I want to play!!
We went to Xel Ha. It is like a natural water park, 40 minutes south of cancun. Unfortunatly, I only have this 1 pic:

Hm...well it still looks ok!! Did you venture up to Cozumel at all? I am currently on an extended vacation from my job (I'm a dancer with Carnival Cruise Lines) because I broke my ankel but am heading back after Christmas...I've heard terrible things about how Cozumel was hit and have been scared to go back..it's one of my fave places...heck, it was closed completely to cruise ships until not too long ago...
anyone been to Cozumel since the hurricane??

There are pictures of our Mexican Riviera honeymoon on the first page of my journal and at the very end of the travel pictures thread. I'd post them here, but I'm at work and unfortunately they block Photobucket, so I don't have access to them at the moment. Perhaps I'll post some in this thread tonight when I get home, if I get a chance.
We went to Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlan, and Puerta Vallarta. The Pacific coast of Mexico is just breathtaking! And the people we met were incredibly friendly! We had an awesome time. I've never been to Mexico on the Atlantic side though. I'd loooooove to see some Mayan ruins someday!

Great Pics ladies! FI and I are trying to decide between Riviera Maya and Italy for our honeymoon (beginning of May 2006). I read somewhere that pretty soon people were not going to be able to climb up the Ruins at Chichen Itza. Does anyone know if this is true???

When we were there, they were still allowing people to climb up (as you can see from my pics!), but our guide that they were going to stop allowing it soon. I'm not sure if they have implemented it yet or not. We went in May of '04.

It kinda makes me sad looking at the pictures, we just had such a great time and I know that it will be awhile before we will be able to go back.
I am interested in knowing also how the area is doing after the hurricane. On our anniversary they were showing on the news all the resort people squashed together in safe area (can't think of the name at the moment), it was scary to know that exactly one year before we had been there.

hola! we're back from cabo san lucas! check out our slideshow at (just under 4 minutes long http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HKOfbbQOdRA
i think the pictures speak for themselves but a few random comments about our CABO experience (will add more as it comes to me)
- flight is not bad, only under 3 hours
- we got bumrushed at the airport by people trying to sell time shares.
- hotel finisterra in an excellent location - only 15 mins walk to down town. we didn't need a taxi
- prices are pretty much the same as in the states
- party scene is CRAZY here. lots of youngins.
- our favorite clubs in order of preference: el squid roe, the zoo, giggling marlin, cabo wabo
- killed me to see children as young as 4 (lots of them) selling gum, toys, etc in the streets - at 2:00am or later!! just... killed me.
- weather was fantastic to us the whole time. there was supposed to be t-storms, but we got great weather
- that spa we went to pretty much was THE BEST we ever went to, with the best massages. for that alone, i'd go back to cabo!

Kristy Thanks for posting pics of the Moon Palace. We are taking a family vacation there in 2 weeks (11/5-11/10). The pics are awesome, I try to stay away from Tripadvisor because I'll read a bad review and start to second guess the hotel.
What side did you stay on, we requested the Sunrise side.

Islandbride, you'll love it! We had nothing but a great experience there, and best of all, it's the closest resort to the airport, so you have a short ride lol!
We stayed on the Nicuz (I know I'm probably spelling it wrong) side, which was the quieter of the two. It's a pretty short walk between them, and there are always golf cart shuttles to take you back and forth between the two. We were at both sides pretty often for meals, but liked the pools a little better on our side. Quieter, a lot less people, and it was easier to get beach chairs with an umbrella in the shade.

Great pictures!! It makes me miss Mexico so much. We can't wait to go back. We stayed at Aventura Spa Palace and visited Moon Palace one day. We love the Palace resorts. I'd like to stay at the Playacar palace next time. We didn't get as many pictures as I would have liked because we spent so much time lazying around by the lagoon and pool but of the pictures we did get, these are my favorites.
The view from our room.

justHB It was great. It is a good base to see a lot of things in the region, and it's a nice city in itself, worth maybe 2-3 days focus, depending on how much you want to see. It was great coming back to every evening because there was always something going on in the main plaza. It's not a big tourist destination for Americans so I really needed my high school spanish to get by, even at hotels. There were lots of shops to look at, but almost none that sold things like t shirts or magnets. The city itself was really clean and old, and there are lots of great boutique hotels and restaurants. I would definitely recommend visiting, but I wouldn't go back. Once is enough, considering all the other places there are to see.

My husband and I went to Mexico last April - We stayed in Cozumel for a few days, then took the ferry to the mainland and drove across some of the Yucatan. We did see a lot of the ruins, but since there are so many photos of that, I'll skip those photos.
Cozumel beach on the opposite side of the city strip (we rode a scooter) - it's much, much nicer than the city-side.

Walking off the main strip on Cozumel:

We spent a night in Valladolid - Here is the main church in the center of town:

Taffers-Thanks. The iguanas at Tulum love those red flowers. I think they were hibiscus. Our tour guide had us pick some on the way in to feed the iguanas. They will come right up to you and take it from your hand.
The resort you stayed at...isn't that where they filmed The Heartbreak Kid with Ben Stiller? It is gorgeous! I told DH I wanted to go there after we watched the movie.
