I know we've had threads in the past about which celebrities we've seen, at any point in time, but I thought it would be neat to have a thread to post recent celebrity sightings, sort of like the gossip columns do. There are so many of us, hopefully we will have a lot of posts. :)

My contribution:

Yesterday, walking back from federal court in downtown Manhattan, I passed the film crew shooting Law and Order: SVU and saw Ice-T. I run into the L&O film crews all the time, since they film in and around actual Manhattan courthouses, but it's not often that I get to see the actors. Interestingly, the scene was in the plaza between one of the courthouses and the NYC Municipal Building, where, apparently, Matt Damon and Luciana Barroso were getting married at around the same time. Didn't see them, though. :)

Ill be second.

Last night after I was done working on a wedding at the Mandarin Oriental I was leaving the hotel and in came Debbie Mazer, she look great and all done up and wearing a mink shawl or something like that. She had her daughter with her who apparently was not in a good mood, but what 4 or 5 year old is at night. She was adorable and Debbie gave me a big smile.

Tuesday as I was riding the R train downtown I was standing next to the woman who played the one time model in just shoot me her first name is Wendy I forget her last the only reason why I knew she was there was because of her voice I recognized it and so I turned and there she was standing tall and extremely thin.

Ok thats it for now.

While at dh's Christmas party in Chicago (the saloon steakhouse) Goran Visnjic and Maura Tierney (Luca Kovac & Abby Lockhart from ER) were sitting at the table next to ours!

It was my first celebrity sighting!!!

I was in the elevator at the Magnolia Hotel in Houston the weekend of November 19 with Tiffani-Amber Thiessen. She's tiny and gorgeous and seemed nice, although I didn't say anything. I think she noticed that I recognized her because when I was looking at her and figured out who she was I guess I had a look of recognition because she looked away. I think she was in Houston for a wedding because she and the girl and guy (who was her husband now that I've done my imdb research) she was with were dressed up.

I met former MTV VJ Kennedy at MoMa in 1999.

Kato Kaelin has a show called "Eye for an Eye." It is a courtroom comedy show where the ruling is revenge. Anyway, in one episode, the revenge was against a man who kept heckling a comedian. We went to a comedy club and were prepped by Kaelin about what was going on and instructed not to laugh at anything and heckle if we wanted to.

DH's cousin is in the Christian band Mercy Me, but I've never met him.

I saw Matthew McConaughey twice when he was filming How To Lose a Guy in 10 Days.

Oh man! This thread was made for me. I see someone every few days in NYC. Tuesday I saw Anthony Edwards at a tap recital I went to. His kids were dancing - not him. Although that would have been funnier.

I saw Keanu Reeves in Napa when he was shooting a movie there. Other than that I met the actors that played in Falcon Crest at a cast signing. My mom saw Robin Williams at a restaurant but didn't get his autograph because he was mobbed. She went to school with Ron Howard and a few other celebrities in North Hollywood.

I met Tom Berenger (Major League, Platoon) at a restaurant I worked at a few years ago. He was very polite and I got his autograph for my mom who's a huge fan of his. He said he was in town for knee surgery and came in to the restaurant about 4 or 5 times.

The only celebrity I've ran into accidentally was Danny Bonaduce... he was in my home town eating at a restaurant and was taking a stroll when we saw him. He was with Gretchen, and he signed an autograph for me and my boyfriend at the time. Very nice, very personable. Both him and Gretchen are shorter than me and I'm 5'9". This would have been around 1993 when he was on WLUP in Chicago... I THINK he was clean and sober during that brief period. :D

What a fun thread!

I posted this a couple of weeks ago in the Gilmore Girl thread:

I had an Alexis Bledel (Rory from the Gilmore Girls) sighting this weekend. I was at a Junior League event at the Century Plaza hotel in LA. I was in charge of seating people at their tables - meaning I had to stand by the door for 1.5 hours BUT I had a direct view of Alexis the entire time. She asked me where to find the restroom ... heehee! I get such a kick out of celebrity sightings!

http://www.centuryplaza.hyatt.com/hyatt/hotels/

ps) My husband got a kick out of seeing "Dog the Bounty Hunter" and Hulk Hogan standing in the lobby. It was a very random day.

http://www.dogthebountyhunter.com/main.php

Aside from this, my husband and his co-workers travel each week for work so they started this celebrity sighting communication email as a friendly competition between each other. A week prior to Jessica and Nick officially announcing their decision to separate, he flew home with them on 1st class from Cinci, OH to Los Angeles, CA. He sent out a group email via blackberry to his co-workers and he got 15 instantaneous replies asking, "Is she wearing her ring? Are they talking? Does she wear too much make-up?" - mind you these were questions from both female and male co-workers! :D But, the most interesting part is that Jess and Nick made their body guard sit in coach ... my husband said this guy was huge and looked so uncomfortable because the seats were too small for his size.

Last one, a friend of ours saw Adam Brody and Rachel Bilson (Seth and Summer from The OC) at Amoeba Music yesterday in Hollywood. Personally, I love them both so this was exciting for me.

I used to live in LA (until 3 months ago) and I worked on a sitcom, so celeb sighting was a-plenty. It gets to the point where you don't even notice people because they just blend in. I'm terrible at noticing people. My husband had to point out Justin Timberlake at Cold Stone Creamery to me once. I was very shocked that he knew who he was!!! hahaha. I find that I'm much better at picking out the pseudo celebs or has-been celebrities. I used to see a ton of people at Gelson's (a grocery store) in Van Nuys.

The funniest one was Kevin Costner and his wife in a tanning salon. Oddly enough, it's the same tanning salon that Jessica Simpson has been going to (I saw some pics in In Touch or Star magazine of her walking out of South Beach Tan). I don't know what the appeal of that place is. It's no better than any other one I've been to. I used to go there for Mystic Tan simply b/c I lived near there. The owner is a former American Gladiator, so maybe she just has a lot of Hollywood friends or something.

I agree. Especially if you work in entertainment, you see celebs constantly. I barely pay attention anymore, unless it's someone really big.

I saw Keenan Ivory Wayans at the Sandbar on Granville Island in Vancouver a couple of months ago. He was there telling a story to a bunch of people in the bar part. I was walking past with my 2 1/2 year old daughter to take her to the bathroom, and he stopped telling his story and waved at her with this huge smile. I guess he likes kids.
Chad Kroeger from Nickelback also lives just outside of my town, and frequents a local restaurant here.

This one is old, but worth mentioning. DH (who was BF at the time) and I drove to LA for our Spring Break in maybe 1997? Not sure on the year. Anyway, we were driving down Sunset Blvd and decided to turn left into a record store (I can't remember which one). We didn't know that we were pulling into the exit and this brand-spankin' new Jaguar tries to exit and we're in the way. We look into the car and there's Tupac. DH went crazy he was so excited.

I sat in the business class lounge at Vienna Airport last month with the Austrian President.

I used to live in Savannah when they made some movies there (Gingerbread Man, General's daughter, Forces of Nature,...) so we saw a bunch of celebs then. We were shopping at K-mart when they did the scene from Forces of Nature :D Sandra Bullock is really short and has no boobies.

I checked Angela Basset out of a hotel (I was front desk staff), she was not very nice.

I had Bobby Mc Ferrin (song: don't worry, be happy) on a plane once. He read his bible the entire time. I told the captain that he must not trust the captain's flying abilities ;)

Oh, I thought of another one. I was in San Francisco for a conference and some good friends and I were having dinner and some yummy pomegranate margaritas. I had enough to make me a little tipsy and looked over at the bar and exclaimed to my friends, "Look! That guy looks so much like Don Johnson!" They said, "That is Don Johnson!" He was really worn-looking. Too much alcohol and drugs over the years, I guess. He was doing tequila shots with some young thing.

I saw Matthew McConaughey at a Yankee game in Yankee Stadium a bunch of years back (probably 5 or so.) He is so gorgeous in person.

I live in Austin, where MM went to school and keeps a house (still, as far as I know). I saw him at a "shiny shirt guy" bar called Lucky Lounge surrounded by people who just stared at him and laughed at everything he said. I personally like him, but his hair is NOTICIBLEY thining and he is SHOOORRRRRTT. I am 5'7 and I was nose to nose with him. I elbowed my way right up to him to take a peek, my cousin was horrified that I did. I think i even backed the truck up into him so I could say "excuse me". Course that was in my single days when I would have a couple of Mexican Martini's before we went out and I had huge guts. So I did bump him, say excuse me and then pretend to recognize him like I didn't know he was there and smile and rolly eyes, then demurely went back to my vodka/tonic. It was fun.

Mine are pretty old sightings.

I saw Rik Ocasek and his super model wife, Paulina Porizkova (former Estee Lauder girl) at a local grocery store. This was at least 15 years ago - I have NO idea what they bought because I was too star struck. He was tall and skinny and SUPER pale. She was tall and skinny and beautiful despite her frumpy clothes. She was reading a people mag while she waited in line.

13 years ago, I saw Whoppi Goldberg, Drew Barrymore and Mary-Louise Parker shooting a "Boys on the Side" scene at a little hospital up the street from my apartment complex.

oh, fun thread. Let's see, I've had a few celebrity sightings:

A few years I spotted Anne Heche walking down Madison Avenue in NYC. She looked beautiful (great skin) and is very tiny!
DH and I were on the same plane as Amber and Boston Rob (from Survivor and Amazing Race shows). She is very pretty in person.
DH and I were on the same plane as former President Clinton.

When I was in school at UT, our season football tickets were right underneath his luxury box at the stadium two years in a row. Now, I am a big, big Longhorn football fan, but most of the time my friend and I were looking up at him, not at the field. Our boyfriends at the time just rolled their eyes at us. They were just jealous. ;)

Oh I cant belive I forgot this!

Every Saturday pretty much, I see Tony Sirico from the Sorpranos. He drives a red Caddy and he goes to his DryCleaners and we go across the street to the bakery so we usually double park parrallel to each other.

I wont say he is extremely friendly, but he manages to grin. His hair is always done! Geez I wish my hair was always done up.

Oh yesterday on they way to the bank I saw a Football guy coming out of a limo I dont remmember his name people were taking pictures and well going nuts too bad I dont know who he is:)

Let's see, most of mine are music-related. Most recently; DH and I were at our regular hangout (a little country-western bar in Middle River, MD). It was DH's birthday and we had gone there to sing karaoke. About an hour after we got there, this huge tour bus pulled up and the next thing we knew, Montgomery Gentry was walking right past us! They stayed for several hours, sang with a couple of our friends, bought an entire bottle of Jim Beam and played shufflebowl. They both autographed DH's cowboy hat, which nobody is allowed to touch anymore. Eddie Montgomery was much more sociable than Troy was.

I have also met Charlie Sheen when he filmed Major League 2 in Baltimore.

Others I have met: Blake Shelton, Andy Griggs, Blackhawk, Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, Martina McBride. (the last four I met the same weekend about 9 years ago at a huge music festival. I had backstage passes!:D )

When Meryl Streep was getting ready to film "Music of the Heart" it was based on a graduate of my college. She came back to do a presentation and master class, and Meryl was with her. She was character shadowing, as well as taking daily violin lessons from her for the movie. It was really cool!

Hmmm... fun! Let's see...None of mine are terribly recent, and they're pretty varied. I used to live and work out on Martha's Vineyard right after college, and summertime usually saw an influxof the rich and fabulous.

I waited on Spike Lee and his wife once. He was a complete dick.
His sister, who was in ...aw, I forget the title, but it was one of his movies, anyway -- SHE was awesome and incredibly nice.
Seated Walter Cronkite. His daughter looked JUST like my mom, which freaked me out.
Met and had several conversations with Shel Silverstein, who was really cool. He's probably the one that meant the most to me, since I grew up on his books and they still meant the world to me. He drew me a picture for my best friend on an envelope when I was sitting with him in a cafe with him one day. I never had him do anything for me, which I regret, since he has since passed on and I will never again have the opportunity to ask.
Saw Wesley Snipes and Jasmine Guy at various points.
I saw Steven Tyler (Aerosmith) in a mall outside Boston a few years ago, shopping for a lampshade and skin products. He is *tiny*!
This one is the most random -- I once found myself on a plane with John Wayne Bobbitt -- the guy who got his willy lopped off. He was, hands down, the *dumbest* person I have ever seen, trying to give his lawyer noogies while they were talking, etc. (I don't know if he was his lawyer or his agent, but he was not amused by the noogies). I fell asleep on the trip, squished across another empty seat, and woke up to someone tucking a blanket around me. Well...it was Mr. Bobbitt! So strange to open my eyes and see him tucking me in...I guess someone suggested he be nice to women from now on!

ignatuzz glad to see there is another girl from the neighborhood here;)

I though about it long and hard:confused: and this year has been my year of star sightings. The first "star" was a guy in the Sorpranos show I forget his name but he was getting a BJ in the car and Meadow's boyfriend saw him? remmember well he goes to this bakey shop alot with his fiance and has coffee and sandwiches or whatever he has lost alot of weight although still is big.

Then I saw Julia Roberts strolling up 23rd street looking horribly bad! with an ugly crochet cap of some sort no makeup skinny as a stick and not as tall as I though she was she is like barely 5'8 maybe 5'81/2 but not more than that and she was yelling at the paparazzi to stop taking pictures she finally stop and showed them her teethy smile and them just as fast stopped smiling and kept on walking it was a fake smile. The only reason why I saw this was because I was on the bus and I saw a bunch of guys with camers running and taking fotos of someone infront of them and making all of this commotion and I looked out the window behind me and there she was telling to go to hell.. it was funny.

Then I met SJP at the signing of her perfume at Lord and Taylor she was so nice and her perfume is delicious.

And the rest well Ive already discussed in an earlier post.

But the last one was LLCoolJ he was the nicest one of all.

And speaking of Amanda Bynes, we saw the rest of her cast out at the Smoke House (in Burbank) a couple of weeks ago. It was the Friday before Christmas (the 19th) and they probably just finished filming across the street. This was the second time I've seen Jenny Garth up close and she really is SO pretty. When I lived in NYC, I worked in the Carpenter's Building on Hudson and Houston. I saw TONS of celebs because KissFM was two floors above us (I think...popular NYC radio station):

Snoop Dog and his crew...nasty, foul-smelling bunch they were. I was totally skeeved out.

I can't remember his name, but he was an up & coming rap star...he did a remake of Hard Knock Life...he invited me to a party...couldn't go because I was going to Iowa. Go me!

Tim Robbins and Susan Sarandon...I think they lived in the area where I used to work. I saw them all the time....all dressed up, dressed down. Tim Robbins has to be at least 10 feet tall.

Had a conversation with a DJ at the radio station..he is also the voice of Chef on South Park. I could listen to that man talk all day...that voice!

Willem Dafoe...I saw him on Varick St. Carrying a tin lunchbox...he is wicked short.

Tiger Woods walked right past me at a charity event in NYC. He must not have been feeling well because he looked terrible.

When Anna Nicole Smith was at the heighth of her modeling career, I saw her in the Minneapolis airport. She was a total snot to her entourage.

Stephen King. I saw him around X-Mas time in NYC on Madison by Central Park. I SOOOOO wanted to talk to him (I've decided before I die that I want to stalk him for an hour) but the guy I was with said that SK was walking with his head down for a reason...he didn't want to be notice. How could you not notice him? He had on a high school letterjacket from where he went to high school and that frumpy haircut.

You mean Jay-Z? He's considered one of the top Rap Artists of all time. Owns part of the NJ Nets (soon to be Brooklyn team) He's also Beyonce's boyfriend. He's really famous now. But I guess at the time of Hardknock life he wasn't as well known to some. Cool sighting:)

Cool thread! I've had a couple of sightings:

1. Minnie Driver in the lobby of the Chateau Mormont (I'm completely spelling it wrong). I was staying at the hotel for a business trip and my boss and I and a couple of other people were hanging out in the lobby having drinks before dinner and she came in to hang out also. She was with a friend who had this huge dog.. My boss was a little tipsy and is this major animal lover. well she was all over the dog and we were looking at her "like do you know who that is?!?!" Thankfully Minnie was nice about it. She is tall and beautiful in person.
2. The next night I saw Claire Danes. Now this is the funny part she got up and walked away from her friends. well 5 minutes later I got up and went to the bathroom not knowing at all that's where she went because how would I. Well as I was coming in she was coming out of a stall and must have been freaked that she was all alone with a commoner because she immediately left without washing her hands!! HOW GROSS! All I had to do was pee Claire I did not want your autograph.
3. Harrison Ford came into a studio where I was working in NY. He is like 15 feet tall!
4. Naomi Campbell - she looked at me like she knew who I was for a second then when she realized I was a nobody she turned her had away.
5. Cindy Crawford - she was walking down a street in NY and passed me and my friend she had a hat pulled very low over her eyes and only her nose and that mole were visible. thankfully my friend is only 5'1" and could see under her hat and told me it was her. Her legs are like a mile long.
6. Tracey Ellis Ross - she is extremely pretty in person
7. This is a psuedo-celebrity or rather D list. I saw the guy from Road Rules, one of the earlier additions, he had the dreds and started dating this girl (can't remember her name) anyway he was bartending at a club I went to. Those 15 minutes did not last long.

"You mean Jay-Z? He's considered one of the top Rap Artists of all time. Owns part of the NJ Nets (soon to be Brooklyn team) He's also Beyonce's boyfriend. He's really famous now. But I guess at the time of Hardknock life he wasn't as well known to some."

Holy Crap!!! And he was SUPER nice. We were talking in the elevator and we walked out of the building together. Rap music wasn't my thing and his surprise was genuine when I told him I had no idea who he was (and this was about 7 or 8 years ago). Damn having to go to Iowa to see my family!!! :D

I also rode the elevator of that same building with Danny Glover. He stared straight ahead and didn't say a word.

Last week I saw Scarlett Johansson at London Heathrow at Boots. SHe was with a guy but it wasn't Josh Harnett and I can't figure out where I have seen him. I think he's an actor but FH thinks he's a model. She looks totally normal without makeup. It was actually my FH that recognised her.

I saw Alyson Hannigan last year at Selfridge's in London. I actually have a picture with her. The same day as I was going into Selfridge's I saw Ewan McGregror with his 2 kids.

A loooooong time ago I saw John Goodman at FAO Schwartz in manhattan. He'e HUGE. It was impossible not to see him bc he towered over everyone else at the store.

Just got this email from my mom! My sister and her DH......went to Vermont this weekend and had dinner seated next to Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban. I'll give you all the scoop later, but [sister] says Nicole in BONE skinny and her hair is way over processed. She also said that it very clear that they are both nuts about each other and Nic's ring is as big as her garage.

Earlier today I had to run out to the grocery store to pick up the missing ingredients for dinner. After talking with Richard on the cell for about 15 minutes in the parking lot (he was on lunch break and wanted to know if our guests made it out okay), I headed in, first hitting up Starbucks thinking a latte might help my migraine.

Well, just as I'm rollling my cart up the cashier, I notice someone that looks a LOT like Joaquin Phoenix (especially in this (http://www.joaquin-phoenix.net/pics/public/toronto0502.jpg) and this (http://i.imdb.com/mptv1.gif) picture - same suit minus the tie, and looking like he needs a haircut - stupid picture won't post!). I wasn't 100% sure it was him, I mean I DO see plenty of "stars" at our local grocery store - Zelda Rubinstein from Poltergeist, Ryan Cabrera, Steven Valentine from Crossing Jordan, William Fichtner from Invasion (most recently, but also Mr & Mrs Smith), so it's not that far from ordinary.

So of course, I had to pick Richard up some banannas and see if I could either hear his voice or notice his scar. So there I was peeking at him over the banannas. I was going to get in line behind him (and his young friend), but I thought it would be pretty obvious. So I notice that he has a scar, but dingbat me, I wasn't sure if it was in the "right" place. Turns out it was. Duh.

Not a physical sighting, but this morning Star Jones was being interviewed on the Philly radio show I listen to. She was so obnoxious. When she hung up they started making fun of her. They counted and she said "I'm a lawyer by training" twenty-some times.

While Hubby and I were in New York, Christmas 2004, we were walking through Times Square early in the morning. . .hardly anyone else out. We were walking by a group of people and I saw a huge camera . . .so I said "Maybe it is someone famous." DH kept walking. I kept looking, and saw "WWE" (wrestling) on the side of the camera, so I holler out to DH, "Hey, it is a wrestler." That made him come running (he is a wrestling fan). So we stood there and watched for a while, DH says "HEY, that's Ivory". (I don't think she wrestles anymore, could be wrong though). They were recording some small skit for the New Years show. . .well, after that, we hollered over to her to see if she would talk to us. Well, she did, and we got her autograph and talked to her for a while. (No one else was around, so we had her all to ourselves). She was super sweet, nice and pleasant, and EXTREMELY gorgeous! :) It was just an all around neat experience.

We have pictures too! :)

Notice Hubby's HUGE smile. . .hehe

I attended a reception last night with Ana Gasteyer, from "SNL" and "Mean Girls." She's starring as Elphaba in "Wicked" here in Chicago and went to the same small private school in Washington DC as I did. As an alumni club event, we saw the show and had a private reception with Ana afterwards. She is awesome! So funny and boy, can she sing! Plus, she was so lovely at the reception, signing autographs and answering questions. She signed my program and we chatted about being a mom in Chicago -- her daughter is a year older than mine.

A few years ago DH & I were waiting in line at McDonald's for breakfast in Biloxi, MS. The workers weren't working too hard to we had to stand to the side and wait for our food. That's when I noticed Alice Cooper standing next to me. He was waiting for his food too. It took awhile for me to notice him because his hair was up, wearing a hat, and nice golf clothes. Turns out he's an avid golfer and he was giving a concert at one of the casinos that night. The McDonald's employees were just as rude to him as they were to us!

I got to meet 5 celebrities last week at a corporate event. I didn't have my camera with me, so I've got to get some pics from my coworkers.

First, Jay Leno was the entertainment at our dinner gala. Great show..he did about an hour performance. He seemed thinner on stage than he looks on TV, so i guess the 10 pounds thinkg must be true.

Then 4 NASCAR drivers. Ryan Newman, Tony Stewart, Casey Kahne and Jimmie Johnson. I actually had conversations with them, they're pretty nice guys but they are all tiny!!!

This thread is awesome!

When I was in college, I interned in the wardrobe department of Spy Kids 2. It was filmed mostly in Austin. Antonio Banderas had a whole room for his clothes and shoes! I was allowed only for a short period of time to watch him film a scene and I only saw him from a distance. I picked out earrings for the co-star, Carla Gugino. I also saw Mike Judge in person - very tall. Saw Robert Rodriguez a couple of times. The kids in the movie were around a lot but I never paid any attention to them. I heard Melanie Griffith was around and very protective of her Antonio.

My husband met Peyton Manning (QB for Indianapolis Colts) at a bar in Atlanta a few years ago. He said Peyton was really cool and down to earth.

This is showing my age but I met Debra Winger (Terms of Endearment & Officer & a Gentleman) and she put my hair in a pony tail. My mom has some really cool pictures of her but most of them have her wearing those black joke glasses with the big nose.

I live in LA and spot celebrities all the time. Like it's almost weird...and I'm so not a celeb stalker, either (I'm a teacher!). The latest was this weekend, when 2 things happened: 1. I saw Minnie Driver crossing the street in Santa Monica near the Farmers Market and 2. (even better!) I was picking a friend up (whose birthday it happened to be) at LAX when we saw someone who looked suspiciously like Jack Johnson on the sidewalk. We were stopped in front of where he was standing, so my friend asked if he was, indeed, Jack Johnson (she's a big fan). He said he was--she's got good eyes...I never would have known!

DH took me to IHop in Salem, NH last year for our 1st wedding anniversary. We were sitting in a booth joking around when DH said "Dont look now but sully [lead singer of Godsmack] just walked in" I was like "What?" I totally didnt believe him bc we had just been joking around.. He keeps staring & says "he is sitting 3 booths behind you!" I turn around and there sully is having breakfast with his daughter. He was very sweet and made a face at her food as if to say "Oh look how delicious!" When we were leaving I turned to get a better look at him. I would have never went up to him bc he's just trying to have a nice meal with his daughter. On our way out we spotted his car.. It was a Mercedes and the license plate said 'SMACK'.

DH then jokingly said "Thats your anniversary present from me" lol how funny.

She looked just like she looks in most of the pics lately - not "put together". Messy hair, smeared eye makeup & frumpy clothes. If you go to the britney thread, there are some pics of her playing craps in vegas & that is where she was right before she got on the escalator. The people in front of me told me they were just watching her play. And Kevin was way smaller thatn i thought he was - short and skinny looking.

Okay, these have been a while ago, but sightings none-the-less!

Reba McIntire~My dad went to college with her. He was a freshman, and she was a senior. Also, she appears in one of the local parades there every year, so I got to see her quite a bit when I was younger. While visiting my grandparents, she sang the national anthem at one of the rodeos we attended!

Jennifer Knapp~I met her at church camp in middle school. She signed her demo album for me and later sent me a free CD after she started really making a name for herself!

Dennis Rodman~My grandma was a non-traditional student and attended college at the same time as Dennis. She and my grandfather used to go to his collegiate b-ball games. She told me he was a very nice and respectable young man at the time!

X-posted from my journal:

Guess who I just met? Twice!
Robin Williams.
I was just cleaning up at about 4:30 and he came in with a producer and he had his bike with him. I was introduced, which was cool and then he said he was going back to his hotel, but he had just wanted to meet our Commissioner who wasn't in. ( I work at a local film commission) So that was that. Then, when I was walking to the train, he was outside the Hotel Vancouver, getting rocks out of his shoes and getting ready to go for a bikeride, it looked like, and he said "Hey Sarah, need a ride?" (Probably becuase I was huffing and puffing a bit) I just smiled and said I didn't think it was a good idea. He told me he was just heading out to ride the Seawall and that he hoped I made it home safely. Cool, huh?

Well I didn't see her, but my little bro works at a local country radio station and he was sharing the elevator with Andie McDowall. He didn't recognize her so when he got to the station he was like "I just saw this lady that looks so familiar." And the DJ said, "That was Andie McDowall, you know, from Groundhog Day?...." He is too young to know that movie, but he said, Oh she was is Multiplicity with Michael Keaton right? (He loves that movie) The DJ said, yeah her husband owns a couple car dealerships in Naples and she was there doing some advertising.

But I am so jealous of my bro. Working at a radio station - he meets everyone!

I forgot to post my celebrity sighting in here!

My husband and I recently vacationed in New Zealand. While we were in Queenstown, I hit the gym for a workout. While I was doing weights, there was a guy lifting and doing walking lunges who looked a lot like Ryan Reynolds. I blew it off though, because I thought he looked too young (I did stare for a long time though - he was mighty good-looking!!!).

Then, I got on the elliptical machine and in front of the ellipticals was a row of five bikes and some TVs up on the wall. There was this girl riding the bike and watching the TV and had this strange, vacant-looking smile on her face. I thought to myself, "that's a weird chick!" Well, when she got off the bike, I was able to see her whole face and realized it was Alanis Morrissette!!

Ryan and Alanis walked out together, and I was too chicken to ask for an autograph.

Pretty cool!

Oh, and I remember thinking she looks a lot like Evangeline Lilly from Lost.

I work at a cable network, so celebs come in all the time and are always in our lobby. Outside of work I see a ton of celebrities at grocery stores and bars. On Saturday morning I saw the hot quarterback from the movie Blue Crush, he's also in that tv show What About Brian at Starbucks. I think his name is Matt, because that is what they wrote on his cup. I saw George Clooney on my birthday at a bar around the corner from my house. He was nice to EVERYONE! I also saw Eric Benai (sp?) Halle Berry's ex husband at the same bar. Scott Baio, Jennifer Love Hewitt, and a few other C/D list stars hang out there a lot too. It's always fun to see celebrities!

She was so upset. She started to cry and left to go home (she was a little drunk). I've stopped liking him ever since.

Oh Pat Burrell is gorgeous! But I have also heard he is a real jerk. My sister knows a girl who hooked up with him (I'm originally from Philly).

Chris Noth is so hot.

That is all.

Totally. I see him all the time-he lives right near where I work. Also his gym is down the street. One time I was walking on down the street and he was walking right toward me and we were the only people on the street at the time. I totally BLUSHED.

many yeas ago I attended a play opening where SJP and CN showed up too. He's very nice looking. :)

Since I've moved to a job on the upper east side, I've been seeing recognizable faces more often. So far: Ellen Burstyn (sp?), Matt Lauer, Liza Minnelli and Stone Phillips.

What does Matt Lauer look like in person? Pretty much the same as on tv? I have a crush on him - I don't know what it is but I find his voice very soothing. :)

We just spotted Gary Busey at the Minneapolis airport on Sunday. Would have never noticed him but he was sitting on the floor in a circle with a group of woman - it just was kind of odd. But then again - isn't he a little odd? :p

http://www.vh1.com/sitewide/showimages/celebrity_fit_club_2/gary_111x71.jpg

As far as other celebs - I did see Wynonna in the Philly airport a few years ago. And even before that - I won a trip to the Grammy's but was a bit too tipsy at the event to pay attention to who was around me. I'm pretty sure I did brush up against Gwen Stefani though.

My sister has seen many people in Atlanta. She helped out Vern Zip with a segment he was taping for Oprah. And then she used to "dine" with Ty Pennington quite often at a favorite breakfast spot. I think she said Alton Brown (from the Food Network) was a regular at another store that she was running.

I went to a Broadway show last week and the star of the show was Debbie Allen and her former NBA husband, Norm Nixon's daugter, Vivian. It was the closing of the show, so I thought to myself that her family would there to support her. I looked around and 2 rows behind me, there I saw Debbie Allen, Norm Nixon, and Debbie's sister, Phylicia Rashad.

After the show, I got a chance to meet all of them since they were so close. They were all very very nice and super friendly. I got a picture of Phylicia Rashad, but as soon as I snapped it, someone called her name and she turned her head. Dang. ;)

I love seeing celebrities when they look like normal people :D. How fun -- whenever I travel I'm on the lookout, but rarely have sightings randomly.

I did see Jeremy Piven drop the first puck at the Blackhawks game a couple of weeks ago, but so did everyone else there. I've seen Jennifer Aniston here in Chicago on a couple of occasions when she was not completely done up, and she always looks great -- she is really tiny.

The FH of one of the ladies I work with worked as a bodyguard for Madonna's kids one night. He said that the kids were extremely well behaved, and that Lourdes was obsessed with her own image. She checked herself out at every opportunity and was constantly playing with her hair. My work friend said that if your mom is Madonna you can definitely afford to be vain!

When I was down in NYC two weeks ago visiting my sister, we were in a Starbuck's in Greenwich and Renee Zellewegar asked my sister if she was in line! She is beautiful up close even without movie make-up on. And she was very gracious, chatting with another customer. She was trying to keep her head down, but the man she was speaking to asked her if she was Renee Zellewegar and she smiled and nodded yes, but said no. I think he got the idea she was trying to be inconspicuous (sp?) and left it at that.

I was a manager at a sports-themed restaurant a few years ago, and we had lots of pro and retired pro football players in an out. But the most fun was Charles Barkley - he's from Birmingham (where I worked at the time) so everyone's used to seeing him around, but you would still always see people whispering and looking. I was impressed, though - I had spoken to him in our restaurant a couple of times, just "How is everything?" kind of stuff, but I ran into him at another restaurant one night and he recognized me. Not by name, of course, but he spoke and told me he was coming to Wings while he was in town (he did, but I wasn't there when he did). Definitely pretty impressive.

Because of my job, I see and encounter a fair amount of movie celebs, so I don't really count those. However, when I went to see Eddie Izzard in concert, Keanu Reeves was there! I had to tell my sister carefully, so she wouldn't make an idiot of herself. ;)

My only celeb sighting (which happened recently) was in Arizona. I was on a business trip, and one morning I went to have the continental breakfast they serve in the hotel, and who should be sitting at a table eating breakfast like a normal human? Sean Penn!! I was so excited...that's all I could talk about the entire day. It made me feel like a giddy school girl - lol.

Walked by Taye Diggs in my neighborhood recently as he was checking his Blackberry and my heart skipped a beat. Is he not the most gorgeous man on the planet or what?

Saw James Gandolfini at a steak house a couple weeks ago.

Was at a launch party recently with Liv Tyler, Freddie Prinze Jr. and John Legend (but it's not like I hung out with them).

jh124 - LOL!

I have worked in professional sports in the past, so I have met a lot of 'sports' celebrities through that line of work. However, my biggest thrill was probably meeting John Travolta on an overseas flight. There was next to no one on the flight, so we got to talk a long while. This was about 17 years ago so he was just 'coming back' with the Look Who's Talking movies. (I was only 16 at the time, so of course I talked with him about how much I liked Grease! sigh, I am a dork!)

The funniest part of meeting John Travolta however was my dad! Mr. Travolta turned to my dad (who was sitting across the aisle from me) and said "How are you doing sir?" to which my dad said "Hi! We know John Denver!" :o (my dad thought that since Travolta and Denver were both pilots, that this was relevant! LOL) :)

I just ran into John Bruce from TLC's While You Were Out at a furniture store. He just came into Chicago last night and was leaving later today to go back home. He was EXTREMELY nice. He actually came up to me and asked what I was looking for. I told him we had a 1920's house and he walked me around showing me what he would put in the house. What is funny is that no more than 10 minutes earlier I had showed my DH one of the pieces John showed me and DH hated it!! I have to admit I was star struck, I was so digging him. I got an autograph for me and also for my interior designer friend. John offered to sign for me--I didn't even have to ask him.

One funny thing I noticed...his jeans had zippers on the back, going all the way up the calves. Now that was one trend from the 80's that I hoped would NEVER come back!!

i miss living in NYC! i used to see a fair amount of celebs - i lived near gramercy park so i saw julia roberts once and uma/ethan and kids a few times back when they were still together ( and they were so dirty and unkempt looking - yuck!)

i played soccer in the bronx with julia stiles (on different teams) in a random intramural league, i thought it was cool that she did that and usually made it to most of the games.

i also hung out with tom brady (NE patriots QB) for a bit at a movie premier party. i admit my friend and i had a few drinks in us and ended up stalking him but he was a really nice guy, even a little nerdy. and rubbed elbows with matt damon at a similar party but he was engrossed in coversation with some blonde girl (not his GF at the time, odessa something who was ben afflecks assistant) so we didnt want to bother him. the next day i saw him take same blonde-girl into his trailer on the set of the movie they were filming.

one of DH's good friends is a movie producer so DH got to hang out with cameron diaz (said she is very cool), woody harrelson (also cool) and matt dillon (who was a jerk and had his shirt unbuttoned down to his belly button the whole night).

DH and I saw William H. Macy jogging in Santa Fe while on our honeymoon. We were in the car waiting at a red light, and he jogged right by our car. I wouldn't have noticed him except DH mentioned "that guy in the funny-looking fisherman's hat" and that's when we both realized who he was.

OMG! Totally forgot about my NY sightings last September. In one hour, I walked part Dylan McDermott coming out of a Dean & DeLuca's. When I hit the corner two blocks away, Ralph Fiennes was walking toward me - in a T-shirt, and had his hand up the shirt, touching his chest (sounds weird, but was normal). I got a glance at his abs. Although I prefer brother Joseph for pure beauty, Ralph made me double take. :)

I forgot to mention two celeb sitings I had this week.

On our way home from Pasadena the other evening, I saw Dr. Bunsen and Beaker. The were filming something and the "garage" door was open for the filming, so from the freeway, you could look over to the Disney R&D buildings and see them.

Wednesday night we decided to head over to Re$iduals in Studio City (an old time actor bar) for some beers after the Stones show. I've never been before, but Richard and my friend have gone many times since it's walking distance to her place. Being the night before Thanksgiving it was pretty dead. But we did see John Amos (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0025309) - everyone's favorite dad from Good Times and more recently, the pilot on Men in Trees. He was really cool and talking to everyone. We saw a few other people that we recognized, but not enough to know names or shows.

I'm back in NY. I don't know if this counts as celebrity sighting, really, since I was at a celebrity event (not as if I just ran into them). Last night, at the Gotham Awards (awards for independent film) and saw:

Ooooh! I have a celebrity sighting to report!

I live just north of Orlando and this past Saturday afternoon, DH and I decided to go around to several of the resorts at Walt Disney World to admire their spectacular holiday decorations. We were at the Grand Floridian, our last stop of the day, and spotted Kelly Ripa with daughter in tow, wandering through the lobby. She is sooooooooo tiny! Short and petite as can be. And she seemed really nice too, posing for pictures with random tourists, smiling warmly at everyone while she went about her business. I didn't get a picture, unfortunately. DH and I aren't really fans of Regis & Kelly and we didn't want to bother her. But it was neat to have a celebrity sighting!

Oh, by the way, we learned that she was at WDW because she was filming a Christmas episode of Regis & Kelly.

I ran into CarrotTop (sp?) at the airport one day. We were both at the dvd-rental booth. He was talking to the guy behind the counter and mentioned War of the Worlds - he asked if the guy or I saw it. I said no, that I was 'so over Tom Cruise'... he laughed and then asked if I'd seen Batman Begins... I said yes and that he HAD to see it - that it was the best superhero movie I'd ever seen... I went on and on... we laughed...

All I could think of was why was this guy wearing black eyeliner and mascara? And he was wrinkly in the eyes - and it didn't look right to me.

I didn't realize it was carrot top... I was just being my usual talkative and open self - chattering away in conversation with him (until he gave away the ending to War of the Worlds)...

He was cool though - but I had NO idea who he was...

This girl came up to me later and was like, 'was that carrot top?' It struck me and I said... 'ohhhhhhhhhhhh!'

It was funny. The guy behind the counter was laughing, I was laughing... we looked at carrot top and he was laughing.

Hilarious.

I'm always running into celebs and not knowing who they are, lol.

Around 10:30 this morning, on my way to work (I have been working until really late). She was standing outside The Little Pie Company area on 43rd Street, drinking coffee and talking to someone. Hair pulled back, no make-up, and looking gorgeous! I live in one of those neighborhoods where everyone says, "Hello," to everyone else, so I said, "Hello," as I passed her, not quite placing her. She smiled (dazzling smile), looked a bit confused, and said, "Hello." I was past her by then, and as I hit the corner of 43rd and 9th, I realized who I had just seen!

I just got back from Maui last Friday and while there I was hanging out by the pool. I was collecting my things to go back to my room and Steven Tyler and his girlfriend were there. He was taking a picture of her. He walked past me and you know how you just catch eye contact and say "hi?" We said "hey" then he asked me what happened to my fingers! (I had three fractured fingers in splints.) He was so nice and I couldn't help but look at his lips every so often. His girlfriend was also really nice. The past drug use is definitely catching up to him. He is also a really small guy.

I went to the Justin Timberlake concert in Tampa 2 nights ago and I saw Derek Jeter and Johnny Wright (used to be N'Sync's manager). Johnny walked passed us literally like 30 times and shook our hands a couple times.

And I am going to Justin's concert in Ft Lauderdale on Sunday and I have a VIP ticket so hopefully I will get to shake his hand too! :p

Last week I saw Travis Barker at Casa Vega (mexican restaurant in Sherman Oaks, CA) and yesterday I saw Jane Sibbett at the Ralphs near my house. She has been in a lot of movies and she played Ross' ex-wife (the lesbian one) on Friends. She was cute! She was shopping with an older woman who I guess was her mom and she made her put back the asparagus cause it was too expensive. ;)

Yesterday on a flight from Newark to Sarasota I was seated across the aisle from Geraldo Rivera, his wife and baby daughter. His daughter screamed for a large portion of the flight while he and his wife tried to subdue her. And I purposely bought a first class seat so that I'd be able to really rest on the flight--oh well!

My husband and I were recently in Hawaii and visited the USS Arizona Memorial. While on the memorial over the Arizona we saw Gary Sinise (Forrest Gump & CSI: New York); he was getting his own private tour of the memorial. He seemed very friendly and even let other visitors take their picture with him.

Last Saturday night, spotted Randy Harrison (Justin, from Queer as Folk at Lincoln Center's production of Dying City by Christopher Shinn. He was at the show with a female friend sitting a few rows behind DH and I. He's very cute in person, but much shorter than he looks on TV!

I went to a charity event where Ted Turner was being honored, and got to see Ted, Al Roker, and Charlie Rose (also Daniel Boulud, the chef behind NY"s Daniel). I think (hope) Ted Turner was drunk, because his speech was ridiculous. It actually included the line, "I don't like land mines ... because they hurt people."

This was over a year ago, but we (about 12 of us) went to see Henry Rollins during one of his speaking tours and hung out and met him afterwards. He was BEYOND nice and waited (it was pretty cold, being December in WI!) until everyone who wanted to talk to him got to (about 2 hours). Not very tall, but very attractive.

At The Grove mall (see above Kevin Walker sighting) Paris and Nikki Hilton going to the movies. Day after her court hearing - it was a bit odd. And Nikki was wearing some stripper heels. I didn't get a good look at Paris, but Nikki is cute - if too made up, but cute.

There is a crew in town getting ready to start fliming the movie for the Nicholas Sparks book Nights In Rodanthe, which takes place here. Richard Gere is playing the male lead, and he's staying at an inn about 3 min from my house. I haven't seen him yet, but a good friend of mine did. I have seen a TON of people here that are associated with the movie. They've got about 2/3 of one of our local hotels booked out. Last week they had an open casting call for extras - but I didn't go. :) Diane Lane is supposed to be the leading lady, but I'm not sure if she was in town or not.

kd she started the conversation :) so that seemed nice.. she heard me point out the garbage truck to DD and turned around (they were already looking at it) to say what is it w/kids and garbage trucks!

I was blathering on saying its great to have to something to distract them with (my dd doesn't like being buckled in her stroller and that is what DH was doing) and I realized as I spoke I who I was speaking too so my face must have changed and she gave me a smile since she probably realized that I realized who she was :) ha ha

I'm one of those people that will talk to nearly anyone, especially in line at the coffee shop, and on more than one occasion I've later realized that the person I was talking to was *someone* Doco, I've gotten that "yeah it's me" sort of look before as well. It's pretty funny when you look back on it. Glad to hear she Edie was so cool

So the film crews for Nights In Rodanthe have been all over town lately. This morning a friend of mine was at work at a local (small) restaurant in our downtown area when Diane Lane who is cast as the leading lady came in for breakfast. She said she seemd nice and was shocked that our newspaper cost $.75 (apparently its cheaper in other places??)..lol.

Katy Some famous designer does 4-5 inch heels and the heel is pewter or something like that. Anyway...leave it to the Hilton girls  I described the shoes to my co-worker, and she said they were designer.

Tracy Jordan at The Grove this Saturday!! He looked stoned according to my Hus. I was really excited about this sighting...

OK, cool. So she was 23 when the show first aired and 29 when it ended. I guess she was only slightly older than the average college student back then. Hmm... She is always seemed older to me but she's the same age as Marisa Tomei and only three years older than Lisa Bonet (her co-stars when the show started). I stand corrected! :p

So I went to Panera with a girlfriend from work on my break tonight. We pulled up and walked inside and I really didn't quite notice the 3 ladies chatting and eating dinner at an outside table. After we picked up our food and walked out, there was a woman talking to these ladies and one of them was standing up. I got in the car and then turned to my girlfriend and said "oh my gosh, I think that's Kirsti Alley". Sure enough, it was. My friend yells out the window "You look great Kirsti". lol, it was pretty funny. i thought about taking a picture, but she was trying to have a quiet dinner with her friends, and i didn't want to bug her.

I'm pretty excited that I get to post this (in two threads, no less):

I saw Brangelina! O.K., I have to admit that I am in Cannes for the film festival, so it was easier than some other time. But still, not on the red carpet for her film (which I missed seeing), but before. They show premiere movies twice, the evening is the black tie, red carpet, but in the same morning, there is a showing with less hoopla. So she was there for her first showing and after, was doing an interview.

I was walking into a secured area (you have to show credentials to get there) and notices a lot of paparazzi. Took me a minute to figure out who, but then I decided to sit down and watch how it went. About ten minutes later, soem security guards walk down the steps from the building, followed by Brad and Angelina, holding hands. It was surprisingly civilized. They walked down, not in any particular hurry, but not stopping. People took a thousand pictures and called there name, but no real pushing and shoving. They got into their car and drove away. It was all over in about 5 minutes.

They looked good - very French Riviera, her in a nice dress, him in a linen(?) suit.

I saw Emmanuel Lewis at a restaurant last weekend. It was funny because I noticed him right away but I thought he was a kid out with his mom. I finally have a non (mostly) work sighting!

Today, I was having a cocktail meeting at L'ermitage in Beverly Hills. When it was over, I walked out to find Ben Affleck waiting for valet! And as I drove by, he was in his car, with the window down (it's blazing hot here) and making a phone call (probably calling Jen to see if he should pick up ice cream :D ). As usual, he was dressed pretty bummy and had a baseball hat on. Still, I was pleasantly surprised to see him.

Boy is he ever handsome, and boy is he ever tall. Yummy!
