Thanks, Mandy! I'm actually completely ignorant about flowers, so I don't know much about the bouquets, but I lifted this from my florist contract:

Some flowers used may include: orange unique, jade, and black magic roses, mokara and kang orchids, mango calla lilies, red freesia, ranunculus, berries, and bells of Ireland.

And the book we used for inspiration was Paula Pryke’s Simple Flowers (note pp. 31, 39, 42, 46 123 and 125).

I don't have a really good photo of my bouquet scanned in--but just to give you food for thought--I couldn't decide on what kind of flowers I wanted AT ALL (the only thing I knew I wanted was a white bouquet). Finally, while looking through my parents' wedding photos, I decided to have my florist copy my mother's bouquet. She had a cascade of white roses and lily-of-the-valley.

It turned out beautiful, was unusual (since it was a copy from 1961), and I loved telling guests the significance behind it.

ETA: I guess this is a somewhat decent shot--you can see how it cascades--sorry no closeups of it!

My flowers changed a lot from the beginning- started with gerbera, then went to peonies, then dahlias, then a mix of things. Mind you, I did go through quite a few florists as well.

They were small bouquets of roses and each BM had a different shade of pink, and the MOH had a mixture of all shades of pink.

Yeeeeah. Actually she had written in her notes "mostly red bouquet with calla lilies" and I tried to tell her that I did not want a mostly red bouquet. I think what happened was when she put the bouquets together, she just went off her notes and not what I told her. The worst part is, I almost asked her to cross out 'mostly red' from her notes and I thought that might've been a little demeaning, and I'm basically a nice person and didn't want to be demeaning, so I didn't do it. Something funny: I went in to the other room just now to help B, and I must've had a look on my face, cause he said: "What's wrong." I mean, I can feel my blood pressure rise every time I think about this stupid bouquet. So I tell him: "I want that florist to make me a new bouquet, and pay for a photo session so I can have pictures with my real bouquet."

He said, "Uh-oh," and laughed and kissed my forehead. Then he sort of chuckled and said, "I thought we were past the Floral Closure thing. Are those women on that message board getting you all riled up? Or are you just looking at the photos and doing it to yourself?"

I made a mock-pout face and said, "Both."

Here's a pic of my bouquet from my July 5th, 2003 wedding... It had white and lavender roses, freesia and hydrangeas in it and the stems were wrapped in beads.

The florist messed up on my BM's bouquets, they were supposed to be three long stemmed Sunflowers in presentation bouquet style. Instead, my florist wound up doing all of their bouquets to be round cluster bouquets and nosegays.

Sadly, I don't have a close up of my bouquet (stupid photographer :mad: ). It was 2 dozen red roses... The only thing I didn't like was that the "stems" were way too long! I assumed they'd be cut off about halfway, but they weren't. It was like carrying a heavy bouquet with the whole 1-foot or so of regular sized rose stems... Shame on me for assuming, I guess...

I actually got the inspiration for the roses when I was in Sam's Club one day. Originally I was going for purples, but then immediately changed my mind to the Leonidas roses since we married in October.

A funny side story to us choosing stargazers, my hubby had come with me to our first florist appointment and spotted the stargazers, he loved them so much that he insisted that we use the stargazers :)

The girls each had different single flower bouquets (red tulips, coral gerbera daisies, blue delphinium, yellow snapdragons, and purple hydrangeas) and my bouquet was a combo with some cymbidium orchids. The groomsmen had bouts to match their bridesmaids. Orchids made up everyone elses corsages/bouts. It was a fun and unique way to add some color!:D

Well, my wedding was quite a while ago, but I thought my flowers were amazing. My florist has since gained national recognition and been in many bridal magazines. At the time, she was newer and somewhat cheaper :)

I asked for her to do the opposite of what's often done - so mine was similar to the bridesmaids', but in brighter colors. It was the middle of summer, and I really wanted color, especially since the girls were in platinum dresses.

Gorgeous flowers everyone. I loved my flowers. They turned out perfectly. If I have posted them already, I apologize....But I gave a quick check and didn't see them.
My bouquet was ivory and light pink. The girls had light pink to dark pink. They wore wine coloured gowns.
Our wedding had a butterfly/dragonfly theme, so our bouquets all had broaches in them. Except mine which had a heart broach.
