My DS is 4 months old and can roll over both directions. Now that he can roll I am concerned that he will roll himself over and get his face stuck against the bumper pad or something. Is this a silly fear or should I remove the bumper from his crib?
TIA

I came on here tonight looking for the same answer. Aiden started rolling over a few days ago, so I started to get alittle nervous. I have a 19 month old too, but I cannot remember what I did for him. Seems like it was years ago!

When we didn't have the crib bumper on, she would roll around and get her arms and legs stuck in between the crib slats. It didn't hurt her at all, but it always woke her up, which wasn't good. So, we put the bumper on. Since then, all arms and legs have remained inside the crib.
She's never been smushed up so close to it that I worried about her breathing, but everyone has to do what makes them comfortable there...

everyone has a different opinion on this subject. heres mine: do what makes you feel comfortable.
for us, that was leaving them on. since she was born dd has had a strong "get away from my face" reflex. if i tried to wipe her nose, even if she was sound asleep, she would shove me away and fight me. she was quite an active sleeper, i would often find her in the total opposite position i had put her down in (feet and head had switched sides) even before she could roll in one direction yet she never ever got her face smashed up against the bumper. maybe we were just lucky. but again, i know my child and i know she will fight and scream if anything goes near her nose and mouth. even now wiping her face after a meal is a fight. so anyway, do whatever makes you feel safe and secure.

We kept ours on until Aiden was probably 16 months or so and the only reason we took it off was because he broke one of the ties.

I too kept my DS bumpers on for quit a long time i think 16-17 months. FOr the same reasons a posted above. His arms and legs would get cought in the slats and then he would wake crying then i would have the hardest time getting him back to bed.
