Food cravings – I have a new love for steak. I’ve always loved it, but now I want it everyday. I use to eat them well done, but now I want them medium. I need to add to my list of questions if eating steak medium is okay. I also love salads.

Amurphy – I read the same thing on Babycenter. I love my maternity clothes. I have a few pair that I can wear now with a problem, although the pants I put on today are a little big. They keep falling down. They are the under the belly kind, but the hip area is too wide. I love the pants, but I can’t imagine my hips getting any wider or my butt getting any bigger.

Sunshine – so far the emotional roller coaster has not hit.

A new thread…the second trimester…how exciting.

bottleored ~ Thanks so much for the new thread! Sorry I've been slacking lately.

I've been feeling crappy again. Especially in the evenings. I HATE trying to eat supper. Nothing ever sounds or tastes good. Oh well. I know the end result is worth all the annoying symptoms.

I also need to update my gender prediction to girl!

Just avoiding work and checking into the new thread!

ds2003, I was told to only eat well done everything, including red meat. For steak I think the risk is toxoplasmosis but I'm not sure how common that is. I admit that I love my steak medium rare and I have eaten a few less than well-done steak meals since becoming pg.

[b]starving but nothing sounds good[b] I have this happen all the time. The worst is if I don't pack my lunch and have to figure out what to go get. My nausea has never been that bad, but it's definitely still there. I think it is getting better though because I'm going through a lot fewer sour altoids than I was before.

Good morning. It is sooooo cold here. I keep thinking about next winter and realizing that I won't have to drag myself out to work in weather like this, but can stay home and be cozy with a baby. Yes, I know I'm probably glamourizing the SAHM thing, but scraping off my car when it's 12 below would make a lot of unglamourous things look pretty good. Brrrr. And now I'm sitting as close to my space heater as I can without catching my pants on fire.

Speaking of SAH, I think Jad mentioned earlier about talking to work and what to do if someone asks if you're planning to come back. That's a good question. My boss knows, but she seems to think that it's a given that I'm coming back. DH and I talked before we got married and decided that I would SAH, and that is still our plan, but I'm a little concerned about how and when to break the news here since everybody thinks I'll be back. I guess I haven't had enough worries lately, so I'll concentrate on that one. :rolleyes:

I'm doing pretty well in the food category now, although for a while there were only certain things that appealed. A nice, juicy steak sounds really good to me lately *drool*, although I have to agree with DS2003 that well-done isn't really the way I would choose to have it cooked. I've had a couple bouts of dizziness in the morning, so I'm wondering if that and my craving for red meat don't indicate that perhaps I'm not getting enough iron.

I'm afraid I'm in maternity pants for good now- mostly adjustable ones that are on the smallest setting. Unfortunately, I don't have very many pairs, and they all seem to be really thin fabric. This weather we're having isn't going to last, but I'm sure it'll be back come January or February. I'd like to find some cords. I'm hoping my mom and dad give me a gift card to Motherhood, or at least some store that carries maternity, for Christmas.

Has anyone else been asked if they've felt the baby? I've had several people ask me that lately (people who've been pg themselves), but I always thought that happened closer to 20 weeks. Maybe I just look farther along to people than I really am.:(

12 weeks today.

Wishing everyone a great second trimester. Hoping this will be the month some of us get relief from the dreaded morning sickness we've been suffering from.

Thank you all for your responses on sharp pains. I seem to get them the worse in bed, when rolling over!

Shouldeloped It was awesome to hear the h/b! And I definetly was goign to take them up on going back in 2weeks! heehee! I am glad you got to see your little baby!

Food Alot of the time nothing sounds good, or there is one thing that I just have to have! Salad has been sounding good lately too!

Dizziness It is common to feel dizzy if you stand up to fast. It happens to me all the time.

Threadmistresses ~ Bottleored and Kaeden's Mommy, thanks for starting the new thread. I think we are all excited to be a part of this one and to have finally made it.

Gaffy ~ You and I are due date buddies. I must admit that I'm thoroughly looking forward to being 15 weeks, there is just something about reaching that point *finally* that makes me happy.

Food cravings ~ I can honestly say that I have not had many food cravings lately. NOTHING sounds good to me, except plain ripple chips or tortilla chips.

I've been feeling AWFUL the last week and a bit. DH brought home the stomach flu last week and felt the need to share it with me. At first I just thought it was morning sickness, but by the third morning of being sick first thing, I determined it must be more than M/S. Especially since I had literally no energy to get out of bed.

Feeling a little better today, although still not quite myself.

Which brings me to my question...Has anyone lost a significant amount of weight while pregnant? Is it something to be worried about?

I have been feeling off for about a week and a half, where nothing really sounds good and I find I can't eat alot (less than half of what I used to be able to eat.) So in the two weeks since my Midwife appointment I have lost close to 6 pounds.

This puts me at my lowest weight in about a year...and 5 pounds under my pre-pg weight (as I had only gained 1 pound.)

So is this something I should be worried about? Should I be doing something about it? I mean, who wouldn't be thrilled to lose some weight...any other time I'd be ecstatic, but not now. And today, I comfortably fit back into my pre-pg pants (although they are the big ones) and I'm feeling like my noticeable belly last week has suddenly gone down.

Oh the things we worry about (and I swore I wouldn't be one of *those* pg-women) but I am a little worried. Any advise is welcome.

Other than that, very excited to be into the 2nd Trimester My next big deal will be feeling the baby, which I've heard can start anywhere from 14 weeks to 22 weeks. Hopefully mine will be sooner rather than later, but can't wait for that next milestone.

Yes, I have. Right now I'm down about 6lbs. from my pre-pg weight, but a few weeks ago I was down 8lbs. For me, its mainly due to the m/s and not being able to hold anything down. The only thing thats working for me right now is PB&J sandwiches. I know it sounds weird, but it the only thing that I can eat right now..whatever works I guess. :rolleyes: Although I did lose some weight, I had an ultrasound last week and the baby is growing just fine. :)

I wouldn't worry too much about losing weight. My Dr. says its perfectly normal esp. in the 1st trimester. As long as you are staying hydrated and eating when you can, you and your baby should be fine. :)

Thanks for the new thread! I'm still a week away from the official 2nd tri (40w divided by 3 = 13w 3 d according to my ob, though she rounds down to 13), but I am excited to see us moving forward! Can you believe the August thread has EDDs all the way to the 25th?

I can't keep up with everyone so I will just answer the Q about fetal movement. It really varies for first time moms. Your OB will probably tell you not to expect to feel the baby until the early 20s (20-24w). I think I was about 20-21 weeks when I first felt Rachel. But 2nd timers often feel the baby sooner and that was true for me. I was only about 14 weeks when I felt Wyatt. (Of course he was also more of a "kicker" whereas Rachel was a "wiggler").

feeling the baby- my mom asked me if I felt quickening yet. Apparently she has forgotten that it is too early to feel anything. I’ve read that it can start as early as 16 weeks for 1st time moms. Earlier for subsequent births since you know what it feels like. Feeling the baby is going to be such an amazing experience. I wish I could capture the feeling in a bottle.

maternity clothes I’m pretty much only wearing maternity pants thanks to the generous clothes donation of my cousin. Most of the pants are too big right now, but between the 2 pair of pants and the skirt I bought, I have 5 pair of pants and 1 skirt that I can wear now although the ones I have on today are a tad big.

loosing weight[b] I haven’t lost much weight, maybe 2-3 lbs in the beginning. Now I’m slowly gaining it back. I never had a m/s problem so I’ve always eaten what I wanted. In the beginning I just couldn’t get enough food and was always hungry.[b]Mrs. Brownie If you are worried, call your midwife and ask her if you should be concerned.

I’m getting excited for my next appt. I’ll hear the h/b again in one week and this time DH will be able to go.

My doc told me that I would have the big u/s between 18-22 weeks. Who made or will make the decision of whether you have the u/s earlier or later? My u/s appt is scheduled separately from my OB visit although it will be done right in the office. If you will make the decision, what factors will affect your decision?

I like 18 weeks simply because I get to see the baby sooner, but if I wait 4 more weeks the baby will have developed more. Based on my current appt schedule, I will have an appt at 17 weeks. I could push it out a week and schedule my appt and u/s at 18 weeks…or I could just wait until my 21 week appt. It will probably come down to DH’s schedule and my patience or lack of.

Good afternoon ladies!

I hope everyone joins us over here - no need to wait till you feel like you're in the 2nd trimester!

I'm happy to say that I do feel like I'm in the 2nd trimester because, since the weekend, I've had more energy and almost no nausea. Over 4 days straight! I am really pulling for the ladies who are still suffering. I really do empathize. I'm still cautious but optimistic!

Had my first official OB appointment last week. It went well, but she rushed through the u/s (my OB did it and it was transvaginal w/no sound :mad: ) just to confirm measurements. We did see the h/b and my DH saw the baby move for the first time.

I had the Nuchal Translucency screening on Friday (same as sarahncraig). Everything looked good, but official results won't be in until later in the week. My next OB appointment (16w) is Dec. 28th. I'm sure we'll hear the h/b then.

belly/shots/maternity clothes I still don't feel like I'm showing at all. My pants still fit, although I'm not wearing the ones that are more 'snug'. Although it seems to be the same size, my belly is feeling a little more 'firm'. No belly shots yet. I just keep forgetting. I've been collecting maternity clothes from friends (in varying sizes :rolleyes: ). I know I'll still need some work-style clothes, but it's so hard to try stuff on when it's just your regular belly!. I've spent most of my life trying to disguise/hide my belly that it's tough to purchase clothing that 'lets it all hang out'! I had lost 5 lbs, but I'm back up 3 as of this morning.

telling work I made the 'announcement' last week and everyone was thrilled. We haven't had the discussion about maternity leave or coming back. I have no desire to come back (1 hr commute each way + much discord in the dept), but right now I have no other firm plans. I plan to broach the subject of coming back p/t. If I tell them I'm not coming back, they might not have to pay me for my sick days that I use for maternity leave (I have to use accumulated sick and vacation days). Not quite sure how I will handle the eventual departure. My manager won't be surprised, but I'd like to give them as much notice as possible without jeopardizing my time.

"big ultrasound" My 4 week schedule will get me back to the OB at 16 and 20 weeks, so I assume it will be at 20w. Maybe it depends on whether you might want other types of testing based on results?

If anyone has any additional links to add to the first few posts, let us know. I thought I might e-mail the May mommies - they seem to have some good links. Also, if you have any baby avatars we could use for the June06Mommies login, that would be great!

Has anyone lost a significant amount of weight while pregnant? Is it something to be worried about?

I've lost 12 pounds since I found out I was pg. My doctor isn't concerned as she says it's fairly common. Also, since I've been on vitamins since I was pg with DS the baby will get all the nutrients I have stored up in my body.

Thanks for the responses...that's great to know and puts my mind at ease.

I haven't been drinking a whole lot, but I'm back to water now (had a phase where it just made me gag) and managed to choke down a sandwich at lunch. It was actually quite tasty (although it was lunch meat) but at least it stayed down.

I'm glad that losing the weight isn't anything to worry about. I asked my mom and she told me to just enjoy it, that I have enough body fat stored up that the baby won't be lacking anything and that it's probably body fat that I've lost.

So, I'm not going to worry about it. I go to see the midwife in a week and a half, so I will talk to her then. If I keep losing it, then I will call her sooner, but for now I guess I don't need to worry about it.

Also, I'm going for a 45 minute massage tomorrow. I figured I would treat myself (plus my insurance pays for it and renews in January.) I'm a little nervous about lying on my stomach for 45 minutes, but hopefully it will help me relax and get rid of the sore back that has plagued me lately. I could really use some relaxation, especially at this time of year.

So, thanks again for the replies, it's put my mind at ease.

I forgot a couple of things.

Shouldaeloped I am on progesterone supps, I am not sure when to stop them, since I didn't see my Dr. yesterday. I will most likely keep taking them til my next appt. and ask her then. I am pretty sure I was taking them til week 13-14 with my first pg.

Feeling the baby move I think I have felt the baby move. But it just seems too early. This is my third pg, second baby. When I am just sitting or laying bed, I feel something and I don't think it is gas.:)

I've lost about 7 lbs and I don't think I've gained any back. My Dr. is not concerned because I already had enough fat stored :( . I'm a tad bit overweight to begin with.

I got this top today for my DH's company Christmas Party. I'm wearing it w/ dark gray pants and a shrug that is 3/4 length in the arms with the sam kind of sequin detailing on the neck, bottom and sleeves. Do you think that will look ok? I will probably wear black boots with it.

I think this is the shrug:

Wow, a new thread! How exciting! :D

weight -- As of my last OB appt., I'd lost at least 6 lbs. However, my appetite has started to return, so I have a feeling I'm gaining. I can see a baby belly, which leads me to...

maternity clothes -- I'm so torn on these. My jeans still fit right now--at least for the first few hours I'm wearing them. I'm home during the day, so I can get away with wearing comfy clothes (like the velour pants I got at Old Navy after Thanksgiving), but I feel like I should be prepared with some maternity clothes just in case. I also don't have many long shirts, so I'd be more comfortable in either some longer regular shirts or maternity shirts. It just feels too early for maternity ones.

big ultrasound -- My doc said we'll schedule this one at my next appt. (which is next week). She said they schedule the u/s between 20-22 weeks, and I was *really* hoping it'd be 18-20 weeks. :( Oh well, I'm sure the time will go by quickly anyway.

feeling baby -- I'm so excited to feel the baby move! I have a feeling I won't even realize what I'm feeling in the beginning, but it's exciting to think that it's not too far off.

excitedbride -- I have a feeling I'll be emotional like that too. Already I have moments where I feel like crying for no reason. I would've been upset had I lost my dinner too! ;)

being emotional - Heavens, yes. I've always cried easily, but this is freakin' ridiculous. One afternoon when we'd gone out for lunch because I was really really hungry, I broke into tears when our food arrived.

weight loss - Not me, but I've heard it's common. I'm at the other end of the spectrum -- up 10 pounds. Just about on target for a twin pregnancy.

telling work - Still waiting for my boss to be in the office. I've been practicing my line in case after the babies is mentioned. I'm not planning on giving them only two weeks, but in my work environment, telling them now is not a good idea. I imagine I'll give them about two months. That's enough to be reasonable without jeapordizing anything.

lack o' cravings - I'm so glad this isn't just me! DH has been giving me trouble about not being decisive and how he expected cravings. So now I have ammunition!

Saw the babies again today at our nuchal translucency test. Measurements looked good, although the blood work won't be back for another week or so. Heartbeats are still strong and they're growing like weeds. The larger baby is measuring 13w. So I think we're ready to start letting everyone in on the secret. Not that it'll be a secret once I stop wearing oversize clothes.

Pink - Looks like a cute outfit!

excited - That would absolutely make me cry right now!

Hello All :D

New Thread - YEAH :) I'm so happy. It makes it seem more real now that it says second trimester.

This thread moves so quickly for s.o.'s :/

So I went to the dr today and everything went fine. HB was 150. BP was 95/52. She said low is good right now. I thought that was too low, and that's was DH said when I told him, but she said it's ok, so....

I have a new induction/due date - May 26th. I'm going further and further back into May. By the time you know it, it'll be the beginning of May :D

food/cravings: I pretty much have that every meal. I know I'm hungry and know I have to eat, but never know what I want :/ It really sucks sometimes. And then, if you don't eat, you get even more sick :/

weight: Funny this came up today. I lost another 4 pounds, totaling 10 pounds. So now I'm at 159. I lost 15 lbs the first tri with Niko. The dr said it's ok cause we have enough natural fat to sustain the baby.

big u/s: I'm having it at 19 weeks. That is when they had the earliest opening. They are so busy at this place.

emotions: Have you all seen 50 First Dates? Well the last scene where they're in the boat in Alaska, that always brought a tear or two to my eyes. Now, I break down and sob. The other day, Niko looked at me and said momma and I lost it again, for about 10 minutes.

baby moving: With Niko it was around 20 weeks when I was sure, but then I also knew that I *felt* him earlier by a week or so, just didn't know what it was. Now, I'm almost sure that I'm feeling something. It's not gas and I feel something. Brian says it's something moving through my intestines that I'm feeling, I'm just more aware cause there's a baby in there pressing on everything.

I haven't seen the whole movie, but they were playing it at Hollywood Video the other day. Is that the part where they're playing that really cool version of "Over the Rainbow"? I started bawling right there in the video store.

Thanks for the new thread! I can't believe we're in the second trimester!

emotions- Ha! Um, just a little. I have been getting weepy during a lot of the sappy Christmas commercials, which is a definite sign.

excitedbride- There was an incident last pregnancy for me, where I had made a particular dish I was really looking forward to. I went into the backyard to turn off a sprinkler, and when I came back in I caught the dog with his face in my dinner. He's lucky he's still here, I tell ya.

Thanks for the new thread!! It looks great! As soon as I get my u/s pic loaded, I will post it. :)

Quick question for you ladies... I know I read it somewhere but can't remember where. How long can you safely lay on your tummy while sleeping? Sometimes I wake up on my tummy and don't know when it is really bad to do that... :confused: Does anyone know? I know Baby isn't near my tummy yet, but I just worry about hurting it. TIA!

How long can you safely lay on your tummy while sleeping?I've read before that it is around 15 wks or until it is uncomfortable. I used to be a stomache/right side sleeper but it is getting uncomfortable for me now so I try to start out on my right side but then usually I end up waking up on my left side. I guess I am getting used to it cause I have not been sleeping on my stomache in about a wk & 1/2.

I agree, it's fine as long as it is comfortable. I can't remember with my first pregnancy how long it took before I didn't feel comfortable but I think that it was somewhere around 15-16 weeks like sunshineab622 said. At almost 14 weeks, it's still totally comfy for me now.

:D Hey gals!

Susnhine: SO funny about Lena.. that is actually DH's grandmothers name and Emily was my grandmothers name.. so that is why we are using them both. As for Ryan it is my maiden name.. so Dh and I had a deal when we got married if I took on his name I could use my maiden name for one of our kids.. :)

Emotional: hmmm yeah I guess you could definately say so.. I was watching Oprah a few weeks back and was balling my eyes out... :confused:

I think I might take the day off tomorrow... Dh & I have a Holiday Ball to go to.. and I heard we will be getting snow in the NY area.. so I think I might try to stay cuddled up in bed!:D

Have a great day!

Anyone else still feeling really sick?
I'm 13w5d and still puking and sick. We went out for supper last night and I had to run to the bathroom in the restaurant and I puked forever. I have a feeling I will be sick for this entire pregnancy. I was sick for the 2nd and 3rd trimester with DS and this time it started out right away. The Zofran isn't even helping anymore. :(

Thanks for the new thread, threadmistresses! So exciting to see "2nd trimester" in print!

So, I'm not **quite** there yet, but at nearly 12 w I feel close enough.

I had a Dr. appointment yesterday and all went well. Got to see the baby --and now it actually looks like a baby! I started crying when I saw it. It's just so amazing how quickly things progress in four weeks.

Speaking of...I GAINED four pounds in the past four weeks. No losing weight here. I think it's because I've had no morning sickness and am hungry all of the time. That would explain why I barely have any pants that fit anymore. The Dr. todl me not to worry and that since I'm a thinner gal, this is quite normal. Heck, as long as the baby is okay, I don't care either way!

Unfortunately, we weren't able to hear the heartbeat, but I saw it flickering away again and everything looked fine. They'll try again at my 16w appt.

I was a bit disappointed because I was supposed to have the nuchal test yesterday, but out of the sic Dr.'s in my practice, only one of them does the test. Nobody told me that when I made the appt. (including the Dr. I saw last time who knew I wanted it, who I saw again yesterday...urrrghhh). They said I coudl come in next week at a time they had available, but it's busy season at work for me and I have tons of meetings, after work holiday gatherings, etc., so I'm just going to let it go. I will have a blood test at my 16w appt. instead, so better than nothing. :(

Have to get back to work. I'll try to check in with all of you again on Monday. Take care and congrats to all who have passed the 2nd tri threshhold!

Welcome JCharley!

No real update since yesterday. I am still exhausted all the time and easily winded by carrying stuff up the stairs, but for the most part I just don't feel pregnant right now. I think I am just getting used to everything by now and now I am just waiting for my baby bump.

Lucky you to those of you who have been losing weight! I am jealous... Although, I will take weight gain over extreme morning sickness any day. I don't think I have gained much yet it feels more like my weight is shifting. If I had to guess, I think I have gained about 5 lbs total. I was just thinking to myself yesterday that this has got to be the best diet ever. I am drinking twice as much water as i did before, and trying to eat around the food triangle.

Cravings: It is too funny that someone brought up pb&j sandwiches. I bought wheat bread for it and then was about to cry yesterday when I couldn't find the peanut butter. If I can't satisfy my cravings I go bonkers.

weight I’ve had zero m/s and haven’t gained any weight. I was about 20lbs overweight to begin with so maybe that is why.

I spoke to the nurse at my doc’s office and she told me I am okay to resume normal activities and that they will not be doing other u/s until my 18-22 week one. I will definitely be pushing for 18weeks. I want the tech to look at my cervix again and make sure it is still okay.

exercise I need to start exercising again. I use to walk at lunch but it is getting to cold to go outside. We have gym at work, but that would require some motivation and a desire to spend more time in this place. I was doing Yoga and Pilates at one point and I really need to pick that up. I tend to have lower back pain and I know that an extra 20 pounds isn’t going to help. When I was doing pilates I felt much better.

For the yoga and pilates addicts do I need to do any modifications this early. I know that later in the 2nd tri I will need to stop doing stuff on my back. Will I need to cut out anything else?

You know I am right there with you girl. TMI ALERT. I had a SCARE last night. I am completely consitpated because of this stupid Zofran and I tried to potty last night and this is what happened. I strained myself and when I went to wipe the tp was COVERED in bright red blood!!! At first I thought it was from my vagina but thank God it wasn't. I looked in the toilet and there was blood in there too!!! It wasn't traces, that doesn't worry me it was alot. But it stopped when I wiped. I called the emergency phone number and talked to the OB on call and she said if I was sure it wasn't from my vagina to come in and see my doc today, don't worry about it tonight, i probably just tore something. Um oh, is that all...sick! I was so grossed out I cried and cried and puked and puked. Dh made me a milkshake and that calmed me down and made me feel better. I just felt so disgusting. I thought I had hemmoroids or something. So I go to the Dr. today and waited over an hour to be seen and the power goes out. So I got an exam via flashlight today! He said it would make a good story for my baby :rolleyes: . It was kinda funny. He said I did NOT have hemmoroids, that I probably broke a really large blood vessel and just drink more water (like that's possible w/ this nausea) and get some Metamucil. Other than that he said I looked great and wasn't bleeding anymore and everything else looked great and come back in 4 weeks. I got to hear the heartbeat for the first time, that was really fun. My poor DH was supposed to go w/ me to hear it Tues., took off work and everything and now I can't come back for 4 weeks. Nothing ever works out and he always misses EVERYTHING. I feel so bad for him because he is trying.

Weight I was weighed today and I am still down 8 lbs. Dr. is still not worried but said have dessert on Christmas, like I was waiting for his permission ;) .

Emotions I got a b-day card from my Grandma today and it made me well up. It had a little girl's pink dress on the front. The actual card said:

Remembering you from the time you were small brings the proudest and happiest feelings of all. And warm birthday wishes come straight from the heart to a granddaughter who's been loved from the start.

And under she writes:

So true!! Much love, Grandma. Along with a bunch of other nice stuff. She also sent me a check for $30 like she always does. She even does if for my DH now. She is SO sweet and adorable.

I have been MIA for so long...we even have a new thread!! DD had to have tubes put in her ears (that's another novel!), and I am the always-gets-sick-when-she's-pregnant lady, so I've been gone. But I'm hoping now that life is becoming normal again that I can keep up better!

Baby - Saw dr. Monday. Up 3lbs total, so I'm thrilled with that. I heard the heartbeat (after eight minutes of searching) and will find out the sex on Monday, December 19th!!! YEAH!!! We're not actually "finding out" until Christmas night. My sister never gets to be a part of anything bc she lives 5 hours away and works like crazy, so I wanted her to open the envelope telling us what it is. She's the only aunt, and DD is named after her, so she's special!!

No morning sickness to speak of. I always get sick when I'm pregnant, so I've been nursing a head cold since Thanksgiving. I always have a craving, but it varies from day-to-day....lately I've been wanting Blimpie's. I am an emotional wreck still. I go from angry to sad, but I don't have time for breakdowns with DD around.

Still in my old clothes, but I think maternity clothes are going to be coming next week. My jeans are totally cutting off my circulation! I have a little baby belly, but nothing noticeable.

The best part...I felt the baby move once! It was Monday night, and I was laying down watching tv while DH ran to work. It was on the lower left. SO WONDERFUL!

I'm going to stop rambling and try to catch up with everyone else. Congrats to the new mommies, and I hope everyne is feeling great today!!

Hello, sooooo excited about being in the 2nd tri thread. Haven't been having as much m/s and I've been sleeping a LOT better. Still sleeping on my stomach and back because on my sides pulls at my tummy to much. UGH!

Weight I was down 7 lbs at my 12 weeks appt, and then all of a sudden I've gotten my appetite back and I've put on 4 lbs in 2 weeks!!!!:eek: But then again being 14 weeks and only being up 4 lbs isn't too shabby, it puts me right on track for the 20/25 lbs the dr said she doesn't want me to go over.

PICTURES??? I know some of you, but not all. Let's post a pic or two of ourselves so we can know a face with a name!!

I've never done pilates, but I went to my first prenatal yoga class over the weekend and the instructor said, in general, no backbends and no inversions, although how long you've been practicing has some effect on what you can do. For an example of how she modified things, we did a modified down dog using the wall, which stretched the same muscles without inverting anything. The class wasn't overly strenuous, but I felt great afterwards.

Thanks for the welcome everyone:) It's good to know other people are having the same experiences. I haven't had any m/s, have only gained a total of 1 or 2 pounds, but my pants are too tight, and my DH says I look pregnant!! I had an u/s last week and saw the heartbeat (yeah!), and am having the nuchal translucency test on Dec 11 because of "advanced maternal age"!! Talk about making you feel old at 35!
Anyway, looking forward to being a part of the group!

So sorry to hear some of you are so sick! :( I have been lucky enough to only be nauseous here and there, so I'm definitely counting my blessings on that! Hope you all start to feel better soon!

Pink, Glad to hear everything is ok! How scary that must have been!

Yay for everyone hearing the h/b! That was the big "whew" for me.

If I remember correctly, don't maternity clothes run in the same sizes you normally wear, unless you are constantly bloated? So if you wear a 14 in regular clothes, you wear a 14 in maternity clothes?

Hello All :D

ITA with simplicity This thread moves so fast I can't keep up

Ok, it may not seem like it, but I'm cleaning right now, my FIL is coming today. I really am cleaning, just taking a quick break :p

Anyway, I was laying in bed last night on my back and had my hand on my abdomen. I started feeling something deep inside and my original thought was to call Brian but he'd say gas so I just layed there. Well all of a sudden I felt movement from right to left and then a kick. It wasn't hard, but I felt it on my hand so I know it was a kick. Gas doesn't move in one direction and then kick you :D So I had my first kick last night. Kinda freaked me out that I could feel it so early but it was a kick, no mistakes about it.

So that is my news. Ok, back to cleaning :rolleyes: Have a great day and weekend if I don't get back here.

NikosMommy Congrats on feeling the baby. Have you felt anything since then? I’m only 12w2d, but I lie in the bed and try really hard, but of course I get nothing. Maybe mid January I’ll start to feel something.

I found out last night that DH’s cousin who was due June 26, lost her baby. I don’t know if it was a recent miscarriage or a missed miscarriage. Either way it has got to be hard. I know how I felt when I thought I was losing my baby. Dh’s cousin is a vegetarian and was craving and eating meat while pregnant. Dh’s sister asked me if I thought she lost the baby because she ate meat. I said only if she ate contaminated meat. I really hope no one is telling that girl that load of crap.

I'm still cleaning ;) Actually I vaccumed, cleaned the bathroom and only have to load the dishwasher. I came online to print off Niko's Christmas list. While grandpa is here, I'm going to Toys R Us. Hopefully it won't be crowded being it's a weekday and it snowed here.

ds I haven't felt the baby since. With Niko it was round 20 weeks I think so I was very surprised to get kicked last night. I told Brian and he said gas, but I told him too that gas doesn't kick. Could you imagine what kind of gas that it for you to feel a kick. I wouldn't want to be around when that came out :eek:
I'm sorry about DH's cousin. I've been down that road too many times and it sucks. Just to let you know, she may not want to see or be around you or even hear about the pg. I know I was the same way. It's not you, just remember that.

Ok, now I will finish and get Niko dressed.

NikosMommy – I know that she may not want to be around me. Luckily she and DH are not that close and we live 2.5 hours from them. I would never say anything to her about my pregnancy, but I can’t control what the rest of DH’s family says and does. Although I have not experienced a miscarriage I have experienced infertility and as a result I have learned how to not be insensitive. I filled in DH last night on what not to say to her when he talks to her. There are lots of things that people say thinking that they are comforting when in reality they are being insensitive.

A big shout out to everyone I am enjoying seeing the pictures and hearing about feeling babies moving!

We had our NTT (nuchal translucency test) screen yesterday and got a glowing result. What a huge relief to know that the baby is apparently healthy (at least so far as Down, tri 18 and many cardiac defects). We got to see the baby in 4D as well! The little heart was beating away--so cute! I will get the results of the blood work in a few days and will know more but all looks great!

My next US is the Level II on January 24 .

Well, I at getting back at my boss at work! The President and our Financial Controller are both Notre Dame alumns and we are having an ugly sweater contest today. I found one of my DH's Notre Dame sweaters and wore it to work today as my ugly sweater!!

Half the staff is cracking up every time they walk by. I showed Pres and at first he didn't get it, until I said that I think I'm a shoe in for ugliest sweater. His response was "Oh, you don't want to do that!" The last time he walked past me he said, "Just so you know, I have HR writing up your termination paperwork."
He has a good sense of humor and I knew he would get that it was a joke. My husband was scared that he would just be plain insulted.

It's so good to get even!! I just thought I would share my fun for the day. We are having a huge potluck today so I am wearing the maternity pants so that I can graze all day.

Tonight my sister and DH are taking me to PF Chang's, I've never been there. I hope I like it with this crazy tummy of mine. Anyone had it before?

I haven't felt the baby move yet. I never have taken the time to "try" tho since it's still so early I didn't know you could. My ex-coworker told me she has a doppler she has never used that I could have. I need to get w/ her about getting that. That is going to be fun!

Just dropping by an update. (May be TMI!)I ended up in the ER last night due to dehydration. I started vomiting at 5:00pm and continued through 5:00am. DH and I were so worried about hurting Baby that we decided to go in and sure enough, I was thoroughly dehydrated! It was awful! We were there for 3.5 hours, I went through 2 bags of IV fluid (I thought an IV would be much worse than it was!), had blood drawn, found bacteria in my urine sample (have antibiotics for that) and was forced to eat a cracker and drink OJ. After I ate 1 cracker, I felt sick again but was able to will myself not to vomit again. My mouth and throat were so dry, I could barely swallow the cracker without gagging. :( It was horrible. But I am feeling 80% better today and can drink Sprite and move around without lunging for a garbage can.

So now I am just hanging out at home, not really wanting to do anything. Maybe I can get my Christmas shopping done online.

On Sunday I leave for DE for 4 days for a meeting and will be back Wednesday afternoon. Hopefully this flying experience will go as well as the last with minimal nausea.

That's it for me! Love seeing the pics of you all!

Happy Birthday Pink! I too read BF as boyfriend at first :) Hee hee! Glad you were able to savor your yummy breakfast!

Amurphy, Have fun telling everyone tonite! :D

Hi to everyone else! Be careful out there in Boston!

Thanks for the birthday well wishes everyone!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY PINK

ds Hopefully your DH's family will be as understanding as you are around his cousin. You know very well that people who don't understand m/c's and infertility can't understand or know what to say.

baby lust What part of Delaware are you going to? I live in New Castle, which is 10 minutes from Wilmington. If you're going to be around here, maybe we can meet. Email me and I'll give you my phone number.

Here is the pix we sent out in our thank yous from the wedding. This was taken at the Bellagio.

I cancelled dinner. My tummy is acting weird. I can't even explain the feeling, just blah. Felt good all day til about 3:30 of course. We are still going to go out but just somewhere much closer to home and easy, like Steak and Ale or something, nothing fancy. It's so cold and dreary out and I don't feel good so DH and sister were both all for it too so that's good, my sister is having a bad headache herself (she's a 3rd grade teacher, no wonder ;) ). DH is getting me a present on the way home, it's killing me not knowing what it is. I wasn't expecting anything because I didn't really want anything or give him any suggestions that I can remember. Even with the tummy problems I've still had a nice day so far. Thanks again for the b-day wishes everyone, I appreciate it :) .

Niko, I will be flying into Philly, then driving to Newark. Newark and Wilmington are pretty close, aren't they? I'll have to look at my agenda and see how much free time we get. We are flying in on Sunday afternoon, then meeting co-workers for lunch/dinner, then Monday and Tuesday I have meetings until 5:00. I know on Tuesday we are going to dinner as a group.. can't remember where... some place by the water, if that narrows is down any. :p But if I have some spare time, I would love to meet up with you! I will try to find my agenda tonite and PM you. :)

Pink, Sorry your tummy is acting up. :( Hope you start feeling better soon! Can't wait to hear what your gift is! :)

Happy Saturday.

DH and I are going for a tour of the Family Birthing Center at the hospital next Saturday. I know it is a little early. We may go again at a later date. We went about a year ago and want to see if anything has changed. It doesn't hurt that we will be able to see some babies. I caved and went this past week while DH was out of town. Nothing had changed but it was great.

Dinner was good but I started bleeding again last night :( . I got a cute cake and two cards from DH. He is leaving to get my present in a minute. He said all the places he tried to get it said they had it online, but didn't have it in person, and then he ran out of time. That's what you get for waiting til the last minute, geez :mad: . He always does that. I better like it!

I feel ok so far today. I am getting my hair cut today for the first time in FOREVER and I am hating my bangs right now, they keep getting thicker and thicker every time they are cut. I don't know if I am gonna have to grow them out and start over or what. We'll see. Tonight is the Christmas party. hopefully I will feel good for that. I am feeling a little self conscious about wearing the maternity shirt out tonight, but I am showing so I guess I just need to get over it. I feel like an imposter, like I am not far along enough to warrant wearing it. It's a non-returnable special occassion top so I guess I have no choice!

DS, Have fun touring the birthing center! How do you get things like that set up? Does a whole group of people do it or just you? I've heard a million people talk about it but haven't heard about how it is done.

I had horrible cramps last night(felt worse than AF cramps) I kept getting up to check for bleeding but there was none. Everything has been fine today but my DH was kinda freaked out. ( I was too but as long as I was not bleeding I thought I was ok)

We had early christmas with my family today (moms side) - It was great! Food was great! Only a few smells got to me but I did not throw up wooohoo. Quite a few people talked about "the baby" - This will be the 1st baby in our family since my nephew was born 9 yrs ago.

Pink: Sorry to hear about you bleeding - I hope it has stopped now. Have a good time at the Christmas party.

Sunshine ~ Is there any way it could have been gas pains or intestinal cramps? I've had them be so painful this pgncy that I curl up in a ball.

sunshineab622
12-11-2005, 07:32 AM
It was scary - I have an OB appt on Tues so I will mention it to him & see what he says. I have not had any more cramps. I thought at first it could be gas pains but I really do not think it was it was too low & felt just like AF type cramps but tons worse than I was used to.

I got sick last night :( I was sitting in the floor doing a project/scrapbooking some pictures for our sunday school class. I got so lightheaded - I told andrew to get me a poptart. I guess my blood sugar dropped. I ate one then went to lay down in my bed. after laying there for about 2 mins I told dh that I felt like I was drunk (dizzy/ room spinning) & he said are you getting sick - I said um, yep I think so .... ran to the bathroom to throw up (several times) - I guess this baby making me sick/throw up is his/her way of letting me know she/he is ok... lol

The bleeding - It stopped when I wiped. It was bleeding from the blood vessel again I guess. I took some Milk of Mag. which the dr. said would be okay previously if the constipation got really bad and it helped a little, but it's not like I can take it often at all. I got some Surfak and will try it today. I just cannot stomach Metamucil and the like, although I think it would work the best. I can't even take the pills, they are too big and plastic-y.

The Christmas Party - Started out good, I looked pretty cute (my haircut turned out good) tho I looked super pregnant and people noticed so that was kinda embarrassing since I'm barely over 3 mo.'s. The maternity clothes make you show so much more. But later we went to some nightclub type place and before it was over everyone was WASTED and the boss was trying to start fights with people and a bunch of people got physically removed. It was embarrassing and Monday morning is not going to be fun at DH's work, THANK GOD he wasn't drunk or involved other than trying to seperate people and get people back to the rooms, getting cabs, holding some girl while she puked, and helping one of our friend's get some insulin when he needed it. It was pandemonium and all of us that weren't drunk had to help everyone and babysit.

Hope everyone that's not feeling good or has aches and pains is doing better this morning.

I am so behind on everything. I'm going to try to be better about keeping caught up. Anyway, I have my next dr appt tomorrow and I am sooo scared to see how much weight I've already gained. My home scale says 12 pounds. :eek: I am very short to begin with (4'11") so I don't know if that will have any effect or not. People at work have told me it's just my stomach and no place else so I hope the dr isn't too worried. I haven't been eating that much more.

pink Holy moly, what a party. How embarassing for the people involved. I can't imagine behaving that way and then having to go back to work on Monday! I was wondering how it went with your outfit, cause I have a party this coming weekend and I'm feeling weird about wearing the maternity shirt that is the only thing suitable that I have to wear.

sabrielIf you happen to stop in- congratulations and sticky vibes to you!!!

Okay, everyone, tell me if I'm nuts. After I got a shower today, I was rubbing lotion on my stomach. My bump was even on both sides. I looked down and saw my stomach shift so that the bump was bigger on the left side. Is that possible so early? I kept trying to get it to do it again, but I couldn't. But I swear that's what I saw.

I started wearing my maternity clothing this weekend. So much more comfortable, but it feels weird.

jbjenny - The top was cute and comfy, but I did feel that it made me look bigger and I was kinda uncomfortable with that. Especially since there were like 5 other preggo's there to compare myself with. One of which is due a week before me and not even showing and it's her second kid!

Forgot to say earlier I finally got my birthday gift, it was a Waring blender that I have wanted for like 3-4 years that I could never justify buying myself, but wouldn't stop mentioning. DH finally listened and got it. I was totally NOT expecting it and really liked it. Even though he felt dumb giving me a blender, he felt it was too boring of a gift, but I was happy w/ it. He's a pretty good gift giver I got diamond solitaires last year, he just always buys LAST MINUTE and didn't want me to think he just pulled the blender idea out of nowhere, he was like I was listening, I did remember you wanted it and searched everywhere for it! It made a mean chocolate milkshake for me today.

Sarah, Sorry I have no advice for you but I can empathize. I gag everytime I brush my teeth. It's horrible. It's a vicious cycle because of course I feel like brushing my teeth after gagging but then I want to throw up again! Fortunately most of the time it's a gag reflex and nothing else but it's just awful! I try to brush my teeth gently and slowly esp when I'm brushing my tongue. I think it helps a teeny tiny bit. :)

Brushing teeth

I had no m/s, but sometimes I get nauseous when I brush my teeth. It doesn't seem to be the toothpaste, and I'm fine when I do the cheek sides of my teeth, but when I try to do the tongue side, it's like instant sickness.

Just got back from my dr. appt and we heard the hb. It took them a while to find it at first, it was higher up than they thought it would be. The dr said it was about 150bpm which sounds a little low to me, but she didn't seem worried so I'm trying not to. It was the most incredible sound ever. DH got this goofy grin on his face. Hi ladies... alot to catch up on...

Sounds like you all have had some exciting feew days!!

Loving the photos.. keep them coming.. so nice to feel like you are placing a face w/ a name.

Nothing new to report.. like Amurphy.. I stayed home becuase of the snow in NY.. major mess

Dh & I had our in laws and my parents over for brunch yesterday.. and in the process.. our stove broke.. and then our washer.. UGH what a pain. So DH & I had a very expensive day yesterday.. new stove, new washer and dryer (I told DH .. we have to have a matching set.. :).. so we got a new dryer too)...

I hope all is well w/ everyone...

Good morning, everyone.

We had a fairly uneventful weekend. Dinner with DH's old coworkers was nice even though a few people had to cancel because of the weather. One guy drove up from NY and was in the car for 7 hours. What a trooper. Everyone was excited to hear our baby news. So that was nice. Saturday I spent the day finishing up my Christmas shopping with a friend. I bought a few things for myself including two Calvin Klein tunics. They aren't maternity wear but I think they'll fit for a good while. They are long and stretchy...and comfy! I had a clothing crisis on Sunday. I just felt FAT. Ugh. I finally put on an Old Navy maternity shirt and a pair of jeans that are a size bigger than I was wearing pre-pregancy. DH said I looked cute but he may have just realized that he needed to say that so I would agree to leave the house. :rolleyes: I'm feeling okay today. I'm wearing a pencil skirt, which is only comfortable because I'm employing the "rubber band trick" for the first time. What a great invention.

Teethbrushing/gagging: I've been puke-free for a week! But the gagging while brushing continues. I'm sorry to say that I don't have a coping strategy to share with everyone.

Update: My next appointment is December 28th. I'll be 15 weeks!

Is anyone else having a hard time telling family? I am 12 weeks tomorrow and my uncle and his family came up to celebrate Christmas early. I was suppose to tell them but I couldn't.

Before we got pg, I told a lot of people that we were waiting because we didn't want the pressure of "Are you pregnant yet?" Now, I am not so sure if that was a great idea because I know the resopnse will be, "I thought you were waiting!"

It's just that my parent's families are so judgemental. For instance, when my grandmother was staying in town for the wedding, she had the nerve to talk to my dad about how she thinks I don't need to be getting married and if I want to, I can have the ceremony and then not sign the paper work, that way when I decided to leave him I didn't have to deal with an ugly divorce! This was before she had met him!! When my dad about told her off she said that she was just speaking from experience because she had been through 4 divorces.

This is also the family that holds my cousin who told me during my last pregnancy that if she had a "retarded or disformed baby" that she would give it to her sister to raise.

I don't know, it's not as if my family is pure evil, it's just that I know that I am not going to get those Hallmark reactions that everyone else gets. I get reactions like "What are you going to do?" or "How can you not care if it's a boy or girl? I hope it's a _____" or "So are you sure you're not going to miscarry this time?" (as if it was my fault!) I just don't know if I am prepared for all of that.

Lil Mrs- that sounds like a nightmare. I am having a hard time telling people too but not for the same reasons. with two losses under my belt, I just feel like some people get to know and some people don't. not sure what I am waiting for, but I guess I'll know when the time is right. I have seen the heartbeat 4 or 5 times, you would think I would be confident by now. anyway, I guess what I am trying to say is that I totally understand.

mystikal- so glad you got to hear the heartbeat. there is nothing like it.

amurphy- seems like I feel fat all the time. this in between phase is for the birds. can't I just have a cute little baby belly already????

as for me, DH had his company party saturday night. got nice and loaded for me to drive home. sometimes being the designated driver isn't all it's cracked up to be. although I would take pregnancy over the alternative any day of the week, I would have killed for a glass of red wine. it seems like most of my cravings have turned healthy. . oranges, peaches, chicken and fish. the carbs are gone and so is the sugar. I made Christmas cookies this weekend and couldn't eat even one! maybe that will help me to stay in weight guidelines!

Ryan – we got hammered too with snow in CT

Mystikal – I know I can hardly wait until my next u/s. We will be able to see so much detail. Mine isn’t scheduled yet either, but I hope to schedule it at my appt this Wed.

I can hardly believe that it has already been 9 weeks since I had my first +HPT.

Lil_Mrs_0702 - sorry for the hard decision you have to make. Have you told your own parents and ILs? Only tell them and let them spread the news. If you do decide to spread the word yourself, give them the news at the end of their stay or just as your are leaving a family function. That way you can tell them and leave (or kick them out) and are not stuck listening to their unsupportive comments. Unfortunately we can’t choose our families, we are only stuck to deal with them.

I’m looking forward to the New Year. We will start to find out the how many boys, girls and surprises we have in the group. We will also find out if anyone else is carrying more than one. Wouldn’t that be a total shock?

Sometimes I get kind of ahead of myself and look forward to the next week, so then I forget what week I'm actually in, but I'm pretty sure it's week 15.

I love to see pics, too, so I'll put one of mine in. Here's one of our engagement photos from October of 2004:

We just took a family pic with the cat to send to our sponsored children, so maybe if that turns out well I'll scan and post that one of these days. I'm a terrible picture taker. One roll of film will last me for months sometimes. Hopefully that'll change when The One Who Has Yet To Be Named has arrived.

My third appointment is this Thursday, and this will be the first one DH has been able to attend, so hopefully it'll last longer than the 3 minutes the last one took. And I imagine we'll schedule the appointment for the big u/s which I should be having sometime in mid-Jan. DH and I have pretty much decided that we're going to be surprised though. Which is pretty shocking for a person like me who tends to be driven nuts by surprises!

It sounds like everyone is doing pretty well. Sunshine, I hope you're feeling better and have a great appointment tomorrow. Pink, I hope your bleeding eases. I know sometimes it can take a while for blood vessels to heal, especially when they're continuously being, well, used. And L'il Mrs., your situation with your family sounds like a bummer. Hopefully they'll surprise you, and if not, then I hope you and DH can just let thoughtless words slide off your back. Best wishes.

Yeah, I kind of felt like I was looking at me when I saw that avatar, so I went with it. :)

Sunshine- just wanted to let you know that I fell at work a few weeks ago, too. I was getting up from my desk and managed to get my foot wrapped around a telephone cord and went down on the rock hard floor. I was a little dazed and confused (and concerned), but other than some stiffness and soreness where I landed everything seemed fine. They must be pretty well padded in there. When my sister was pg she was pushing a shopping cart in the parking lot, and the wheel got caught in a rut, and she went over the cart. Not good. I think that was around 5 months, and she fell down some stairs later on. But her daughter is 17 now, and doing quite well. :p I think God knew how off-balance pregnant women would be when he designed us, so he made sure those little babies would be well protected.

Howdy! I'm dipping my feet into the second trimester. It’s really great to match up names with faces – thanks for posting your photos. I hope everyone is feeling well so far this week?

As far as brushing teeth go, I haven’t had any problems, so therefore have no solutions. But hopefully for those of you suffering with this, your problems go away soon!

Pink – yikes on the bleeding! I’m glad to hear it hasn’t returned. And I’m relieved to hear I’m not the only one that’s stopped up. I mean, there’s only so many bran muffins, apples and salads a girl can eat! Oh, and HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY!!!

Mystikal – congrats on hearing the h/b! Isn’t it the best sound ever?

Amurphy – I’m right there with you. I DO think most of my weight gain has gone straight to my butt and thighs, but maybe my pants are tight because my abdomen is growing? Though I’m still able to squeeze into 2 or 3 pairs of my normal pants, I’m slowly coming to the realization that I’m going to have to get some new clothes soon. Right now I just feel like a soft blob.

Lil_Mrs_0702 – Sorry to hear you’re in a tough situation. Telling that kind of news too can be scary, because you never know how people will react. Some will do exactly as you expected, and some completely surprise you. I told my old boss today who responded with a “Oh really? I thought you were waiting.” And that was it. No congratulations, no questions asked, nothing. I also think that some people just aren’t in to kids, no matter who’s having them.

Shoulaeloped – I wish I could take on your cravings! I’ve mostly been craving potatoes. Baked, with green onions. Or popcorn. Or anything that’s crunchy and salty. It’s not boding too well for the rear, if you ask me…

Friday at noon, DH and I went to my ultrasound. I was a bit nervous beforehand, just wanting confirmation that everything was OK. I really didn’t know what to expect – heck, I’ve never had an ultrasound on my belly before! But it was so AMAZING. As soon as the technician put the device on my belly, up popped this little…person. It took my breath away… I was astonished at how defined the baby was, how real it seemed, with it’s little heart beating away as it rested inside me. It even seemed to wave at us at one point! We got to see fingers and toes forming, it’s little hips and knees, it’s cute little nose. DH and I just kept squeezing each other’s hands in amazement.

Then, she asked it.

“Do you want to know the sex?”

It took me a second to even hear what she asked. So I had to ask back “Can you tell?”. And she gave a big grin.

And so began the deliberation. On the train, DH and I began to discuss if we should find out the sex of the baby or not. Now, it’s my understanding that the chances of them being able to determine this at a 12w sono is pretty small, but possible. Still, I didn’t even think that much about it before we went in. Both of us see the value and excitement in waiting to find out, and had thought about it as a possibility. But at that moment, it’s awfully tempting to find out. And while we could have passed this up at this point, since it IS so early and we’ll have another u/s in about 8 weeks, we knew that if we were asked this question again, there’s no way we could say no.

So we said…yes.

And she came back with…It’s a boy.

A BOY!!! Now, I know this isn’t 100% accurate, so I’m not putting all my hopes in to this. But she seemed pretty certain, even pointed out his, uh, parts. Everything so far looks perfect. The neck measurements were thin and spot-on for a healthy baby, nothing looked alarming and we felt totally reassured. The doctor came in after the tech was done measuring to give another look, and confirmed that our baby looks like a boy, then reassured us that he looks good and healthy. The doctor actually had me measured at 12w4d, and I was roughly 11w6d, so not that far off. He gave the estimated due date of June 21, but it could also be close to my original date of June 24th, which I’m sticking too.

My next appointment is January 9th.

Me too!

Sunshine – I’m glad everything is okay. Whenever I go down stairs I quickly grab the railing. I must be paranoid, but I fell down the stairs at home over the summer and that was no fun. I didn’t’ break anything but I had some nice bruises. I had falling down hardwood stairs onto a hardwood floor.

Amurphy – you can started a new craving for me. I had an orange after lunch and it was very good. I want another one but all I have is an apple. I love clementines.

Clothes – oh my…I think this I the last week any regular pants will fit. I have on a long jean skirt that I love and use to fit into. Now I have to unbutton it whenever I sit down. I have one other pair of pants that I think will fit for a while.

Gina – wow….that it totally cool. I probably would have caved too although I really hope I don’t. We have our first little boy.

CONGRATS Gina on your BOY!! How neat that they could tell that early.

Speaking of knowing early, I have my 15 week appt next week and she said she may do another u/s just to make sure things are progressing nicely. If she says do I want to know I'll have to say "not right now" because DH can't go to that appointment and we already have it set up for the 12th of jan(my birthday, what a cool present huh??!!) and our moms are going. :::SIGH::: It would be so nice to know, but I have to be strong and say no if she can tell.

Cravings~ I'm honestly eating sooo much more these days than even 2 weeks ago (and STILL down 2 lbs from pre-pg weight) and nothing really sounds good until it's time to eat again which is about every two hours. I will admit that I haven't been eating many veggies or fruits (they just sound gross) and have been eating a LOT of pizza and taco bell, as well as cheese and skim milk. I'm hoping that the 2nd tri healthy eating thing kicks in soon or I'm going to start feeling bad every time I eat.

QOTD Is anyone buying a gift for the baby this christmas? We decided to spend $10 each picking something out for the baby for the other one to open, like a book or a toy or something. Kinda a way to honor the baby even though he/she isn't here yet.

Also a ??? for you smart ladies.We are trying DESPERATELY to find a ornament with a preggo either lady or bear or something on it. Each year we go to the mall and get one of those cute personalized ornaments and last year they have a couple and the mama bear was pg, this year they don't carry it anymore and we are searching everywhere. Anyone seen these or know where we might find one???

Have a great night ladies!

Anyone else feeling worse in the 2nd trimester? I've spent the last 2 days with my head in the toilet and I know it's not a flu bug or anything like that. It's good old m/s just like I had with DS except with him I'd puke once and feel better. With this little one I'm nauseus all day and don't even feel better after I throw up.

Sorry to come in here and complain. I'm so thankful and blessed to be pregnant. It's just that after being sick for the last 6 months with DS I was hoping to only be sick during the first trimester.

ds ~ Is it one of the cute little Carter's outfits? If it is, I love them. I'm hoping to pick one up after we find out the gender - if they're still around.

Kaeden's Mommy - Yep it is from Carter's. It has a zip up jacket with a hood. It is very cute. DH and I saw it while in Sam's Club. It was only like $10.50. I thought about getting a pink and a blue one, but I settled for white since I really like it and it's gender neutral.

Hi ladies!
Gina-congratulations on your BOY!!!
I had my nuchal translucency test today. They did the ultrasound and we were able to see all the limbs, toes, fingers, brain forming, even ears!! It was very cool. The baby was reclining on its back, sucking its thumb! HR was about 150. The Dr. asked if we wanted him to check the sex, but we said no, its going to be a surprise!! So far everything looked normal, but we won't have the official results for about a week. My next appointment is December 27th.
Congratulations to all the girls hearing heartbeats- it makes you really feel pregnant! I am also in the just plain feeling fat stage. My pants are too tight (and why in the thighs and butt as well as the tummy???), but the few maternity I've tried on look ridiculous. I've only gained 2 lbs, but I feel like I've gained 20 inches!!
Anyway, hope all you girls still having m/s feel better soon!!:)

gina Congratulations on your boy!!

Kaeden's Mommy Sorry you're feeling so sick. I hope you aren't sick the whole time like you were with DS. This is not nearly as bad as what you're feeling, but every time I brush my teeth, I am totally gagging. That didn't start until just last week.

jcharley Your u/s sounds like it was amazing. Congrats!

I ordered a fetal doppler the other day because I just can't wait to "make contact" with this baby until dr. appts. I also want to let my family listen to the h/b at Christmas. They're gonna just freak out when they hear it. I can't wait. If anyone is interested, I got some really good recommendations for babybeat.com and I'm really pleased so far, and I haven't even recieved it yet. They have all kinds of different price ranges. I just got a basic model for $66 for 3 months. If you get a multi-month rental, you get a recorder free. I don't know much about the recorder yet, I'm not sure if it's something that's digital or what. There's also free 2-3 day shipping by DHL and free returns.

good morning everyone!

kaeden's mommy- I'm so sorry you aren't feeling good. I, on the other hand, feel like a million bucks and would give anything to have just a twinge of nausea to remind me there's a little fella in there. I know the second trimester is supposed to be better but I am either barely there or not quite there depending on how you look at it! I do hope you feel better soon.

regarding the doppler- I want to rent one so badly, I know it will help with my peace of mind. . . if I can find the heartbeat. I am terrified of not finding the heartbeat, of hearing mine and thinking it's the babies, of obsessing with it every night and then calling the doctor terrified if I can't find it. my doctor recommended that I leave the heartbeat finding up to her. anyone have any other experiences with this? how hard is the heartbeat to find? is it more scary than comforting? or vice versa?

jbenny75
12-13-2005, 05:53 AM
shouldaeloped When we listened to the h/b at the dr's office, my dr. told me that my heartbeat was the much slower one in the background and the baby's was the fast one. I actually couldn't hear mine in the background, but I was thinking I could put the doppler on my heart first, so that I could tell the difference between the two. I wonder if that would work? She told me that it is fine to rent a doppler, and that the baby might be able to "hear" when you were doing it and actually turn towards the sound and become more active, allowing us to hear it better.

Dan's Girl when you go to your next appt you should tell them before they even do the u/s that if they can tell the sex you don't want to know, that way they won't ask and you won't be tempted to say yes.
Gina congrats on your BOY! That is so exciting to know already!

Well, I made it to 12 weeks. I can't believe I'm almost out of the first trimester!!! :eek: I'm feeling a bit more energetic and I am able to keep my eyes open past nine o'clock at night, but now I'm hungry ALL.THE.TIME. I eat and then ten minutes later my stomach feels empty again. What's up with that???

I don't feel worse, I feel different. It just a total sense or yuckiness all over me. I feel full all the time and nauseated and motion kind of bothers me. I actually cannot hold the pukes now, I puked in the car this weekend, on my sleeve, in my hair, on the floor mats, I puke outside the mall. I'm a public puker now! I feel the same way about complaining in here. I feel like I sound ungrateful to have this wonderful gift inside me. But this little gift is kicking my a$$.

Good morning, everyone!

Gina: Congratulations on your little boy! Very exciting news!

Gifts from/for baby: DH's birthday is a few days before Christmas so I got him a onsie from Gap that says "I love Daddy." It is the baby's gift to him. Just a little something to make him cry. ;)

DS: After all my talk of oranges, I feel it my duty to warn you...don't eat too many. The third one (eaten right after the gym) was too much for me. I ended my puke-free streak in my work parking lot. Boo.

I've discovered yet another pair of pants in my closet that are comfortable. Flat front, low-rise, black Ann Taylor pants. Yes, they are a size bigger than my pre-pregnancy size but they let me feel like ME and not a chubby girl stuffed into small clothes. What a nice change of pace.

Hope everyone has a good day today. I'm going to try to get myself to the gym again today and embrace this "second trimester honeymoon."

Hi ladies:
And if you are leaving in the Northeast.. happy COLD COLD DAY!

DS.. where abouts in CT do you live? I have a bunch of girlfriends who I went to college w/ that live in Ct… small world.

Gina: YEAH FOR A BOY… so exciting… EEEKK … just love all these babies…

Dan’ Girl: My birthday is January 13.. HOW FUNNY! And are little babies are due 1 day apart! I am also w/ you on just eating pizza… I did not think I had MS but I feel so great today that I must have had some of it… and I am hoping I start to eat healthy as well.

Kaadens Mommy: I hope you start to feel better

QOTD: I must say… I am so superstitous that I am not buying anything and if anyone does buy me stuff (which they have) I have been keeping it in the basement. I have no idea why.. I just get so nervous still….

My Update: Ok.. I know we talk about pregnancy brain.. but here is one for you ladies… I was so embarrassed I was not going to write it.. but I thought.. we all could use a laugh… My car was acting up on Friday during the snowstorm.. so DH is taking it to the shop today. So yesterday he says to me “tomorrow is a big day.. and I said “I know we are getting my car fixed” and he looks at me and laughs and says “um no, it is our anniversary”… would you believe w/ the holidays and the baby and work.. I totally lost track of time. Is that terrible…. so I gave him tons of hugs and kisses this am… (I am sure he wanted more but I was way too tired :p )… So today is our 2nd wedding anniversary. Hopefully we can do something fun!

Amurphy – I think parking lot puke is hilarious. When my sister was pregnant she puked in the parking lot of a Cracker Barrel after going into the bathroom and experiencing some not so pleasant aromas.

I’m fortunate that I have not puked in years. Even when I’m sick it comes out the other end. That’s no fun, but I’ll take it over puking.

My appt is tomorrow morning. I am so excited. I really hope DH can make it this time, but it looks like he will be heading to Denver and somewhere in Minnesota this week. BooHoo. After this week, we both have one week of work left this year. I get Christmas to New Year’s off every year…the office closes. DH doesn’t but he is using vacation time.

Ryan – I live in the Greater Hartford area

shouldaeloped, Pink, ds2003, excitedbride, Lil_Mrs, Dan's*Girl, jcharley, jbenny75, Mystikal, amurphy, and Ryan - Thanks guys for your congrats on our news! I still feel so strange knowing so early. I had no idea they could tell so soon either! But I guess if they, uh, “see” what makes them a boy, then there’s probably really no chance that could change, right?

Lil_Mrs – you thinking the “boy parts” were waving to us had me in stitches. Thanks for the amusing image!

jcharley – wasn’t that ultrasound just the coolest? I thought it was really amazing to be able to see “almost there” eye sockets and ears. Kudos for you on holding out in finding out the gender. I wish I had had your will-power, but who am I kidding? I can’t leave a bag of unopened chips alone, so how can I be steadfast in not finding out something like the sex of our baby? lol… Oh, and I’m right there with you on the weight gain distribution. What’s up with that? My theory? My butt isn’t really getting that much bigger, it’s just that I’m expanding a little in the front and I don’t realize it, but it’s pulling on the back of my pants. It could work, right?

Kaeden’s Mommy – I’m sooo sorry to hear that you’re still not feeling well. This has to be just awful for you. I’m hoping you’re able to find some relief in the very near future. Maybe this pregnancy will be the exact opposite of the last two – you’ll be sick early and then totally fine in the last half or something?

Pink – public puking, how awful. Any sign of symptoms getting better?

Ryan – wow, that’s a pretty good case of pg brain! Congrats on your anniversary, and enjoy celebrating!

QOTD Is anyone buying a gift for the baby this christmas?
We have a adorable antique store near our home that is a Christmas goldmine in terms of handpainted ornaments and really beautiful decorations. We’ve made it a tradition to go there every year and buy something for our tree (the year of our wedding we bought a bride and groom), and they had an ornament that spelled out B-A-B-Y in little building blocks with a duckie on top, so we bought that. But I also love amurphy’s Gap purchase too…

Hello All :D

So far behind :/

Gina Yeah for the boy. They are fun and challenging when you change them :D

Dan's Girl I got those ornaments last year for us. I acutally saw them yesterday. You can also try ornamentshop.com.

brushing teeth: Still the same problem as before. I gag when I look at the toothbrush. So the first brushing is w/o toothpaste. I get sick, which is gross, and then go back and brush right away with toothpaste. I don't brush my tongue, I use my teeth the scrape it, it seems to help. My trick is to use the toothpaste immediately after.

doppler: there is no way we're getting one. I know as soon as I couldn't find the hearbeat I'd panic.

buying stuff for baby: We didn't buy anything for Nikolas at all. I didn't even register for my shower until I was about 25 weeks. With our losses I didn't want to jinx it. I'm not going to buy anything this time either. Besides Niko will have enough under the tree for all of us :-D

Speaking of my pumpkin, I wanted to post his Santa picture here. Brian said he's not smiling, and he isn't, but he also isn't crying :D

Ok, so yesterday we went to the mall to take that pix with Santa. We got there at 11 and we left around 2. I was exhausted but I still managed to go to 2 more stores, with Niko asleep so I was lifting "dead" weight. We came home and I straightened up.
Brian came home shortly after with some sandwiches from Wawa. I ate and was then off to go grocery shopping, after stopping at BJ's to look at a new coat.
I got home at 7 and was in tears. My back hurt, I was exhausted and my stomach hurt. I had a small bowl of cereal and went to bed. I got up around 9:30 and had an apple. I slept like a baby.
Other than that, I'm feeling ok. I'm oficially in maternity clothes. I don't mind wearing them cause they are comfortable and they're cute. Plus when you wear them, you get stuff. Like someone let me get in front of them at the mall in line, they had a huge order. She saw my belly and let me go :D And this sounds horrible, but I took advantage of it :/

Hope everyone has a good day.

I was totally hoping all of the men in line in front of me at the post office would offer to let me go in front of them yesterday. I probably would have lost my nerve and said no anyway :rolleyes: because one of them was old. When I get really far along I won't feel bad about taking advantage! I get all mad about having to park far from stores, I think pregnant women should get a temporary pass to park close :D . Pink I was so exhausted, I would have gotten in front of an old person :o
A lot of places by us have parking for "customers who are expecting or have an infant with them". I went to the grocery store one day and there was car parked in the spot but w/no car seat. I lucked out parked right next to it. As I was loading Niko and the groceries a man in his 40's comes up to the car and starts loading his groceries. So I'm waiting for his pregnant wife to come out, but he was alone. I asked him when he was due. He gave me a look so I asked him again. He then asked me what my problem was. That was the wrong question. I went off on him, I started insulting him and people started looking at him with that bad person look. I pointed out where he had parked and how it was rude of him. I also told him if I saw his car again in that space I'd call the police. He felt like an idiot and didn't know what to say.

I was going through my pix and wanted to drop off two more. They are of Niko but I wanted to share them cause I love them.

He was out cold under this monkey. He usually falls asleep on top of it. This picture makes me crack up everytime I see it.

NikosMommy – the pics look great. I’m looking forward to my pg belly. I’m in maternity pants but not tops and you can only see the beginnings of a belly if I wear a fitted shirt…esp after lunch.

I have to say that with the 2nd tri I’m have more energy at night and am sleeping better at night. I had the worst time sleeping in the 1st tri and I know that didn’t help the exhaustion I was already experiencing

Pink-Converse - Where I work you can get a temporary handicap sign to park near the door for the duration of the pregnancy. I’ll probably get one since I’m be pregnant through the winter and do not want to risk slipping on the ice. BRU has the stork parking for expectant moms. I haven’t taken advantage of it because I’m not showing.

There are several grocery stores around my area that have preg. parking.

Well my appt today was awesome. :) It was so neat to hear the heartbeat. It was fast. I have only gained 1 lbs since last month (not bad at all since we had thanksgiving & 1 christmas dinner already) up a total of 2 lbs this preg. wooohoo. Doc said everything measured right & looked to be right on schedule. I told him about me falling yesterday & he said that baby is well protected dont worry about it - just be careful - It would have been bad if I were further along (5-9 months).

my next appt is Jan 3rd for bloodwork to check for downs/spinal bifida. I will be 16 wks ... wow

Wow, I've said it before and I'll say it again, this thread moves way to fast for me to keep up.

For those that I can remember (sorry to everyone else)

Gina ~ Congrats on finding out the sex, that's amazing that you know already you are having a little baby BOY! We are having the debate right now about whether to find out at our next U/S or not...I'm against and DH is all for, I wonder who will win this one?

Sunshine ~ So glad everything went well at your appointment and the fall didn't hurt anything. It's wonderful to hear that heartbeating away...I must say it made everything so much more real for me. Congrats!

Lil_Mrs ~ I just wanted to say that I was sorry you are going through such a tough time with your family. Although my family is all very supportive and excited, I'm having the same difficulties with telling that you are. I've let my mom tell everyone so far, just don't feel comfortable doing it myself.

Kaeden's Mommy ~ I can totally relate to what you are saying on feeling worse in the 2nd Trimester. I'm feeling much better physically, meaning I'm not completely exhausted all the time and have some energy back, but the M/S and Nauseau have definitely gotten worse. I've been sick more since entering the 2nd Tri than I did in the first. It's not nice and I was so looking forward to being past this stage...hopefully soon *please*

Pink ~ Just wanted to say that I was so happy to hear that the spotting has stopped. Hopefully that's the end of it for you and you can move on to other worries. Although I have to say that I'm still a compulsive Toilet Paper checker, even after passing the 15 week mark...will it ever end?

Ryan ~ Congrats on your 2nd Anniversary. I must say I chuckled when I read that you thought 'Taking the car in for service' was a big day! Although I can totally see something like that happening to me, in fact I'm just waiting for it to happen.

Nikos Mommy ~ Gotta say that I'm having the same problems with toothbrushing that you are...lucky for me though, I'm not getting sick with every tooth brushing. That's awful! I have to say that Niko's pics are so cute and to find a Santa with a real beard, he looks so nice (and true, he may not be smiling, but he's also not screaming)

Gaffy ~ My due date buddy, I have the same hard time figuring out where I am and sometimes when someone asks how far along I am I get tripped up. If I say 15weeks, is someone really going to know how far along that is, but saying 3 months seems like I'm short changing myself and almost 4 months is hard to believe when I still just look fat...it's so hard to know what to say to everyone. I can't wait until I get 'big and fat' as DH would say, so that I will look PG and people won't have to wonder.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Update on me:
Well, I reached 15 weeks last Friday and it was wonderful to know I'm getting there.
My M/S has reached a new level and I'm getting sick more often now than I was before. It sucks, as I hate, hate, hate throwing up. I just keep praying that everyone else is right and that soon it will end. It especially sucks when I get sick after eating something that I really enjoy lately...then I really don't want to eat it anymore.
That brings me to cravings...whenever someone mentions something to eat here I immediately want it (example ~ the pancakes someone mentioned yesterday or the Taco Bell Cheese Fries...yep, all things I have HAD to HAVE!)
I've also been really craving Chocolate Milk lately, which replace my previous craving of Orange Juice. Well, this morning after having a nice big glass I was sick...now I'm not sure if I want to drink it anymore, but I really, really liked it. Only six more months of this, right?
On the belly front, it's definitely there now, no denying it. I let my MIL feel my belly on the weekend and she was a little taken aback. It's rounded and very hard lately and I don't think she thought it was baby (but I'm not THAT big.) I'm still trying to hide my PG from work, so I wear my maternity pants but not the tops yet. Although I think I'm down to about four normal tops that I can wear, but I look really fat and really sloppy now. I just can't wait for that belly to really show and to be able to tell people that I'm not just gaining weight.
And onto buying stuff...I didn't buy a single thing (or even look for that matter) until I hit the 13 week mark. Now, I'm feeling much better about this PG and I'm looking and buying some things when I see them. My new obsession is baby bedding. There are three different patterns that I'm currently looking at, just trying to decide if I want to spend alot of money, or not. And I'm upset that the new set I REALLY LOVE is only available in the US...they won't ship to Canada. So now I gotta figure out how much I really love it.
Other than that, nothing else to report. Christmas is right around the corner and DH are setting up our REAL christmas tree tonight. I'm getting very excited and looking forward to some time off between Christmas and New Year's.
So that's it for now, hope everyone else is doing wonderfully and are we almost all in the 2nd Trimester now...how many more to go?
It's been so busy at work lately that I ahven't had much a chance to check in. then, don't you know it, I typed a whole long reply today and somehow lost it! Urrrgghhh....
Anyway, here goes:
gina congrats on your baby BOY!
pink happy b-day to you!
ryan happy 2nd year of marital bliss. lots to look forward to, huh?
nikosmommy adorable pic of your son with santa! no guilt on getting ahead in line. work that pg belly! :)
xmas gifts my hubby got a book for the baby for x-mas which i thought was just the cutest thing ever. glad we're not the only ones.
gagging while brushing none here, but my symphathies to those of you dealing with this. it sounds just awful!
quick update on me I've been so emotional lately. Seriously, my hormones are way outta wack. I cry at everything - from 7th Heaven episodes to the cheesesteak I couldn't get my hands on the other day.
Mrs. Brownie(/B] I'm with you on the baby bedding obsession. See below-
[B]Speaking of baby beddingI gave in to mine and ordered the set I was in love with, which was discontinued at PBK a while back. Don't know if you or anyone else here recalls it, but it has a white background with red, yellow, green and blue bunnies all over it. My husband and I LOVE bunnies, so it's perfect -- and totally unisex. I ordered it brand new from a seller on e-bay and it's set to arrive on Friday. I cannot wait! Was that way impulsive of me? Oh well, I'm finally feeling excited and really pg, so it's wonderful to do something that makes it all feel "real."
work and telling Thinking of moving my "tell date" up --originally I was shooting for end of 1st week of Jan. -- my tummy is rapidly giving me away. Maybe next week...we'll see...
Sunshine - I’m glad all is well with regards to your fall
MrsBrownie – I hope the m/s is over for you soon. I hit the 2nd tri tomorrow. If you really, really, really want the expensive bedding then buy it or hope that someone buys it for you. I’m plan to go the simple route. A bumper, some sheets and a skirt (maybe). I already have a few blankets. I really like the Wendy Bellissimmo themes so I plan to register for the accessories and just go neutral on the bedding. I just can’t justify spending $300 on bedding. I’m wating for the belly. I look like I have one today since I’m wearing a fitted shirt. My problem is I’m into the maternity pants but I don’t have enough shirts that are long enough to cover the demi panels and I don’t need to wear maternity shirts yet. Luckily I have 3 pair of maternity pants with elastic in the back so I can sorta wear a regular shirt with those
Some of the pants I have are demi and other are full panel. I think I’m going to like demi a whole lot better. I like having the waist sit under my belly. Of course I say that now while my belly is still small. At 38 weeks the demi panels will probably keep rolling down.
X-mas gifts for the baby-I'm so bad. I told DH that I wanted a Winnie the Pooh convertable crib for Christmas. My mom is getting us a camcorder, and my lil brother is buying some of the smart ass onesies that are linked on the parenting forum. I'm hoping that DH will take the crib one step further and suprise me by decorating the nursery and setting it up.
I am so sorry to all of you that are still experiencing m/s and public puking yuck!! I couldn't imagine.
So they just passed a no indoor smoking law in Washington state and I am so excited. There is a local bar that has the absolute best food, but I would have to make my DH go get for me b/c of the 2nd hand smoke. I went there on Friday and bar food has never tasted so good. I told my lil bro who is 18 that the best part of turning 21 isn't the legal drinking (been going to parties for years), it was the bar food! I feel guilty being the pregnant woman in the bar, but the food totally makes up for it.
Today, I am craving Taco Bell so I'm stopping there on my way home from work.
Gina- I'm glad that my pregnancy brain could give you a good laugh. I almost ran a red light the other day, so now I am double and triple checking every light I approach. My DH thinks I am a total dork.
mrsbrownie:I've also been really craving Chocolate Milk lately, which replace my previous craving of Orange Juice.lol this brought back so many memories for me ... When I was prego with Andrew I ate reeces peanut butter cups & orange juice at the same time.
ds2003: I missed 7th heaven last night ugggg I love that show - I am going to be sad at the last show - You've heard this is their last season?
ffanelI bet that bedding is adorable - I will have to look it up online to remember which PBK bedding it is. I love PBK bedding even though most of it is out of my budget
Thanks for the wishes/support about my fall yesterday - it was scary at the time but hearing that heartbeat & the dr telling me everything was ok - now I have some relief.
My Dad is taking me for a belate birthday lunch today! Hopefully he shows up early or I won't be able to eat. Mid day or so the MS is really bad.
I also have to brave the post office again today, clean the kitchen, and do laundry, just what I feel like doing :( . Hope everyone has a good day. I'll check back in later.
I had my appt this morning. It went well. I felt that he seemed rushed near the end of the appt unlike the other doctors so far, but other than that it was good and he answered all my questions. The doctor had a little trouble finding the h/b but he got it. I told the doc that we were not going to do the blood screening tests and he was fine with that. I asked him if it would be okay for me to travel to NJ for a wedding at 37 weeks (I live in CT). He said if the cervix is long and closed then he would have not problem with that. He did say that I should call my insurance company because if I were to go into labor while there, some ins companies will not cover it if you are voluntarily out of the coverage area after 36 weeks. I also asked him about the steaks and he said the risk is so low that it is okay for me to eat them medium. DH missed the appt since he is out of town, so I recorded the h/b on my cell phone and sent it to him attached to a text message. He called me and said..oh yeah that’s a boy.
On my current 4 week schedule I would have been 17 weeks at my next appt. He told me to come back in 5 weeks and schedule the u/ for the same day.
So my next appt and BIG U/S are scheduled for Jan 18.
I’ll be 18 weeks on Jan 18.
I also asked him when the 3rd trimester starts. He said if you take 40 and divide by 3 you get one thing, but we say it is around 24 weeks because a baby born after 24 weeks has a good chance of surviving.
This thread moves so fast, it is hard to keep up with!
Gina congrats on finding out about your baby BOY! I am very jealous of you. I cannot wait to find out what we are having!!
A little late but, happy birthday to Pink
I am now at 15 weeks and I am still exhausted all of the time. No more morning sickness (thank God), but I keep waiting for my energy to come back. It is difficult to keep up with a 2 year old!
For those of you that are due early in June is anyone else but me worried about having the baby on June 6th? My due date is June 5, 2006. I just realized that if I were to have the baby ONE day late the baby's birth date would be 06/06/06 (666)! I am seriously considering telling my doctor that I want to be induced if I don't have the baby by 06/04. Is it crazy to induce a day early to avoid a birthday of 666? :eek:
I haven't been able to keep any food down for over 24 hours now. I called my doctor's office and talked to a nurse. I gave her all my info about taking Zofran, vomiting 1-3 times per day to the point of it being bile and dry heaves because there's nothing left in my system. She talked to my doctor and I have to increase my Zofran usage to 4 mg. every 6 hours and if that's not helping I have to add Phenergan to the mix. If I'm not feeling better by Friday they're going to look at more serious options. I'd appreciate any crossed fingers and happy thoughts girls. Thanks!
Shoulda – If I hadn’t heard the h/b before I may have been worried, but I saw the baby last week and heard the h/b two weeks ago so I wasn’t that concerned. Hearing it is great. I’m glad I recorded it on my phone. Now I can play it whenever I want.
Taraw – that is a valid concern. I’ve thought about that. Even with a due date of 6/21 it is still possible to deliver on 6/6. I’m not the superstitious type but a birthday of 666 would freak me out. Inducing a day early is not a guarantee; you never know how long you will labor. Your best bet is to just see how it goes or plan a cesarean.
Lunch was good and I feel ok so far. I noticed I have broken vessels on my face now from throwing up either last night or this am :( . I look purty!
It was really good to see my Dad. I got another tearjerker card with a sweet note in it and he kept talking about the baby and telling me how I look better than I ever have and how pretty I look. It was sweet. This will be his first grandchild (other than stepgrandchildren he already has).
Kaden I hope they can figure something out for you!
Tara My due date with my son was June 6.:D Although that was 04 so we didn't worry. He ended up being born May 12. I would freak out too if I delivered on June 6 of this year!
So, I'm in my second trimester, right? Babycenter said today that I am "about to enter" the second trimester. Whatever. I'm feeling so much better lately despite Monday's parking lot puke (DS, it really isn't funny when it is you throwing up! :p ). I was exhausted on Monday & Tuesday but I can deal with that better than I can deal with feeling quesy. Brushing my teeth is still an adventure, but I find I manage okay if I remain completely still--no walking around doing other things, which I used to do. I even managed Listerine these last few days. Went to the gym again today. That's a milestone!
Keaden's mom: I'm so sorry to hear that your m/s has gotten worse. I hope the doctor's remedy helps and you feel better soon.
Pink_Converse: I'm glad you had a nice lunch with your Dad. It sounds like his card to you was very heartfelt and sweet.
taraw: It took me a second to figure out the issue with a 6/06/06 birthday. But I see why you are concerned now. However, I don't think it is such a yucky date that I would schedule an induction or c-section to avoid it.
ds2003: Glad your appointment went well today! I think I should take you with me to my next appointment. You always remember to ask the doctor good questions. I'm more inclined to be happy hearing the h/b and going on my way. :rolleyes:
I have to chime in and say that everyone close to me is hoping for an 06/06/06 baby...I'm currently due on 06/02/06, but MIL keeps telling me how neat it would be to be born that day. She's pushing me to go over my due date (like I have any control in that.)
I wouldn't mind it, actually I think it's kind of neat as a matter of fact. You would never forget your birthday and while the 666 did cross my mind, with the '0' in there, it's not a worry for me. I think being born any day in June of 06 would be cool (same as May of 05 is neat too.)
I am secretly hoping though that our child is born on 06/07/06, as that would be my grandfather's (who passed away three years ago) birthday and the same grandfather/grandmother's anniversary day. So that's my hope. Although I don't really want to go overdue, it would be great for me.
We have so many birthday between the middle of may and the middle of June, that there really isn't a 'great' time for another birthday, but such is life.
Sorry, just had to get my opinion in there too.
Pink ~ Sorry to hear about the broken blood vessels. I had a problem two weeks ago with a broken blood vessel in my eye, now that was PURTY!
Kaeden's Mommy ~ I can only sympathize with you, I'm still experiencing M/S, but nothing like what you are describing. Hopefully the new 'cocktail' will help, but at least the Dr. is going to monitor it now. I see the midwife next Tuesday and am debating asking for a perscription for Diclectin...is it worth it, only the next week will tell.
And last but not least...thankfully Christmas only comes once a year, as my emotions cannot handle much more.
I find that between Christmas songs, commercials, cards, etc. etc. etc, I'm constantly tearing up. It's awful, I find I'm crying for no reason at the most stupid things. While I've always been emotional, this is taking it to a whole new level. I can only imagine what the next two weeks are going to be like (or New Year's Eve.) Anyone else?
Amurphy – I found it comical because when my sister threw up she was cracking up. She is great at finding the humor in things. I apologize if you thought I was insensitive.
Pink – a broken blood vessel…that sounds painful. I hope it repairs itself quickly.
Mrs Brownie – I wouldn’t say that I was always emotional. I cried during movies but that was about it. I can tell that I’m becoming more emotional because I started tearing up over 7th Heaven on Monday and no one died.
Thanks everyone.
Kaeden's-I'm praying that works for you and they don't have to look into more serious options. I don't really feel like the Zofran is doing jack anymore. Other than constipate me.
Emotions-I meant to post this yesterday, but your posts today reminded me. A Babystory has taken on a whole new meaning. I always almost cried when the babies were born on that show. Now I ALWAY cry cry. I feel like I'm going thru it w/ them. It's kind of funny. I'm so emotional when I see the love of a mom or dad on tv for a child. It hurts my heart.
ds-sounds like a good appointment! Look at you, you smart cookie, recording the h/b on your cell phone! I must remember to do that next time...
taraw - I never thought abou that before, and I see how you're concerned. Even though our EDD is 6/24, you never know how early you'll go. But I sort of agree with MrsBrownie. Though I find 666 creepy, you'd never write the date that way, but more like 6/06/06. So really, it's a palindrome! My SIL's baby was born 5/05/05 and we all thought that was pretty neat. Though the date when you put it like 6-6-6 does give me the heebies, it's not something I'd go to drastic measures like inducing or c-section to avoid.
Kaeden's Mommy - I'm keeping you in my thoughts in the hopes that you find some relief soon and this new dosage works!
Emotions - OK. I have to admit, I have a reputation as being The Ice Queen. I never cry at movies. Heck, I didn't even shed a tear at my own wedding! But I think the hormones hit last night. DH is out of town, and there I am at home watching Queer Eye for the Straight Guy. The straight guy does this elaborate proposal for his girlfriend at the end, and tears are streaming down my face. I imagine this will only get worse, considering we're making a HUGE move in about 4 weeks, where I'll have to leave all my friends behind. Perhaps I should invest in Kleenex?
Kelly, Sending you feel better vibes!! I was only sick for 2 days and it was horrible! I feel so bad for you!! :( I hope the doctors can find something that works for you very soon! Have you been staying home from work? Sending prayers across the miles to you!
Tara, I actually thought about that a week or so ago. It kinda freaked me out but I don't dare tell DH because he will freak out even more!!! It's not a huge deal, but it's a bit strange! Hopefully we all deliver before or after that date :)
MrsBrownie, How funny of your MIL to think that you have ANY control over your due date!! :p If someone had said that to her back when she was pg... ;) That would be neat for you to deliver on 6/7 though! Good luck!!
For the ladies here who have a taken a fall, I saw this in my paper today and thought it might make you feel better:
Siloam Springs, AK
Skydiver survives face first plunge
Shayna Richardson was making her first solo skydiving jump when she had trouble with her parachutes and while falling at 50mph, hit face first in a parking lot. Although badly hurt, she survived-and doctors treating her discovered that she was pregnant. Four surgeries and two months later, Richardson said she and the fetus are doing fine. She had broken her pelvis and a leg, lost six teeth and now has 15 steel plates. During treatment, doctors found that RIchards was pregnant, which she said was a surprise to her. She said she would not have jumped if she had known.
Question:
Have you made plans to go on vacation next summer? We haven't gone on vacation since I was 7 months pregnant with Mia- that's almost 3 years ago:eek: . We put an addition on our house which is why we didn't go anywhere the past two years. But with DH doing most of the work on the house, we're both ready for a real vacation. I'd also like Mia to see the ocean- I think she'd love it. There's our dilemma. I really want to go away this summer. If we go with our families, we'd definatley have to wait until after the baby is here (two are teachers). Would it be stupid to plan a vacation for early August?
Hi Ladies: Almost Friday..
Kadden: I am sorry you are still so icky.. hoping things get better.
Amurphy: yeah 2nd trimester!!
Tara: I must say I did not think of that.. and I am due on 6/11… but I will say I was born on Friday the 13th…. and it appears it has been a lucky number for me ever since… I was born at 3:13 am, I weighed 8 lbs and 13 oz, I was baptized on the 13th, my parents annivesary is the 13th, our wedding anniversary is the 13, I work on the 13th floor… so if I have this baby on the 13th.. would be really strange..LOL//
Pink : sorry about the broken blood vessel
Gina: LOL.. at being an “Ice queen”
Jbenny; I heard about this on the train to work…
Erinn: WELCOME and I am with you planning vacations… DH & I always go away some place fun each summer… (due to expenses we may have to make it local).. but I think it is a great idea.. and gives you something to look forward too.. after the little baby is born. I am not sure why.. but I always feel summer is not summer w/ out a vacation… (must be my school days)
We have our holiday party after work today... but we are expecting a huge ice storm in the NY area... ugh.. also... do any of you take the MTA (Mass transiet) into NY or other areas... I heard they might be going on Strike tonight and that would really stink if I got on Metro North tomorrow and got dumped someplace because they will not cross Grand Central picket line... has anyone heard about this?
Hello All :D
Again, you guys move really quickly here :/ I can never keep up on all the S.O.'s.
I wanted to say hi to jay&erinn. When I got pg with Niko I had already had 3 angel babies so I didn't join that group until I was 12 weeks. I had seen him on many u/s's but didn't want to jinx it. I know in my heart you're going to be with us until the end :)
YEAH to all the moms that entered into the second tri and all the moms getting ready to start.
Kaeden's I'm sorry you're not feeling well. I don't know why they just don't up your zofran to 8mg instead of mixing phenergan with it. They started me right off on 8mg's and it helped. If you can, get the phenergan in suppository. It's wierd at first to have to take it, but it does help with the constipation that the zofran causes.
MrsBrownie I think you're being very unreasonable not listening to you MIL and going past your due date to have a baby on 6/6/06 :D I read that and that had me laughing out loud. "Yeah MIL, I have control and I'll gladly do that for you. No no baby, don't come today we have to wait until the 6th for grandma." Sorry, I don't mean to sound sarcastic, it just tickles me when people say stuff like that. I got that a lot with Niko cause he was due on FIL's birthday and at first he wanted him to come on that date, then he didn't want that date. Well I was induced and he came on FIL's birthday anyway. Now I'm due around 2 possible birthday's in my family and they've already put their requests in. I told them if the baby comes on their birthday they have to pay for college, buy the first car (which has to be brand new, not a beater car) and the wedding. They immediately change their minds. Not sure why :/
666 Birthday: I think this would be so cool.
skydiver: She fell 10,000 feet. Not only was it a miracle that her pg was ok, it was a miracle in itself that she survived!!
emotions: Have you heard that Seline Dion song Miracle? She sings about her son. Well Oprah was a repeat yesterday and she sang that song. Now I tear up when I hear it, but yesterday I was balling. It didn't help that Niko was asleep on my chest and that happens far and few between any longer. I couldn't get a tissue so I had tears all over the place and my nose was running. I was a mess.
vacation: Since we moved to DE our *vacations* have been to VA to see family. And again in August we'll be going there for DH's family reunion. It's in a different location every other year and this year it's in VA. At least the baby will be old enough to be around people, however mommy will be VERY CLOSE by.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

So when I went to the dr last week she said I could go for an u/s before Christmas to find out the sex so I could give themed presents. So I call yesterday for my referral and the nurse tells me that it will be too soon so they won't send me :mad: It's not my regular nurse. I found out that being my dr is no longer delivering (which I already knew) they are starting to give her patients to other dr's so we have to go to different nurses :( I'm so bummed. So I just have to wait until the 9th to find out.

Niko and I have been fighting this cold since the week before Thanksgiving. It's been off and on and it's on again. He had a temp of 100 last night and I feel so bad for him. He just gets so fussy and can't tell me what's wrong. He was up 3 times last night cause he couldn't breath through his nose. I hate when he's sick, but that's when he's most loving. He fell asleep on me twice yesterday which I miss from his baby days. It did hurt my belly though, but I laid there as long as I could. They grow up so fast :(

13 weeks, 1 day

I feel so bad today and there are things I HAVE to do. My floors are so dirty since it's been raining and the dog tracks stuff in, and the dishwasher repair guy is coming today (for the 3rd time this year :rolleyes: , despite the fact that the dishwasher is brand new) and the sink is full of dishes and the dishwasher is full of half washed dishes, so I have a mountain of dishes to wash. My darn cell phone is broken too, but atleast they are sending me a brand new one with a 1 yr. warranty free of charge, wish the people at Fridgedaire were that nice! Things like this come in pairs for us, our dishwasher and washer will be broken at the same time, etc. So fun!

I usually feel like I do now around 2-5 or so but it came early today. I used to have breaks where I felt good for 1 or 2 whole days but not anymore. I wish they could just sedate me thru this part ;) , I'm a big ol baby.

Welcome to our new members!:D

Congrats and WELCOME Erinn!!!

Ryan - I live and work in the city, and I have not heard that the Metro North wouldn't run into Grand Central. I'm really hoping that the strike doesn't happen. I remember panic like this about 4-6 years ago, and nothing ever happened and no strike took place. Hopefully that will be the same this time!

Vacations - I don't think it's too weird to go in August. I mean, obviously if you have the baby at the end of June,and want to go on vacation the beginning of August, that might not be enough adjustment time. But I'm really hoping we can do something fun this summer too.

Thanks for the well wishes girls! The Zofran/Phenergan combo seems to be doing the trick. I haven't been sick today and I even ate lunch. I have a new fave treat too! The raspberry milkshake from Dairy Queen! YUM!

Hope you all have a great day!

On the subject of vacations: We flew to BILs house when DS was almost 2 1/2 months old. He was so easy to travel with - he slept a lot and didn't care where he was as long as mommy and daddy were with him. It's more difficult as he gets older since we have to leave his toys behind and he misses his crib. We'd love to plan a trip this summer too.

I hit four months (16weeks) tomorrow. I can't believe how much these milestones are meaning to me. Who would've ever thought I would count the days so closely...although I must admit I knew how many days until our wedding.

I go for the second blood test for the IPS testing tomorrow. I have to be at the hospital for 8:30am tomorrow morning and with the weather the way it is (we are expecting 30cm - 15inches in 24 hours) I'm not sure if I can make it. And of course the lab is fully booked and isn't flexible at all on when I get in there. I'm going to have to do my best to get there, I suppose.

Other than that, feeling good *knock wood* and haven't been sick in two days although the nauseau has been bad in the evenings.

Have a Christmas party this evening that I HAVE to attend and DH is a little antsy for driving in the weather, with the expected snow. Hopefully though it means a snow day for me tomorrow...I can work from home.

Also, I think I finally got DH to budge on letting me buy the baby bedding. We had decided not to get X-mas presents for each other, due to the expenses coming up in the next six months (and going to one income for the next year.) But he wants season tickets for our football season, which is just about the same price as the bedding I want. So I told him I would buy the tickets for him and he could buy the bedding for me...I mean, it all comes from the same account, but at least it's bargaining to my advantage.

Lastly, as I was walking through the mall today I happened upon the most beautiful copy of 'The Night Before Christmas' that I've ever seen. My father used to read this to us when we were children and we wanted to start the tradition with our own kids/nephew, so I picked up one copy. Then when I started looking at the words and illustrations, figured I needed to buy at least three more copies (one for nephew, one for my friends son, and one for my brother should he have kids) then co-workers say it and wanted it...I ended up having to call the store and put five or six copies on hold. Yikes! But it was totally worth it.

Erinn ~ Welcome to the group, it must be such a relief to feel like everything is progressing well and to hear that little heartbeat.

Nikos Mommy ~ I do love my MIL, but it was funny how she told me to go over my due date...some things you just have no control over. Mind you, both DH and myself were at least four weeks overdue (30 years ago, I guess that was acceptable) so the odds I go late are pretty good.

Ryan ~ It's funny, I was thinking in the shower this morning (yes, thinking about due dates in the shower) and thought that I should've mentioned to the group that I was also born on the 13th (may have been a friday or early Saturday morning) and my sister was born on the 13th. My lucky number has always been 13, DH and I got married after knowing each other 13 years (to the day) and got married on the 3rd (closest I could get to 13) etc. So the unluck has alway been lucky for me...maybe that's why I think 06/06/06 would be neat. Then my dad asked me to hold off until 06/15/06 cause that's his birthday...again, do I have that much control, I think not.

I think that's it, sorry if I missed anyone. Have a great day and hope everyone in the North survives the snow.

Almost 4 months for me, too! It's funny because whenever people ask me how far along I am I tell them the number of weeks, but a lot of people (especially ones around my parents' age) look at me funny and say, "but how many months is that?" But then eventually, if I hit 40 weeks, I would have to tell people I'm "10 months pregnant", and then I'm going to get even weirder looks. Oh well, I guess I'll just deal with that as it comes.

I just got back from my third doctor's appointment. This was with another doctor in the practice, and he was very informative and nice. This is the first appointment DH has been able to come to, and he thought hearing the heartbeat was pretty cool. The doctor said it was 147 bpm, and I measured 16.5 cm which he said is just fine. I've gained 8 pounds (:eek: ) since my first appointment, but he said that was fine, too, so I guess I'm fine.:o The nurse gave me a brochure about the AFP, but said it was optional, so I opted to not take it. I wouldn't choose to have an amnio no matter what the results were, so I didn't think it made much sense. My next appointment is January 11th for my big ultrasound! We're not going to find out the sex, but I'm also going to definitely watch the ultrasound, so I guess if I figure out what we're looking at I'll know, but I don't want the tech to tell us. If that made sense.

I am having such a hard time sleeping on my side. My belly's poking out enough that I can't really sleep full on my stomach anymore, and I'm trying not to sleep on my back, but I sleep so fitfully on my side because the arm and shoulder that I'm laying on go numb after a while. I hope I get used to it otherwise I'm in for a really long 6 months. Any words to the wise would be much appreciated.

Jay & Erinn: Welcome! Here's to a healthy, full-term pregnancy.

Kaeden's Mommy: Glad to hear your new drug cocktail seems to be helping. I don't think our DQ has a raspberry shake, but I have a feeling I'm going to have to check on that now 'cuz it sounds gooood...I have 2 pints of Haagen-dazs coffee ice cream sitting in the freezer that DH might have to delve into tonight. I'm going to forgo my no caffeine rule for one night for those puppies. :)

Mrs. Brownie: Good luck with the winter travel. We've had a lot of snow here for December, but nothing too heavy all at once thankfully. Glad to hear you're feeling a little better, and that book sounds like a great find. One good thing about working at a library is I get to read all the children's picture books that come in. :)

Niko's Mommy: Hope Niko starts feeling better soon. And sorry about the ultrasound date, but at least you should be able to get some good post-Christmas bargains, right?

Pink: Ugh, re: the dishwasher. Hope you can get some of that stuff taken care of. I get so depressed when circumstances beyond my control cause my house to be a disaster. If it's my fault that the house is a disaster, oh well, but if it's a disaster and there's nothing I can do about it then yuck.:p

Re: the 6/6/6 date, I would agree with those who said it would mostly be written out 06/06/06, which is pretty cool if you ask me. My only concern would be kids finding out about that and commenting/making fun when the child hits school age. But that's pretty much a circumstance beyond my control.

Best wishes to all those passing into the 2nd trimester, and Merry Christmas, in case I don't get back to post before then.;)

I am so excited! I just got back from my appointment and we got to hear the heart beat!!! It was so surreal because the dr. was looking for it and as soon as soon as I touched my tummy he found it!
Shannon and I just stared at eachother. I don't think either of us have been so happy in our lives!

I've been soooo bad about posting (as always), but I've been reading along. It's so nice to hear that the other June mommies are doing so well! It sounds like most of you are past the worst of the nausea, so I'm happy for you all. Kaeden'sMommy, I'm especially glad you're feeling better now, since you have your hands full without feeling sick!

Pink -- I feel for you on the dishwasher situation. Ours was brand new when we moved into our house in March, and it has never worked properly. We had a repairman fix the soap cup that wouldn't close, but we haven't had anyone out recently. I don't know what to say... "Um, it's just not cleaning..." ?? So annoying. Right now we have the overflowing sink full of dishes too. I hope you get yours fixed for good!

Jay&Erinn -- Congrats! I'm glad you decided to join us. :) This is a wonderfully supportive group of women.

Lil_Mrs -- Congrats on hearing the heartbeat!! Isn't it the best feeling? Something you'll always remember for sure. :)

The 6/6/06 birthday issue is an interesting one. What's funny is that one of my managers at the store I worked at was born on 6/6/66. She was in Catholic school and joked that the nuns were afraid of her. :p I'm sure no one forgets her birthday, and it's easy to figure out how old she is. ;)

Tomorrow is my next appt. (at 16 weeks 2 days), and I'm guessing it'll be a pretty short one. If we get to hear the heartbeat again, I'm hoping we can record it this time. We'll also schedule the big u/s, and I'm hoping for one as early as possible.

Have a great evening, everyone!

We are supposed to get a few more inches tonite and tomorrow and it is blowing like a tornado out there! :eek: I hope everyone is careful out there! Driving and walking! :p

I am anxiously awaiting my appt on the 27th. I assume i will be scheduling my u/s at that appt, which should take place sometime in mid January.

Have a lovely evening ladies! Stay warm! :)

Whine all you want, sarahncraig. :) It's frustrating to not be able to take anything you may have on hand. Have you talked to your doctor? A friend of mine who's also pregnant just had a sinus infection and got a prescription for something. Big hugs.

sarahncraig - i hope you can kick the infection soon.

NikosMommy - sorry to have to wait for the u/s. maybe you will get it right after christmas and then you can catch some sales. I hope you and Nikos are feeling better soon.

Graffy - I hope I have the will power to not find out the sex.

Kaeden's Mommy - glad to read you are feeling better.

Pink - I would pretty much crash without a dishwasher. It is like my right arm.

Lil_Mrs - hearing the h/b is great...now is have to sit and wait for those first kicks.

_____

I thought I felt some movements on Wednesday night. I was rocking in my chair watching TV. I guess it could have been gas, but I know what gas feels like and that wasn't it. The movements were also in the same place the dr found the h/b earlier that day. Since then I'm felt some questionable gas movements. Hopefully in a few weeks I'll definitely feel baby movements.

13 weeks today!!!! Hello Second trimester!

so I got called out on a mini baby belly today! my boss totally called me out on the first day that I am wearing maternity pants! pretty good timing on her part. I guess my black turtleneck wasn't enough to disguise. thankfully she already knew! I don't really care though. . I like having a little baby belly.

hope everyone is doing well.

sarahncraig- I totally feel for you with the sinus infection. my DH got sick a few weeks back and I made him sleep downstairs. just not willing to put up with that if I don't have to. hope you feel better soon!

next appointment for me is Tuesday, December 20th to see the heartbeat again! I love these biweekly visits!

Hi Ladies,

I have been trying to read along but just haven't had much time to post. Welcome to the newcomers!

Well, I wore maternity pants for the first time yesterday. They were falling down a little bit but so much more comfy. I also finally got my order in from the gap so I have a few things to wear. I didn't think I'd have to buy a lot of maternity clothes since this is my second but I forgot that I wore jeans to work every day for the first pgcy. We had our holiday party at work yesterday and it ended at 2pm so I stopped by an Old Navy on the way home from work that has maternity and got a pair of pants and some undies for myself and of course several things for my DD :p .

My boss knows (but keeps forgetting - he told me yesterday that he wants me to go to Milan in May!) but I haven't told anyone else at work. I'm going to have to soon though, it's starting to get obvious especially after I eat.

sarahncraig, I'm whining right along with you. I have my second cold of the month this week and I'm getting sick of it. My DH has it too and I keep thinking he has no right to complain since he can at least drug himself up! That's the problem with having #2 - #1 brings all these diseases home from daycare.

Yahoo for Friday. I think today is going to be a "constant chatter" stalking day. It is rainy, cold, and my boss decided to take the day off. Perfect!

Welcome to the thread, Erin! I have seen your posts on the boards for a while and I'm so happy to welcome you to this thread. Wishing you a very happy pregnancy!

Kaeden's Mommy: So glad the new drugs seem to be doing the trick! :D

Graffy: Sounds like you had a great appointment. Hearing the heartbeat is such an amazing thing. And liking your doctor is such a huge plus. I've seen both doctors in my practice and they are both very nice--though with very different personalities. I like them both equally though and would be happy with either one doing the delivery.

Lil_Mrs_0702: The excitement in your post made me smile. I think we will all remember the first time we heard our baby's heartbeat.

sarahncraig: Hope you feel better soon!

ds2003: Is it possible to feel the baby at this point? I could have sworn my stomach was lopsided when I woke up the other morning...but then I figured I was nuts for thinking I could see/feel movement so early???

shouldaeloped: A belly sighting, huh? That is cool. I actually had a top on yesterday that totally showed my baby belly. It is a long CK tunic that is pretty fitted. I was just about to leave the house for work when I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror. It kinda freaked me out how visible the belly was..and I chickened out and changed my shirt. Maybe next week I'll feel more comfortable showing it off.

I have a meeting to run to but I'll likely be back later today to post again. Take care!

Shoulda – What did your boss say? My boss already knows but I’m sure others must speculate. I’ve been wearing maternity pants for a fews weeks now and today I am wearing a maternity shirt. It is amazing how as soon as you put that stuff on you magically look pregnant.

Orange – some of my maternity pants fall off too so I have a huge safety pin that I use to tighten them up a bit.

Amurphy – it is probably too early, but I like to tell myself it was the baby.

Welcome Ruby

Wow Kaeden’s Mommy…that is cool. Hopefully in a few weeks I’m be able to definitely say that what is feel is surely the baby.

ruby- welcome! I have been over here for a while. with my first m/c I joined the group right away. with the second m/c, I waited. so I figured it really didn't make a difference either way so I might as well enjoy it while I can! and you are absolutely right. . nothing but positive thoughts and healthy babies! I'm glad to see you over here and outing yourself as well! sticky vibes to you!

ds- I wa actually in a meeting with 3 of my co-workers and she said "um Heather. . . do you think you have an announcement for us? cause from where I'm standing. . it's kind of announcing itself." it was pretty funny and since I am at 13 weeks and some people have already been guessing, I wasn't upset at all. it was a good way to get the story out there. the coolest part is how you go from nothing to totally visible. crazy! of course I went straight to the bathroom and it didn't look that obvious to me. but I guess I see it everyday!

amurphy- I didn't do it on purpose. it just kind of happened with what I'm wearing I gues. still not in maternity tops but with the size of my boobs- you would never be able to see a belly if the tops were hanging from that vantage point!

shouldaeloped, that's a funny story. I'm sure if anyone is paying attention they have noticed on me as well, but I don't have the kind of relationship with anyone at work that they'd say anything. I also work in a lab so I've been making sure to wear my lab coat all the time, so that helps cover things a bit. We had our company holiday party yesterday though and I looked in he mirror when I got home and I definitely look pg in he outfit I was wearing and I wasn;t wearing my labcoat at the party. I'm thinking maybe I'll tell next week, although I was hoping to wait until January.

shoulda - that i a pretty funny story. I really don't need to have a maternity shirt on today, but I don't have many shirts long enough to cover the demi panels on my pants so today I picked out the shirt that looks the least like a maternity shirt.

I felt something this morning while standing up at the fax machine here at work .... I am really thinking it was the baby. It was not that strong but I know it was not gas ha ha. I am almost 14 wks which seems alittle early but it was definately something happening in there. I am sure it will get stronger in the next few weeks & I will know for sure it is the baby.

Last pregnancy I was 16 weeks when I felt ds for the 1st time.

Welcome, ruby! :)

We just got back from the doctor. I almost didn't get to see my own dr. (I would've seen a nurse, which would've been fine) because she was in the middle of an emergency c-section, but she made it back in time. We recorded the heartbeat this time! :D I LOVE that sound!! My next appt. and ultrasound will be on 1/13, 4 weeks from today! :D I'll be at 20 weeks 2 days then.

I'm finally starting to gain weight, which is good. When I laid down on the table to listen for the heartbeat, the dr. said, "Wow, you're growing! Look at that!" I'm only up by a pound or two from 4 weeks ago, but I guess you can definitely see baby there.

I hope you're all having a great day and staying warm!

QOTD ~ Has anyone noticed that they are peeing more the further along the get?

I have to say that I was pretty blessed early on that this was not a symptom of my PG. I was able to sleep the night and have no problems. I wasn't going any more than I was previous to getting PG.

It's now a completely different story, which I find a little weird, as everything I read said that in the 2nd trimester the frequent urination was supposed to slow down.

I am peeing every 20 minutes, and although it feels like my bladder is full and I'm going to pee myself if I don't go, it's just a little trickle...everytime.

Is this a possible sign of a UTI or Bladder infection. I've kind of wondered if this might be one of my problems lately, as I have very cloudy urine and when peeing in the morning, I get a little pain after emptying my bladder.

UGHHH, is there no end to the yucky stuff? Anyone else?

MrsBrownie -- Do you have an appt. coming up? I hope you can find out if you do have an infection soon. No fun. :( What you described sure sounds like symptoms of one. I go through spurts where I have to pee all the time, but it's not consistent, and it hasn't gotten worse (yet). I hope it gets better for you soon!

We need to start seeing more belly shots in this thread. I have no idea what this belly of mine should be looking like at 13 weeks, 2 days. My waist is definitely on the way out and the upper part of my stomach (just under boobs) seems to be expanding outward. The growth is no longer restricted to under the bellybutton. So strange...especially since it still comes to a shock when I really think about the fact I'll be having a baby this summer.

brownie: I have been peeing a lot lately and sometimes only a little bit comes out. So you might just be experiencing yet another pregnancy symptom. However, I'm not having the pain you mentioned. You should keep an eye on that.

MrsBrownie
12-16-2005, 12:19 PM
Thanks for the replies...I do have a M/W appointment on Tuesday and will see if I can wait until then. It's only a little painful first thing in the morning, but the feeling like I have to pee all the time is a pain. Maybe I should venture to the clinic tonight (I had planned on going last week, but never made it there.)

Another great PG symptom ~ Just had my first experience of leaky bladder too...I just sneezed and now my undies are a little moist...ughhh. I guess I better start on those Kegels eh?

Belly ~ Well, I thought I had mine pretty well hidden, as it's still pretty much a secret at work but was informed last night at a work function that my top pretty much gave it away (although only one person asked.) It was a top I bought two weeks ago and hid everything (waist is under the boobs and flairs out from there) but supposedly a lot can happen in two weeks. Well, doesn't look like I can hide it for very much longer (thankfully on three more days of work next week, then off until the new year.)

ds2003

brownie - sometimes the cut of a shirt can give it away even if there isn't much belly. Yep, frequent urination could mean a UTI. I'm actually peeing less now.

amurphy - I'm taking a belly shot tomorrow. I may post it. I've been taken them every 2 weeks since 9weeks.

Hi everyone!
better late than never...

I joined CC a long time ago but never posted! I date back to the old WC days (I'm a 2001 bride!).

Anyway, in October, we found out we're expecting #2! :)

I don't know how often I'll be here (I mostly hang out at LJ), but thought I would join this thread anyway!

Any other children: Connor, born 03-29-03

**(I hope I don't jinx myself into going to 42 weeks, but I'm predicting baby will come before the end of May, as Connor was 5 weeks early for no apparent reason -- was due in May, but born in March!)

We're really excited about our new addition - I've wanted to try for baby2 since Fall 2003, but DH didn't agree to TTC until almost two years later!

We got to see him/her at the Nuchal translucency screening U/S last week (everything looked great!), and I was simply shocked -- I couldn't believe that at 13 weeks, baby2 could be so big already! And, for the past week or so, I've felt a lot of little flutters that I KNOW aren't gas...definite baby flutters there. I felt Connor starting at 14 weeks, but this one shocks me at how often I feel him/her -- I could be in for some trouble later on!

We go for our big u/s on Jan 19, and will definitely try to find out if it's a boy or girl!

Anyway, I'm writing a novel.... hopefully I'll remember to check in over here from time to time!

connorsmommy Welcome to our group! We are due date twins. It is good to hear that someone due at the same time is having flutters also . This morning I felt it and have twice since then. Feels sooo wierd.

I don't have anything to report. I just wanted to welcome all the new comers! I can't believe we are 3-4 months along and still getting more members. How exciting!

Also a big WOW! to those mommies that are starting to feel their babies. That is so exciting.

And finally, to those who have bellies that are telling on your behalf- I feel ya! I went to the dr yesterday and I am the same exact weight yet, I have a laundry basket of clothes that don't fit any more. I wore one of my maternity shirts that are made to stretch and shrink and I was shocked with how much of a bump I have already!

Well, I will catch up with you girls later. Gotta get back to work.

Hi everyone.

Sorry it has been so long since I checked in but unfortnately life has been way too out of control lately. I feel like I am on a rollercoaster, but the good news is that the baby is ok. he/she is still making me dizzy and puking all the time. I hope that this will eventually pass. Hopefully it will be soon, as I join you all in the second trimester in a week.

Hi Lawerwifemom! Are you the same LWM on LJ? I think I've seen you around there, and I remember the name Rich'sbride... Around when were you pg on WC?

On WC, I was kare71401. I wasn't a heavy poster before getting married and TTC....but I began to keep a journal and post more in 2002/2003 when I had my son. I was a member of the A/M/J 2003 mamas way back then, when we had fewer new mamas and could have three months in one thread!

Don't have time to read everyone's replies right now. I just wanted to say I was MIA yesterday because I had to babysit my niece, I think she's like 6-7 weeks old. That was really good practice and really kind of hard. I'm scared for my baby to come out now ;) ! This baby also had diarrhea and you could tell she did not feel good so she was kind of a handful. And I had no where safe to leave her while she was sleeping, like a crib so I had to be w/ her 24/7. I was glad when her dad came to get her. I had never made a bottle, burped a baby or changed a diaper so she really broke me in. I was ok all day and started puking as soon as she left, literally. I'm sick today too. Hopefully I will do ok tho, I have to go to MIL's house today for an early Christmas thing, and we are trying to go to the movies right now. Check in later ladies. Have a good weekend!

Pink - I hope you are feeling better soon

Okay here are my belly shots from 9w2d and 13w3d. I really wish had taken a prepg picture but I didn't.

I don't know the [img] resize code if there is one. If you know it...please let me know.

Overall I've gained 3lbs. I lost 4 in the beginning and have since gained 7. I can see a bump starting.

Also, I found out from my mom that my sister is giving me her son's bedroom set. Crib, hi/low tower and hutch. Wow, DH and I are very grateful.

Welcome and congrats Connorsmommy!! I've seen you on LJ - Im orangefur over there.

ds2003 I can definitely see a bump too!

Nikosmommy You've got a real belly now! I think that I'm not far behind. The second one definitely pops out earlier, I think.

Pink, I'm sorry to hear that you are still so sick. I think about you whenever I start to complain about my heartburn since it could be much, much worse.

Cute belly shots. I actually ended up feeling pretty well today, shock-a-roo! That hasn't happened in a while. We saw the Chronicles of Narnia today, it was pretty good. Except the kid running up and down the aisles in the theater with those obnoxious light up shoes. We had one of those, we'll never let our kids act like that, moments! The kid was too young to be in that movie I think, and it was like 2 1/2 hours long!

Connorsmommy I do go by the same name on LJ. I am sure I have seen you in Audrey's journal then! My daughter, Rachel was born in February 2003 so I was in the J/F/M group with Gatormom, blessed02 and Sabre etc.

Nice to see you again!

Welcome Connorsmommy!

our group is getting quite large over here!

so I know that most of you have experienced this a few weeks ago. .but since I am at the end of the month, it's my turn now to complain about just feeling fat! very few pants fit, if there is a baby belly than it's very hard to see and I am still a little too nervous to buy maternity clothes. needless to say, I have been in the same 3 pairs of pants and ratty old black cardigan for quite a while now. I finally convinced DH that we need to do something about this. so after we see the heartbeat this Tuesday, we get to go shopping. I just need a few pairs of tranisition pants and a few more winger tops. we have just been too superstitious to do anything about it before now. anyway- I am looking forward to the days where there is an obvious belly and I can completely justify not being able to fit into my skinny jeans anymore!

thanks for listening to my rant. hope everyone has a great Sunday evening!

Hi! I lurked/skim-read this thread the other day but didn't sign up to CC until today when my friend Sevilla was talking about CC to me on AIM. Anyway, I decided to join since I recognised a lot of names/people from over at WC when I used to be over there many moons ago.

Anyway, I'm Rach_in_Oz from over there and am expecting "bump" come June next year so here are my stats. Looking forward to getting to know you all.

Jesvet - I remember you too... I've seen you a couple times here and there on LJ as well -- and I thought you just HAD a baby! And now you're on to #2...how did that happen?!

Orange - I've seen you around LJ as well - nice to see some familiar names!

Lawyerwifemom - ah, yes, I've seen you around LJ for sure then... I was in the A/M/J '03 thread with Connor, but in the end should have been in the J/F/M thread, as he surprised us coming in March instead of May!

to everyone else -- Thanks for the warm welcome! I look forward to spending a little more time here!

that chinese chart was correct for my son....and this time it says another boy as well.

Everyone around me is saying this one is a girl... but I think that's more of a "they already have a boy, and so this one should be a girl" thing.

I've been saying all along that this one is a boy, which corresponds with the chinese chart. Totally different pg'y this time, which makes everyone around me think it's a girl. But DH's family is VERY dominant on the male side (80% + are male), so that's what's convincing me (though, deep down I *really* hope for a girl to 'even' things out a little).

Hopefully we'll find out for sure on Jan. 19! :)

good morning, moms-to-be

welcome to the group, connorsmommy and astlrdec!

i had a pretty rough morning. we were running around yesterday and didn't eat lunch/dinner until almost 4 o'clock. when we got home at 7, i ran to the bathroom and lost everything i had just eaten. i think i waited too long to eat and then ate too much. i spent the rest of the night on the couch and went to bed without eating or drinking anything, which meant that i woke up with a pounding headache and a sick empty stomach. but with a bagel and juice in me now, i'm feeling much much better.

today is my dh's 34th birthday. threadmistress, could you update my dh's age to 34? thanks.

the gender prediction chart said girl for me. :D

hope everyone is doing well and that those of you who celebrate christmas have all of your shopping done!

We'll after two relatively quiet days, the baby is making him/herself known again with big time MS. I just lost my breakfast, and kept throwing up past that point and I have so much to do. I haven't even started Christmas shopping for DH yet, I have to pick up dry cleaning, go grocery shopping and I was gonna stop by my Mom's house. Now I think I'll just go see Mom and pick up the dry cleaning. Hopefully it's an isolated incident.

Ruby-Is that your real first name? DH and I LOVE the name Ruby, but I'm hesitant to name the baby that because the name is so old fashioned and not very common, which is why I like the name, but at the same time I wonder what people are gonna say about it. Do you like your name? We'd love to name the baby Ruby Lane if it's a girl.

Happy Monday girls!

Welcome to the newbies!!!

The gender chart says boy for me.. but I have a gut feeling that it is a girl.. hmmmm (ok maybe not a gut ...maybe I am trying to convince myself.. :D )

Amurpy: Sorry you were so ill

GREAT BELLY SHOTS... keep them coming!!!

As for me... this A.M. I noticed a dark line starting to form down my belly... so funny... I stood there and I asked DH if I was imagining things and he said no.... I feel like this whole thing is still a dream...:)
