This is the only thing, I've seen:
Johnny Damon, Kevin Millwood and Jeff Weaver were expected to reject salary arbitration by midnight. Twenty-six free agents were offered salary arbitration by their former teams on Dec. 7, and 17 remained unsigned. Players rejecting arbitration can re-sign with their former teams through Jan. 8.

We would love to have him on our Yankees, though!

I can't believe it, I just don't see how I could ever cheer for Johnny Damon. The thought of him in the pinstripes breaks my heart!

Does this mean he'll have to cut his hair?

bookworm- I think he WILL have to cut his hair---doesn't Steinbrenner have a rule against players having long hair and/or facial hair? I think Giambi had to cut his hair when he signed.
I was highly pissed hearing this news. DH is a Yankees fan, and I'm a Sox fan....so things will be interesting on the home front here!

So maybe w/o long hair I won't think he's as hot as I used to. That will make it that easier for me to disown him :(

Are you Sox fans pissed?
I am, but I can't say that I'm surprised. I think a lot of people knew this would happen last year when he became a free agent. Sox don't pay the bills like the Yanks do. It's always been that way :(

Nah, not pissed. Perhaps a little nostalgic for the old days of baseball, but it's on both sides now--teams and players.
Did you read Shaughnessy's column (http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/articles/2005/12/21/for_sox_a_little_off_the_top/)? He's not always my favorite, but I liked this one.
I am, however, still bummed about losing Theo.

I saw this on the way in this morning and was just shocked. I mean, I saw the headline on CNN and my jaw dropped. Maybe it's not as big of a deal as I'm making it out to be...

DH had to call me today from work to tell me all about it. FTR, he's a Yankees fan. He told me it was a Red Sox player and made me guess who it was by saying "The guy with long hair." I'm like "The fat guy?" (meaning Manny Ramirez) He was cracking up. One of his partners is a Red Sox fan, so he was in mourning today. DH said he came into work all disheveled. lol
Yes, he will have to cut his hair and shave. He can have a mustache, but no goatee or beard. (DH informed me of this also during our conversation today).
I don't think he's hot at all, though. Personally, I think he looks like a gorilla.:p

ICK!!! As a Sox fan I am still disgusted. I applaud him for what he did for my team, but when he comes back to Fenway in a Yankees uniform he will be part of the enemy team.
And, I hate his haircut and think he looks ridiculous.

He doesn't look any better with short hair and no beard than he did with long hair and a beard.:p

I'm a Seattle Mariner fan, so I naturally detest all things "Yankee". I just don't get how anybody who's played for the BoSox could possibly WANT to play for the Yankees....especially after the awesome 2004 season!! It just breaks my heart if he's doing it simply for the $$. Baseball is a sport that should be better than that, you know?
