I'm pretty far behind on SO's. I don't think I will be able to get caught back up. I will try a few!
MSH - That is great! I would be on twins!! I'm a little worried because mine at 14 DPO was 2811!
numberlady - I was told with my last two pregnancies no rides once I had a BFP. Every doc is different. They won't mind at all if you call with a few questions.
batgirl - I had to call my doc's office to get my beta's. They did them on a Friday afternoon and had them by 9:00 Monday morning. My doc's office only calls if something is wrong but I wanted to know the number so I called and asked. They don't mind at all!
We spent 6 hours in the ER waiting room and 2 hours back in a room yesterday. Lauryn was a little dehydrated so they gave her some IV fluids (which she pulled out and had to have put in again!). They think it is roto virus based on her symptoms and it is going around pretty bad. Oh yeah! To top it off my MIL decided we can't deal wit DD on our own so she is driving down. I love my MIL to death but even my husband says he has no idea how he survived childhood! Over Christmas she gave Lauryn ice cream 3 different times! What part of "Lauryn can not tolerate milk products" does she not get? She said she didn't realize ice cream was a milk product! If L cries or wimpers for any reason she is convinced she is sick or hurting or is hot/cold! I do not want her watching my daughter all day long!!!
And one more thing!!! We had a wreck on the way to the ER!!!! It wasn't bad at all, more cosmetic damage then anything.
Sorry I got so long winded!

UTChick that is great news that your principal took the news so well, I am petrified to the day I break the news at work. I just got this job and conviniently enough September 1st 2006 is the first month I qualify for STD and maternity leave. It is not like if I did it on purpose, we had been trying for 7 months but of course no one knows that.
Adam's Pi just feel lucky! eventhough I am not feeling myself I am not too bad neither, but I learned the hard way... seems like everytime I make a comment about it m/s kicks my butt. I am not complaining again about not having as many symptoms as others have. I wish I was like one of those girls though that went throught the first trimester with no issues.
Numberlady not sure if riding the rides would be ok, but I think that might be consider one of those things that yuou dont do normally, my take would be not to do it, but of course they also tell you not to fly on the first trimester and I went on a 9 hour trip.
Golden if changing the doctor makes things better, good call! that is the last thing you need to worry about with all the stress we are going through as it is! I am lucky enough that I love my doctor, but it only took me 6 years to find one I liked.
Happy Boy is this time going by faster than I remember it the last time!
OMG to me seems like if the days dont go by fast enough! must be the whole first pregnancy thingy :)
MSH congrats for your betas (sorry yesterday I didn't have time to respond), how would you feel about havint twins? seems like if there is a chance! man I would love to! one pregnancy and done... besides in my case that would be the only way for sure that I would get a second (DH only wants one).
It is only 9:30 am and I am already yawning ... crazyness.
that is about the same time I start yawning nowadays.
I know exactly what you mean about having your family overseas, is hard as it is and now with a baby on its way... very sad :(. I was planning on going home around May (long story I had to cancell my trip in august for obvious reasons). Well now I dont know what to do, I really wanted to see everybody while pg, but DH just had a talk (right before we found out we were pg) and decided that going forward is only one trip a year back home. So, I have to decide if I go home while pg or once the baby is borned.
Batgirl that would have freaked me out too!. Btw I never got my betas either and I am 7w2d, I dont think is something you need to worry about, but for what I hear if you ask them they should be able to tell you. I figured the doctor will look at them and will let me know if they are not high enough, but like you said I am three weeks late and had three BFPs... that must mean something, right? Not to mention the nausea and that I fall asleep everyday by 8:00pm.
Dallaslady sorry I dont know anything about midwives and first appointments... I guess I have a lot to learn! Good luck tomorrow with your betas!
cjones15OMG I can't imagine having my MIL so close that she could just get in the car and drive over (I love her to death, but I feel the same about having my mom so close). I can't believe she didn't know that milk was a dairy product . I hope the insurance takes care of your car!

Hi all!
I made my first OB appointment yesterday! It was funny, when I told the receptionist I needed to come in because I'm pregnant, she cautiously said, "And are you happy about it?" They won't see me till I'm 8 weeks, so the appointment is February 7. B is all excited about going with me. :)
Possible TMI - my bbs are still sore, but they feel a lot softer than they have been. They've felt really hard and tender, but it's like they softened up overnight. Kinda weird.
No m/s yet, but yesterday I had very little appetite. I had to force myself to eat. When I do eat, my stomach gets kind of "gurgly." Not pleasant. I went to the store and stocked up on healthy stuff. I felt so virtuous buying whole wheat bread, veggies, fruit, etc. :) I've been more of a junk food junkie in the past, but I feel much more inspired to eat healthy now!
Re: yesterday's QOTD, I'm a little worried about weight gain. I'm happy with my weight now, but I'm worried about how much I'll put on (and taking it off!) We used to drink wine with dinner every night, so actually I've been cutting out calories since I found out! I've been trying to eat healthy and not pig out too much. I found a prenatal yoga class that starts in February, and a health center near us offers prenatal exercise classes 4x a week. I'm going to start doing those, and I also ordered a pregnancy fitness DVD for when I'm too lazy to leave the house! I've been a runner in the past, but right now I'm trying to just walk a few times a week for cardio.
I have a couple of questions, and I'm sure someone here must know the answers!
- I'm taking a regular multivitamin (with 100% folic acid) but everything I read talks about taking a prenatal vitamin. I'm sure my doctor will advise me, but my appointment isn't for another few weeks. Is a regular multivitamin ok, or should I be taking something more specific?
- What's the deal with the deli meat thing? I know you're not supposed to eat meat or salads from deli counters, but is it ok to eat prepackaged lunchmeat?
Thanks in advance!
Can I take a nap here at my desk?
Please?
*yawn*
DI Haha you too the words right out of my mouth. I am struggling to stay awake and of course I am not busy at work today. If only I had something work related focus on.
batgirl please fo let us know what the manager say. They definatly should be sensitive towards your concern. It is not like you are asking them something completely unreasonable like having them remove all the pens in the office. I would agree with your DH, if they do not listen to you, take your concern to HR. As for the BETAs, it truly doesn't make a different when you know or find out at all. It is after all just a number and won't change the fact you are preggo.
cjones oh my gosh what a night you had. I am a little confused with your MILs statement about not knowing ice cream is a dairy product, yet she believes you and DH are not capable of taking care of DD, which she is sick. I don't know how you do it. My MIL lives really close and I am afraid of all of hers and GMILs comments and 'helpful' suggestions throughout PGcy and motherhood.
babywish I would love to have twins. Since I was alittle girl I always thought I would have twins but I thought it would be my 2nd PGcy. DH and I are planning on having 4 children so it would healp us catch that goal faster. Plus DH has been saying for the past 6 months he thinks it would be twins when it finally happened.
Aren't the 10am yawns just redicules. I feel like my co-workers think I haven't been to bed and partied all night. In fact I go to bed at 10:30pm, plus take a nap when I get home from work.
Jonesey I think the most important thing in regards to vitamins are folic acid and iron. Your Dr should tell you at your first appointment if you should be taking prenatals. I have been taking them for 2.5 years now instead of a multivitamin and they are very similar. Not sure what the thing about the delimeat is but I would be interested to find out. I love my deli!

Hello all, no time for major s/o's. Will do that later.
Jonesy ~ No kind of deli meats whatsoever. You can get listeria which can cause flu like symptoms and in rare instances, fetal death. Not worth a ham sandwich imho.
This is my 2nd pg and it already feels like I've been pg for 6 months. Lets get this show on the road already!!!:D

Jonsey You're going to get mixed reactions on your questions. As for the deli meat thing, it's just a matter of common sense. If you're worried the meat has been out too long without being refrigerated, don't eat it. If it's been kept cold, it'll be fine. I (as well as my friends when they were pg) had cold ham & cheese at Subway all the time during our pregnancies and never had issues. Now if you go to a picnic and the meat's been out all afternoon, not a good idea to risk it.;)
As for the regular multivitamin, I'm not sure. I know some nowadays have the right amout of folic acid in it but I can't remember. I just take some really cheap OTC prenatals I find at Walmart and Shopko.

If you are a big deli meat fan, just microwave it or heat it in a pan or broil it until it is steaming--that kills listeria.

Well, I have missed a TON! Congrats and welcome to all the new mommies!
I've caught a virus and haven't kept fluids or solids down for 24 hours. It started yesterday morning at 7:30, Hubby got me dressed and I went to work. I left around 9:30 and came home and was sick ALL. DAY. LONG. I couldn't even keep down water! I tried Gatorade, Ginger Ale, Chicken Broth, Crackers, plain Cheerios... NOTHING! I called the doctor (I was already down 5 pounds at this point) and they called me in some nausea and vomitting medication. I took it last night and have felt okay since. Not my best but better, for sure. I've not thrown up since last night around 10.
I'm still very weak and tired but I'm doing better. I've been able to hold down Ginger Ale and crackers today. I'm down 7 pounds from my normal weight, though. I'll be back at school tomorrow but I've been taking it easy. Hubby said I must be sick because I didn't go near the computer since Monday afternoon when we got home from the mountains! Crazy.
**
QOTD from a long time ago: We haven't really called the baby anything except 'baby' but I do refer to it as Omlette in my journal. I think because I read it was folding over and over and building cells that made me think of making an omlette. Who knows.

MSM & babywish - MIL lives 9 hours away!!! Can you believe she drove all the way down here! She really drives me crazy!!! She's been here since 9 this morning. The other thing is she is a retired teacher! She taught business classes to high school students. She ask a question over everything. She has asked me 5 times why I use clorex bleach instead of another brand. Like it matters to her? Enough MIL vent! Must get back to supervising my child with her.

larslobster hi! so happy you're here.
dallaslady i have no symptoms either and it does concern me. i've always had sore boobies and super-sharp cramps at this point, i am feeling tired though.
weight gain i don't worry about it too much. i gained 35 lbs with my dd (still holding on to about 10 lbs of it  ). when i was pg with my dd, i semi-followed this diet from some dr that believed women should be able to gain more than the standard 25-35 lbs.
cjones wow, so it's rotovirus going around! so many kids i know have that right now. i hope your dd gets better soon. sorry about your mil, that sucks! my dd is just getting over pneumonia and i have to keep her in the house to make sure doesn't catch anything else.
numberlady you can't go on any roller coasters, but i guess you can go on kiddie rides, that's if you want to ;) most faster rides have a sign saying that pregnant women can't ride.
well i have my first appnt with my gp this friday (just to confirm and get my referral). i'm having my first appnt with my midwives on tues at 5w 2d, i told them i need to get in asap to discuss possible m/s meds. last time i was so sick at 6 weeks that i couldn't even make any drs appnts. i've also been doing some research on www.helpher.org on the message boards there. i'm making a long shopping list of what i need to stock up on just in case.

Welcome to all the newbies. I look forward to getting to know you all. I'm feeling really bad tonight. Looks like this pg might mirror my 1st pg. Exhaustion through the day and night and m/s after 4pm. I had a roast beef sandwich for dinner and it didn't stay there long. I'm changing my gender prediction to BOY.

Jonesey - Regarding the prenatal vitamins. My doctor has not prescribed me any yet either...I won't see her until January 27. But she told me to continue taking the OTC prenatals that I bought from Wal Mart. I'm taking "One Source Vitamins for Pregnant and Lactating Women". I've read that your folic acid should be no more than 1000 micrograms (which is 1 milligram). My friend told me that her doctor never would prescribe her prenatal vitamins...she told her to take 2 Flinestone vitamins everyday. My doctor told me the same thing before I got pregnant. Regarding the deli meat, I was shocked about this too...I didn't know anything about it until I read it in a book that I bought...like someone said earlier, they say not to eat it (especially uncooked) because of listeria. It's killing me because I LOVE ham and turkey sandwiches! I could live off sandwiches! The day I got my BFP, on my way back from the doctor's office I picked up a turkey sandwichn from Subway and was calling myself eating healthy! :(
I've been having somewhat of a hard time not drinking my favorite drink of all time....Coca-cola!! :p I normally drink 1-2 cans per day. I've been doing good through. I had one this weekend, one last week and one New Year's Eve....roughly two per week. Also this weekend I tried a caffeine free Coke which was really good! I tried to buy a case of them in the grocery store but couldn't find any!! :(
Di My problem is I am so bored at work I have to eat to keep myself awake .... I'm gonna be huge.
Camdynlyn sorry to hear you have been so sick. I hope this passes soon.
cjones she drove 9 hours!!! I feel for you hun. I've already told DH I will lock the doors once the baby comes and only let people in when I feel up to it. I don't handle people telling me how to do things very well :)
Dana sorry to hear you had m/s so bad last time. Thankfully every PGcy is different. I hope the m/s gods go easy on you this time around.
Dotsie I think I would prefere evening sickness over morning sickness. I have this nightmare I will be at work runing fo the bathroom and not making it.
craftgenius I am the same way about the Coke. Thankfully I went over to de-caf a while ago and don't have to make the transition now. I agree finding the cases can be difficult but they are there ... just seems like the de-caf Diet are more popular.
-------------------------
I am just starving tonight. I had dinner, then a bowl of veggies and now I am eating a bowl of ice cream! I'm gonna be huge .... huge I tell you. Honestly I don't worry about weight at all. Haven't been on a scale in several years. I am one of the fortunate few who can eat whatever without gaining, which I have truly apreciated so far, however I am sure this is all going to change after baby.

Just trying to keep up! :)
MSH - I hear you on the being hungry thing! I go back and forth on being starving and then not hungry at all.
craftgenius - I did drink some caffeine with my last pregnancy, mostly ice tea. I didn't see any negative side effects in DD so far, but now I try to stick to caffeine free because the caffeine keeps me up!
Dotsie - Sorry to hear about the exhaustion and m/s! I was very lucky with my last pregancy not to have any m/s and was only exhaused in the first tri. I'm crossing my fingers that this one is the same!:D
dana b - wishing you no m/s this time around!
cjones15 - MIL sounds like a pain! I'm glad my lives in Hawaii! No quick way to get here.
Camdynlyn - Sorry you're feeling sick. Hope you feel better soon.
As for some of the QOTD -
deli meat - I ate it last time and will probably eat it this time.
nicknames - nothing yet. Just baby.
weight gain - I am afraid of this one. I gained 40 pounds with DD and I was overweight to begin with. And I only lost 22 of those 40, so I'm already higher than I would want to be. So, I'm hoping to only gain another 20, which will put me where I was last time.

sorry I haven't been keeping up with everyone I have been busy at work but I shold be able to keep up better the next few days because I'm off work until sunday. At least the spotting has stopped for now and the nurse told me not to worry unless it got worse and I had cramping at the same time. (easy for her to say) I will be so happy to see the dr. on Feb 14th, i'm hoping to get an u/s but I don't know if they will do one.

Good Morning Ladies ! Yesterday I told my 2 best friends at lunch. They were so excited jumping out of their seats, hugging me etc. They each already have children and have been waiting for me and DH to get preggo. DH also told his sister last night. I am trying to figure out a good way to tell my mom. I want to tell her this weekend, so we may have her over for dinner. I made an appointment with my Nurse Practitioner for a blood test net Wednesday and then I guess they will refer me to the OB. I talked with my friends yesterday and go the name of the Doctor/Group that I am probably going to see.
This thread moves so fast! I will get into the habit of doing shout outs and getting to know you ladies soon, I promise.

I went in to my RE for my second beta this morning, DH will be getting the results at 2pm today. I am then getting a fetal sonogram on February 6th! I can't believe we will get to see the baby so soon! :D That will totally make this seem more real for us. Right now, I don't feel pregnant at all. Will we be able to hear the heartbeat at 7 weeks?
The nurse at the RE's gave me some prescription prenatals to try. How many of you are on prescriptions? Are they better than the over the counter ones?

Spencer's girl So glad to hear your doctor isn't worried about the spotting. I was worried when we didn't hear from you in a while. Glad your back!
numberlady I told my best friend over the weekend. It was a lot of fun to tell her. We won't be telling anyone else for a bit (probably until my first doct appt on feb14th). Its funny, though. For me, I'll be the first to have a baby out of all my friends! And I'm almost 32 years old! I was hoping someone else would be first, but that's the problem with living the academic life. Everyone waits forever to have kids...
DallasLady Cool about the sonogram! I have heard that you can't hear the heartbeat til 8-10 weeks, but everyone is different. Hope you hear it!
MSH I'm with you, man, some nights I can hardly get in the door fast enough to raid the refrigerator. Unfortunately, I get home first and then am full before DH even gets home... :o
Craftgenius for me, its coffee... But honestly, I've been allowing myself one cup of regular joe a day. I'll probably continue drinking it unless the doc says no. My literature from the doctor said to limit yourself to two caffeinated beverages a day. So, for now, I'm keeping the coffee! God help Dh, if I have to give it up!
Not much new here. Feeling pretty good this morning. Honestly, the only thing that I've noticed so far is that my stamina is decreasing. Boy, I sure feel those stairs! So far no m/s (knock on wood), but I read that it ususally hits around the 6th week, which is next week for me... we'll have to see.
Have a great day, ladies.

I just got my blood work back. I am cystic fibrosis negative!! Woohoo. I was a little nervous about that one.
DallasLady That's so awesome that you get to see your baby so soon. Luck girl!!:) I am on a presription prenatal. Prenate Elite. Our prescription plan is awesome. It only costs us $1. I have heard people say the Target brand of prenates are good as well. I guess it doesn't matter which you take as long as you take one.
numberlady Isn't it great when you tell your friends?! It sounds like you have a great support system.
spencer'sgirl I'm glad your spotting has stopped. When I was pg with my DS I spotted brown for over a month. He is now 30 months old and the King of our castle. I'm sure you'll be fine.
Summer Sorry you're sick. I hope you feel better soon.
MSH I hear ya on the always being hungry thing. When I'm hungry, get outta my way, I need to eat then and there. And it seems like as soon as I'm done eating, I'm hungry again.
craftgenius Coke is my favorite soda in the world. In the very beginning of this pg I switched to caffeine free (it's a shame you don't live closer to me, it's everywhere here). Now, I can't stomach it. It's too heavy. I'm now drinking perrier.
I'm sorry if I missed anyone. I feel good today. A little tired but not too bad. The nausea will be back by 5pm of that I am positive. I'm going to try and eat all day so that I'm not too hungry/nauseous tonight.
Craving of the day ~ fruit salad from Acme with their dip...YUMMY!!!

Ladies, I had my first real appointment yesterday, and....
it's like my whole world changed. There's a heartbeat!! I didn't realize how nervous I was about this. But seeing that heartbeat was so much more core-shaking than getting the first BFP-- I think I've been kind of in denial/shock since then. But the midwife put the little doohicky on my tummy and BAM a baby's profile with a little fluttering hb popped up right away. I kind of just looked at it in shock and asked, "that's really in my tummy?" I'm sure the midwife thinks I'm a total ignoramus. But I was so taken aback.
Suddenly I don't feel ill when I feel queasy-- it feels like there is a reason and a purpose, and so I don't mind quite so much. ;)
I've also started going to bed at 8 or 9  , getting up from 12-2 to eat and drink, going back to sleep, and eating at 6 and 8 a.m. I'm right now eating a full lunch because of this tactic!! Hooray!
Question: Am I the only one here who has not yet told her parents?? MSH, have you told? Now that we have a heartbeat, we're going to wait maybe two more weeks before announcing. I'm getting pretty antsy.
Oh, and charters... My midwife insisted on using my last mestrual period to project my due date. I told her that would make it 4 days early, since I didn't o until CD18. But she didn't listen. But when she did the ultrasound, the baby was measuring at 7w6d... when I thought it should be 8 and she thought it should be 8w4d. So humpf. :p I do know a thing or two, midwife.
I'm not exactly happy with her, actually. DH couldn't be there (he's not home yet) and at one point she referred to him as my boyfriend. I don't know why, but that really, really rankled me.
Sorry so long and rambly. I've been out of the loop for a couple of days, but should get back on the CC horse here soon.
Question: Am I the only one here who has not yet told her parents?? MSH, have you told? Now that we have a heartbeat, we're going to wait maybe two more weeks before announcing. I'm getting pretty antsy.
Nope haven't told anyone at all other than DH. I hope to keep it that way until Easter, which is when we were planning on telling our families. However, I am thinking I will be outed at work within too long. I can just feel the m/s creaping up on me. I am sure someone will figure it out if I have an 'insident' at work.
Another question For those of you who are dealing with m/s or nausea, how did you manage to keep it a secret from people at work. I have felt crappy all day today and my co-worker keeps asking me if I am OK. I keep saying I am just tired and ate something funny last night. I am sure that excuse won't last forever. I really, really do not want to tell my supervisor as she is engaged to DHs supervisor and I know the news will spead like wildfire but I wouldn't know how else to explain my running off to the bathroom like someone is after me. My Dr has given me a Px for anit-nausea medication, which I really do not want to take but I absolutely must if I don't want to work out of the bathroom.

Dallas We saw the heartbeat at 6w2d, but could not hear it. I go for another u/s on Monday, which will be 7w5d, hopefully we'll hear it then.
As for prenatal vitamins - can't remember who asked - I've been on them since we started trying to conceive. I take Prenate Elite - they are fine, just a pain to open.
We haven't told our parents yet. We want to wait until after the CVS. I am fearful of disapproval of any decisions we may make based on the CVS. So - we're just not telling.
I know I've missed people - I'm just here on the fly while in DC for business.

Dallaslady - We weren't able to hear the heartbeat but we sure saw it. I think I was 6 weeks at that point. I think you should be able to see it at 7 weeks.
Batgirl - Glad you are feeling good, but I am right there w/ you on the decrease in stamina.
Dotsie- Woo hoo! Congrats on the Cystic Fibrosis negative! Hope the nausea subsides soon :(
Aletheia- Congrats on seeing the heartbeat! I know it made me breathe a huge sigh of relief to see that flickering on the screen :) I hear you on them still going by your last menstral period, my midwife did the same so she has me being almost 5 days ahead of what I really am since I am also a late O'er w/ a 32 day cycle.
MSH- Sorry about feeling sick and I am sorry I have no advice on how to not tell work. I have been telling my office that I am on new antibiotics that make me throw up. Seems to have worked, since nobody has said anything about it :o
______________________________________________
PrenatalsI am taking the Target brand prenatals as well and my midwife wants to keep me on them. I guess they must be pretty good and have what I need or I know she would have switched me.
7wks
I have been a little nauseous today. Brushing my teeth almost made me sick this morning. I know this may sound sick, but I welcome this nauseau because it helps me believe that I am still pregnant and that everything is going as it should be. I can't wait until my next appointment on the 1st so we can see the heartbeat again and maybe even hear it! I will be 8 weeks 6 days then :)
Hope everyone is feeling better. Take Care ladies.

Prenatals: I finished taking the Walmart brand (which my doc said was a really good one) and now I am onto Flintstones for the time being. They have exactly what the Walmart's had except a few things had a little more. Oh well. She said it was fine.
Who knows?: Pretty much everyone. My mom, as I've said, is on Cloud 9 and even emailed me about cribs today.
M/S: Not felt too bad today. I have to say, Zofran is awesome!!! :) I highly recommend it. I took it before getting out of bed this morning. I'm a teacher so all my team knows and 2 other teachers (we're a big school) know. This is just to keep me sane!! Also, the secretary knows because I was freaking out the day I had the pain in my side and when I told her I thought I had a pulled muscle, she replied with, "You must have had a great time in New York!" She just smiled... she knew.

aletheia- we haven't told anyone yet either, even our parents. I have my first appointment at 8 weeks but since I don't know if we will hear the heartbeat then or not I will probably expect to tell after 12 weeks.
No morning sickness (luckily) but I am so exhausted. This baby is kicking my butt. I was wiped out with my dd but not with my ds so maybe it will be a girl. I love the 9 months of guessing & I'll change my mind 100 times between now & the due date:)
Had my first serious craving last night, chocolate milk, I had to have it & it was so delicious. I had two huge glasses.
I take vitafol pre-natals. They are actually left over from my last pregnancy & they expire next month so I guess I'll need a new prescription.

Aletheia Your post was so awesome! I can't wait for my appointment!
Dotsie So glad your CF test came out negative! Always good to have one less thing to worry about.
Camdynlyn Glad your feeling better.
Prenatals I've been taking a prescription prenatal since November. Boy, I would much rather be taking the Flinstones vitamins...
We haven't told our family yet. But its getting harder and harder not to. I was planning on telling them after I hear the heartbeat, but I'm getting weak!
MSH Sorry about the m/s. Luckily I haven't had to deal with that yet. Luckily, most of the people I work with are pretty clueless!

Prenatals: I'm taking Trader Darwin's (Trader Joe's) pre-natals. They are big green horsepills, but so far, they are going down fine. ;)
Telling people: I am really bad at keeping secrets about myself. (I'm good at keeping other people's ones!!) So I told a bunch of people, including my parents, ILs, and grandparents when we first found out. Not everyone on my dad's side of the family (aunts and uncles) know yet, but that's because we aren't in regular touch.
I think DH and I are going to go look at cribs and other baby furniture this weekend.
QOTD: Have you bought anything for FC yet?

Hi everyone,
I am going to try my hand at my first set of shoutouts, and I am really behind. So, forgive me if I miss you or mess up what you said. :)
Babywish- Your DH will be home in two days. Hang in there!
MSH- Holy Betas! That is so great! To answer your dealing with work: My first pregnancy, my close work buddies knew(not my boss), it was a must for them to know because I was pretty sick. A couple others figured it out because I wasn't very happy and noticed things like at the Holiday Party, I wanted Sprite and all they had was coke and beer. I'll tell you a funny story: I asked for sprite and the woman accross from me, said why do you want sprite, and I told her that I prefer not to have the caffeine. She said why?, and of course I am a really bad liar so I said I have a medical condition(ugh, hello?). And she said well I have a sister who is a nurse and I will ask her what medical condition requires you to limit caffeine, I said fine. She of course knew, and was just playing around with me. Anyway a few days later, she came up to me and said that she talked to her sister and her sister said the only two conditions are pregnancy and a prostate problem. So I readily admitted that yes, it was indeed my prostate and I really didn't want it getting around the office. We still joke about it to this day. She even made me a bib for Christopher that says "My little Prostate". I am in a different job now, and I am pretty isolated, so I think it will be easier. If only my stomack would cooperate and stop looking to big!
Lars Lobster-Sorry your appt was a let down. I know my appt tomorrow will be the same way. I am having to fight to even get a lab slip for betas. It's not that hard to check the box!
DallasLady- I don't really have any symptoms yet. Last pregnancy, I was so sick by this point, so I don't know what to think. The sore abs are a good sign, I remember having them with my first and he's 17 months! Good luck on your sonogram.
Fireside Girl-welcome!
Ocgatita-I am with you on the moodiness. I have noticed that pregnancy makes me sad. I recently weaned of Zoloft, but I know in general the hormones take the 'spunk' out of me. In my first pregnancy, chicken grossed me out too. And I don't eat red meat, so I was pretty stuck. Just eat the best you can.
UTChick- Great news about your principal! I hope the flying went well, and you didn't get too sick!
More to follow!

DI- Although we won't be buying a ton of stuff for this baby (except if its a girl- then look out cause my mom and I LOVE to shop for clothes) my mom and I went to target today and bought a convertable car seat. Andrew has the Alpha Omega Elite in my jeep and in DH's car and it was on sale this week for $125 which is a great price so we picked one up. Other than that, I'm going to wait until we find out the sex. Like I said though, we won't need too much, we already have everything from Andrew!
I'm feeling so light headed today. I slept almost 11 hours last nite but i'm exhausted right now. Still no nausea but i'm ready to rip my head off.
Dallas Lady- any word on your betas?
Foofie357
01-19-2006, 01:00 PM
Number Lady- I have taken 8 tests, and I have one more left. Can you tell I'm obsessive? So don't feel bad about taking another test. As far as the rides, I think each ride will have a posting as to whether it's ok to ride. I know things that are fast moving and you could get bumped are going to not allow you. But maybe slower rides would be ok?
Goldenbridge- Congrats on changing doctors. I changed last pregnancy at 28 weeks, and I am glad that I did!
Batgirl-Sorry to hear about the spill. I would definately alert those in charge. Also, I can't even get my doctor to send me for betas let alone not receive the results. I think you said you are getting them soon, but I wouldn't hesitate to call the doctor either.
CJonesis- I hope Lauryn is doing better and your mother in law sounds like she is so fun!
Jonesy- Last pregnancy I took a prescription multivitamin and this pregnancy I am taking a prenatal from walmart. I haven't talked with the doctor, but I am imagine she will say the walmart one is fine. As far as regular vitamins, I think prenatals have more of some vitamins but I am not sure! I know when I was first trying to conceive(with my first) my family doctor told me to take One a day and supplement with folic acid.
Camdynyn- I hope you are feeling better! I have heard the Zofran is the best thing!
Craftgenius-Coke, oh how I love coke. Soda is my biggest weakness. I do like the caffeine free and I can find it around here, but there is something about a real Coke.
Spencer's girl- I am glad the spotting stopped. Last pregnancy, I found out I was pregnant on a Sunday and I started spotting on a Thursday(when my period would be due). I spotted for about 10 days, and they were nervewracking! My doctor told me that all women spot(up there) when the egg implants, some women absorb it and some pass it. I guess I just passed. I haven't had any yet, but I am still early.
Dotsie- Great CF results, that is a relief! I haven't heard of ACME, and I'm not far from Philly. I live in southern Lancaster County, PA. Is ACME a grocery store?
Alethia- yeah for a heartbeat! We haven't told the IL's yet. We are waiting until we see them in person. We bought a "I'm going to be a big brother" shirt for the first time we see them. I have told my Mom, cause she watches Christopher. That is annoying about the charting. I have been charting for 4 years, and last time ovulated at day 19, so of course I was behind. You can just know what day you should be and at the end, a few days off won't matter.
Whew! That was fun. Things are fine here. No symptoms, except pretty tired. I have really expected to be sick now, and although it's a welcoming surprise, it makes me a tad worried. I will let you all know how my appt went tomorrow, but I don't expect it to be too exciting! I just hope they don't put my due date in OCT with their funny little wheel!

QOTD: We haven't bought anything for baby, my mom has been the only person and she bought booties, a hat and a bib with NC State on them. She's sooo ready to buy, buy, buy! She is already looking at cribs but we will wait until we know the sex to buy things. I do want to start looking at carseats and all. Yippe!

I don't know how you ladies are keeping such a wonderful secret! I'm having a hard time not sharing it with everybody I see/talk to! I have another appointment next Friday. I will be 8w1d. I think this time I will actually see the doctor. Question, do you think I will be able to HEAR the heartbeat with a dopler??
Great Betas Dallaslady!!!

DallasLady YAY! Great numbers!
Craftgenius You can't hear the heartbeat until your uterus has risen above your pelvic bone. But everyone's pelvic bone is a different height, so it is possible, although a bit early. We didn't hear DS hb until 12 weeks.

4w5d--The Extreme Exhaustion has hit. Hard.
Telling people I've told two of my friends. That's it. We'll tell our parents next weekend.
prenatals Another Wal-Mart brand user here. My ob also said they are some of the best to use (and they're nice and inexpensive).

Hey ladies - I just wanted to let you know I'm lurking around... I just found out I'm pregnant, but my edd is 10/05/06 so I'm waiting for someone more inclined to be a threadmistress to start an October thread! However, since I "know" or recognize a few of you, I thought I'd jump in and say hi and let you know I'm reading along even though I'm well behind you all.
I'm glad to see some second (or third) time moms. I have a DS, Alex, born 4/5/04 so if my October thread, once it gets started, doesn't have as many 2nd timers I may bounce some thoughts and questions off you ladies instead if you don't mind.
Take care and good luck to all the rest of you waiting on Dr. Appointments!

Oh My God.
One of my friends just pointed out that I put the wrong date for last period into the due date calculator.
So I'm not due 10/5, I'm due 9/27.
How on God's green earth has preggo brain struck so early?
Well, I'm on my way out the door, but tomorrow I'll officially introduce myself to the thread... hopefully I'll prove to be less absent minded as the nine months go by!

octoberkate don't feel bad about your preggo brain, i'm right there with you, i put mascara on my eyebrows this morning :o
prenatals i take food origins prenatals, good thing is you can take them on an empty stomach.
buying stuff i already have a list going. i got rid of some of the baby gear that i didn't really like with my dd, so i need to replace some of that. i have bought some baby boy clothes though :o i got them about 6 mos ago when i had the baby bug bad, i'll just ebay them if we have another girl.

Craftgenius-I remember being ten weeks the last time and they couldn't hear the heartbeat. But, I have a tilted uterus. That being said, I think around 10 weeks is when they try to hear the heartbeat with the doppler. I hope you can be an early bird though!
Happy1- I wanted to thank you for the welcome to constant chatter. I actually remember you and your story from WC. I am so happy for you!
Still really no symptoms-I really would like a blood test just to make sure. Maybe tomorrow, but I am sure I won't get the results until monday at the earliest.
Welcome to OctoberKate, I am due the day after you according to FF. We can stick together being so far behind everyone else!

Well... I finally made it today! I have been swamped at work and didn't have the chance to read anything... how do they dare not let me come by the CC :p.
Feeling much better these days, I feel a little more energetic (which means I fall asleep at 9:30 instead of at 8:00pm), and I dont feel as nauseated as I did last week.
I bought three books this weekend; 'What to Expect when to Expecting', 'The girlfriends guide to pregnancy' and 'your pregnancy week by week'. The last on is the only one that I have started reading, but I have to say I am loving it so far! I am already caught up to my seven weeks :o.
DH is coming back on Saturday and I am looking forward having him around, let me tell you is boring around here without him. Not only that but my puppy misses him, I am the one that walks him, feeds him and spoils him but DH is the one that gets on the floor and plays with him... he is so cute he is been staring at the garage door for the last couple of days, I guess waiting for DH to walk in?.
Who knows... I am also having a really hard time not telling everybody, back home my whole family knows and DH's as well, but they are in Baltimore so is not like if I get to talk about it all the time... I wish I did!. I can tell my boss is getting concerned, he wants to take me to lunch tomorrow, I really dont want to tell quite yet, so I think I am just going to play dumb and say that I dont know what he is talking about, I am fine :o. I guess everybody at the office is talking about how 'quite' I have been lately, but honestly I have no energy to talk and when I do m/s gets in between.
Jonesy This whole deli meat conversation is really worrying me. I eat a sandwich everyday (which means I have cheese and deli meat), I make them at home, but now I dont know what I can and I can't do. My doctor told me to do normal life until my visit (1/24), so I guess I will check with him then. Regarding the prenatals I have been taking whatever my doctor gave me back in April when we started TTCing.
Summer I am so sorry you are feeling so sick, I hope you are feeling better.
cJones15 9 hours a way and she manages to go visit when she feels like it? OMG she sounds like lots of fun
Dotsie I hope you are feeling better. I got a question cause I am confused... I thought they usually say that if you have bad m/s is a girl, isn't it?
craftgenius I am lucky that I am not a soda person, but I know exactly what you mean because I love coffee and I have been without it for two weeks now... do you get headaches by the way? I have notice I get more since I dont drink coffee. At 8w you are suppose to be able to hear the hb, but is going to depend on the dopler your doctor has. The only reason why I know this is because I asked the nurse when I called for my appointment (I will be 8w1d) and she said that their dopler is an older one and I wont be able to hear it until 10w or so.... but you will be able to see it.
MSH if you dont have issues with your weight eat away girl! and have a bowl of ice cream for me... and the baby :D. Regarding work... I haven't told anybody but I know that once I break the news they will understand my multiple trips to the bathroom, my tired face and why I am being so quite... lets see for how much longer I can keep my little secret.
spencer's girl I am so glad the spotting has stopped, enjoy your days off!
Numberlady I am so jealous you told your friends, I really just want to tell everybody!... I just have to keep telling myself: 4 more weeks, 4 more weeks.
Aletheia OMG now I can't wait til Tuesday, I am so excited knowing what I have to look forward! Funny I will be exactly 8w1d like you.
Dallaslady I am so jelous of you ladies, I would love to have twins.
Kate Welcome!
QOTD we haven't bought anything yet, and I have the feeling we wont for a while. If it was for me I would be already looking at nurseries and strollers, but DH is a little less enthusiastic and he thinks it maybe back luck.
Sorry if I missed anyone, this thread moves way too fast for me.

thanks to everyone for the good thoughts I have been taking it easy for the past few days just to be safe. I was hoping that the dr would move my appt up but they didn't so i still have just under a month until i see the dr. and 2wks until my appt with the nurse. time seems to be standing still.
QOTD we have bought a stroller / carseat combo already. we fell in love with one style and then keith found it on sale so he bought it. we have been looking at other stuff but we have decided not to buy anymore until we hear the heartbeat.

Babywish I have heard that old wives tale also. Bad m/s means girl. I totally blow a hole in that theory. The way I feel now is exactly how I felt with my DS. And my cousin was pg with her DD and never once had one day of m/s. I guess it's just the way your body deals with hcg. Obviously mine can't handle it.:o
We haven't bought anything for the new baby. Even if we wanted to we really don't have the funds just yet. I'm sure once Spring rolls around I'll get to buying some things.

Good Morning Everyone! It sounds like everyone is doing well.
Dotsie - Congrats on the negative CF test!
Aletheia - Wow! Maybe seeing the heartbeat will bring this home for me too! It still seems like nothing is going on and I don’t really feel pg.
MSH - m/s at work is my biggest fear too. I don't want to be outed before I am ready, and I think that will be at least another month. I hope you feel better soon.
Camdynlyn - Seems like you are feeling better now. I'm so glad the Zofran helped.
dionysia - I haven't bought anything for dc yet. I am afraid I will be in the baby section and someone I know will see me, and I'm not ready to tell. I am going out of town the next couple of weekends, so I might pick up some maternity clothes (even though I don't need them yet) and some baby gear.
DallasLady - How exciting you get to see the baby soon and congrats on the betas! So are you prepared for a double?
octoberkate - Welcome to our thread and congrats on your bfp. I am really worried about that preggo brain I keep hearing about. I am forgetful anyways. I already warned dh that being pg can make you forgetful. He is thrilled about that.
Foofie357 – I’m right there with you and octoberkate and due at the end of the month, so we can all stick together. It is fun seeing what to expect from all the girls that are ahead of us.
babywish - I have to pick up a couple of books too. I was definitely going to get 'What to Expect when to Expecting', and maybe I will pick up 'Your Pregnancy Week by Week' since you like it so much. Have fun with DH!
________________
So I told my mom and sister last night. They are so excited! I got my mom to come over after work to go on a walk. As she was putting on her shoes DH noticed that she had on these really funky socks and DH said, "Those look like grandma socks". He had to say it a couple times and then she said "Well I'm ready to be a grandma” and then I said "Well you will be in 9 months". She didn't get it right away and looked at me weird and said "Are you pregnant?" It was so funny and so classic my mom. She is a very smart woman but at times can be a little slow.
As far as symptoms, I basically am not having any right now. I was having what felt like period cramps all week, but they are gone. The one thing I am glad about is that I have been having fairly bad acne since I came off the pill. So far, my skin has been so much better. I hope that continues throughout the pregnancy and then I will go back on the pill after I have the baby. It sucks having grey hair and acne and wrinkles at the same time:confused: . It’s just not fair!
Have a great day everyone!

Ok, I'm back and feeling a wee bit sheepish for getting my dates screwed up. I can't believe it took someone else (an LJ friend actually) to point out I probably had it wrong! October would be a slightly better month for me to have a baby, work wise, but really, who cares.
Ok, stats:
CC Name: Octoberkate
Me: Kate, 30
DH: Rich, 39
Married: October 13, 2002
TTC: This was our first cycle
BFP: January 18, 2006
EDD: September 27, 2006
Gender Prediction: No Clue
Any other children: DS Alex - April 5, 2004
So - what's new in my world? I've got my first doctor's appointment set up for next Friday. Well, it's with the nurse practitioner, not the doc. I'm pretty sure all they do at this appointment is a blood draw, weigh in, medical history etc. I'm sure they'll give me a presciption for prentals but until then I'm just taking the Target brand which should be fine.
I have two big concerns with this pregnancy. First, I'm worried about keeping up with my son. He's such a ball of energy that that is normally very difficult. Last pregnancy I had nearly debilitating morning sickness. I mean I threw up four and five times a day every day through the first and most of the second trimester. I'm really praying that doesn't happen again this time.
Second, I'm worried about my weight. I'm not a slender person to begin with and I'm starting about 15 pounds higher than I was with Alex. Back then the doc asked me to keep the weight gain to a minimum - instead I gained 42 pounds. Also, Alex was a big baby, he weighed nine pounds although before he was born they thought he weighed 10 pounds. Because of that I was induced which I'd like to avoid this time.
So my main goal this pregnancy is to keep my weight down and to really eat healthy.
As to telling people, we haven't told anyone yet. I'm a little nervous about telling my parents. They are great grandparents and love my son to death. However, I think they have some misconceptions about our maturity. Well, to be more precise, they have a hard time not seeing me as their "little girl" and I think they will be worried about how we can afford a second child. Frankly, I'm a little worried - daycare is freaking expensive - but we'll find a way. I'd like to wait until my sister is back in town, but that's not for another five or six weeks. We'll see if I can manage to wait that long. When we do tell them we're going to have our little boy tell them - either he'll wear a shirt that says "I'm the Big Brother" or he'll just tell them "big brother Alex."
Re: buying stuff: since this is our second child, we don't have too many "basics" that we need to buy. This baby will be the opposite season so, even if they are the same gender we'll need some new clothes, but other than that, there's not much we need right now. Well, scratch that. We've only got one car. I think sometime before this baby is born we'll need to buy a second car. It's just hard enough when you've only got one child and yourselves to transport. Plus I'd like something a little bigger so that when we have two carseats we can still have a third adult passenger. So if/when we get a second car we'll need a second big carseat for my son and a second base to the "bucket" seat for the baby. Oh yeah, and we'll need to get a big boy bed for Alex since we'll be needing his crib.
Re: books - I really enjoyed Your Pregnancy Week by Week (I think that was the title, if not it was something similar by a different author) and The Girlfriends Guide to Pregnancy. The first one was informative and the second just downright funny. I personally got a little freaked out by What to Expect When You're Expecting. I know a lot of people really liked it and that it is a great information resource. For me, however, because it talks about everything that could go wrong (so as to give advice to the people who might have that problem, even if it is a very seldom occurring problem) I sort of fixated on that stuff and I kept thinking that every perfectly normal twinge was something freaky scary, when it wasn't.
Thanks for the warm welcome everyone, I look forward to sharing this journey with you!

DallasLady Great numbers! That would be so cool to have two sets of twins in our little cyber community (MSH that other set it yours girl! ;) ) How do the docs determine if there are twins? Is it by heartbeat or u/s and when can they find out?
Aletheia When does DH come home? Soon, right? I'm so happy for you! My DH is leaving Sunday for a cross country interview. He'll only be gone 4 days, in which time I won't feel guilty about becoming a human vegetable!
OctoberKate Congratulations and welcome!!! Wow, I can't believe we are almost into October due dates already. Anyone else get the feeling that the next 8-9 mos are gonna fly by?
babywish Boy, I'm with you on the coffee. It seems like some cruel punishment that pg woman can't have coffee (or wine!). I, personally, have decided to keep drinking it, but only one cup per day (and a small one at that). I'll talk to the doc about it, hopefully he won't make me give it up (I'm sure pleading on my part will be involved :D )
Foofie glad your feeling good, too! I have just started noticing that my nipples are getting sore (my dh swears my boobs look bigger, but I think its just wishful thinking!) But other than that, I feel great. I really want my blood test results to make it feel more real to me...
Thank goodess its FRIDAY!!! What a looong week this has been. Really looking forward to sleeping in tomorrow.
Well, I might break down and tell my mom this weekend. I feel like a lot of people know already. I told my lab manager yesturday (because of safety concerns) but that made me feel like I should tell my mom. So we'll see if I can stay strong or not...
Happy Friday, ladies!
Oh, QOTD We haven't bought a thing. One reason is that there is a big possibility we will be moving during the summer and don't want to purchase big items, another reason is that this will be the first grandchild on DH's side and I know they will be buying alot!

Fly by post - I caught the crud from my kiddos. I slept around 20 hours yesterday. Feeling a little better today. MIL is still here! Thank god I slept 20 hours otherwise I would have gone crazy. Lauryn is doing much better today but Kaylea was sent home from school because she is sick.
Kate - WOO HOO! Glad you officially joined!
betas - Ya'll are starting to freak me out! MSH and DallasLady had great betas and talking twins! My beta's at 14dpo was 2811. Seems high to me! I have an u/s in one week so I guess we will see!
Time for my nap! I will try to do a better reply later.

Hey ladies... I'm so bored at work today. It's one of those days where, since it's slow, I should really catch up on filing or cleaning out my email inbox, or reading the five zillion FYI things my boss sends me... but instead I just want to play online!
And the worst thing, is that there isn't even anything I feel like looking for online so I just keep checking my oh-so-empty yahoo mailbox. Sigh, I should be greatful - work was so crazy last month and likely will be next month. It's just that when it's slow it's S-L-O-W.
Anyone have any good QOTD ideas?

Kate OMG I know exactly what you are talking about, I am at home now (I work very close from home), came for lunch 1hour and 30 min. a go, I know I really need to get going but I dont feel like it! I just want to go to bed. The worse thing is that I know I will go to the office and I am going to fall asleep is so boring today! I was actually looking at crib beddings, but I guess that doesnt make much sense until we find out the sex, there are some cute unisex ones but I know for sure I will be finding out.
got to run to the office... or make an attempt to it :D

cjones15, I didn't know your numbers were so high at 14dpo!! MMMPPPHH...maybe we will have THREE sets of twins in our forum!! ;)
There's nothing much to report here. Today has been a not-so-good day for me. Yesterday I came down with one of my bad sinus headaches that I can't seem to get rid of. I can't take my usual STRONG sinus prescription medicine so I am having a hard time dealing. I have been ready to go home since the moment I first sat down in my chair at work this morning! Just 2 more hours!!!!

First SO's then an update on my appt:
Numberlady-I didn't know you were close also! I am jealous of the people ahead of us-lets get the ball moving. We three can stick together and bring up the caboose.
Babywish-looking at crib bedding is not a waste of time, it's good to know the options available...I hope you are on the east coast, as the work day is almost over.
OctoberKate-Almost done work! We are not too far from each other. I live in PA and I am about an hour from DC. I am trying to think of a good QOTD, but none are coming.
Cjones-Glad you are feeling better!
So, my appointment went just how I though-dissapointment. Weight, BP, "tell me a little about your history". And then the Beta debate. She rattled off questions like..how do you know about betas, why do you want one? I am just wondering what it matters to her. Anyway, I successfully left there with two lab slips but she told me not to go until Monday. I feel like going tomorrow to be defiant.:) Two people asked me if I actually took a pregnancy test...yes..were they positive? Hello? Do I look like I have esp? I just somehow 'knew'.
Oh, and she didn't even give me an EDD, all she said was end of September!
Still really no symptoms. I was a bit gaggy last night, but that's about it.
I have the same concerns as some of you mentioned. I am heavier than I want to be and I went into this pregnancy 15 pounds more than with my first. So, I am doing my best to eat and exercise. I gained 50 pounds with my first, so I definately don't want to repeat that.
I'm gonna try my hand at a few SOs here. Work has been very slow today and I just cannot stay awake any longer if I don't find something to do.
Foofie your DR/NP? sounds like a real treat. I say take your BETAs whenever you want :) Glad to hear m/s is not getting to you yet. I personally hope to be one of the lucky ones who has a m/s-free PGcy.
craftgenius sorry to hear about your headache. I had a fairly mild one today also. I hope you get rid of it soon. Do you normally get them frequently or is it only once in a while.
Just 2 more hours!!!!
I hear you on this one. I am counting the seconds. I just want to get home and nap :)
babywish glad to hear I am not the only one wanting to go to bed. I do not feel like doing anything for the rest of the day.
octoberkate sounds like our days have been pretty similar. I really should have done something about my filing cabinet but I figure it will still be here on Monday :)
cjones Good to hear you are feeling better today. Wow 20 hours, now that is a little long even for me. Your BETAs were definatly high. If it helps any my OBs offfice did not mention anything about multiples and I honestly think there is only the one. However, it would be fun to have some twin mommas in here.
batgirl so you really think we will be twin mommas? I honestly wouldn't mind as I have always dreamt about it, just thought I would start with one. I guess we will see at the u/s. At the u/s they can tell if there are 2 sacs. I don't think they will be able to hear the heartbeats till later on.
numberlady I love your moms reaction. I am so glad both your mom and sister were excited for you. As far as symptoms mine are very few also, I don't think I will really clue in till I can feel the kicking.
.... Woohoo finally time to go home from work!!

Cindy - I'm glad you're starting to feel better... at least I hope you're starting to feel better! And I'm glad to hear Lauryn is on the mend.
Foofie and NumberLady - Yay! I'm glad I'm not alone at the end of the month! I remember last time it was a little frustrating for some of the mom's at the end of my group because they were always a little behind in the cool things - feeling kicks, having the "big" ultrasound to determine gender, actually having the baby. So I'm glad that we're all around the same time so we'll have some company.
MSH - the filing will DEFINITELY still be here on Monday. If I'm true to my natural procrastinator form, I won't get my files and stuff straightened up until the new baby is about ready to arrive.
Foofie - we'll have to cheer each other on in trying to eat healthier this go round. I actually did lose almost all my babyweight last time... but then when I came back to work I ended up sitting on my butt all day, not moving around, stopping at the co-workers candy jar, and having a hard time finding the time and energy to cook healthy at home. I've managed to conquer some of those things in recent months (the candy jar is banished, I try to go to the craptastic building gym on my lunch hour 2-3 times a week) but the eating healthy thing is still a struggle with me. Let's hope I can do better this time.
Craftgenius - good luck with the headache... I hope your work day is almost over!
Nikki - I just wanted to say how happy I am to be in this thread with you. I was a frequent lurker in your WC journal maybe two+ years ago. You have always impressed me as a very strong and positive woman, with a great outlook, very strong faith, and generous spirit.
Di - I wanted to let you know how much I'm looking forward to getting to know you better. I have always enjoyed reading your thoughts in Kris's (lolavix) LJ, but it'll be nice to get to know you on your own as well.

MSH, yes, I have chronic sinus problems. I have a deviated septum and nasal polyps. So my frontal sinuses don't drain very well, resulting in some serious sinus pressure. Normally I take Allegra-D. The headache has eased up some thank goodness. Hope it doesn't come back anytime soon!! :)

Good Morning September Momma's!
So its Saturday morning at 5:00 and I am awake because I slept terribly last night. Plus I have the second day of our strategic planning meeting all day today. I have to be there at 7:00 UGH! I am so jealous of you ladies that get bored at work. My job is so crazy. I typically work about 50-55 hours per week and could probably work 10 more and still not be caught up. At our meeting yesterday I just got more work thrown at me. I think that's why I couldn't sleep. I kept thinking about the additional work and the pregnancy (that no one at work know about yet) and trying to figure out how to it will all get done. I think I might ask my boss to allow a change in status of my part time assistant to full time. I will see how the rest of the meeting goes. After my meeting today, I hope DH will go with me to the bookstore to pick up some books. I was going to go last night, but didn’t get home until almost 8 and was way too tired.
cjones - I hope you feel better soon!
craftgenius - Glad your headache is a little better. I have had a mild headache all week. Not sure if it is a pg symptom, or just from lack of sleep or what.
Foofie & octoberkate - OK, not only are we bringing up the rear of this thread, but it sounds like we all need to watch what we eat and try to gain only a "healthy" weight:rolleyes:

Sorry for my absence. I'm still really sick. 4 hours at ER on Monday. Damn Dr. didn't do a thing - just told me to take more Diclectin (the M/S meds). He put me off work til Thursday. I was so miserable. I went to work on Thurs. Just about died - literally. I called my GP crying and they were kind enough to fit me in. He took one look at me, and called the OB. He said she really needed to see me immediately - couldn't wait until my Feb. 10 appt. So, she saw me Friday morning. I love love love this OB. I wish she wasn't leaving in March. ANyway, she prescribed gravol, and thyamine, along with the diclectin. Sent me for a ton of bloodwork (thyroid, liver, kidneys, etc), and has scheduled an U/S for Feb 1st.
She has diagnosed me with Hyperemesis Gravadirium (SP?).
She contemplated admitting me, but she said I would probably end up feeling fine while on the IV, but would get sick again once I went home. Anyway, I still feel miserable, but at least someone is trying to help me.
She has me off work until Jan. 30th. Thank God I have 50+ sick days banked.
This will definately be my last child. I'm to the point where, if I were to miscarry (God forbid), I would not want another pregnancy. I've told DH to have a vasectomy when he is ready, and he fully understands where I'm coming from. This is taking a physical and emotional toll on me that I simply cannot describe.
Sorry for no s/outs, but I'm barely able to sit here and type this. Just wanted to check in.

Good morning all! Welcome to the new September moms!
I think the last QOTD was about what we have bought? (I was away for a few days on business - just catching up.) We haven't bought anything. I don't want to do that until after we have the CVS done. I would feel like I was jinxing things.
My "morning sickness" is getting a little worse. I'm still not puking, but most afternoons, I go through a very queasy period. I'm now getting it around wake up time as well. I'm still dealing with the exhaustion too. Yesterday I got back from my business trip, went to dinner with DH, came home and was asleep at 8:30. Except for a couple of late night bathroom trips, I slept through until 7:30. I'll be starting twice weekly night meetings soon. I think I'm going to have to start napping to make it through them!
Sorry for no shout-outs - just too many to catch up on.

Dawny - I'm so sorry your are having such a rough time. I've been there before. With my last pregnancy I was hospitalized 6 times by the time I was 10 weeks. I swear it gets better!! Zofran is what helped me the most. IV fluid really do make you feel better. Also, having anti-nausea drugs in the IV helped much faster and I was able to start keeping food down.

Aletheia- Quick question. I know you said that when you had your u/s you were measuring a few days off like i am. Are you using the 8/30 as your DD or the date that the baby was measuring? Does that make any sense?
My LMP was 11/23 and i know we had the same due date. The baby was measuring 6 days smaller which meant i probably O'd a few days later. Which dd are you using? I'm so confused and I don't see the Dr to ask until 2/3!
Thanks!
Dawny- hang in there girl! I had the same thing with my DS- it will get better!
Aletheia
01-21-2006, 05:00 PM
goldeng- Actually, my u/s showed my count was more accurate than the LMP count the midwife wanted to use. I would use the u/s-- taken this early, it's really quite precise at pinpointing how big your babe is, and thus how old it is.
Think of it this way: now you have 6 more days to prepare before baby arrives!

I wish. DS was early and I have a feeling this one will be too. We'll see! Thanks for the reply. I go for my nurse visit this week and my Drs next week and they'll do another u/s then so we'll see what the Dr says. Either way, it doesn't bother me but my good friend works in a high rish OB/gyn and i was talking to her about it and she said to ALWAYS go by you LMP.
Hope everyone is having a great weekend. I'm sleeping in extra late tomorrow morning! I cant wait!

I'm completely shocked and thrilled to be joining the September Mamas! DH and I were all set to start fertility drugs next cycle, we just kept waiting for AF to show up. When she was 4 days late and I had been having cramps all week, I thought I should use up that final test I had from a previous month. I was just laughing and crying when that second line came up so quickly! We haven't told anyone yet and are enjoying our little secret for the time being. I think we'll tell our parents fairly soon though.
Looking forward to the next 9 months with everyone!
Welcome katmg I hope you have 9 H&H months. It is always nice to have one more in our little group.
QOTD I know many of us are already doing this but I thought it would be a good idea to post our week/day count in the subject line. It makes it easier to figure out where everyone is in their PGcy. Yes/No?

Hi girls. I've been out of town for most of the weekend and with my sickness earlier this week and dog bite later this week, it's been hectic around here.
Congrats to all the new mommies and welcome!! :)
Crystal: I'm so sorry and I am thinking of you. Please update us.

Nothing new in my world. Still bloated and having nausea. I'm taking my Zofran and feeling better. I still can't eat full meals but I eat more meals per day. I try to snack on healthy things and so far, I'm doing good. I'm still down about 3 pounds from my normal weight since my sickness (I did gain 4 back though).

katmg - Welcome!!!!
QOTD - I think it's a great idea and try to do it buy I always forget! Maybe it's prego brain or just forgetful me!!
camdynlyn - Glad to hear you are feeling a little better. Zofran is the best! I lived on it for 9 months last time!
Things have been blah around here. I've been cramping since yesterday. I was spotting some yesterday but it was old stuff so I'm not that worried (that much!). M/S started yesterday. I started back on zofran. I had some left from Lauryn and it is good for another year still. I will have to call my doc for a refill tomorrow. I might mention the cramping to them if I call. Everyone around here is finally getting well. It finally rained here after months of no rain!! Better get off of here and make the kids some dinner.
ETA - I just said it was a good idea to put week/day and I still didn't do it!!!! I don't think there is hope for me! Anyway I'm 6 wk 2 days

PS-- Tomorrow is 8 weeks for me! It's been 4 weeks exactly (tomorrow) since I found out I was PG!!

Crystal I'm so so sorry for your loss. I'll be thinking of you. Take care of yourself.
Day 1 of no vomiting. I feel like I'm almost human today. Don't want to say too much about it, don't want to jinx it. The Thiamine seems to be the thing helping. I was reading about Thiamine deficiency, and it seems probable that it is my main problem right not. We will see what tomorrow brings.

Dawny - I'm sorry you are having a rough time. Hopefully the meds will kick in and you will start to feel human again.
Crystal_Orchid - You are in my prayers. Sorry you are going through this. Please let us know if there is anything we can do.
Katmg - Welcome to the thread. You can bring up the rear of the thread with me and a couple others.
Camdynlyn - Glad you are feeling better!
I had a DUH moment yesterday and realized that the mild headache I had all last week was probably from caffeine withdrawal. I don't drink a lot of caffeine, but usually have a cup of coffee in the morning and a diet soft drink at lunch. Since I found out I was pg, I have switched to mostly decaf coffee and no soft drink. I am still having some light cramping and see my nurse practitioner on Weds for the "official" results and a referral to an OB.

Not much happening here. A bit queasy from time to time. Pretty tired by the end of the day. That's about it. We're telling this week. I still can't believe it's true, so it's hard for me to believe we'll be telling people. I made DS a shirt, and we'll email a photo of him in it to my family. We'll be able to tell the ILs in person. Day 2 of no vomiting (so far). And, more importantly, I'm actually feeling pretty good today - have a bit of energy, etc.
I seriously cannot believe that a vitamin (Thiamine, B1) is making me feel this good. And, even more depressing is that the only people who get thiamine deficiency these days live in third world countries. I'm like seriously malnourished. But then again, I was only 95 lbs when I found out I was pg, so I didn't have much in the reserves to help me once I started to get sick.
Anyway, I'm praying that this is my turning point! Maybe soon I'll actually feel happy and excited to be Pg, instead of praying for it to be over.

HAve any of you ever noticed the random ads that are attached to this thread? At the bottom of my screen I see four ads - one for kids school uniforms, one for kids Seven Jeans, one for mens thongs and I forget what the fourth one is... probably because I'm so stuck on the idea of Mens Thongs. Very random assortment of ads, I wonder who they think they're marketing to?
Anyhoo, we had a pretty rough weekend. I'm still feeling pretty good (knocking furiously on wood) but my son was pretty sick and my DH was out of town. There was lots of pukiness involved but I don't know what was wrong. He was sick, then fine, sick, then fine, then sick but it all lasted maybe 15 hours and when it was over he was acting like normal and eating like normal. Strange.
As regards this pregnancy, I have determined that the baby likes some Indian food, but does NOT LIKE garlic kulcha. We won't be eating that again.
I'm also trying hard to relish sleeping on my tummy. I love sleeping on my tummy and I know that I'll miss it in a few more months.
Dawny - I totally forgot that this was your user name over here... I think you told me before too. Anyhoo, thanks for the reminder that I do, indeed, already know you! I'm glad to hear that the thiamin is working for you. What foods contain thiamin? Because based on how miserable you were, I think I'd like to try to eat them to make sure the same doesn't happen to me!
Dotsie - are you going to see your OB about an anti-naseau drug? You sound pretty miserable - that's how I was last time and it was just awful feeling like that. I hope the m/s eases up and leaves you alone soon.
Katmg - welcome! I'm also due 9/27 so I'm glad to have someone else bring up the rear of the thread with me!
Adams Pi - how did you make your ds's shirt? I think we'd like to tell our family in the same way, but I'm feeling creatively challenged...
Cjones - Cindy, I'm glad to hear that the girls are starting to feel better and that you had some Zofran left. I hope it works its magic and that you can get a refill from your Doc!

Hi to everyone else.
I am still hear, exhausted but other than that doing okay. Chugging chocolate milk like there is no tomorrow. The theory is that you crave what your body is in need of, so I guess I need more calcium. 1 week until my first appointment. Haven't made babysitting arrangements yet. It is a tough one since we aren't telling anyone yet. I can't lie to my Mom about where I am going so I might have to ask MIL (ugh), I have no porblem misleading her.

Hi everyone!
Welcome, katmg!!
Dawny- Wow, all because of a vitamin? That is whacky!! I'm so glad to hear you've had some respite from the ickiness. Now Dotsie needs to figure out how to get to the golden island of no-puking.
Summer- Welcome back, and I hope you continue to feel better.
batgirl- Hooray for busy days! They make time go by faster, and that's exactly what I want right now. I'll see DH on Thursday night... the first time since the 3rd! I can't wait.
octoberkate- Yikes! As if risking your own pukiness isn't enough, to have family sick... yucko.
Adam'sPi- Good luck telling!! We'll be telling our parents this weekend, and I am so excited... I am worn out from all the lies of omission I've told my mom over the past two months. It will be such a mental, and maybe even physical relief to tell her! I want her support so much!
Just like Dawny, I don't want to jinx it, but I do want to casually report that the greeness for me seems to be subsiding. I didn't wake up until 11 a.m. today (ah, the life of the student!) and hadn't eaten anything since midnight except for occassional sips of grape juice through the night, and I feel fine! Even great! I ate a bowl of fruit loops! If this continues, I hope to get out for a jog or two this weekend. I'm tired of feeling like part of my mattress. It's like there is super-glue in there.
QOTD: How has your partner/DH been about the PG? Do you think it is "real" for him yet? Do you feel you are getting the support you need?
As for me, DH is itching to come home and see the u/s picture and say hello to our "spark" (that's my answer to an old QOTD, by the way.) It's been really hard on both of us (and I need to remember that!) for him to be away during these difficult weeks. He wants to be here to support me, but he can't. I'm looking forward to getting lots of attention and pampering upon his return!
I am feeling just horrible today. However, I really cannot blame it on m/s. This is all in my head. I have a mild form of anxeity and ever since I fould out I was PG I have been convincing myself I have the worst m/s in the history of all PG women. Problem is, it just ain't so. Really my m/s is very mild and very manageable. Really as long as I keep my stomach full and don't subject myself to too many horrible smells I am fine. However, I am so terrified and cought up in the thought that I will get sick at work. This is my worst nightmare. This morning I woke up at 5:30 am and it was all I could think of. I made myself feel so horrible thinking about it I had to stay home an extra hour this morning to get myself together before I could go to work. DH doesn't understand and I really cannot blame him ... it really is nuts.
I really need to find a way to control this or I will go mental. Anyways, at 11 am and I got around to eating the breakfast, which would have solved the problem to begin with.
I will be back with S/O's later, gotta get some work done today :)

QOTD: How has your partner/DH been about the PG? Do you think it is "real" for him yet? Do you feel you are getting the support you need?
I'm amazed at how excited DH has been. I really thought he'd be very laid back about the whole thing. After I took my digital test yesterday morning at 6 am and it came back 'Pregnant' he's been so excited! He started reading his 'Expectant Father' book last night and kept running into the office to ask me questions about what it said. He's all into what nutrition I need right now and how much water I need to drink, etc. Plus, he wants to tell our parents asap b/c he doesn't think he can hold it in any longer. Last night neither one of us could fall asleep b/c we were so nervous/excited, etc. It was like Christmas Eve and waiting to open presents the next day - except that we're going to have to wait a lot longer to open this present!

Sorry, no time for replies but I hope all of you ladies feeling terrible feel human again soon.
My nausea has been pretty constant lately. No matter what I do, I basically feel sick all day long. Its worse at night before bed for me and in the middle of the night I wake up to it as well. I have only actually thrown up only a couple of times so I know I am lucky but I hate feeling nauseaous all the time. I can't wait until my next appointment. I just want to make sure I am measuring where I should be and I want to see the baby again :) Only a week from Wednesday!
QOTD My DH has been really great about us being pregnant and I think it is sinking in a little more everyday :) It took us awhile to get pregnant so I know that my DH is very excited and really feels blessed. He lets me complain about feeling sick and what not.

Well for the first week after I got the BFPs it definitely wasn't "real" for DH. Now he can't help himself though. It's finally sunk in and it's definitely real. Now we're just hoping and praying (like all pregnant couples) that this baby will be healthy. He's definitely supportive though.

Fast flyby since I'm at work and the hawks are watching. I go to the doc tomorrow at 9:30 for an u/s. I've had cramping and some minor spotting. The doc is at an office out of town today so I go in at 9:30 in the morning. The receptionist made me feel bad and jumped me I didn't go to the ER or call the on-call nurse. The spotting is very minimal and is "old" stuff so I'm really not worried much.
I will try to do so's later.

crystal i'm so sorry, i've been there, it sucks.
qotd since this is our 2nd, it's probably more real for dh than the first, since he realizes what's really in there :p so far, he's much more supportive. since i was so sick last time, he really had to do everything -- cleaning, grocery shopping, laundry, etc. it took a while for him to accept that, but this time he's jumping right in and he did so much this past weekend.
well it looks like i need to find a new mw/ob. i was looking forward to using the midwives/hospital that i used with my dd, but i need a referral from a gp in their network and i can only get into that network during the month of november, so i'm screwed, i hate insurance companies  i don't even know where to start, i'm meeting with an ob this week and a couple of midwives, our big decision right now is to decide if we want a home birth or not and that's a big decision that i wasn't planning on making.
is anyone paying cash for their zofran my insurance will pay for 9 pills a month (same as last time). i used to break them in half, but this time i'm thinking we may just buy them and i was wondering if the price was the same (they were $40. a pill iirc).

Sorry I have been MIA, but DH came back Saturday morning and I have just been enjoying his company J. Things around here are pretty much the same; I am very excited about tomorrow's drs visit I hope is not a let down! It seems, especially after reading Aletha's post, that things will come much more real. Part of me is still wondering if I am really pg or not ... and it definitely has nothing to do with the lack of symptoms! (More on that later). I think once I see the little one I will be less nervous (even though I will probably worry about other things).
Is anyone else feeling as if she can only eat what looks appetizing?? And specially SMELLS appetizing. Friday night I really wanted to have Thai, but I thought I wait for DH and we could go out on Saturday night, well DH didn't really feel like going out after the long trip (I really don't blame him) so we decided to cook at home. We love trying new stuff, so we decided to give Thai a try, we made pot stickers and Pad Thai... well he was the sue chef and I was the chef so at the beginning everything was fine. As soon as I started mixing all the sauces, I just couldn't bear the smell! The recipe called for 'fish sauce', let me tell you that was the most disgusting thing I have ever smelled. As I was cooking it I had the worse nausea, by the time we sat down to eat I couldn't even put a full scoop in my mouth, so it all ended on the garbage disposal because I couldn't take the smell anymore :D.
So that is my story, nausea is still kicking my butt (it is actually pretty bad today) but I am still one of the lucky ones as I am not throwing up yet. Other than that we had a pretty laid back weekend, the weather was awful here in ATL so we just stayed in most of the weekend. I started 'Girlfriends Guide to Pregnancy' and I am loving it! It is really funny which is nice to read after reading 'What to Expect when Expecting' I think I am going to put that one aside for a bit, all those ifs are really making me nervous and that is NOT what I need right now.
QOTDWell, DH is as excited as I could expect. He is defintley NOT a very enthusiastic person, specially when changes are involved. He was very upset the last three months we were TTCing and I got my period, but now I think he is just feeling all the pressure of having a family and all that, but he will come along I know. For our wedding he was exactly the same and he was so happy the day of and he always says how much fun he had. I think once he sees the u/s tomorrow things will change, little by little...is just going to take him some time to get used to the idea.
I am really sorry for those I miss, this thread just moves way too fast!
Welcome LMC and Katmg, H&H 9 months to you two!
Dawny I am keeping my fingers crossed I hope m/s stays away!
Crystal I am very sorry you are going through this, please know we will keep you in our prayers.
MSH I think the whole thing is a great idea... I have been doing it since the beggining but I like seeing how far everybody else is too!
Numberlady Well, I got to admit that I am also having headaches and I am pretty sure they are from the lack of caffeine, they are getting better though so I guess that is a good thing :p.
One more day for my Drs. app.!!

Bleagh. I ate too much for lunch. I took a quick break from my desk and went to the cafeteria to eat and read. I ordered the same size lunch I always get (grilled turkey burger, small salad) and just wasn't paying attention while I was eating. By the time I was done I felt ok. Five minutes later, not so much. I'm not nauseous (yet, knock on wood) but boy do I feel overful and yucky. Like Thanksgiving gone terribly terribly wrong.
Di and katmg - have fun with the spreadsheets! My husband is the spreadsheet creator in our house. Which is funny because I'm the planner. I just make text lists of things we need and when we need them. Then after I buy things he adds it up to the "How Much Does Alex Cost" spreadsheet and freaks me out by pointing out how much money I spend, without even realizing it. I think I'd like your spreadsheets much better!
Welcome marathongirl (Sue) and LMC (damn I forgot your real name and it's too far back to see in the posts below my reply... sorry about that!)
QOTD - DH Support/"getting it" - well, he hasn't had much time to let it sink in yet, I told him Thursday morning, Thursday night was crazy busy, Friday I left for work before he woke up and then he left for the weekend. That said, he's made enough comments that I definitely think it's sinking in. Like someone else said, I think part of that is helped along by the fact that this is our second go-round. He knows what is likely to happen and how it will likely affect him. He asks how "we're" doing, but other than that hasn't done much of anything extra-special yet. Of course, knocking on wood, I haven't needed any special attention yet....
I've got some big issues to figure out over the course of this pregnancy. Stuff like what rooms will we put Alex and new baby in (our house has a weird layout) and whether we'll need a second car (we do alright with one for now, but sometimes there are problems, I see the need for a second). Ideally I'd like to move out of our house AND get a second car. That, however, is a crack dream.
Originally we said this would be our "3-5 year" house. Well, it will have been three years in August and, although I'd like to move, with the specter of double daycare costs in the future, I don't know about the feasability of that. My DH is going to be SO not happy when I bring up the potential of moving... he still hasn't finished renovating our basement. Maybe I'll be struck with a better way to fit everyone into our house...

Kate- I hope everything works out with the house. I know exactly what you mean, we moved when Andrew was around7 months because our last house was way too small.
Di- Beautiful crib!
Hello to everyone else! I'm still feeling pretty good. Very very tired but good. No nausea yet but I've been a little lightheaded at times.
QOTD- Since this is also our 2nd baby DH is very excited. Its a little different this time around because now we know what to expect but we're still thrilled!
Good luck to everyone who has appointments this week! My nurse visit is thursday.

Babywish-I feel the same way. It definately has to look good/smell good for me to eat it. If I don't like the way it looks, it's not going to go down. I just refuse. Glad your DH is home! Good luck tomorrow.
Dionysia-Nice crib. I have always liked the sleigh sides like that. Why I didn't buy one like that for my DS, well I don't know. And we are hoping he is in a big boy bed by the time this one arrives, so it looks like I won't be buying it. Oh well!
dana b- Home birth, huh? If I wasn't such a chicken I would consider that...
cjones16-Sorry to hear about the cramping. Last pregnancy, I had a little cramping and pinkish blood one morning, followed by old blood. I hope your little one is ok!
Aletheia and Dawny-I am glad you are feeling better.
octoberkate-I hope your son is feeling better soon.
QOTD-We had a long talk about being supportive through this pregnancy and what that means to each of us, and I *think* we are on the same page now. This one is definately more "real"-pregnant equals real baby.
I did go in on saturday for my first of two betas. I went in this morning before work for my second. I called to get the results from saturdays, and she said it was over 400(16 dpo), so I am anxious to hear todays result. I hope hope hope it doubles. I am hoping 400 is a good number for 16dpo. I can't remember what my numbers were with DS, I wish I wrote them down. Ugh! I know they were higher though.
I am just baffled that I have no symptoms. I get a little more tired, and I get a little sick if I don't eat when I get hungry. I am huge though, I look like I am six months pregnant. I am hoping it's bloating. I am expecting any moment to throw up and begin spotting.
I hope those that are feeling so bad, will feel better soon!

I finally feel like I can join in now! I got my BFP last week, after not even knowing I was pg since December. Apparently my last "af" was really just implantation bleeding, quite a case study!
Anyway, I saw my ob/gyn last week and he did an u/s to determine how far along I was, and after not finding a heartbeat and measuring incorrectly, he assumed I was farther along than I really was, and he thought I might m/c.
I just had another u/s this morning, and it turns out that he was wrong. I'm measuring 6w5d today, and we saw the heartbeat this morning! Not to mention that my hCG shot up to 14,000 last week. We're so much happier with this news.

Welcome, Susan! Wow; that must have been a tense wait between appointments for you. But I'm still jealous that you got to speed through the first weeks of your pregnancy without even thinking about it! I think you make Mommy 35... WOW!
Dawny- Oh, my heart aches for you. And you too, Dotsie-- I had my first completely non-nauseas day today, and I was shocked to find how excited I became about being pregnant all over again. It is *amazingly* hard to remember that it is good news when you feel ill all. the. time. I don't blame you for a moment for just wishing it would stop. I would try (easy for me to say) to keep taking the B1-- maybe your body just needs to get to a point where it knows it can rely on it coming in... I hope so.
Di- I can't believe you already bought a crib!! You are so on top of it! And I thought I was getting somewhere when I went out today to buy a binder and tabs to organize pregnancy and baby information!
All of this talk about spreadsheets has me salivating. Maybe those of you who had baby-related spreadsheets made up from last time can share with us new mamas? Or those new mamas who are on the ball can give the rest of us a planning boost? So here we go:
[donning Threadmistress hat]

BOOKS
I bought the Nilsson book "A Child is Born" tonight at the local used bookstore-- amazing in utero pictures of fetuses at different stages of development. I can't wait to look at it tonight. I also bought a tiny book about using ASL to sign with your baby (can you say "jumping the gun"?) and a book about exercises to do before and after baby arrives. Who wants to read graduate course assignments with those options in front of you?? :D

Dawny & Dotsie - I'm sorry you are both so ill! Was it the same with your first pregnancies?
I'm still feeling fine (sorry - that's not a dig at those of you who aren't). Just super-tired. With DD, I had a great pregnancy so I'm hoping for the same again. Labor and delivery were both fast too. So fast she was almost born at the mall  . It's the post-partum I'm worried about. I had pretty bad PPD and was on zoloft for 6 months. Hope everyone's doing well! I'll get better with SO's, i promise!;)

Good morning! Welcome to the newbies and Dawny I'm so sorry to hear about how you're feeling.:( I agree that once that baby's in your arms this will all seem so worth it!
I think I finally have been getting some pg symptoms. I've noticed after having going shopping all day or working all day I come home and can just crash on the couch in no time flat. DH loves this because this means he can watch the sports without feeling guilty because I'm sleeping.:p Also I've finally felt bloated the past couple of days. Even though I didn't have many pg symptoms with our first pg either, it still starts to freak me out a little so these little symptoms are very welcome. Even when I did get m/s in the 2nd trimester with our first, it wasn't bad at all and I definitely could handle it.
The other symptom I've been having are vivid dreams. Normally I only get those when AF is here (must be hormone related). But right before I got the BFPs and right through till now I have very vivid and odd dreams where I remember them when I get up. They're so strange and colorful.

Thanks for the warm welcome, ladies!
I've been dead on my feet, too. I feel like I spend all day yawning or just waiting for the time when I can get home and take it easy.
M/s has been bothering me off and on, some foods will just really turn me off (could not even look at some dip that DH offered me last night), but I can't seem to get enough of others. (It's been cereal for me lately. Yum.)
I've found that when I've got a little food in me, I feel a lot better, so I keep a box of crackers in my desk drawer to munch on throughout the day. It totally goes against all dieting instincts that I used to care about!

Hey ladies!
Welcome SuieJ! I'm trying to remember where I recognize you from... maybe laura's (lollylu) LJ? Regardless, Congratulations and welcome!
And Chris (deliciousjones) - Congratulations! I didn't realize you were in this thread. I always enjoy reading your posts and seeing your pictures in Jana's journal. BTW, my entire family loved the pictures in Jana's Xmas card - they were gorgeous!
As to me, well, I'm sick. It's not m/s, it's just a nasty cold. My temp got up a little over 102 last night, so I took some tylenol. I've been tired, but it's hard to tell if it's tired from the cold or the pregnancy. I'm home from work today - my fever is down but I've still got a nasty cough and sore throat. I'm hoping that if I rest a bit then I can kick this cold faster. That plus I'm so far behind in cleaning things, and I need to wrap and mail a present and other stuff like that so maybe I'll get a little of that done...
And if I want to get any of that done I should probably get off the computer huh...

WOO HOO! I finally got through to my doctor's office this morning and made an appt. I go next Tuesday afternoon. This is way earlier than I thought b/c the nurse told me they wait until 8-10 weeks but the appt. lady said 6-8 weeks, so I took it! They don't do an ultrasound at this appt. and probably won't until it's time to find out the sex/do measurements, etc. Looks like I'll be one of those ladies with just one ultrasound. :( Boo!
Threadmistress: I have an appt. 01/31. Thank you!
Has anyone else been having trouble sleeping? I feel like I toss and turn all night.

oof, i'm in a quandry. i'm so sick. i'm lightheaded when i stand up and i haven't been keeping anything down. i have a short business trip on thursday and friday and i'm very freaked out about flying there and back considering how sick i am.
i dont NEED to go on the trip. in the past, i've participated by conference call. this time, my director asked if i wanted to come along since its in a fun city, and i said SURE! (before i knew i was pregnant)
also, my ob wants repeat betas drawn on thursday morning but the lab isn't open before my flight leaves.
so i'd like to stay back but i don't know what to tell my director. any suggestions?

Cindy, that's fabulous news! Congratulations!
delicious- Oh dear, that is a quandry. If it were me, I'd probably say that you feel like you are coming down with something-- call it a stomach bug :D -- and that you don't think you'd make a good travel companion. But I HATE traveling when I feel ill, and so I would go to any length to be able to back out. If you have nerves of steel or are highly motivated to go, I would: get serious about trying to control the m/s-- try the B vitamins, try eating a cracker or some juice every 2 to 3 hours throughout the night, get a prescription, learn some accupressure points, etc... and try to sit on the aisle while on the plane??
It's so hard to plan *anything* so far for me-- I can't even plan on what I'm having for dinner the day of when I feel hardly nauseas at all, because it can return in no time flat. UGH. For a plan-a-holic, this is not fun.
katmg- Congrats on your early appt! As for the u/s, I'm only supposed to get one, but that's the big one with the specially trained technician and all the rest. My midwife actually does one "free" at the 8 week appointment to make sure the baby is in the right place and is viable (has a hb). So who knows... you may get a look yet!
di- I'll see that snore and raise you two wheat things and a sip of water.

Threadmistressing isn't too hard... esp. if you have a co-tm. Just let someone know if you want to get the little pumpkins' thread roling! :D

Well I had my appointment and we saw the heartbeat, it was just unbelievable! At the beginning I was getting upset because I couldn’t see anything but then my doctor pointed it out to me... I think I am in love :o. I completely agree with Aletheia as to how much more real it seems now, it has been a while since I took any pg test, which means that it has been three weeks since the last line I saw. Even though I had symptoms it just feels so different now that we have seen the little one.
Dr. told me I am measuring a little bit behind of what I thought my new due date is 9/05 This time I am also changing the count (see title, originally I would have put 8w1d), going forward if they change it again I am not changing my count back... to confusing otherwise .
I scheduled my next appointment for 2/21, since I am close to 35 (I am actually 33) he recommended I get done what he called 'nuchal translucency screening, my appointment for that is 2/24. It is basically an early test to detect Down Syndrome, it is safe for the baby and basically if that comes back normal there is no need to do the amnio, actually this test is not as accurate as the amnio (85% success rate) but that was his recommendation and I am going with it!.
He answer many questions and I just have to say that I love him, I am so glad this is happening now and not a while back when I was still looking for a doctor that I liked.
I got to get something for dinner, but I wanted to leave you with a picture of the love of my life... isn't he/she the cutest?

Dotsie-I hope the new medication is working for you. This may be TMI, but I have used them before(not during pregnancy) and I would do anything for them while I am sick(throwing up). They work so well, eventhough, they are gross to administer.
marathongirl-Glad to hear you are feeling good so far. I was taking Zoloft shortly before this pregnancy mostly for anxiety but some sadness too. I hope this pregnancy is as easy as the last, and the afterwards is easier too!
Octoberkate-Oh, feel better soon!
Deliciousjones-Personally, I wouldn't go. Have you decided anything? Thanks for posting that HCG chart, very helpful.
cjones15-Congratulations! I have been thinking about you all day. I am so glad you came back with great news!
pickle-You are welcome to lurk anytime. Great username...I could go for some pickles....
dionysia-You are hungry, huh? I remember last pregnancy, I carried around a 'food bag'. I had lots of options in there and everyone thought I was crazy. But when I got hungry, I better eat something then. I don't have to time to go out and buy something I want. I am hungry right now, darnnit.
Well, as for me. I am beat today. I could NOT get out of bed. My DS woke up real early and I just couldn't go get him. Eventually I struggled thru the day, but I can't wait to go to bed.
And I got my second beta back at 1400(18dpo), so I am tickled pink with that! I feel like celebrating with a nap:D

Morning ladies! Boy, I'm really behind in this thread!
Babywish What an awesome post! Your little baby is gorgeous!
SuieJ Welcome to our little community! Here's to a H&H 9 mos!
Dawny and Dotsie I'm so sorry about your m/s. It looks like the drs are keeping a close eye on you guys. Sure hope they find something that works for you.
Octoberkate So sorry to hear about your cold. Its bad enough to have to deal with the nausea, fatigue, etc of pregnancy, but to throw a cold with fever in there too. Hang in there (and don't over do it with the cleaning).
Dionysia Your crib is beautiful! You are so on the ball!
deliciousjones I agree with Aletheia. If your not feeling up to it, tell them your coming down with something. No one is going to make you fly if you have the "stomach flu." Also, if it is a "fun city" would people question it if you declined alcohol? Good luck!
cjones I'm so excited that you heard the heartbeat! I have been wondering if I'll hear it when I have my u/s on the 14th, I sure hope so!
katmg nothing has sounded good to me either. Funny this is that I will force myself to eat something and then can't stop eating it!
And pickle Congrats! Feel free to lurk away!
QOTD I had my phone appointment with the nurse yesturday. Only questions I had were 1. should I continue taking my calcium supplement (yes), 2. I had 4 glasses of wine over the new years weekend (her respons, "you and everyone else. Don't worry." and 3. I asked about the acrylamide spill in the lab. She gave me a phone number for preg woman that answers all questions regarding chemicals (chemicals in shampoo, lotion, toxins, anything). If anyone is interested I can post the phone number or web address.
Oh, Aletheia thanks for posting the "moving while pregnant" thread in "pregnancy." Dh and I have been trying to decide to move with me either waay pregnant or just after the baby arrives. After reading the posts, I think it looks easier to do it pregnant (and that way I won't have to lift anything ;) )! Ours will probably be a cross-country move as well. Hey, is your DH back yet!

I had my first bout of actual M/S this morning. Meaning, more so than feeling queasy, if you know what I mean. :( Luckily, my tummy was empty.
Still eating like a horse, still tired. I have a stash of food in my desk here at work. Pregnancy Drops are totally saving my ass here at work, in terms of when I get nauseated. I highly recommend them.
I'm going to have to bring part of said stash to our off-site company meeting this afternoon, so I don't pass out during the middle of it. I'm sure people will be suspicious. That and the fact that my Cape Codders will be Virgin Cape Codders!
My first pre-natal appointment is less than a week away. I also have scheduled a tour of the hospital's birthing center for 2/5. DH is not coming with me (he's gaming  ), but he used to work at the hospital so he's seen the center before. At least he's coming to the first pre-natal appt.
Old QOTD: DH is excited, though scared. He's gotten better though and is now actually reading "Baby Bargains." :D

Di - Sorry about the m/s. :( I've been reading Baby Bargains at night while DH reads the Expectant Father. The BB book is a bit overwhelming, but taking it a section at a time has been good. Hi ladies, just wanted to come check in on everyone. I am still nauseous, still tired and getting fatter by the minute :( I told my DH last night that I am afraid to get weighed at our appointment next week. I am scared I gained alot of weight :( and my Dr. made it clear that they only want you to gain from 0-3 pounds in the 1st trimester.
My best girlfriend just broke off her engagement w/ her fiancee because she found out he cheated on her. I feel so terrible for her! I want to do something nice for her, but I don't know what! I just feel so helpless right now because I wish I could make her feel better.
Hope everyone is feeling better.

That cracks me up! I remember feeling that same way when I was PG with my DD, and now I'm itching to run out and get some because I don't wear anything but pajama pants in the house and I want something different for when I leave the house! :p I just can't believe I've outgrown regular pants already. I guess it is true what they say, each time you get pregnant, you show that much sooner! LOL ;)

Today is the 9 week mark! Woo hoo! Even better: as I type this, DH is boarding the plane in Denver that will bring him back to me! I won't get to see him until tomorrow night, since I'll still be in House #2 (where I go to school half of every week) but I get to see him in little more than 24 hours and I am THRILLED!!
babywish- Congrats on a beautiful u/s! It's just the most amazing thing, isn't it? Putting the logic together that that little image is INSIDE you? Whacky.
batgirl- Yup, I was heartened by the responses to the "Moving While PG" thread too. It gives me hope! It looks like we'll be moving from Maryland to Portland, OR... quite a ways. But at least the baby is already "packed" and won't get "unpacked" (with a little luck) until we have settled into a little Portland bungalow. They are DARLING.
So I have a book recommendation! I highly recommend getting your hands on a color copy of Lennart Nilsson's A Child is Born. It's not the typical pregnancy book-- the reason it is so cool is because it has tons of photos of developing embryos and fetuses... in the womb! They are really moving and beautiful to me, but I guess I like knowing what my parasite (starving again right now) looks like. It's got some 'graphic' photos of actual births which you may not want to look at right before bed, but there is something real cool about seeing a high resolution, in color photo of an 8 week old fetus. I know my med student DH is going to love it.
Here's the Amazon photo:

Hey Di, this may sound silly, but what are Pregnancy Drops, and where do I get them? I've been munching so many saltines at work people are bound to notice... always looking for something else to combat nausea!Pregnancy Drops are made by the same people who make Pregnancy Pops; ok they're officially called "Preggie Pop Drops." They're hard 'candies' in various flavors like sour raspberry, sour lemon, and sour tangerine. They're made from sugar, citric acid, corn syrup, natural flavors (oils of raspberry, tangerine, & lemon), & natural colors (red cabbage, turmeric, & annato).
A friend of mine bought them for me in a maternity store, possibly Motherhood.
THEY ROCK.

suiej sorry, can't help... I don't know what those are! They look like pressure point thingies???

Suie - I got those last pregnancy and they didn't make any difference for me. That said, the only two other pregnant women I know who tried them swore that they worked miracles. For me the only thing that worked miracles was laying down and pretending I was dead. Or eating crackers with peanut butter.
Di - have you ever tried the raspberry, lemon, or orange drops that Altoids makes? I wonder if they work as well as the pregnancy drops... because me mom gave me a multipack of them at Christmas and I haven't had any of them yet. It might be worthwhile to keep them on hand.
Alethia - woo hoo for your DH being on the way home! I hope he doesn't have any (or many) more long trips in the near future. LOVE the book recomendation btw. I haven't seen it IRL, but I've had a few other people mention it to me before - it really seems to be a different kind of resource and particularly good for people who are especially science inclined.
Judy - don't stress too much about the weight gain (says the lady who gained twice what her doctor recommended last time so maybe I'm not a good spokesperson). You have to eat well to nourish the baby, often you have to eat to keep the nausea away. As long as you try to make good food choices it's not that big a deal (unless you've got some other medical condition that makes weight gain especially bad). I mean, putting on five pounds due to lots of protein, milk, and fruits and veggies is VERY different from putting on five pounds due to McDonalds, ice cream, and chocolate. So as long as you are making healthy food choices that is really what is the most important, not the number that you see.
katmg - too funny. Just last night I pulled out my leggings for the first time. Granted, it's because I was feeling sick and whiny and I just wanted something cozy for around the house that wasn't quite as sloppy as my sweats, but still. I'm a lawyer so I don't think I'll be wearing those leggings to work! But if you live near an outlet mall Motherhood Maternity has a bunch of outlets where you might find some good pants. And Old Navy has some nice work appropriate clothes that won't break the bank. Personally, I'm hoping that with our biggest months in the summer, when it's more casual dress at work anyway, that I can get away with more comfy casual clothes than last time when my big months were in the winter... of course, that means I need all new clothes, but oh well.
Foofie - great numbers!
Babywish - great u/s! I'm so glad that you're happy and comfortable with your doc - it really helps, with any doctor, to feel confident in their advice and their ability to help you.
------------------
As to me, I'm back at work today. I haven't had a fever since Monday night so I'm hoping I'm not contagious anymore (the daycare rule is that you have to be out at least 24 hours after a fever - I'm applying that to my office too). I still have a nasty cough that is starting to make my ribs and chest hurt I'm coughing so hard and so often. But other than that I'm ok.
My son woke up last night around 11:15. When he still hadn't gone back to sleep by 12:45 I told DH he had to get up with him. I get up at 6:30 (DH gets up at 8:30) and between pregnancy and sickness I was so tired I just wanted to roll over and die - I just kept thinking about how little time I had until I had to get up. Thank God DH did get up - it turns out that Alex didn't fall back asleep until 3:15. Not cool.
He better get back on schedule in the next 8-9 months, otherwise I'm going to go nuts when the new baby arrives.

Aletheia - DH and I moved up to Portland (West Linn) from SoCal just over three months ago and really like it up here. Portland seems to be *the* place to be right now. :)
-----------------------
It's been a pretty bad week here and eating every hour, which is what I need to do to keep the nausea away, hasn't been easy.
We had to put one of our dogs to sleep this weekend. Her illness came on so suddenly and we're still in shock over it. DH and I just don't feel like doing anything. And having to deal with this while not feeling well to begin with has simply been miserable. :(

larslobster so sorry about your dog :(
congrats curlygurl i just adore your house btw.
is anyone else trying the unisom and b6 for ms? i went back to my old midwives yesterday for some advice on my situation and she said they now recommend taking the unisom and b6 first before trying anything else, she said it usually works better than zofran and it's safer since it's a class a drug (zofran is a b). so i'm pretty excited to be able to try this now and not have to pay $800. a month for zofran. although i haven't even had the slightest bit of ms yet.
the good news is that i found an ob/hospital that came highly recommended by several midwives, so i we won't be going with a homebirth (i was way too chicken for that anyways :o ). so happy to get that taken care of.

larslobster- I havent posted in a few days but i wanted to offer my support. We are also preparing to have our female Shar pei put down this coming Friday. We're devestated. She was our first dog, we rescued her from LA 4 years ago. She is the love of our lives. I'm sorry to hear about your dog. I'm trying to be strong but everytime I look at her i cry hysterically. I can say the hurt does get better. We cried all day over the weekend but each day, we cry a little less and are able to think about the cute things she did without sobbing every time. I think time IS the only thing that will make things better.
Hugs to you as well.

Ok, ok. I watched "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy" the other day and they were redoing the lodge of "The Order of the Moose"-- some volunteer organization for a bunch of (mainly) old men. Did I cry?
Yes.
So hearing about these doggies and what you two are dealing with (and Dawny not so long ago, right?) has got me seriously puddled up. Our kitty is FIV positive, and was supposed to die years ago, according to his first vet. I'm really worried that the trip across the country will do him in, and baby coming or no baby, good god I love that cat. So hugs to goldeng and larslobster- that really, really sucks. :(
Bounding straight away from one emotion to the next (wooiee! It's like emotional roulette over here today!) this from octoberkate made me laugh right out loud, here in my quiet cold little room:
For me the only thing that worked miracles was laying down and pretending I was dead. Or eating crackers with peanut butter.
Yes, that sounds much like the last two weeks of my life. But much funnier, somehow. Wryly funny.
Portland- Just to caution you all, it's not a sure thing. I'd be thrilled to live there (okay that's a little strong given the cloudiness)-- but we won't know until March 16th at 1 p.m.-- Match Day. lobster, if I do move there, will you be my friend? :o
Welcome curlygurl! How exciting for you! I'm so glad it wasn't harder. Welcome alliesmomma! You must have a toddler-- and that is why you are a woman of few words? If not, I will begin to call you alliesmomma, Lady of Mystery.
Ok. I've GOT to get some work done tonight, and how can I do that when I still need to spend another half hour checking various threads on CC to see what I've missed?

I'm so sorry I've been MIA! Aletheia, I promise to take back over my duties!!!
I've had some rough days. I've still had morning sickness, I had to do my first enema (TMI) because I had not 'gone' in over a week. I was miserable. I feel much better now, though.
Then, I found out yesterday that my grandparents house burned down so we've been dealing with that. I've not even been on CC in a couple of days. I hope you will all forgive me.
I do want to say that after talking wtih my doctor, we've come to the conclusion that Zofran was the cause of all my 'backup.' Soo, make sure if you are taking this, please take some type of fiber tablets. I just started taking Benefiber. :)
I had horrible morning sickness this morning but after being sick, I felt 400% better!! I'm hoping for this to pass soon.
With all this bloating, my body changes all the time. Last week, when I was down 7 pounds from the virus, I was the tiniest I'd been in a while. Now, back to my bloating. Oh, and I retired my first pair of pants.

alliesmomma03 - nice to see I'm not the only one waiting to join. ;) Welcome.
dana b - thanks for the compliment. I'm still in love with my house too!
goldenbridge - so sorry to here about your dog. :( so heartbreaking. you'll also be in my thoughts.
Aletheia - Thanks for the warm welcome. :D
I'm going to try and catch up on QOTD's - if they still make sense:
When did you suspect, pre-test, that you were PG?
I'm always very regular, 27 day cycle - like clockwork, so when I was late I suspected - but didn't get a chance to test until 2 days later. Plus my boobs felt huge.
You know they say you get clumsy and all that, are you experiencing any of those symptoms yet? Not clumsy, you have to actually have energy to move. I've been so exhausted.
Has anybody had sex since finding out? No.
Will you find out the sex and will you disclose baby names to people? We are definitely going to find out the sex. Actually, we may splurge and find out super early with this test (http://babygendermentor.com/default.php). Since we'll probably won't be able to keep this to ourselves, we are definitely keeping the name our secret until the birth. We have a couple ideas for girls and none for boys (which should guarantee that we're having a boy.)
Have you started thinking about any aspects of parenting for after the baby arrives? (Breastfeeding, Formula Feeding, Co-Sleeping, Cloth Diapering, etc?) I'm going to try BF. Don't think we'll co-sleep since we have a split king adjustable bed and I'd be afraid she's get hurt. CD - I don't think so.
Work - what do you and DH do? How does everyone handle getting sick at work? I'm a software programmer and my husband is a Real Estate Developer/Builder. Thankfully, I work from home - so there isn't really anyone to see if I were actually sick. Thankfully, I have no M/S whatsoever - but that afternoon nap is becoming necessary part of my day.
Good Dreams = girl, Bad Dreams = Boy? I've been having pretty good dreams so seems like this predictor says GIRL.
QOTD have you told your parents or your in-laws yet and what # grandchild will this be for them? My dad and MIL both passed way last year. My FIL passed away befire I met DH, so my mom is the only grandparent left - and I'm telling her tomorrow. It will be her 5th grandchild. My brother has 4 boys - so we're kind of hoping for a GIRL. On my DH side - he has one niece who's 30 and she's dying to finally have a cousin. This baby will be very special and probably very spoiled.
what is your nickname for the baby I've been calling the baby - Q, as in curly-Q. Both my DH and I have curly hair, so I'm sure our little one will to. ;)
Bought anything for the baby? No, but I've already gotten two bears from my good friends. ;)
How has your partner/DH been about the PG? Do you think it is "real" for him yet? Do you feel you are getting the support you need?
He is so excited. He is totally supportive and such an emotional help to me. He didn't initially believe since my first BFP was so faint. He made me go out and get several more HPT then next morning - all which were very clearly positive.
What questions are you asking/did you ask at your first ob appointment? Today's appointment was with the Nurse, so we're going to go into detail about all the pre-natal testing/screening. We have some serious things to keep an eye on. In addition to being 40, my husband has Muscular Dystrophy - which we need to test for ASAP. We prepare ourselves for what may be very difficult decisions ahead of us.
Whew - that was a monster post.

I can barely keep up with this thread, we have so many momma's with us and adding new ones by the day! I love it!
Welcome to LyLMyssChaos, marathongirl, SuieJ, pickle, curlygirl, and alliesmomma03. I hope you all a H & H 9 months.
For all of you with m/s I feel so bad for you. I have been lucky so far (knock on wood) to not have any. My bb's though are another story. I was already outgrowing my DD bras before this, now I feel like I have had implants. They are getting so much bigger:eek:
katmg - are you still having cramps? I am so glad to hear that someone else is having them. I have convinced myself that something must be wrong because none of the books mention cramping and nobody else in this thread has complained of it.
dionysia - Your crib is beautiful. I love me some excel too! I am definitely interested if you get any spreadsheets from other moms.
dana b - You are very brave to try a home birth. My mom had my brother and I at home, but I think I am way to chicken (and will probably need some drugs).
larslobster & goldenbridge - sorry you had to go through that with your pets.
QOTD: How has your partner/DH been about the PG? Do you think it is "real" for him yet? Do you feel you are getting the support you need?
It is still not real for him yet, but he has been great and so supportive. I had my appt with my nurse practitioner and he went with me. I told him that it would be boring and probably not much would happen, but he insisted. He has also been making sure that I eat lots of fruits and vegetables. He has always done the cooking, but at times gets slack and doesn’t feel like cooking so we just fend for ourselves. Lately he is back in the swing of things so that I get my proper nutrients.
A couple of you have mentioned moving while pregnant. There is a slight possibility that DH and I will be considering that in the future (but not cross country). I have been in the interview process with a company for several months and finally am going for a site-interview this weekend. We will see how it goes. I think my price has gone up a lot since I started talking to them. I have such a support system where I am, and to move 4 hours away where I know no one is a big move. Not to mention that my family and friends would totally freak out.

numberlady - I'm definitely still experiencing cramps. I've read that cramping can be a common sign of pregnancy, especially at first. Plus, two of the moms that visit my journal had that as their first sign of pgncy! Mine doesn't feel like normal AF cramps - it's more of a pulling sensation. Feels like baby is trying to add on its own room in there!
DH and I are having some difficulty figuring out how to tell our parents. Both my parents and his mom live in town, so we wanted to have them all over for dinner. Well....DH's mom is recently divorced and is dating...a lot. (Not that there's anything wrong with that.) When we asked her about dinner she wanted to bring the current boyfriend. I just feel like that would be awkward for everyone involved. Awkward for this new guy, awkward for me (Um, Hi, nice to meet you, I'm pregnant - do you want to be a grandpa?) Ew! So now we're trying to figure out how we can get his mom by herself. She SO does not take a hint. DH asked her if we could make this "just family" and she did not get it at all. Now, I just don't really care when we tell her - she's going to be kicking herself when she realizes why we wanted to get her alone.

Morning ladies,
Just wanted to welcome Curlygurl and alliesmomma. H&H 9 mos to you!
Camdylyn So sorry to hear about your grandparent's home. They are okay, right? I love your pic, btw. You look pregnant in it! Cool!
Numberlady I get some mild cramping, too. Mostly if I sneeze, or move suddenly. Goes away pretty quickly, though, so I'm not too worried about it.
Aletheia You cried during Queer Eye??? :D As far as your kitty, the vet can give you drugs so that she won't stress out too much on the move. I have three cats and they have successfully made a cross country move 2x now. I'm sure she'll be fine. You could always fly her (we stowed one of our cats under the seat on a plane once, he was fine and slept the whole time).
Nothing new here. I still feel pretty good. Only real symptoms are decreased stamina and slight nausea that comes and goes. I am counting my blessings!

Welcome lmc, marathon, curly & alliesmom-
kat- this had me cracking up!!!-(Um, Hi, nice to meet you, I'm pregnant - do you want to be a grandpa?) Ew! .
Wow! My kids were a little crazy yesterday & I didn't get in here at all...had 4 pages to catch up on.
Sorry so many of you are feeling crappy. I feel blessed to be doing okay. I am super thirsty right now, can not get enough liquids. I was that way with my dd & I had gestational diabetes (but not with my son) so I am praying it isn't an indicator of the same.
golden & lars- so sorry about your dogs, that is a horrible thing to deal with.
curly- we have a 3 1/2 year old golden too & she truly is a playmate to my kids. Could not ask for a better & more tolerant dog for them.
Okay off to get kids dressed, have a good day everyone.

I'm back - I was admitted to the hospital two days ago. THey had me on an iv, and I'm actually feeling much better. However, Ididn't sleep at all last night, so I'm tired and a bit off because of that.
Had an U/S. Baby was measuring at 8W4D! The heartbeat sounded lovely! :p So, everything is going well. now, I am off to get some sleep so I don't end up relapsing.

Hi - I can barely keep up with this thread!
Welcome to all the newcomers!
I'm sorry so many of you are still sick! Luckily I do not have m/s! I didn't with DD either. Honestly, a few symptoms would be nice - just for a little reassurance. I'm just tired, but that's probably for 16.5 months of not getting a good night's sleep  :( .
golden & lars - so sorry about your dogs! It's so hard to lose a pet.
dawny - yikes, the hospital?!?! I hope you're feeling better!
My poor DD has been sick! She NEVER throws up and Tuesday night she threw up twice between 1am-2am. So she got 3 PJ changes, 2 baths, we had to strip her bed, our bed, DH & I both needed clean PJs. It was a mess! Now she's just exploding diarreah :( . I'm just trying to keep her hydrated.
Hope all is well with everyone!

numberlady- Not a lot of time, but about the cramps-- I am not having them as consistenly any more, but I was really nervous about them in the beginning. They were really strong, sudden, take-my-breath-away-and-sit-me-down sorts of cramps. When I had my first appt, my midwife tried to feel my uterus and said, "oh... I can't. Your uterus is tipped towards the back. I bet you've been having some bad cramps, yes?" :D Apparently, the natural position of my uterus is not what baby wants, and so the strong cramps have been it moving into place.
To continue with this fascinating topic  two days ago I had a really bad day of sharp cramps, and now my two favorite pair of pants hardly button. So I guess there was some tilting forward.
So don't worry! They are probably "constructive" cramps-- baby is constructing his own little palace according to his likes!

Welcome to all the newbies! This thread moves so fast that is almost impossible to keep up with it. I try to login during the day at work (like now) but that is not always possible, and usually I am just able to lurk and not post. By the time I get home, and after being all day in front of the computer I don’t always feel like getting back on :( .
Anywhoo, I am back to reality after our first appointment, I forgot to mention that DH came with me and I forgot to mentioned to him that the first u/s was vaginal… where needless to say he did not expect that! He is so funny!, you should have seen his face, when we walked in and saw the 'thing' he was like... hmm what is that?, so I told hi (this is right before the doctor came in) and he was like 'ok, I was definitely NOT expecting this'. The poor guy was so shocked that I really don’t know that he will come back again. He asked me yesterday if it was very important to me that he came along to the appointments. I honestly would like him to come, BUT if it bothers him is not necessary. Needless to say my sister was very happy to hear that now she can come to the rest of appointments with me :) .
Btw as suspected he is getting used to the idea, when he saw the heartbeat he was like 'oh wow that is amazing'… I could have taped the whole appointment and play it again and again :D.
Touch on wood m/s is slowly disappearing, and I have to admit that mine wasn't as bad as some of you girls, so I got to be thankful for that! I also have a lot more energy (even though I still fall asleep at 9:00pm last night!) To my defense I have to say that I wake up at 5:00am to go to the gym so is not like if I am sleeping 10hrs a day. I actually thing the exhaustion was a combination of pregnancy and the fact that I am not drinking caffeine anymore… let me tell you, that was a hard to give up!.
Other than that things are going well around here, I still haven't said anything to anybody but I am thinking I am going to break the news next Friday to a couple of friends of mine (we are getting together for dinner), I just don’t know how I feel about one of them, because even though she is a very good friend of mine I don’t necessarily trust her 'secret keeping' qualities, so I guess I will have to play it by ear. As per work, well that is definitely not going to happen until the 12 week.
Well ladies, sorry no SOs today, I promise I will try to do them next time!

Welcome CurlyGurl and Alliesmom!
Dawny - get some good rest! I'm sure going to the hospital was scary, but it sounds like it was what you needed. I hope DH and DD give you some time to sleep and recuperate.
Camdynlyn - are your grandparents ok? That sounds so scary!
Mommy2ali&Will - uh oh, I hope the crazy thirst and gestational diabetes aren't necessarily linked. I was pretty close to the line for having GD last time (and I weigh more this time which makes you more likely to get it) and this time I'm MUCH thirstier than last time... Guess I'd better start working on the super healthy eating asap.
As for me, not much is new. I haven't had a fever since Monday night, but I just can't seem to shake this cough and now I've got the runny nose to end all runny noses.
I have to thank curlygurl for going back and answering all the QOTD's. I am planning on trying to catch up on the pages of the thread that I missed, just so I can get to know you better, and I had wanted to answer all the questions as well... Except I still haven't gotten around to FINDING all the questions. So I'll just use the handy template that Curly set up...
When did you suspect, pre-test, that you were PG?
I didn’t really think it was likely that I’d be pregnant, because we didn’t time things all that well… but then a few days pre-test I just thought “huh, I’m pregnant”. I guess maybe my body recognized it more than I expected it to.
You know they say you get clumsy and all that, are you experiencing any of those symptoms yet? Not particularly clumsy, but I’m definitely having some foggy memory moments (more than normal).
Has anybody had sex since finding out? No, but it’s more due to the fact that either DH has been out of town or I’ve been sick than any other reason.
Will you find out the sex and will you disclose baby names to people? We will definitely find out the sex – I don’t like surprises! Plus it it’s a boy I’ve got everything I need but if it’s a girl I don’t have any girl looking clothes… since Alex was so bald we made an effort to always dress him in blue so his gender wasn’t in question. I don’t even have gender neutral clothes. I will likely disclose the baby name to you all and in my LJ. Last time we wouldn’t tell anyone IRL (even though we got a ton of pressure) and I’m really glad. We told my parents the name as they were driving to the hospital to meet him and what was the first thing my mom said upon entering my hospital room? “Firstname is nice, but what’s up with middlename? Couldn’t you think of anything better?” Thanks mom. Way to be supportive.
Have you started thinking about any aspects of parenting for after the baby arrives? (Breastfeeding, Formula Feeding, Co-Sleeping, Cloth Diapering, etc?) I’m going to work hard to BF. Last time, due to Alex’s extreme jaundice and my very low milk production, he had to be fed a bottle when he was only a few days old (babies have to eat to get the blood stuff that causes jaundice out of their bodies). He was so lethargic from the jaundice that we had to hold ice cubes under his armpits to keep him awake to suck at the bottle – the boob was way too difficult for him in that state. After that, he never would nurse for more than a few minutes. I pumped milk for him for a year, but my supply was always low so we supplemented with formula. Exclusive pumping is a huge pain in the ass because it takes time on top of the time that you spend feeding your child and then there’s always lots of parts to wash. I really want to do all I can to avoid that this time. We won’t be co-sleeping, mostly because we like having a lot of fluffy sheets, blankets, and pillows and those are dangerous. We may, however, get a bedside co-sleeper thing, but that would be more because of space limitations in our house than anything else. I’ll definitely be using disposable diapers. I hate doing laundry and I hate walking the multiple flights of stairs to the machines, CD’ing would be too much of a pain for me to be happy with it.
Work - what do you and DH do? How does everyone handle getting sick at work? I’m technically a lawyer, but I work as a legislative analyst for the Medicare program. DH is a program analyst for the national science foundation. So far, I haven’t gotten sick at work (knock on wood). Last time though, was miserable. I was throwing up multiple times a day. Some “kind soul” at work left a pamphlet on the dangers of bulimia on my chair. Thanks lady (‘cause you know it was a girl). I’m fat, do I look bulimic? And why on earth would that be your first thought? This was 2.5 years ago and it STILL annoys me!
Good Dreams = girl, Bad Dreams = Boy? Not remembering any dreams yet.
QOTD have you told your parents or your in-laws yet and what # grandchild will this be for them? Haven’t told any of the family yet. This will be second grandchild for my parents and the third for my MIL. But since MIL’s first grandchild is 29 and the next one is my son, who isn’t quite two, it’s like my son and this new baby are starting over fresh for her.
what is your nickname for the baby None yet, but we’ll have to come up with something.
Bought anything for the baby? Nope – until we find out gender there’s nothing that needs to be bought.
What questions are you asking/did you ask at your first ob appointment? My first appt is tomorrow with the nurse practitioner. It’s just the general background into. I don’t really have any questions other than I’m going to ask them if they think this cold I’ve got is anything worse than a regular cold and to see if there is anything they recommend I take for the coughing and stuffy head.

When did you suspect, pre-test, that you were PG?
I think I knew right away, I was just in denial about it. My clothes weren't fitting, I was nauseaus and I was tired all the time.
You know they say you get clumsy and all that, are you experiencing any of those symptoms yet?
Not any more than normal! ;)
Has anybody had sex since finding out?
Yes, because it was nice to not have to worry about things. We look at it as a "free pass" for the next 6 months!;)
Will you find out the sex and will you disclose baby names to people?
We haven't decided yet. We originally decided that since we found out the sex of our other two kids and that we now have "one of each," that we wouldn't find out this time, but I'm not so sure we'll wait this time either. As far as telling people, we might hold off and keep it to ourselves, but chances are, if we find out, our DD will spill the beans! :p
Have you started thinking about any aspects of parenting for after the baby arrives? (Breastfeeding, Formula Feeding, Co-Sleeping, Cloth Diapering, etc?)
We tend to play things by ear. We have been more focused on what we are going to do with our other kids than what we will do with this one. I plan to breastfeed, but if that doesn't work, I'm okay with formula feeding as that is how it worked with my son. This baby will sleep in our room and if we are breastfeeding will most likely co-sleep. At least until our son is old enough to not be in the crib anymore.
Work - what do you and DH do? How does everyone handle getting sick at work?
I'm a stay at home mom, so it's okay to be nauseaus, it's just not the easiest to handle. DH works for a defense manufacturer, so he just goes to work and comes home. Our house has seemed to fall apart slightly lately though.
Good Dreams = girl, Bad Dreams = Boy?
I wouldn't call my dreams lately good or bad, more like weird.
QOTD have you told your parents or your in-laws yet and what # grandchild will this be for them?
My step-mom knows because she babysat for me while I went to the OB the other day, but other than that, we haven't told any parents. This will be grandchild #20 for my in-laws, and #4 for my parents, but they are only in contact with my 2.
what is your nickname for the baby
We don't have one yet because we really aren't talking about things a whole lot. For the most part we have just been spelling it out "B-A-B-Y" so that my DD doesn't know what we are talking about.
Bought anything for the baby?
Nope. And chances are, we won't buy much until the baby is born. We have tons of clothes, both boy and girl and we have all types of baby gear, so we'll hold off on buying anything until we see how little or big this baby is, and then we'll probably buy a few outfits for the baby.
What questions are you asking/did you ask at your first ob appointment? I didn't really have many questions, I just was concerned about the medications that I'm on and about my other medical conditions, so I am meeting with a perinatologist on 2/7, other than that it was just basically "yep, you are pregnant, and this is how far along you are."

Welcome, Curlygurl!!! Good to see you here!!
Altheia: I'll see your crying during Queer Eye and raise you a crying jag during the video for "Tonight Tonight" by the Smashing Pumpkins! :p
So, I'm 7w2d and the cat's out of the bag at work. At our company party last night, a co-worker who was more than halfway in the bag, sat down next to me and noticed I was drinking water. (I had 3 cran-gingerales earlier.) He asked me why I 'wasn't on the wine train' and before I finished my answer of 'I already had enough of other stuff' he blurted out 'you're pregnant!' loudly enough so that half the table heard. I told him it was supposed to be a secret and he began blubbering apologies.
So, rather than have him hear it from the rumor mill, I told my boss this morning. We literally had 5 minutes to chat, but I wanted to nip it in the bud. He's very excited for me. We'll chat more later I'm sure, especially since I'm going to be gone for the busiest time of the year, including our 401K audit (unless we do it earlier in the year) and Open Enrollment.
It's still early days, but I'm somewhat relieved that my boss knows now.

Oh honey I'm definitely obsessive. I'm also 35 lbs. overweight with a gut, stretchmarks from my last pg and a nice little scar from the C-section. Trust me-no bare belly picture from me is going to be pretty.:p I love the ones you guys are posting though. It's so neat to see the changes.
I did notice this morning though that some of the sweaters that fit me perfectly before now definitely have a slight bulge to them (I call it the bloated effect). And the pants that used to be almost too lose before now fit perfectly. Again-blaming it on the bloatedness.

Wow, this thread flies by. I went to the dr last night. THey put me on 2 different medications. They seem to be helping a lot. I only threw up once last night!!! I gained 1 lb so the dr was very pleased with that. I go back on 2/6 for a normal visit.
goldenbridge and larslobster ~ I'm so sorry about the loss of your pets. I sat here and cried while I read about them. I love my furbabies so much and I know your pain.
Dawny ~ I'm glad you're feeling a bit better. The 2nd trimester is right around the corner....
Aletheia ~ I'm too fat to take pics of myself. I'll leave the pic taking to you first time skinny mamma to be's :D
Camdynlyn ~ I'm sorry to hear about your grandparent's house. I hope they're o.k.
Sorry if I missed anyone.
When did you suspect, pre-test, that you were PG?
I started getting burning type cramps around 7dpo. That made me think I was implanting. 3 days later I got my BFP.
You know they say you get clumsy and all that, are you experiencing any of those symptoms yet?
I haven't felt any clumsiness yet.
Has anybody had sex since finding out?
No. With my last pg I had issues and wasn't able to have sex. My DH is now super paranoid and won't come near me in that way.
Will you find out the sex and will you disclose baby names to people?
We will find out the name and tell people the names we're thinking about.
Have you started thinking about any aspects of parenting for after the baby arrives? (Breastfeeding, Formula Feeding, Co-Sleeping, Cloth Diapering, etc?)
I am going to try and pump for the first couple of months and supplement with formula. I will use Pampers swadders. The baby will sleep in our room in the bassinett for the first couple of months, after that, in the nursery it will go.
Work - what do you and DH do? How does everyone handle getting sick at work?
Dh is a cop. I am a parttime systems analyst and a realtor. Everyone knows I'm pg and when I get sick I just high tail it to the bathroom.
[Good Dreams = girl, Bad Dreams = Boy?
I've been having weird dreams.....who knows.
QOTD have you told your parents or your in-laws yet and what # grandchild will this be for them?
We told our families and they are all thrilled.
For my mom this will be her 2nd grandchild. For my dad this will be his 4th (he was married before my mom and has a son with his first wife). For my inlaws this will be their 6th.
what is your nickname for the baby
Baby Mac
Bought anything for the baby?
No. We're super poor right now. Hopefully I will sell my quota of houses by the summer so we'll have extra cash to buy the few things we need.
What questions are you asking/did you ask at your first ob appointment
I didn't really ask anything. I already knew most of what I needed to do.

Hey ladies, just checking in.
I am still feeling nauseous and this may be TMI but this a.m. I woke up and used the restroom (had to pee;) ) and when I wiped I found 2 small spots of blood that looked bright pink almost like Koolaid! I freaked out :( DH and I haven't had sex since like Sunday so I knew it wasn't that. My aunt who is 5 months pregnant told me not to worry because it happend to her a couple of times in the first trimester. I guess I will call my Dr. only if it continues but I am hoping and praying that it doesn't. I do have my appointment on Wednesday so hopefully everything is ok.
As for the belly shots, I have taken some but I just haven't uploaded the photos onto my computer. I will try to do that soon.
Take Care everyone.

No belly shots for me quite yet...maybe later on when my pooch looks more like a baby! :p
MIL is driving me absolutely nuts. How on EARTH am I going to make it through this pregnancy with her??

01-26-2006, 12:00 PM
oh yeah, you won't see any belly shots from me either, you'd all think i belong in the may thread :p
aletheia i have a tilted uterus, too. i'd never heard that about the cramps, i've always had those really sharp cramps when i'm pg. not this time though, maybe my dd left my uterus where it's supposed to be ;) .
dawny glad you feel better after the iv. i never got iv fluids when i had ms with my dd. i know now the dehydration probably made the ms so much worse, i was sooo freaking thirsty and couldn't keep any fluids down.
When did you suspect, pre-test, that you were PG?
i didn't suspect at all, just took the test b/c we were trying.
You know they say you get clumsy and all that, are you experiencing any of those symptoms yet? i'm always clumsy, but it's worse now.
Has anybody had sex since finding out?
actually, no. i've been going to sleep earlier than dh now.
Will you find out the sex and will you disclose baby names to people? we'll definitely find out the sex and share that, but won't share the name at all.
Have you started thinking about any aspects of parenting for after the baby arrives? (Breastfeeding, Formula Feeding, Co-Sleeping, Cloth Diapering, etc?) we'll definitely breastfeed and co-sleep, we use disposable diapers.
Work - what do you and DH do? How does everyone handle getting sick at work? i'm a sahm and dh is an attorney. hopefully i won't be getting sick at work :p
Good Dreams = girl, Bad Dreams = Boy? i have crazy dreams, i can't remember if they're good or bad. i had lots of sex dreams when i was pg with dd
QOTD have you told your parents or your in-laws yet and what # grandchild will this be for them? we'll probably tell my parents this saturday, we'll tell dh's parents with the rest of the family next month. it'll be the 2nd granchild for my parents and the 5th for dh's parents.
what is your nickname for the baby nothing yet. i'll try not to get attached much until we hear a heartbeat.
What questions are you asking/did you ask at your first ob appointment?
hmm, i'll mostly ask him about the hospital. i'm a total freak about my baby staying with me the entire time and not being taken to a nursery. so i need to make sure they really do have total rooming-in.

When did you suspect, pre-test, that you were PG?
I wondered when I had some spotting about a week before my BFP. Since we had been told we would need fertility drugs to conceive though, I was surprised it happened without them.
You know they say you get clumsy and all that, are you experiencing any of those symptoms yet?
I haven't felt any clumsiness yet.
Has anybody had sex since finding out?
Um...yeah. :o DH and I were really, really happy that we were pregnant and needed some ahem, 'alone time' to bond about it.
Will you find out the sex and will you disclose baby names to people?
We will find out the sex and we will tell people that. I'm not sure if we'll tell people the name.
Have you started thinking about any aspects of parenting for after the baby arrives? (Breastfeeding, Formula Feeding, Co-Sleeping, Cloth Diapering, etc?)
I'm really committed to breasfeeding and I think I would be pretty upset if it didn't work out. I think we'll just see what happens with the other stuff. I do plan on buying a sling to do some baby-wearing.
Work - what do you and DH do? How does everyone handle getting sick at work?
DH is a business analyst for a large financial planning company. Naturally they're going through a big merger right now and he's having to work crazy hours and travel more than usual. I'm a commercial Interior Designer. I work for a large architecture/interior design firm. I haven't gotten sick at work yet - not sure how well that will go...
Good Dreams = girl, Bad Dreams = Boy?
I was having some good dreams at first and now I'm so tired I can't remember my dreams.
have you told your parents or your in-laws yet and what # grandchild will this be for them?
No we haven't and it is becoming a major pain in the butt trying to plan a dinner to tell them all. MIL is newly divorced and wants to include the current boyfriend in all plans. We're going to tell my parents Saturday night and haven't come up with a good time to tell DH's mom. It will be the first grandchild for everyone.
what is your nickname for the baby
Don't really have one right now. Sometimes I use Baby G.
Bought anything for the baby?
Other than a onesie that I used to tell DH, no.
What questions are you asking/did you ask at your first ob appointment
I don't know that's why I asked that question!

When did you suspect, pre-test, that you were PG?
AF was two days late so I tested. I was a little surprised because I didn't think we'd timed things right that month.:)
You know they say you get clumsy and all that, are you experiencing any of those symptoms yet?
Not yet. But DH keeps walking into the door to my office.
Has anybody had sex since finding out?
Nope. Haven't felt well enough to even think about it.
Will you find out the sex and will you disclose baby names to people?
We'll find out the sex but haven't discussed if we'll let people know the name.
Have you started thinking about any aspects of parenting for after the baby arrives? (Breastfeeding, Formula Feeding, Co-Sleeping, Cloth Diapering, etc?)
A few. I'll breastfeed but we're not sure about co-sleeping. I'm a VERY heavy sleeper and I worry about having a baby in the bed. We've talked about trying cloth diapers due to the environmental issues with disposable but convenience may get the best of us.
Work - what do you and DH do? How does everyone handle getting sick at work?
I'm a software engineer but I'm currently working from home which I am soooo thankful for right now. DH is an artist.
Good Dreams = girl, Bad Dreams = Boy?
No dreams. I generally don't remember my dreams.
have you told your parents or your in-laws yet and what # grandchild will this be for them?
Due to a m/c last summer, we won't be telling anyone this time around until the second trimester. It'll be the second grandchild for my parents and the first for DHs. He's the youngest of four kids, with the others all being in their late forties/early fifties and no one has had children. And until six months ago, we weren't planning on having them either. So, this is a HUGE deal for them.
what is your nickname for the baby
Mark Jr.
Bought anything for the baby?
Nope. I'm not going to buy anything until I know for sure this pregnancy is going to stick.
What questions are you asking/did you ask at your first ob appointment
None. Thanks to books and the internet, I'd already done all my research. :) But at my second, I will be asking about testing.

ocgatita Any more spotting? How are you doing?
-------------
When did you suspect, pre-test, that you were PG?
I was charting and my temp never dropped. I also started to feel very flushed, as I did with DS.
You know they say you get clumsy and all that, are you experiencing any of those symptoms yet?
Nope
Has anybody had sex since finding out?
Yup. We were celebrating.
Will you find out the sex and will you disclose baby names to people?
We're up in the air on this one. We found out DS gender (it was hard not too-he made it SO obvious) and told the name before we had him. We're considering not finding out, but I don't know if I can handle that.
Have you started thinking about any aspects of parenting for after the baby arrives? (Breastfeeding, Formula Feeding, Co-Sleeping, Cloth Diapering, etc?)
I BF'ed DS until a few days after my BFP--I'll definitely BF this baby too! I'm looking forward to it. We don't co-sleep, I'm too tossy & turny in bed. We CD, and will do the same for this baby too. Anyone who wants to chat about CD'ing or ask questions, PM me!
Work - what do you and DH do? How does everyone handle getting sick at work?
I teach 2 days a week at a local community college, so if DS is sick, I'm usually home anyways. If it is on a day I work, DH can usually stay home (he's an environmental engineer with a GREAT boss--very family friendly) and work from home.
Good Dreams = girl, Bad Dreams = Boy?
What about a little of both? Twins, one each!?!?
have you told your parents or your in-laws yet and what # grandchild will this be for them?
We told my parents on Wednesday and are telling the ILs TODAY! For both, DS and this baby are the only grandkids.
what is your nickname for the baby

Bought anything for the baby?
Not yet. Biding our time.
What questions are you asking/did you ask at your first ob appointment
I want her blessing to continue running and what I need to do for VBAC.

I guess somehow I missed some of the QOTDs because I don't remember readings some of those, here are the ones I was missing.
btw Aletheia I am definitely taking belly shots but there is no difference yet, I will post this week's regardless if I see a difference or not (I take them on Saturdays :))
When did you suspect, pre-test, that you were PG?
The day before I got BFP I thought it was weird how tired I was (even though I had just landed from a 9 hour flight), but wasn't 100% sure.
You know they say you get clumsy and all that, are you experiencing any of those symptoms yet?
Not more than usual.
Has anybody had sex since finding out?
Yup. So far our sex life has not been altered (at least not from pre-TCCing that is).
Will you find out the sex and will you disclose baby names to people?
We are definitely find out, not sure about sharing names though (I am sure I will post them here but IRL...) the last time we made a comment in front of FIL about names we liked he said something like 'can you guys think on better names for my grandchild?' ... no thank you I don't need everybody's opinion on that, whatever we like that is what we will name the baby.
Have you started thinking about any aspects of parenting for after the baby arrives? (Breastfeeding, Formula Feeding, Co-Sleeping, Cloth Diapering, etc?)
I definitely want to BF... we will see as per diapers disposable for us.
Work - what do you and DH do? How does everyone handle getting sick at work?
I work for a marketing research company, so far I have been luck enough not to gotten SICK, I have definitely gotten nauseous and felt tired but htat is about it. So far, I think, people only thinks I am weird :D.
Good Dreams = girl, Bad Dreams = Boy?
Had not thought about it until now, but I have had a couple of bad dreams lately.
DallasLady
01-26-2006, 03:18 PM
When did you suspect, pre-test, that you were PG?
Literally 3dpo, when I started feeling these weird crampy feelings in my uterus, as if my period was coming any minuite. But I knew it wasn't coming that early, so I figured I might be pregnant. I felt them every day from 3dpo-14dpo.
You know they say you get clumsy and all that, are you experiencing any of those symptoms yet?
No, just tired.
Has anybody had sex since finding out?
Only twice. I know everything says it's okay, but we've been scared
Will you find out the sex and will you disclose baby names to people?
We'll find out the sex and probably will tell the name to family members. Especially since if it's a boy we will be naming it after DH.
Have you started thinking about any aspects of parenting for after the baby arrives? (Breastfeeding, Formula Feeding, Co-Sleeping, Cloth Diapering, etc?)
Since I've had the baby bug since about 2002, I passed the time reading up on parenting styles. I will breatsfeed, I don't plan to co-sleep, but we'll see. I can see how it can be easier, but I am worried about starting a habit that will be hard to break. I go back and forth on cloth diapers. I'm a tree hugger and would hate to throw away so many diapers every day, but I am not sure if I want to deal with washing them either
Work - what do you and DH do? How does everyone handle getting sick at work?
I am a teacher. I haven't been sick yet, just tired. It makes the end of the day very hard (which is when I have my most challenging class period).
Good Dreams = girl, Bad Dreams = Boy?
No dreams one way or another.
Have you told your parents or your in-laws yet and what # grandchild will this be for them?
I wanted to wait until the 8 week sono, but DH was so excited that we have told everyone. I will be my parents first, and the 7th for my inlaws. But the other grandkids are his sisters, so it will be the first child to carry on the family name, which they are really excited about.
What is your nickname for the baby
Me- Bean; Tony- Junior
Bought anything for the baby?
I am embarrased at the amount of baby stuff I already own, stuff I bought before I was even pregnant. It's all room decor stuff, though.
What questions are you asking/did you ask at your first ob appointment
Haven't had it yet, it's on 2/9.

Anyone know the effectiveness of these?
http://www.sea-band.com/images/buy_open-plastic-box.jpg
I got a pair last night, and they seem to be helping a bit today. They're meant for motion sickness or sea sickness, and they helped me with sea sickness before, so I figured it couldn't hurt to try.
Domesticgoddess got these for her pregnancy (she was a teacher) and wore them and swore by them. She called them her 'Wonder Woman cuffs' since her kids didn't know she was PG at that time! :p

CapeCod - I am so sorry, you are in my thoughts.
When did you suspect, pre-test, that you were PG?
I suspected I was pregnant about a week after it happened becasue I am BF my DD and my milk suppy cut in half.
You know they say you get clumsy and all that, are you experiencing any of those symptoms yet?
I haven't felt any clumsiness yet.
Has anybody had sex since finding out?
No, not yet. That has a lot to do with the fact that we have an 8.5 month old though! :)
Will you find out the sex and will you disclose baby names to people?
We will find out the sex and we will tell people that. Not sure if we will tell them the name or not. We didn't get that many good reactions about our first DC's name, so I'd rather not go through that again.
Have you started thinking about any aspects of parenting for after the baby arrives? (Breastfeeding, Formula Feeding, Co-Sleeping, Cloth Diapering, etc?)
Well, I already have a DD that I am commited to BFing. The only problem is my milk production is about 1/4 of what it was pre-pregnancy. My hope it to get her to continue to BF throughout the pregnancy and then continue after the new baby is here. There is a great book "Adventures in Tandem Nursing" if anyone else is in the same predicament. Our DD was not into co-sleeping, though we tried. I believe we will try again with this DC. Cloth Diapering - well, we currenlty live in an apartment with no washer & dryer so that is not feasible at this time. We are committed to the AP style of parenting and have Dr. Sears as our ped.
Work - what do you and DH do? How does everyone handle getting sick at work?
I am the Director of Admin & Operations for an insurance brokerage firm. My husband is a pilot. We will be moving to Utah during my pregnancy so that I will be a SAHM by the time the baby arrives.
Good Dreams = girl, Bad Dreams = Boy?
I rarely dream. Or at least I rarely remember them .:)
Have you told your parents or your in-laws yet and what # grandchild will this be for them?
We just told my parents last night. We took DD over dressed in a shirt that says "I'm a Big Sister" and my dad read it right away. They were happy for us. I have told one other friend b/c I need someone to lament to about my declining milk supply. Most others we will wait to tell until we hear the heartbeat.
What is your nickname for the baby
Just baby.
Bought anything for the baby?
No, will probably wait to find out the sex, since we just had a baby we have all that we need.
What questions are you asking/did you ask at your first ob appointment
I go to a midwife, we will probably just weight me and try to find the hb at the first appointment, maybe draw blood?
Just wanted to add that I had a med-free birth if anyone is thinking about it - know that it can be done! :D I will be happy to be your cheerleader if you are interested in that type of birth.

Med-Free Birth - This is something I'm really interested in. I've done a bit of searching for info. on it but not much yet. Birth just seems really far away yet! My mother had to have a c-section with both me and my brother b/c of the shape of her pelvis so I'm hoping I didn't inherit her hips! I REALLY don't want a c-section.

Fhew. Sorry for missing everyone. Pregnancy brain must have set in.
I'm about out of my pants! :o I have jeans with a hair tie through the loop today! I also have on a maternity shirt because my boobs are getting big and with my tummy growing it's making my shirts ride up! I did get some cute shirts at Target for $4-7 on the Clearance rack, though. I also have to say, I look pretty darn cute today! ;)
I thought I was over my morning sickness today... but it just came on later in the day. I had it once I got to school and have felt sick off and on throughout the rest of the day. I really hope this passes soon.
QOTD: Are your pants getting tight? When do you think (or if you are an experienced momma, when did you) you will move to maternity clothes?
Right now, I just need something loose on my stomach. To sit hurts when I have pants that dig into my stomach! Maternity shirts are more comfy though. I think I need some transition outfits.

01-27-2006, 11:42 AM
My spotting did stop and I am almost hesitant to even call it that as it was just barely those 2 drops when I wiped.
My nausea still comes and goes but I have noticed that I am EXTREMELY tired lately. I mean I just feel like I am dragging myself thru everyday. It doesn't help that I am swamped at work and that I start school next week but oh well.
QOTD Summer, I am right there w/ you girl! My pants are getting super, super tight and I can only wear 3 of my jeans now and that is only because they are stretch and super low rise so my gut hangs out above them :o I told my DH that I think I need to go buy some maternity shirts as well or get some type of transition clothing because I have a feeling I will need to break out some bigger clothes sooner rather than later. I will have to check out Target this weekend, since Summer said she scored on some shirts from the clearance rack. I think that will help hold me over until I am in full blown maternity wear.

I am already in some maternity pants. They say you show faster after your first pg. I'm no skinny minny so I don't have any tight shirts. I still wear my sweaters and such. If I keep going at this rate I will probably be full time in maternity's within a month.

First off -
CapeCod04 - so sorry, take care of each other during this difficult time. you'll be in my thoughts.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Numberlady, I'm with you with the boob growth issue. It's getting ridiculous, huh?
katmg, that is so funny regarding your MIL and her boyfriend. I suggest that you guys say you have something serious to discuss (giving the implication of bad news), so she'll take the hint. ;) Won't she be shocked.
batgirl, thanks for the warm welcome.
mommi2AlliWill, aren't Goldens the best. He is totally by companion and I can't wait to see him with the baby. He loves kids - especially because they tend to share their food with him.
Dawny, sorry to hear about your visit to the hospital, but I'm glad that you're feeling better. Congrats on hearing the heartbeat. I look forward to that.
marathongirl, hope your DD gets better soon.
Aletheia, yikes on the internal "construction", I'm laughing at the vision of a little baby with a hammer in its hand. ;) No bare belly photos from me since I already had a belly before getting PG, but I'm living vicariously through yours. Thanks for sharing.
babywish, that's so funny about your husband and your first appointment. I had warned my husband that their might be an internal exam, which there wasn't but he mentioned it to the nurse. I guess he's nervous about it, too. Have fun telling your friends - that was so fun for me!!
octoberkate, glad the QOTD template was helpful. I felt since I had waited so long to join, that I should contribute.
LilMissChaos, welcome! Your the verteran around here, huh?
dionysia, good to see you too! :D Funny that you got outed at work. I told my boss - since I knew as my manager it would help him plan for this year a little better. We're not a huge company - and they have always treated me fairly, no reason not to share the excitement.
Happy1, Hi Nikki - I'm so glad to be sharing this journey with you. You're optimism with all that you've been through has been inspiring and I'm so happy that your are PG again! :D (you might have seen me off and on in MEG's journal.)
Dotsie, so glad you're feeling better.
ocgatita, Glad the spotting is gone. My friends also warned me that it can be normal. good luck.
dana b, lol on the belly shots - I'd join you in the May thread.
larslobster, Adam's Pi, DallasLady: glad the QOTD were helpful. Its great catching up with everyone.
portlandbride, congrats on your previous med-free birth. I'm on the fence. I'm going to do my best to not need them, but I'm open to using if I'm feeling overwhelmed by the pain. I'm going to try Hypnobirthing - which really try to teach you techniques to try an let your body do all the work without pushing. What techniques did you use?
Camdynlyn - funny about your pants, I'm sure you look very cute today. Hope your m/s leaves permanantly.
QOTD: Tight Pants and when are your moving into maternity clothes - I happened to buy new smaller pants the day I found out I was PG, I can barely wear those. My older jeans are fine, because they were loose since I was trying to lose weight when this happened. ;) I was a bit bloated this past week, but did notice some of that is gone today. I'm hoping to control the weight gain, especially because I'm overweight and my mother is diabetic. I'm really worried about developing GD. But I'm a strong believer in wearing clothes that fit - so the minute I need something bigger, I'll get it. ;)
-------------------------------------------
Nothing really new for me. Feeling fine, no change there. I feel less bloated - which is a relief. As I mentioned in my SO's - I'm trying to eat well, since I'm concerned about developing gestational diabetes. I'm doing some serious research on prenatal testing - because of my age and also because my husband has muscular dystrophy. We really want to have as many answers as possible, so we make informed decisions as we proceed.
I'm also looking into HypnoBirthing. A friend of mine tried it and said it was wonderful. Anyone else already looking into specific areas regarding Labor and Delivery?

Dallas Lady Have you considered a diaper service? You have to use prefolds, but they do the laundry for you. It might be a good compromise--not throwing away diapers but not doing all the laundry either.
When did I go to maternity pants I didn't get into maternity clothes with DS until I was 4 months along. I did, however, do the rubberband trick with my jeans and wear comfy, baggy clothes around the house starting at maybe 8 or 10 weeks.

LilMissChaos, welcome! Your the verteran around here, huh?
LOL I guess you could say that! :p
As far as maternity clothes, I think I'm going to break mine out this weekend and we'll tell everyone "the news." I have no choice, my pants just do not fit anymore. This is the earliest I have ever pulled them out. With my first pregnancy I went until 8 months before I wore maternity, then my second pregnancy ended around 15 weeks, so I never got into maternity and then with my son, it was around 6 months I think. My goodness, if we have any more kids I might as well not even bother packing them away! ;)

Maternity clothes - not yet. My pants are tight but they were tight pre-pregnancy. :o I lost about 12 pounds a year ago and they've since crept back on. I was planning on buying some new pants anyway. I have 2 really generous gift certificates to Ann Taylor and Ann Taylor Loft from Christmas. I may go there this weekend and buy some pants to last me through the next couple of months (hopefully!). I'll probably buy the next size up and hopefully I can wear those until I'm actually IN maternity wear. I'm thinking having a larger size will also be nice post-pregnancy so that I don't have to keep wearing maternity stuff after the baby is here.
T-minus 3 hours until we tell my MIL the big news! After she's been such a pill about getting together I can't WAIT to see her face. :p

First appointment
Hey there guys. Thanks so much for stopping by. I just (literally) got back from the doc's office. I was there for about 2 hours. Can you believe it? There's not a whole lot to update on. The midwife I had to see was the same person I had when I was pg with Jacob. She was so thrilled to see me again and was so happy to hear we were doing well. I love her as a person. She was an excellent doctor too. If I didn't need to have a C-section with this baby I would definitely see her again (she doesn't do the surgery part). Anyway, we went over the whole history stuff, I gave them a printout of the donor history I had printed off the computer, I got a physical (not the fun part of the visit but still good), they took some bodily fluids from me and that was about it. My next visit is at 12 weeks on February 24th. If I don't hear back from them, I'm to assume that everything is fine. They'll let me know if something comes back abnormal before then. For my next visit I'm seeing the doctor I want to do the C-section. I'll probably see her as much as I can throughout the pregnancy just to have the comfort level.
They do do a few things differently than the last time. Now they have a baby passport. You can give it to them each time you go in and they write down all the stats for you so you can keep track as you go along. Hate to say I started out weighing in at 185 (where I ended after the pg last time). I know I was down to 171 before I got pg but that's all good. I get to blame it on the baby for now.
Can I make a confession? I stopped by the drug store quick before I got back to work and picked up one more pg test just to make sure I'm still pg.:p As if running to the bathroom more often, feeling like I can eat a horse, and the nauseousness isn't enough of a reminder. Sometimes I really wonder about myself. In case you're wondering-it still came up positive.;)
QOTD-Maternity clothes My pants are definitely getting a little snug. I've been wearing the loser jeans now and thank goodness my dresspants always fit looser before because they fit perfectly now. I just about freaked though after my appointment today when they were saying my 12 week appointment is on Feb. 24th. We have a wedding to go to Feb. 25th and no doubt I'll be in maternity clothes by then (this being our 2nd baby and all). Yikes! Time to shop!

Hi ladies! Sorry I've been MIA for a couple of pages-- I got to drive for four hours to catch up with my DH-- hadn't seen him since 1/3, so I was SO excited! Now we are at home, he's on the couch, and I'm... back on CC.
capecod- What devastating news. I'm so very sorry.
belly pics- I just wanted to say that if anyone who does not think they are a "skinny minny" has even the slightest inclination to post photos, they should. We have so many veteran mommies on this thread... and that's not something to be embarassed by! It means you have a cozier mommy lap, like my mom had. Who would choose a skinny angular lap when there was a cushiony welcoming one instead? :D
Camdynlyn- Thanks for doing all the updates! It had been a while since I'd done them, and man do we ever have lots of mamas here!

Married: October 5,2002

Hello everyone. It's been a while since I have been an active member of an online community, but I figure that I need as much help as I can get with this pregnancy! I recognize some screen names from back in my wedding planning days and am excited to meet some new folks.
DH and I found out that we were pregnant on January 20 and although this timeframe was a few months earlier than we had originally planned - we are excited about the blessing that we have been given. The issue is that I wasn't prepared, so I am reading everything I can get my hands on and hoping to get more information from reading this thread. Now I better go back and read the 74 previous pages to get to know everyone!

Welcome, twink!
I just wanted to report that we just told our parents... oh my gosh what an emotional event! My mom was crying, laughing, hooting right out loud... my goodness. It feels one more big degree more real!
And here, finally, is my 8w u/s- we went to Kinko's and scanned it in for our parents.

Catching up...
When did you suspect, pre-test, that you were PG? A couple days before testing when my bbs became very tender.
Has anybody had sex since finding out? No.
Will you find out the sex and will you disclose baby names to people? No idea yet on the sex, but will likely tell close family the names we pick.
Have you started thinking about any aspects of parenting for after the baby arrives? (Breastfeeding, Formula Feeding, Co-Sleeping, Cloth Diapering, etc?) Yes to bfing for a few months and then see how it goes, no to co-sleeping and cloth diapering.
Work - what do you and DH do? How does everyone handle getting sick at work? I manage a chemical lab (generally safe chemicals) and DH is a program manager for a telecommunications provider. I haven't gotten sick at work yet (fingers crossed).
Good Dreams = girl, Bad Dreams = Boy? Can't remember - will strive to pay more attention!
Have you told your parents or your in-laws yet and what # grandchild will this be for them? This will be MILs first grandchild and my parents 5th. Neither knows yet, we are waiting until after our first appointment.
What is your nickname for the baby? Mini M
Bought anything for the baby? No, but I am already looking for good deals on used furniture.
What questions are you asking/did you ask at your first ob appointment? When I went to my PCP to recheck for pregnancy, she said that I can take Extra Strength Tylenol for headaches.
Anyone else used or researching the Bradley method?

Trying to catch up...
When did you suspect, pre-test, that you were PG? About 6-7 DPO when the bbs got sore. They never get sore.
Has anybody had sex since finding out? Yes, but not since Xmas, I've been too sick ever since.
Will you find out the sex and will you disclose baby names to people? They don't tell the sex at our hospital. We've already started to tell people possible names.
Have you started thinking about any aspects of parenting for after the baby arrives? Yes to BFing. We'll see what happens with sleeping.
Work - what do you and DH do? How does everyone handle getting sick at work? I'm a high school teacher, DH is a computer programmer, but right now he is a SAHD to our little girl, (his choice). I have been off on sick leave for three weeks now, and will be off for one more week, so I haven't had to worry about being sick there. However, everyone (teachers and students) knows that I'm preggo anyway. They were so worried about me being off so long, that I let the news excape.
Have you told your parents or your in-laws yet and what # grandchild will this be for them? We've told everybody. This is the 3rd for my parents, and the 5th for the ILs.
What is your nickname for the baby? Thomas
Bought anything for the baby? No, but I have been buying things for Claire's new 'big girl' room, since the baby will get her nursery. I've already bought her quilt
What questions are you asking/did you ask at your first ob appointment? n/a

Hello ladies - thanks for all the welcomes! As I am watching a cooking show on TV, I came up with a QOTD.
QOTD: What food are you going to miss the most during your pregnancy?
I am a lover of soft cheeses and everytime I open the fridge, I see goat cheese and want to eat it. I should just throw it out so it stops tempting me. :)

Welcome Twink!!!
I don't think I"m going to miss anything to tell you the truth. Especially now when absolutely nothing appeals to me. I guess I would have to say blue cheese. I love bc. Right now I'm missing cereal. If I eat it, within 10 minutes of it going down it comes right back up. Not so yummy on the way out might I add.
I'm cleaning my bedroom right now and the smell of the cleaners is making me sick, not to mention that my 2y/o is insisting on popcorn and that smell will put me in the loo for the rest of the afternoon.

Today was an OK day. DH had to play with his band, so Claire went to
G-Ma's house for the day. I slept for most of the day. Only threw up twice! It's been a good day .
So, I figured I'd be brave and post a belly shot. Taken this evening. 8W5D:

Dawny - Great pic!
twink - Welcome! H & H 9 months to you!
QOTD: I plan on eating soft cheeses that have been pasteurized - so I'm hoping I don't have to miss them too much. I'm going to miss sushi and wine the most. Right now, neither one sound that great, but I do enjoy having a glass of wine with dinner. And DH and I like to go out for sushi for special occassions.
We told our parents this weekend. DH's mom on Friday night (due to the boyfriend conflicts. ;) ) and my parents last night. They were all just thrilled for us! Both of my parents immediately started crying/tearing up when they pulled their "Grandma/pa" bibs out of their gift bags. My dad even did a little dance around the kitchen!
I haven't done belly shot up until now. Mostly because ther is nothing to see yet and also because I was afraid to belive this was really happening. Anyways at thr urging of my buddies I have given in and will be taking weekly belly shots. I think it will be neat to have something to truly see the changes in my body over the next 9 months.
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y137/mrs_natalie/27.jpg
When did you suspect, pre-test, that you were PG?
I didn't. I knew Af was going to show because she always does. It wasn't until my LJ buddies every so gently convinced me to test after analysing my chart I thought ... "well maybe"
Has anybody had sex since finding out?
Yes
Will you find out the sex and will you disclose baby names to people?
We are not sure if we will be finding out the sex yet. However, I will not disclose the name to anyone IRL before the baby is here. I just don't want to run into negative comments on the name we have chosen. DH and I decided on the names of our (possible) children years ago and we are not changing our minds.
Have you started thinking about any aspects of parenting for after the baby arrives?
I definatly want to BF and cloth diaper if possible.
Work - what do you and DH do? How does everyone handle getting sick at work?
I work in the automotive industry (an desk job), so far I haven't been physically sick at work and I dread the day it happens. I have mapped out our building and found the fastest route to a bathroom at any one time. I keep ziploc bags in my desk and refill my water bottle every hour with cold water. DH works for a company very closely assosiated with mine also a desk job but is starting another PT job next week in the IT field, which will hopefully allow him to quit his current job in the spring.
Have you told your parents or your in-laws yet and what # grandchild will this be for them?
No we haven't told anyone IRL and plan to keep it that way until we clear the 1st trimester. We would like to wait until DHs grandparents come home from Florida in late March/early April. Or we may possibly had to tell if I get sick when they visit.
What is your nickname for the baby?
We are not very creative and just call the baby 'baby'
Bought anything for the baby?
The only baby item we have is a Team Canada onsie, which I bought to tell DH the first time I got PG last Feb.
What questions are you asking/did you ask at your first ob appointment?
Going to my first appointment this week.
What food are you going to miss the most during your pregnancy?
Honestly, I plan on eating whatever I want. I know there are certain things one should stay away from but if that happens to be the only thing, which sounds good to me, it shall be eaten. Now some foods, which I used to love now seem like the last thing I would want to eat so who knows.

Hey ladies. I went to see the nurse practitioner on Friday. The visit was basically a non-event. They took blood for an official pg test - I need to call on Tuesday for the results. Other than that they just ran through the medical history, took my bp, weighed me etc. They changed my edd to 9/29 from 9/27 - this is fine with me - the closer to October the better although I seriously doubt I'll make it that far. She also said that on Friday I was 5w2d (based on LMP starting 12/22) - If that's right then I was counting the weeks and days wrong. I need to pull out a calendar and get it straight in my head.
I liked the NP - she wasn't with the practice before. It does seem like there are some changes in what the practice does with new pregnancies. Last time I had a quick internal at this same visit - that internal showed a large pocket of blood in my cervix. I didn't have any external spotting but the blood could have been from the placenta seperating or it could've caused a m/c. Because of that I was classified as high risk and had an early u/s and more u/s than normal.
There was no internal this visit, and I don't have another visit (this time with the OB) until I'm 9weeks. And since I'm not high risk this time I won't have any u/s until 20 weeks. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad that there are fewer concerns this time, but I really liked getting those early shots of the baby last time, I'm going to miss them.
I did have a little spotting Friday morning - this may be tmi but I tend to prefer to sleep w/o undies unless AF is around or expected - I just don't like to have anything on my waist (I've always been a nightshirt person) and I woke up Friday AM to find blood on the sheets. I was freaked out. I went to the bathroom and sure enough, there was a decent amount of blood on the TP - but it was all really dark brown. I told the NP about it at the visit and she agreed that it was probably old stuff and nothing to worry about, but to call if I saw more.
Other than that, not much baby stuff to report. I'm still not having any "symptoms" - no sore boobies, no nausea (knock on wood), nothing except some exhaustion (but I still have a nasty cold so that's to be expected) and more gas than normal (I'm so sexy).
We still haven't told our friends and family, but I did order an "I'm the big brother" shirt for my son so we'll be ready to tell them in a few weeks when my sister is in town.
QOTD - Clothing: I checked my old journal and it said I didn't "show" until about 15 weeks last time, but I know that I was wearing looser clothes and smaller maternity pants (jeans) around 10-12 weeks. I know that you usually show earlier with second children. This summer I lost enough weight to go down a size in dress pants and jeans. I'm hoping that when the tummy starts growing I can move into those for a few weeks/months? before I need the true maternity clothes. We'll see.
QOTD - Food You'll Miss: I desperately miss coffee and diet coke. I believe that caffeine is ok in very limited quantities, but I don't think I can do small amounts of coffee - it's all or nothing for me. And I'll be skipping the diet coke mostly because I don't want to pass on the crap in the artificial sweeteners. If I get nauseaous again I will drink a coke every now and then, because that settles my tummy, but I really don't want the empty calories. I also LOVE blue cheese (must pick up some pasteurized salad dressing) and brie so I'll probably miss those as time goes on.
I know I owe some shoutouts, but I need to get some house junk done before I go to bed... Take care everyone!
Dotsie

The nausea has left the building...along with the extreme fatigue. I am actually starting to feel like a normal person again. Yay! My appetite is ginormous. I cannot eat a lot at one sitting but I eat a lot throughout the day.
Hope everyone is feeling good. Happy Monday!!
