will see my toes, but I need the foot and leg massage. Need it!!
Congratulations Brooke and Welcome Declan!!! Love the name and can't wait to see some pictures and hear your story!!
QOTD, girdle: probably not...I had never heard of them before they were mentioned here. Although if enough people start raving about the benefits, I may be tempted to try.
QOTD, pedi: I SO wish I could get a pedicure. Unfortunately, I have this horrible toe fungus problem that I can't get rid of (did I just admit that online? :o ). The only thing that will truly get rid of it is an oral prescription of Lamisil. That is a huge no-no while you're pregnant and my podiatrist doesn't even want me taking it until I've decided I'm done having children. So who knows when the next time I will get a pedicure will be?!
Had my 37 week appt. They don't start internals until about the 39 week point...I highly doubt there would have been any progress anyway. Baby was head down and she thought the baby may have dropped a bit, but truthfully it has been low most of the pregnancy, so I'm not sure. Other than that...everything looked good. BP is fine, HR was in the 120s - baby was kicking the doppler, so that was fun. I can't seem to stop gaining weight though and still was up 1lb this week. That puts total weight gain at over 30 lbs. I only gained a lb in the first trimester, but whooo boy have I made up for it these last two trimesters. I will have A LOT of work to do once this baby is born!!!
Who else is in the Northeast and hasn't had their baby yet? My co-workers were joking yesterday about the drop in barametric pressure due to a snow storm may send me into labor. I'm hoping not, I need at least another week. But I think there is a full moon next week. That may also help things move along.
Congratulations Brooke and Welcome Declan!!!
Elenitsa, I'll take that labor vibe! Today is the first day I've really thought, OK, let's get the show on the road! :D
Just had my 39 week appt, next one is in a week where they will examine me and set an induction date if I still haven't gone on my own. Tuesday will be 40 weeks and they don't like to let you go past 41 so they schedule then. Hopefully the word 'induction' will scare this kid out of me! Pitocin is the devil!
I'm so tired today! My back is killing me from all that cleaning yesterday... and I didn't sleep well to top it all off. Going to hit the couch and probably not get up again until Matt gets home.
Elenitsa My husband said the same thing about the barometric
pressure... This did happen to our friend the last snow storm we had,
down in DC. There were so many women in labor at her hospital they
had to sleep in the lobby for about 4 hours until a bed opened up.
WOW! Congrats to all the new mommies and babies! Things are moving here in the March thread!!!
QOTD: Mani/Pedi- I am planning on getting one on Saturday- thanks for the reminder to make an appointment. Now what color screams, "I'm about to have a baby?"
Update on me: Had an appointment yesterday. I am 1cm dilated, 50% effaced, and baby is at 0 station. I'm also up about 32 pounds so far for the pregnancy, which is good enough.
In my ideal world, I go into labor on Sunday and have the baby early Monday. I doubt that will actually happen, but it would work for me! :D
BTW, my breast pump shipped already! I ordered it on Tuesday and it shipped on Wednesday and is scheduled to be here TODAY! Not bad for $100 off retail! I will report back with the condition of it later.
CONGRATS BROOKE and WELCOME DECLAN!
I want the story behind the name!:D I was just about to come in here and say that Brooke had to have had her baby b/c she has never gone this long without posting. I'm hoping that everything is OK with aprilshowers. It has been almost a week.
FYI about PEDI- Just a thought. My dr. told me to NOT paint my nails (toe or finger) b/c they will look at you nails for pressure sometimes. Plus, if something does goes wrong and you need a c-section, you can't have polish on the nails. I have clear polish on my fingers, but nothing on my toes. Just a thought.
Jenn71-WOW! What a story! Thanks for sharing. I can't believe that you had to wait so long for a bed!:eek: Glad that you and Ian are doing well!
Christy- Your hospital rocks! I woud so be taking advantage of the spa. What a great idea!! Well, we haven't heard from aprilshowers, but it looks like you and I are the only two left of those due for the first week. Crazy how many early babies we had!
junk- I am down to one pair of shoes (my snow boots, which suck to weigh in with btw). I can't even imagine how bad the swelling would be if I was in warm weather! Of course cold weather has it's drawbacks b/c I have to wear shoes that are closed toed and heeled. I guess you can never win!:rolleyes: I hope that the swelling goes down soon. Only 4 more days until the Oscars are over!!!! And, you have a definite end date in sight. That must be a HUGE relief!
Shannon-Glad that the baby is still looking good. Sounds like you have an overachiever already! Good luck on the interview today!
yby1-Yay! You have a DEFIITE end date in sight too! Congrats! Only 6 more days!!
Bernie- That is great news about Max. I hope that he has his homecoming tomorrow!!!!
MCD-OUCH! I hate when I hit my little toe. It is amazing how something so small can hurt so bad! Just mention that to the pedicurist, I'm sure they will be gentle!
heidi- Don't worry about the weight gain. I consistantly have put on 2 lbs. per week the last four weeks. My dr. keeps telling me that a pound a week goes to the baby. Now, I know the other pound is going to my hips and butt!:rolleyes: I actually lost ten pounds in the first trimestser, but I have more than made up for it in the last two (especially the last one) as well.:rolleyes: That sucks about the toe fungus. That is a long time to wait to get rid of the thing!
Elenitsa-Oh, I was getting all excited about the snow storm possibility. I mean, spicy food, walking, DTD, eartyhquakes, nothing has gotten this guy out yet. I was hopeful about the snowstorm, but it is going to miss me. I mean we have snow predicted for the next three days, but it is no where near the amount needed to be considered a "snowstorm" in Canada.:mad: FYI:The full moon is on the 14th.
Christy5599
Hopefully the word 'induction' will scare this kid out of me! Pitocin is the devil!
That's what I keep telling this guy. But, he seems WAY too comfortable.
amychris03
There were so many women in labor at her hospital they
had to sleep in the lobby for about 4 hours until a bed opened up.
That is crazy!!
IUALUM- WOW! That is fast service. Great deal as well!!
******************
So, I think the stripping of the membranes was worthless. Granted it has only been about 26 hours, but I have seen NOTHING. I haven't had any bleeding or spotting. No sign of the mucuous plug. I haven't even had any cramping that a lot of women have talked about after the membrane stripping, and I have had fewer contractions. Not that that matters since they really weren't getting me anywhere anyway. Can y'all tell that patience is not a virtue of mine!
DH was upset yesterday. He really thought that this guy would come early. Then as we approached bed time last night (11pm) and it was obvious that he would not arrive on his due date, DH said, "This guy was supposed to be here already.". I told him I totally understand his frustration, and that hopefully the very latest is next Friday. We are both just so ready.
We watched Friends last night and it was the one where Rachel was overdue by a week. At one point, she screamed at her belly, "GET OUT! GET OUT! GETOUT!" I know how she feels!!
MIL actually has not called since Monday! I think that is a record. I just knew she would call yesterday since it was my EDD and I had a DR appt. Not to mention that DH and I had looked at a house that we thought we might buy Tuesday night. But, I guess she has taken the hint. Thank goodness!
I assume that my next appt will be Tuesday and they will set an induction date then. I would be 40 weeks 6 days, so I hope so. But, I really don't want to be induced, so this little guy better get with it!
Shannon,
I ordered the Ameda Purely Yours through BabyCatalog.com, I didn't really price shop it much, as I ordered an Armsreach Mini Co-Sleeper too and got that for $109. HTH
Bring on the babies!
Welcome to the world little Ian, Grahm, Arleigh and Declan! Congrats to all the moms and I hope everyone is healthy and recovering quickly! I can't wait to see pics and hear stories.
Honey Bee: You are in my thoughts today, you are going to do fantastic!
Bernie: I am so sorry to hear about Max. I am sure it is really hard right now, but be strong for that little boy. He will be home soon. Also, cry all you need, it takes awhile for the hormones to go back to normal and you are not alone!
Girdle: If you really want to get one, I strongly recommend SPANX!
Pedicure: Wanted to get one, but didn't have enough time, so my feet were horrible. Honestly, it was the last thing that I was thinking about! ;)
Hi ladies-
I'm skimming along while pumping, but I had to pop in to congratulate Brooke and welcome Declan!!!!!
tgal - Eva is absolutely beautiful!!! Glad to hear she is putting on weight!
re: nail polish - This might be a hospital specific thing. My c-section instructions specifically said that nail polish was okay, but I've heard that some hospitals won't let you have any on.
re: pumps - I also got an Ameda Purely Yours - I love it so far. Not sure what site I ordered it from - but I think the site I ordered it from did not have the lowest price, but it did have a 30 day money back guarantee.
Max looked great this morning - he nursed for 15 minutes and then took a full 2 ounce bottle, which seemed to impress all of his nurses. He might not be home until Saturday - but as long as he is getting stronger, I'm happy! I just don't want his sister to start thinking she is an only child!
Bernie- HUGS!! So glad Max is doing better. Fingers crossed for saturday!
Congrats Brooke!
Hanging in htere, we had a good night. Ian is eating 2-21/2 oz now, & pushed to every 3 hours last night. So, we feel a bit more rested today. We have had a few peeing incidents, Dh & I are so not used to a little boy!!:rolleyes: I guess the other night he peed all over the dining room table & just barely missed one of the dogs, & this morning he peed & got all over DH who stood there trying to catch it! It was so funny. I was thinking about building an awning over the changing area. We had him circumsised so I am not able to POINT him down yet, so he pees out of the diapers alot too.
MIL is coming over today. Yee haw. She called at 2 yesterday & asked if she could come over to see the kids, & I felt like saying, no but you can come over & do my laundry & bring dinner. God forbid that woman does anything helpful. Oh she drives me nuts. So now I have to deal with her today, while I feel so blah. Like the 10 minute process to pee, & doing sitz baths, & now my milk is in (I am not BF) so my boobs are KILLING me. Ok, can you tell I don't really like her?
Hope everyone is good. I have to tell you guys to add to my story, when I had to wait thru 2 contractions, it took the dr 15 minutes to get to my room, the one nurse put gloves on ready just in case, which really did not bother me, except I was worried about a cord problem due to his heart rate thru the contractions & all. But 15 MINUTES, with his head hanging there!! UGH!
After 36 hours of back/active labor (more on that when I can put together birth story) and 1 hour of pushing, we had a beautiful son... Still hurting quite a bit - 2nd degree tear and very sore nipples due to some early latching issues...
Working on 5 hours sleep over the past 6 days, but as most of you know or will know...it is totally worth it...I still am in awe of my son and have to force myself to sleep when he does as I just stare...
Today was a rough day... While walking the dog in the snow, noticed some blood in her
pee... The dr thinks she just has a UTI, which should resolve itself within 36 hours.
Otherwise she may have stones and we'd have to get xrays done. So keep your
fingers crossed that this resolves itself quickly and no surgery is required!
