mpix.com has a parent company, millers, that handles pro printing. there are several pro labs out there that are very good.

I upload mine to www.shutterfly.com or www.snapfish.com and order prints from there. I've been very happy with them.

I have a really good HP photo printer so all I do is buy high quality Kodak photo paper and then print out my digital papers. This has been working out great for me since I not only save money, but also can make as many copies of the pics as I want within a few minutes for whoever wants one.

I second www.mpix.com
I've been using them for all of my weddings and engagement photos lately. We have a pro lab in town that we use (I'm a photography major so luckily it's open to us to use) but I find that Mpix is of great quality and very easy to use.

Txssenorita~Thanks for the site....I will check it out as soon as I am done with s/os!!!
Jenessa~I also have used my photo printer. BUT I print out pictures so much that it wore on my printer in just 1 year!!!! I take TONS of pictures. So I want to cut down on how much I print. Thanks for sharing!!!
Jennylou~Thanks for the info. I have uploaded to shutterfly to share online (like here) but never knew how their pics turned out when you upload & order. Nice to hear that someone likes them.
ManteoChik~HEY THERE!!! Thanks for letting me know about mpix.com!!! Are you on break from school for a couple weeks or do you only get a short time off???

I send my stuff to a family-owned place I'm really impressed with. And I always get matte, I like it a lot better than glossy. Here is their site:

Look for the info on "digiprints".

If you want a true pro lab, a lot of labs require you to prove you are an actual professional. They want income amounts, the amount of your income that you get from your "business" some require your DBA name. Some require a referral. I messaged you with the couple labs I use.'

luckiestgirl Hey there. Yeah I'm on a break from school. I've got 4 classes left and they start back up next week. Not really looking forward to it, but I'm ready to get it over with.

This is also what I do, mainly. Our printer was down for a while (we were moving it from one room to another, with our desk, and got lax about it), so I printed a couple of times at CVS - the freestanding machine, where you put the CD or camera card in, choose and print your photos. I like the convenience of doing it at home better, though, and our printer is working again, so I'm back to that.
I do use Yahoo Photos and Shutterfly all the time to upload and email photos but I don't ever print from them, except for calendars or cards. I don't want to wait for the pictures to come in the mail!

Just a warning - a lot of photo printers don't print archival pictures. Meaning that 10 years down the line (I can't remember the exact #), your prints won't be the same - the colors might have faded, or the ink could begin to degrade. Since photo printers aren't really truly printing photos, they don't last like photos do. Also, with a lot of photo printers, once you figure in the cost of ink and paper, it's cheaper to go with a photo lab.
I print my pictures at costco and it works well for us!
I'm not a professional, so I hope no one will mock me if I suggest Costco for proofing. They have an online interface for uploading and provide a fast, cheap, and pretty-good quality service for what you pay.
For real prints, there's a professional lab in town that I use. I find that I prefer working with someone live than using a mail-service.

Actually-believe it or not, I send a lot of my clients to Costco. They have professional machines that true labs use, and they clean and calibrate.
One big thing to always tell any place you get them developed locally is NOT to color correct.
You will never learn anything if the lab fixes all your exposures.
