Has this ever happened to you?

Well, I spent last night in the ER because I was having very heavy bleeding. Not really cramping, just a lot of bleeding. They did some tests but basically I left not knowing much more than I need to see my doctor on Tuesday. They did an ultrasound and the baby measured about 6 weeks. There was no heartbeat but they didn't know if it's because it had died or because it was too early to show up.

Anyway the doctor said he figures I'll go on to miscarry and I figure he's probably right. But he said that sometimes things like this can happen and people can go on to have healthy babies. That just seems crazy to me. So I'm wondering if anyone has any real life experience with this. Did you have heavy bleeding early on but go on to have everything be okay?

I'm sorry you're going through this. I have not had heavy bleeding but I have had spotting. I also had an ultrasound at 5 1/2 weeks and there was no heart beat. One week later it was there. I've heard that the heart does not start until 6-6 1/2 weeks so you may still be OK. Maybe your dates could be off? I hope everything is OK and it is just a scare.
