Wide ribbon belt

My friend gave me a gorgeous ribbon belt from Ann Taylor, but it's almost 4 inches wide, so much wider than the loops on my pants. How do I wear this? Fold it in half? Scrunch it? Wear it outside the loops? Buy pants with giant belt loops? Thank you!

Myra- This is a good question. I have seen the ribbon belt worn different ways. I don't think sqeezing it in a small belt loop is a good idea. I have one that I tie around a jacket worn with dark denim jeans. It is a great way to dress up denim. There are also lots of dress pants out there with larger belt loops made for these kinds of belts :) Here is a picture to get an idea of what I am talking about.

Bump. Need more suggestions. I tried it with a longer top, looping the belt around the top at my waist or lower, and it just looked so 80s.
