Jad ~ Congratulations on your boys! I hope the spot on the stomach turns out to be nothing. Do you have any name ideas? Just wondering since your job is twice as hard as most of ours. ;)

ladyjg I hope all turns out well. A 1% chance of something wrong is a 99% chance that nothing is, right?!

bottleored congrats on your healthy surprise!

jad Boys!! Thrilling really. I'm interested to hear your name ideas too!

ETA a very important comma "nothing is right v nothing is, right?" !!

Pink- For some reason when I read your posts about the middle name Hayden the first name that came to mind is Joseph. No clue why... But it's an idea.

Sorry- I'm catching up backwards----

Congrats to BottleoRed on a healthy baby! I give you props for your will power!

lawyerwifemom and Kaeden's Mommy - Names? You mean these kids have to get names? :p (We're nowhere close!) Of course, I should give you fair warning. Once we *do* have names, we probably won't share them. Gotta save something for a surprise at the end!

I will say that Vincent and Victor are two of my favs. I love V names, but we can't use them because of last name issues. Alas.

Thanks to all our kegel "reminderers"!!! :)

Congrats Jad!

DH and I were just talking about names and he doesn't think it's a big deal if our baby and my cousin's baby end up having the same first name, we live in different states and only see each other 2x or so a year. AND they don't even know the sex of their baby yet, but she is due before me so we may go with:

Hayden Christopher
or
Hayden Cooper
or
Christopher Hayden

Those are winning today :rolleyes: . It could change tomorrow.

Pink ~ I'd go with Hayden as the first name. It's one of my favorites and I'd name another boy Hayden if it didn't rhyme with Kaeden.

Congrats on all the new genders! I have been lurking along! My u/s is Wednesday, February 1 and after today's appt, my dr is predicting a girl so we will see!

I also read Baby Bargains in one day and found it incredibly helpful!

I registered for Lamaze, Breastfeeding and Infant Massage classes, which take place in March, April and May. My BF and DH are going to be my labor coaches so they will both come to my Lamaze class.

Good luck to all the u/s ladies coming up! Hope you babies show the goods!

Congrats Jad on your twin boys! What fun they'll have together. :)

Bottleored-glad to see there are a few of us holding out. I'm totally getting a bit jealous of others knowing so I'm glad to see a few of us surprises holding out.

JUST this minute had a call from the birth centre and the results from my u/s say that all is fine and dandy with little squirt. :D I wasn't super worried but it's nice to hear them say it. I'll get all the results at my next appointment in 3weeks time but for now I can be confident of it all being a-ok. Phew!

Got my order of maternity clothes from Gap, Motherhood & Old Navy the other day. I'm not sure how long some of the shirts will last. One is quite large but the others don't have a huge amount of room for growth so I'm hoping I'll keep staying pretty small...my belly is HIDING! At my local church there are 6 of us who are pregnant at the moment and one other chick is due on the 15th of June and she has the cutest belly already and here I am still wearing normal clothes quite happily... :rolleyes: Oh well get over it I know...I should be happy that my body hides these things for longer.

Birth classes-We're registered for a 7 week course with an independent midwife run class starting 28th January. I'm really looking forward to it. The topics she covers are all stuff I want/need to know and she was highly recommended by the staff at the birth centre. I'm just waiting on Booktopia to deliver New Active Birth by Janet Balaskas which we're to read before the classes start.

Hospital tours-I've had a tour of the birth centre delivery rooms and they're really nice and homey. We'll probably have a look around the hospitals normal L&D area sometime but since we're not likely to deliver there I'm not going to be stressing out if I don't see them at all. It's only if there are complications during labour and delivery that I would need to be transferred there and my midwife from the centre would go with me if that happened.

Sorry it took so long to post. I had to call a lot of family and friends to let them know that we are having a....

girl!!!:D

My husband and I totally thought we were having a boy. I even had dreams that we were having a boy. We were both shocked. I found out that our baby has a couple of those cysts things in her brain, but I heard from the ultrasound technician, a radiologist and my doctor that it is totally normal... that they go away towards the end of the pregnancy... and that babies are born with cysts and are totally fine.

Lady - I want to reassure you as well that I hear that cysts are pretty common. Hearing from the radiologist in person that cysts are normal was very reassuring. My doctor confirmed over the phone that it isn't anything to be worried about. I just see it as an opportunity to see another ultrasound.

Now... I have to start thinking of names. :) I think that picking a name is the hardest part of being pregnant. It would be so much more convenient if I dreamt a name and if my husband dreamt of the same name. Hmm.... if my whole family dreamt the same name... that would be awesome.

congratulations on your girl pinkbeary! seems your screen name is most appropriate!

congratulations on your boys jad!

I hope I didn't forget anyone.

so DH and I are on a quest to find the best crib possible. babiesrus last night yielded nothing. DH was concerned that all the cribs were too rickety. so usa baby tomorrow night should be better, I hope. we did decide on strollers. we are getting the jeep liberty one as well as the snap and go. I am just not a huge travel system kind of person and I think i would end up tripping all over something that big. who knows though, as a first timer, i could completely regret that decision.

pink- I like all 3 names you have picked out!

birth classes- with DH still in school, I guess we better get on the scheduling. thanks for the reminders.

only 5 more days until my ultrasound!!!!

Lady: I am sorry you have to sit and wait.. will be thinking of you!

Ruby: I must say I LOVE the name Riley.. and I think Braeden Riley is awesome… My SIL has a brother named Braettin (pronounced like the sound of Great-in, but w/ a B of course)

Bottleored: Yeah FOR YOUR SURPRISE AND GREAT ULTRA SOUND!!

SHOULDA!! So funny you should mention Jeep Liberty because DH and I were looking at Jeep Liberty Sahara Pac and Play.. not a fan of the colors.. but do like how it can go to the beach or pool or whatever…(I know most you can but we were looking for something very plain and simple)

Jad: Congrats on your boys!!

KAADEN: YOU READ MY MIND ABOUT THE swing/bouncer… THANKS SO MUCH I AM GOING TO DO SOME RESEARCH NOW.

Pink: GIRL.. YEAH

UPDATE:
I have some funny photos... it had it hands up in front of its mouth then was waving them... mouth was open had its ankles crossed... and of course was moving around a ton. I am a few days ahead of schedule.. (at least the baby is.. so I am a few days further but they are keeping the same due date..) the baby weighs about 1 lb.. and I am very proud to say I have only gained 11 lbs for my 5 months... :).. .. we got to see a 4-d image so it was really cool... and I must say IT WAS SO HARD not to find out but we stuck to our guns and waited... but I seem to think a boy...

THREADMISTRESS: Could you please update my status Baby Is a Surprise, next appt is February 21 and my birthday was last week.. so I am now 29.

Congrats on your BOYS Jad! And congrats on your girl GIRL Pinkbeary!

Does anyone know what the current B/G/surprise count is for us June ladies? Just curious.

We'll probably attend a childbirth prep class (the weekend one) in April, and may also do a breastfeeding and infant CPR class in April or May.

Now that we have the baby's crib, dresser and rocker on order, I hope to go to the paint store this weekend to get some color ideas for the walls. Sort of a first step.

In February, I think we'll start the registering process a little bit at a time. It may be overwhelming for us to do in one day or weekend, so I think if we attack it in pieces it'll be more managable.

Anyway, hope all of you are doing well. I'll try to visit again soon to keep current. This thread moves so quickly!

We had our big US yesterday. Add another one to the BLUE TEAM b/c we are having another...

BOY :D

I knew it was a BOY before the tech even told us. I could just tell, I guess. I have to admit, I was disappointed for just a tiny second. Knowing that DH and I will probably not having other kids (b/c we only really wanted to have 2) and that I may never have a DD of my own. But that soon changed after I realized, I'm giving Jaden, my DS a little brother. What's more precious than that? Brotherly love. When I see the relationship my DH has with his brother, its soo awesome. I hope my BOYS share that same bond. :)

I still can't believe I'm going to be the mother of 2 BOYS! Woweee!

Just came by to drop off the good news. Be back later to catch up and with an US pic.

Ryan your little surprise sounds like quite the entertainer! ours is a surprise too and its funny that I had a dream it was a girl, but somehow feel its a boy! happy belated bday.

Last night i was at the gym doing my kickboxing class and it was pretty funny cos every time i would stop moving, baby would kick me as if to say 'come on mummy keep moving!'

we're looking into cribs this week-end and trying to narrow down our choices and also figure out the bedding we want. then i guess its on to strollers and such. this is all so overwhelming and every time someone asks me something, i think gosh i still have THAT to do!

I had a dream last night that we went back for another u/s (feb 2nd) & it was a boy ?!?!?! Has any one else had dreams like this?

I dreamed last night that the baby came out a girl and we had no clothes for her and no name! She was so cute and round, she had red hair and blue eyes (neither of us have red hair), she looked like a doll. She weighed 7 lbs 8 oz. Later I dreamed I had a boy and it had brown eyes and brown hair like DH and had DH's haircut!!!! Now that was pretty funny!

I am SICK today. I had the bright idea to have donuts and a small coffee from Shipley's, I probably drink coffee like twice a year. I think the coffee did me in, I vomitted and vomitted and still feel gross. I hope it goes away soon.

Congrats to all the mommies who had U/S!

Congrats on the girl pinkbeary. Glad everything looks good.

Shoulda – the cribs could really be rickety, but it could have to do with how well the employees put it together. Keep that in mind.

DH is off to Venezuela. I’m not sure what I’m going to do with myself. I’m thinking about going shopping. Tonight I’m babysitting for some friends. Their son is 15 months.

Happy Belated Birthday Ryan

Congrats on your boy Shamocha

Names – why is it so hard. DH has not boy names suggestions but likes to criticize what I suggest.

Sound familiar!

Rickety Cribs-I've read that some places deliberately put the cheaper cribs together rickety so you will buy a more expensive one. Also at my BRU, for some odd reason it's almost all teenage boys working there, so I doubt they put them together all that great. They may not even have the proper tools to put them together well. Just a thought.

ds and pink- I 100% agree with both of you and tried everything I knew to convince DH of the same thing. his point is that the kid is going to be rattling the crib anyway and if it's rickety now then it would fall apart later. made ZERO sense but I think he has his heart set on another crib so I figured I would see what he has in mind before I continue to argue. It would be so much easier if he would just let me make all the decisions!

01-25-2006, 11:32 AM
Pink – DH was decent on suggesting girls names (he gave one suggestion) so I thought he put forth a “little” effort. Now that we are on the boys names …he is useless.

Shoulda – if the guys would just leave all the baby decisions up to us, the selection process would be much easier. If it were up to me, our son would already have a name.

Jad ~ Congrats on your TWO BOYS!!! That's so exciting.

Pinkbeary ~ Congrats on your GIRL...the girls are starting to catch up.

Shamocha ~ Congrats on your second BOY...like you, I think I will end up with two boys and think that the bond between brothers is wonderful. My sister and I never had the bond that DH and BIL share and hopefully our kids will be like that.

Shaq ~ Congrats on your SURPRISE baby...good for you for staying strong and not cracking under the pressure to find out. Clearly, I cracked!

Pink ~ Sorry you are feeling so sick lately. I went two days without taking the 'Magic Pills' (Diclectin, for all you wondering what Magic Drugs I'm taking) and felt AWFUL. Luckily I remembered to take my pills last night and feel 100% better today...must remember to keep taking those pills.

MrsBrownie

DS ~ I hear you on the decisions with the Husbands. Luckily, I made the ultimate decision on bedding and bought it without his input (I knew he would like it though and that's why I bought it.) And he told me to go ahead and get whatever furniture I liked because 'that was my decision and he didn't really care!' Needless to say, as soon as saw the first option, he decided he needed to have a say in it and has made it oh so complicated.

I keep making small little purchases (blankets, onesies, shoes, etc.) without consulting him cause it will just get too complicated if I do. For a guy who 'didn't care' he's certainly opinionated on what we will and will not be doing!

Pink ~ Meant to mention that I love the name Hayden (was our first choice, but we aren't able to use it any longer) and I think you should use it as a first name if you like it so much.

DH hasn't volunteered any names that he likes, but he's sure been quick to voice quite adamantly the names he DOESN'T like, making the decision very hard. Luckily we had agreed on a second Boy name we both liked, but weren't anywhere near choosing a girl name. Wish everyone luck with choosing and Jad I don't envy you having to pick two first names and middle names too.

Ok so I have THE DUMB QUESTION of the day:rolleyes: ... But since we are on the topic of carseats... I am assuming I need to buy an infant car seat and also a bigger child car seat... right? I know it sounds silly but I never thought about it before..

Also, DH is very tall... does anyone know if you can buy extensions for the handles for some of these strollers that do not extend?

sunshineab622

I am assuming I need to buy an infant car seat and also a bigger child car seat... right? I know it sounds silly but I never thought about it before.. yes, you will need to buy an infant car seat (rear facing up to 20-22 lbs) then a front facing bigger car seat - here are some example pics of both

Infant car seat :

Front facing ...20 lbs & up:

does anyone know if you can buy extensions for the handles for some of these strollers that do not extend? I dont know but we will probably need one if they do make them - my dh is 6'4

Orange

Shaqangel, I think both of those cribs are really nice looking. It's just up to you which color you like!

names Unfortunately, we're not telling until baby boy arrives. We are making progress though, we have a 3 first names and 2 middle names under consideration so far. DH is pretty helpful, although he does get going n the most ridiculous names he can think of sometimes which is not helpful at all. :rolleyes:

Double stroller I think that we're going to hold off for now. DD will be almost 3 when this baby is born and even now she doesn't ride in the stroller that much anymore. We have both a travel system and the Chicco Savvy Soho, so if we really need to have both kids in strollers we'll just use 2 strollers. Since we both WOH, I don't foresee a lot of times when just one of us will need 2 strollers.

infant carseat Ryan, there are convertible carseats that are made for babies as little as 5 pounds so you don't have to get both. The infant carseat is very convenient in the beginning though because you can leave the baby in it, especially nice if s/he is sleeping when you arrive wherever you're going. Otherwise you have to carry him everywhere.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I found a physical therpaist that I think will be able to help me with my pubic symphysis problem. Hopefully I can get an appointment with her sometime soon. I feel like such a lame old lady, waddling around at only 20 weeks. This weekend we went to Ikea and then to BJs and by the end I was just looking ridiculous and I had to sit on the couch the rest of the day to recover. I did discover that sleeping with a pillow between my legs helps a lot - I get better sleep and I'm slightly more mobile when I wake up. I had to tell my boss (although I wasn't brave enugh to say "pubic", I just said pelvic area) yesterday because we're taking a quick business trip to Chicago and I wanted to warn him that I can't walk very fast at the airport, so we have ot make sure to get there in plenty of time.
Otherwise I still feel great and I'm looking forward to my next midwife appointment on Tuesday!
well I just signed up for three of the four classes I am going to take at the hospital. very exciting!!!! they are scheduled pretty far out though. . April for all three of them. I am guessing I'll be showing pretty good by then. and I think i remember someone asking about taking DH to the breastfeeding class. . our hospital offers two different ones, one for women only and one for couples. I figure I am going to need all the help I can get since on one in my family has ever nursed so DH is signed up. . whether he likes it or not!
and. . my best friend just scheduled my shower for the last Saturday in April!! :eek: that seems so official! and I know it's far off from my due date but with DH graduating in May and two friends getting married in May, it's really the only weekend that works. holy smokes! it keeps feeling more and more real.
and one question. . does the baby kicking feel like butterflies in your stomach???? cause if so, then I have never felt the baby more this much and I am super excited about it!!!!
Handle extensions- My DH is 6'4" as well, and much as we loved the Combi stroller, it was too short for him. The Chicco Cortina at BRUS had an adjustable handle that was the tallest we found, and plenty tall enough for him. We looked at a Metrolite at USA Baby that was pretty tall, and better quality than the Metrolite we saw at BRUS. One of the higher quality Metrolites was in the Central Park toile, and had one of Graco's new Safeseats that hold up to 30lb and 1 year matched it. I think we are torn between those 2 right now.
strollers ~ Any RO's planning to buy a double stroller? If so, what kind (tandem or SBS) are you looking at? I am planning on getting the side by side stroller's. I am currently looking at the Combi Savvy EX. It does fit the Combi infant carrier. But I am waiting the new reports to come out on the saftey ratings.
Jay I really want to get the Combi one too! I guess we just have to wait.
Jad CONGRATULATION'S! My husband is a identical twin! I know you probably already said this in here, but do twins run in your family?
Pink CONGRATULATION'S on your little girl!
Ryan CONGRATULATION'S on your surprise baby! And happy belated birthday! About the carseats. Technically you can start with the convertable carseats. They start at 5lbs. I think alot of people like the convience of the infant carriers. You don't have to take them in and out of the carseat.
shamocha-I felt the same way finding out about the second boy but now I am excited! Connor'smommy is having another boy too, so you are not alone! I always pictured myself with one of each so I sometimes mourn the idea, but for the most part I can't wait to see how different and how alike they will be. I won't even think about #3 until the new baby is a year old or so, but I'm pretty sure I couldn't do 3 kids!!
Congrats Mystikal on your baby girl!!
Belly – I’m behind on belly shots. I will have DH take one this weekend. I have a defined baby belly. There is no question. I still have shirts that are too tent-like to wear now, but I’m looking forward. I wish I had more form fitting shirts that are long enough, because I love showing off the belly.
Hello All :D
I want to let the mommies who have concerns with their u/s's to know that I'm thinking of you and keeping you and your little ones in my prayers. Everything will work out fine.
Congrats to everyone who has found out the sex. Kudos to the moms who are waiting for birth to find out the sex.
I seem to be doing much better. I still have a pain here and there, but not as bad as last week. I'm usually sore by the end of the day after chasing Niko around and just general bending and stuff. I'm still tossing cookies when I look at my toothbrush in the morning so that irritates a little too :/
I always pictured myself with one of each so I sometimes mourn the idea, but for the most part I can't wait to see how different and how alike they will be.
I had a lot of time to think about that while I was in the hospital both times. I still want my little girl, but am excited that Niko will have his best friend for life.
I haven't had any dreams about giving birth to a little girl but still wonder if the drs could be wrong :/ I did have another u/s in the hosp and was reconfirmed a boy but this is the same place that told my friend a boy and it was a girl :/ She only had 3 u/s's but still it was a boy every time and Serena is very much a girl. They said it was the umbilical cord :rolleyes:
My next u/s is Valentine's Day. I'll be having one every 4-6 weeks until he comes along with the bpp every week starting at 32 weeks. Hopefully he'll show his stuff more and more so we're 100% sure.
Ok, so now I have a new fear. I had a cat scan the first time I was in the hosp. Before the scan everyone told me that there was no risk to the baby. Then the tech's tell me that there is a risk cause it's radiation. Plus the anesthesia and all the pain meds. This had to be done, but no one can tell me 100% what affects it will have on the baby :( It's been on my mind a lot lately. I just have to pray that everything will be fine.
And lastly, last night I was walking around naked and Brian asked what was wrong, he said I looked lost. I told him my head was spinning from the vicodin and his response was, "and you look very pg too". He said he hasn't seen my naked belly in a while and now I look huge. I've been preoccupied the past few weeks to worry about being naked in front of him :D
Nikosmommy – you definitely look pregnant. I hope all is well with the baby.
I always pictured myself with one of each so I sometimes mourn the idea, but for the most part I can't wait to see how different and how alike they will be.
It's funny because I always pictured myself with 2 girls and now we're having one of each. When I tell people we're having a boy, they always assume that we must be so happy that we're having one of each. Of course I'm happy, but it is taking me a while to get used to the idea of having a boy since I always saw myself with 2 girls.
NikosMommy, I'm glad to hear that you are still getting better and better. I'm sure that the baby is fine and they would not have subjected you to those procedures if there was a lot to worry about. Obviously it wasn't an ideal situatioin, but it was just one time.
Boy, things are really starting to move around here!
My 20w appointment went well. I felt so much better seeing my own doctor. I gained 7 1/2 lbs :eek: :eek: My only consolation was that I hadn't gained any weight before now. Guess I can stop trying to gain weight :o Ahh... back to my normal eating habits. We heard the h/b for the first time - awesome - 166 bpm. Next appointment is 2/28
Kaeden's Mommy, mystikal and pinkbeary congrats on your girls!
Jad and shamocha congrats on your BOYS!! (all 3!)
Ryan props for sticking to your guns with your surprise baby! Happy belated birthday!
mrsbrownie and wow, you got so many pictures, I'm jealous. well, out of the 62, there were about 20+ of the heart because she was having trouble getting the angle she needed, and another 20+ where I had NO idea what the photo was of, so we ended up with under 10 that were discernable!
nikosmommy glad you are feeling better. I know your baby is well protected inside of you and that the hospital staff did everything they could to minimize any effects. Prayers are coming your way.
Do you consider yourself a Mommy/Mom/Mother yet? And if you do, are you comfortable referring to youself as 'Mom'? This has been a tough one for me. People keep calling me 'mommy', etc, but I don't feel like one yet. DH has been talking to the baby, saying 'it's Daddy'. I think if I started to actually talk TO the baby referencing myself as 'mommy', I'd totally break down. Maybe after 24 weeks. I did want to start reading books (we have tons) each night, but I feel a little silly :o Maybe next month ....
tours/classes We're just starting to consider these. There's a childbirthing class that's AN ENTIRE SUNDAY! I guess that's in lieu of an 8 or 12 week course, but man, it could be brutal to be there from 8:45-5:00. I can't believe we'll retain all the info. I'm not sure how much Lamaze they'll cover, but I think I may seek out other places as well. We'll probaby end up taking the class in April (at about 30-31 weeks) instead of the one in May (35 weeks). I think you're supposed to be finished by 32 weeks??
I've read that some places deliberately put the cheaper cribs together rickety so you will buy a more expensive one. I read the same thing - probably in Baby Bargains.
this totally had my cracking up at my desk. thanks for a good laugh sunshine!!!
I am still not 100% sure that what I am feeling is the baby. it's not kicking really but I just have butterflies in my stomach quite a bit. it's like that nervous feeling you get before you have speak in front of a large group or something. maybe I should suspend my disbelief and try to believe for a while. I think I will be able to believe a lot more when I see the baby at my ultrasound next week.
I can't catch up to all the posts... but congrats to everyone that already had their u/s. How exciting!!!
Sorry to the mommies or mommies-to-be that haven't been feeling well. I really hope it will pass quickly. Usually, lots of sleep can do wonders if you can manage it.
Only a few more hours until our u/s!!!
Classes
We have signed up for the day-long Saturday classes as well. One in Feb the other in April. The hospital tour will be in May.
Mommy
We have a cat and we do refer to ourselves as mom and dad, moreso now that we are expecting. It doesn't bother me when people call me mommy. Though I do think about it and I'm not sure I feel like a true mommy yet.
Carseats
We are so behind on this one. We haven't really started looking. I asked DH to read Baby Bargains and CR to get us started. But we have our crib all set and ready to go.
Movement
I have been feeling movement for several weeks now. Last week DH was able to feel it as well for the first time. I tried to keep track of the baby's schedule but I am now giving up, it seems too random! I read somewhere that it is an indication of their sleep/wake pattern for after birth. I keep telling DH that we will have a hyperactive baby because of how much it is moving.
KEGELS reminder!!!
Pediatrician
QOTD (for first time moms): Have you started looking for a pediatrician?
My sister said it's a good idea to have a doctor picked out ahead of time. The baby will need to be seen by a pediatrician at birth and shortly after. I have asked the mommies in the neighborhood for recommendations, that's what my OB suggested. They said that the docs offer a couple of free consultations prior to baby's birth so we can meet them. I guess I still have some time to call them, but it's nice to have a short list to work from.
Here's a 20w shot:
Gender count - 16 boys, 7 girls, and 9 surprises
Guess what...there's an October Mommies thread that just opened. I'm so excited, that means we are so much closer to meeting our own little ones. Can you believe it...in some ways the weeks are flying by, but in others it seems like it's going to take forever to meet our baby.
Ryan ~ Missed you yesterday, wanted to say Congrats on your SURPRISE and good for you for not finding out...all you surprise mommies are strong for sticking to your guns. Will definitely do that for Number 2.
Mystikal ~ Congrats on your GIRL, that's so exciting to find that the numbers are starting to even out a little.
Bottle ~ Great pictures...I have four that I would love to share, but don't have access to a scanner. Maybe I will take a picture of the picture tonight and post them. I can't wait to get more tomorrow...going to see if I can get a *Money Shot* picture of the boy bits.
Is there a current count on the Boys vs. Girls count? Just curious!
Izzy ~ Nice picture, I love the round curve of your belly. I've still been feeling like I'm not noticeably pg as I haven't really had any comments from people at work or anywhere for that matter. It's especially bad when I put my winter coat on, but I guess all in good time. I mean, the belly is definitely there, I guess it's just not that noticeable yet I suppose.
QOTD - Pediatrician ~ Haven't really thought about it yet. I do know that I would prefer to have a Ped for our baby than just go to a GP, but haven't even thought about looking yet. Something I really should look into though, as we are having a huge shortage of doctors and it's not easy finding one accepting new patients. Thanks for the reminder.
Carseats ~ Haven't really thought too much about this yet. We were just going to use the Graco Snugride that my sister used with our nephew. When I told my friend about this, she looked at me with horror and said that it was unacceptable...made me feel pretty bad actually. So we will probably get a Peg Perego travel system (hopefully a gift from my parents) and keep the Graco for DH car. I didn't realize it was THAT unsafe to re-use a car seat, but apparently it is (it's only 2 1/2 years old.)
Classes ~ I think I am going to sign us up tomorrow while in for my U/S. Dh was a little worried that we would be taking them during hockey playoffs (heaven forbid) but I would rather take them early (Feb-March) than later. I also want us to take a baby CPR class and a breastfeeding class, but haven't really looked into them.
Movement ~ Still not feeling movement regularly, at least not that I can distinguish anyways. I'm sure it's related to my placenta placement, but it's a little discouraging (especially when I hear about so many DH feeling movement too.) I am pretty sure though that I've been feeling the baby rolling around...not kicks and pokes, but flipping and flopping going on.
Ultrasound ~ I have my follow up U/S tomorrow. DH can't go, so mom is going to join me. Hoping that everything turns out OK (can't help but worry a little) and that we get some better pictures this time. Going to have them confirm that we are expecting a BOY and see if I can't get a picture of that (is that wrong or what?) I'm just PRAYING that I get the nice U/S technician and not the cold witch we had last time. Will update tomorrow after it's all done.
MrsBrownie
01-26-2006, 01:05 PM
Wow...we still need some Girls to show themselves and even things out. What are the odds that all the SURPRISES are girls. Then the numbers would be just about perfect (not including those that haven't updated yet.)
And adding up all the numbers, there's still about 12 mommies going for their U/S and needing to update the group.
I can't wait for the final count, how exciting.
Baby Doctor – we are using a family practice in place of a pediatrician. He was recommended to me. I will actually meet him for the first time on Feb 9. I hope I really like him, because I dread the dr hunt.
MrsBrownie – reusing a carseat is okay as long as it is still up to code and has not been in any accidents. Since you sister used it, you could easily find out it’s history.
Time is flying…there is already an October mommies thread. I remember how excited we were when the July Mommies thread started.
Wow Oct. mommies already :eek: that is wild ...
Has anyone picked out a bedding set from looking at pics online - gone to see it in person & not liking it? I have been searching for the Kidsline Flutterbye bedding (babydepot & babies r us) did not have it on display or in the store but I could order it - I want to see it before I buy it. I saw several other sets that I loved online but when I saw them in person I was like ewwwww -
MrsBrownie
01-26-2006, 02:38 PM
Sunshine ~ I bought mine online and have not seen it in person yet...but, having said that I read all the reviews on Babies R Us and they were all great, saying that the pictures didn't do it justice, etc, etc.
I figured, if worse comes to worse and I don't end up liking it, I could probably sell it on Ebay for exactly what I paid for it, if not more. I've been watching other sets exactly the same go up and they are being snatched up unbelievably quick. So for me it worked okay.
If you were to buy it and didn't like it, through Baby Depot or something similar, couldn't you return it. My only problem was that I couldn't get any of those places to deliver up to Canada, so my only option was through Ebay. I searched through thousands of different sets and kept coming back to this one every time. If you like it that much (like I did) I say trust your gut and order it.
DS ~ Thanks for the reassurance...I figured it would be okay and would've had it checked through the police, but we were thinking about getting a travel system and my mom offered up the majority of what it would cost. So, I will just go that route and probably use the second one for DH's car.
(((PINK CONVERSE)))
"I thinK" you would be just under 5 months at 19 weeks. The trick is remember that we are pregnant if we go by the last period for just under 10 months actual months..more like nine and a half
mid-sept, oct,nov, dec, jan, feb, march, april , may , late june,
but one trimester=13w d so????? that doesn;t work! hmm I don't know?
Pink - since this is worrying you, I would skip the additional testing. This is the main reason why I declined all the testing. It can cause way to much worry. I suggest just waiting for the amnio results and pass on the additional testing. The final decision is of course up to you. You need to decide how important the results are to you and if you feel the need to know if you are having the PERFECT baby (as you stated).
We had our big ultrasound today. The baby was not shy so we were able to see...
our baby GIRL!
DH was really hoping for a boy because he had the name all picked out. I'm relieved because I have the biggest fear of circumcision so now I don't have to think about it.
We went out to dinner to celebrate and started working on girl names. :D Now I can start to decorate!
Oops forgot to add that our next appointment is Feb 23 (on my birthday). They gave me the special drink that I will need to do the blood sugar test.
I will find out on Thursday! 6 days to go! I hope the baby will show us...I'll just go crazy if I can't find out if it's a boy or girl. I can't wait to start shopping! It does feel, like someone else said, like we're waiting til the last minute to buy everything. We are going furniture shopping tommorrow. We probably won't make a purchase, but we will pick out what we want and find out when we need to order. If possible, we'll probably order at the end of March, when DH will be getting a ton of OT. We're going to a kid's furniture store and BRU. I'm so wary of BRU. I've heard so many stories of their stuff taking months and months to arrive.
You guys are scaring me will all of this stroller talk. I have no clue about any of travel systems vs. carriers, etc. I need to get crackin' and do some research. I also need to pick up Baby Bargains. Happy Friday everyone!
Izzy congrats on your girl!
pediatricians I've gotten 3 recommendations from friends/siblings, so we'll probably go to a 'meet the ped' night at the group. I found that asking parents why they like their ped is a good way to see if they would fit your style. I had one friend who doesn't like a lot of information, just wants to know if she needs to worry or not. She's very unlike me in that way. I want to have a discussion, so I think I'll end up ruling out her recommendation on that basis.
Thanks everyone. Still waiting on the results of the amnio and going to see a genetic counselor next Friday because they asked to see me to see if I wanted any further tests done. I'm just tired of worrying, that's all...
I am going with my best friend to look at baby shower invitations today! I should be in there getting ready. I haven't felt good lately. Still have the M/S.
I thought I was about 5 months. Thanks :) . My mom made me second guess myself, she told me "your not that far along :rolleyes: ".
ds2003
01-27-2006, 07:59 AM
The “how far along” wording is tricky. I’m 19w2d and when people ask me I say I’m about 4.5 since I’m almost 20 weeks (half of 9 months). However I consider myself to be in the 5th month of pregnancy.
I may have said this before, but I am looking forward to registering. I think it is because I love going to BRU and looking at baby stuff. When I go with DH I try to be quick. When we go to register I can take my time and touch everything. Luckily for me DH loves to shop so time shouldn’t be an issue.
I spoke to my mom yesterday about when she is coming up and how long she is going to stay. It looks like she will come up about mid June and stay for a week or two after the baby is born. Then she will go home for a few weeks so DH and I try and do things ourselves. She will come back a couple weeks before I go back to work and then stay for a couple of months. This way the baby will be a little older before going into daycare. Unfortunately he will be going into daycare during cold and flu season. That means I’m going to be sick. My mom really wants me to move home. I think I will at some point, but not right now.
Izzy ~ Congrats on your GIRL, the girls are definitely starting to catch up!
JBenny ~ I just wanted to offer a word of caution about waiting so long to order your furniture. The place we ordered from said it was an average of 8-12 weeks for delivery, depending on which company we went with. But we have been cautioned too that alot of time things will arrive damaged and it takes just as long to get the replacement parts. The option we chose to go with was to buy now, but only put a small deposit down on the furniture. I figure if it comes in 8 weeks (end of March) then we will be prepared to pay the rest of it by then. Something to think about though, and maybe you will find something you love that is in stock...wouldn't that be nice.
DS ~ Sounds like your mom is going to be a super help to you. I'm really lucky too, both sets of parents are retired and both live not more that 15 minutes from our house. The debate over who gets the baby when is raging even now...hopefully it will help though when it comes time to decide on daycare, having to only go three days a week is so much nicer than five. But we will cross that bridge when we get to it.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

My follow-up U/S is in about 3 hours...I'm actually getting kind of nervous about it, eventhough it will be my third one already. Nothing to worry about I'm sure, but that still doesn't make me feel better about it.

I am 22 WEEKS today...I guess from the chart posted, I'm entering my 6th month. I must say that is VERY exciting. It's going by so very quickly.

Other than that, dealing with a bad cough and sore chest lately. DH thinks it's pretty funny that everytime I blow my nose or have a good cough, I pee myself (mind you, it's only a little squirt.) So here is the reminder...

DO YOUR KEGELS LADIES...nothing worse than wet underpants!

Wishing everyone a great day and a great weekend to come!

Thanks for the Kegel reminders. I don’t do them daily and I really need to.

I cannot understand why stuff related to babies (cribs) and weddings (gowns) has to take so long to come in. If the crib isn’t a must for you to have before the baby is due, then waiting isn’t a big deal. Our son will most likely be in the room with us for a couple of months. On the flip side, even though we won’t be using the crib right away it will be nice to have the room all set…that is one less worry.

MrsBrownie – lucky for you to have both sets of parents close by. I like living in CT away from my parents, but now that we are having a child I wish I was much closer. I don’t know if my mom would be willing to watch the baby M-F but I probably could get her to do it 3 days a week. Anyhow, since we don’t live close…this is only wishful thinking. I am grateful though that she is willing to stay for a couple months after I go back to work.

I have read the same thing. And both my sisters' experience are consistent. That's why we shopped for our crib early. We were lucky they had it in stock but there was a broken piece. Luckily the company's customer service was AWESOME, we received the replacement guard rail 2 weeks later. (much better than baby bargains reported)

I don't think these delays are specific to baby furniture. I think it's all furniture. We've had to wait several weeks for many of the furniture items that we bought for our house so far. We just didn't mind so much on other stuff.

Pink: You and your baby are in my thoughts. I'm hoping for the best!

Izzy: Congratulations on your girl!

DS: My Mom would love if DH and I moved closer to her (and my brother's family). It is tempting since I love spending time with my family, but I don't think we can leave our life here--home, friends, work. I am jealous that your Mom is spending so much time with you after the baby arrives. Lucky. :D

MrsBrownie: Good luck at your U/S today!

Furniture: I'm using a Jenny Lind crib that my parents bought for my sister. It is 16 years old but it meets current safety regulations. It is cherry so it matches the two dressers we already have in the baby's room. We just have to move the twin canopy bed out and move the crib in....once we pull up the carpet, refinish the wood floors, and scrape the gross popcorn ceiling. :rolleyes:

Daycare progress: I got a great referral for an family daycare provider from a coworker who just returned from maternity leave last month. A few other colleagues have also used this provider and had only great things to say about her (and she only charges $8 an hour). I called the provider today and she sounds wonderful. DH and I are going to meet with her next Friday. We also have appointments with two centers that day. So hopefully I have this all settled by next Friday.

I bought two things off ebay last weekend and they both arrived yesterday. Both items are Gap maternity--a black pencil skirt and trouser jeans. Comfy clothes (bought cheap) make me so happy. I'm feeling great this week--even made it to the gym three times already! It is no nice to feel like myself again (that is, myself with a rapidly expanding belly)! Hope everyone has a good weekend!

Congrats on your little GIRL Izzy!

It is so exciting to hear what everyone is having!!

Things have been hectic around work lately. So I haven't had much time to myself to chat here. Luckily all the managers and sales people are out today for some big meeting so it is pretty dead today. Thanks goodnes--- I needed a break from CHAOS!

I'm feeling the baby more often this week which is really exciting. Especially now that we have had the u/s I have a better idea of what I'm feeling depending on where it's at.

So for some reason I am going back to my old habits this week. I forgot to take my prenatal twice this week and I have been craving my morning coffee and gone back. Also I started to get lazy this week and I have only exercised twice! I need to really get my butt back in gear, I have my walking shoes on today so I'm going for a walk at lunch. Hopefully it's still not raining.

Furniture- Hey- Ikea is walking is just kitty corner to us! Maybe I'll just walk that today and look at their bookcases and kiddie section! I think with this check we'll get the bookcase, dresser, and crib mattress. My DH just reached his 90 days and got a raise and I got my bonus for recruiting him!

DH is painting this weekend and has told me that I'm not allowed in the house all day tomorrow. I am so excited! We have been in our apartment since October and we haven't painted at all. Just last weekend the walls really started to bug me. I'm starting to feel like I am in a motel... Hopefully the paint will revive my love for the apartment. I'll have to post before and afters!

Wow, 21 weeks already....:)

CONGRATS to all the new GIRL mommies, and the new BOY mommies. So exciting!

DH felt Peyton move last night. I was sitting on the couch and felt constant flutters which I read may have been hiccups and told DH to see if he could feel. Asl soon as he touched me he looked up with the widest eyes and a grin and said" are those flutters my boy?" of course I teared up and said yes, then Peyton kicked really hard and he felt that too. He was so amazed and has been grinning all day today.

Sunshine~I've seen the Flutterbye in person and its really nice. The pictures make the colors a little more bright than they are in person but its close enough that I wasnt disappointed.I know what you mean about seeing it online and then you really see it and its either too light or too dark or just plain cheesy looking. Good Luck!

PediatriciansWe haven't started looking yet but I am getting reccomendations from my gf's who have babies and will start callig them in Feb when work slows down enough for me to actually go meet with them.

Have a great weekend ladies! :)

I went to Carter's today. I think it's an outlet store because everything is cheap! I got the boy 3 outfits! That place is dangerous. I can't believe I only spent $27. It was fun. I haven't really bought him any clothes yet.

I have already been baby clothes shopping already - Lets just say she already has about 15 outfits & 3 cute little dresses that I could not pass up the great deals at baby depot $3.88-$5.00 ea. (some were regular priced $10-$25 ea)

OH MY! I really hope this is still a girl when I see her next Thurs. ha ha ha If not he will look like a girl - Just kidding ... Only 6 more days til my next u/s (we will get a video & tons of pics) It can not get here quick enough.

Hope everyone has a great weekend

Clothing addiction- Keeping the sex a secret is the best decision we made when it comes to my shopping addiction. I typically bargain shop with my mom, and I can't buy anything with out revealing the sex. When I walk into a store by myself I have to repeat in my head, "You are here for _____... If _____ is not here you cannot justify it and Shannon will get mad" He'd really just roll his eyes, but I tell myself that he will get furious.

Yeah, So I went to Ikea and now I want to buy 1/2 the freakin kids department. They have so much cool stuff for kids!

Some of the girls at work told me not to get anything and if I show them what it is they'll make sure I get it for my shower! :rolleyes: I think they are off planning it right now. They want each department to have different gifts... So one will have toys, one will have furniture and buy one piece, another will have clothing... So on and so on.

Ultrasound update: We are having a surprise. It was very tempting to ask, but I held my ground. We got some great pics- unfortunately I'm horrible at using the scanner. I'll try and figure it out next week. Unfortunately, just as I was about to leave for the ultrasound, Mia decided to act 2 and pitch a huge fit. It was a 20 minute ordeal of getting her out of the house. When we got there, I realized I had only had one glass of water to drink. I quickly downed another bottle of water, but the ultrasound tech wasn't too pleased with me. I thought she was going to make me reschedule. Lukily my bladder was plenty full by the end of the test, and it didn't seem to affect things too much.
It was pretty cool to see the baby throw out an arm, and feel it at the same time. Maybe I have a little boxer in there.

Pregnancy Brain: Please tell me I'm not the only one. It's really bad. I was scheduled for a phone interview yesturday to start my doctorate degree. I completely forgot. DH, Mia and I were sitting at lunch when I remembered. By then it was way too late. The next appt they could give me isn't until March. How I could forget something so important is beyond me. If that's not bad enough, we planned to meet my parents and ILs for dinner last night to show off the ultrasound pics. My mom called and asked us to wait for my dad- that he would drop his truck off at our house and ride with us. That was 5 minutes before we walked out the door. Half way to the restaurant I remembered we were supposed to wait for him:eek: We turned around and pulled in right behind him. Needless to say, they're not going to forget these things for quite a long time. Just hope I don't forget where I live before this pregnancy is over.

No time for anything but to say...

Everything at the U/S looks great...there's nothing to worry about. Baby was moving all around (even though I still can't really feel it.) It's STILL a BOY, we definitely saw a penis there. And the heart was beating perfectly.

So, all is well and my baby is happy, healthy and growing like a weed. I couldn't believe the difference in size in just two weeks.

Thanks for all the well wishes, seems to have worked for us.

Have a great weekend everyone!

I'm aware of the time it could take for the furniture to come. I was planning on asking at both places tommorrow when we shop what the delivery time would be. Ideally, I'd like to have it picked out and order at the end of March if time allows, but if it has to be ordered earlier than what I would like, that's fine, it can be done. I'm hoping to be able to go with the actual furniture store rather than BRU, since I've heard so many bad things about them. Either way, I won't be ordering tommorrow, since I would like to know the sex first and have an idea about what the colors of the room will be before picking a stain for the wood.

Pregnancy brain: You are not alone. I spent this afternoon driving all over town because I forgot that I needed to go to two different banks today. I also needed to go to the grocery store and Walmart. There is an area where both banks and the grocery store are all right next to each other, but I forgot about the second bank. So I went to an area across town that had the one bank and the grocery store. Neither area was really that close to Walmart. I then remembered I had to go to the second bank and had to drive across town to that bank and then backtrack half an hour to Walmart. It was just how I wanted to spend my Friday afternoon.

hey everyone! not much to say here but I really don't like us being on the second page. . . and if no one stopped by tonight, we could be on the THIRD page tomorrow. and that's just unacceptable!

we bought our crib and dresser Thursday night. the crib is by Baby Dreams and cost just a little too much but it is convertable so that made me feel better. we picked white since our nursery is so so tiny, I thought dark wood would make it look bigger somehow.

anyway. . . only 2 days until my ultrasound!! I know I'm one of the last but I am still very excited! I just hope junior cooperates and shows us the goods!

hope everyone is having a great weekend.

I think I might be last! My u/s is 4 days away on Thursday. The past four weeks have flown by. I can't believe it. I'm so excited.

We picked out our crib (convertible) and a dresser (which will double as a changing table) yesterday, as well as a glider. They are Sheffield by Bonavita. We went to two different stores and they were at the first, so I have to go back this weekend and ask them some more questions about their policies, if they'll deliver to our house (we're kinda far away from them), when we would pay what, etc. I did ask about delivery time and the salesman said they pretty much had everything on the floor in stock and if there was any wait time it was normally very short, like 4-6 weeks. But can I believe him? I didn't ask specifically about the glider (Dutalier), but I'm sure that will take closer to 10-12 weeks from what I've read. I'm so thrilled with the designs of the furniture. I love the fact that this furniture can be used forever. Even the glider, which I plan to move to the sitting room off of my bedroom when it's no longer needed in the baby's room. That glider was amazing. I didn't want to get up when I tried it out. I was also pleased to find that while the prices at the store we're going with were only slightly higher than BRU, the quality was much, much better. We also have an armoire that goes with our bedroom suite that we may put in the baby's room. We bought two armoires when we got our bedroom furniture and we aren't using the second one very much. It is a very close match to the baby furniture.

I also picked up Baby Bargains yesterday, and I've almost read the whole thing. Now I understand why everyone raves about that book. It's great.

Thanks for all the positive vibes on our U/S...I feel so much better having seen him again and even this U/S Tech commented on how active our baby is...again, making me feel so much better as I'm still not feeling much.

I am incredibly sick with a cold and cough and spent Saturday night in Emergency...it's scary when you get sick while PG and can't really take anything. I suffer from bad allergies and asthma, which has been pretty calm since getting PG. But with a chest cold and visiting family with a dog, it really flared. I felt like I couldn't take a breath and couldn't stop coughing...so off to ER we went. And the real kicker about it, DH was away for the weekend, my mom had to take me (but thank goodness she was there, it was a long night.)

Feeling much better today, breathing a little better although still terribly congested and sore. I'm staying home from work tomorrow (and maybe Tuesday) and going to load myself up on Chicken Noodle Soup and water...hopefully I can shake this soon.

That's about it...

Shoulda ~ Thanks for rescuing us from the 2nd page (*HORROR*)

JBenny ~ Congrats on finding your furniture. That's great news that it's in stock, it definitely takes a load off your mind once that's done. I'm going to go this weekend and order our glider, hopefully it will be here before baby is!

Good luck to everyone who has U/S this week...it will be an exciting one waiting for all the gender announcements.

Last thought too ~ My sister mentioned that she couldn't believe she was going to be an aunt and I told her soon. Then I realized that 4 months as of tomorrow, my baby could be here (or sooner of course) but that realization really hit home...only 4 months!

maryanne Isn't BRU scary at first? The first couple of times I was in there, I just kinda walked thru really quickly. All of those choices terrified me. Now I've progressed to slowing down and actually looking at things. I think also at first, I felt wierd, like I didn't belong there or something, ya know? My DH was also in shock. I don't think I'll get him to step foot in there again!

Baby furniture: We have already bought the changer & dresser but still need to buy the bed & a glider. My ay- next u/s isn't for a week and a day- next Tuesday!

I had a little pre-motherhood practice on Thursday night- I had a little 5 day old 4 oz puppy get colicky- I never new puppies could do that!! So I had to rub his little tummy, and try to burp him, while the poor little thing cried and cried:( It was so pathetic. DH and I were up until about 2 with him, then he must have had a teeny burp or gas or something, because he finally just fell asleep. I told DH to get used to being up in the middle of the night!!

Good luck to all the u/s for this week!!

Sunshine – congrats on hitting the 20week mark. I’m just 2 days away from that milestone. It is hard to believe that my weeks remaining are almost I the teens. Before long we will be down to single digits.

Baby stuff – I went to BRU yesterday. There were some bedding and room décor items that I added to my wish list online that I wanted to see in person. After my visit I quickly made some changes. I really like the Vintage Fire Truck line of Wendy Bellissimo, but the bedding is too expensive for me ($299) so I’m going to register for some of the accent items. I picked up a red gingham lined basket and the sage gingham changing pad cover from the line to see if they match the current bedding in the room. The colors aren’t exact but are a good compliment. So, I added a few more of these items to the registry.

jcharley: Hope this week (and two days) passes quickly for you!
sunshineab622: It really has gone by so quickly. I sometimes can't even believe how far along we all are and how soon we will have our babies!
excitedbride: Congratulations for being at the halfway point! So exciting! I feel the baby up by my belly button most of the time, but I sympathize with you on carry low. My coworker carried that way her entire pregnancy and there was a lot of waddling going on at the end.
Kaeden's Mommy: I'm sorry the puking has resurfaced. Strangely enough, I was on the verge of throwing up last Friday after work. I hadn't felt like that in weeks and weeks.

Update: We had a great weekend--a good mix of fun and organization. We went out to dinner with friends on Friday night, out to lunch on Saturday with friends and then to Home Depot to pick up a few things, then--on a whim--drove up the coast and spent the day walking around a cute town and met up with a friend we haven't seen in years. DH and the friends we were with enjoyed a few drinks throughout the day and I joked I was going to get sick like those rave kids who drink too much water. We spent Sunday organizing. DH was in the basement for most of the day cleaning up his workbench etc. while I cleaned out the closet and dressers in the baby's room. But cleaning those out meant that I had to reorganize my closet and the closet in the guest bedroom. My muscles are sore today!

Congrats Pink…that is awesome news.

Although I really wanted a girl first, I am very happy about having a boy. I love looking at little boy clothes. There are surprisingly cute boy clothes out there. I’ve been calling our son Noah. Now I’m just waiting for DH to agree to it. He hasn’t vetoed it, so that is good. He is just thinking about it.

QOTD Has anyone picked out the coming home outfit for the baby? I know it is still early and we will revisit this question later.

Even though we know the sex, we are not telling anyone so we can’t rely on shower gifts since I want the coming home outfit to be gender specific (I think). I did find something in Filene’s that I like. It is blue and has dogs on it. It looks a little too big so I may need to find something else. It also has an onesie and I want to use t-shirts until the cord falls off. Infant t-shirts are hard to find. I did find some at BRU yesterday, but I didn’t buy them. Maybe I’ll go back this week.

Graffy – what childbirth book are you reading? I read Natural Childbirth the Bradley Way last year and recently picked up Husband Coached Childbirth, but have not started it yet. I also have Birthing from Within but haven’t read that either.

Hello All :D

I've been lurking everyday but just haven't had time to post. I have been thinking and praying for all of you though.

I'm doing so much better. I'd say I'm about 99% back to my pg tired, big self :D I went out on Saturday for the first time since I came home from the hosp. We went to buy tile for our bathroom (we're remodeling) and by the time we got home, I was exhausted :/ I also slept 3.5 yesterday. Not sure what it is about the weekends, but they kick my butt.

So yesterday afternoon the 3 of us are laying in bed and Brian says to me, "what about George"? I was very honest and said I don't like that name. About 2 minutes later he says, "what about Anthony"? I thought for a minute and WE HAVE A FIRST NAME :D Anthony!! Now all we need is a middle name. I had acutally been thinking Anthony Robert M, but Brian is dead set against using Robert. I also brought up Erlich again and he said no. So I was thinking Anthony Michael M. but not sure how that flows.
We're not telling anyone IRL but I know I can trust my SIL to keep it a secret so I'm going to ask her opinion.

So that's it in a nutshell. I'm now off to get something to eat. My new diet consists of pretzels and potato chips (at the same time, literally) and mac & cheese from stouffer's. Not the healthiest, but it's better than nothing.

Oh, I like Anthony. That will probably be in the running for us if we have a second boy ( lol! I still don't even know if we are having one boy, yet I am choosing my second son's name). It is Josh's other grandfather's name, so it seems fitting.

Would you use Andy or Tony as a nickname?

Pink I am so happy to hear your wonderful, reassuring news!!!

Nikosmommy congratulations on picking a name. I think Anthony is a great name and compliments Niko pretty well! I'm glad you are feeling better.

ds Noah is a beautiful name! You are so organized and on top of things! I did a ton of reading and prep with my first too, but I think you have me beat on the organization!

We have pretty much decided on Meredith Jayne. We are almost ready to share the name with family but not quite! We have started calling her Meredith though. Rachel sounds so cute when she says it.

However, now that I think of it, my moms first husband was names Tony so I'm sure she'll have something to say about that :rolleyes: And thinking more about it, I'm not sure if I like Tony :( Oh boy, I'm really confused now :( Brian is going to kick my butt :(

Lawyerwifemom – ME…organized!!! That is funny. It must be the excitement that has made me organized. I’m usually all over the place. I had suggested Meredith to DH, but it fell victim to his veto.

I’ve been on here quite a bit today. I’m extremely tired and this keeps me awake.

DS2003: Re: childbirth books, right now I'm reading "Ina May's Guide to Childbirth" (which has been fascinating and, if nothing else, has reinforced my belief that I really don't care to have an episiotomy), and Bradley and Dr. Sears Birth Book are waiting in the wings. I'm glad you mentioned Husband Coached Childbirth because that's definitely one I'm interested in. It's difficult because I live in a small town where doulas are unheard of, midwives have to come from at least an hour away, and most of the children have been delivered by one of 3 area doctors. I hope my ideas aren't totally foreign when I present them, but if they are, well I guess they'll have to deal with it. ;) I'm actually kind of excited to see what my body does during childbirth which is something I never thought I'd say.

ds2003
01-30-2006, 10:49 AM
Graffy – Ina May’s book is the next one I will get if I finish the other two I have. We had thought about a doula but decided to just take the Bradley Method courses and let DH coach me through the labor (check out www.bradleybirth.com). I’m looking forward to the birth as well. A co-workers wife had a natural childbirth with a doula. She didn’t take any natural childbirth classes, but the doula was enough to keep her focused. I think that as long as you have some one there to guide you and push back when meds are being suggested, you will be okay. I hope you are able to find a natural childbirth friendly doctor. I have the same fear of episiotomies. When I saw the diagrams I locked my legs real quick.

Okay. I really need to close the web browser now.

pink so delighted for you and healthly little one! i know its a huge sigh of relief.

nikosmommy glad u're feeling better and Anthony sounds like a great name choice. we have a friend called Anthony and he's a jr. so he goes by Anthony and his dad is Tony. Anthony sounds nicer :)

ds i love the name Noah. and gosh girl u really ARE so on top of things!

lawyerwifemom Meredith is such a cool name! are u naming her for someone?

**********

so i dont understand why it bothers people so much that we're not finding out the sex of the baby. i mean people can be so obnoxious about it. i've been so annoyed with friends lately, and saturday was no exception. i had a friend say 'well i guess u cant do anything for your baby until after it gets here'. ugh - it makes me so ill. i didnt know that babies had to wear just blue or pink!

as far as name choices - we dont have any yet, but i am so bummed that the one boy name that i love, dh refuses to use. its Cameron but it just so happens that i have a very dear friend named cameron and he doesnt want my friend to think we named the baby after him :o i just like the name though and it has nothing to do with my friend!

Lamaze-Is there much point in taking this if you are not planning on going natural? There is a one day class available but I'm not sure I want to take it.

Thanks for all the congrats everyone.

Shaq ~ Sorry people are annoying you. Babies don't have to wear only pink and blue - I think the variety is nice. Plus, the surprise is so much fun! DS had clothes in so many colors since we didn't find out until he was born. Just ignore them.

Pink ~ We did Lamaze last time and it wasn't worth it for us. I didn't plan on natural or drugs - just said I would decide at the time. A lot of people recommend the class.

Doula: ds2003, even if you are set on having your DH as your coach, I still think that it might be worthwhile to have a doula, especially if your insurance will cover it. Even though my DH was by my side the whole time, it was nice having someone else there to take a bit of pressure off of him. She went on got me juice or water when I needed it so he didn't have to leave, which was a big thing. The other thing is that even if your DH is highly educated, he's never been though it and a doula has and she can do things like adjust your pillow to the most comfy/useful position easily where it might take DH a few tries since he has to rely on you for feedback.

Pink, That is such great news!!

ds2003 and lawyerwifemom Noah and Meredith are great names. I really like the name Noah but DH already vetoed it.

shaq, I know what you mean about people being annoyed. We didn't find out with my DD and so many people got mad at us. When we told people that we were finding out this time they were all sighing with relief. Not sure what that's all about - just buy something with yellow ducks on it if you really have to!

pink, I think it is worth taking because it will give you some information on the labor process which can help you as you go through it. Also, you may be in pain before you can get an epidural or other medication and you will learn some techniques that wil help you get through until you can get the meds.

I tried to stay away…but I’m back.

Orange – we thought about a doula. I think DH is still considering one. I don’t think my insurance will cover one. Our friend who had a doula paid $750. I just can’t see us paying that. I may just see how things go with the class. If it looks like DH can’t handle it, then we may revisit the doula idea. Thanks..I think it is a great idea and if my insurance covered it, I would definitely get one.

Shaqangel – great belly pic. People can be so ignorant. SIL would call and whine because we were not finding out (telling anyone) the sex. You can have just as much fun not knowing and if you have a shower, you will not end up with a bunch of pink or blue clothes.

Lamaze – I don’t know what it involves. Some of the childbirth classes given at hospitals will cover procedures and policies for the hospital and what to expect if you need a c-section.. At the very least it would be could to get that information.

Pink_Converse
01-30-2006, 01:10 PM
See, I was thinking abou taking it just for the other information (meds offered, c-section infor, etc.), I didn't really think about using the techniques before the epidural. Makes sense. I think I will go ahead and take it.

So I hope everyone had a great weekend. We almost have the nursery set up for now! We still need to buy the remaining furniture and mattress, but it makes sucha difference having the paint and curtains up!

Names- The name Meredith is adorable, I really like it! I also love the names Anthony and Noah- It sounds like the cast of Grey's Anatomy! I'm not a big fan of Tony either but I love the name Anthony. I guess I'm just not big on the shortened versions of names. You'll just have to correct people if they call him Tony. When I saw the name Noah I fell in love with that name too.... I hate that you guys keep bringing up boy's names that I hadn't thought of! We're set on Collin now though so I wont be stealing anybody's possible baby names! :rolleyes:

QOTD- Is anyone else getting cold toes? Last night I had to take my shoes off to see if my socks got wet (Which they weren't) Today I have two pairs of socks on and my toes are still freezing and it's just in my left foot. I think I saw somewhere that it is common in pregnancy but not sure if I'm making it up.

Lamaze classes- We'll probably take them. I plan on getting an epidural but I think it will really help us with what to expect and also give me an opportunity to meet some other local moms.

IzzyJune2006
01-30-2006, 04:10 PM
pink I'm so glad the amnio ruled out those concerns! How exciting. Now you can relax and "enjoy" the pregnancy. ;)

QOTD I haven't noticed cold toes, but I've always been one to have cold hands/feet. I haven't noticed a change.

Babies and Colors One of the main reasons we decided to find out the baby's gender was to help with our preparations. I really do prefer to make things gender neutral but it's so hard. There really isn't that much neutral stuff at the store. I quickly learned that when I started shopping for friends' baby showers a while back. I was so frustrated. I think that things are improving though (maybe it's because I now live in a liberal state, who knows).

I have heard from both my sisters about people making negative comments when their daughters weren't dressed in pink. What is wrong with people???

Our Annabelle Rose (tentative name but I hope it sticks) remains a very active baby. I feel so much when she's up. DH has been able to feel her several times now. Yesterday, I even saw a bump on my belly when she was kicking. That was weird!

Thanks for the positive input on our name choice everyone! Lil_Mrs I really like the show Grey's Anatomy but that is not why we picked the name, if anything it was a mark against it because I don't really care for the Meredith character at the moment!

Lamaze or other general childbirth class I agree with Orange. I found the knowledge of labor, breathing, options, meds, no meds, etc very empowering. It also really helped my DH get involved and thinking. I did a LOT of reading, he did not. So the class was very educational and bonding for us. I knew I almost certainly wanted an epidural from the beginning and that didn't change but I am very glad I took the class. Also, our group still gets together once or twice a year even now that our kids are almost 3 and we are working on siblings!

pink Wonderful news! I'm so happy for you!

shaq It seems that people always have something to say. I'm actually getting the opposite. When I tell people that we're finding out the sex, they keep saying, "OH, don't you want to be surprised?" Well, IMO, it's still a surprise, whether I find out at 20 weeks or when the baby's born. It's also not like if I find out the sex, there won't be anything to look forward to when the baby is born. Like I said, people always have something to say.:rolleyes:

bellypics I think it's so interesting how differently people carry. Shaq looks so tiny, and my belly has been waaayyyy out for soooo long. I think she's even a few days ahead of me. I need to get a new belly pic to prove it.

childbirth classes I'm not sure yet.

cold toes Nope.

nikosmommy I really like Anthony. I don't care much for Tony either, but you don't have to go by a nickname, you can call him Anthony.

Mystikal: I love the name Julia. I actually have Juliet on my very long list of possible names (A friend of ours already has a Julia so I wanted to try and avoid using the exact same name).

Childbirth Classes: I took Lamaze the first time around. I didn't find it pro or anti anything. It just gave a lot of info about options and childbirth in general. It was interesting and ended up being a good choice for us.

Pink- What a relief. Now you can just enjoy pregnancy.

Finding out- People have had an opinion on our choice not to know the sex. I'd be so tempted to go buy a bunch of clothes if we found out. Since I have a bunch of gender neutral stuff from Mia, I figure I'd stick with what will save us the most money right now. The nursery is done in ducks, and I can focus on doing Mia's girlie room instead of a nursery.

Today was an odd day at work. We finally told my co-workers on Friday, so I broke out the maternity clothes today. They were shocked at what was hiding under my oversized shirts. Sometimes I look down and don't know how things can keep getting bigger.

Thanks, guys. I think the reason my mom suggested that name is because my dad is a Harley man (the motorcycle) and she thought it would "soften the blow" when we have the baby and he finds out he has a granddaughter. He's really hoping for a little boy. When my youngest sister was born he walked around in a pissy mood for almost two weeks because she was a girl. :eek: He loves her to death now, but there are no boys in my family. Either way, we are sticking with the name we chose. :)

mystikal i love the name u picked out! harley quinn, though nice, is very trendy. but julia edythe on the other hand is one of those timeless names.

jbenny u're right whether u find out the sex or not, people always have something to say.

my dh says he just cant understand what other people have to plan for when it comes to OUR child...afterall we're gonna have to clothe and feed this baby the rest of our lives and not just the first mth.

belly pics jbenny, its funny u think i'm small! i actually feel huge. but people still dont know i'm pg which is ok. but what gets old is when i get this comment all the time...'oh u're gonna be huge, u're so short and small that u're just gonna blow up and be huge.' mmmm....thanks. i'm having enough issues with my body changing as rapidly as it, pls dont make me feel worse!

Mystikal, I too thought of Harlequin! :p Good for you for standing up to your mom! :) Your dad will love Julia just as much as any other boy or girl! Julia truly is beautiful and feminine and what a nice reason to use Edythe :)

Just wanted to add a quick question...

Is anyone planning on making your own baby food once your child gets to that stage?

jbenny75
01-31-2006, 05:33 AM
mystikal I like Julia Edythe better than Harley Quinn also. Julia sounds more classic and your mom's idea is almost too cutesy. And I hope I'm not offending anyone here, but Harley is my cat's name, so I just can't imagine it on a child.

I'm pretty sure I've been feeling the baby the past few days. I wasn't sure at first, but now that I've felt it more than once, I feel pretty confident that it's the baby. I wasn't sure because it didn't feel like what I expected. I'm not sure what I expected exactly. I guess I've read that some people say it feels like "butterflies" in your stomach, so I was waiting for that. It actually feels more like little pops. I felt it with my hand, so I'm pretty sure it isn't gas!

jay&erinn

shaq: I wouldn't worry about your DH not feeling the baby move yet. My DH hasn't been able to yet either, and I looked back at my records from my last pregnancy and he couldn't feel anything until around 21 weeks, even though I could feel it from 16 weeks on.
By the way, I think you're very tiny. Not everyone gets huge (unfortunately I do:rolleyes: ). My boss' wife is only 5'1" and only looked about 6-7 months pregnant when she delivered at full term both times. And she's most certainly back in her size 2 pre-pregnancy jeans after about 6 weeks.

Baby Food: We made most of Mia's baby food the first time around. It was really pretty easy. I'm hoping to get a food grinder attachment for my stand mixer to make it even easier this time around.

Good morning ladies,

I hope everyone is doing well this morning. I have a midwife appointment this afternoon and I am glad about that! My usual paranoia has set in so I will be happy to hear the baby's HB this afternoon. I've been feeling movement but then I get paranoid again and convince myself it was gas. :rolleyes:

Mystikal, I agree with everyone else - the first thing I thought of when I saw the name Harley Quinn was romance novels. The name you chose is very pretty.

Homemade Baby Food We did this for our DD and are planning to again for this baby, although with 2 kids we'll probably be less enthusiastic about it. Some foods just taste nasty in the jar, like peas, but fresh they taste great. We made all these super-healthy, well-balanced baby foods for our DD (and she loved them!) but now she is such a picky eater. :p

Mystikal: Great name choice (much prettier/more classic than the one your Mom was pushing for)!

Movement: Jcharley, I wouldn't worry about not feeling movement yet. We are all different and will experience things at different times. I have been feeling movement for a couple of weeks, but it is more noticeable this last week or so. Now I'm anxious for my DH to be able to feel the baby. I can tell he is a little jealous when I tell him the baby is kicking up a storm.

sunshineab622: I forgot you get another U/S. That is so awesome. Enjoy it!

Finding out: This guy my DH works with is having a baby boy in May with his soon to be wife. When he heard we didn't find out the gender of our baby, he thought he should tell my DH that it was "stupid" to wait. Needless to say, the guy is an ass. :rolleyes:

I'm so tired and hungry and unmotivated this week. But, you know what, I shouldn't even complain. A good friend of mine is going through her third miscarriage (one prior to having her healthy son and two since TTCing again). It doesn't make sense...I know it never does. Sorry to bring everyone down. This is all weighing on my mind this morning. :(

Mystikal – I say stick with what you like.

BabyFood – I’ve thought about making my own baby food. I read a book on it last year. It doesn’t seem to require a lot of work if you already cook regularly. If you don’t cook regularly then it could be an inconvenience. We will probably do homemade food while at home, but if we travel we may use the pre-jarred stuff.

Shaqangel – I think you look great pregnant and have done a wonderful staying in shape. I hope that after this baby is born that I can get myself focused to lose the weight I’m gaining.

Jcharley – we all feel the movements at different times. It could be that you are feeling the movements but are thinking it is gas or something else.

Movement – For the last 2ish weeks I’ve felt the baby move everyday. Some days more than others.

I hit 20 weeks tomorrow and my next u/s is in 2.5 weeks.

Kegels reminder!!!

shaqangel & jcharley I don't think you should worry about not feeling the baby. I was chatting with my sister about it. She felt hers much later than I have been feeling ours. We figured it must have to do with the way everything is arranged in there. Her placenta was anterior and I believe mine is posterior (if I understood the orientation of the u/s correctly). So maybe the reason I've been feeling mine is because she's so close to the surface. Who knows!

It's a good feeling though (no hurtful kicks yet). Thought sometimes it's really weird when she's tickling my bladder (at least that's what it feels like).

Hi ladies,

Pink, I am so happy to hear the results from your amnio were good :p What wonderful news!

I feel like I am so behind everyone else. I won't have my big u/s until Feb. 13th and I don't think I've felt the baby move yet. I did feel "something" on Sunday evening, but haven't felt anything since. I will say, however, I am not always in-tune with my body so I could be missing the kicks.

My belly seems to be getting bigger every day. I went to a surprise bday party for my MIL on Sunday and someone actually asked me if I was sure I only had one baby in there:rolleyes: Hello... could you be any ruder? Geez.

We haven't ordered any of the furniture or bedding yet, as, I wanted to wait to find out the sex. So, hopefully I will order everything in the next 2-3 weeks. I will feel much better once that happens. Then, we will paint the nursery. So much to do.......

My bbs have been so sore lately... they hurt worse than they did during the first few weeks. My nipples (sorry, TMI) have been so darn itchy. Is anyone else experiencing this? And, I now have a slight rash on the tops of my bbs. I suppose I should call my doc, but I figure it's just from the skin streching. I hope it's nothing serious.

I hope everyone has a great day! :D

thank you kaeden's mommy, ds2003, amuprhy, and lil mrs. just like all of you said, NOW it feels real. now I can register, decorate the nursery, and shop until I drop!!!! I am way too excited over this!!! we have a lot of work to do on names. . DH really likes Finley but I think that's a little too masculine. expecially with a masculine middle name. our middle name is Burton which is a huge family name. Finley Burton L. . . too masculine?????

stevie- raising my hand for itchy nips. I have to put lotion on them a few times a day to keep me from ripping them off.

shoulda ~ Finley is too masculine for my taste, but that may be because I know a boy named Finley. Names = the hardest part IMO. I'm sure you'll find the perfect name!

Bbs – steviem – nope, my boobs are not itchy, but they are extremely dry…especially the areolas. They seem to be peeling. It doesn’t hurt, but it does look weird. I plan to ask at my next appt if I should put something on them. So far everything I’ve read has said not to avoid putting stuff on them. My nips are also dry and have these hard crusty things on them. It is like I’m leaking very slowly and it just dries up. I always want to scrape of the hard parts (I know this I TMI).

shouldaeloped: I don't think Finley is too masculine. It is an adorable name for a little girl!

steviem: Good luck at your big U/S. You must be so anxious! I haven't had any issues with my bbs lately...except that they are huge. :rolleyes:

I just got back from baby gap. Good thing I don't know the sex of our baby. We would be in deep trouble with all the shopping I could do! I was tempted to pick up a few things, but I can't justify spending money on clothes when I'm positive my Dad's wife already has a bag of newly purchased clothes to send me once the due date gets closer!

shouldaeloped congrats on your little girl. btw i like Finley too - i'm not sure but isnt Angie Harmon's girl named Finley (might be mistaken though). i do agree that Finley Burton sounds too masculine.

no itchy bb's but i do have an itchy back sometimes :rolleyes:

Amurphy – I know we will get lots of clothes, but clothes shopping is so much fun. I have to admit that most of the clothes I buy are for 6-9months and older. We will get lots of hand me downs. My sister has a 3 year old son and they are not having any more. DH’s cousin has a 9 month old son and it will be a long while before they have a 2nd.

To curb my clothes buying for this week, I decided to buy something that I cannot put on my BRU registry. I just went on the Lands’ End website and purchased the Do-It-All diaper bag and the Little Tripper diaper bag that I’ve been eyeing forever. I use to be able to find it in Sears but for the last few months they haven’t carried it so I decided to just pay the darn shipping.

DH and I may head to Ikea this weekend. There is a toy box/bench that I want.

For those who have registered or know what you will put on your registry,
How many items do you have listed?

Right now I have 39 items on my wish list and will probably add about 10 items of stuff that I can’t add online.

ds ~ Please let me know what you think of the Land's End diaper bags once you get them. I'm really interested in some of their bags since we need one for 2 kids now. TIA!

kaedensmommy - I'll let you know. I've read good things about the Do-It-All Bag.

I’ve eaten so much crap today, that I need to only have steamed vegetables for dinner tonight.

I've eaten badly too. I had a personal size pizza, a small bag of Rach Doritos and a Snickers. Plus, a Diet Mountain Dew. I'm so bad. :o My doctor did say a diet soda was okay here and there. Plus, it's good for me to eat junk sometimes since I'm still losing weight.

Hello All :D

Really quick post...

Sore Nips: There is this stuff called Lanisoh and it works really well. I used it w/Niko before I had him and during bf'ing and it is perfectly safe. The ped and lactation consultant both recomended it. Here is a quick picture.
http://www.amedababy.com/product_images/6-10075-17201-6sm.jpg

Movement: I remember w/Niko I didn't feel a lot of movement until about 21-22 weeks and they were only here and there. In the end however, he wouldn't stop.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I don't learn. I swore I wouldn't tell anyone the name we've decided on and I tell my friend and she has her comments. She did with Nikolas too. Why don't I learn?
Anyway, went to see the surgeon today and he said my scar is healing nicely. The appendix came back clear and free of any cancers, it was just a regularly bad appendix. He also said that before they opened me up, they tried to figure out the best place cause they know the scar will stretch with my belly and they wanted it to look as pretty as possible in the end. I thought that was very nice of him :)
That's about it. Need to run and do some stuff. Be back soon.
Question: Does anyone's stomach actually feel bruised in places? I have a spot about 2 inches to the left side and just below of my belly button that actually feels like it's bruised. It hurts to touch, but there's no visible bruise there. It doesn't feel like a muscle and a don't remember bumping my belly on anything. I guess if it's still there next week, I'll ask the OB.
shoulda: Congrats on your girl!!!
Nikos: For that reason, we didn't tell anyone our name choices the first time around. People have started asking already for this one too. At least I don't have to lie- we don't have a clue as of yet.
ds2003: Let me know how those diaper bags are when you get them. I've eyed both of them on their web site, but am hesitant to buy something without seeing it in person.
We bought a kids slide/storage thing at IKEA about 18 months ago. Mia loves the slide and I love that there are 2 deep storage drawers under it. Not sure if it's still there, but it's worth a look.
Strollers: For those Mommies working on baby number 2- have you looked at double strollers yet? Mia will be almost 3 by the time this baby comes, and I'm not sure if it's worth it. It's already a struggle to get her to sit in the stroller- I can't imagine in another 5 months. I'm looking at the sit and stand strollers, but would like to find one to see in person to see if it's worth it.
Breast Reductions and Nursing: I know there are a few others on this thread that have had reduction surgery and may try and nurse- I just can't remember who. I ordered the BFAR book and have started to read it. I wish I had it the first time around. Even though it goes over some things I learned through trial and error the first time, it would have been helpful to read instead of experimenting. I'm only 1/4 of the way through the book, but so far it was worth the money.
Well, I'm still alive after what was a terrible weekend. Thanks for all the well-wishes everyone, I really appreciate them, it's nice to know that others are thinking about me.
Thankfully my cough has subsided (for the most part) and I'm just dealing with the cold now. I will be heading back to work tomorrow, but let me tell you, two days off and I've been pacing the walls.
I went today and got my hair chopped...it feels so nice and I just needed a little bit of a pick me up. A nice hair cut always makes me feel better. I then went and ordered the last and most important piece (IMO) of baby furniture...THE GLIDER. This was a must on my list of wants and I've finally ordered it. But choosing the color for the fabric was the hardest part I tell you. The girl brought out the biggest binder of fabric swatches and there must have been at least 150 choices...hopefully I made the right one, but only time will tell.
Of course this is the one piece of furniture I'm really wanting now and they told me that the gliders (from Dutailer) have been taking at least 10 weeks for delivery...just my luck. But at least it's ordered.
Next on the list, cleaning out the nursery and choosing a paint colour. DH is planning (or I'm encouraging him) to start painting the weekend after next, to at least get it done. I'm so excited, we are finally making some progress.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Shoulda ~ Congrats on your little GIRL...the girls are definitely catching up.

Babylust ~ Good luck with your U/S tomorrow.

Pink ~ Just wanted to say THANK GOODNESS everything came back positive from your Amnio. That is wonderful news and I'm sure we've all breathed a sigh of relief for you. NO MORE WORRYING FROM YOU NOW!

It's funny, I was telling my mom about 'My June Mommies Friends' last week and she looked at me like I was crazy. I was talking about Pink and her Amnio and about how the Boy Mommies were beating the Girl Mommies and I think she thought I was off my rocker. I guess they just don't understand, but I'm thankful to be part of the group, that's for sure. You've all made my life a little bit easier while being PG.

I'm sure I've missed some replies and baby annoucements, and I'm sorry about that. I've been reading along, just haven't felt up to posting until now. So, I'm thinking of everyone, wishing everyone well and hoping for great U/S results in the next few days.

ONLY FOUR (4) MORE MONTHS UNTIL JUNE...YAY!

Have a great night everyone. Off to finish a load of laundry (no rest even for the sick) and iron one of DH's shirts for tomorrow and then off to bed for me.

See, I knew I forgot to respond to alot!

Jay&Erinn ~ I'm definitely feeling bruised lately, but I know mine is from all the coughing I've been doing. Can't say I've actually felt anything baby related about my stomach lately.

Boobs ~ Can't remember who asked, but wanted to respond. I started about a month ago using Cocoa Butter on my nipples every morning. I just started using the Lansinoh on Sunday. I've noticed that my nipples have become very sore (not peeling or cracking, still very soft) but have been sore to the touch. Not sure what that means, but thought it couldn't hurt to start with the creams now in preparation. Exactly the bottle that Nikos posted...I'll let you know how it works!

Names ~ So we've pretty much decided on a name for our little guy, although still planning to go into the hospital with several choices (just in case he doesn't look like the name we choose.) I knew I should have kept it a secret, but at the time I didn't care as I thought we were having a girl (making a mental note for next time not to tell anyone.)

Everyone LOVES the name we have choosen except for my mother...she absolutely HATES it and cringes everytime I say it. She associates it with an actor and just doesn't like it. Then she will suggest another name, not realizing that we are pretty intent on this name.

I've decided that I LOVE the name now (it's grown on me over the months) and I don't want to change it (unless he doesn't suit the name) and my mom is just going to have to learn to like it...or not associate with our baby. Her choice...hey, she had the opportunity to name three of her own kids, it's not her choice anymore.

Nikos ~ DH's best friend is Anthony and to be honest, we only ever call him 'Anthony' or 'Ant'... I don't think he's ever had the nickname Tony. I really think it's all in what you want and don't want, in terms of nicknames. My parents never, ever let anyone call me 'Kim' or 'Kimmy' and I didn't actually get 'Kim' until I hit high school...so you should have some control over it. I do like Anthony though, and think it goes really nicely with Nikolas.

Jay&Erinn ~ Which book did you order? I've been trying to get the 'Defining Your Success' in Canada and think I'm just going to have to bite the bullet and order from the US. I've heard some good things about it, and definitely think I need to read it. I've been trying to get through 'The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding' but find it very dry (and made the mistake of borrowing it with a novel that I really wanted to read, needless to say the required reading has gone by the wayside.)

I think Mystikal is another mom who's going to try BFAR...so there are a couple of us. I'm hopeful that it will turn out okay, but preparing either way. Let me know what you think of the book though, I can't wait to read it.

Have you ever attended a LLL meeting? I've been thinking about going to one, but I'm a little nervous about it actually. I think I'll try it, but still nervous about it.

Okay...that's it for me...enough for tonight.

MrsBrownie: It is 'Defining Your Own Success.' I ordered it off of Amazon's web site. I like it so far. It's broken up with a lot of personal stories and experiences, making it easier to read. It's really nice to hear other women's experiences, knowing how difficult it was at times for me. I've never been to a LLL meeting. I was worried that I would be treated differently because I HAD to supplement- Mia was still 9 ounces less than her birth weight at 2 weeks of age (and that was after breaking down and giving formula the night before her weight check). I wasn't sure the women would understand. Reading some of the book, it looks like it would have been a good idea.
It's funny- it mentions knowing options for herbs, pumping, etc before you run into problems. Boy do I wish I had the last time. It's so hard to research options once you're severely sleep deprived, hormonal, and panic-stricken over possibly starving your child. I'm definately trying to be more prepared this time around. I'm hoping it will make it more successful.
On your name choice- I'm sure your mother will have a different opinion once it's attached to a beautiful baby.

Nikos- Even though you can't control what kids will call your son, you can call him Anthony and not shorten it and always love your choice. A friend's son is Anthony (they also weren't thrilled with Tony). He's always been known as Anthony to family and friends that have known him a long time, but some of his friends now call him Tony (once he hit high school and college).

shoulda congrats on your girl! :D
Baby_Lust good luck tomorrow! I'll be thinking of you. Unfortunately I work till 7:00 EST so I don't know when I'll get in here. *sigh*

Movement I only feel a flutter here and there, and I was getting kind of worried, too. But then I tell myself that she was kicking up a storm during the u/s, so she just must take after her mommy and be short. ;)

Weight I'm gaining still. I think I've gained about 16 pounds so far (and that's not counting the four I put on at the beginning when I was away on business for four days and ate out a million times.) I'm trying to be better and got lots of fresh fruit and veggies at the grocery store Sunday, so with any luck that will help.

Brownie-I'm just dealing with the cold now.

Me too! I'm taking Claritin, today is day 2. I don't know if it's an allergy thing or what but this is what the pharmacist rec. and my Dr. has it on his list of approved meds so I'm trying it. I have that whole nasal drip down the back of the throat thing, ugh. My throat was so sore and I took one dose of that Tylenol sore throat and it feels so much better. Good thing, I don't think I could have drank that stuff more than once with my nausea and everything.

Hope you get over yours quick! And thanks for the shout out regarding my little boy, I appreciate it. No more worry coming from this girl, until he's born ;) . I'm a natural worrier, my Dad always makes fun of me and says I'm going to be overprotective, like I am about my dog :D . I personally feel i'm just a natural mother-er :D !

Sunshine-Cute belly pics! OT but my bedroom is painted the color of the room your in, I love it.

QOTD-Who is getting a glider/what kind/from where? I looked at BRU and Finger's so far and they are so expensive! Mom is supposed to buy it but I'm putting a cap on it and paying the difference because I don't expect anyone to shell out $399 for a chair and the $179 for the ottoman. Shouldn't they come together ????:mad:

Hi Ladies:

I am sorry I am soooo far behind.. work has been crazy but I have been keeping up on all of you…

Shoulda: Congrats on the girl!!

And congrats to anyone else who knows what their little peanut is!!

Lawyer: Great name.. Meridith… and I LOVE THE SHOW GREYS ANATOMY… unfortunately I always fall asleep.. 

Sunshine: GREAT PHOTO.. so cute!

Pink: Wonderful news on the amnio

Baby lust: Good Luck today!

QOTD: My feet cold… no more then they usually are….
QOTD: Bruising.. not so much..
QOTD: We have an old rocker that we are going to use.. Dh & I are big on old antique things so it is my great aunts rocker…

UPDATE:
MIL bought us our crib and dressing table which was super nice… and she wants to buy us our high chair

This is a similar highchair but ours will be unfinished and MIL wants to antique it for us
http://www.ababy.com/middel/278-2.jpg

And since we are limited on space we thought we would get a narrow cabinent called a "chimney cabinet"... so we can use it as the baby's closet/dresser ...... this is unfinished but DH will antique it...
http://www.millstores.com/photosql/13-201.jpg

As for bedding MIL (as you can see DH's family is very crafty) she is sewing a white eyelit dust ruffle for the white crib and I am just going to get simple fitted sheets... My mother and MIL have knited a few blankets so I might just use those to accessorize the crib when the baby is not it in it...

As for movement I can say baby B is moving around and last night was the first time he/she woke me up w/ its kicking... :cool:

Have a great day!!

I can't believe I'm 20 weeks already! And I can't believe that some people at work are just now finding out that I'm pregnant. One women stopped me in the kitchen yesterday to say she just heard the news. When I told her when I'm due, she couldn't believe that I'm so far along. It is strange since I see my naked belly and know how big it is yet I don't look that pregnant to other people. Oh well. I'm sure the belly will "give me away" soon enough.

A friend that I work with is 3 weeks ahead of me and pregnant with her second. So her belly is definitely more noticeable than mine. Anyway, she was cracking me up yesterday at a meeting because she was standing up in front of the entire company and her sweater wasn't pulled down all the way so the roll panel of her jeans was sticking way out. It made me laugh because I'm so parnaoid about the panel showing and she couldn't care less.

Weight: I'm sure that I'm still gaining. I finished putting away my non-maternity clothes this weekend and it was slightly distressing that most of the pants were very far from fitting me. The good news was that most of them fit my legs & butt...but the sides of the zipper were inches apart! :eek: That's okay. My maternity clothes suit me just fine.

Ryan: I love your decorating ideas for the nursery. I'm sure it will turn out beautifully.

sunshine: Great belly shot (and cute shirt)!

QOTD-Glider: I inherited a glider from my grandmother. It is currently in the master bedroom but I'll move it into the nursery once we move the twin bed out and the crib in. I just need to get a back cushion. We also have a comfortable leather armchair with an ottoman in the livingroom. I might opt to sit in that chair most often. I think it is a bit more comfortable than the glider.

20weeks today

Registry – we registered last night. It was fun. It ONLY took us an hour and 15 minutes. DH was pretty good. I had to pry him out of a glider, but most of the areas were quick since I had a list already. DH is still insisting on a video monitor and I don’t think it is necessary. Right now we have two monitors on our registry. I hope to convince him that we don’t need the video part.

Carseat – Although I still debating, right now we have registered for the Combi Center EX in Mango.

Strollers – I went for the Combi EX in Mango. I like how compact it looks…even with the carseat in it. DH is 5’11” and the handle height isn’t too bad. I can tell that a couple more inches would be more comfortable. We will probably only use it for short outings and outdoor gatherings. My family reunion is in August. This year it is being held in a park on a beach in VA. It will be a convenient spot to put a 6 week old sleeping baby.

Weight gain – According to the scale at home I am just shy of 15 pounds.

Sunshine – nice covered belly pic  I need to catch up with pics myself.

Gliders – we looked at them last night. If we get one we will get a Dutalier or a Sharmag (spelled somehow). I want one that reclines. If we get the chair and ottoman, I estimate it will cost between $600-700. Wow…that is a lot. We haven’t looked anywhere other than BRU yet.

Bedding/Room Décor – I added some stuff form the Vintage Fire Truck line. The woman at the registry desk said that based on that she would assume it is a boy. Because of that we are thinking of just buying the stuff ourselves. It is only 5 items (2 baskets, 2 frames and a changing pad cover). Nothing has a fire truck on it (I just like the colors) but the name could lead people to assume.

Diaper Bag – I’ll give my Lands End review once the bags arrive. I want to see how much I can stuff into it. I think the hardest part will be keeping it organized. I’ll probably end up getting one more bag. We will leave the Do-It-All in the car. The Little Tripper will be for short outings and then I’ll need a medium bag for daycare. I did see a couple at BRU that I liked. I’ll probably wait to add a diaper bag since I suspect the turnover on diapers bags is high.

Ryan – we went to an unfinished furniture store a few weeks back. We saw some baby room stuff that we liked there too. I had been leaning towards a toy chest/bench from IKEA, but you just reminded me of the unfinished benches I saw. I could get DH to stain it to match the other bedroom furniture.

Ryan- I love that chimney cabinet! Where did you find that? Everything you have looks really cute... Sounds like it is all coming together!

Sunshine- Love the belly shot! You look fabulous.

Gliders or Rockers- It wouldn't go with anything but I am thinking that we mioght steal my parent's black leather rocker and gliding ottoman. We may put that in the living room or our bedroom since it wouldn't match the baby room. It's funny, we are filling it up with all this baby stuff, yet the baby will be sleeping in our room for probably the first couple of months. And hardly see it's own room :rolleyes:

Strollers- We are going with a Graco. My mom is insisting on getting the Pooh one at Walmart but I have seen a couple of others that I like better that have some features that I like. Hopefully she will see that I am registered for those and buy one of those instead.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I can't believe I am half way through! Or how many of us hit our 20 week mark today.... That must have been one night in the CC world for all us to be due the same day!
So I wasn't feeling too well at all yesterday... I ate something the day before that really upset my stomach. I had those cramps that make you roll over in pain and went to bed at 8. The 11 hours of sleep must have helped because I am feeling a lot better today.
I took some pics of the nursery and some belly shots. I think I will have DH take a belly shot for my tonight, but I always pose weird when he taked them. We'll see which ones are better and I'll post the one I like the best
I am starting to think I should just use the old rocking chair I have and paint it and get a cushion and a breastfeeding stool to go with it. I can't stomach spending so much on a glider, tho I really want one...hmm....
http://a603.g.akamai.net/7/603/175/2006012712/cache3.jcpenney.com/images/large/0900631b80dba4beL.jpg
…. very plain.. I like a lot of plain stuff/old fashioned stuff...and for the crib sheets I might do Gingham fitted sheets (probably just light colors like green or yellow).. and for a decorative quilt MIL knitted a few nice quilts and blankets...
amurphy: I am with you.. I put bags and bags of stuff away this weekend.. so sad.. unlike you a lot of the clothes did not fit my butt and thighs .. I suppose that is where a lot of my weight is going… Dr. said last week I had gained 11 lbs and the baby was already 1 lbs.. so I guess that makes 10 lbs… for me…
DS: Don’t you just love unfinished stuff….. especially since you can get DH to do it all.. LOL.. jk..
Lil Mrs: I got the chimney cabinent (or I should say I will be getting it
from)
http://www.millstores.com/ majority of their stuff is unfinished and I cannot complain about the price….. and I hope you start feeling better!! GRRR... it will not let me post the website.. It is called the "The Mills Store"... if you go to Google and type in "THe Mills Store, CT" it should come up... let me know if you are still having issues finding the website...
PS SORRY THE PHOTOS ARE SO BIG...
Sunshine ~ Great picture...glad to see someone else posting them, maybe I will take another tonight and add it. I will be 23weeks on Friday and it's about time for another.
Jay&Erinn ~ I bit the bullet and ordered the BFAR book from Amazon last night. It will hopefully be here by the middle of next week and hopefully will be an easier read. In terms of the herbs to help production, do you have any idea when to start taking them? Is it something to think about now, or wait until baby is born?
Glider ~ This was THE most important thing for me and I finally ordered mine last night. I figured it was worth the expense, as I plan to use daily for as long as possible (nothing better than rocking a sleeping baby to sleep.) I purchased a Dutailer Glider from a specialty store near us (where we bought the crib) but opted not to get the Ottoman. I may go back afterwards and get it, but am not sure. I bought a glider that has what's called a Multi-Lock, it locks the chair into position (reclining, titling, etc.) and seemed more useful than the Ottoman. I may change my mind, but who knows. For now, I'm just thrilled that I've ordered my Glider and hopefully it will be here in 12 weeks. If you do order a Dutailer, be prepared for all the choices in Fabric...it took me off-guard and was stressful trying to choose one.
Diaper Bag ~ I received my OiOi diaper bag last week and am really happy with it. It was a little bit of a splurge, but I felt justified in it, as it wasn't that much more money than buying one at Toys R Us and it will be used every day for at least a year. I think I will have to buy a more masculine one (and smaller) for DH to use, and have been looking at the Eddie Bauer Messenger Style Black bag. I think it will work well for him for those times when he takes baby out without me.
Baby Bedding ~ I ordered my bedding off Ebay (as I couldn't get it delivered from Babies R US to Canada) at the beginning of January. It still has not arrived and there has been one delay after another. If it's not here in a couple of more days, I think Im going to FLY down to Florida and wring the guys neck...I don't know if I've every wanted something to come so badly. I was hoping to pick paint colours this weekend in prep for DH, but can't do it without the bedding. So frustrating waiting on someone else.
BH ~ I don't think I've been feeling them, mind you, I still don't think I'm feeling the baby move either. Someone said it earlier and it described me perfectly, I just don't think I'm in tune enough with my body to know what I'm feeling...hopefully soon though!
Strollers ~ My parents has offered to buy us a crib, but after all the drama with the crib, we decided to leave them out of the process. So my parents have casually mentioned that they will buy the travel system for us. If that's the case (and they mention it again) we will be getting the Peg Perego Pliko 3 system. A little more money, from what I've heard, but worth it in the end.
Ryan ~ I love that crib, it's GORGEOUS! I think it will look great with the cabinet you posted too.
Lil Mrs ~ (I think you posted about being sick.) I have actually been taking Benadryl (Allergy) which I find is a little more effective than the Claritin. It's actually rated a little higher on the acceptable list of drugs than Claritin. The only catch, you aren't supposed to take the non-drowsy kind. But I'm finding it very helpful with the congestion in my nose. I also learned that we can take Benylin DM for cough and Otrivin (nasal spray) for Stuffy Nose. I'm feeling much better today, but still only about 50% of my normal self. Hopefully every day gets a little better.
That's it for me...back to work today, but going completely stir-crazy at home by myself for two days.
Hope everyone has a great day and CONGRATS to so many for reaching the 20week mark today.
Braxton Hicks – not yet.
Pink – gliders – I would have never considered a glider had I not sat in one. That was a big mistake. If we get one, it will go in our room unless we can carve out a spot in the baby’s room.
Ryan – that’s the same place we visited. There in one in Manchester, CT like 5 min from our house.
MrsBrownie – I love the Peg Perego. I wanted one for a while. The strollers have great features. Even though it has an umbrella fold, the stroller itself it larger than what DH likes.
DS: TOO FUNNY that is the one we were at.. AND I am going there again on the 25th of this month because my best friend lives right near there in Durham, CT.
Mrs. Brownie: I am glad you like the crib... I was not sure at first but the more and more I see it I am very excitied about it. Also, I would love to see your diaper bag.. I love OiOi.. they have such cute things.. I think I might get a Kate Spade one.. (MORE then what I want to spend but I am a bag lover so I am willing to buy it).. and funny you live in canada... because my cousin lives there as well and I have her doing research for me on the Quinny Zapp.. w/ the car seat.... :):D
Braxton Hicks ~ Anyone else feeling these already? I don't remember ever having them when I was pg with DS, but I've been having them off and on for a few days. They suck.
Yes I started having them this weekend. I had a couple on Monday as well but not since then. My sister said that if you drink lots of water and get rest, they will be minimized. I really don't know much about them. I'm sure you have more experience. She also said that if you get them very frequently (several times per hour I think) it might be worth a call to the doc.
Since this is coming up for everyone, would someone care to post a good source of information about Braxton Hicks contractions?
Ryan: Awesome choice on the furniture. Unfunished furniture can be such a great deal if you have the talent to get the finish that you like. One suggestion though... that tall piece may be a little top heavy. I would strongly encourage you to fasten it to the wall. I had a friend witness a very serious toddler accident last week when the 3 yo pulled the tv off a cabinet and had his head crushed. Luckily he is fine now but will need lots of surgery. So don't forget to think about safety ladies!!! It will be a ways before our babies start getting in trouble, but we'll surely be so busy by then, we might as well take care of these things now.
Ryan: You have to let me know what your Canadian cousin learns about the Zapp and the car seat. We can ship the Zapp to my SIL who lives outside of Ottawa, but I'm just not sure if we are going to go that route because of the car seat issue. Looks like the Maxi Cosi is the only one that fits the Zapp, but I don't know how safe it is and I think it is really expensive. So now we are leaning toward the Combi EX for when the baby is an infant and getting the Zapp when he or she is older. Anyway, let me know what you find out!
sunshine great belly pic!
ryan great furniture...i love your bedding choice. i wanted to do cream eyelet bedding but DH wants a little colour - who knew men CAN be opinionated about this stuff :rolleyes:
Braxton Hicks none yet.
*****
i have to add that after my post about not feeling baby move i think that baby must have felt my anxiety cos lo and behold before the end of that day, i got a few thumps :D and yday they were much more and i can feel baby right now! DH still hasnt felt them cos every time he would put his hand on my belly baby would stop and when took his hand off baby would start kicking! but yday i actually saw my belly move! that was pretty cool :D
Shaq: How neat you saw your belly move...
Izzy: Thanks for the safety tip!
Amurphy: My cousin lives in Toranto... I will definately find out.. Yes you are right about the maxi cosi being the only car seat... I did a lot of research and they appear to be pretty safe.
http://www.maxi-cosi.com/
You can even find out if it fits your car... my cousins co-worker just had a baby and was telling me all about it.. but she also said we might look into the bugaboo.. which is WAAY out of budget... but I did ask my cousin to find out the price of ZAP, Buzz and the maxi cosi... so when I hear from her I will tell you.
Hello All :D
I was sitting down last night thinking how our son has so many internet siblings :) I hope everyone is doing good.
Ok, so I think Anthony is out :/ When I told Brian last night that I was going towards Anthony Michael he said that reminds him of Anthony Michael Hall :rolleyes: He doesn't like that, so I told him that we'd have to rethink Anthony then. So I went to Borders today and literally looked at every baby name book, going through just the N's to see what was out there, but didn't get any. I'm going to relook at the book we have. While I was there though, two names kept popping up, Sebastian & Gabriel.
I'm a very anal person and being we call Nikolas Niko and he has a middle name, this one must have a name that can be shortened (that we like) and a middle name. That is just anal me though :rolleyes:
Glider: I had got my mom & dad one in forest green a few years ago and then eventually got them the ottoman. When my mom moved she didn't have room for it so she gave it back to us. I really like it except the arms aren't padded so it hurts the elbows sometimes.
BH: I've been having them for a while now. The dr said they are common but wouldn't be as much as if I drank more :rolleyes:
Nursery: We've pretty much got everything. We're borrowing furniture from a friend here so Niko gets to keep what he has until he's ready for his big boy bed. Niko is moving into the office/guest room so that needs to be painted, but Niko's room is already blue so that's good to go. We got some Elmo border when we bought the house (this past Sept) and I was going to hang it, but found out we were pg and wanted to wait until we knew the sex. Now that it's a boy, we'll hang it.
Cold Feet: Also, not more than usual.
QOTD: Is anyone else having trouble getting comfortable at night? I literally spend at least an hour just trying to find that perfect position. No matter what I do, pillow, left side, right side, back, nothing, I can't seem to get comfortable.
I have my next 4 level 2 u/s's scheduled: 2/14, 3/14, 4/17 & 5/8. Other than that, nothing going on, except the name search, again :/
Have a good day everyone :D
Hi Ladies! Gosh, it's been a while since I've posted. I feel so behind!!
Braxton Hicks – I felt them the other night and it hurt like crazy. I thought I was going into labor or something. I had no idea what they were and then realized later it was BH.
If anyone is interested, here more info from Babycenter: http://www.babycenter.com/refcap/pregnancy/childbirth/156.html
Glider – I doubt we’ll be getting one. We didn’t have one with DS, so I don’t think we’ll need one this time around either. It’s definitely nice to have though.
Baby Bedding – I’m really digging this one by Wendy Bellissimo for our little boy because it’s not too babyish.
Only thing is it’s $399 for the set. Ouch! I will more than likely buy it off E-bay so it will be cheaper.
Do you think this would look OK on a white crib?
Vintage Fire Truck Crib Set
http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B00067TAI0.01._SCLZZZZZZZ_.jpg
Weight/Eating – I’ve gained like 9 lbs already. This really bums me out b/c I really only wanted to gain 15-20lbs at most since I was already on the heavy side to begin with. Doesn’t help that I’m stuffing my face with junk either. (As I chomp on my Svenhard’s pastry….hehehe) :o
Getting Comfy at Night: I too am having problems getting comfy at night. I woke up last night at 1:30am and couldn’t get back to sleep until about 3am. No matter what position I’m in, I just kept tossing and turning. I really don’t like sleeping on my left side either.
Registry – We have 39 items on our registry so far. Over the weekend, we went to BRU and I picked this up for the baby, even though we already registered for it. I know it’s silly for me to buy it so early, but its the only thing that I really, really want. I've already bought 2 for my friends who had baby showers and since then I've been dying to get one. Guess I’m just paranoid that it’ll will be discontinued or something. If we end up getting one at our baby shower, I’ll just return the one I got. ;)
Baby Shower:
Speaking of baby shower, I’m already starting to think of how I want to design my baby shower invites. Yes, I am making my own invitations, because I’m anal like that. ;) (I design invitations and cards on the side, btw) I’m going for a baby blue and chocolate brown theme. As soon as I confirm the date with my parents, since they are throwing it for us, I will start the planning process. I can’t wait! :D
Shamocha ~ That's the bedding I had my heart set on if this one was a boy. I think it would look great in a white crib. The contrast of colors would look nice.
Izzy – thanks for the safety reminder. I will need to keep that in mind while we finish up the room and baby proof the house.
Ryan – I will have to look up Durham, CT, I don’t know where it is. I’m hoping that the weekend of the 25th is when my parents will be up to deliver the baby furniture.
Shaqangel – congrats on feeling the baby move. My lil’ pumpkin has either been quite the last couple of days or has moved and I can’t feel all the movement.
Comfort at night – I don’t have a problem initially falling asleep. I just have trouble staying a sleep and when I wake up I have problem falling back to sleep.
Shamocha – I love the Vintage Fire Truck Set. I won’t get it because it is too expensive and too boyish (I want gender neutral), but I do have some of the accent pieces since they match the stuff I have so far. I think the Papasan seat you picked up is the newest version by Fisher Price (there was a different one last year). I doubt it will be discontinued anytime soon. We registered for it too. Thanks for the homemade baby food link.
Baby Shower – SIL asked me what I wanted this past weekend. I told her that since she is throwing it, to do what she wants. All I said was I don’t like a bunch of babyish stuff like cutesy games, hats, etc. I don’t like to get involved when people plan stuff for me. If I need to control everything then I should throw the shower myself. Shamocha – hope the invite turn out well. I thought about doing my invites too.
I apologize that I keep popping in and replying only to Ryan but I only have time for drive-by posting today. In any case, Ryan, the Zapp can be purchased at Sears Canada (and through the Sears Canada Web site if shipped to an address in Canada) and is $199 Canadian. Go to http://www.searsbaby.ca and search for Zapp.
Can't believe I'll be 20 weeks (halfway mark!) on Saturday, and that so many of you have already reached this milestone. It's really flying by now~
I'll try to catch up with all the QOTD's first:
glider We decided on a Dutalier - white with a soft green fabric. Opted for the ottoman too. Sooooo comfy!
stroller We just picked one out this past weekend andput it on the registry. Fell in love with the Peg Perego Pliko P3. We decided on the toffee color since it's neutral, yet not boring, and are pairing it with the new Graco SafeSeat in Roxy, should we need to use it like a travel system in the early months. The umbrella fold, weight and steering were the biggest factors in our decision. I'm hoping we'll get plenty of use out of it to justify the hefty price tag.
Speaking of registry items, we have about 19 things on there right now and plan to go back this weekend (and possibly the one following) to finish up. We started by trying to get the big things on there - stoller, car seats, swing, pack n' play, bouncy seat, etc. - but it seems like there are a million little things the little one will need. I'm now obsessed with baby bath tubs! :)
No extra cold feet or tummy soreness for me. Starting to feel more movement, though, which is so wild.
[shamocha I picked the same bouncer as you and adore it. I hope they don't discontinue it! That would be such a shame.
shouldacongrats on your girl!
ryan the vintage nursery sounds adorable. great picks so far.
FP Papasan Bouncer ~ The one Shamocha posted is the brand new model that has only been out for a few weeks. I'm sure (99.9%) that it won't be discontinued as the Aquarium bouncer and the Papasan are HUGE sellers for FP. Hope that sets minds at ease. :)
Another Question ~ Has anyone started with Stretch Marks yet...and if so, are you doing anything about them?
I lost a bunch of weight in September, just before finding out we were PG and ended up with two smallish (like an inch long) stretch marks on my Pouch (belly.)
About three weeks ago I started with one really small mark, coming from the initial one, and it has since grown into a spider web. I've been using Cocoa Butter and Belly Butter since about 10 weeks, but it doesn't seem to be doing anything.
I've also noticed a couple starting on the tops of my BB's too, which I'm definitely not happy about. I know they are expected, but can I do anything about controlling them?
Has anyone else started to get them yet or am I the only 'Lucky' one?
kmmommy
02-01-2006, 02:09 PM
Stretch marks ~ I have stretch marks from last time that have faded. No new ones yet this time around. Stretch marks on my BBs really bugged me too, but I have no idea how to stop it, especially once your milk comes in and you're engorged.
ds2003
Stretch marks– so far I have no new ones. I have others that I’ve always had. I’ve read that you really can’t do anything about them and keeping your skin moisturized might help.
MrsBrownie
02-01-2006, 02:51 PM
That's what I thought about my lovely stretch marks...I guess I'm just going to have to live with it.
I have been moisturizing every day, but I don't think it's doing much...mind you, I wonder what I would have now if I hadn't been moisturizing regularly. On second thought, not something I want to think about right now.
Another Question ~ Has anyone started with Stretch Marks yet...and if so, are you doing anything about them? I have faded old ones from being preg the 1st time & being a plus sized girl. I do not have any new ones ...yet!
My back is really hurting today :( I have a mostly sit down office job - I try to get up and walk every 30-45 mins. Anyone else getting back pain during the day?
I know it is cause the u/s tomorrow but I kept having bad dreams that they are going to find something wrong ... Keep us in your prayers that everything will look ok & that the 2 "markers" (brain & bowels) for downs are NO where to be found.
Kaeden’s – Thanks for your input on the crib/bedding. And thanks for the info on the Papasan. I knew I was just being paranoid. ;)
DS – Isn’t it cute? (the vintage fire truck set) But yes, it is very expensive. The bedding we got for our DS#1 is more neutral, so we’re going more boyish this time around. Hopefully I can find it cheaper on Ebay or something.
Ffanel – not to worry about the Baby Papasan being discontinued. (See Kaeden's note) I didn’t even realize the one I picked up is the newer model. I blame it on prego brain! :o
Sunshine – saying a prayer for you and for a healthy little girl.
Stretch marks – I still have my old ones from before that have since faded. Haven’t picked up any new ones yet. I’ve been really good in using my Palmer’s cream twice a day (unlike before).
Back pain – yes, mine normally occurs around 2pm or so. I also have a desk job. My pain is mostly in my upper back though. I try to sit up as much as possible and stretch ever hour and that seems to help.
Lil_Mrs_0702
02-01-2006, 04:48 PM
shamocha- I love the fire truck bedding. I saw it a while ago while I was at BRU and thought it was the absolute most adorable lil boy bedding! I think it would go great with the white furniture. I also registered for that papasan. It is just so cute and so soft. I wish they had one in my size!
Falling asleep- I have a hard time staying asleep. Last night I kept ending up on my back and then I tried to prop my pillows up so that at least I would be elevated and then I would wake up on my side with sore shoulder! I found one position that I like my pillows but then I did laundry the next day and can't get it back how it was!
Registry- I am so bad! I keep finding toys and registering for those! I can't help it. I have 100+ something coworkers so I want to register for small things that will be fun to give. I hate when I see a registry and it's all $100+ top of the line crap that they realize that they won't need. Also since we won't be discussing the sex I need to find things to replace all the little outfits we will be getting. We're getting enough of those hand me downs from a friends of mine. I think it already has an entire wardrobe until it's 2 or 3! I may start buying her outfits to hand me down later so I feel like I'm contributing!
Braxton Hicks- I was wondering if that is what I was feeling this weekend. Still not sure what they are suppose to feel like. It would make sense that I would get it on the weekends. I drink 80+ oz of water a day through out the week and have a glass if I'm lucky on the weekends.
Stretch marks- Unfortunately I have them on my bbs. They are really bad. I have tried cocoa butter but from what I read it is under the skin and basically like rubberbands breaking so the creams don't do anything to help. For those of you have had them in the past, how noticeable are they after they "fade" I'm scared that I am going to have this ugly network of white scars all over my chest after it is said and done. I guess just one of the down sides to my new rack!
So what's everyone doing for the Superbowl??? It's our home team (Seahawks) so we will be out somewhere celebrating... A couple of the guys at work are having parties, not sure if I'll be up to them.
