Congrats on the boy Baby Lust!!

Whew! I've just read the past 30 pages or so since I was last in here (we just moved and have been without internet for the last 10 days...yikes!).
CONGRATS to all those who found out the gender of their little ones, and KUDOS to those who stood strong and are keeping it a surprise.
There's been WAY too many QOTD's to catch up on, so I'll just wait until I get caught up.
As for me, we had our first appointment with our new OB here in Denver last Friday (for those who don't know, we just moved here from NYC two weeks ago). He seems really great - answering all of our questions with patience and a good sense of humor, and reassuring us that everything was checking out perfectly. Peanut’s heartbeat is going at about 150 bmp now. We have our BIG ultrasound next Wednesday the 8th.

Congrats on your boy Baby Lust.
I got bad news today! Tommorrow was supposed to be my big u/s day! But my doctor's office rescheduled me. By POSTCARD no less. They didn't even call me. They sent me a postcard that I only got today telling me that I had been rescheduled for next Tuesday, which happens to be the worst possible day for an appt. for both DH and I. Not to mention we had both already made arrangements to leave work tommorrow, now we have to do that again for next Tuesday. I called to see if they had anything for Wed or Thurs, when DH is off and it's easier for me to leave work, but if I don't go Tues, they can't see me for the u/s until Feb. 21! I am so not happy with my dr's office right now. I can't believe they sent a postcard instead of calling.

MrsBrownie: The herbs/perscription meds that are mentioned in the book to help increase milk supply aren't supposed to be started until a low milk supply is determined to be the problem. So don't worry about it now. I hope you like the book when you get it.
Baby Lust: Yea for a boy.
I'm starting to wonder if all the boys mean that a lot of the surprises are going to be girls.
Superbowl: We're having a superbowl party since we live only 20 minutes south of Pittsburgh. Go Steelers! I've had parties here for each playoff game. Since everyone is so superstitous, I have to have the superbowl party here too. Pregnancy and being awake entertaining people (including 9 children) do not go together. The game won't be over until around 11:00 that night and I have to work the next day. YUK.
Weight: I've gained 6 pounds so far. I'm starting to panic over the weight gain. I still had never lost 5 pounds from my pregnancy with Mia, so I was hoping to only gain around 25. That's not looking so possible now.
Braxton hicks: I don't think I've really had any. I never noticed them with Mia's pregnancy, so maybe I'll be lucky and not have them again.
Stretch Marks: I have them on my bbs- mostly from changing dramatically during puberty (going from nothing to a D in 4 months), not pregnancy. I hear they're hereditary and there's not much to be done. The old stretch marks I do have aren't very noticable now that they have faded over the years.
Back Pain: I have more tailbone pain than back pain.
jbenny75
02-01-2006, 05:41 PM
Superbowl We're going to a party at a friend's house. I'll have a fellow preggo to keep me company, though, while everyone else parties.
Stretchmarks I have some faint ones on the sides of my hips, and I think I see one on one of my boobs. I've been using Palmer's cream, just in case it could help. I've heard that it does and that it doesn't. I've also heard that stretch marks are hereditary. My mom only got some light ones on her inner thighs, so I'm crossing my fingers.
Glider I have one picked out by Dutalier. It was amazing when I sat in it.
Registry Still waiting to find out the sex!:(
Braxton Hicks Ididn't even know you could get them this early.:confused:
back pain None yet.
sunshine I will be praying for you and your baby girl.

Braxton Hicks – I felt them the other night and it hurt like crazy. I thought I was going into labor or something. I had no idea what they were and then realized later it was BH.

Just stopping in before bed to say CONGRATS to all of you who have had ultrasounds this week! Girls are catching up, but it looks like the boys don't want to give up the lead. :)
Pink -- I'm sorry I'm late, but I am SO happy to hear that you got such good news! I hope you'll be able to relax and enjoy your pregnancy from here on out!
sunshine -- Saying lots of prayers for you and keeping everything I can crossed that you get wonderful news tomorrow. I'll be checking as often as I can for news.
I don't know if I posted this or not, but our Level II u/s is next Monday, the 6th. The waiting is driving me crazy, so I'm counting down the days. I know the news will more than likely be good, but I just want that confirmation from a doctor.

Thanks for the congrats everyone! It was no surprise to me but DH was completely shocked! So it was fun! Everything looked fine. He is weighing 15oz and measuring right on target! My due date didn't even get changed, which my dr said is kind of rare.
Good luck to those with u/s coming up! And especially to sunshine! Everything will be just fine!! Keep us posted!

Babylust-Congrats on the boy!!!
Sunshine-Good luck! You know I'll be thinking of you :) .
lady-Thinking of you too. What you said about feeling everything was ok, but just wanting confirmation, that was me exactly toward the end.
When you ladies get good results like I did you will be so relieved. Can't wait for you to feel that...

Congrats Amanda!
Today is my 2nd day without Zofran and I've thrown up 3 times between 9am and 9am. I'm waiting on a refill right now. I'd forgotten how bad I felt before the meds really started helping. Hopefully Walgreen's is quick today.

It is still a girl :) ha ha
The u/s went ok. She was moving up a storm when they were taking the measurements & checking everything. When they put the video tape in to record her for us - she yawned put her hand up by her face flipped over & went to sleep. :( (I guess she will not grow up to be a movie star) The brain looks fine/normal Thank God. There is still a "marker" on her bowels b/c they look dense - the u/s tech said it could be from a # of things but do not worry about it. Her legs & body measured right on time.
We have another u/s & doctor appt. scheduled for Feb. 14th
Thanks for all the prayers - hugs to all you girls

Fly by post-- I have been working from our office in Denver all week instead of at home and have had to be productive!!! I skimmed all the news and QOTD but I don't have time to do shout outs.
Baby lust congratulations on your little boy!
BH yes, I have started to get a few random ones in the past week or two. My OB says if you have more than 4 in an hour, you should drink lots of water and lay on your left side. She also wants a call if they don't go away after that. Otherwise, they are perfectly normal and just your uterus practicing and strengthing. [good time for a Kegel reminder:D ]
stretch marks I've made it through 2 pgs without a one. I am HOPING that trend continues!!!
Thinking of you all and your follow up US, big US, naming adventures, etc even though I haven't been around!

Sorry I've been MIA recently, lots of stuff going on at work.
I had a regular midwife appointment on Tuesday. Everything still looks great and she was able to find the heartbeat instantly! I gained 4 pounds for a total of 17 since pre-pregnancy :eek: As long as I stay under 40 total I'll be happy. My usual midwife was on vacation so I saw someone else. I asked her about my pubic symphysis problem and she didn't have much to say to me other than that I should rest and that it would go away after the baby is born. I'm still trying to get an appointment with a physical therapist but she's quite booked up.
furniture I forgot who it was that posted that tall cabinet but as a parent of a toddler - my first thought was to bolt it to the wall as well! My DD tries to climb on everything. It is a very nice looking cabinet though.
gliders We have a Dutalier and I love it. It is so comfy and still in like-new condition after over 2 years of daily use. If you want to save money, you can get a wooden nursing stool instead of the ottoman and still be very comfy.
stretch marks Still got 'em from my last pregnancy. The faded really fast though. My DH said that the ones I got early on in the first pg down low are turning red again. I can't see down there without a mirror though. :p

So yesterday was a right of passage of some sort. I packed up all of my regular clothes and put all of my preggo clothes into the closet. I hit a sale at The Gap and got some fun stuff for real cheap.
I was amazed at the difference when I tried on some maternity clothes. I definitely looked pregnant but you could see what's left of a body under there. Until now I was just wearing clothes a couple of sizes larger (even though I have just gained 2 pounds) and I looked like a house.
Our cleaning lady is coming tonight---I get so sick when I am around the smells so I think that I am going to use it as an excuse to go shopping for me and the baby ---teeeheeeeheee

So happy for you Sunshine that everything is looking well.
So I see several of you have more u/s scheduled. Is that standard or do you have a particular risk factor? My doc said no more u/s unless something goes wrong. I have to admit that it's fun lying there watching baby. Now I have to wait another 4 months before seeing her again. :(

Hello All :D
sun Glad everything went ok with the u/s.
lady Waiting for the u/s is the worst, but everything will be fine.
izzy I'm having more u/s's due to all the risk factors.
SuperBowl: Brian and all of my IL's are Steelers fans, so GO STEELERS :D I have a pix to post of Niko later in his Steelers gear.
So I went to the dr today and he's doing ok. My bp is back to normal (it was very low while I was in the hosp) and I didn't get scolded for not drinking too much. She said my scar looks good and it may not stretch too much. I don't really care, the baby is healthy, that's all that matters.
I sat down with the baby name book again last night and came up with these:
Abraham (Abe); Alexander (Alex or Zander); Benjamin (Ben); Dominik (Dom); Gabriel (Gabe); Lukas (Luke); Sabastian (??); and Zachary (Zach). Not sure if Brian looked at the list. Those are just the first name. He still doesn't want Michael so I have to think of another family members name :/ Men :/
Bad mommy post: Last night Niko got up on the couch and was sitting by the edge. I was playing with him and turned to him, scared him and he fell off sideways and hit the coffee table. He hit his left eye in the outside corner. He cut it open and now has a bruise on his eyelid (which is also swollen & purple) and the side of his head.
I cried the first time he got hurt, but after that I played it low key. Well before he hit the floor I was in tears. I feel so bad cause I feel like I could have caught him.
He woke up this morning like nothing ever happened. I thought he'd be very low key today but he was standing in his crib this morning yelling mommy just like every morning.End of bad mommy post

Dutailier Gliders-Are the ones they have at Target not as good of quality as ones you can get other places? They are $199.
Sunshine-Glad to hear things are looking good.
Registered for a few odds and ends at Target today. My main registry will be a BRU and I plan to do that this weekend.

Kaeden’smommy – glad you are feeling better.
Izzy – I’m having another u/s because the tech could not get a good look at the heart.
Shaqangel – I haven’t had to deal with the strangers touching the belly. I don’t know what I will do. I hope I have the nerve to tell them that I don’t like for people I don’t know to touch my belly.
Nikosmommy – what a scary accident. Glad that nikos is back to himself

Shaqangel---it's been hard to gain since I throw up everything! I am also behind most of ya, since I am only at 18w2d.
I am still overweight, even though I lost 35 pounds right before I got pregnant so luckily the baby has some extra room to take over---lol!
It is so crazy though...NOTHING fits--even in a two sizes up from what I was wearing because everything redistributed---but when I tried on the maternity clothes I still could wear my original size and it looked decent.

You ladies are hard to keep up with, it took 10 pages to catch up!! Anyone feeling prenatal blues? I have been feeling so down in the dumps lately:( Maybe it's because I have nothing prepared for this baby. His room literally has no walls. My husband does carpentry on the side so every weekend he is working on someone else's house and it's starting to stress me out:mad: He keeps telling me we have plenty of time, it will only take one weekend (heard that before) which equals about 6 weeks his time. We have plenty of baby gear already, but I want to start getting my son used to a big boy room now before the new baby comes and buy his new furniture and DH is just not getting it!!
BH contractions-Is is weird that I never had them with first baby? I didn't know they came so early on or even what they feel like. Any of the previous Mom's have this experience too?
PS-Congrats on the new genders:D :D

Dh just told me his co-worker who is about to have a baby is giving his baby's room an "Extreme Makeover" along with his IL's. It's a suprise for the mom to be :) . They are making a domed ceiling out of their 12 ft high ceiling in the baby's room with mouldings around it with lights behind them and clouds on the dome and everything. I told him it's going to look like our kid is living in a shoebox next to that :rolleyes: !

Post about the rough days (http://www.constantchatter.com/showthread.php?t=14666)
Good luck with getting the room done. Why are men so hard at committing to get something done. I hope you can find some incentive to help him get to it quick! Planning the room does help in feeling better about the pregnancy.
Babylust: My 1hr GTT is scheduled for Feb 23. The doc gave me the "juice" at my last appointment and I am to drink it exactly 55-60 min before the appointment (or else I have to do it again).

GTT it's not scheduled yet. I'm sure it will be scheduled at my next appt on Feb. 16. I wish I could get out of it. :p
Showers my coworkers asked me today if I am having a shower, and I told them my IL's would probably throw one for me, but now they want to throw one for me as well. They told me to get together a list of names. :D I feel so loved! (When DH and I got married it was like pulling teeth to get anyone to throw me a shower and it felt like a hassle. This is nice.)
Sunshine so glad everything looks normal. :)
QUESTION: I had my u/s on the 26th and my next dr appt isn't scheduled until 2/16. If the tech had found something out of the ordinary would my dr call me to see me earlier, or would she just wait till my regular appt?
jay&erinn
02-02-2006, 05:28 PM
Mystikal: My guess is your doc would call if something was wrong. Mine never calls with normal results, only abnormal. Otherwise they just comment on them at my next appt.
GTT: I wish I could get out of it too. I hated doing it the first time around.
Showers: No shower here. Mia won't even be 3 by the time the new baby comes. We have enough crap around here taking up space. I definately don't need any more.
Remodeling: This has been my life for the past 6 years- since we moved into this house. We're now re-doing our old master bedroom (we put on an addition a year and a half ago) for Mia's big girl room. Instead of just painting and decorating, DH decided to rip out the exterior walls and insulate. It's an old, old house with plaster walls that have no insulation in them. In the long run it should help our gas bills go down- in the short term, it's a pain in the butt. I thought I was finally done with dry wall dust- guess not.

Hello Again :D
remodeling We only have a 3 bedroom and we're moving Niko into the office/guest room. We decided to finish the basement but at least start with 1/2 to make a guest room & play room. I keep telling Brian that he needs to start but he says we have time. Yeah, the baby will be here, guests having to stay in a hotel and we'll have time :rolleyes:
shower Even though we have everything for a little boy, our play group still wants to have one for us. The organizer says every baby deserves their own party. Two of the other moms are pg too and we're having one for them. We're doing diapers, wipes, etc. So that's what we're asking for. Plus a few things for the new baby, like a first teddy, and his own blankie but nothing big.
I know it's awkward to have another, but it will be nice to get the stuff we need.
GTT She told me today that they'll schedule it after my next appt. My dr told me today that they have a new flavor - Hawaiian Punch flavor. BabyLust When I did my test with Niko, they let me sleep on one of the tables after I drank the stuff.
Forgot to mention... when I went to the dr today I asked about Sushi. She said being I'm out of the first tri it's ok. She said as long as it's from a reputable place and it's not every day, it's ok. So tonight Brian and I went to an all you can eat Chinese buffet. Well not only did they have sushi but they had raw clams. I went to down. Actually I ate to much and thought I was going to bust, but I had fun doing it :D

Good Morning!!
We made two more purchases yesterday. Now I hope I can stop buying until after my showers. Earlier this week I ordered 2 Lands’ End diaper bags (Do-It-All and Little Tripper) which are scheduled to arrive today. Since then I have been looking for a medium size bag for daycare use. I found some recommendations for the LL Bean Diaper bag so I ordered it last night. None of the bags are in exciting colors. I’ve ordered them in black since they have to be DH friendly. So for roughly $100 (incl. tax and shipping) I have 3 diapers bags from great merchants. Once I get the LL Bean bag I’ll give some prelim reviews and try to post a picture of the 3 bags together for a size comparison.
Now for my second purchase, we stopped by the Little Me store after dinner last night. Now I only focus on boy clothes and didn’t realize how cute the clothes are in there. I already had purchased a “bringing home baby outfit” that I am sure is way too big. The set includes a onesie, pants, jacket and socks I don’t remember a hat. Anyhow, I have been second guessing the onesie idea because of the umbilical cord. While in Little Me we found the cutest pants and shirt set with a bear that reads “Welcome Home”. I hate to pay full price for stuff, but we caved. DH also picked out a cable knit white sweater with a matching hat and I grabbed a pack of socks.
I now have to ban myself from any stores. I’m still debating whether to buy the remaining Vintage Truck stuff off our registry so people don’t assume we are having a boy.
How big of a bag do you think we will need for the hospital? RO’s did you pack your stuff separate from the babies’ stuff? I’m hoping to have three bags…one for DH, the baby, and me, but that just seems so cumbersome.
Good Luck SuperBowl watchers. DH and I will be at an international food night at a friend’s house. None of us are into football. Now if it was the World Cup that would be a whole other story for DH.

ds2003, did you already choose a daycare for your baby? I just ask because you may not need a seperate diaper bag. At my DD's center, they provide a cubby or basket to store extra clothes, diapers, medicine, whatever. We also got a tote bag that we use to transport her naptime linens and outdoor gear each week. All we take on a daily basis is a cooler with her lunch and milk - would be bottles for a younger baby.
NikosMommy Niko is too cute in his Steelers outfit!
Pink, I like Hayden Parker best as well.
GTT, I won't take this until 28 weeks. My next appointment will be 25 weeks and the one after is 29 weeks, so I may have to go in just for the test. Hopefully I can just do it at the 29 week appt.
ds2003
02-03-2006, 07:49 AM
Orange – we have not even started to look for daycare. I really need to get going on that. I already have a list. Since we are cloth diapering, we will need to transport dipes every day. If there is a cubby, I’ll just stick the bag in it each morning. Do you have to keep her lunch in the cooler or do they refrigerate it once you get there?
GD test – I was told 26-28weeks. My next app is at 22 weeks so I’ll get the lab sheet for it at my following appt at 26 weeks. I think after my 26 week appt. I switch to every two weeks.
Y'all move just way too fast for me to keep up with! I spend all my time reading and never have time to do SOs! Maybe once I'm home starting next month I'll be able to stay abreast. :o
Anyway, a big congrats to everyone who's had the big u/s and super big congrats to those with good follow-up results. We have our follow-up u/s for the stomach calcification next Tuesday. I'm not overly worried because they didn't see anything else abnormal, but I'm still keeping my fingers crossed that we'll get the "all clear" like everyone else has so far.
GTT - Forgot all about that. They said around 24 weeks, so probably the last week of this month. Yuck. Not really looking forward to that.
remodeling - We're, uh, not even living in our house right now. We moved out in November and will get to move back in May if we're lucky. :eek: When we bought our house, we knew we'd be doing a sizable remodel (cheaper than buying an already redone place and more to our taste, too!) We just didn't realize how the timing would work out. It's exciting though. When done, it won't be *huge* but it'll be so much more space than we had before!
Other things of note: Braxton Hicks - check, back pain - check, sciatic pain - check, people asking me if I'm in the last month or two - check, strectch marks - shhhhhhh, belly touching - surprisingly none yet, names - not even close, hospital bag - ditto
And a quick question for our RO's. If invited to a co-ed shower would you go alone and leave DH w/ DC or come with DH AND DC or find a sitter? I'm asking because most of my close girlfriends have little ones. They're all super busy and no one has mentioned a shower yet. But a gay couple that we're friends with has offered to throw one. Naturally, it would be co-ed. I'm trying to decide whether my girlfriends will be annoyed or not. Of course, if they are, I don't know what I could do about. I don't want to ask someone to throw me a party. I dunno. I'm stumped.
Nikosmommy - Aw. What a cute little Steelers fan you've got there! Hope he has fun on Sunday.
Mystikal - I'm late to the party, but Julia was actually one of my top contenders if we'd had girls, so I say stick to your guns!

Trying to catch up .... and possibly update the thread with all of the latest news!!
pink I like Hayden Cooper or Hayden Parker. So glad everything is looking good!
ds2003 we're headed out this weekend to do some 'research' and I'm really going to try not to buy too much stuff! It's so tempting! Even though we don't know the gender, I'm sure the Carter's outlet store will suck us in! I've heard great things about the Land's End diaper bags - I'm curious to hear how they compare. Do they sell them at Sears?
nikosmommy adorable pic! Glad Niko is o.k.!
showers I believe my family & friends started the 'buzz' about a shower at our New Year's Day brunch. I have told my DH and my mom in no uncertain terms that it will NOT be a surprise. My bridal shower was a 'surprise' and the stress of knowing (but 'not knowing') was just too much. I can imagine it would be worse being pregnant. They don't need to tell me the details, just the date. My co-workers will most certainly have a shower as well.
ruby {{HUGS}} Sorry you're feeling so blue. I went through a period of that (no weight gain, few dr appts, not ready to buy anything, etc) a few weeks back. I know everyone talks about pregnancy being 9 months, but I never thought it would feel like forever! I'm sure in my 9th month I'll say it flew by, but now it's frustrating. You do have time, though! Can you and your DH agree on a 'finish date'?
maryanne isn't it wonderful to have someone to really share the experience with? My MOH is due in April and we talk all the time (she's in Chicago, I'm in NY) and compare notes. She's great at reassuring me and 'prepping' me for the next stage.
gliders currently considering options. I'm afraid that once I sit in a $500 Dutailier at BRU, I won't be able to go back :o I'm afraid it won't get the use I think it will. We may have a 'lender', but I don't know the type, etc. It may be something we hold off on if we can borrow one and see how often it's used!
kaedensmommy glad you're feeling better!
sunshine good to hear about the markers not being as serious as they thought. We all worry so much and the appointments take forever to schedule! UGH! BTW - I'm partial to Caroline ;)
ladyjg wishing all the best for your appointment on Monday
jbenny sometimes dr's offices can be so frustrating :mad: I just love how they think you can just drop everything and come in (for an emergency, yes, but normally, no!). Hope you got an appointment.
gina73 welcome back! Hope the move went smoothly!
baby movement DH felt the baby move last week. It was so cool. I feel it mostly as I'm trying to go to sleep. One night it was so disconcerting!
ds2003 and ryan LOVE the Mill Store! We're too far away for a casual trip, but love going whenever we pass through the areas!
weight gain as of 20w, I'm up 7.5 lbs. Of course that was all between 16 & 20 weeks! So I'm doing o.k., but a little exercise wouldn't hurt. I'll be trying to stay under 25 lbs due to my beginning weight.
baby food considering it - glad someone mentioned the grinder attachment for the stand mixer! I like to cook and I'd like to start new tastes and textures.
baby lust - congrats on your boy!
shoulda - congrats on your girl!
gender questions I was surprised at how many people seemed glad we weren't finding out. Or maybe they would just say they were glad?
doula seriously considering, but depending on the cost. I'd like a little more support and I think DH will need the break and someone to reassure him!
Have a great weekend everyone!!

Everett Cooper (Why does this sound so familiar? Isn't there a famous person with this as part of their name)
Perhaps you're thinking of former Surgeon General C. Everett Koop? (My vote's for Hayden Cooper, but I'd have to hear it with your last name to be sure.)

Nikos ~ Niko is too cute for words!
Pink ~ Hayden Parker is my favorite too! :D
How big of a bag do you think we will need for the hospital? RO’s did you pack your stuff separate from the babies’ stuff?I did take my own suitcase, as did DH. For DS we had a diaper bag with a couple outfits, receiving blankets, burp clothes, diapers, etc. The hospital I deliver at has shirts for baby when they're born to where in the hospital.
Jad ~ Sending positive vibes your way for the next u/s. Hope those little boys are growing away!

sorry I don't have time for SO's today, work is really keeping me busy.
but thank you all for the congratulations on our baby girl! it really is fun to be able to identify her as a "she." the name part is going to be so hard.
quick question. . is there ANYONE out there still not feeling much movement? I have felt her kick a few times, lots of butterflies in the belly that I am not 100% sure are movements. my doctor said not to worry, I shouldn't be that concerned at this point but with all the movement you all are feeling, I can't help but worry a little. Thanks in advance. . .

shoulda ~ Your doctor is right. I'm almost 22 weeks and am now feeling more consistent movement. I can tell when she's awake and asleep (most of the time) and can plan my day around it. It varies for everyone, but the size and placement of your little girl will affect how much you feel. Also, she's still small so you're not going to feel everything. Hang in there. Pretty soon she'll be beating you up! :)

Good morning everyone!
The board certainly does move quickly, but I'm trying to follow along as much as possible.
Babylust ~ Congrats on your BOY and welcome to the club. I see from the update that Boys are outnumbering the Girls almost 2 to 1...I wonder why?
[/b]Shoulda[/b] Congrats on your GIRL.
Nikos ~ Glad to hear that you are feeling better, sorry to hear about Nikos little mishap, but he seems to have recovered faster than mom and his Superbowl Outfit is just way to cute. We've already (well, I have) started to buy Toronoto Maple Leafs clothing for our little guy, as DH is a die-hard fan.
Jad ~ Thinking about you for the next U/S...the good news, everyone so far has had great and reassuring results, I'm sure you won't be any exception. And lucky you that you get off work next month, wish I was there with you (although I noticed you've received lots of comments about being in your last month, I guess you are looking quite big.)
Pink ~ I love Hayden Parker, if you were wanting my opinion. I think it sounds great!
DS ~ You are just like me on the diaper bag situation. I purchased a messenger style bag, but figured it was too big for short trip, so purchased a smaller messenger style bag. Then realized that neither of the bags would work for DH, so I'm currently on the search for a backpack style bag for him. I'm currently bidding on a camo look bag on Ebay, hopefully he will use it.
Gina ~ Glad to hear the move went well and you are back...hopefully the transition hasn't been too much for you and you are enjoying Denver.
Remodeling ~ All I have to say is that I feel sorry for you ladies having to go through the stress. Thankfully DH and I moved into a new house just over a year ago, so no remodeling to be done. We do have to paint the baby's room though, and DH isn't too interested in starting it yet. I'm pushing him though and like alot of you have said, I will indulge him for another week or two and then 'Pregozilla' may have to come out and get things moving.
Buying stuff ~ I'm pretty much out of control when it comes to buying things, but I don't think it's a bad thing. I've actually been buying small and rather insignificant things. Last week I spent about $60 at Walmart buying stuff like a hairbrush, nasal aspirator, outlet plugs, zincofax, etc. Things that I can't see others worrying about or remembering to buy for us. The way I see it, if I pick up things here and there (or every paycheque) then we aren't going to have to rush out and spend a ton of money at once buying things we've forgot.
This weekend I plan to empty out the baby's room (currently spare bedroom) and organize it all in the basement. I also want to start washing and hanging the clothes we've gotten (my mom gives us something every week and the used stuff from my sister (smells like her dogs) so I know what we have and what we need.
All our baby furniture has been purchased and my mom now knows that we aren't using the second hand crib (I was worried to tell her but she was fine with it.) She's also committed to buying us the travel system or most of it anyways. I really wanted to Peg Perego Pliko P3 stroller and the Viaggio Car Seat to match...but have heard mixed reviews on the Viaggio Car Seat. So I think I will ask het to get us the Peg stroller and the Graco Snugride.
And DH has been complaining that he 'hasn't picked anything yet...do I get any say at all.' So I told him he could do the reserach on the car seat and stoller and make a decision. He's decided he would be fine just to be able to choose the colour :rolleyes: So we will go look at that this weekend too and hopefully pick the paint colour for the nursery.
That's it for me...I've definitely popped a little more in the last week and my belly button is starting to disappear (it was very deep and now is almost flat.) And thankfully, for a Bigger Girl, I've got a nice round belly going on. I was worried that I either wouldn't show, or I'd have a funny/lumpy belly with all my extra fat...but it's rounded quite nicely. I think tonight is a picture night too, perfect at 23w.

Movement ~ Shoulda, I just wanted to come in and reassure you that at 23weeks, I am JUST NOW (like in the last two days) feeling movements. They are still VERY faint and I'm not always sure if they are gas bubbles or baby.
I was really worried too, especially when so many have had DH's feel the baby and I wasn't feeling it. But they are starting to become more frequent.
It took alot for me not to worry about it, but after the 3rd Ultrasound Tech said that our baby was EXTREMELY active, I figured it was just me...so I've relaxed a bit. I know he's healthy and growing and his H/B is strong and that's what counts.
Having said that, two nights ago I had the weirdest feeling. DH and I were walking down the hall, when all of a sudden the baby moved sides. It caught me off guard, but it was like my whole belly turned from one side to the other. DH just looked at me like I was crazy (as I stopped walking and grabbed my belly) but I'm sure that's what it was.
So...long story short (sorry) just wait a couple of more weeks and hopefully it will come. I've been told to count my blessings that I haven't felt it until now, as now is when it will be constant.

pink: I like Hayden Parker also
shoulda: is there ANYONE out there still not feeling much movement?My baby girl moves at certain times of the day it seems like (when I am driving home from work with music playing or right when I get in the bed for the night) other than that I might feel a bonk here & there but somedays I do not feel much movement at all - Go eat something sweet & see if she get more active ... lol
Dh mentioned the name to me : Ryan Hope LastName what do yall think? I have noticed that Ryan is getting more popular for girls lately but I am not sure ... I just told him we would add it to our very short list. Caroline Hope , Carleigh Hope, Katelynn Hope.

Sorry First Timer Here- What's the GTT test? I'm guessing my dr will say something to me about it next week at my appointment?
Pink- I like Everett Cooper the best. I don't know any Everetts so I'm thinking he will be the only Everett in his class.
Baby Showers- I don't think I remembered to post but we have a date for my first baby shower! My work one will be March 24th! I'm thinking we won't have a family/friends one until the end of April. I want them well spread apart, so I can reconsider my registry before the next one.
Buying Stuff- I want to sneak to Mervyns at lunch next week. They have a huge baby section and are closing down (I think they will be replaced by Kohls). I can't wait to see how low their stuff is marked down! Maybe I will have to break down and tell one of my coworkers so that I can go shooping with her. She was the first to know that I was pregnant and she kept that a secret.
Sunshine- I like Ryan Hope. Actually, I like all the names you have picked out so far! Great name picks!
Tummy Touching- No problems with this. I have had two very close friends touch it but for them to do it is endearing. I would feel awkward if a coworker touched it just because I like to keep professional there.
Movement- I don't feel the baby often. Usually, I can feel him working out after I work out. I joke that it's his turn to exercise and after he's done we have Oreo cookies! I also feel the baby more often in the car. Not sure what the correlation is there.
I need to go on a Starbucks run.... They have a new Cinnamon Dulce Latte that tastes like a cinnamon roll in a cup!

Bottleored – Lands’ End Bag – I saw the Do-It-All bag at Sears mid last year, but since then I have not seen it. When I saw it, there was only one. You could try calling Sears and asking.
Shower – someone would have to be very very sneaky to plan a surprise shower for me. My parents and the ILs are out of town so they would have to coordinate with our schedule for us to go home and I don’t really have any close close friends here anymore. They have moved away.
I like Ryan Hope too.
So I guess I will have to have 3 separte bags. Thanks for the info Kaeden’s Mommy. I forgot that I plan to take some extra pillows and my Boppy. With all these bags we won’t have space for the baby. :o)
Lil Mrs – The GTT is the gestational diabetes test. I don’t know what the GTT stands for..maybe is glucose…test. You have a shower coming up pretty soon.

ds2003, Ah, that makes sense that you will need the extra diaper bag if you are CDing. I hope you have no trouble finding a place that will work with you, although I don't see why not. I briefly thought about CDing, but i can't keep up with the laundry as it is, so it's disposies for us.
Now that she's in the toddler room, her lunch stays in the cooler and they don't heat anything up. If we want to pack a hot lunch we need to put it in a thermos. However, when she was in the infant room, we could keep her food in the fridge and they would heat it up. I think the reason is just because of the space in the fridge and time it takes to heat food. She didn't start at the center until she was 12 months old (she was in "Older Infants" until 15 months) and there were only 3 kids in her room so it was easy for the teacher to heat up the food. Now there are 9 kids (and 2 teachers) so that's why they have everyone pack an easy to manage lunch.
Hospital bag I forgot to answer this one before. We just chucked everything into one bag, not organized at all. We were at a birth center rather than a hospital though so we were on our way home 12 hours after birth and didn't need much stuff. I just packed a change of clothes for each of us, basic toiletries, a few diapers, baby blanket, baby outfit, snacks, camera, extra batteries. I may have packed a book or magazine or something but I didn't read anything.

sunshine i like Ryan Hope too - but if suggested that to my DH he'd say Ryan is a guys name since we know too many male ryan's. i like all your name choices.
Pink I like Hayden Parker as well.
shoulda my dh hasnt felt any movement yet, but i'm feeling it much, much more each day.
buying stuff we bought a bunch of clothes when we were home in south africa (well my mum did) and i got baby's coming home outfit and my friends also bought me lotsa stuff. we havent purchased anything here yet. but our first purchase will be the crib. we actually wrote out a plan of action for each month for things we need to do to get ready before baby comes.
showers my work is definitely doing one and our church is doing one. i'm not sure if dh's job will do one (they usually are pretty generous with stuff like that) and i havent heard anything from friends and i dunno if they will.
registering we havent done this yet....i thought it was kinda early to do so but seeing that most of u have already registered i guess we need to get going here!
Shaq-can I borrow your DH? He seems much more organized than mine;) Good for you!

Hello Again :D
Thanks for all the compliments on my little Steelers Man :D That pix was taken before the fall.
Pink & Sun I wish I could help on the names, but I'm still in a name tornado myself :/ They all sound nice though :)
Hosp Bag: I packed one outfit for Niko, the hosp had shirts for him the whole time. I packed a set of clothes for Brian and his shower stuff - L&D has a shower in the room. For me I packed my shower bag, going home clothes & pajamas. The pj's didn't get worn cause I was bleeding so much that I didn't want to ruin them - sorry for tmi :( I also packed nail clippers for the Niko and he needed them the first day, both fingers & toes! The hosp pretty much supplied everything for him, down to the wipes. The car ride home was short so we didn't need a diaper bag.
If you're going to nurse, pack a nursing bra, and breast pads. I started leaking the morning after Niko came :/
For those of you waiting to have your babies room painted... if you go get the stuff and then take all the steps to paint the room & get it ready, I bet once your husband sees you doing it, he'll do it. That's usually how I get Brian to do something. I get everything ready, lay it out and the last thing I do is get the ladder. If I'm painting, I ask him to help me "tape off some stuff" and that's when he realizes I'm going to do it, and he does it.
Try it, it may work ;)
Ok, I'm off to check email. If I'm not back over the weekend, have a great one :D

Orange – I can understand the “easy to manage” lunch although I’m surprised they don’t put it in the fridge for you. I hope to only stay at the hospital for one night so maybe DH and I can get our stuff into one bag and put the baby’s stuff in a second bag.
Shaqangel – you can still wait to register. We registered earlier than I originally planned..it must have been the mommy thread peer pressure :o). I tried to only add new items to avoid things becoming discontinued. I’m sure there will be few things that we will have to change later.

NIkosmommy – I hope the hospital provides everything so all I will have to bring for him are diapers, covers and a going home outfit or two plus a hat. Great idea for get the DHs working. I’m sure DH would jump in a second if he saw me starting to open some paint.
Please, if my DH saw me starting to paint he would tell me to make sure I did 2 coats!! (that is exaggerating) Anyway, that isn't even an option for me as I am still waiting for walls! :mad: I need "Rent a Husband"
Sunshine-I love the name Ryan for a little girl, I'm really into the gender neutral names but with the middle name, it reminds me of that old soap opera, "Ryan's Hope"! Does anyone remember that one?

Ruby – If I wasn’t pregnant my DH would say the same thing, but since I am he would grab the paint from me and probably tell me to leave the house.
Kaeden’s mommy – depending on how much weight I gain this pregnancy, DH may put me out and make me walk.

Ruby ~ DH is adamant that I not be in the house when he paints, which sucks cause he sure could use my help...but, at least he's going to do it (with alot of prodding from me.)
I know I am stressing too much, but I remember how settled I felt after the baby shower when the nursery was done and everything was in it's place. I really want that for this baby too so I can just focus on being a Mom to two when I get home.
MrsBrownie
02-03-2006, 12:52 PM
I can totally relate Ruby. I feel like we are so far behind with only having four months left to prepare (I know, I know...DH has already read me the riot act) but I want everything to be in place so I can go to the hospital, have a baby and come home to settle in.
I also don't want to rely too much on Showers to get alot of our stuff. I think DH thinks we are going to get everything we need at a shower, but I don't even know if anyone is planning on throwing one or who will come. I'd rather buy the stuff myself and not have to worry about getting it closer to the birth.
It's probably just me, but I was this way for the wedding too...and in the end, my organization and analness (is that a word?) helped immensely in keeping us calm.
I guess men will never understand the nesting instinct. We sound alot alike, I was a total control freak planning the wedding, but everything turned out perfect and exactly how I wanted it when the day came ( I just drove everyone crazy beforehand)

02-03-2006, 03:53 PM
Sunshine I too thought vaguely of the soap, but I am OLD and I wasn't even sure I was remembering the name right! No one your daughter's age will have even heard of it and probably very few of her friend's parents.
I think both names are pretty and Ryan seems to be gaining popularity as a girl's name. Did you know that Meredith was a boy's name until about 1950!!!
Baby Lust
02-03-2006, 04:12 PM
Sunshine, I have never heard of that soap, so I highly highly doubt people would relate her name to that. I think it is adorable!!
Niko, Taking a nap on the table made me LOL! I should ask about that! :p
Question: For those of you not sharing your name choice IRL, how do you tactfully tell people that when they ask without sounding like a you-know-what?? Right now we have been telling people that we haven't decided on one, but that will only work for so long! :rolleyes: So what do you say??
gina73
02-03-2006, 04:48 PM
Hearing everyone talk of bags for the hospital and cribs and such makes me feel soooo far behind! We haven't even started looking around yet. Although DH voluntarily suggested we go to BRU this weekend. What a cute and proud papa.
Sunshine - I'm with lawyerwifemom - I thought about the soap briefly, but I'm not a spring chicken either, and I'm also a tv junkie. I doubt most people will remember it.
Names - I've been saying the same thing - that we're undecided. It sort of stinks because we told DH's family a looooong time ago what we thought we'd name a boy. So now they're on to us. But we may still change our minds.
Since I haven't weighed in on the name choice thing, mind if I spill mine here and get some opinions?
DH's initials are J.E.T. His fathers is the same, and I think he wants to keep with tradition. So, we've always liked Jacob Ethan T, with the nickname of Jake. Jacob is also part of my maiden name, so it's a nice tip of the hat to my family/father. But DH has been reading that Jacob has been the most popular boy's name for the last 4 years in a row. We don't want our child to have to deal with becoming yet another Jacob or Jake in his classes, but at the same time, the name keeps surfacing at the top.
The other name we really like, but it wouldn't be a JET is Brady Cooper.
Any thoughts?
Baby Lust
02-03-2006, 04:51 PM
Gina, Your DH is right... Jacob has been #1 for a very long time!!! If the popularity factor doesn't matter much to you, go for it! It's a cute name and a nice tradition! This is just my opinion, but I like Brady Cooper better. Just my opinion! You could always take those 2 names to the hospital and decide one you see him. :)
IzzyJune2006
02-03-2006, 05:38 PM
gina73 I prefer Jacob Ethan. I think if there are too many Jacob's his age, they can just call him Jet. How cool is that? I like it. Have you considered alternatives to Jacob that also start with a J?
nikosmommy That picture of Niko is too adorable. I'm almost glad that we're having a girl just so DH won't be as tempted to go team crazy with the gear. Though I am trying to encourage him to give her the same opportunities he would a boy.
jay&erinn
02-03-2006, 05:51 PM
gina: All of the boys in DH's family have the initials JAA. Luckily my other SIL broke the tradition first, so I won't be the b!tch if we have a boy. I love the name Jacob (I have a nephew named Jacob Alexander).
Sunshine: I love the name Ryan for a girl. I've always loved gender neutral names for girls (not so much for boys). It's currently on the list I have made of possible names. Of course, once DH gets a hold of that list, I'll be lucky if any of my choices are left. I met a girl named Evan not too long ago, and instantly liked it too.
Hospital Bag: I took two changes of clothes for me (one for the first full day after delivery and one to go home in). I stayed in the gown the night after I delivered and then changed after I showered the next morning. It was more comfy to be in my sweats with friends and family stopping by to see Mia. I took a change of clothes for DH, shower supplies, a pillow, and a going home outfit for Mia. I also had some snacks for DH, so he wouldn't have to leave the room for food if he was starving and it was getting close. One other thing- I think DH will make me pack him a blanket this time around. Apparently I wanted the room as cold as possible and practically froze him out. I think it was probably 62 degrees in the room. Poor guy. I was, however, quite comfortable.
Keep in mind, you might want a going home outfit in two different sizes. Mia was almost 7 pounds and the 0-3 month stuff was HUGE on her. It looked a little rediculous. I'm sure if you have a 9 pound baby it'd be different. Mia fit in premie and newborn (from Target) sizes until about 3-4 weeks old.
Not telling names: We didn't with Mia. After awhile, people stopped asking. We're, so far, being truthful in saying we have no idea- since we really don't. Well, I have some ideas, but DH will put his 2 cents in and that'll be it. We also said that we had it narrowed down, but weren't making a decision until we saw her. That was also the truth. We had 3 boy and 3 girls names going in. She just looked like a Mia after we saw her.
Nikos: I agree- GO STEELERS!!!!!! Are you from Pittsburgh? I live 20 minutes south of the city. This week has been a lot of fun. I'm sure I'll have pics of Mia in her Hines Ward jersey after the game this weekend.

shoulda- I'm feeling the same way you do. I'm 20w 5d, and have only felt a couple times what I think could be some movement. It makes me worried a little, but I was at the Drs at 19w and the heartbeat was strong, and my Dr said in the next few weeks I should feel it move more. I have my u/s on Tuesday, so hopefully that will make me feel better that everything is oK. Its good to hear all the reassurance from everyone though!!

Hill-C. Everett Koop-That exactly who I was thinking of, thank you.
Sunshine-Love the name.
Names-Thanks for the votes.
Gliders-For the price of an ottoman and chair at BRU I found out you could get a bada$$ rocking recliner from Lazyboy so I think I'm going that route. And you can move it to anothe room when you are done w/ it and get a lot of use out of them. I don't like the look of a recliner, but it will definately serve it's purpose and mom's buying so why not :D !
Off to catch up on the rest of the thread...

Orange – I can understand the “easy to manage” lunch although I’m surprised they don’t put it in the fridge for you.
ds2003, they just don't have room in the fridge for all those lunches. They will keep 2 sippy cups per kid in there and that pretty much takes up the whole fridge - it is just one of those mini dorm size fridges. They have a regular-sized refrigerator in the kitchen where I suppose the could store something for you if necessary, but it is just as easy to pack a sandwich, fruit, veggies and a yogurt and stick an ice pack in the lunchbox. For younger kids who are on solids but aren't eating sandwiches, they will refrigerate and heat up since the classes are smaller and it is easier to manage.
I'm curious to see how they handle the EBM. Since my DD didn't start at this center until she was over a year, I never sent breast milk there (I stopped pumping at a year) and just nursed her at home. I've heard horror stories about daycare centers wasting a lot of EBM because of very strict rules on handling it. I'm prepared to send 20 1 ounce bottles if I have to!

Pink - I forgot to respond - I saw your thread on the name Cooper. I have a nephew named Cooper and it is a very cute name. He's only 2 so hasn't been subjected to any teasing but before my DD could pronounce her hard c's very well, she did call him Pooper. Obviously she wasn't picking on him, but I never would have thought of that if she didn't start saying that. I don't have the mind of an elementary school kid though.

I really like the name Brady Cooper.
Well dh & I had a "name fest" this morning - I printed out the top 10 names for 2004, top 50 for 2005 & a top 100 names for our state. we went through & circled any names that we liked - we only had 3 that we both liked katelynn, Sarah, Peyton. Then I made an excel sheet of all the names we liked (30 names) & we played the rating system on each. 0 hate it - 5 love it. from his sheet & my sheet these are the top 15 names ... Caroline, Peyton, Abigail, Avery, Courtney, Katelynn, Ryan, Sarah, Carleigh, Madison, Bailey, Lauren, Madison, Addison, Allison. For some reason dh is hooked on Peyton Hope today ... on u/s day it was Ryan Hope. Oh geez. This is gonna be a major decision. Ugggg lol

Well, I've finally made some progress on getting the baby's stuff organized.
I've unpacked and sorted *most* of what I've bought and what I've been given into piles. The stuff that came second hand I've started the washing process and it's going pretty well actually. The rocker seat and car seat fabric has washed up really well (used colour safe bleach too) and it's all hanging. DH and I cleaned up the basement (with alot of complaining from DH) but we are now ready to clean out the spare room in prep for painting in a couple of weeks.
It's exciting to see some progress being made. I just wish I had somewhere to put all the stuff I've bought/washed. I guess it will store for a couple more weeks until the furniture is in...then I can re-wash it all (it all smelled like my sisters house and dog and really needed to be washed now) and organize it in the room.
It's finally becoming real!

We ordered our glider today. We got a Shermag from BRU. It will take 14-16 weeks to come in. We were debating between the Shermag and the Dutalier. DH liked the glide of the Shermag better. I must be paranoid or something, because i feel the need to go back and verify that the right wood and fabric combo was ordered. I would hate for it to come in and it be wrong.
Also, the Lands' End Do-It-All and Little Tripper came in yesterday. And, the L.L. Bean Diaper Bag came in today. I still can't believe how quickly the items shipped.

Question: For those of you not sharing your name choice IRL, how do you tactfully tell people that when they ask without sounding like a you-know-what?? Right now we have been telling people that we haven't decided on one, but that will only work for so long! So what do you say??
With Connor, we didn't tell his name. We handled that with "it'll be CJ if it's a boy and AJ if it's a girl" Then when we knew it was a boy (and we did tell the world!), we referred to him as CJ and didn't cave. Of course, that resulted in a bunch of people trying to guess his name. :)
In fact Step-MIL (who, sadly, passed away last year), was the one to guess Connor... and insisted she KNEW that was his name. Then, 7 weeks before Connor was born, Wade's cousin had her third child, a boy, and named HIM Connor. Then, of course, everyone in the M family kept asking us if that was the name we chose too. We played dumb..... but S-MIL was SO convinced that CJ was Connor... it's like she had this crazy intuition, because we did NOT let on at all what his name was...
THIS time around, we're just saying what the name is.... simply b/c we've been saying for a couple of years now that a second boy WOULD be Dawson. But we follow that up with "but we might change our minds..."

getting ready for baby....
Baby is getting the current office, but it's going to take some doing to get the nursery ready. The tentative plan is:
- sell the futon in the office. We already have a queen bed in the basement that guests can use, so we don't absolutely need the futon.
- move the filing cabinet, contents of the closet and the two computer desks down to the basement. That will be squishy, given the basement isn't very big and more than half of it is already a play room for Connor. This will be a temporary measure only, and probably won't happen until closer to baby's birth.
- build a functional 4-season sunroom off the main floor great room. Move "office" into there. We're getting quotes from 3 different sunroom companies in the next week or so, and then we'll have to make some decisions and meet with our bank to see about a home improvement loan. Fact is, long term, we NEED an extra room, and it's probably financially more feasible to add a room rather than move to a bigger house in our beloved neighbourhood.
Once the futon is gone (we listed it for sale this weekend, but if it doesn't sell we will put it in our garage sale in April), we will have wall space to put the crib and the dresser up. That way I can fill up the drawers with Connor's old clothes and take stock of what we need. Until then, it would just be too big of a mess to open up the old storage bins!
So basically right now, I'm just going to focus on de-cluttering the office (and the house in general) as I prepare for our big garage sale in late April. I have MOST of the baby stuff we need, all neatly stored in the storage room, so it'll be easy to set most of the stuff up in the last month or two...

Daycare: DH and I took Friday off and visted daycare providers. The first place, which is right down the street from our house, scared my DH. He said, "The heat register was held on by tape!" It was pretty disappointing. For almost $300 a week you would think the place would at least be clean! The second center we saw was much better. The head teacher was very sweet and has been at the same place for 28 years. Plus, she had a calming British accent. But we are going with the in-home provider that is located just a mile from my work. She is so nice, the house was spotless, the children seemed very happy, and her prices are reasonable. She also invited me to stop by during the days to nurse, which will mean less pumping at the office. I'm so happy to have this settled!
Baby gear: After learning that the Maxi Cosi infant seat is almost $300, we were settled on the Combi. Then we learned yesterday that the Peg Perego has a telescoping handle and is therefore shorter than the Combi when collapsed, which means is will fit into the Mini better. The only thing I'm left trying to figure out now is if the telescoping handle is only available with the 2006 version or if the 2005 also has it.

Hello All :D
Had to show our team spirit again :D
ds If you take a hosp tour they should tell you what they supply. If you don't take it, call them and ask. Yeah for registering too :)
ruby If DH doesn't jump right in then you need to actually start painting. Open the window and paint for 5 minutes. Then go out to where he is sitting and sit down, out of breath. He'll ask what's wrong and tell him you're tired and the paint smell is making you sick. If he still doesn't volunteer, do it again. Keep doing it every 5 minutes until he gets off his butt and helps. Eventually he'll cave :D
I know what you mean about being stressed when things aren't done. I was the same way with Niko. We waited until the last minute to get his changing table and due to 3 mishaps (in the end it was free) we didn't get it until 3 weeks after he was born :/ Brian kept saying change him on the bed, but didn't understand little boys pee in an upward motion and Brian was changing sheets on our bed almost every other day. He knows better know :)
baby lust They really did let me sleep on the table. It wasn't comfortable, but made the hour wait pass by quickly.
jay&erin I'm originally from Brooklyn NY, but FIL's family is from Pittsburg. We're talking fanatical fans too :D FIL is going to print up that pix I posted and hang it in his office and home. He's looking at super-sizing it. Brian is just going to take a 5x7 for work.
Brian had always said if they went to the SuperBowl we'd go there to watch w/his family, but I'm not up for driving 8+ hours in my condition.
connors Your getting ready list sounds like ours.
amurphy Cute belly shot.
Name Update: We're still at a stand still. I'm stuck on Gabe now, but Brian is stuck on Sebastian. Either way, we don't have a middle name yet :/
WE HAVE MADE REMODELING PROGRESS We talked about it yesterday. I now have the go ahead to cash in some stocks to get the $$ to buy the items to finish the basement & redo the bathroom.
So today we went to Home Depot to price everything. As soon as the $$ comes in from the stocks the first thing we'll do is the bathroom upstairs. That won't take but 3 days so it will be quick & easy.
After that, Brian will start on the basement. Our main goal is to at least get the guest room in. Then we're adding a bathroom. Then will come the play room and finally finish off the rest. It will be in steps but it will get done. At least when we get the guest room done we can clear out the office/guest room on the main floor and get that ready to move Niko into it.
I think the thing that made Brian open his eyes is we are only 3 months from my induction date. He's going to be doing this on the weekends so he's realized that he doesn't have a whole lot of time.
I'm just glad that the ball is now rolling.
Other than that, nothing new. Have a great SUPERBOWL everyone.

Hi! I've been lurking along for the past week but haven't posted in awhile so I'll not do shout-outs or QOTD's otherwise I'll be here all day. I'm still amazed at how lopsided our boy/girl lists are. Wonder how many of these surprises will be girls to even out the score? DH took a belly shot (complete with HEAD!) last night so thought I'd post it while I thought of it.
Anyone had food poisoning since getting pregnant? It sucks!! I had it last week after eating out one night...thankfully it only put me out of action for one whole day but I was worried for awhile that it'd keep up for ages and I'd not eat enough.
Anyone else not put any weight on yet? I'm wondering if it's okay or something I should be worried about. I'm eating regularly and not skipping meals and not picking low fat food or anything just eating normally....
Made a couple of baby purchases lately. I won 2 small Fuzzi Bunz pocket nappies on eBay which are simply adorable! And we purchased our reversible car restraint on Saturday at a closing down sale. Safe N Sound seems to be the most safe car seat available in Australia and we talked to a guy who works at a fitting station who recommended we get the Royale for good $$ value and safety so that's what we went with. I like it.
Well, enough rambling here's the latest belly shot:

All the mommas, bellys, and babies are so cute! Nikosmommy, Your little boy is precious in the Steeler outfit!
I can never keep up with this thread because it seems to move so fast or it could be that I've been so darn busy recently. Anyways, here's something I've been thinking a lot about lately:
QOTD: What would you like to get done before your baby arrives?
* finish my dissertation so that I could get that elusive Ph.D.
* transition our toddler into his own bed(please wish us luck on this one!)
* get the toddler room furnished (baby #2 will be in the nursery, which is already completed)
* organize all the baby clothes that DS has outgrown. Baby boy #2 has enough clothes to last him at least until the first 2 years!
* buy a rocking/nursing chair
* get organized so that I can pass off my work to another staff member with relative ease during my maternity leave
There's a lot more I'm sure, some major and some minor but I'm starting to get nervous! I know my life is going to change dramatically with two little ones and I want to be prepared as much as possible. :)

I suppose I'll appreciate it in the long run but I want compliments on the belly now!!!
we barely started our registry this weekend. went to bru saturday afternoon and there was a huge line. . decided not to wait so we added the things we knew we wanted online and will go back during the week sometime. that place is crazy on the weekend.
we have another ultrasound tomorrow just to make sure the heart looks good. I'm not worried at all and think it will be very cool to see the baby again. .

QOTD: What would you like to get done before your baby arrives?
- finish our wedding scrapbook
- put a new roof on the house
- In the baby’s room
--- put up mini-blinds
--- finish painting the trim
--- put up crown molding
--- declutter and organize the closet
- organize the house so I have minimal work after the baby is born
- organize my stuff at work so transition to maternity leave will be easy
- In our room
--- paint the dressers
--- buy, stain and install a headboard
--- get rugs for the floor
- organize the basement
MrsBrownie – great job getting starting on washing and getting stuff done. I haven’t washed any of the clothes I bought. Since we don’t have a dresser in the baby’s room yet, I’ve been storing the stuff in plastic bins under the daybed that is in there.
Hospital bag – I did a practice pack of the baby’s stuff. I’m still debating whether to use the hospital disposables while I’m there or take the cloth diapers. DH says use the cloth right from the beginning. I may use the sposies for the meconium and then switch. Anyhow, I can get everything in the Do-It-All (12 cloth dipes, 4 covers, blanket, clothes) with room to spare. I can fit 8 dipes plus everything else in the LL Bean bag with no room to spare.
Pink – Congrats on getting registered. I have to agree that going on a Saturday is not a great idea. We went to order our glider on Saturday and there was a line at the registry desk.
Sharing the name – I am going to say that we are keeping the names a secret along with the baby’s gender.
Daycare – still haven’t started to look
Great belly pic amurphy and jbenny
Nikosmommy – congrats on getting things going in the basement
Jbenny – registry tips. I agree with pink…don’t go on Saturdays and have a list. Do some online browsing and read reviews so you know what you want. We registered on a Tuesday evening and there was no wait.
Strollers and carseats – I don’t know if you can do this with the Graco Tavel Systems too, but when we were in BRU on Saturday I saw that the combi infant carseat fits two ways in the stroller. You can face the carseat towards you or face it out. I was impressed and most likely would have never tried it if I hadn’t seen it.

Hi everyone!
Just wanted to chime in on jbenny's registering recommendations --
I agree that it is best to avoid Saturdays. We went this past Sunday, and the one prior, after eating a nice big lunch and all went well. In addition to what others posted (all great advice), I'll add:
--wear super comfortable shoes
--If this applies to where you live, leave winter items in the car (I tried wearing -then carrying- my coat the first time around and it was not fun .Had to run out to the car!)
--bring a handbag that can fit paperwork so you have your hands free to try out products, reach for items, etc.
--bring Baby Bargains if you have it. I wound up referencing it a few times, like in the mattress section, and when comparing brands.
--bring a pen and small notepad. It helps to be able to jot down things you want to come back to later, dimensions of items (in our case, cosleeper, gates, etc.).
--you may want to do it in 2-3 trips, especially if you're bringing your DH. Mine has a two-hour limit at BRU and gets burnt out after that. It's probably for the best because I never realize how exhausted I am until we leave! (I'd probably shop until I passed out!)
--bring a water bottle with you. I stashed mine in my big 'ol purse and sipped often to keep my energy up.
--feel free to let a family member or close girlfriend with kiddos look yours over. My SIL caught a few things and made some very helpful suggestions based on her experiences.
Speaking of registering, we should be able to finish it up in less than an hour. We'll head back next weekend. Also we went ahead and signed up for a childbirth prep class/hospital tour, infant CPR course and breastfeeding class.
QOTD re: things to do before baby arrives-
I feel like there's so much to do!
--organize three closets/install closet systems
--fix chair rail in what will be baby's room
--give desk and bookcase away to my cousin, so we have room for baby's furniture
--paint baby's room
I know there's TONS more but I can't even think of it now!
For those who have posted belly shots, you guys look great! :)

Hello All :D
THERE WAS A QUIET PARTY AT THE NIKOSMOMMY HOUSE LAST NIGHT :D Brian was so cute cause he jumped up and I could tell he wanted to yell but didn't cause Niko was already asleep.
Congrats to all the mommies registering. I don't need to do it again, but looking at your lists, you're all set. The only thing I would recommend is trying to get as much done online as possible. I did a ton online first, and then when I got to the store, I was good to go. I went during the week, alone, and was only there about an hour.
I never did get Baby Bargains, but I did subscribe to Consumer Reports and checked these two sites for car seats:
http://www.nhtsa.gov/cps/cssrating/
http://www.carseatdata.org/
I also read all the reviews on the Babies R Us website from other moms. I still do and that helps a ton.
Got more good remodeling news: Being we need something to put into the new guest room, Brian said we could take the headboard & night tables from our room (they don't match the new piece we just got) and put those in the basement and get the set that does match :D I'm so excited to do all this shopping.
We're actually going to IKEA for the bathroom vanity, mirror, etc and then eventually the bedroom stuff :D I LOVE THAT STORE :D

Getting ready for baby-
We are paying off our credit cards and tv. I have already paid off the big one and hopefully w/i 2 months we will have the other one paid too. The tv will probably be paid off right before the baby is born.
We have been working on decluttering, organizing, and getting the rest of the apartment just how we want it. DH found a gorgeous rust color in the oops paint section that perfect for an accent wall in our living room. I just kept looking at it like I can't believe that was an oops paint! He also found a great color for our bedroom. We are tackling one or two key things every weekend.
For the nursery- there is still plenty of things we want to get. I am having my work shower early and seeing what we get and after that I will edit my registry and start buying the larger stuff.
~~~~~~~~~
My weekend- DH did the absolute cutest thing this weekend! He made a fun kid's cd for the baby! He downloaded just a bunch of fun songs like "Crocodile Rock", Mary Poppins, and some sweet ones like "Yellow" by Coldplay. He played it all for me and I thought it was so sweet. He's really getting excited about being a dad!
We played poker this weekend at a coworker's house and I met a girl that was due a day before me... I couldn't believe it she was still in her prematernity clothes! She was tiny.... I felt huge compared to her. Ofcourse, I'm sure the difference is that I was porking out on the sandwiches and pasta and I don't think she ate the entire night.
So I have another question.... Has anyone's pregnancy kicked into overdrive lately? I haven't really felt "pregnant" until this past week or so. Now all of a sudden I am needing naps in the middle of the day, my hip is going out (I think it's my sciatic nerve... I'll talk to the dr. on Wednesday), my belly is definitely preggers and not a beer belly any more, I am gagging from my toothbrush, hormones in overdrive.... just everything kicked in this weekend. I even peed myself a little (very tiny bit but still) on Saturday morning after sneezing! Just weird that all of a sudden I went from feeling fat to pregnant.
So I have a question- Has anyone's pregnancy kicked into overdrive recently?
Just because I want to chime in about registries… ;)
If there's ANYTHING you need a specific recommendation on from someone who has BTDT, there are, IMHO, two specific MUST HAVES:
For swings, you NEED the Ocean Wonders swing. It is the BEST thing since sliced bread, and I'm not kidding! It has several different speeds and swings back and forth as well as side to side (which I remember from somewhere that babies actually prefer to back and forth). It plays soothing (not annoying) music - about 10 songs or so. It also plays ocean sounds - waves, streams, trickling water, etc. - which are very comforting to the baby. It reclines to two or three different positions. It also has a little light show that baby can look up at as well as a mobile that goes around. You can play the music/sounds, lights, swing and mobile independantly or together in almost any combination to suit your baby. And I PROMISE you (with 99.9% accuracy) that you won't be dissappointed with this swing. It's a little pricier than other battery operated swings (takes D cells, but I think we only changed them once -- besides who wants to crank a swing all the time!?), but IMHO, no one should be without this fabulous swing.
When we first had Connor, we had a borrowed crank swing. At three weeks, we tried Connor in it but it didn't work - at 3 weeks and 6 lbs, he was too tiny for the swing and his head/body flopped over even in the most reclining position. Plus we found the swinging action to be too violent for him. So, for 2-3 weeks we didn't have a swing at all….until FIL/SMIL bought us the Ocean Wonders one (to my protests - I didn't think we NEEDED a swing after all that time without one!). We put Connor in it for the first time, and he slept soundly for TWO hours straight (we stopped the rocking after a few min…). It was the most heavenly rest I'd had in about 6 weeks.
Also, for soothing in the crib, the Ocean Wonders crib aquarium is really a must have as well -- soft lights, music and ocean sounds (same music/ocean sounds as the swing, but in a different order IIRC). Comforted Connor in his crib ALL the time. I swear, when Dawson is done with the crib, the aquarium is one thing I will NOT get rid of… I'll keep it for myself for the nostalgia of those gentle songs and sounds. :)
LOL...I don't work for Fisher Price, but maybe they should start paying me… ;)
I 2nd what connorsmommy said about the Ocean Wonders Swing and the Ocean Wonders Aquarium for the crib. We didn't have the full-size swing last time so if you're concerned about room go for the portable one. It worked wonders for us. DS still uses the aquarium every night when he goes to bed.
Maybe FP will hire us both! I recommend their stuff to everyone!
Maybe FP will hire us both! I recommend their stuff to everyone!
They have a smaller version now? cool! :)
For those who balk at the price or don't get it off their registries, check out your craigs lists, local buy & sell papers, etc. for used ocean wonders swings - they came out in 2002 I believe, so there are a lot of families in the position
of not needing it anymore for future kids, so they are getting rid of them now. Lately I've noticed a run on ocean wonders swings in our local buy & sell papers, websites, etc. Good way to get the swing (and other baby gear!) for half price or less!
Ebay is also a good place to buy the swing. I bought ours brand new, in the box for $87 including shipping ($25 for shipping, I think). Check out www.naughtycodes.com for Paypal coupons. I had one for 10% off my purchase which helped a lot.
connors ~ The take-along swing doesn't have as many options and only swings back and forth (no side-to-side), but it's better than many others out there.
we registered for the crib aquarium, but are passing on a swing all together. Thanks for the recs though in case one day we decide we really need one.
Are you registered for convertible car seat now or waiting to buy when you need it? I had planned on registereing now for 2 (1 for each car), but DH wants to wait.
My son loved the Ocean Wonders Swing too, I was so bummed when he outgrew it because it was great to put him in for housework, showering, etc. He never failed to fall asleep in it and it's super comfy. It will be coming down from the attic soon, because it reclines and cradles, you can use it from day one. Another thumbs up!!
I'm kind of in a weird mood today...not so much depressed, but more melancholic than anything. Anyone have that lately? I'm feeling like this baby is a reality now (not that it wasn't before, but I think I'm starting to really grasp that it's on it's way) and I'm starting to doubt myself, wondering if I'm ready for this. Maybe this isn't the place to post this, but I don't know where else.
I'm actually so surprised that I'm starting to worry and doubt myself, as we are VERY organized and I've been ready for kids for a very long time, yet I still find myself wondering. I'm hoping this mood will lift soon, as there is still so much to be done, I can't afford to lose my momentum now.
Stuff to be done before baby
There really isn't much that I want to have done before the baby arrives that isn't baby related:
~ Clean out nursery (spare room) - should be bare by tonight
~ Paint nursery - picked paint this weekend, plan to start taping room this week and DH will begin painting in two weeks
~ Add and paint chair rail/moulding
~ Arrange furniture - has to be delivered first
~ Get closet organizer
~ Wash and organize clothing, blankets, supplies - started this weekend, need somewhere to put everything
The only other thing that we would like to get done is to paint our front foyer, stairwell and upstairs hallway. The paint has been purchased, we just have to get it done.
We also need to put up a fence but it won't be done by the time the baby is here.
What's Done ~ I feel like I got a ton accomplished this weekend. DH and I got most of the basement organized. We have two huge bags for Charity and threw out at least 3 huge garbage bags.
I got all the baby blankets, receiving blankets, hooded towels and wash cloths all washed and packed in a bin for storage. I have two loads of clothes to wash tonight and pack away. I also got all the fabrics washed for the bouncer, rocker, car seat and any other fabric toys washed. So that's done and unpacked (had three boxes to go through.)
I also got most of the spare room/nursery-to-be decluttered and emptied. DH is going to help tonight move the furniture to the basement and then I can start taping the baseboards and wall strip in the room.
DH is a little baffled at why I'm pushing to get it done now (we have tons of time in his mind) but I really want it done, to be able to get things organized. Plus, if the painting is done we don't have to worry about when the furniture gets delivered or getting the closet organizer in, etc. So I'm really pushing him, but luckily he's being pretty accomodating right now.
He asked last night what I wanted for Valentine's day and I told him NO FLOWERS (he always buys me roses for special occassions) and that I would prefer that he buy me all the paint for the nursery. Luckily they end up being about the same cost and although he doesn't think it's 'Romantic' enough, it's exactly what would make me happy...so that's done!
Shopping, shopping and more shopping ~ I really have to stop buying stuff and my biggest problem...EBAY. I cannot look on that site any longer, it's getting to be too much, even for me. This weekend alone I bought a change pad cover (PBK Chamois in Yellow) a 2 Diaper Bags for DH (didn't think I would win the second, but I did) and a Boppy with Luxe cover. Unfortunately, most of these are things I can't buy up here new and I really wanted them...but it's getting to be too much. So no more shopping for me...just someone try to hold me to it.
Hospital Tour and Prenatal Classes ~ We booked our hospital tour for next Wednesday. Our M/W group leads a tour each month and we both figured better to do it now rather than later. I also called about Prenatal classes and thank goodness I did. The classes starting in February are all booked and we ended up going with a Tuesday night class that starts March 7th and goes to the middle of April. I think it's cutting it a little close (May is a write off for me at work) but it's the earliest I could do. The weekend classes weren't available until the end of April, beginning of May...so those are out.
Well, that's about it for me. I did take new belly shots, but am a little embarassed to post them...mine are definitely not cute belly shots (especially with my new set of stretch marks showing.) But maybe I will work the courage up in the next couple of days.
Another QOTD ~ Have any of you thought about what you are going to do with your wedding rings? What happens if your fingers swell and you can't wear them any longer, are you going to replace them or go without?
Anyways, have a great day everyone and thanks for reading my super long post. Makes me feel better just getting it out!
Convertible Car Seat ~ We registered for it now, but who knows if we get it. I figured it couldn't hurt to put it on there and see. If I have a shower (not sure about that one) MIL has some friends who will probably go in together on a gift and that's priced about right for them. I won't be upset if we don't get it though, as we can always buy it later. My sister didn't put my nephew into his convertible until he was almost 9 months, so no hurry.
Ocean Wonder ~ We registered for the Crib Aquarium, but not the swing. A friend of mine mentioned that she though the Crib Aquarium was so loud and obnoxious that she returned it, but I've only heard good things about it. Is it really that loud? I don't want a regular mobile either, I'd prefer having something in the crib instead.
I keep looking at the swings though, but can't justify buying it yet. We got the Rocking/Vibrating chair from my sister that my nephew lived in. It's compact and so easy to move around the house, that I'm hoping we won't need a swing. But if I think we need the swing, I won't hesitate to go and buy the ocean wonders swing.
Pregancy in O/D ~ I think mine has progressed pretty gradual. I've noticed that in the last week I've gotten much bigger, to the point where I'm uncomfortable when watching TV (I know, get used to it, but it kind of caught me off guard.) I notice that climbing the stairs has me out of breath, which was hard with doing so much cleaning and laundry this weekend. DH has also started commenting on how big I've gotten, so I know it's defintely showing now.
And I'm definitely uncomfortable when sleeping lately. I know it's bad, but I find I can only get comfortable when lying on my back with my legs twisted to the side. I keep waking to find myself on my back...not good, but nothing seems to be keeping me off it.
My hormones, moods, etc have been pretty steady lately and I haven't had any crying or screaming episodes yet. I've had a real feeling of wanting or having to get things done NOW...possibly nesting, not sure, but it's making me productive that for sure.
Things to do before baby arrives
~ sign Andrew up for the siblings class at the hospital
~ sign up to take the tour of the hospital
~ Move ds out of his room into the office room
~ Move office stuff/desk into the formal dining room we do not use - well It has all my scrapbooking stuff in it but it is a mess/ unorganized. it also has bassinet, swing, baby clothes in it.
~ decide on bedding for this baby girl
~ buy paint - paint room or get MIL to do it for us
~ decide on using a chair rail or not
~ buy Baby bed (have found a few ... but still have not made the decision on which to get)
~ set up baby girls room & organize closet & make a list of all needed items
~ register at Target & Babies R Us
~ pack hospital bag
That is all I can think of right now ... I am sure I will need to add more soon.
I have had a blah day also ... I put on an outfit & it is not a maturnity outfit but one that was "kinda big" well it is not big anymore - I wore it anyway just cause we were majorly running late this morning. Needless to say I have worn my jacket over my too tight shirt all day. UGGGG I need to go buy me some more prego clothes. I feel like such a fat cow today :(
QOTD: What would you like to get done before your baby arrives?
Ugh, this question totally depresses me. There's so much and DH isn't in as big a hurry to get things done as I am so it's causing conflict :( . Anybody elses DH not being great about helping right now? He's really upsetting me.
I think I had Braxton Hicks last night after I was running around cleaning and mopping, etc. It felt so weird.
I'm going to go change my swing to that Ocean Wonders now. I don't really like the one I registered for.
MrsBrownie ~ I don't think the Ocean Wonders Aquarium is loud at all. There are several different volume settings on it. We use the lowest volume when DS is going to bed and it's fine.
Anyone have experience with the Fisher Price Papasan swing? It seems to have many of the same features as the Ocean Wonders swing, but a different look. (That's the one we picked). We did go with the FP Ocean Wonders portable swing though, which I hear is a gem when you need to take a shower and need five minutes to yourself!
For the in-crib soother, we picked a new one by FP -the Flutterbye Dreams with the little birdies. Again, seems like a similar concept to the Ocean Wonders, but a different look. Anyone heard anything good or bad about this one?
Ocean wonders swing: Hehehe... Convert #1 down... how many more to go? ;)
Regarding getting DH on board with doing things now.... I ran into the same problem with Wade last time. Back then, we had a roommate in the basement and baby's room was our spare room with a queen bed in it. We had no other place for the queen bed and would have to store it until the basement became ours again (not until Connor turned two), so he wasn't in a hurry to lose our main guest bed other than the futon in the office.
This time, he's more gung ho about getting things ready because Connor really surprised us by coming early and he now KNOWS how time will fly by in the last few months. So, this weekend when I presented to him the plan to clear out the office in the coming couple of months, he did not offer any resistance. In fact, he was pretty thrilled with the timeline I gave him.
ANyway, I don't have any advice...just wanted to say I know the frustration you're feeling...
ffanel ~ I've heard rave reviews on the Papasan swing. It is similar to the Aquarium swing - just a little less colorful. I haven't heard anything about the Flutterbye Dreams crib soother, but I've seen it and it looks like it's just as good as the Aquarium.
I was sold on it until she told me she returned hers...but I've since added it to our registry.
I definitely like the online feature, as I just added and removed a whole bunch of things.
After this weekend, i realized we already have 12 Receiving blankets (that I counted) and I'm sure I have a couple more stored away somewhere. We also have 8 baby blankets (most are new) so I took a couple off the registry too.
I also added some more toys (Baby Einstein Blocks, Lamaze Knot Ball, etc.) for a little better mix. And someone asked awhile ago, but I have a total of 34 items on my registry after getting rid of a couple.
Mrs Brownie – great idea about Valentine’s, I just put in my “no flowers” request to DH.
QOTD - Wedding Rings – I’m going to hope that they keep fitting. I do have a plain band that I bought a few years back. I may wear that. I don’t like to go without a ring.
QOTD – pregnancy overdrive – I’ve been feeling pregnant for a few weeks. I definitely have a belly and people are noticing. Feeling the baby move is still sporadic and based on one of the books or websites I’m reading the baby is supposed to be settling into a wake and sleep pattern.
Lil_Mrs – All of the accent walls in our house are from the Oops paint section (Living room accent wall, the entire kitchen, 2 of 4 walls in our bedroom). At $5 a gallon I can’t complain.
We have registered for a mobile and the aquarium thing. I didn’t think about using the aquarium thing in place of the mobile. I need to think about that.
Mrs Brownie – I know all docs have different philosophies. My doc told me that laying and sleeping on my back was fine as long as it doesn’t bother me. He said that some women will get dizzy or lose circulation in the lower extremities. He said that as long as I feel fine, it is okay. I like to relax on my back however I can not sleep on my back. It has to be a half stomach half side thing.
Additional things for my to do list –
- find a daycare
- sign up for breastfeeding, infant care and infant CPR classes
Ffanel – my friends who have the Papasan swing LOVE IT.
With all this swing talk I’m thinking about getting a portable one. I will talk to DH who will hopefully talk me out of it. If I have one I may use it for a first resort to soothing my child when I want to be the first resort. My thought is that slinging my child will keep me from swinging my child.
Registry items – Right now I think we have 41 items. It may be 38 items if I convince myself to buy the remaining Vintage Fire Truck items.
Hello again :)
MrsBrownie Before Niko was born I too had so many mixed emotions. I went through the range including doubt. It's all normal. I doubted everything, including what I couldn't change in the world. I was a mess. In the end, it all comes together. It's true, we women have a natural gift for being mothers. My new one now is how am I going to handle two? But as one, and as so many others have done it, I will too.
wedding ring With Niko my fingers were swollen in the end - he came at the end of August. I just didn't wear anything. It was more comfortable. I had tried, but at the end of the day, my fingers were too swollen to get anything off. I did eventually put my rings on a chain around my neck. We'll see what happens with this one.
~~~~~~~~~
2 Quick Things:
The baby has had the hiccups almost every day now. I forgot what they feel like but they are back. They usually come when I try to go to sleep.
Did anyone see the Budweiser commercial with the colt last night?
There is a colt that goes into a barn where the Bud "truck" that the Clydesdale's pull and there is a rein in front of it. Well the colt sticks his head through the rein and leans forward. It doesn't move at first, but then you see the wheels start to roll. He pulls it out of the barn and that's when you see two Clydesdale's behind the "truck" pushing it.
OMG, I started balling when I saw that. It was so cute and really touched my heart. Brian just started laughing at me but I still balled.
If I find the link for it, I'll post it.

i finally get a chance to post....what a day (dull and dreary and busy too!)
pregnancy in O/D i dunno....somedays i feel miserable and some days i feel great. i am definitely more tired nowadays and its annoys me to no end cos i'm not someone who can sit still. i also get out of breath more easily. as far as being big...i dunno. i feel huge but yday DH commented that my belly looks smaller than it did on saturday :confused: sometimes i have NO appetite at all and other times i just want to eat....my only craving though is ICE - i cant get enough of it :D
QOTD - Wedding ring we just had our 2yr anniversary 2wks ago and DH got me a new band. its wider than my wedding band and its also looser so i think i can wear it til the end ( i hope i wont swell that much)
QOTD: What would you like to get done before your baby arrives?
alot actually!!! but here's some bigger things i need done:
- get our bedroom furniture (we've been putting this off for a while and now i want it!
- finish our master bathroom (light fitting & decor)
- get a new computer desk (smaller one)
- combine our guest room and office into one
- paint baby's room
- clean and organize our garage (thankfully not much to do)
- finish my engagement, wedding scrapbks and our house scrapbk too
- find a babysitter
we still have to register and get our baby furniture and stuff. i havent ordered anything yet cos everyone says we need to wait on showers but i dont want to do that and wait til the end and what we dont have what we need.
classes we just signed up for our childbirth classes today. they're 4wks long and 2.5hrs each and we start them in march. i forget what all it covers but i know lamaze and breastfeeding are incl.

Man, this thread moves FAST! There's so much to talk about now that we're all busy planning/registering. :)
We had our Level II u/s this morning, and I am SO relieved now. I'm exhausted since we left at 6:30am to get there, but everyone was very nice, and the Dr. said everything looks great! She kept using the word "beautiful" when she was looking at the u/s pics the tech had taken. Then she did her own looking a little bit and said she didn't see a need to see us again. She didn't know what size the cyst was originally, but she said it's so tiny now that it's probably going away. Oh, and she took a look for us and said we're definitely having a girl! ;) We walked out of the office (with some beautiful pictures!), and I felt like a weight had been lifted off of me. I don't think even I realized how much I was holding my breath until today. I'm back to letting myself be 100% excited! :D
We registered for the Ocean Wonders swing and the crib aquarium, so you can add me to the list. Those are definitely both things we'll buy ourselves if we don't receive them as gifts. They're both so cool!
NikosMommy -- I LOVED that Budweiser commercial!! I was trying so hard to keep myself together when it was on last night. There were a lot of funny commercials, but that one was different, and it was by far my favorite. I was so excited to see your post about it!
I'll try to catch up more later. I took a nap after we got home, but my whole body is exhausted. DH says it's my "hangover" from the last couple of weeks of worrying. Whatever it is, it's a good excuse for vegging tonight.

Shaq ~ Just saw your comment about what you are craving and wanted to warn you about that...not to worry you, but I have several friends who have experienced this lately and none are pregnant, but they have all been diagnosed with low iron reserves.
I don't know if it's something to worry about while PG, but you may want to talk to your doctor. I have read that while PG your iron reserves get depleted and it's worth asking if you should be on a supplement.
Just thought I would mention it, in case you didn't know, but craving ice is a definite symptom of low iron.
One friend at work was craving ice so much that she was going to the cafeteria at least three or four times a day to get big glassed of it. Not only is it really bad for your teeth, but the habit is so annoying when you are trying to concentrate on something else (DH crunches his ice while watching TV, drives me NUTS!)
Anyways, just wanted to mention it...just in case!
Lady ~ Wonderful news about your baby Girl and the cyst...glad it isn't anything to worry about and you are back to being 100% positive. It's amazing all the worry these children put us through before they are even born...I can't imagine how much worse it will be when they are here!
Sarah ~ Great picture, you definitely have a *GLOW* about you. Everyone keeps saying that about me (but only when I'm dressed nicely with my makeup done) but I don't see it personally. But it still makes me feel good to hear it...and, just so you don't feel alone, I am definitely not a *skinny* girl. I posted a skin shot earlier, but I don't think it's going to happen again. But you look great!
Commercial ~ Unfortunately, being up here in Canada, we don't get the same commercials for Superbowl that everyone else gets, so I missed it. But just from the description, I could see myself bawling about it. And those On-Star commercials, those are the ones that get me everytime...and I probably hear them about 3 times a week.

Great pics everyone!
PG overdrive Not for me. I've been progressing bit by bit all along.
RegisteringThanks for tips. It's been so long since I registered for our wedding that I don't even really remember doing it. I did a wishlist on BRU.com that I printed out to take with me, along with my Baby Bargains book. I pretty much have all of the larger items picked out, except those that require a fabric choice, since I'm still waiting for my u/s. But I know which brand and model, just not the fabric. I don't work on Fridays, so I'll go on a Friday morning probably.
Ocean Wonders I was planning on getting the crib thing, but was planning on going with Baby Bargains' recommendation of a Graco swing. After all of the glowing reviews, though, I will definitely check out the OW Swing.
P.S. Big u/s is tommorrow, finally!!!

Pg Overdrive: I've definately been more emotional lately. This weekend was hard. On Friday at work I was writing the date and realized that Saturday was my due date from my most recent miscarriage. As happy as I am to have this baby growing inside me, there is still a saddness over the ones I've lost. It's hard to believe that if my 2nd pregnancy went to term I'd have a 7 month old right now, and if my 3 rd pregnancy went to term I'd either be miserably pregnant or be holding my newborn.
Ocean Wonders: Mia still loves the aquarium. I'm not sure who asked about the volume, but it's adjustable. You can set it pretty quiet, until they realize how to adjust it themselves. If Mia doesn't feel like sleeping, you can listen to her turn the volume up and down on the monitor, as well as change the settings. Now I'm not so sure how Mia's going to live without it when she moves into her big bed. I think we may need to rig it somehow that she can still have it in her room and buy this baby one too.
Convertable car seats: Can't remember who asked, but we registered for them last time around. We also needed two (or we'd be taking the car seat in and out of cars almost every day). Some babies have also outgrown their infant seats by 4-5 months too. You may need them sooner than you think.
Wedding Ring: I had to take mine off in the last month. DH threatened me that if they had to be cut off, I wasn't getting new ones. I wore them around my neck instead. I hated being without them since I don't even take them off to sleep, and may consider getting a cheap gold band for the end of this pregnancy.
To Do list: UGH! There's so much
-Do Mia's big girl room (we just insulated it, so there's a long way to go)
-Transition Mia to a bed
-Finish 2 other closets in the house so we have room for more storage
-Paint the playroom- We insulated some of that room too, and now have the walls patched all over the place
-Start classes for my doctorate. How I'm going to handle classes, a toddler, work and a newborn is beyond me.
-Spend some time with just Mia- not running around trying to do everything under the sun. She'll only be an only child for a few more months. I'm not sure why that makes me a little sad for her.
-Organize work so my fill in isn't completely lost
Some of you girls are so skinny still! My boss looked at me today and commented on how big my belly is getting. I told him that when my belly was bigger than his, then he could talk (luckily we can joke that way).
We had a Superbowl party last night. YEA STEELERS!!!! Unfortunately my ILs (BIL, SIL, MIL and FIL) were out the door before the trophy was even handed out. DH was p!ssed, as was I. Luckily my parents stuck around to help clean up.

We have a ton of stuff to do before the baby comes as well! We can't paint the nursery yet, as that is where we have our 2 week old puppies living. On ce we wean them in another 3-4 weeks, we are going to paint and put the crib together. We still need to register, get the dresser, pick out bedding, gosh we really haven't done anything yet!!! All you girls that are remodeling and having to move rooms, I don't envy you! We at least just moved in this house in October, so we have a room waiting to be made into a nursery!
Tomorrow is my u/s, I still don't feel the baby move much, so hopefully everything will be OK- I must admit I'm still a little worried that I'm not feeling the baby at over 21 weeks. We won't start our child birth classes for another 6 weeks I think- sometime in March.
Good luck to everyone in getting their nurserys done!!

MrsBrownie yep! i know about this!!! i was put on iron meds when i was 9wks after my bloodwork came back. my iron was extremely low so i took the meds for a mth, but they made me so sick and i couldnt eat. i would literally have to force myself to eat and then i'd get sick:( so my doc took me off them for awhile (still off it - thank God cos the smell even puts me off) he wants me to be able to eat. but i know i am going to have to go back on them soon enough cos he did tell me that i will need to catch up on my iron levels once my appetite came back. if my iron continues to deplete then i will need a blood transfusion :eek: so as much as that med makes me sick i will take it to avoid the tranfusion.
i know the ice is so bad for my teeth but i just cant help it....it feels SO good in my mouth!!! i need to get to zaxby's or sonic cos they have the soft ice - yea my craving is THAT bad :rolleyes:

DS, The Graco SnugRide infant seats fit into Graco strollers the same way. Either facing you or away. Great feature! BTW, love the name! Very cute!!
On our BRU registry, we have 93 items!! :eek: I guess it is kind of a waste though because we don't have a BRU around here so there won't be much taken off that registry. :rolleyes: Of course, a lot of it is random stuff, so if we don't get everything, it won't be a big deal. Target has 60 items and WalMart has 50 items. I have been adding and removing items as we go along so who knows what each will end up with!
DH and I are going to Minneapolis to buy our crib this weekend. Super excited about that!!
Speaking of DH, he has been dragging his feet on getting the soon-to-be nursery cleaned out for me. I don't think he realizes how much work it is going to be getting it set up and organized, so he thinks he has plenty of time! How do you rationalize with that without sounding like a crazed preggo?? :rolleyes:
Hope everyone has a great week!

We transitioned Connor to his big boy bed at 17 months (he was a real climber early on...eek!) and for a couple of months, we propped the OW aquarium up against the wall (we started out with the one side propped up against the wall anyway). It was a helpful transition object for him and he loved having his old crib-mate for a while. After a few weeks, we took it away and he never asked for it when it was gone. But *I* sure missed it. :) Oh the nostalgia! :)

3 hours to go until my big u/s!
My DH actually told me that as soon as we know the sex of the baby, I need to pick colors for the nursery cause he wants to get started on painting. I'm surprised because normally, he's like the other DH's mentioned in here, that think they have forever to get this stuff done. Men just don't get our need to have things finished and ready.
Before the baby, I need to:
1) Pick colors and bedding for the nursery
2) Order nursery furniture (it's already picked out)
3) Register at BRU
4) Paint nursery (DH)
5) Decide on, purchase, hang wall decor and window treatments
6) PICK A NAME ALREADY!!

QOTD-Wedding rings : I'm 90% sure that I'm going to have to take my wedding rings off before the end of this pregnancy. My DH designed a "pregnancy" ring for me for Christmas (9 stones--8 diamonds and the June birthstone in the middle) that is a size and a half bigger than my wedding rings. I'm currently wearing it on my middle finger of my right hand but will use that in place of my wedding rings when the time comes.
QOTD–Pregnancy overdrive: I feel like my belly has grown substantially in the last week--even since I took my last belly pictures on Saturday. I've also been really tired lately. But other than those two symptoms, my pregnancy seems to be progressing at a steady rate.
To do list: We cleaned out the two dressers and the closet in the baby's room last weekend. We still have to
1. Pull carpet up and decide whether to whitewash hardwood or get new/lighter carpet
2. Scrap the popcorn ceiling and repaint
3. Get crib from Mom and buy bedding
4. Buy closet organizer
5. Find out what baby gear we are "inheriting" from brother & SIL and register for the rest
I guess that's not too much work. We have other projects around the house that I'd like to finish up. The bulk of the work is already done but its the finishing details we have to finally get around to doing.
Good luck with the u/s today, Jbenny!
Glad everything went well with your u/s, lady
Great name, DS!

SarahNCraig: You look great! - I love that shirt - did you get it at Motherhood maturnity?
ladylj: Wooohoooo - That is some awesome news girl. When reading it I got tears in my eyes. It is good to see that they lifted that weight off your shoulders.
ds2003: Noah Alexander ... is a great boys name :)
wedding rings: sometimes mine get tight now ... I hate to see what they will be like at 8 or 9 months ... If they get too tight I might wear my band on a necklace around my neck (put my solitaire away) or might just put both away

Hello All :D
I FOUND THE BUD COMMERCIAL... If you go to the Budweiser website they have a link to all the SuperBowl commercials. You want to watch: Clydesdale American Dream.
THANK YOU to the mommies who also admitted that the commercial touched them too. Brian said last night that his coworkers were laughing at me. Kinda pi&&ed me off cause I don't know them and the hormones.
I just watched it again and cried :rolleyes:
Registering Tip: Save all the boxes. If you don't like something, you can always take it back even without a receipt. I did it a lot with Niko. They just give you a store credit.
ds I never mentioned Noah but that name has been on my mind. I just emailed Brian about Noah and Nathan. A few weeks ago I wasn't too sure about Nathan but now it's been "growing" on me.
jcharley & jbenny Come back and tell us what the count is ASAP :D Don't keep us waiting too long.

I think it is cool that the infant seat can face out, I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone use it that way.
Baby Lust – I’ve been debating getting a Target registry. There is no BRU near most of my family, but there is a Toys R Us and I know you can access the registry there.
Jbenny – looking forward to reading the u/s results. Your DH sounds ready to get moving. We probably won’t make anymore progress until this weekend. Weekdays are to hard since I’m ready to relax when I get home.
Names – thanks…I really love the name. I already have an idea for the name over the crib. DH is going to cut the letters for me.
Nikosmommy – I’ll try to view the commercial when I get home. Thanks for the reminder to keep the boxes. Nathan was on my list for a short while until I remembered I knew a guy with that name that I wasn’t fond of…so it didn’t stay on our list long. Other than that I like the name.

Thanks for the feedback on the items we registered Kaeden's Mommy. My sister-in-law just told me last night that she heard great things about the new Flutterbye soother. Apparently it projects up onto the ceiling so baby can look up and be entertained without having to turn their head.
Sarah You look fantastic!
jbenny Can't wait to hear the results of the U/S when you get back!
DS Noah is an adorable name. Love it!

I'll do another round of Kegels Reminder!!!
Things to do:
Seems like there are too many, but here's what I'm thinking of:
- Finish our taxes so we can determine if we are buying a new car
- Pray that DH's uncle gets his new appartment soon so we can get rid of all the extra furniture cluttering our other rooms
- Finish the baby quilts that I started
- Finalize the nursery decor (I am having a hard time getting the right inspiration)
- Determine if we want to paint the nursery
- Finish our BRU registry (still no car seat picked out)
- Print and hang our wedding pictures
- Find an Infant First Aid/CPR class and register
- Sell my wedding dress on ebay
Our BRU registry currently has 29 items. Our Target registry has 11 items.
We have the FP ocean wonder aquarium on the registry since the beginning. We are not planning on getting a swing, we're going for the bouncer seat instead. I've added the Symphony in Motion Mobile based on reviews I've seen recently.

I went for my appt today: I fully expected the doc to tell me everything was normal. My blood work was fine for the quad screen. However, the ultrasound showed that the cord only has 2 vessels instead of three and one of the kidneys is dialated. The doc was pretty vague on what everything means at this point. She said the cord abnormality could point to other chromosomal abnormalities, but since my blood results were normal, they weren't concerned. When reviewing the kidney stuff, she said questioningly "you're having a boy?" I told her we didn't find out, so I'm not sure if this abnormality is more common in boys, or if she was just commenting on the sex of the baby, not realizing we didn't find out. Of course, now I really want to know what this baby is because of that comment. I have another ultrasound in a month and a follow up with the nurse practicioner (sp) a week later. Hopefully she'll be able to give me more info then. I'm trying not to worry, but it's going to be hard. Now that the appt is over, I have so many questions. I'll do an internet search and see what comes up- hopefully nothing.
Well, Mia is sitting very impatiently on my lap while I type waiting to play. BBL to do some SOs.

No time for more SO's now. I'm busy *trying* to work. :D

JBenny ~ Good luck with your U/S...come back for an update soon.
Nikos ~ Yup...made me cry. I'm sitting at work watching it with tears running down my face. Not a good look, but thanks for letting me see it. And I would be upset too about DH's co-worker, but I'm sure they've heard all my storied by now, so not too worried about it. I can only imagine what DH has been telling them lately.
DS ~ I love the name Noah...it's on my short list. You are so lucky that DH just out of the blue said OK...mine is going to make it as tough on me as possible. He's set on one name and won't even consider others, but at least we're having a boy, we weren't even close to agreeing on a girl name.
Wedding Rings ~ Intersesting to read what everyone else is planning. I am almost positive mine are going to have to come off in the next month or two (especially if the weather warms up soon.) DH is fine with me not wearing anything, but I'm not. He's given me the go-ahead to call the guy who designed all our rings and get a larger plain band made up, but I'm not sure I want to do that. I just think that going without a ring is going to be weird...especially after he said to me the other night 'So you mean when you see a pregnant woman without a wedding ring on, it doesn't necessarily mean she's not married!' I couldn't believe he would say that, but still made me think I don't really want to be without mine on.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Well, finally, after a month and a half, my baby bedding has FINALLY been delivered. I have to wait until tonight (or tomorrow) to see it, but it's finally cleared customs and is in the city. Thank goodness, as I was starting to get frustrated and lose the faith.
This means that we can finally pick paint colours (or hope that the colours we picked match okay) and start the process.
DH decided last night in bed (while rubbing my belly, which felt so nice) that he was going to paint the hallway and foyer this weekend and do the Nursery next weekend. It means moving to my parents for the weekends, as he doesn't want my help or for me to be in the house, but I will sacrifice to get it all done!
I'm feeling better today, don't know why or how, but I'm feeling as though we will be fine and my worries are gone (for today at least.) I'm also noticing some weird cramps and sore back today...wondering if it might be Braxton Hicks, but still not sure. How can I be feeling BH but not the baby...it's my body I tell you, it's totally against me.
Anyways, DH are off tonight to watch a Hockey Game (yipee...my boss surprised us with Platinum Seats.) I definitely love Hockey when I'm there in person, and I know it will make DH's week by being there. Although he did ask who he got to take...hmmm, wondering if I maybe wasn't his first choice.
Jay&Erinn ~ Just wanted to tell you that you are in my thoughts. A woman on another board I frequent also found out that her baby's cord only had 2 vesserls. So far everything has worked out fine for her, although she's had a bit of extra monitoring. She's nearing her 34 week and looks as though everything is normal for her. Hopefully it will all work our for you and we will say some extra prayers for you.
Wedding rings ~ Mine still fit and I actually have more room than I did when I got pg since I've lost weight. With DS I couldn't wear them anymore by 16 weeks. I'm hoping to be able to wear them throughout this time. It would be nice to look like I'm a married woman while I'm pg. I caught a lot of funny looks last time. Old ladies... :rolleyes:
jay&erinn - I'm thinking about you and hoping and praying that everything is okay.
wedding rings - I never take my rings off (unless I'm cleaning raw meat). Maybe I should start now so that I'll know for sure when it is getting too tight to get off and on.
Baby name on wall - For those who are doing this or have done this, are you buying them or making them? If you are buying, where are you getting them? I plan to have DH cut them, but I need a backup plan.
So much to catch on.... I feel like I missed a week of posts!
DS- I love the name Noah Alexander. I'm so glad that you have a name picked out.
Erin- You are in my thoughts. We will all be sending those sticky healthy baby vibes your way. They seem to have been working so far. Just try to stay positive, although I know it's hard. PM me if you need to talk at all.
Sarah- Adorable belly pic. I've been so bad. I have two sitting in my digital camera and I have just been too lazy to put it on shutterfly to post.
Shaqangel- Maybe you could start reading the labels of what you and making sure they have the extra iron until you are supplements. I've been making sure that the cereal I eat has extra fiber and iron in them since I know I eat it every morning. Just a thought.
Izzy- Thanks for Kegel reminder. I have been so bad lately!
Wedding rings- I hope that I can keep mine on but I have a gold chain that I love from Thailand that I can wear it on if neccessary.
Ocean Wonders- Thanks for the tips ladies. I edited my list to add those in. I hadn't registered for a swing yet anyways.
~~~~
Nothing new to report here. Just going back and forth between here and my online registries. I really need to hit the stores one of these days. There's a couple of things that I saw at BRU that I can't find online. Maybe this week at lunch.

jbenny - good luck with your u/s! Let us know how things go...
Niko's Mommy - alright. I had to go check out the commercial. Too sweet! I don't know was more affected, the animal lover in me, or the mom-to-be!
jay&erinn - I hope that things are fine for your baby. I'm thinking of you. I've never heard of that before, but hopefully since your bloodwork is normal, that everything else will be too.
DS - Noah Alexander...it's a great name! It must feel good to have that decision made.
Sarah - Great belly pic. And a good reminder that I need to post one!
Izzy - Ah yes. Kegels. Thank you.
Wedding rings - I'm hoping I can keep wearing mine for a while. Maybe not my wedding band, but at the very least my engagement ring (which was a little too big, so we got balls put in the band instead of having the band cut). If not, I may just purchase a rinky-dink ring as a temp.
Things to do before the baby comes
Ha! This list is too long to post. We've done hardly anything but bought the bedding and painted the room. My DH actually wanted to paint the first weekend we owned our home, so that was really helpful and sweet. He was also the one to drag me to BRU this weekend to do some more registering and try to pick out a crib, dresser and glider. No luck. We liked this one crib, but it has some pointed corners - anyone have some advice about this? I always thought it should be rounded corners, but am I crazy?
So I feel like we're running out of town and will end up just picking something out we're not crazy about just to have something.
We have our big u/s tomorrrow and I'm sooooo excited!! Our little nugget has been moving around quite a bit lately, and DH even got to feel it last night, which was an exciting thing to share. We're allowed to bring a videotape to the u/s, so I'm hoping he'll cooperate.
And, I'm about to swallow my pride here, as I post some belly shots!

How many chances does the Pink Team have left to catch up (other than surprise babies, or course)?
Congrats on your boy Jbenny!! Everyone must share their boy names because I am at a loss. Any suggestions? I like Scottish, Irish or English names that aren't too popular.
Remodeling-DH made a deal with me since I have been so miserable about "the lost bedroom". We booked a condo for a week in the mountains next month and he said he would come for 1/2 the week and then return home to gut and dry wall Colton's soon-to-be new room. I get to stay on with Colton and will invite my Mom and Aunt to come for the remainder of the week. Sounds like a great plan to me and Colton will have a blast swimming in the pool, sledding, hanging with Mom. I definitely feel a little more relaxed now. Too bad it's 5 weeks away, but at least he has a plan!!

Ruby ~ For Irish boy names (we're going with an Irish girl name so I've done some research :)): Sean, Liam, Cayden (many spellings - Kaeden, etc.), Patrick, Kieran, Keegan. I'll see if I can find more.

jayanderin I hope everything will be ok. I saw your other posts and they are very encouraging. So try not to give in to the worrying too much if you can.
Nice to hear that the men are finally coming around! Mine is too, though we don't have anything big to do. But it's nice to feel like they are understanding.
I can't keep up with all of the congrats and SO. But I was wondering...
QOTD (I don't think I've seen one today)
Anyone else already scheduled their first GTT (glucose tolerance test)?
Mine is scheduled to be at my 24 weeks appointment. The indepedent nurse that tracks my pregnancy thinks it's a tad too early and suggests waiting longer, unless my doc has some concern (exactly the words to make me start worrying!). Everything else I've seen online said it's typically done between 24-28 weeks.
ring I have no problem not wearing my ring if it doesn't fit. My fingers don't swell easily normally, so I'm guessing it should be fine. I really have no clue. We'll see. Worst case scenario, I had bought a backup band on bluenile.com (inexpensive white gold, I think ~$50) for those days where I am afraid to lose or damage my nice rings. I could buy another one a size bigger, though I doubt I will.

we are going with Dawson Kyle M******
which I think will nicely compliment Connor Juston M******
Funny you should mention about scottish/irish names -- our last name is a VERY standard Irish last name, yet I didn't realize until a few months ago just how Irish Connor M****** sounds. :)
Kicker is, Irish is almost the smallest portion of our ancestry.

Anyone else already scheduled their first GTT (glucose tolerance test)?
I thought it only happens at 28-29 weeks, myself, until a few days ago when a LJ friend mentioned her Dr. sending her for hers SOON (and she's only 8 or 9 weeks along) because she's in a high risk category because of too many factors -- advanced maternal age, latino, overweight, etc.
As for me, I don't have to schedule it. All I need is the lab requisition form and then I just have to show up in my 28th week at any Calgary Lab Services 10 or 15 locations (bonus: there's one in my office building so I won't have to go out of my way to get to it). I can just fit it into my schedule that week however I want.

congratulations on your boy jbenny!!!
jay&erinn- thinking of you and your baby but it sounds like everything is going to be okay. I know it doesn't make the worrying any easier. I hope the next 4 weeks fly by for you.
Izzy- my GTT is scheduled for 28 weeks. my doctor wanted it between 26 and 28 weeks. I know several people that have already done theirs though. seems to be doctors preference.
things to do before DD arrives- finish paying off credit card debt, paint the laundry room, stairwell and our bedroom (thankfully the nursery is already done!) start taking classes for my MBA, celebrate DH's graduation from law school. . . I feel like the list is endless and that's all I can think of right now.
names- not even a clue. right now the leaders are: Mackenzie, Allyson and Riley. but how common are those. I don't want my kid to be another Heather of my generation. dime a dozen. names are hard. sigh.
baby gear- we have the changing table/dresser and the crib on order from Baby Dream and the bedding picked out from PBK. only the bumber, crib skirt and quilt though, sheets will come from BRU or Target. I have just started my registry at BRU and already have the OW Aquarium on the list!
update on me- I went in for my high level ultrasound today. saw and photographed all 4 ventricles of the heart, confirmed it was a girl and the HB was 155bpm. all in all, very good reassurance. I also found out that I have an Anterior Placenta!!! all that concern about not feeling much movement and turns out that I really shouldn't be at this point. I have had 8 ultrasounds. . you think someone would have told me that! gees. oh well, at least I know now and can stop worrying about it as much.
it's very funny to see DH moving into Dad mode. we have a very close up version of DD's privates and he was very protective. put it in his pocket to take home and refuses to e-mail it to anyone in the family. . said it's no ones business. I love it!! she is going to be very protected.
that's all for now. . enough rambling. thanks for listening and I hope everyone is having a great pregnant day!!!
well, I just checked out babynames. com, while I was supposed to be working. The short list is:
Hayden
Brady
Gavin
Camden
Chase
Preston (although it makes me think of Britney Spears, yuck! )
Keegan

Tanner- this one is really sticking.....:rolleyes:

Shoulda ~ Congrats on the good U/S results. I also have an anterior placenta (as does Shaq I think) and I'm not feeling much movement. It took me awhile not to be worried, but after three U/S and three H/B Monitors, I've been told by everyone that we have a very active baby and not to worry about it. I would love to feel the baby a little more consistently though, as now it's hit and miss (and I'm still not sure what's gas and what's baby.)
I feel a little bad for DH though, he's very anxious to start feeling the baby. The daily question is 'Can I feel him today?' Last night I put his hand on my belly to rub and he thought it was to feel the baby...oops!
GTT ~ My M/W has given me the requistion to go to the lab and have this done. She said anytime towards the end of February, beginning of March. She said that since my urine tests (have to do one at each appointment...does anyone else?) has been completely fine so far, no protein shows up, that I'm at less of a risk and she thinks it's better to wait until further along, as I'm not a high risk at this point. I will be about 28 weeks along when I finally make it in there.

My "itchiness" got really bad last week, and I started to develop a rash on my bbs and upper abdomen (right under my bbs). I called the doc and they said to come in. Turns out I have a "pregnancy rash." They don't know what causes it, but I am allowed to take Benedryl which is good. It has gotten a lot better over the last few days.. thank goodness!
She ended up doing my monthly check-up when I was there. Everything still looks good. I have gained 11.5 lbs and the heartbeat was again, in the 140's.
I am counting down the days until my big u/s (Feb. 13th). She didn't mention anything to me about having a full bladder, which I thought was odd since most of you ladies were asked to have one. I inquired, and she said, "no... a full bladder is not necessary." Sounds good to me.
Wedding Rings: Mine have become too tight so I took them off last week. I miss them :( I felt weird not having a ring so I went and bought a silver band. It's fine for now....
Things to do before baby arrives: I feel so overwhelmed as we have so much to do:
*Furniture: Crib and Dresser have been selected. We will place the order next weekend.
*Bedding: I've picked-out both a boy and girl bedding set. As soon as we find out the gender, I will order it.
*Room: I really want DH to install a chair rail with bead board underneath but I am not sure if we will have time to do this since we have a few other house projects we are working on.
*Paint: Once the bedding arrives, we will pick out paint.
*Window Treatments: I haven't a clue. We just got new windows 2 weeks ago. I'd love to have plantation shutters installed in the nursery, as well as all of the other bedrooms in the house.
*Registry: I have an idea of what I'd like to register for but we haven't done it yet. My shower will be in late April, so, I plan to register in March.
Have a great day! :D

Okay ladies...I told you I was going to stop shopping on Ebay, but alas I'm back on today. DH is going to kill me...yikes!
I've been looking at the Ocean Wonders Aquarium for the crib and there are two models for sale. Which is the best and/or newest model. One is Round with three little Buttons on the bottom. The other is more Rectangle and has a waver pattern in the window.
Which one should I be looking for?
kmmommy

MrsBrownie ~ The rounded one is the newer model. I'm not as familiar with that as we have the rectangular model with the waver pattern on the front. I'm sure they're probably the same other than the design.

I just ask, as there is a really good deal on Ebay (it's at $5.00 with pickup option available about 20 mins from us) and new in box. It was a double gift and that's why it's up for sale. Can't pass on that...even if DH is going to kill me. It's one less thing we have to worry about getting off our registry and why not.
Also found the Lamaze Knot that I've been looking at, NIB for a great price too with a low, low shipping (it's from Canada.) I must start looking for things other than just crib bedding and Robeez...or stop looking all together.
Kaeden's Mommy ~ Thanks for the quick response. I just didn't want to buy something that could possibly be out of date (didn't recognize the look of the round one.) But I think I would prefer the newer model to the older one if it's available. Mind you, they do look pretty comparable.

Brownie ~ Go for it! They retail for $25-$30 in the US.

Congrats on your little boy Jbenny!
This thread is moving way too fast! So I looked at Craigslist for the Ocean Wonders Swing and found one near my cousin for $40! It was only used a couple of times and the baby didn't like it (her loss). I'm having my mom talk to her about either buying it as a shower gift for later or buying it and we'll give her the money for it the next time we see her.
Names- That's funny that so many of us are looking at Irish names. DH is very proud of his Irish heritage so I think he was stoked when I said Collin. That was his very first reaction to it was that it was Irish like his name (Shannon). With girls named he has to be able to put Princess in front of it and imagine a goofy little girl.
I like those wall letters that were posted.- I have an aunt that is great with that sort of stuff... I wonder if she can make something similar. Guess I'll have to wait until after the baby is born to find out.

JBenny, Congrats on your boy!!! The pink lettering pic threw me off too but congrats!!

We did an amino and a blood screen to check the status of the rh neg antibidies---everything looks good! The baby is 11 ounces .
Now we have to wait 10 more days to get the amnio results.

Everything from my u/s looked fine. Much as my mom pushed to find out the sex, we stayed strong and baby is still a surprise!
After all my worrying about not feeling the baby, it was very active in there. The tech didn't say too much about if everything was OK, but everything appeared t be going smoothly, and all the parts were there. My nurse at the OB's had given me the wrong instructions for the u/s and had told me no food or drink for 4 hours before the u/s, so when I got there I had to drink 2 huge glasses of water! I'm actually glad I didn't drink it an hour before, because I had to pee like crazy 20 minutes after drinking it:eek:
Still torn on my bedding- do I get a neutral set made from Pooh toile, or wait and get my gender specific bedding after baby is born?
So many decisions!
Congratulations Jbenny on your boy, and maryanne on your girl!

21 weeks, just 19 to go.
Jcharley – congrats on a good ultrasound and staying on the surprise side.
Bedding – jcharley, I’m all for neutral bedding and décor so that I don’t have to redo for baby #2, but if you really what gender specific and are okay with not having a completed nursery before the baby is here, then I say wait. You could always get some neutral crib sheets until you buy the gender specific set.
Tomorrow I have my first appt with my new PCP. He is a family practitioner. A friend/co-worker suggested him. She said that he loves babies and is great with kids. The appt tomorrow is really for me to get on record and to get my cholesterol checked. I will use the opportunity to ask a few baby questions.
I’m going to try to sign off from here until lunch time. Adios.

Maryanne-Congrats on your GIRL!
Jbenny-Congrats on your BOY!
I am 21 weeks today! I am already tired of being pregnant. I've just been so sick and blah this whole time. I'm ready for him to be here already :D . Wait til I get huge AND feel yucky, then the complaints are really gonna fly :rolleyes: !
I have an ultrasound tomorrow. It would have been my big US had the little one not caused so many problems so his mommy could find out his sex sooner. I am going to try to get a DVD of this one, I can't wait to see him again! I'm thinking it's my last one til around the end since he's not sick after all.

Ryan: Oh BTW... Sunshine.. I think I saw you post Ryan for a girl... YOU HAVE MY VOTE..... Is that your real name? The only other girl named Ryan I've seen or heard of was on Biggest Loser Last season or the one before .... Since the other day when we had "name fest" Dh is still on her being named Peyton Hope B---- (for now....)
PINK: I know how you feel .... I have not been as sick as most people on here but last night was one of my worst nights since getting BFP .... My back hurt most of the night, I had to switch sides with dh on our bed , put a pillow between my legs ... finally got 2 hours of sleep before getting up & running to the bathroom to throw up at 3 AM !!!!!!! Got up at 6:00 with tummy issues ... Ugggg I still have 19 more weeks of this ???

Sunshine and Pink – I know the feeling. I was thinking last night that I can hardly wait for the little on to be here. He is really working my "nerve". I have this hip pain, which many keep telling me could be related to my sciatic nerve. Sometimes the pain is dull and other times it is sharp, esp if I’m changing positions. Hope you are feeling better soon.
Pg stuff – my belly is starting to itch so I’m becoming more diligent with putting lotion on it.

DS: my belly has started to itch a little as well. SO far, it hasn't been too bad, though.
QOTD: Has anyone started producing colostrum yet?
One day after being on the beach in Hawaii, I took my full-of-sand bathing suit off. As I brushed the sand off my skin with my hands, I noticed some colostrum started coming out when I brushed my BBs. That was at about 19 weeks, I believe. Checking back to my old saved WC journal, that was about the time when I started producing with Connor. Sure felt good knowing my BBs are getting ready to do what they'll need to do after Dawson gets here! :)

QOTD – Something has started coming out. I‘m not sure what it was. I was doing a test to see if I have inverted nipples (from the book So That’s What They’re For!) and some clear stuff came out. I think I do have inverted nipples. I need to add that to my list of questions for the MW next week.

First off congrats to Maryanne on your Little Girl and JBenny on your Little Boy!as well as JCharley on your Suprise!
I just got back from my doc appointment. Again everything is great the quad screen came back negative so I am sitting pretty. I also talked about Lamaze classes and nursing and all that. So we'll get that all taken care of. Well gotta eat! I'll officially catch up in a 1/2 hour!

Maryanne ~ Congrats on your GIRL.
QOTD: Colostrum ~ Get out, both of you are getting leakage already. I am dying to find out if I will get it (which I haven't yet.) I have been using Lansinoh every morning for the last two weeks and used Cocoa Butter before that, but still no leaking.
DS ~ How do you check for inverted nipples?
My copy of 'Defining your own success - BFAR' was just shipped yesterday and I'm excited to start reading and preparing per the book. So far I haven't been able to make it through 'The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding' but I guess I better pick it up again and just read it.
Gosh, I never thought I would be jealous of leaky BB's.
Being Done Already ~ I have days (although don't like to admit it) where I'm just tired of being sick and tired. Days where I already feel so big and cumbersome where I just wish this baby was here already. And then I have days where I'm excited to see more changes and not have it all end too quickly. Mind you, I am counting down the days until I'm done work and even considering leaving a little earlier than planned...but it depends on the day.
I think one of my biggest problems is that I'm not feeling the baby move. I think that feeling it more often would be a big thrill for me and encourage me not to get so down. I also think if my belly were a little bigger (I know, bite my tongue) but I still feel like I just look like I'm fat. At least if I had a little bigger belly, people would know for sure and not just think I was putting on weight.
But I guess all that will come. I figure that May will be prettymuch a write off for everything. Work will be extremely busy and I don't want to leave anything to last minute, just in case. So that only leaves me with two and a half (2 & 1/2) months to get everything done that I want. Not that long, if I really put it into perspective.

oops...maybe I should clarify... I'm not exactly leaking yet, but I am producing colostrum inside there! They don't just randomly leak for me (probably not for another couple of months, I'll bet); it's more of when they get poked/prodded/squeezed/etc. The first time, it was because there was a bit of sand stuck to them in the grooves of my skin, and as I rubbed it off, it was enough to make some come out. :) I then squeezed them to see if it was what I thought it was, and sure enough, it was. :)

Lil-mrs – congrats on the test results.
Inverted nipples – Mrs Brownie - I will get the instructions from the book and post them. I have the Womanly Art of Breastfeeding but haven’t started it yet. How is it?
Mrs Brownie – I’m sure the movement and big belly will come soon enough. I still don’t feel my little as much as I would like.

02-08-2006, 12:49 PM
DS ~ If you could post it, that would be amazing. There is so much about my BB's that I'm worrying about right now and I'm afraid that so much is out of my control.
And for the movements, I sure hope it will come, but it's a little discouraging especially considering I am one of the furthest along. I will hit 24 weeks on Friday (yay!)
Connorsmommy ~ I'm not experiencing anything yet, whether it's leakage or not. I've been massaging (or more like squeezing my BB's) in the shower most morning and then massaging my nipples with cream every morning trying to prep them (probably a little early, but I figured the routine was good as I do the whole cream up my body and apply Body Butter to my belly and BB's too.) And nothing for me yet...but maybe soon.
I must stop my complaining too...it seems that all I'm doing the last few days.
Here's my positive for the day...it's almost time to go home (another hour) and I get to go and pick up my LONG awaited Baby Bedding. I'm so thrilled to get it, I just hope I like it and am not disspointed with it. I will try to take some pictures and post them tonight.

Colustrom- Nope, No leakage here. I don't know when that is suppose to happen. I didn't see it for this or next month in my "What to Expect..."
I guess my post did go through yesterday so I don't have as much catching up as I thought! I'll check in later. I'll just go ahead and edit it to add my belly shots from last week (week 20) and the week before since I have been bad about posting them.

It looks like all our categories got a little baby this week--one boy, one girl, and one more surprise! Congratulations Maryanne, JBenny, and JCharley!
Being Done Already: I'm not feeling "done" with pregnancy, but I haven't had to deal with m/s for quite some time. I'm also not having any discomfort due to the pregnancy...except for congestion and a bloody nose in the a.m. I'm apparently snoring this week but that bothers DH more than it bothers me. ;) I actually just started really feeling pregnant!
QOTD: Colostrum: I haven't investigated the situation yet. I guess pinching and rubbing will be on my agenda tomorrow morning while "lotioning up" and we'll see what happens.
Popped: Seems that I "popped" this week. A friend at the Superbowl party said, "it finally happened," meaning that my belly was finally evident. Then when DH came home from work last night and saw me standing in the kitchen making dinner, he said, "What happened?!" He said that until last night, I didn't look pregnant to him at all when I had clothes covering my belly. Then my friends at work said they noticed during a morning meeting that my belly was showing. It kinda makes me happy that the reason for my thickening middle is now obvious to everyone else!
I'm feeling really warm this week--my feet get especially hot. In fact, I have my shoes off right now. Anyone else?

Thanks for all the support. I really appreciate it.
Yesturday was quite a shock. Unfortunately researching the subject hasn't made things much easier. In general, having one artery instead of two in the cord raises the risk of some other abnormality to 30-50%. The most common are kidney and heart defects. After that are chromosomal and neurological problems. Growth retardation, low birth weight and prematurity are also mentioned quite often (usually due to the cord not providing enough nutrients to the baby). I luckily was pointed in the right direction to a thread over on Baby Center's web site that has a lot of positive stories and outcomes. Unfortunately the cord was the only finding in many of the women. I'm having trouble finding info on cord abnormalities and kidney problems that give prognoses, etc. It's frustrating. It's also worrisome that many of the women had level 2 ultrasounds and consults with perinatalogists scheduled pretty much immediately. At least I'll be armed with a lot of questions at my next appt. I just wish I didn't have to wait so long.
QOTD: Colostrum: I didn't leak any or attempt to express any with the last pregnancy.
Being Warm: Although I don't feel overly warm, I'm not freezing all the time anymore.
I need to get back to researching a little more. I'll hopefully have time to catch up on this thread tomorrow.

good morning everyone! I have a couple of firsts to report.
I had my first pregnancy comment based on belly size alone yesterday. our corporate attorney stared for a few seconds right at the belly and then started so speak. I could tell she was nervous about possibly asking if I was pregnant and having me not be pregnant so I asked if she was staring at my baby belly. she laughed and then we talked about it for a few minutes.
my second first. . I was walking to our department fridge to grab a ginger ale since nausea seems to rearing it's ugly head again and my reaches out and pats my belly as I walk past her! :eek: um. . . how about asking? a little warning? anything other than just grabbing??? a few inches in either direction and I could have had a sexual harassement case on my hands!!!
anyway. . the belly continues to grow, the name debate continues to create more havoc and time keeps on ticking away. I wish our nursery furniture would come in so I could gauge the size of it in the teeny tiny nursery we have and start buying other things. I'm eyeing a throw rug from PBK that I really want to order. . must contain self.
jay&erinn- thank you for the update and I am continuing to send positive vibes your way!
lil-mrs- nice belly shots!
mrs brownie- I totally understand your frustration on the movement. now that I know I have an anterior placenta, it seems I am even more antsy to feel the baby. I'm lucky if I feel it once a day. argh!!!
hope everyone has a great Thursday! only one more day until the weekend!!!

erinn-I know it's so hard to stay positive and just hope for the best, but try. That being said you should feel totally free to express your feelings about the situation, even if it's crying or whatever. Everyone would tell me not to get upset, wait til you know more, your hurting yourself, your hurting the baby (like I needed to hear that), etc. and sometimes I just needed to cry, get over it, and move on. Waiting for tests and waiting for results really, really sucks! I feel your pain there! I really feel like your little one is okay :).

Just popping in to say hello to all you beautiful preggo ladies :) It's almost friday!!!!!WOOHOO!!
I've been thinking about the bedding I picked out, the sports one from babies r us and I really hate denim and am wanting to find another sports themed bed set. Unfortunately all I'm finding either have denim on it, or are too pastel for my boy tastes. So if anyone has any suggestions I'm totally open to it.
Not sure if I posted this or not but our boy will be Peyton Thomas S. . Last night I was thinking about the letters on the wall and didnt know if I had told you all his name. LOL

I have an ultrasound today! The first one in a long time that I don't have to worry they are going to "find" something. I can't wait to see him. Not looking forward to filling up my bladder. It was painful last time. They said I was an overachiever and made me go empty it after they initially looked at the baby. I came back and they said I was STILL full!
I'm gonna go straighten my hair and go out to eat with my best friend before the appt. Back later for an update :) .

Pink - have fun at your u/s today!
Lil Mrs - nice belly shots, thanks for posting!
erinn - I know this has to be frustrating and confusing for you. My thoughts are with you for a healthy baby!
Dan's Girl - what a nice name! I really like the name Peyton alot, but I'm a bit biased (my DH is a huge COLTS fan!)
Being Done Already - since I still don't really feel like I look pregnant, and I'm not feeling bad, I don't have that "looking forward to getting it over with" feeling. I'm more just looking forward to "popping" and looking more pregnant than heavy.
Colostrum - nope, none here. Although I haven't been checking for it either.
We had our BIG ultrasound yesterday! I'm so happy and relieved and excited. The tech said everything looked awesome, but I'm waiting to hear back from my doctor this morning before I let out one final sigh of relief. She DID confirm it's a boy though...he wasn't shy about showing his unit off! It was so amazing to see him moving around, kicking and waving, making a fist, sucking his thumb. He even stuck this tongue out at us, that little bugger! Oh, and he's weighing in at around 14 ounces. Is that huge for 20w4d? It's funny, it seems on the larger side, yet I feel I'm hardly showing. Perhaps I need to lay off the Wheat Thins a bit!
Hope you all have a great day!

Thanks Lil Mrs! We found out pretty early on (at 12 weeks), but confirmation is a nice reassurance!
Shaq - hope you feel better soon. Get lots of rest and fluids...
Well, I just heard back from my doctor about my u/s yesterday. He says the baby looks really good. The only cause for concern is that I have a low-lying placenta, so I'll need a follow up u/s at 28 weeks. Does anyone else have this? From what I've read, it's fairly common at this stage of pregancy and the placenta usually moves up before delivery. Just checking.

Just want to let you know I'm thinking of you erinn.
Also, hope the hedaches subside for you shaqsangel.
leaking What funny timing you guys have! I have to say it was such a relief to see posts on this, because just last night (after reading The Womanly Art of BF) I squeezed my BBs just to see what would happen. (I'm unsure if my equipment is right for the job, if you KWIM). Well, some clearish fluid came out of one of them and it freaked me out a bit. I thought -boy, I won't do that again! So I guess that's a good sign that my body is prepping itself. Phew!
I have my next Dr. appointment on Tuesday, 2/14. Still going to let it be a surprise, but I'm so anxious to see the little one as it'll be the last U/S unless there's an issue or I go past 40 weeks, which I'm not hoping for. It'll also be good to make sure all's going well in there.
Anyway, gotta get back to work, but wanted to swing by and say "hello" to all my fellow Junebugs!

Well, I am in a super fantastic mood (despite a crappy day at work) and can't believe how some stupid little things can affect my mood so very much.
To start I will be 24 weeks tomorrow. Again, these little milestones make me so happy and being another week along is so very exciting.
Leaking ~ Well, after my complaining post yesterday (so sorry about that) I went home to investigate a little more. This is probably TMI but after some pulling, pushing and lot's of squeezing (nice visual eh?) on my poor nipples, I found out I AM PRODUCING COLOSTRUM. Probably not that exciting for most, but it means that I have a very good chance of being able to breastfeed after my reduction. I'm ECSTATIC about it, and keep pinching my BB's to make sure it hasn't stopped. Only the left one leaked last night, but this morning the were both working. Mind you, it's only little droplets each time, but at least it's something which is better than nothing.
Baby Bedding ~ After more than a months wait, I FINALLY received my Baby Bedding last night and am COMPLETELY THRILLED with it. It was totally worth the wait and is absolutely Gorgeous. Even DH, who wasn't happy with me buying it without him knowing, admitted that it's very cute for a baby.
It just all seems to work out perfectly! The paint colours we picked, without having seen the bedding in person, is a perfect match (both the yellow and the green.) And the bedding doesn't have white in it (which it looks like in the picture) it's a Cream...which will match the crib perfectly.
I'm just so happy about it...we are going to have the cutest nursery for our little one. Now, we can start painting and getting organized. Plus, I found out that closet organizers are on sale at a local store, so I'm going to pick one up this weekend.
The Best ~ I'm definitely feeling the baby much more than I have...I'm starting to recognize the movements for what they are and not just gas. It's a wonderful feeling and to be honest, I can't wait until the kicks are constant and move my belly (so DH can feel them.)
So, all in all, I'm a very happy person today. I'm going to go home and take some pictures of the bedding too. And if anyone is still looking, I would totally recommend what we got, it's beautiful and exactly what I was hoping for.

So I asked for the dvd of the ultrasound and they said they aren't doing that yet. They apparently use videotape still and I did not have one because I was told not to bring one last time by the dumb appt. desk lady :mad: . So DH missed a super cool u/s and I have nothing to show him :( . They put some stills on a disc for me and printed out some 4D pictures of his face. Those are COOL. If DH ever gets to scan them for me I will post them. I can't open the cd for some reason. I hate this computer. I will have Dh open it at work and email me pictures.
He's not huge like I thought, he's 15 oz. About average they said. They said he looks great. The Dr. said he thought I made the right decision by foregoing the genetic testing so that made me feel good.
Because I was testing postive for neural tube defects before I am at risk for Toxemia, early contractions, and the baby might stop growing at the end and we may have to induce. They will just monitor me carefully.
And I GAINED 6 lbs. Finally woo-hoo!:D

MrsBrownie I just wanted to say congratulations on the colustrum!! I've been checking for some since I had BR, too, but haven't found any yet. Keep your fingers crossed for me!
Erinn I'm thinking of you!
Pink sorry to hear your DH missed the appt and that you couldn't get video of your little guy. That sucks! :(

Mystikal- I never produced colostrum or leaked before giving birth (or after for that matter) but I was able to BF, so don't panic if you aren't leaking! :D

Mystikal ~ Thanks for the congrats. I figure that you might be able appreciate what this means for me and I'm crossing my fingers for you too. I know that it's not conclusive, but just the fact that I'm producing and able to get it out, means that at least all my parts are working and the chances for me being able to BF just increased. It's wonderful to at least know...the not knowing is what's been killing me.
Okay...I'm done now, but I just can't get over how excited and relieved I am that my BB's are doing their job.
BTW ~ I just got my copy of 'Defining Your Own Success.' Jay&Erinn recommended it as a good read, have you looked into it yet? I will let you know how I find it and maybe we can share some stories, etc.

I finally pulled out the book and found the part on checking for inverted nipples. I’ll post it when I get a chance to type it up.
I’ll catch up on reading the last 12 hours of posts as well.

Hello All :D
MrsBrownie WE HAVE VIABILITY TODAY :D
This is just another milestone that you all will reach very soon. It is very exciting to say the least.
jay&erinn I really do believe in my heart that everything will be ok with your little one. I know that doesn't help you not to worry, but just know that you have tons of support and prayers here.
I also believe that if the dr's were super worried, they would have had you in with a specialist that day.
Colostrum: No leaking. I didn't leak with Niko either. I actually got a little engorged after he was born cause he was in the NICU for a while and I didn't have a pump. When he finally nursed for the first time (almost 20 hours after birth) it was such a huge relief. I plan on taking my pump with me this time just in case I'm unable to nurse right away.
Being Done: I enjoy being pg. I guess cause it took so much for us to be able to be pg and I know that I am lucky. However, I am ready to meet my little one. I am so anxious to see how much he may be like or different from Niko.
So I'm sick today and have been for most of the week. I think we picked something up at the aquarium last Sat. Niko's nose was running all week and now mine is too, with a very sore throat :( I'm also freezing even though I have the space heater going.
I don't want to jinx myself so I'm going to speak about this matter in a round about way... You know that thing you do in the morning that includes you putting something in your mouth to make your funk go away? Well for the past 4 mornings I haven't gotten sick from doing it. I'm not saying it's over completely and it won't come back, but it's nice that it hasn't happened.
We still don't have a name for the baby yet. I emailed Brian Noah and Nathan and he said Nathan is ok, but no Noah. I guess I like Nathan but I really like Gabriel. He said last night if I let go of the middle name then I can have Gabriel. Anal me must have a middle name cause Niko does. So we're still deciding.
And lastly, I don't think I'm going to make it until May 19th. I'm having some serious BH every day and they are regular. Yesterday they were every 20 minutes for almost all day. All the links say they should be sporadic but they aren't. They don't hurt and aren't getting worse, they are just there :/ I'm drinking plenty of fluids and resting when I can but they are here :/ I didn't have them with Niko until the end so this is new for me.
Ok, I'll be back later to post my latest belly shots.

Good morning everyone...it's FRIDAY and that means I get to sleep in tomorrow.
Nikos ~ It's wonderful to hit the 24 week mark...I knew there was a reason I was so excited about 24 week mark. Congrats to you too...can anyone believe how quickly time is going (despite my 'I'm done with being PG comments.') it's still going by so quickly.
BB's ~ I talked to DH about my leaking BB's last night, after being so proud of them. He was not impressed at all...I think he's started mourning the loss of his favourite play things (what can I say, my DH is a Boob man.) After telling him that stuff is now coming out, I don't think he's going anywhere near them anymore, which does suit me just fine now cause they are so sensitive.
Baby Kicks ~ And after complaining about not feeling the baby move, he's kicking full force now. Last night I REALLY felt the kicks as kicks and not just gas bubbles. The kicks I feel are like a bubble popping. But he started kicking repeatedly last night and they were shaking my belly. Unfortunately when I ran downstairs so DH could feel, he stopped. As soon as DH would take his hand away, he started again...little bugger. Today, I've been feeling kick after kick for the last hour...I LOVE IT! Although I can see how it might get a little sore or tiresome after a while, but I WILL NOT COMPLAIN.
And that's it for me...I too have a belly picture I want to post (clearly feeling confident and in a good mood) and pictures of my baby bedding and paint colours. Figure I might as well share, but it will be a little later today.
Have a great one...and TGIF!
I am definitely feeling done today. All week I have had hip, groin and leg pain, bloody noses, nausea and fatigue, just downright MISERABLE:mad: To top it off, I drove over a freshly killed skunk and had to pull over to vomit on the ride to work today. I hope everyone else is having a better week! I just want to sleep the rest of the day, but I am at work instead. At least I hit the 24 month mark today....

It sounds like you are doing really good Mrs. Brownie. I'm glad that your little one is more active and you can feel him more.
Nikosmommy- I'm sorry that you are experiencing BH so often but yay for not gagging! Your belly shots look great and you are definately getting that mommy belly.
Ruby- Sorry that you're having a crappy day. I had that hip pain this weekend and it was so bad that I was limping. I asked the dr about it this week and if it helps he said Tylenol is okay, also if it gets worse he said that there are some stretches that we could go over at my next appointment. You may want to bring it up to your doc.
Being Done W/ Pregnancy- I think I am finally starting to enjoy it. The first half of it I have been waiting for something "magic" to happen. Now that I have my official "mommy belly" and can feel the him/her more often I am feeling a lot more comfortable. I talk to it in the car and at home. I think I am finally getting the sense that it is a person inside of me and not just me being pregnant- if that makes sense.
So has anyone experienced baby's hiccups yet? I think Babe had them the other day but I'm not sure. I know this sounds weird but they felt like little belly farts (sorry I know that sounds really weird & gross). I can't think of any other way to describe the feeling. I had about 3-4 a minute for about 5 minutes and then it went away. I can't think of what else they would be and they were definitely in my belly where the baby is.
I feel so proud of myself... I am starting to get really organized at work! I got a new file stand and I'm labeling everything. I want to get it all done while I am still in my 2nd trimester so that when it is time to train my replacement I'll already be organized. (For the record... I'm staying at my company but timing has it so that we will be in a new building when I come back and have a part-time afternoon postion created for me.)

okay i feel better today....no headaches! yay:) that rest helped out a bit. i'm gonna work more on getting more down time in cos they were getting downright painful. i had really severe migraines at the beginning and i am SO glad those didnt come back.
anyways nothing to report except that i'm feeling good and thoroughly enjoying baby kicking. its such a comforting feeling. some days its nice and strong for a long stretch of time and other days its random (like today). i thought i figured when baby is more active, but nah, baby is playing games with me!
NikosMommy great shots! i like the progression:)
colostrum none yet.

LilMrs He gets the hiccups every day :) I know it's hiccups and not kicks cause they come like people hiccups, regular and for a while. Kicks are here and there and not consistent, the hiccups are. You can't do anything about them either, they just eventually go away.

DOH! Pregnancy brain-I just realized I wrote 24 MONTH mark, what am I an elephant?? Too funny...
Yes Niko's-I am actually a May mom too, due the 31st, but OB told me she would probably induce me 2 weeks early because DS was big. So we will probably be the first too. Hopefully the "real" June mommies won't give us the boot....ha ha

Pink: Those are great 4d photos.
It is raining here .... we are supposed to be getting some rain/sleet this afternoon with it turning into snow .... hummm we will see.
Have a great weekend everyone.

I was just thinking about Dan's Girl request about sports theme bedding.
I had looked at a couple on Ebay before I knew my stuff was coming for sure. And the cutest one I saw was by Pottery Barn. Now I don't know if it's available in the store (don't have PBK up here) but it was called MVP or Lil' MVP and was absolutely adorable.
I still have the auction details on my Ebay account, but it won't let me copy the pictures. If you want me to send you to the auction site, let me know cause I would be more than happy. But it was almost a patchwork quilt look to it, and each 'patch' had a different sports theme...baseball, soccer, lacrosse, etc. If mine hadn't come in, that's what I was going to order because now we knew it was a boy!
Pink ~ Beautiful pictures...he's so sweet. I really want to do the 3D U/S, but we can't justify the cost when he's going to be here so soon afterwards (they recommend between 32-36 weeks.)
Sunshine & Ruby ~ That totally sucks about M/S returning. I have been very diligent with taking my 'magic pills' every night before bed. If I don't, I have an awful morning which makes the day miserable. I totally feel for you though.
Nikos ~ I never thought about Hiccups...I wonder if that's what my consistent 'kicks' could be. Would be funny that I can feel the hiccups but haven't been able to feel anything else so far. Must keep an eye on that.
Shaq ~ Glad you are feeling the movements too...it's a wonderful feeling and I'm just so happy that I'm finally feeling them.
Okay, back to work...trying to be productive, but it's not working so well.

Wow Pink those pics are amazing!
Nikosmommy- So are those hiccups then? I know I can't cure them... I just wondering about what I am feeling. Trying to create other mile stones I guess.
Oh... So I just had something scary!! As I was typing earlier I got really shaky and lightheaded. I had the girls cover the phones and get me some food. I'm hoping that it was a fluke and isn't gestational diabetes. Ofcourse it happens right after I saw the dr. I think I am going to call and ask them to do my GTT test at my next appointment (25 weeks instead of 29). I'm doing better now that I have had some OJ and sat for a bit but I am letting others keep a close eye on me.
Wow LilMrs-I have been having the same symptoms for the past 2 days too and I didn't even think of low blood sugar because I am constantly eating, but it's something to think about. I really should go home because when I stand up I get really dizzy and pukey. Nurses make the worst patients!! I keep chalking it up to pregnancy blah's but I might request an early GTT too. I have an appt next week.

Thanks everyone! I didn't go in and pay for 4-d photos, my regular U/S tech at my regular Dr. did them, so that was really cool :) !
It's rainy here too and the dog keeps tracking in mud and driving me crazy!

Mod coming in -
Due to server issues, we are asking folks to start new threads when they've reached 1500 posts per thread. Yours is currently above that, so we'd appreciate if you would start a new thread. Once it's up, just PM me and I'll lock this one. Thanks!

Ok, so who can create a new thread for us?
I guess we can keep the conversation going until then.
It's fun to see all the bellies. I need to take more pictures.
Congrats to all who have started feeling the baby kicks more consistently. I guess we are still not too far along that they are not uncomfortable. I am not looking forward to getting my ribs kicked (I hear it can be painful).
