Clomid dosage

Is 50 mg Clomid the usual dosage to start on? My doctor has prescribed 100 mg and I'm confused on why it's higher. Has anyone else started on 100 mg? Will I get more side effects because of the higher dosage?

Patience I started on 100mg and ovulated on my own. My RE never attempted 50mg. I recommend taking it at night because it made me very sleepy. I actually slept amazingly well when on it. As far as side effects, I only had some hot flashes but after O gave me some serious FPS (fake pregnancy symptoms). Oh, and it completely eliminated my normally prevalent EWCM. I never went below or beyond 100mg so I can't compare doses.

Some docs don't even want to waste time on 50 mg, for whatever reason. I've seen it before around these parts though, so you aren't the first. As long as your doc is going to be monitoring you on that dosage, you should be fine.

jennylou & Soulmate - Thanks for replying. It's good to know that 100 mg is not a very unusual dosage to start with. I'm still undecided on starting Clomid. I'm worry about the thinner lining and thicker CM (or absence of fertile CM). I'm doing acupuncture right now, so I'll wait and see if that'll do the trick.
