Country music stars Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood said "I do" on Saturday in a private ceremony at their Oklahoma home.

Brooks, an Oklahoma native, and Yearwood exchanged vows before family members, said Nancy Seltzer, a publicist for the couple.

"They said it is the perfect Christmas gift to each other and they couldn't be happier," Seltzer said. She declined to provide any other details.

Brooks, 43, got down on one knee and proposed to Yearwood, 41, in May in front of 7,000 fans at the "Legends in Bronze" event at Buck Owens' Crystal Palace in Bakersfield, Calif. Ten larger-than-life bronze statues honoring country stars were unveiled during that event, including one of Brooks.

The marriage is the second for Brooks, who has three children, and the third for Yearwood.

Brooks is credited with widening the genre's appeal in the 1990s by merging traditional country with honky tonk, pop, folk and rock. His "Ropin' the Wind" album was the first such country recording to debut at the top of the pop music charts. His latest album, "Scarecrow," went triple platinum.

Yearwood was named the Country Music Awards female vocalist of the year in 1997 and 1998. Her latest album is "Jasper County."

I don't know if this was ever confirmed. I know he cheated on his wife in the past w/ other women.

I'm happy they are finally married, finally! I don't really care for Garth much, but I love Trisha Yearwood. :D

I'm not sure that he cheated with Trisha. A couple of weeks ago I couldn't sleep and was flipping channels and came across an interview with Garth. He said that before he proposed, he talked to his ex-wife about it. I want to think her reply was something along the lines of "It's about time" or something like that. I think that if Trisha had been the "other woman" Garth's ex-wife would not have replied the way she did. But what do I know? ;)

She has always been "normal" or chunky, whatever you call it. I have always admired her for that. I know it sounds strange, but you know how it is when you are a celebrity...most are bone thin. :eek:

Garth and Trisha have been close ever since he hit the country music scene, and I don't think they had a romantic relationship until after his divorce (from what I remember from interviews and stuff). Garth's exwife has been nothing but supportive, and I wouldn't expect that if she was a "woman scorned", KWIM?

They might not have been romantically involved until his divorce, but I saw Garth twice in concert, Trisha was there both times and came out to sing with him. I swear, I could see the sparks flying between them even from my nosebleed seats! (the second time I saw him, I actually had awesome seats and Trisha and Garth were absolutely mooning over each other) :D

She looks so happy though. Didn't Garth cheat on Sadie with somebody? I hope he doesn't cheat on Trisha. I just adore her. Great, now I'll have She's in love with the boy racing around my brain for the remainder of the day.


I remember seeing some interview, maybe with Diane Sawyer or Barbara Walters, in which the reporter asked Garth how Sadie is taking this engagement, and he said something to the effect of, "She's great. She's dealing with it in a much classier way than I would have, had i been in her shoes."

If I remember correctly, he did admit to cheating on his wife (I don't think it was a long standing affair, but a one time thing). I've heard him talk about how he regrets it and how much he admires his ex-wife (her name's Sandy, by the way - not Sadie). It wasn't with Trisha though...

Yeah, Garth cheated on Sandy...but not with Trisha. They were always close friends ever since he came onto the scene. After the divorce they remained close friends and then eventually romantically involved. I really like them together and I'm glad they are now getting married.
