Hi, I'm just subscribing to the new thread.

Threadmistress, can you please change my age to 28, thanks!

I hope everyone is doing well. Does anyone have special plans for New Years?

lildan those pictures you posted in the other thread were adorable!

New Years We are going out to dinner with two other couples. I am so excited for a night out like that. One of the couples though is having major infertility issues though. Several failed rounds of IUI and two of IVF so they are pretty depressed. I hope it is not strained conversation. I feel guilty because we started trying the same month and now I have Dylan and another on the way and they are not even pg yet. Sorry for the tangent, guess I am having a little anxiety about it!

Mrs B thanks for the new thread!

Dylan has a terrible cold and cough. This is only the second time he has been sick so I am just not used to this and so sad. He is still so happy though. he did not nap well today so I went and got those Sudacare plug in things. Hopefully that will help him tonight. He has his 18 month appt tomorrow so I am happy that he will be seeing the ped so he can have his ears checked. Hope everyone is enjoying the holidays!!

mrs_barkley: Thanks for starting a new thread.......makes it easier for me to catch up! ;)

Sal: Thanks! I completely understand your wariness about dinner. We have friends that have been trying to get pregnant now for about 18 months. They've tried IVF multiple times and finally in January she is having scar tissue removed from her uterus (there from a prior health issue) to see if that helps the fertilized egg implant. Anyway, I always feel a little sensitive when we are together. I try not to talk about Alexander too much. I don't have any good advice, but I can empathize with you.

************************************************** ************************

New Years Eve: We're having a clam year this year, going to dinner at a restaurant called Mamie's with my parents, grandmother, and Alexander. Then we are going back to my parents house, putting on our pajamas, and watching the ball drop. Granted, there will be beer/wine involved in all of that but there will be no dancing on top of the bar for me this year. :p

oooh a new thread, we'll see how well I can keep up with this one. oh and threadmaster, I'm 30 and DH is 31, *sigh*

New Year's Eve (day) we will be going to a wedding banquet. Then New Year's Eve (night) eating tons of food at my mom's house. We have to eat long noodles so we can have a long life, eat grapes, so our year will be fruitful... that kind of stuff...
New Year's day we'll be chilling with friends.

Sorry I didn't have time to post this earlier, here's some christmas pics and a recap.

Melissa -
Thanks, I am going to go check it out. I've decided we will be giving him a cart for Valentine's instead (just bought too many gifts for Christmas) so I still have time to exchange the one I got if I decide to. And I'd like to get him some wooden food to go with it, or at least some plastic stuff that doesn't contain french fries or kfc (no offense to anyone who works or eats at those places) ;)

Congrats AMC on the new baby!

And congrats Caroline on another girl!

Genn - Cute pics!

Kelli - Cute pics from you too! Glad you are having fun with your new camera. The picture of Leah doing "the look" is too funny!
Sometime I am going to have to show you a picture of the little girl I babysit - Meghan looks like her!

Update:
I am now the big 3-0 and DH is 29

Our Christmas was fun, with Holden being excited about presents this year. We set up a little train set under the tree but he took one little look at it and moved right on to all the wrapped presents around it instead. And I had thought he'd be crazy about it. Oh well, plenty of time to get crazy about trains. :)

Hope everyone has a good new year!

October Princess....DH and I love the little dog backpack/harness. Milo will always try to take off from us when we are somewhere so it comes in handy and everyone always has something nice to say about it!:)

Everyone who got Santa pics....Im so jealous!!! Milo was terrified of Santa this year!! I kind of had a feeling when my mom got him Santa slippers at the beginning of Dec and he hated them.

Be back later with pics.

congrats amc

luckiestgirl lucky you! you got an awesome camera. i love "the look".

genndan i love those clips, i'm off to order some.

celia milo's gonna love that wagon.

not much going on here. we had a good christmas. noa hated santa as well, i eventually sat with her to get a decent picture. she got way too much stuff, we just set up her playroom and it's already full -- no more toys until her birthday and that's going to be outdoor stuff only! she just loved her kitchen, she ran right up to it and started washing her hands in the sink :p

where did you guys get the animal harnesses? i have a wrist one that i don't really like.

jki

I hope everyone had a wonderful time celebrating the New Year! We spent it at my parents eating way too much food!

Luckiestgirl Leah is so cute, I love the video clips...thanks for sharing.

Slvr quite the little prince you have, those curls are precious!

Celia, Milo looks like he really enjoyed his Christmas, I love the serious face he has in the last picture. Tyler makes a face similar to that in so many pictures..LOL.

Dana I got Tyler's puppy harness at Walmart as well. Tyler also loved his kitchen, we set it up so that it was waiting right next to the tree when he came down Christmas morning, he ended eating breakfast at the counter of the play kitchen.:)

Surprisingly Tyler's favorite gift was a stocking stuffer, washable crayons! He loves to draw and use the many different colors, he insists on only taking one color out at a time and will tell me back when he's ready for the next color by saying "back". If he sees the crayons and we are not prepared to sit with him while he draws he will throw a tantrum so we try to keep them hidden until we are prepared to watch him draw.

I have a question, epsecially for RO's. We are currently looking into a 2nd vehicle, this time we are taking into consideration the fact that we will likely be a family of 5 and would like extra room for an additional 1-2 passengers. I tryed looking at minivans yesterday but I'm just not "feeling" them. We also looked at a Ford Freestyle, Honda Pilot, and the new 2006 Ford Explorer. Any recommendations? I would like the 3rd row to fold flat when not in use, a very roomy second row that would possibley fit 3 car/booster seats, and a smooth ride.

Slvr ohmygosh his curls are PRECIOUS!!

October We LOVE our honda pilot. definitely getting another one when the lease is up. After that we will probably have to go the minivan route. 2nd row is so roomy, only short people can sit in the 3rd row comfortably. we always keep the third row folded down though to have more cargo room

Luckiest great pics as always of your happy kids!

Dylan has been sick for over a week now :( he is never sick so I am not used to this. nasty cough and cold. I am taking him to the doctor today just to get his ears and chest checked. he has slept through the whole time, such a good boy, but last night he was up several times and could not sleep until I gave him tylenol so I am worried something may have developed in his ears from all the congestion. I can not believe how well he slept up until last night though. we have been running his humidifier and using sudacare vapor plugs and those things did the trick!

I was going to get rid of it because it just takes up space that I think could be better served by other things but then he entertained us with it one night, putting it on and walking around and falling down with it on and it was hillarious.

TISH---- I got the christmas outfit at Dillards. I fell in love with it and was so disappointed when it was so HOT on christmas and Milo didnt really get to wear the entire thing for that long. We took pics while we were inside but the minute we got to my grandpas we took the sweater and hat off. I am in houston and last year it "snowed" and this year it was HOT! Sal: How is Dylan feeling? Alexander had a terrible ear and sinus infection about two months ago. It lasted about 2 weeks. He was miserable. Aren't those vapor plugs great? We used them for Alexander, too, and it really helped.

Titia: Don't worry, we have photos of Alexander with wine and beer. :p I love the doggie Halloween costume.

mrs_barkley: Awwww......that "sisters" photo is so good! I love that they are smiling at each other.

luckiestgirl: I will most certainly keep your daughter in my prayers. I am glad that you have a doctor that you are confortable with and confident in.....that helps so much.

I didn't take any photos of Alexander on Christmas Eve in his outfit. By the time we arrived at my in-laws and started to open gifts (there were 18 people there!) it was late so we changed him into pajamas. But I can't resist posting this one of him in it a few nights before. I loved this outfit:

We had a nice Christmas at home this year. I really thought it would be more exciting now that Gabby is older, but she didn't have much interest in presents. Her favorite "toys" were a package of hairclips. She had more toys than you could imagine under the tree, but all she wanted to do was play with the hairclips... Go figure.

Amber Those cards are BEAUTIFUL!!

Lildan such great pics! I think Alexander looks just like you when you have your faces close together in a picture. He looks like such a little man in that vest with his little feet crossed. so cute!

luckiest sending lots of thoughts and prayers to your family!

Mrs. Barkley oh my that picture of the two of them is so precious. makes me so excited for when I will have two!

Dylan is FINALLY just about better. this cold lasted over 10 days. insane. at least his ears and chest stayed clear. He started his speech therapy and they basically just come to the house and play with him so he does not even know anything is happening. He is just thrilled that they bring toys :D Getting harder and harder to carry him around. He was 25.4 pounds last week at his 18 month well baby visit and I think 32 inches which puts him in the 50th percentile for both. He has been so cuddly while he was sick so that has just been heaven for him to scoot into my lap and put his head on my shoulder. I never want it to end! You moms of active toddlers know what I mean - those moments are rare these days!

oh I'll add some pics...Dylan in his PBK chair that he LOVES, playing with his kitchen and the lil man dressed up for the holidays:

What cute baby pictures! I have to get some of Tyler's uploaded though I didn't get much from Chirstmas since my $@!* camera is so slow and Tyler is sooo hard to keep still for a second!:(

Sal, isn't Dylan quite the little man. Tyler has the My First Anywhere Chair from PBK's and loves it! They are great little chairs, I would have picked up the bigger chair but I didn't really want it to take up anymore space than it had too.

Amber it's nice to hear from you. As always, your card is gorgeous! Gabby is such a pretty girl! Tyler wasn't crazy about opening presents this year either, I was dissappointed because he had so many and I really thought he would enjoy it this year, his 2 year old cousin was more than happy to "help" open his gifts though.

Danielle, Alexander is adorable, I must know where you got that 1st outfit...it's TDF cute! Has he been using the jeep? Tyler got a quad for his first birthday that he loves to ride but he crashes into everything so you have to run along side him correcting his steering every minute!

Luckiestgirl I will keep your 5 year old daughter in my prayers.

Mrs. Barkely I love that picture of your 2 girls, how precious....I have baby envy!

Titia can't see you entire post and I don't remember is there was anything specific I wanted to reply to but I had to add that Holden is such a gorgeous little guy! I absolutely love the doggie costume, and his little coat. The family pic of you guys with the Chirstmas trees came out great!

Thanks for all your feeback on the cars, our top contenders are the Honda Pilot and Acura MDX, the Acura is more than we want to spend but we would like to have both a navigations system and a DVD...you can only choose one with the pilot while the MDX allows you both options...

What are you using for toy storage for all these toys? I was considering something I saw at target for $69 bucks but would like to look around more. I have decided a toy chest is just impractical, I remember when my niece had one and she wanted to get something out she would make a big mess taking everything out to get that one toy at the bottom.

Tyler is napping so I have to get some things done, take care!

I have a question for you SAHMs...who gets up with DC on the weekends? I always do and never ever get to sleep in. Usually I don't mind but today for some reason it is really p*ssing me off that DH did not get up with DS considering he is going to be gone almost all day at the Giants game and I was so tired this morning I would have loved to lay in bed a little longer. I feel guilty complaining because DH does SO much other stuff around the house but I am just curious about this

Danielle -
What a handsome little man you have. You know I am going to be different and say that Alexander is a perfect mix of the 2 of you. I used to think he looked just like Del but now I see both of you - you in his upper face and Del in the lower part. :)

Oh and I 2nd Melissa and have to know where you got that outfit!

Amber -
You always have the cutest mommy & baby pics. So cool that you included your furkids in your card. I have been bad about that and didn't try to take a pic of all ours together for a card either last year or this year. :o

Sal -
I love the matching shirt and socks. I am a sucker for things like that. But I do have to say that the suit is even cuter. He looks like a little GQ baby, esp with that pose - so cute!

Oh and when DH is not working weekends, he gets up with Holden, always has. And he does a lot around the house too so IMO your hubby is not exempt! ;)

Airforcelove -
Welcome! I took a peek at your journal and see that you are in W. MI too so hi from Muskegon!

Melissa -
Thank you, I loved the doggie costume too. I could have gotten one that kind of resembled a Rottweiler which would have been really cute for pics of him and Lacey but I just fell in love with that one.

Good luck on your car search. IKWYM about the minivan. I have been driving one for years and look back and go what was I thinking.

For storage, we just got this (http://www.littlecolorado.com/stock69.html) Little Colorado storage unit. I found the natural finished one for $125 total from willygoat.com
I can't say anything more about it right now bc it is still in the box but I have big hopes for it. ;)

------------------

My baby boy has been quite cranky lately! I have been thinking his eye teeth look like they are trying to come in and today I am almost certain they are so I am hoping that is all his isssue is and he will be back to my good natured happy boy very soon!

We actually went out last night w/o Holden which is the first time in many many months! I had been thinking I would just as soon take him with us (dinner with friends) but once we were out and enjoying ourselves I have to say that it was nice. (Though I feel kind of bad saying that) I think I am going to tell DH that he needs to take me out at least 1x a month. We have not been on a "date" in I think over a year!

Steve's Sweety Hi! Yea you are about an hour from I think! What about this weather we are having! Untill this weekend we were having almost 40 degree weather here in Battle Creek. Most people would say 40 is cold but I can't believe all the snow that we have gotten here already. When our oldest got his eye teeth in it was awful! He would wake up crying in the middle of the night, he wouldn't eat, and he had runny BMs. Thank goodness he only needs 4 more teeth! Your DS is very cute!

Amber: So good to see you here! As always, your photos are beautiful!

Sal: It's funny....when Alexander is with me, he looks like me. We he is with Del, he looks like Del. He is the perfect combo-baby. Although, when he is with me and people say he looks like me, I am so proud. :) I love Dylan's suit! So cute. And, to answer your question about 90% of the time, Del gets up with Alexander on thew weekends. He's always been good about doing that, thankfully.

Noni: In my baby photos he especially looks like me. I think it's because we have similar eyes.

OctoberPrincess: I bought that outfit at Macy's. I looked every where for something dressier, but that didn't have a turtleneck/sweater combo. Alexander gets warm easily so I was worried that with all the excited he would be baking. I finally found that outfit and fell in love with it. He has been using the Jeep with us pressing the pedals. He does not have the hang of that yet. I think he forgets that he needs to hold the pedal down. He will press it once and expect it to go. LOL.

AirForceLove: Welcome!! :)

Titia: I agree that Alexander is a good mix of the bth of us. He does seem to have my eyes and Del's lips/chin. The outfit is from Macy's. And, I hear ya on the crankiness. Alexander's eye teeth are coming in, too.

luckiestgirl: Unfortunately, I have no advice about sleeping. Luckily, Alexander has always been very good with going to sleep, so I never have had to look into anything. Some of my friends have used the methods they talk about in "Happiest Toddler On The Block" and they say that it works.

luckiestgirl We've been happy with the information given in Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child by Dr. Weissbluth. He does advocate CIO, but we've never *really* done that (except on the occasion that nothing else worked). He gives great info about sleep cycles, when to time naps, etc.

....the only thing that he doesn't come right out and say is what time to put your baby to sleep after the first year. What time do you put your kiddos to sleep? We usually do bath time from 7:00-7:30 (he loves his bath!) and then I nurse him for anywhere from 15-30 minutes. Some nights he'll play for only a few minutes and be asleep by 8:00pm, other nights he'll play for awhile and not go to sleep until 8:30pm. Lately he's been waking at 6:45am.

What time do you put your kiddos to sleep? we usually do bathtime around 6:45 and Dylan is in the crib at 7:15. He sleeps until 7 or later most days. Oh and he naps from about 1-4

Steve's Sweety I hear ya. We had our first date in a while on New Years and we went to a really nice place with two other couples and had the BEST time. Now I got my mom to babysit this saturday so we can go out again. I think DH and I really need nights like that and now we have to squeeze in as many as possible before the new baby comes! Bedtime Olivia hits the bath around 7:00 and is in bed by 7:45. She's an early riser though - usually between 6:00 and 7:00am.

As for naps, she went down to one nap per day right before Christmas but with the craziness of the holidays and a cold she developed, she's back to two naps a day. When she gets up at 6 there's just no way she can make it till 1:00 for her nap. Anyone else's kid still on 2 naps a day? I guess I just roll with it until she decides to switch back again.

We're due with Baby #2 sometime in the next 11 days!! So exciting but frightening too to think of how I'm going to make it with an under 2 toddler and a newborn.

Oh my I am soooo far behind, so I'll do my best to catch up. Josh and I are visiting my parents in Florida right now and having the best time. Josh has never been so busy. He's having a ball and best of all I get some breaks.

luckiestgirl I'll be keeping you and your 5 year dd in my thoughts and I hope this new Dr. has lots of answers for you. Sorry to hear you're having sleep issues with Leah, I wish I had some advice for you. My friend is going through the same thing with her son. Not fun

SalPaul and I split the weekends up, we decide Friday night who gets up Sat. or Sunday. I don't feel bad b/c I know he does alot around the house and works outside the home but so do I you know. Look at this way when your dd comes you'll be the one getting up all hours of the night feeding her so get some extra sleep now!!!

Adam's Pi Well back home Josh was in bed at 7, we start getting him ready around 6:45 or so depending on bath time-we do that every other night. He sleeps about 12 hours-now here in Florida he goes earlier b/c he's so tired from running around all day.

Well since Josh is napping I think I'll take one also-here's a quick pic. of Josh at Lion Country Safari.

Sleep...

Ruby is really good with her sleeping (KNOCK ON WOOD!).

She starts getting ready for bed around 8.15pm and is in her cot by 8.45pm usually. She is usually really ready for sleep by then and goes down without a fuss.

She is down to one nap a day now, usually 4 or so hours after she is up for the day I put her down, and she will sleep around 2 hours usually, although last week she threw in a couple nearly 3 hour naps which was quite nice. :)

She gets up around 8.30am on average. Jason does go in and give her a bottle around 6.00am most weekdays, she usually stirs, probably because he is up getting ready for work and is not exactly quiet! On the weekend the bottle is skipped unless she wakes up wanting it.

She is quite capable of sleeping through really, so we need to work on omitting the morning bottle more often. It is more me who we need to work on here I think!

We need to work on weaning the bottle fullstop, she is happy to have drinks in a sippy or straw cup so could easily have her milk that way, I am sure that's how they do it at daycare (she goes one day a week now).

Here is a recent picture.

Bedtime Maddie goes down around 7:30 pm and sleeps until 7:30 am. Jason is the SAHD at our house, but he still gets up with her on weekend mornings. He likes to get up at 6am to have some time to himself anyway, so he's already up when she gets up. I don't get to sleep past 8am though, she always comes running through the house shouting "Mama Mama", and comes in our bedroom to find me.

Bottles We've finally weaned Maddie, and it was super easy. I just gave her a sippy cup instead of her bottle when we got back from our Christmas vacation, and she never even missed it. I need to work on cutting out the milk before bedtime, but we're taking this one step at a time.

Is anyone starting to potty train their toddlers yet?

Hi everyone.... Hope babies and mommies are doing well

I think M is cutting some teeth right now too.. I guess that would explain the loose bowls and crankiness.

M goes to bed my 9 and sleeps till usually 7:30-8. I knows its kinda late but its the schedule that works. He has NEVER slept 12 hours consitently so putting him to bed any earlier would get me up wayyyyyy to early.

Jen I love the petting zoo pic. M was kissing out dog Mule today and mule was looking at him like "hello.... why are you touching me... get this kid off me.." :)

Well I know its been a while since I was here but DH and I are in counseling and working on saving our marriage. So we will see.

bedtime We put Milo to bed between 8 and 9. He always wakes up sometime before 7. Even if we put him to bed later than 9 he is still up before 7.

SAHM Milo is still being nursed once before bedtime and when he gets up in the morning. I think this is very convenient for DH to sleep in becuz he knows I have to be the one to get up and feed Milo. He will occasionally let me go back to sleep later. I do most of the work w/ Milo becuz he says thats the job i picked. Paybacks are a b**ch though....as soon as Milo completely weans he can be the one to get Milo and feed him while i sleep in an extra couple of minutes. ;)

On another note....I got a digital camera for christmas...any recommendations for places i can print my digital prints from???

Potty Training:
We have a potty but DS thinks it's a toy! We are FAR from potty training. When I ask DS if he went poo, the answer is ALWAYS no. I guess the first step is for them to realize that they are going. I also read that 2 years 9 mos. is the ideal age and that you will spend less time potty training so I'm not in any rush. I figure I will potty train Jackson and Cassidy at the same time.

Bedtime:
On weekends, DS goes to bed between 6:30 and 7. On weekdays, he goes to bed between 7:30 and 8. He usually wakes up around 6:30 or 7. I am so jealous of my friends' kids who sleep 'till 9!

SAHM:
DH gets up with the kids on weekends and any day he is off but he literally does like NOTHING else. He also gets up on Friday and Saturday nights if the kids need something. But beyond that, no cooking, no grocery shopping, no laundry, no cleaning, etc.

Bottles:
We are still on bottles. DS gets one every night. I'm a little scared to wean as DD gets bottles and it's such a comfort thing for DS.

Congrats NikkiD!!

Jen1098: Adorable pictures! Hope you are having a blast in FL!

crazycaro: Ruby is so cute. I don't think I've seen a picture of her in a while.

Wow, I haven't been in here in a while! Looks like we've all got a bunch of busy toddlers on our hands.

Things around here are going well. DH and I have been busy with work, the holidays and of course chasing a toddler. Sydney is a handful, but lots of fun. She had a wonderful Christmas and was spoiled rotten by the whole family. She's the only grandchild on both sides.

Bedtime Sydney generally goes down sometime around 7 each night. Moving her bedtime around does not make her wake up time any different. She wakes anywhere from 5:15 to 6:30. On weekdays if she's not up by 6:20, I have to wake her up. But that only happen very rarely.

DH on the weekend - I'm not a SAHM, but take on a good portion of the childcare and household tasks b/c DH works long hours and many weekends. On the occassion that he's home, he will sometimes get Syd in the morning, change her diaper and bring her to our room to hang out. She used to nurse first thing, but no longer wants to. Now she just plays in our room while we try to postpone getting out of bed. Usually, I end up playing on the floor with her while DH stays in bed. Then around 7:15-7:30, I take her downstairs for a snack while DH stays in bed. Eventually he'll come down and join us, but only after we bug him 5-6 times. I don't exactly like this arrangement, but can't manage to drag DH out of bed for anything. :P (On Christmas Eve Day, I was exhausted from all the pre-holiday stuff, working the entire week previous, etc. DH actually got Syd in the morning & took her downstairs to play. I got to "sleep" in until the 7:30! Can't even remember the last time I was in bed that late. When did 7:30 become late? )

Potty Training - Syd seems a little interested. For the past 2 months or so, she's wanted to sit on the toilet before her bath. Consistently she'd pee in the toilet before her bath. About 1-2 weeks ago, (after Christmas), she stopped being interested, but now she's really interested in changing her baby doll's diaper, sitting her on a toy potty, reading potty books, etc. She only gives correct answers to "did you poop" sometimes. Often she'll tell us she wants to potty, (with words or sign language), and we'll get her all undressed and on the potty and she'll pass gas. A few times she's asked to potty and she's peed in the toilet, but often I'm not fast enough and she pees on the floor or me. We not sure she's really ready, especially since she's not all that verbal yet and only sometimes asks to be changed after she poops. But I did order a potty today to have in the house for her to "explore".

Anyway, I better wrap this up. But first, I wanted to say that I love all the photos. I'll post a few of Syd to add to the mix in another post.

Wow what great pictures of the big kids! I swear they were all babies yesterday.

SAHM Well after the first year the Daddy sleeping pass expired in our house. I always got up for every night time wake up and got up every morning. Now during the week Clark gets up with Lewis because I go to the gym at 6am. on weekends we prearranged the days of who gets to sleep and who gets to get up otherwise no one gets to sleep in. If Baby ain't sleep ain't nobody sleeping in this house... I am all about fair.

Potty training.. Lewis knows when he is going potty and will ask me <with signs> to change him when he is done. We have potty seats in both bathrooms and if we are on ours he is on his pretending. We are letting him flush for us wave byebye to the toilet paper. So when he stands up he waves at his pretend potty too. Oh and we talk about when he using the potty he can start using toilet paper. Otherwise no playing with the toilet paper.

We are using date night tonight to completely pack for our trip to Brazil on Friday. Lewis and I will be down there for a month so I am trying to think of everything. I am so ready just to be gone. I am going to be having some plastic surgery down there and Lewis is going to have a Nanny so there are a lot of varietables to this trip that are nerve wracking but I am confident that it will all be fine.

I love the pictures of the new babies! We are not having anymore but when we come home we are going to be going to a few seminars about fostering. I really want to foster teenagers though since they have the least options generally.

Oh I forgot to ask the question I wanted to ask...

Anyones DC obsessed with anything yet??
First it was signing time videos if any TV was on in our in stores he would yell that signing time be on.. Now it is Hockey. Clark watches it while he folds laundry and Lewis is obsessed. He wants to watch it. He wantsto sleep with his hockey stick.. Anyone else dealing with this?

The Wiggles! Milo is obsessed with them. All he wants to do is watch them all day long. He knows alot of the dances they do so whenever he wants them he will start doing one of the movements from the songs. He has even been awake for only a few minutes and asked for them. I guess he dreams Wiggles also.

genn and luckiestthanks for the prayers :)

Weekends Dh always gets up on the weekends with M. I do all the house work and stuff (except the outside stuff) so I figure the least he can do is entertain M on the weekends. A while back DH was complaining because M was more attached to my dad than to Dh and I told him he had to get his eyes off the TV for 5 minutes and pay attention to M and maybe they would get alone better.. Its amazing the change in M and Dh's relationship since I said something. He has become quiet a little daddy's boy since DH realized that he had to interact with M. I think DH was leaning towards his dad's way of child-raising (I pay for them, you raise them) :)

pottty I keep forgetting to buy a potty but M goes into the bathroom every morning and says teetee and now I have a dirty butt to change :)

Hapa that's exactly what happened to me! Jack is such a doll, love the shirt in the Santa pic!

Slvr so glad to hear you guys are trying to work it out, good luck!

Titia thanks for the link to that storage unit, looks like it could be good...I would love to know how you feel about it once you have used it.

Lildan I have got to get my butt over to Macy's, I always skip it when I go to the mall because I find they have such a limited toddler selection. I'm sure Alexander will get the hang of the pedal quickly, Tyler's quad has a botton on the handlebar that he has to press with his thumb so it was a little easier but the jeep is sure to last Alexander longer....Tyler will need a bigger battery powered vehicle when he's about 2.5 or 3.

Adam's Pie Tyler goes to bed at 7pm and usually remains asleep til about 7:15 -7:30am.

Luckies I have had luck with Dr. Weissbluff's book as well, my friend told me about it and it worked wonders for both our children.

Lisariv those christmas cookie pictures are so sweet, what a cutie you have!

Weekends DH always wakes up with Tyler on his days off, I love sleeping in on those days. I wouldn't mind waking up one of the days so he can sleep late to but he insists on getting his alone time with Tyler so who am I to argue.:p

Potty we purchased a potty 2 weeks ago because Tyler was following everyone into the potty and pointing while saying pee pee or poopy. He loves sitting on it so I read him books while he sits (clothed) on it, I also let him sit on it right before he goes in the tub and he has peed once in it. I'm not rushing it though....I would rather have him in diapers when we go on vacation in April.

We just got Tyler a Kettrike Happy Navigator, anyone have experience with this? We don't plan to give it to him til his second birthday but I think the Easter Bunny may have his own ideas..LOL. We found it at a great price on the Right Start website, with free shipping, so we decided to get it early.

We are currently trying to wean Tyler from the dreaded paci, he has been getting it for sleep, car rides, and shopping. I have stopped giving it to him during car rides, and am working on the shopping....I feel so bad when he starts asking for his "paci". I'm so sorry I waited this long to do it but it seems so comforting to him that I didn't have the heart to take it away, it's so sweet the way he immediatly starts playing with his hair and humming when he starts sucking the paci. I don't want a 2 year old with a paci but I feel so bad to take away such a great comfort, KWIM?

Jackson's 18 month stats:
31 lbs., 6 oz.
35 inches

Jackson has RSV and I am LIVID at the person's mother who gave it to him. :( Who the world brings their child with a highly contagious virus (that has a vaccine) to a place with lots of kids? Cassidy hasn't come down with it yet and it is often deadly for babies under 6 mos.

Potty: We just got one and a couple potty books but I am not pushing it AT ALL. I guess the first step is to recognize that you have poop in your diaper and Jackson has NO CLUE. Poop in his diaper does not bother him AT ALL. We have this one:
http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B000BGJSE2.01._SCMZZZZZZZ_.jpg
I do not recommend it. It's incredibly annoying though Jackson loves it.

Obsessions: None yet.

Hapa: Love the pics. Jack is adorable. Has his hair gotten lighter?

Noniitis: Have a fabulous time in Brazil!

OctoberPrincess: Paci weaning is so so so hard. Jackson is a major addict.... I'm not even going to bother trying to take it away until he can understand the concept of a paci fairy or just that big boys don't use pacis. We only give it to him in his crib but I agree that I hate the look of a 2 year old with a paci.

QOTD: Has anyone started looking into preschools yet? If so, what are you looking for? What is it like in your area of the country? It's ridiculous here - Jackson has been on numerous waitlists since November 2004 and he may not even get into a preschool this fall. Preschools are also ridiculously expensive here - $7-9K/year for 10-15 hours per week. I am under the impression that in other areas of the country you just SIGN UP for preschool when the time comes and that's the end of it. I'm also under the impression that most preschools do not cost more than Stanford's tuition on an hourly basis!! DH disagrees so I'd love to hear from everyone!!

Hapa that first one is cracking me up. so do you actually look pregnant yet? :D

October too funny how all our kids are getting the same stuff. Dylan just got that for Hanukkah but we figure we'll set it up in the spring and see how he does

Preschool we found dylan's preschool. so weird to be thinking about this already. from september to june I am going to a class with him once a week that is kind of like a pre-pre school to get him used to the structure of a classroom and to ease into the whole idea (for me AND him!). Then in November they start easing the moms into the other room where the kids can still see. Then by January or February he goes by himself. The following September I am going to send him two or three mornings a week when he is 3. He is still not talking at all and I just don't think he will be ready for real pre-school in Sept. Just so you have an idea, two mornings a week is $2380 and three mornings is $2995. I loved the outdoor play area and they also have a huge room inside filled with kitchens and cars and lego tables etc for when it is too cold to be outside. They have a big room for music and also a computer lab  I liked that all the rooms were really bright and that it is only about 10 minutes from my house. Plus we had heard great things. hope that helps!

Noni hope everything goes well on the trip!

Slvr Hope things are getting better every day for you and DH. Sorry you are going through a rough time

Today it is actually 55 degrees. whohoo! definitely going outside to play :D

Only have a minute but wanted to post this for jki

Here in South Florida I used to work at a center that has a pre school and mommy and me classes. I have their price list in front of me.

For the 2 and 3 year olds
3 days a week-half day is $5950 a year
4 days a week-half day is 6650

plus a matriculation fee of $400 and supply fee of $125

At this particular school there is a wait list. Here's their website www.nova.edu/msi

I miss working there just so I could send Josh and get 50% off. Oh well.

It's crazy what they charge-oh well parents pay it so they can get away with it.

Look at all of these very cute TODDLERS!! Can you beleive this is the year our "babies" turn two? How quickly the time passes!

Potty Training: Alexander tells us when he has pooped or peed about 80% of the time. He likes to flush our toilet and will sit on his potty as well as play with it, but he hasn't pooed/peed on it as of yet. I'm not sure if he's made the connection between what's in his diaper and sitting on the potty.

Bottles: We've been done with them since about 17 months. His ped said to be totally finished with them by 18 months so one day we just went cold turkey. Alexander didn't seem to mind at all. He likes the sippy cups.

Obsessions: Baby Einstein videos. He's only allowed to watch two a day - - - one in the morning and one when I start dinner. But he will bang on the TV until I give him the DVD box to look at. LOL. He also loves the book "Blue Hat, Green Hat" by Sandra Boynton. He could read it all day.

Pre-School: Alexander will attend St. Margaret's Catholic School starting in September 2007. They have a 3 Year Old Program that is 2 days a week for 2 1/2 hours each day and a 4 Year Old Program that is 3 days a week for 2 1/2 hours. Then he would move into Kindergarten which is 5 days a week for 2 1/2 hours. We also have a choice of an AM or PM program so that is nice. Then with first grade he would start a regular full-time day. And, he will stay in that school until high school...........when he will more than likely attend the Catholic/Private School my brother attended, Calvert Hall. That school has been in Baltimore since 1845. (Crazy to have all of this planned out already, huh?)

As for tuition for parishoners (that would be us):

3 Year Old Program - $1,264/year
4 Year Old Program - $1,864/year
Kindergarten - 8th Grade - $4,000/year

Non-parishoners pay $6,600/year and are not eligible for the pre-K Programs.

I know some people are wary of Catholic/church-based schools (some are not so good), but St. Margaret's is highly competitive in the county/state and I like the idea of Alexander receiving his religious education at school as well as at home. I have so many wonderful memories of my Catholic elementary school (first Holy Communion, May Procession, Stations of the Cross, Christma Plays) and have friends that have been my friends since the first grade.

I am not to sure about public schools and what they offer (I went to a catholic elementary/middle school, high school, and college), but here's the link to St. Margaret's if any of you are interested : St. Margaret's School (http://www.smsch.org/index.html)

And, the one for high school: Calvert Hall (http://www.calverthall.com/)

We're planning on putting our guys in the preschool run by the local university's education department (http://www.outreach.olemiss.edu/willieprice/), but they can't go until September 2007.

Fees:
Full Day/Non-University: $3500.00 yearly
Half Day/Non-University: $2700.00 yearly

(non-University meaning for children whose parents are not University faculty, staff, or students)

i haven't posted here in a while. so much to catch up on:

potty training i'm gonna get a couple of potties on our next trip to bru just to have around the house. noa has absolutely no interest at all in the toilet, can't tell me she's gone poo, etc. so it will be a while for sure.

preschool no freaking clue. i'm really feeling like a slacker on this one. there's a preschool that i really like, but i was having a hard time scheduling a tour b/c i can't take noa (really need to find a pt babysitter). anyways, from what i see it's not naeyc accredited (yet) and we need to have a school that is. plus, she should probably go to a preschool that's part of an elementary school so she'd already be 'in'.

obsessions COOKIES!! god, i regret the day i ever gave this kid a cookie, all day long it's a battle over the freaking cookies. i sit her down for every meal and all she wants is cookies. so far i've been able to convince her that cheese crackers, tings, snapea crisps, etc. are cookies, lets hope that lasts a while at least.

hapa wow, jack looks so much older, check out his blonde hair. thanks for the book rec, i added it to my amazon list.

for those of you giving your kids vitamins, what are you giving them at this point? our ped doesn't really push vitamins, but i think i want to start giving her some since she skips so many meals.

anyone else done any binky weaning yet? that's my next project, although if it ends up being too hard, i'll wait. i'm not willing to lose any sleep over it ;)

noa currently has pneumonia. she had a cold right after christmas, basically just a runny nose, no fever, no cough. it seemed to have gone away, but last sat morning she woke up with a fever and a horrible cough completely out of the blue. we were taking her to the ped anyways to have her tb test read and they checked her lungs and said it was pneumonia. anyways, i'm taking her back in the morning, she's been on antibiotics for almost a week now and she's seems to be feeling worse. she's really, really cranky and sensitive and i just want them to check her again, although it may have to do with all 4 of her eye teeth coming in at once, poor thing :(

luckiestgirl Yay for Megan!

dana We don't give Colin vitamins. Our ped said it wasn't necessary at this point. I hope Noa feels better!

lildan I had a good Catholic school experience too. I'm glad that you were able to find a good program. IMO, if religion is important to you and you want it to be important to your kids, too, it's great that it can be reinforced at school.

jki Wow, I'm sure you are livid that Jackson contracted RSV. I don't blame you at all. I hope he's doing better and Cassidy is ok.

-----------------

potty training We have a potty for Colin, but he'd rather put his shoes in it, most days. He does ask to sit on it sometimes when we're changing his diaper. He also sits on it clothed. We have a few books to read to him too, which he really enjoys. He is very interested in what we're doing in the bathroom, and does tell us when he's going #2. We're not pushing him because we'll be moving soon, and it's been suggested that you wait until after big changes like that.

preschool Uhhhh...no, we'll look into that after we move.

news from us Add us to the RO list! Baby #2 is due 9/23/06. Colin is going to be a big brother!

Whew, let me see if I can catch up.

Potty training -
We just bought a potty a few days ago and have not set it up yet. Holden has been telling us for several weeks now when he has to poop and one day while he was running around nekkid he came in the bathroom right before he had to pee and peed on the bathroom floor - 2 diff times within ten mins.

School -
Haven't looked into it at all yet. It's not hard to get into preschools around here but they are pretty average. I guess I had been thinking we'd put him in Montessori or maybe just homeschool but I don't think I have what it takes to homeschool and I don't think we can afford Montessori so I guess I'd better start doing some looking.

Binky etc weaning -
Holden has been on nothing but a sippy since he was 11 months, and I think he was 14 months when I took his binky away for good. I didn't really want him to have it past 15 months or so anyway and I saw he was starting to get a little too attached so I figured it was better to cut the strings right then. I was strict with it to begin with so it wasn't that big of a deal to him, neither was the sippy.

Obsessions -
No obessions here (he is not allowed to have sweets or watch tv - despite this he recognizes and loves Elmo) but he is awfully attached to his "mimi" (milk - actually rice milk in his case). He asks for it all the time and I don't really understand since I am strict with that also - he only gets up to 20 oz a day, always has to sit at the table with it (or on our lap), etc, so I woudln't think he would think about it so much but I hear it all day long.

Vitamins -
We have been giving "Little Angels" liquid vites since he was probably 9 months. He was never good about eating veggies so I always felt he needed them and at least at his last 2 appts if not more his Dr. has asked what kind he was on and wanted to make sure he approved of them so I guess he thinks he should be on them too.

Heather (Slvr) -
I am sorry you are having marriage problems. I think it's great that you're both willing to work on it and are doing so and I hope you can get it all worked out.

Congrats on #2 Karen!

Kelli - Glad to hear that Meagan did well on her testing - tell her I said way to be a big girl!

Ok that's all I can think of w/o going back and looking which I'm too lazy to do. :p

---------

We are doing pretty well here.
It seems like Holden has one cold after another and every time he gets one he has a day where we have to use his inhaler. :( I am afraid he is going to end up having asthma but I hope it's just something he outgrows. Right now he has a nasty nose and cough hanging on but his spirits are better. I can see that his top eye teeth are swollen but apparently they aren't bothering him like they were.
Other than that he is great and growing and surprising us all the time, still prefers Daddy over Mommy mostly, and loves his doggies. :)

Hope everyone has a great week!

Hey guys- I am not really on here anymore but I wanted to come back for a visit:o

Preschool- nope, we aren't doing preschool.

Potty- no interest and we are not forcing the issue. I figure I will be changing diapers anyway so whats the hurry.

Obsessions- H is obsessed with stuffed animals and Elmo and 'baby ahhhhhhhh" which is what he calls baby einstein though he only watches it about twice a week. He is also obsessed with fruit, clementines and apples in particular.

Vitamins- I asked the ped and she said it was totally unecessary for him to have vitamins and wouldn't recommend it. So he has never ever had a vitamin. He does have a flouride supplement in his milk every day though since we have no flouride in our water supply.

I stopped puking around 20 weeks (now 28) so that is going much better. We will be scheduling my CS at my next MW appointment.

Aren't there a couple of ROs due in January? I will have to go check the first page...

PS if any of you are on LJ my username is the same :)

well it looks like i can finally be added to the list of ro's, noa will hopefully be a big sister, due date for #2 is 9.23.06 (same day as adam's pi, congrats!). i'm itching to get my betas done, but i have different insurance this time around and have to wait for my referral

so for the other ro's who's kids will still attend preschool in the fall. how is that working out, are you going with them and leaving the baby with someone or do they go by themselves? i needed to get our app in by feb at the latest, but their 2 yo program is for mommy and me and i won't be able to do that with a newborn. maybe noa will just go to preschool at 3.

jakedog glad to see you're back, hope you'll stick around :)

vitamins yeah our ped doesn't recommend them either. i'll think i'll just skip them for now, i was just freaked out b/c she's been sick and not eating, but her appetitite seems to be back.

steve's sweety noa is hooked on daddy, too. it's so hard putting her to bed if he's even home, she just screams for him.

Congrats to dana b and Adam's Pi!

dana b: Congrats on the baby! So exciting! We have a regular babysitter who comes on Wednesdays and Fridays. She takes Jackson to Gymnastics on Wednesdays and I will take him to mommy and me preschool on Fridays. I take both kids to music on Mondays and it is pretty challenging to manage both kids.

At our mommy and me preschool, you are allowed to bring an infant to class as long as they stay in the car seat. Cassidy is generally not a happy camper in her car seat, so I knew that would not be an option for me!

Adam's Pi Congrats - happy and healthy 9 months to you!! :)

Dana B YAY! SO happy for you! How is Noa feeling?

Preschool The class Dylan is taking from Sept to June is one morning a week. I go with him for the first half of the year and then he goes by himself. I got my mom to work from home one morning a week for the time i need to go with Dylan and she'll watch the new baby. After that, I will just have to hope it works out with the new baby's naps and such to drive him and pick him up for the second half.

Received this in an email......had to pass it along:

THE NEXT SURVIVOR SERIES

Six married men will be dropped on an island with one
car and 3 kids each for six weeks.

Each kid will play two sports and either take music or
dance classes.

There is no fast food.

Each man must take care of his 3 kids; keep his
assigned house clean, correct all homework, complete
science projects, cook, do laundry, and pay a list of
"pretend" bills with not enough money.

In addition, each man will have to budget in money for groceries each week.

Each man must remember the birthdays of all their
friends and relatives, and send cards out on time.

Each man must also take each child to a doctor's
appointment, a dentist appointment and ! a haircut
appointment . He must make one unscheduled and
inconvenient visit per child to the Urgent Care
(weekend, evening, on a holiday or right when they're
about to leave for vacation). He must also make
cookies or cupcakes for a social function.

Each man will be responsible for decorating his own
assigned house, planting flowers outside and keeping
it presentable at all times.

The men will only have access to television when the
kids are asleep and all chores are done.

There is only one TV between them, and a remote with
dead batteries.

Each father will be required to know all of the words
to every stupid song that comes on TV and the name of
each and every character on cartoons.

The men must shave their legs, wear makeup daily,
which they will apply to themselves either while
driving or making three lunches.

Each man will have to make an Indian hut model with
six toothpicks, a tortilla and one marker; and get a 4
year old to eat a serving of peas.

Each man must adorn himself with jewelry, wear
uncomfortable yet stylish shoes, keep their nails
polished and eyebrows groomed. The men must try to get
through each day without snot, spit-up or barf on
their clothing.

During one of the six weeks, the men will have to
endure severe abdominal cramps, back aches, and have
extreme, unexplained mood swings but never once
complain or slow down from other duties. They must try
to explain what a tampon is for when the 6-yr old boy
finds it in the purse.

They must attend weekly school meetings, church, and
find time at least once to spend the afternoon at the
park or a similar setting.

He will need to read a book and then pray with the
children each night without falling asleep, and then
feed them, dress them, brush their teeth and comb
their hair each morning by 7:00. They must leave the
home with no food on their face or clothes.

They must clean up after their sick children at 2:00
a.m. and then spend the remainder of the day tending
to that child and waiting on them hand and foot until
they are better.

They must have a loving, age appropriate reply to,
"You're not the boss of me".

A test will be given at the end of the six weeks, and
each father will be required to know all of the
following information: each child's birthday, height,
weight, shoe size, clothes size and doctor's name.
Also the child's weight at birth, length, time of
birth, and length of labor, each child's favorite
color, middle name, favorite snack, favorite song,
favorite drink, favorite toy, biggest fear and what
they want to be when they grow up.

The kids vote them off the island based on
performance.

The last man wins only if...he still has enough energy
to be intimate with his spouse at a moment's notice.

If the last man does win, he can play the game over
and over and over again for the next 18-25
years...eventually earning the right to be called
Mother!

Congratulations Dana B and Adam's Pie!!! I hope I can join you RO's soon, I'm very impatient and 4.5 months of trying feels like forever!

Preschool we just began looking into them. I may enroll Tyler in a 2 hour program one day a week, alone, starting in September. The only transition program by me is across the Island so I am contemplating and checking out other options. I love the idea of the trasition program though.

Vitamins Tyler is anemic so he has to take vitamins, he takes Polyvisol w/Iron...I hope to switch to 1/2 a Flinstone once he turns 2.

Congrats dana b & adam's pi get all the sleep you can now! here are some pics of my cuties which I will delete in a few days

potty training we bought a toilet and try toly bring it up but we are no where close

binky still have the binkys and I can't even imagine dealing with that right now. When she is old enough to understand, she is getting a visit from the binky fairy :D

vitamins i bought some drops at whole foods and give them to her occasionally, esp. on a week when she is eating like crap

preschool I would love to get her in a program right now but its crazy expensive around here. Hopefully we can find a one day a week program by summer and then something more later on

octoberprincess omg :( i'm so sorry about your cousin.

amc so cute!

i don't know what's going on over here. noa has just been awful! she cries and whines all day long, throws the biggest tantrums and has now decided to not sleep in her crib at night or if dh is home  she has a major attachment to him right now, so i started putting her to bed before he comes home and she starts kicking and screaming when i put her in the crib. this doesn't make any sense, she had no problems going to bed at all until now. she's over the pneumonia, so i don't think that's it, she still has her eye teeth coming in, so it's either that or she's really hitting the terrible 2's.

I know I've been MIA lately, I keep forgetting we have this thread! :o I was going to update that I had my 4th baby but I see it's already been updated! Your girls rock! :D When I have some downtime with DS I will have to go back and catch up on everyone. Just some quick S/O's..

crazycaro I noticed you congratulated me on another thread and wanted to say thanks! I'm so happy to hear that you feel this pregnancy is going better and that you won't have an early delivery this time. Ruby is too cute!

AMC congrats to you also on your new baby boy! We are definately in the same boat with a newborn and a toddler. I also have a 3 yr old on top of that so life is definately hectic here. I haven't had to have them all to myself yet but that time is coming soon and I don't know how I'm going to handle it! I guess we just need to get a routine down.

Bedtime this has definatley turned for the worse in the last three weeks. She was SO good at bedtime, we would just lay her down and she would go to sleep without making a sound. About three weeks ago she learned how to climb out of her crib so now we struggle with it every night. I bet she climbs out about 10-20 times before she finally gives up and falls asleep. I know this is a sign to probably convert her to a toddler bed but then I think she will be up even more because she can get out so much easier. I'll have to go back and read what everyone else wrote about bedtime to see if I can get any advice.

potty training haven't even started this yet. We just got our 3 yr old son pretty much potty trained. He still needs pull ups at night but I'll take that over him wearing them all day! I sure do hope it's true what they say about girls being easier to train than boys. She does seem interested in it but I'm not going to push it yet.

I will have to catch up and I will try and post more often.

Congrats to Adams Pi and Dana b on your pregnancies! Like AMC said, get as much sleep as you can now! :D

It is 4am & Leah woke up screaming "MOMMY" like a monster just got in her face & scared the living tar out of her. Nightmares??? Already?

it's interesting that you said this. I was going to post today and ask if anyone else has experienced this. My Jaiden is now 17 months old and we have had a similar experience a few times. She will start crying in her sleep. One of us will get up thinking it's her normal she wants some milk or just needs a back rub or to be held for a few minutes but when we pick her up she starts freaking out and really crying hard and screaming. Almost as if she is either in pain or having a nightmare. And it's clear that she is not fully awake. It happened again last night and lasted for about 20 minutes. After about 10 minutes my husband took her into the bathroom and ran some water to wash her face because by this time she was all snotty and teary. And she calmed down. well when he brought her back into our room she started freaking out again. Well we live in a house attached to neighbors on both sides. by this time it's 3:30 in the morning so I take her downstairs to living room where we endored 10 more minutes of this fit. I took her to the kitchen and gave her a cup of water and she calmed down like nothing had ever happend. What is this exactly? we have our 18 month check-up next month and I'm going to ask our doctor (if I don't call before them). but I was wondering if anyone had a similar experience? I thought maybe it was gas or perhaps her gums hurt because she has several teeth coming in at once. Sorry for the long post.

Melissa -
My thoughts are with your cousin and her baby.
I'm sure you remember that my niece was born with only half a heart as well.
I think the prognosis is really pretty good for babies who are born full term though.

Kelli -
I hope you get Leah's sleep issues resolved soon, that really doesn't sound like fun.

bklynhamptonian -
It sounds like your little one may be having night terrors if she is not waking up. I would def put a call in to the ped if it is more than an isolated occurence.

-----------

Once again, Holden is sick. He had a cold that never got better and he got another cold on top of it. Then yesterday he got a stomach bug but was acting ok, but today when he got up I could tell he was pretty sick - just lethargic.
Took him to the Dr. today and on top of the cold and stomach bug he has an ear infection. The Dr. wants to do some food allergy testing (via blood test) because he too thinks he has been sick too much this winter. In a way I want them to find something but in a way I don't, kwim? I just want him to quit getting sick so much! I mean, we don't allow him to eat junk food at all, he gets a good multi vitamin, he takes iron, and we are much better about washing his hands that most people I know with babies so I don't understand why he gets sick so much! My poor baby.
Anyway, other than that things are pretty good. He is starting to say 2 words together now, of course the first of those was "hi daddy". I'm glad he loves his daddy so much and all and that DH is so involved with him but GEE, carrying and birthing a baby really counts for nothing doesn't it?!? Mommy is chopped liver.:p

noa's been doing a lot of the weird sleep stuff, too. thankfully, she lets me put her in her crib at night again without flipping out, i guess that really did have to do with her being sick and teething. she also wakes up screaming and i can tell it's different b/c she just lays there, when normally she'll stand up and cry. in general she just wakes up crying more than ever before.

1st post in this thread!

congrats to the ROs and the new babies!! too much to catch up on to do individual SOs but on what I can remember:

potty training
deacon still announces when he poops and pees but we haven't started doing anything about it yet. when he's running around nekkid, getting ready for his bath, he almost always says "pee pee?" then he will pull his little stool over to the toilet, climb up and watch/wait for something to come out and when nothing does, he leans over and spits into the bowl. gotta have something to flush and wave bye bye to.

preschool
we started last week! it's only a morning program but it's been nice having part of my day free and he absolutely loves it. when I drop him off, he goes running for his classroom and barely will wave bye bye to me and only after prompted a couple times.

nightmares, etc.
for the last month and a 1/2 or so, deacon has been waking up for the day around 4:45 - 5:30 am SCREAMING "mama! mama!" :( it's v. stressful, to say the least, to be woken up that way. the early hour sucks too. not my favorite way to start the day... not sure what to do about this or why it's happening. anyone else experiencing something similar? it doesn't sound like the night terrors just discussed, since it's 1st thing in the morning and he's definitely awake/aware. my nerves are shot every morning. :(

Night terrors suck. I didn't think there was anything you could do for them, though, except to try to keep the kiddo from hurting himself while having one (you shouldn't try to wake a kid in the midst of a night terror).

The boys have decided to start in on the Terrible Twos, just in the past two days. It's so not fun. What happened to my cooperative sweet lovable boys?!?

Oct Princess I am very sorry about your cousin. It is so heart breaking to hear such sad news.

We are in Brazil and I was just looking at the floats yestersday for Lewis. They didn't have the baby ones just the kid one so he is using that.

AMC~ WOWZA is that new addition beautiful!! What a joy!

I love seeing these new babies and the RO reports!

Brazil is so beautiful. It is summer here and I am loving it. My surgeries <think Extreme Makeover> went AWSOME and my recovery has been 10 times better then I expected. My DH left on Saturday after 2 weeks and we will return on the 10th of Feb. The nanny we have hired for Lewis is so great. She speaks both English and Portuguese and has really made our experience here better. We also have a night nurse incase Lewis wakes up in the middle of the night and I would not be able to lift him. I am shocked how well Lewis has taken to these new people in his life as a SAHM I worried about the transition but it really was nothing at all Lewis loves both of these girls.

I am not sure what to do about preschool. I think we will continue on our ECFE course where they start the 1/2 class together then the other 1/2 they go off with the teacher at 24 months old. I go back and forth about the idea that Lewis is going to be in school for such a long time that holding out for 3 or 4 even might be a good thing but I also see how much he loves to interact with other children... It is really hard know what is right.

Lewis has been good one the sick front. He had a stomache bug a couple days before we left the States.

October I hope your cousin and her family are doing okay. how incredibly sad :(

Paging JKI I need to talk about the zooper! I know you love yours. we are down to the maclaren twin techno or the 2006 zooper. we are also getting a graco tandem. I am so conflicted on the SBS. It also does not help that I have only seen the mac in person. no store around me carries a zooper so I would have to order it online without seeing it. I am leaning towards the zooper because of the one handle steering. but I am also conflicted because should I really be getting a 26 pound stroller? won't that be hard for taking on vacations? or is that not an issue because we would just check in on the plane and it is not like we would be carrying it around. also I should find out if the seat and overall width is the same when making my comparison. I guess I am just thinking outloud here and need someone to tell me which to get! people on the double stroller thread and on other sites seem to just rave about the zooper where the mac reviews are mixed.

jki
02-06-2006, 09:54 AM
Sal03:
UGH. I know - the double stroller issue is so hard. The Zooper is HUGE and heavy and it does NOT fold up compactly.... I've never seen the Maclaren folded up so I can't compare but the Zooper folded down takes up the entire floor space in my Escape. My issue with the Mac was that Jackson is WIDE and couldn't even sit back comfortably so it was totally out for us. I also don't know if the one handle steering is a good reason to pick the Zooper - I am pushing around 32 lbs. of Jackson and 16/17 lbs. of Cassidy - believe me, there is not much single handed pushing going on! ;) Only when I MUST drink coffee do I use single handed pushing - and afterwards, my wrist totally hurts!! BUT I do love it. It's a great stroller.... I think the kids are really comfortable in it, I love the quality and Zooper has great customer service. I would definitely recommend it. The problem is that there just isn't a double stroller with everything that everyone wants, YK?

Also, how is Dylan on walking? Jackson generally walks and Cassidy sits in a single stroller or the Bjorn. Also, if you get the Zooper, could you maybe skip the Graco tandem? I have a friend with a Graco and the Mac and her Graco got very limited use. You can put a Snugride into the Zooper and it works fine.

Sorry my thoughts are convoluted, I have Jackson cranking at me to get off the puter!

Hey guys!
I'm so glad this thread moves a little slower...seems I can barely keep up with our pregnancy one.

Well, we've got some 80 degree weather right now so we're heading off to the beach! Yahoo! Still house hunting...guessing we have about a 2 percent chance of being in a new place before baby 2 arrives. Oh well. Seeing lots of ugly expensive houses...hopefully something that doesn't make me want to gag will be listed soon!

Doing great otherwise. Jack's all better from his 2nd stomach flu episode of the season. Though he's getting his 2 year molars. Got the bottom 2 (which was awful) and will probably get the top too soon. He's totally amazing me though. I can't believe what sponges they are at this age. Just a couple weeks ago he started learning his colors and letters. It's crazy! Of course he makes up his own words for everything, but at least I know what he's saying. For "sister" he says "do-do." Charming huh?

sal
The stroller hunt is such a pain, no? I'm still not exactly sure what we're going to do. Hopefully this E3 works out. Do you have a sling? I have a bjorn, but I was thinking about getting some kind of sling too (one of those super clingy ones for the infant)...we'll see. I like the way the Maclaren steers...but I've heard some mixed things about it since they're now made in China. But overall I hear good things. Have you tried the strollerswap yahoo group? Maybe you could get a gently used one? Though the Zooper may be a better option yet.

jki
Thanks for the info on the Zooper...

sling
Anyone have any good sling recs? I'm thinking no rings, really snug for a newborn

Are you going to post some before and after pics? Hope you have a fun and relaxing ending to your trip. Glad everything went so well!

I really like the pretty girl pic. I've got to start taking some better pics with my camera. And maybe get a new lens. My autofocus skills aren't the best...so many times I end up with the wrong thing in focus.

He found this catalog in the recycling bin at my parent's house (yeah, Playboy started arrriving after my younger brother moved out the house...weird). Anyway, he took it out, sat on the couch and started "reading." We put it back in the bin and he went back to get it!

car/October Princess
I remember awhile back you were trying to decide on a new car...
In May we got the Acura MDX. I loved my 95 Jeep Grand Cherokee (first car I bought on my own) and didn't want to give it up, but DH convinced me it wasn't safe to take on long trips and could break down at any moment (or could run forever...you never know with Jeeps). Anyway, I didn't want to spend that much on a car since we're saving for a house, but whatever...I LOVE the MDX. It's soooo nice.
It's very quiet (I accidentally turned the ignition on again when it was already running...doh!) and rides great. Gas mileage isn't too bad either (about 17 MPG with mixed city and freeway...up to about 22 with just highway). And it's super spacious. Lots of room for the back seat and cargo area. We've used the 3rd row once...not the easiest thing (would recommend a minivan if you have to use that 3rd row all the time), but it works for the rare occasion you need to pile a bunch of people in.

Anyway, feel free to email me if you've got more questions.

HI everyone. I dunno if you remember me or not. But I was luvalwaysMandy on WC too.

Anyway I just did a search on RSV and this tread poped up. So I figured I would post. I'm going to try and do updates again. Keyword is try.

Just a few happeneing around my house since I last posted. We bought a house. I had another baby, a boy. Hunter Ross 10/17/05. (he's the one with the RSV...no fun) Paige is doing great and learning something new everyday. She's a great big sister, most of the time. haha.

Well I'll be back to post more after I read the thread and catch up.

Just one more quick post for tonight.

hapa I was just reading the rest of the thread and the pics you just posted poped up and Paige kept saying "Hunter" (the babies name) and I told her no..that's jack. So now every baby that shows up on the screen is "JACK!!!" haha:)

luckiestgirl I can't believe that Paige will be 2 soon. It's crazy! And very sad since we've decided to only have 2 kids (for now :)) I just don't want either of them to grow up. They need to stay little forever! I hope Hunter gets better soon too. I'm getting very little sleep and that makes a not so friendly mommy.

Mandy Welcome back! if you post all your stats we'll put you on the front page. Congrats on your baby boy! Hope he is better soon

Hapa I really hate the stroller search. I may go back one more time this weekend to test drive the maclaren again and collapse it and everything to see how it folds up. I am so torn! LOVE all the pics of Jack. The playboy one is priceless LMAO

Luckiest GORGEOUS pics of Leah!! the pen one is hysterical

jki thanks for all the tips. with the maclaren I can also hang bags on the handles and the zooper I can't. good to know it is still heavy to push one handed. I am going to look again this weekend. we are getting both the SBS and tandem as gifts so I figure the graco I will want the first few months then I will sell it on ebay or something :D

What are the other stroller review websites/message boards? I found a ton of reviews on the zooper but not on the twin techno

Jen1098 How are you doing? How was your move??

You've got a Triumph right now right? Doesn't it get all tippy when you hang stuff from the handles? The only thing that bugs me is how I have to take my diaper bag and other bags off first before taking Jack out or the whole thing falls over. I would guess that would be the case with the twin stroller as well you think?

It does fold up fairly small...kind of just like 2 of Techno strollers side by side. For more reviews have you checked out the Baby Bargains bulletin board? Also do a search for "strollerswap" in the yahoo groups...you can ask any question about the Mac stroller vs Zooper in there and a few people will answer you back. Either way, I don't think you could go too wrong...both sound like pretty good strollers...though not perferct...we'll have to invent that one some day. :)

OMG. That is the exact same thing Jackson calls himself!!!! When I say "can you say Jackson?" He will reply "GeeGee." When I say "where's Jackson?" He will point to himself with both hands and say "GeeGee", like he is correcting me. It's not like Jack/Jackson are hard to pronounce... all the kids in our playgroup can say his name as something closer than GeeGee! ;)

octoberprincess so sorry about your cousin.. I can't help but get very weepy about stories like that since I've had deacon... my thoughts are with your family.

camera talk--we just got a new nikon coolpix but I have no idea how to use it. hoping to join you guys in the tech talk if I can ever get thru this bible of an instruction manual.

hapa I thought the stroller talk would bring you out of the woodwork! ;) so great to see pix of you guys in my old 'hood! getting homesick...but we'll be back in may. just in time to take jack for a playdate and off your hands for some quality momma-new baby time. :)

I'm impressed jack knows letters and colors already! none of that here but deacon can count to one now. :) no, actually now that I think of it, he's been counting to "oo" for the last couple weeks... and the other day he counted some cheerios out of his bowl onto the high chair tray "one, oo, tres!"

brown spots/teeth I just took deacon to the dentist for his 1st checkup last week. he screamed bloody murder the whole time until the cat outside the window started meowing. then it was like someone hit the off switch and he kept asking "kee? kee?" :) anyways, he has a little bit of brown staining at the bottom of some of his teeth (all that coffee and red wine, I guess) but the dentist said not to worry about it, it wasn't decay or anything and we didn't need to do anything about it since they were just baby teeth. that's not to say all brown spots are nothing to worry about but that's what it was in our case.

Has anyone else's little angel turned into the devil? Kaitlyn is so horrible right now I just don't know what to do with her. She has such a little attitude at such a young age I'm afraid to know what she's going to be like when she gets older. Right now she likes to hit everyone and basically just grunts at you when you even try to talk to her. I don't mean scold her but just trying to play with her. Bed time has been a nightmare too. She used to be so good about going to bed and now we struggle with her every night. We converted her crib to a toddler bed about 2-3 weeks ago because she constantly climbed out of it. Last night I bet she got out of bed around 30 times or so. She runs into her two older brothers room and sits on their bed. It doesn't matter what we do she just keeps doing it. We will both rock her for a while and the first few times we give her a chance to stay in but after that we've been swatting her on the butt and she still doesn't care. After an hour and a half she finally went down but then she was up at 3:00 am and doing it again! I don't know why she doesn't sleep! I also have a newborn to contend with so this has really been exhausting me. Anyone have any advice before I lose my sanity?

I've been so bad about keeping up with this thread. Between moving, unpacking and running after Josh it's been crazy.
We know all about temper tantrums in this house. Not fun. Luckily distraction still works for us but I know that won't last long.

Since we've been here his sleeping has gone to shit. He hates going in his crib, he tenses up and holds on for dear life. Sometimes he'll cry when we put him other times he doesn't. I can't even lay him down anymore, I have to leave him standing and he'll lay down himself.
He's woken up in the middle of the night crying. At first I thought it was his teeth but I think it's the whole change. His new bedroom is much bigger then his old one and it faces the parking lot so it's nosier. We're going to get a sound machine and see if that helps.

luckiestgirlSorry Leah is sick, I hope she feels better soon. As for his 2nd b-day gift I haven't even thought about it yet but we his friends are turning two soon so I'd love to hear everyone's ideas.

Sal Thanks for asking about our move. Still getting settled. I wish we weren't so far b/c I'd love to get Dylan and Josh together for a play date.

Nikki I certainly sympatize with you on the sleeping problems. Luckily Josh is still in his crib otherwise I'm sure he'd be doing the same as your DD. I hope it's gotten better for you.

HOpe everyone is doing great. We're going shopping today so we're going to test drive some double strollers. Oh my!

I hope everyone enjoyed Valentine's Day with their DH's! Josh and I went to Dinner in Manhatten and then to see Avenue Q, very funny!

Tyler is finally through being sick, after 2 weeks! I'm pretty much decided on his preschool, I'm going to make one last visit and then I think I will sign him up for September. We booked our vacation to Disney World in May, we will be staying at a Disney Resort so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it will be semi relaxing.

My cousin has decided to start ttc again in September, it's been very hard for her but she's had lots of support and she remains in good spirits, thanks for all the concern.

UGHH! Temper tantrums are running rampant in my house. Jaiden also has developed such an attitude. It's all about NO! and MINE! and STOP!! and she has even taken to using my scolding against me. We are teaching her "Not Nice" as in "Jaiden, it's not nice to throw your food". "Jaiden it's not nice to throw your sippy cup". 'Jaiden it's not nice to hit Mommy". "Jaiden it's not nice to tell Daddy no to a good night kiss". (That one actually makes me laugh. When it's bed time and I'm taken her upstairs I'll say "Give Daddy a good night kiss" and she will say "NO!"). Well little Ms. Smarty pants wanted me to pick her up while I was cooking dinner and I said "Mommy can't pick you up right now" and she goes "NOT NICE!" and proceeds to throw a major tantrum complete with screams, cries and throwing herself on the floor.

All I can do is pray for strength to get through this phase of toddler hood. Everything is a battle of wills now and she is very vocal about her likes and dislikes.

As for brushing her teeth. She either wants to do it herself which is really just sticking the toothbrush in her mouth and sucking off all of the tooth paste (the non-flouride baby kind, Orajel I think) or if I can manage to pry open her mouth after two swipes she has a fit. Drives me nuts because she is developing baby bad breath in the morning.

Other than that life is great! LOL!

Hi mamas!

Boy it has been quiet in here lately. Good thing though, since I haven't been by much it doesn't leave me much to catch up on. ;)

I sympathize with all of you who are going through battles with your little ones. Holden is just starting to develop an "attitude" and do a few of the things that are part of the joys of toddlerhood, like not listen, and turn his legs into jello when you are trying to get him to do something.

So we are finally going to go visit BIL & his family (which includes my nephew who is 17 days older than Holden) in San Francisco! We are leaving this coming Wed and will be back the following Tues.
I am nervous about how Holden will do on the plane since he still will not sleep snuggled up on us.
I am also a bit nervous about how he is going to be in relation to my nephew. SIL is very strict and to me they seem to expect Johnny to act older than his age.
We'll see what happens I guess. I am probably just paranoid.

So if anyone is around, tell me about Picture People. I have heard you can get good deals and want to get pics of the boys done while we are there since we don't have one around here. But I can't find any coupons or anything except for the one on their website which is not what I'm looking for.

And, if there is anyone around from San Fran, tell me what your kiddos are wearing right now?
In MI we are still in warm pants with sweaters and such, plus a snowsuit.
BIL says it never gets warm enough there to wear shorts, not even in the summer! But they made Johnny wear long sleeves and pants to MIL's wedding here in July (which averages around 75 or so) so I am not sure their idea about what to wear is the same as ours. :p

Steve's sweety what a happy little guy. I love his huge smiles :)

Jen Happy to hear you guys are settled in. Sorry about Josh's sleep troubles though. Hopefully he will get used to it soon. I know not at all what you need. you must be exhausted!! Hopefully once the babies come and we are going stir crazy out of our minds we can find a mall that is half way to meet at or something.

October We are just doing a small family thing for Dylan's bday. I think anything else will be too much considering we have a new baby coming soon. Next year though I may do a gym party. There are some fun places like tumble bugs or my gym or even this swingset store by us has a huge party room for kids and two big swingsets in there and all these toys and kitchens and ride on things for kids. That would be so much fun for next year!

Not a whole lot going on here. We are getting ready for baby girl's arrival in a few weeks. I went to the OB today and now am on weekly appointments. this time it went SO fast!!! Dylan is still not talking but he finally says Mama or Mommy and Dada regularly and he says mo mo mo for more. And he makes the B sound for bubbles or balls. so he is definitely making progress with his speech therapist. and he loves her and gets so excited when she comes so that makes me happy. he has NO clue the baby is coming. I may be naive but I just feel like he will be so good about it. he is so sweet and good natured, really does not have tantrums ever. So while there will obviously be a reaction, I am not anticipating anything too bad. Still have NO idea what side by side stroller to get. totally stuck btw the zooper and maclaran. one of these days I'll figure it out.

Hope everyone and their toddlers are doing well!

I am 15 miles north of SF - it's rainy and coooold. Low 60s is the high. Jackson usually wears cords, a t-shirt, a sweater and a waterproof fleece lined jacket. Hi everyone, no time for S/O's. I just wanted to let you know that DD broke her arm today at daycare. Guess how, by crawling out of the pack n play after her nap. I'm glad we took the railing off her crib. We see the orthopedic surgeon tomorrow so hopefully she won't have to have surgery and they will just put a cast on her. I can't believe out of my 3 boys and 1 girl that my DD was the first to break a bone, and at only 20 mos. Who knows what she has in store for me in the future! If you could send good thoughts my way that she won't have to have surgery that would be much appreciated. I will update after our appt tomorrow.

Has anyone started potty training yet? I had a breakthrough with Jaiden. She says "poop" and squats when she is ready to well poop. Before she was saying poop after she was done to let me know it was time for a pamper change. But lately I noticed that she was saying it before she was done so I started taking her to the bathroom and sitting her on the toilet to let her know you poop in the potty. Well the other day she said poop then took my hand and led me to the bathroom. I sat her on the toilet and she pooped!! I was so proud of her. It hasn't happened again since but looks like we are making progress.

Nikkid  That is like my biggest fear! I hate using the PnP when we travel b/c I'm positive DS is on the verge of being able to climb out. And we have a lot of traveling ahead of us this summer.... Does she need surgery? How is she doing?

Speaking of hospitals.... :( I brought Deacon to the ER to be checked out for weird breathing early Sat. morning and we wound up not leaving until about 3 days later. :( He was diagnosed with acute asthmatic bronchitis. The doctor said he has asthma and that it's for the rest of his life. I'm a little wary of her diagnosis for a few reasons so I'm going to get a 2nd and possibly 3rd opinion. Anyone else have a child with asthma? How do they usually diagnose it? Here he is in a rare moment of chillin':

http://im1.shutterfly.com/procserv/47b6dd23b3127cce97293bfb0cf600000016108Cat2zlmzbe
They gave him a teeny-tiny hospital gown and it was still too big. Hauling that IV post around after him was a big nightmare too.

luckiestgirl thanks for your offer of photo help. We have a Nikon Coolpix 7600 but the problem isn't so much figuring it out, it's wrestling my DH to the ground and beating the camera out of him that's the problem. Luckily I had some time to play around with it when he went out of town. Just in time for hospital pix!

Temper tantrums--Wow, I thought we were having problems with them before, but in the hospital, he was one PISSED OFF baby.... I swear he was throwing himself on the ground and screaming every 5 minutes. And I couldn't ignore him b/c he would kick at his IV line and/or get tangled up in it or try to rip it out of his hand. God, I'm so glad that's over with...

Steve's Sweety cute shots! We have the same hat in that last one. I so wish Deacon would keep them on his head. :(

bklynhamptonian we have sort of started discussing the potty but no real progress. He likes to sit on it or stand on his stool in front of it and go "sssssss!" (pretending he's peeing) and stares and waits for something to come out but of course nothing ever does. Still, he insists on flushing after, waving and yelling "bye bye!" to the water, I guess.

OK, off to bed!

deelcie My DS has asthma too. It was diagnosed after I brought him in wheezing. Our last incident was a hospital stay. If you're comfortable getting a second opinion, that's probably wise. For us it was pretty obvious, he had classic symptoms when he had wheezing episodes. They started him on maintenance medication--one nebulizer with Pulmicort (inhaled steroid) and a dose of Singulair every day. Knock on wood, we haven't had any trouble since. I hope you get the answers you're looking for. And oh yeah--isn't it fun to chase a toddler with an IV pole?!? Or try to untangle them?

This is not as bad as a broken arm but at the beginning of Feb Milo got nursemaids elbow which is basically a dislocated elbow. It was very scary since part of his arm was basically limp. The doctor had to pop it back into place and then Milo started using it again right away. Now we have to be really careful with him for the next couple of months becuz hes more likely to get it again since hes already had it.

About a week later he was back at the doctor for a possible egg allergy. Feb was a rough month for Milo.

Be back later with some pics. :D

Nikkid ~ Sorry to hear that Kaitlyn broke her arm. How scary! She does look cute with the bright pink cast. I hope she feels better soon.

Things are going well here. Kaeden has a few teeth coming in but thankfully it doesn't affect him too much. He's a little sleepier during the day but still sleeping well at night.

He's also going through a phase where he doesn't want to eat meat. He does love fruits and veggies though so we load him up on those.

I'm 26w today so we're getting closer to Mackenzie's arrival. I'm getting impatient but am feeling pretty good usually. I've started vomiting again - 2-3 times a week. I hate that part but if she's healthy I'll take it.

ETA: Threadmistress, please update my age to 25 and DH's age to 24. Thanks!

Awww...our poor sick and wounded babies! :(

Adam's Pi thanks for responding. Did they tell you your DS has asthma "for the rest of his life" (what the dr. told me)? I had always understood asthma was a chronic condition. Did they run any kind of tests on him? I read somewhere recently too that they don't usually diagnose asthma in kids under the age of 3 since their lungs are still so immature. Sounds like your treatment was about the same as ours.

Celia I've heard it's very common/easy for kids under 7 to dislocate stuff since their joints are really loose due to their growing bones. My girlfriends kids (she has 3) have disclocated so many things, she doesn't even take them into the dr. anymore, just pops it all back in herself.

Kaeden's Mommy I would kill for DS to eat veggies! He'll automatically turn it down on sight if it's green. Hope you feel better soon.

deelcie No, they didn't say it was 'for life', but that some kids grow out of it and some don't. We're (including the ped) hopeful he'll grow out of it. He is doing well with the meds. They didn't run any tests. When we took him to the hospital, they'd already 'diagnosed' him previously as asthmatic, but did not have him on any medication routine. At the hospital, it was clear he was struggling and his pulse-ox was too low. His skin was pale and the rims of his eyes were so red (they told us the next thing we would've seen if we hadn't brought him in was blue lips and toe/fingernails--pretty scary).

It's not some thing we're second guessing--my family has a history of asthma and Colin was a c/s. We are certain it's asthma. If you're unhappy with the abrupt diagnosis, I would certainly seek answers.

Hi! I hope everyone is doing well, sounds like these poor babies have been having a rough time!

NikkiD how terrible that Kaitlyn broke her arm, it must have been very traumatic for both of you! I'm glad she seems to have forgotten about it (she's adorable btw) and her pink cast is very stylish!

Deelcie sorry to hear about Deacon, it definitely doesn't hurt to get a second opinion! I could only imagine how horrible it would be to spend 3 days at the hospital with Tyler...you are one tough Mama!

Celia how scary it must have been to see Milo's arm hanging, I would have totally freaked! I'm glad it was something that could easily be fixed and hopefully it will remain that way!

Titia sorry I haven't responded to your e-mail, I will try to get to it tonight. I hope you are having a good time, Holden looks adorable in his J&J valentine's shirt! Tyler has the Gap pants H is wearing in the second picture, they are so cute!

Here is a recent picture of Tyler (we had his hair cut too short this last time and I am anxiously waiting for it to grow back!):

When are our babies supposed to get their eye teeth in? I though Tyler was going to get them some time ago but they have yet to break through....

Nikki -
She looks so cute with the little pink cast but what a bummer to have to go through that! Glad to hear she doesn't need surgery!

Deelcie -
We suspect that Holden may end up getting diagnosed as asthmatic, but so far the Dr. has only gone as far to say he may have "asthmatic tendencies", nothing has been mentioned about testing or actually diagnosing him.
We had a trip to the ER that got Holden admitted for exactly the same thing and it was scary! Now we have an inhaler for him and whenever he gets a cold we end up needing to use it for at least a day because his breathing always gets bad. We've never had to use it when he hasn't had a cold though, and he's not on any kind of maintenence meds or anything. HTH.

Melissa -
Got your email! :)
I can't see the pic of Tyler! :( I'm anxious to see his hair since I just loved the way it looked last time I saw it and aspire to have Holden's hair like that. ;)
I just can't bring myself to get his curls cut off yet but so many people think he is a girl!

As far as eye teeth, Holden is still working on getting one of his in. They went up and down a bit and gave him a pretty hard time. He cut 3 of them pretty much at the same time though so I can understand why he was cranky! I'm sure T will get his soon and hopefully they will be a breeze for him.

We had a good time in SF. The boys were so cute together. We got some pics from Picture People but my scanner bites so I don't know if/when I'll be able to share them but here are a couple other pics.

quick question for the ro's who had m/s did it last as long as it did with #1? did it last longer? i don't know why, but i'm starting to fear that the m/s will last longer this time, i feel like i'll never feel normal again.

dana ~ My m/s was different with this pregnancy. With DS I was sick from 12 weeks until he was born. This time it lasted to 16 weeks and still comes every now and then (I'm 27 weeks). Hope you start feeling better very soon.

dana- I think we've talked about this before, but my m/s lasted longer the second time. It does most of the time if it's beyond just the normal run of the mill morning sickness. 24 fairly severe weeks vs. 17 weeks. And things were just "touchier" the whole time. Do you have a nanny? We had one just for the mornings, and I don't know how I would have gotten through without her.

dana - With my current pregnancy, my m/s is a lot worse than the first time around. It started a lot earlier and lasting longer too.

Oh yeah, we're expecting a baby girl on 8/15/06. I guess that means I need to update my info on the first page. :)

thanks Kaeden's Mommy, pullbuoy, bluhimmy. it's actually not as bad as last time, but that might be because i've had zofran since 6 weeks this time. i guess i'm just hearing too many stories (from my mom and mil) of women having it the whole nine months and that freaked me out.

pullbuoy no i didn't get a nanny. it's hard, but were managing.

Just popping in really quickly to say hi and to respond to Dana B.

I felt fine the entire time with DS, but 2nd time around was a bit different. I don't know if it was because it was a girl the 2nd time or just because it was the 2nd time, but I definetly felt worse with my DD. It wasn't awful, but I just had a very limited appetite and got sick feeling if I tried to exercise (even just pushing a stroller sometimes). I think it went away about 15 weeks or so. I hope you're feeling better soon!
One benefit of the 2nd time around though...labor may be much quicker. 19 hours the first time vs less than 3 hours the 2nd.

Here are some pics of our new daughter, Kaylie Tate H.
Big Brother Jack pushing sister down the hall to our room. He later pushed her out of the room...but I think he just liked pushing the cart.

I was going to say the same thing! Congratulations on your DD! :) She's absolutely beautiful!

I am with hapa on the quicker labor - 24+ hours of labor and 3 hours of pushing with DS vs. 6 hours of labor and 5 minutes of pushing with DD! Sorry to hear about the MS. My first trimesters were totally different. With DS it was constant nausea, 24/7. With DD is was extreme nausea and puking every now and then.

Oh thanks for asking about JOsh's sleeping-he's actually doing great!

Celia I can't see the pics. ARe you using shutterfly? That site doesn't work anymore for posting pictures. SOme people are using photobucket or snapfish.

Not much going on here. I'm 32 weeks pregnant and it's so much harder this time around chasing after a toddler. I can hardly put him in his crib for bedtime b/c it's so hard to reach in. OH well, not to much longer I suppose.

I'm just waiting for some warm weather so we can spend more time outside.

Hope everyone and babies are doing great. Well I guess they aren't babies anymore huh.

Hapa You look fabulous as always:) I love Kaylie's name too. Do you know that song the funky Kaly? I have no idea how they spell it or even what it means or who sings it but I can't get it out of my head now. Jack looks like an awesome big brother.

I haven't heard about either of the RO:( I hope they are just busy with their growing families:)

Dana So funny- I am not sure how much quicker it can go than your last labor! You may want to keep 911 on speed dial:eek:

I'm so surprised to hear you want to postpone you c/s after the fun time you had at the end with H. I know what you mean about not really being ready the 2nd time around though... I didn't even pull out the car seat, pack my bags or set up the bassinet until the night I delivered this time. Cutting it kind of close huh? Does H understand what's going on? Oh, I haven't heard that song that I can think of...I'll have to look it up. :)

Thanks for the congrats everyone. Kaylie is doing great. She's been sleeping about 5 hrs (midnight to 5 or so) straight at night, feeds for about 15min and then goes back to sleep until I wake her around 8am. I sure hope she keeps this up!

For all those RO...it's so funny...after you change your tiny newborn's diapers, your 1st child seems sooo huge...like a giant. It's like those size 5 diapers are depends.

Hapa- we have that book too, H loves it. I think we will probably stick with our CS date. I just want to make sure this one is fully baked too.
I can't believe you are getting five hours straight at night! I so hope I get that model this time around:p I am not sure H gets the whole baby thing. He pulls my shirt up and pokes my belly and says "baby" and kisses it and then pulls my shirt down and says "bye bye baby!" He also thinks my 'outie' is the baby's nose and eskimo kisses it. The first time he did it I nearly peed my pants. Your kids look so much alike, just adorable!

Sal Awww she's adorable!!! You look great and I can't believe how big Dylan looks. Can't wait for more pics.

Jakedog Wow only a few days for you now. We just bought a mini van so luckily putting Josh in his seat doesn't hurt to bad-well except when he fights me on it.

Alright anyone got any tips on how to make brushing Josh's teeth easier. My God it's a battle every night. The tears, screaming etc. You'd think we were pulling his teeth not just brushing them. I feel like I've tried everything, we have the oral gel tooth paste, I let him hold a brush while I have one, I let him brush my teeth while brushing his etc. What might work for 5 seconds one night won't work the next. It's so fustrating.

Don't even get me started on diaper changes, he freaks out on those too. I've started just taking his diaper off while he's standing, getting a few wipes in and let him run around w/o a diaper for a few minutes before I change him while standing. I swear changing poop diapers should be an olympic sport.

Other than that things are fun here. Finally getting some warm weather and we get outside as much as possible. Hope everyone is doing great. Slow thread so those toddlers are certainly keeping us all busy!

Thanks so much for the congrats and compliments on my little Kate :)

Steve's Sweety I saw that shirt on another kid and stopped a mom to ask where she got it! It is from Cookiebaby.com Should we expect an announcement soon?? :D

Jen Diaper changes have been AWFUL for a few months now. I was sure Katie was going to come out with dents in her head with all the times Dylan kicked my pg belly. I have now gotten mean but I have no choice. I literally lean over dylan with my weight on him and say NO so sternly until he holds still. he cries and then eventually plays with whatever book or toy I have brought over to distract him. It is just a control thing and I just lay over him until he realizes he will NOT win. it is honestly the only time I have to get tough with him and I hate it but I can't wrestle with him so many times a day!

Jakedog can't wait to hear your good news!!

Caro sounds like you are doing great. good luck and I am sending the baby lots of stay put vibes!

We are doing great here so far. 5 days old and katie only got up once to nurse last night between 10pm and 5am. :D I was shocked! but she has been nursing a ton during the day so maybe she already has her days/nights figured out. at this time dylan was nursing ALL NIGHT. my milk also came in much faster this time. dylan is starting to take more of an interest in his sister. he came over a few times today to gently rock the swing and yesterday she was stretching out her little hand and he reached out to touch her fingers and smiled. it was so sweet. and on the whole, he really has been so good and does not get upset when I nurse her or anything. fingers crossed this lasts a while!

Congrats Hapa and Sal! What beautiful babies and lucky big Brothers!!!

A lot of Lewis' friends are welcoming new babies and Lewis is in love with the babies. He wants to touch there hands and the feet. He kisses the bellies and puts his cheek nex to there face for them to kiss him. It is so cute that on Sunday we took him to Toys R Us to get his own baby doll. Wow does this kid love Baby.. not as much as hockey.. but its close.

Anyone elses kid going there a total change of disposition? Lewis is usually a go with the flow easy happy kid. Lately he is a crappy pant tempermental type. I am really wondering if there are 2 year molar issues at hand.

I hope you are all well.

Just saw this on LJ! Born today at approximately 3:15pm, Chloe Denise. 2510 grams. Both mum and bub doing fine. Caroline didn't make it as far as her appointment and instead was taken straight up to the delivery rooms and waited there until a c-section was organised. They took her up about 2.05 p.m. and she just had to wait whilst an emergency c was performed elsewhere then it was her turn. She was having contractions around 2-3 mins. apart by the time she had the procedure but she wasn't in any major discomfort. She's absolutely amazed and thrilled about Chloe's birth weight but very tired and a bit emotional. I had the thrill of seeing Chloe have her first wash and take a bottle. She's already gone from 12 mls up to 16 mls and seems to be doing very well. I think she looks almost identical to Ruby but bigger of course but let's see what Mum thinks when she gets to see her again properly. Both Caro and Jason were allowed to nurse her for 10 mins. before she was taken off to special care. She breathing on her own and doesn't have anything but a feeding tube in at the moment.

They have some fantastic pics so I am sure Caro will post them when she can. We even got to see her placenta after the birth which I know would gross a lot of people out but it was pretty amazing to see what your daughter/grandchild has been surrounded in for 34 weeks. All her stats are around the normal mark so fingers crossed it will just be a short period of time before Caro is able to take her home. Posted by caroline's mom.

Sorry I'm so sporatic with the posting. I either forget or never have anything to say.

I did buy a potty chair for Paige. She used it once to go poopoo. After she started bawling. I think that she thought she was introuble. She sits on it but doesn't go. So we'll keep letting her do as she pleases for a while longer.

Second b-days. I've started thinking about Paiges. Who to invite what's the theme and what to buy for gifts. She loves Jojo's Circus and we have like 50 showes DVR'd so she can watch em. I found some party places online that offer stuff. So I think that will be our theme. And we are having a cook out like last year. Just with less people. Now onto gifts. I think we are going to get her a kitchen. Not for sure yet.

I think I saw where some of you got your kids a kitchen for christmas. What kind did you get? Do they like it? Good/bad things to say about them? Any info would help.

CONGRATS TO ALL RO"S!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Congrats on all the new babies!!! I too am having issues with diaper changes. Jaiden absolutely HATES them. Cries, screams, fights, it's a chore in itself. But we had another potty breakthrough. she said pee peep and took my hand and led me to the bathroom where she proceeded to pee in the toilet!! I was so excited for her. Now she will say pee peep or poop then bathroom on a regular basis but has already done whatever she had to do in her pamper and is more telling me so that I will change her. but it's progress.

Glad everyone is doing well.

Congrats to all the ROs. Sorry I've not posted much lately. I read your posts frequently, but don't usually have anything to add. I did want to chime in on the potty training discussion though.

We're not really pushing the potty training, but we've had a lot of luck. One time Maddie was in the bath and about to have a BM, so I picked her up and put her on the potty. Ever since then, she's been really interested in the potty. She'll frequently say potty and take us to it. Usually she actually goes, but sometimes we're too late. If I initiate it, she will usually go, too. We're not very regular about asking her if she has to go though. I guess we should be, but I just don't have the motivation -- largely because it's a wrestling match to put the diaper back on after she goes potty. She just loves running around the house naked.

She's not 2 yet, so I guess we're ahead of the game. I'm not too worried about it.

It's been so quiet here!

Except for all the newborns coming lately, all GIRLS, so funny as there were so many boys last time around.

Celia -
Milo is so cute, his little cheeks are adorable!

Well we have had some potty luck recently too! I am trying not to get too excited because, well, he is so young but when I put him on the potty, he will pee (sometimes)!

Other than that, we have hit the um, shall we say "less mild mannered" stage here too. We now have opinions on most everything and like to voice them loudly, whereas before we were just very go with the flow. Still is pretty mild though, so hoping it stays as such. :)

Hope everyone is enjoying the sunny spring weather!

For all you ladies with boys that are potty training (or trying to) :) what potties are working for you?

I'm going to go out this weekend and get one for Dylan but wanted to get some feedback.

Hi everyone, I've been here lurking, but I haven't been with you from the start, so it's hard. We're also having potty luck... Every time we put Blake on, he goes. He also asks to be changed some times. He has never pooped in the potty or toilet, but he does tell you right away when he has pooped.

Regarding potty chairs, we have the Royal Potty and Blake will NOT go on it. The first time he went on the potty, I just held him on. We have since gotten inserts for the toilet ring and those are awesome.

Congratulations to all of the mommies-again! How are you guys doing with more than one? Is it more difficult with two, or better since you know what to expect?

I never bought Maddie a potty. We just got one of those potty inserts. That worked great for a while, but now she refuses to use it. She just sits on the regular potty and holds herself up.

from stumbles' LJ:
At 11:05 am today on the 12th of April we were blessed with the birth of a beautiful happy and healthy baby boy. We have called him Reuben Connor. He weighs 7lb 12 ounces. 50.5cms in length. With a shock of black hair.

Congrats to Stumbles Crazycaro and Monique!!

Potty we are NO WHERE near it. Dylan will be potty trained maybe when he is 6

Dana B I did a search for gripe water and a post you wrote came up. I think I would like to try it with Katie. She is so much fussier at night than Dylan. SHe is a better sleeper overnight but btw 8 and 11pm - forget it. FUSSY! Did you find a brand that was good? Did she hate the taste? tips please if you are still checking in here. thanks! :)

I had a meltdown last night at midnight. I was just SO tired and I wanted to go to SLEEP. and I really should not even complain. Katie has only gotten up once a night since we have been home. but still I am so tired and it is hard to go from a completely scheduled toddler to a completely unscheduled newborn. She is the sweetest thing, but I really hope this fussy evening period ends soon!!! At least the weather is nice now so I can get out every day for long walks with them. And pushing that double stroller is doing wonders for toning my legs!
Hope all the mommies, toddlers and new babies are doing well!

Hi ladies!

Congrats to all of the 2nd-time Mamas! I have no idea how you ladies ae doing it with two. I would be so very tired. But looking at all the newborns makes me almost want to think about another.....almost.

Here are some recent photos of Alexander from Good Friday. We had friends and family to our houe to dye Easter Eggs:

Potty training is going ok here. Sometimes it is hit or miss. We're using a plain potty from target. We bought "A Throne of Their Own" and Alexander refuses to use it. He doesn't like anything fancy.

We're planning Alexander's 2nd birthday for June 17. We're going with a Coyboy theme.

Glad to hear that all is well with our Junebug Toddlers! :)

Love the pics!

Not much time to post...I'm bushed. Drinking some pineapple wine and I'm sure this half a glass is going to put me to sleep any second now.

sal You there? Hey, how do you like that Zooper of yours? I was going to recommend it to a friend having her second kid, but thought I would get your opinion first. Does your snugride fit in it well? Does it fold up easy enough you can throw it into your car?
Hope things are going okay...sounds like Katie has been giving you a rough couple of days. Kaylie still sleeps a lot, but when she's awake she no longer just sits there and stares...now she wants to be picked up and moved around more. And that scream is getting pretty loud. I wanted some wine the other night, but I was just too tired to get up to get it. :) But it's going pretty good for the most part.

talk to you all soon,

Hapa LOL yes I am here. BARELY. this is stressful having 2 under 2! Katie luckily has mellowed a bit at night during the witching hour. But wants to be held all the time during the day. We are going to somehow have to correct all this stuff - having her sleep with us, nap in the swing or my arms...but since she sleeps beautifully overnight so I don't want to mess with anything!
I love my zooper, but it is my second stroller. It does not fit the snugride. I also have the graco tandom. they are both big and heavy but the 2006 zooper is 26 pounds, lighter than past years. the graco is over 30. that thing is a bus. I find the few times I have gone out with them alone I just bjorn katie and put dylan in the cart or the single maclaren. The zooper is a dream for walks though. And it folds down easily and stands folding.
hope you are doing well. how is the move??

I am loving our Zooper tango but I am finding the sunshade is not enough on our walks. does anyone know if these work on the zooper before I buy one?

http://www.buybuybaby.com/images/products/family/1312200013.jpg

Sal -
I just realized yesterday that the sun shade on the Zooper goes all the way forward - almost touching the bar.... kinda like the way the sun shade on the Maclaren goes forward. I bet your model has the same feature. Unfortunately, I don't think it would work with one seat fully reclined.

Hope it works!

Still so quiet in here!

Well our potty successes continued and Holden is now in undies full time!

Other than that, not much going on, pee and poop have been our whole day now for a while, LOL.

Hope everyone is doing well!

No way! Pottty trained! I'm so impressed. I'll have to look back a few pages to see how you guys did it. I bought jack one of those inserts for our toilet and plopped him up there the other day. He started to cry. Guess we're not quite there yet. Congrats to you guys!

Happy Birthday Gina! I've been thinking of her with Ruby's coming up so soon. She was our first birthday baby 2 years ago, so hard to believe it has been so long since you had our first baby!

Your girls are sooooo grown up now! It was good to see pictures of them it has been too long!

Hapa, your kids are so gorgeous, and you are too skinny to be a new mom, I hate you. :D

Chloe turned 1 month old this past Saturday, Ruby will be 2 on the 18th! Time flies.

No potty training going on here, no interest in it yet.

You and your kiddos look great! I still get surprised every time I see a pic of our summer babies because I think they are still babies but then I see them and they are little people!

Potty Learning -
The way we did it was to first introduce a potty chair, just by putting it in the bathroom and talking about it. Then we started taking him in with us when we went and gently encouraging him to sit on his. Bought a book about it and gave it to him. Then he was ready to sit on it with clothes on. Did that for a while then got him to start sitting on it with a bare butt. One day while he was sitting on it he happened to pee, and I made a huge deal out of it. It clicked and he was really interested after that so I started taking him every morning. If he went, great, if not I just told him, "no pee, we'll try later". Did that a few days then started taking him every afternoon before nap also. He started having more instances of actually peeing when he'd be on it and after that it just took off really quick and he started telling me all the time he wanted to go. He'd only go maybe 1/3 trips but it progressed from there. If he hadn't mentioned it in a while I'd tell him I wanted to take him in to try. We sang songs and read books on the potty while we were waiting for something to happen. Once he was wanting to sit on the potty that much I didn't want him getting confused so we went straight to undies and put the diapers completely away.
He wakes up dry from nap every day but is sometimes wet in the morning. We use his cloth diapers that snap up for overnight and tell him they're nighttime undies but I don't think we'll need to for very long, out of the week and a half he's only woken up wet I think 3 times.
But we are pretty strict about his liquid intake and he only gets rice milk and water so he might not have to pee as much as some kids who drink more. ;)

Hope that helps those of you who are ready to give it a try!

Terena -
Yeah, new thread sounds good to me!

i didn't realize this thread was so busy lately. i've been checking in, just not posting because we don't have much going on. my m/s is finally over so i can focus more on noa now.

sal for gripe water, i used the baby bliss brand that they sell everywhere. this time around i may shop around for something preservative-free, but i don't really think it matters. iirc, it tastes sweet, noa didn't refuse it at all. i'm so not looking forward to that fussy period again.

hapa love the pictures, so sweet.

potty i'm the slacker, we haven't even bought a potty yet!

2nd birthday no party this year. my parents are planning to bbq at their house and i bought some winnie the pooh stuff since that's her favorite right now. what are you guys planning to do for gifts? some things i'm thinking of - a trike, easel and outdoor table and chairs set.

Titia I can't believe you guys are on the potty already!

Potty-We talk about the potty all the time and H's poops are horrendous but I don't have the will to start until he is three I am guessing. I am hoping to do them both at the same time (wishful thinking perhaps!)

dana- glad you are feeling better.

Danielle and Heather your kids are adorable!

2nd birthday- we are skipping the party and taking H to a "day out with Thomas" Should be utterly rediculous but I think it will blow his mind. He loves his "choo choo!" We are getting him a tricycle and a train set.

We are also having our backyard landscaped into a little person (and big people) paradise so thats his 'big' gift;) Ok its more for me knowing the have a safe contained place to play:)

Hapa- congrats on the house!!!!

Happy birthday Gina!

My baby is noctural and I am so freaking tired. Poor H is bored out of his mind.

StrollersI have to mention that we have used our stroller two maybe three times so far. And frankly it wasn't any easier than having Elli in the Bjorn and H walking or in a shopping cart. I am psyched to break out the double jogger (dreamer design Ditto) but frankly I am to tired to even think about walking for excercise right now. So I am sure double strollers are handy but I am not sure it was even a necessity for us.

What was a necessity however was to switch over to a backpack(from the diaper bag and purse or beach bag) so I can have two hands free, one to hold H's hand and the other for the bucket (or to open close doors etc when Elli is in the bjorn or pouch)
