Hell All :D
Welcome to our newbies!! Astlrdec your due date is my DH's birthday. I would have loved to have a baby on that date, but I'll be induced in May so that won't happen :/
The chart says girl for me :D A few people (including the dr) think it's a girl so we'll see. I can't wait until the 9th to find out. It was right for Niko.
orange ITA, I think the second pops earlier than the first. I looked at pix from Niko and I was about the same size at 18 weeks with him. However, I was smaller at 12 weeks with Niko than I was with this one.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This weekend was uneventful, sorta. I had to go to the post office on Sat to get a package in the mail for my family in VA, we're not going home for the holiday. Surprisingly I was only in line for about 20 minutes. I then stopped at Taco Bell and had a nacho bell grande minus sour cream, green onions & the meat. The lady looked at me like I was crazy, but I still can't eat meat, I'm allergic to onions and don't like sour cream.
I came home and did some cleaning.
On Sunday we got our tree, finally, and put that up. I decorated it and that was a challenge. Niko wanted to touch everything so I could only put non breakables on it, which now I realize is easier cause I won't have so much to take down :D
I got up this morning with energy that I have no idea where it came from. I made the bed, cleaned the kitchen, started laundry, finished the tree, straightened up the living room and I'm still good to go. I still have to see what other Christmas decorations I feel like putting up and more laundry. I also have more maternity clothes to hang up.
Now if only I keep not get so out of breath when I'm doing all of this, I could get it done right away :/
Hope everyone has a good day.
Gender chart says girl for me.
My neighbor (who claims that she's always right) says it's a girl. She says she can tell just by looking at my face.
I'll admit, I've been sensing girl, but trying to really downplay it because of the overwhelming # of boys in both families (I have 6 brothers, 7 nephews, 1 niece, DH has 2 nephews).
eta - welcome new mommies! astlrdec - we share a due date!
Gender chart says boy for me and I've actually been having some boy intutions as well, even though my original guess was girl. Both DH and I kind of want another girl so I hope it is wrong but I'm sure there are all kinds of joys to be had with a boy as well so we'll be happy no matter what. Less than a month until we (hopefully) find out!
Jesvet - I remember you too... I've seen you a couple times here and there on LJ as well -- and I thought you just HAD a baby! And now you're on to #2...how did that happen?!
How did that happen? Well, if I need to spell it out.... :D
Hello, all!! As usual, I've been MIA, but congrats to the new mommies! We find out today, kind of, what the sex is. We're waiting a few days until my sister gets here to open the envelope. The gender chart says girl, but I think boy, AND it was wrong on DD. So, who knows!
I have to get back to work, but I hope everyone is feeling great today!!
Well my instincts tells me it's a girl and that is what the gender chart says as well. Both my parents and my DH also are convinced that this one is a girl. I guess we'll find out when it arrives. That reminds me that I have to tell my mom not to tell the family that we think it is a girl.
I forgot to tell her not to say anything about the names when we told her that she could share the news and now everyone is criticizing the names- Mostly because my mom eggs them on. She doesn't care for our name choices (That's what we get for being creative). I'm a little pissed, but I should have reminded her not to say anything.
Well I stopped vomitting and had my sister take me Christmas shopping for DH and I got all but one thing for him. And I could not find any I love Daddy stuff at Target. I may have to hurry up and order something. Oh and when I got home there was a package on my doorstep to BABY OURLASTNAME from my Grandma!!! I can't wait til Dh gets home so I can open it. I bet she knitted something! :D
so, what is the approx. breakdown here of 1st pg's to 2nd or more? Are we about 50/50 here?
Question for the second-timers -- are you finding that this pg is very similar or very different from your previous one?
Today I am 14 weeks, so I really am in the 2nd trimester, no matter what way you slice it... and for me, so far, it's been very different.
1st: Really bad m/s early on...then became 24/7 nausea for the remainder of the pg, to the point where I had to take meds right until the night before he was born to keep the nausea in check
2nd: Little bit of ickiness from weeks 5-7. Occasional ickiness since then, but it's totally easy to deal with. No throwing up; just some food/smell aversions from time to time
1st: felt nothing "growing" in the first trimester.
2nd: Had a/f-like cramps for about 3 weeks, starting the day I found out we were pg. Then, several weeks of feeling things stretching out inside me.
1st: felt movement starting at 13-14 weeks. Sporadic; only once every 7-10 days until much further on
2nd: felt movement at 13 weeks as well. However, this time it's once or MORE each DAY... One time on Saturday it was SOOO strong -- it felt like the kid did a cartwheel in there! It really caught me by surprise! (FTR: it was definitely not gas!)
1st: didn't gain an OUNCE until after week 20.
2nd: was 8 lbs up at 10 weeks (lol, I think the Dr. has a faulty scale!)
1st: would literally NEED to fall asleep at work for a 5-10 min refresher, usually about an hour after lunch, esp. in the first trimester
2nd: have been tired but have not yet had the strong urge to put my head down and sleep
The only thing that has really been the same is the heartburn - I'll go a few days without it but then it comes back, and it KILLS me. Oh, and the greasy hair/bad acne stage that went from about week 10-16 last time. I hope that stage passes at 16 weeks last time, b/c I'm tired of this horrible acne and stringy hair!
PinkCOnverse-Ruby is a play on my last name, but I work in a Pediatric practice and we have a couple Ruby's. I think it's a cute name.....
LindsaySD-You have SOOOOO much willpower, it could never hang on to that envelope for days without looking!
Hi ladies,
I hope you are all well.
I had another u/s last Tuesday. It was amazing to see how much the baby has grown.... looks like a tiny little person, moving all around. Dh and I were utterly amazed. The u/s was to check for Down Syndrome (nuchal fold test) and I also had to get my finger pricked. So far, everything looks good. We were so relieved.
I then went for my monthly OB appointment on Friday and I heard the baby's heartbeat for the 1st time, although we had seen the heartbeat before. It was so neat to actually hear it. The doc says everything looks good so far. I was surprised to see I had only gained 3 lbs. I thought for sure it would have been more.
My next OB appointment is scheudled for Jan. 11th. I will have to wait until my February appointment before having the "big" u/s to find out the sex. Dh and I are convinced it is a boy. I even took the "necklace test" this weekend and it said a boy. I guess only time will tell.
Still no major symptoms other than occassional heartburn and I have been peeing up a storm! My stomach is definitely pooching out a bit, but not enough for people to know for sure that I am expecting. I am looking forward to officially looking pg and not just pudgey :D
That's all for now.....
Happy Holidays to all!
Thanks for the welcome everyone! It's exciting to be part of a pregnancy group and have others at a similar stage sharing how they're going. :)
I go to the Birth Centre today for my first appointment. I'm very excited and hope that the visit confirms that this is a great option for delivery.
Anyone else finding that their nausea has kinda come back? Mine went away around 10-11 weeks but now if I get very hungry or very tired I feel queasy. I really have to make sure I eat regularly but my stomach has shrunk!! Lol....it fills up WAY too fast!
Astlrdec -- I know I'm late, but welcome! I'm glad you found us. :) I know what you mean about the nausea. You'd think I'd know better by now, but when I let myself get too hungry I start to feel sick. It just happened last night, and I had to have DH bring me something to eat. I also have trouble eating much at one time. Frustrating, isn't it?
Good luck at your appointment!
To those who have to pee all the time, that seems to be happening to me more often now. I'm okay during the day, but I get up multiple times during the night to go.
Welcome new mommies!! astlrdec How weird! My name is Rachel, too, and our babies are both due five days after our anniversaries! :D Neat!
Gender chart says boy for us, and that's the feeling I'm having, but I don't know if that's just because there aren't really any boys in my family and I know my grandparents would love a boy baby to get to play with before they pass away. I would love to be able to do that for them.
I'll try to post a belly shot tomorrow. I think I may have something to show. :D
Gender Chart Mine says girl. I think it was wrong with Mia though, but I can't really remember. Two people have told me they thought I was having a girl so far.
Pink_Converse: I also love the name Ruby. I don't think it's too old fashioned. Think of all the Sophias running around now.
Lil Mrs: We didn't share names the last time around just to avoid the negative comments. I think it's much harder to say you hate a name when a cute little baby face is attached to it.
Well, nothing new to report at this point. No news is good news in my department. Just looking forward to my next appt on Jan. 10th. After that, we'll start telling everyone. I'm both excited and scared for that time to come. It's hard hiding something so important to me, but announcing it will make it so much more real.
Third pg for me. 2nd baby. My m/s this time around was much worse then with my first pg. This pg so far have been no complication's. I spotted around 8weeks with my first. Also had pre term labor, ended up having my DS 3 1/2 weeks early. Hoping that this one stays in for longer! Oh and the acne is worse this time around too!
Welcome to all the newbies!
I have a UTI. Ugh. I started taking my meds on Friday, I still don't feel any better. Thankfully I have an appt. tomorrow.
Forgive all my postings but we had our first midwife appointment today at the birth centre and we heard the heartbeat!! :D I started laughing when the midwife put the doppler on my belly and found the beat. She told me I wouldn't be able to hear the beat if I kept laughing so I tried not to but boy was it cool. :cool: We even heard it kicking a couple of times!
Very happy with our decision to go the birth centre route. It seems so friendly, down to earth and not at all hospitally even if it is on the same level as the normal labour and delivery wards...and the ability to labour in a tub sold me. :)
Welcome to all the new mommies!!! How exciting! I wish you the best of luck...
OK, I can't remember who brought it up, but can we talk about acne for a second? Good grief, I look like a friggin teenager!!! I thought pregnancy was going to give me this beautiful glowing skin, but at the moment I'd feel more comfortable going out with a bag over my head. Between the acne and my large bottom, I'm just feeling hideous these days. So much for being a cute pregnant lady!
So, my question is, is there any way to treat acne while pregnant? My OB told me not to use any over-the-counter acne stuff (cleansers, toners, etc) with salycilic acid or benzol peroxide. OK, so then, what's left? Anyone else having this problem?
Second pregnancy (and 2nd baby) for me and things are pretty much the same as last time. I defintiely felt a little more nausea and fatigue this time, but I think that has a lot to do with the fact that I have a toddler at home rather than the pregnancy being different. I had some first trimester spotting the first time but none at all this time. I also seem to be gaining weight a little more slowly as well, but I didn't keep track closely before so we'll see as time goes on.
So my boss came into my office yesterday and told me that people have been asking him if I'm pregnant, so I guess it's time to get it out in the open at work. I'm glad that I told my boss before he started hearing it elsewhere but I'm sorry that I've put him in an awkward position. I'm going to go talk to HR today and then hopefully if I tell a few people then word will just spread.
Welcome to the new members!!
acneI'm having the acne problem, too, but then I always did. I have had one big problem come back, though that has been gone quite awhile. I think it's from wearing a mask at work all day long (I work for a dentist), but I get this red rash around my mouth- mostly on my chin. Even though it looks like a rash, my dermatologists have always told me that it's perioral acne. I don't care what it's called, it's hideous. I was planning on asking my dr. at my next appt. if it's even worth it to go to the dermatologist. I don't know if there's anything I could use right now. I always had to take tetracycline and use a topical cream to make it go away. I've also been using Neutrogena Oil Free Acne Wash, I haven't heard about not using anything with acne-fighting ingredients. I think awhile back someone posted a pic of the acne wash as something that was safe to use. If I have to stop using that, my skin will get even worse. UGH.
I had my first pregnant emotional outburst. Here's a post from my journal:
We had to go to a Christmas party last night. What a mistake, I should have stayed home. I was tired to begin with, and all day all I could think was, "Who has a party the weekend before Christmas? Don't they know people are busy?" So it was okay, but by the time 1 am rolled around, I was about 4 hours past my bedtime and getting pretty tired. I had been up at 7 am, trying to get a bunch of house work done. Then I had to fight the crowds at Super Walmart to do my grocery shopping. I kept forgetting things on the other side of the store and had to push my 300 lb cart back and forth. My ass was kicked after that shopping trip. I still had to come home and make dinner before the party because they were only serving appetizers. So by 1 am, I was about done, and of course I was the DD and still had to drive 45 minutes home. My first pregnant, emotional breakdown was imminent. This drunk jerk came up to me and said, "What the hell's your problem tonite? You're a real stick in the mud." I politely told him that I was tired, then he continued to give his educated opinion that I was only four months pregnant and that was no excuse. Jerkoff. I lost it and told him to kiss my ass. I went out to the foyer and sat on the steps by myself, and DH followed me to see what had happened. He was being soooo nice to me about it, that I started crying and couldn't stop. He said we could go home, and I usually have to drag him out, so that was impressive. I guess I was so upset because I was so tired and cranky, plus I usually love to get a great outfit for a party, have a few drinks and have a good time. But I was fat, nothing would fit me, I hated my outfit, and I had to sit there and deal with a bunch of drunks while I was sober. Not a good night.
I haven't been around too much, cause I haven't had much to share. It's been pretty uneventful for me lately, with the exception of the crying jag on Sat. night. I hope that an easy pregnancy doesn't mean a hard labor or extra-challenging baby!!
jbenny:I'm so sorry to hear about your bad night. I would have had the same reaction. I hate feeling gross in my clothes...and I can't stand dealing with obnoxious drunks (especially when I'm sober).
I really don't know how those of you who haven't shared your baby news are doing it! Beyond the inability to keep a secret, I think people at work and my friends would be really suspicious at this point. I'm wearing a non-maternity skirt today that don't have buttons or zippers. I think the "smooth" front makes my belly really obvious so I'm expecting some questions from people at work that I haven't told directly that I'm pregnant.
Acne: My skin is going to phases. Last week it looked pretty good. This week I have THREE pimples on my chin. Gross.
Daycare search: I've started looking into daycares. We are hoping to put the baby in daycare only two days a week, but it could be three or four depending on how our work responds to our requests to work from home. I can't believe how expensive it is! The average, for 5 days a week, at a center is $300. I have two centers on my lists to check out--both of which were recommended by friends. And my coworker is asking her daycare provider, who belongs to a network of providers who care for children in their homes, for suggestions. It is daunting. Has anyone else started working on this?
jbenny- I thought I was reading something that I had posted when I read this. hysterical! I had the EXACT experience at DH's Holiday party 2 weeks ago. granted, it wasn't the weekend before Christmas, but I was fat, hated my dress, DH got loaded and I was sober and irritated!!!!! I'm sorry to hear you had a bad time but glad to know I'm not alone in the miserable holiday party experience.
daycare- we have good friends that live right down the road from us with an 18 month old son. he has been in a baptist church day care since 12 weeks and they have had a great experience. all the providers double as babysitters and since we don't know that many people here, it will be a great resource for us. we have already toured the facility and will definitely be using it once the time gets here. I think the cost is close to $185/week. so pretty cheap too. I feel pretty fortunate in that area.
I am having a clothing crisis. I think I have 3 pairs of pants that fit me and most of my shirts and sweaters are hugging my belly. since I've never been a hug anything type person, we are going on a shpping spree tonight as soon as I hear the heartbeat at my appointment this afternoon. I just want that peace of mind one more time before I jinx myself with a whole pregnancy wardrobe. I do have to say though that I am pretty excited.
Good morning ladies
Amurphy: I do know that daycares can be really expensive... I am sorry you are going thru that...:(... I have my fingers crossed.. my mom said by June was going to be working part-time... and if she does that I will be working part-time as well and I am hoping the days I have to work she will not be working... and can watch the baby.
Acne: Mine comes and goes...
Jbenny: Sorry you were feeling so terrible.. I know how you feel ... here is something that you can appreciate. DH's SIL, her and I are very different people and she has a habit of saying whatever comes to her mind. Well SIL & BIL already have 2 kids... we were at a xmas party the other night and SIL (who is so comforting :rolleyes: ) says " so I hear you feel bloated, well you have a long way to go and you have not felt anything yet"... I was so irrated... I said to DH, "you know she has a way w/ words":mad:
Gina: did you make it to work today w/ the strike?
babylust-Thanks for sharing your U/S, that's a cutie! It's so defined. You don't think of them as being that REAL at 12 weeks, at least I don't. I saw how big the baby is this week in one of my books and almost died! I was like why don't I feel it yet??? It's huge!
Acne-I've have 1-3 pimples off and on this whole pregnancy. Not a lot, but it's a lot for me.
acne None here, my skin is pretty much the same as always. I need to get mu humidifer set up though because my skin is so dry and itchy it is driving me crzy!
daycare This baby will go to the same daycare as DD. It's expensive and I'm not looking forward to a double daycare bill, but we can't afford for me to not work and I don't want to quit anyway.
amurphy, what part of Boston do you live in? I'm in the metrowest area so if you're nearby I can give you some advice on the daycares we looked at. Feel free to PM me if you don't want to post here.
Hello All :D
I have to say something and I hope this doesn't come across the wrong way... For those of you feeling fat and ugly, please don't. You are carrying a beautiful baby inside of you and a great gift. A gift that some women would literally kill to know. I don't want to sound mean, but after I lost my babies I would have died just to know what it felt like to have a growing belly, or not fit into any clothes.
I know that you're all just expressing your feelings and you are grateful for being pregnant, but please don't let it get you down or depress you. Instead of thinking that you're fat and can't fit into any of your clothes, just think of the wonderful joy in the end.
Like I said, I'm not trying to be mean or sound cruel, just know you're going to be a mommy and the belly and clothes not fitting is only temporary.
Sorry for venting, I just know what it's like not to have that belly and want it so bad.
I'm sorry if I offended and please let me know if I did, it won't hurt my feelings, trust me. It takes a lot to offend me.
I LOVE BEING PREGNANT AND LOOKING PREGNANT. I love having this belly. I went through a lot to have this belly so I show it off every chance I get.
So again I'm sorry if I hurt anyone's feelings, that was not my intention. I just wanted the women who feel self consciene about their looks to know that you look beautiful no matter what you can't or can fit into. You're pregnant, you're a mom, wear it proudly.
PG comparisons: Although this is my 5th pg, this will hopefully be my second child. I can't really compare too much. The first two ended at 8 weeks and the 3rd at 12 weeks. The 3rd was the only different one, I felt fine the whole time, I actually felt great. The other 3 and this one are pretty much the same. With this one it took about a week or two longer than Niko to get the "all day queeziness" out of the way. I'm getting larger sooner with this one too. We'll see how the rest goes.
acne I guess I'm lucky in this area. I haven't had any problems with it. I heard somewhere that if you take the soap that's left in the dish (the really yucky stuff) and put it on your face it will dry up pimples. I've also heard that about toothpaste. I tried the soap thing on a boil and it worked. I use Noxema and people say that dries out your skin but I guess when you're body is producing so much oil, it's helping.
Again, I'm sorry if I offended anyone, that wasn't my intention. And if someone hasn't told you, you look beautiful.
nikosmommy- no offense here. actually it was a nice reality check so Thank You. I have battled weight my entire life so this in between phase where you don't really have a belly, definitely aren't your pre-pg size either has been hard for me. but I too have had 2 miscarriages so I am very grateful for every step fo the process I get to go through. Thank you again for the positive view point.
This is my 2nd pregnancy and 2nd baby. Things are very different this time around. With DS I didn't get m/s until about 12 weeks and it lasted until he was born. This time it started at 6 weeks and is still going strong. There are so many differences.
acne ~ I haven't had any problems. I've had 2-3 zits since I found out I was pg.
I've been MIA as I'm still sick. Last time I posted the Zofran and Phenergan were helping. Well, that lasted 2 days. On Saturday I started puking again and have frequently since then. My average day I eat only about 1 1/2 meals. I love fruit, but it's super expensive since it's out of season around here. Otherwise, I don't have any foods that I enjoy eating. When I'm pg it feels like eating is a chore.
My next appointment is December 29th. My hospital usually does the u/s between 18-20 weeks. I'll be 16w5d at my appointment and won't need to see my doctor until 4 weeks after that. It will be interesting to see if they schedule my u/s for the normal time or make me wait until 21 weeks.
NikosMommy - not offended at all. Your comments were reaffirming in a way. I feel a bit like shouldaeloped in that I've battled with my weight for years, and am finally at a place where I felt good, so this sudden change is a bit surprising. But you're right, it's all something I wouldn't change for anything. And hey, it gives me an excuse to go shopping, right? Thanks for your comments...
I have another question - I went to the dentist yesterday because I fractured a tooth (yep, cracked it wide open and actually swallowed part of my tooth and filling...yuck). Well, the dentist wanted to take x-rays, and when I told her I was pregnant, she responded "well, we can just double-sheild you". They ended up not doing x-rays and will wait till my next visit next week. Does anyone know if this "double-sheilding" is advised for pregnant women? Thanks.
shouldaeloped & gina thank you for letting me know I made a positive point. I kept rereading my post thinking I should delete it and still am not sure if I should keep it up. It's just with society the way it is, *you must be skinny or you're not pretty* kind of attitudes, it makes pregnant women feel unattractive. That is the worst thing in the world. Pregnant women are beautiful and should feel that way every day of their pregnancy and afterwards.
Thanks again for making me feel a little better about what I posted.
NikosMommy: ALthough it doesn't bother me to hear others vent about this in between stage- after two losses, I'm also trying to see the positive side in every little part of this pregnancy. I don't think your post was offensive at all- more like a little pep talk- something we'll all need, especially in the later months.
gina: Not sure about the X-rays- I've heard it's OK, but I think I'm going to refuse them at my next appt. My appt would just be a cleaning, so it's a little different situation. I'd probably call the OB to be on the safe side.
Kaeden's Mommy: I'm sorry you're feeling so poorly. I have two friends that lost 20+ pounds in the first 4-5 months of pregnancy. I can't even imagine how hard it would be to get through that.
I also have an appt closer to 17 weeks. My doc said they would schedule the ultrasound at my next appt so it would be done around 20 weeks and not closer to 22. Hope yours does the same.
acne: My face is a mess. Partly hormones and partly I'm too tired half the time to wash my face at night before I collapse into bed:rolleyes:
daycare: Mia's with a friend of ours that watches a few kids out of her home. I love her dearly and will put the next child with her as well.
Well, I'm off to deal with my whiny child. It's only 30 minutes until nap time:D We had a really rough night- Mia was awake from 1:30-5:45 wanting to play:confused: . Because we have my parents living with us right now (just temporary) and DH has had no sleep the past week due to work I couldn't let her whine in her crib until she got bored. So now I'm dealing with a very crabby little girl and a not so happy mommy either.
I have another question - I went to the dentist yesterday because I fractured a tooth (yep, cracked it wide open and actually swallowed part of my tooth and filling...yuck). Well, the dentist wanted to take x-rays, and when I told her I was pregnant, she responded "well, we can just double-sheild you". They ended up not doing x-rays and will wait till my next visit next week. Does anyone know if this "double-sheilding" is advised for pregnant women? Thanks.
I was at my dentist last month and asked if bleaching was safe during pg. It evolved into a discussion about what is safe during pg with regards to dental care. What she said was that yes, lead vests are supposed to be safe during pg. However, there is a small chance that something could go wrong and that the x-rays could go round the vest and get to you, so she says 99.9% of dentists won't do x-rays at all during pg just in case that very rare case happens. She didn't bring up double-shielding...but unless you're covered in a lead blanket from head to toe, how can double-shielding help?
LOL...that was probably no help to you...I hope they'll be able to fix up your dental problems without x-ray for now...
Nikosmommy: I completely understand what you are saying but I also can relate to what the others are saying as well. It was a hard struggle for DH & I to get to this point of having our first child (like I am sure many others on this board) and I am so excitied about this baby and feel so blessed that we are able to have this child. BUT I do at times have my down moments about some of the changes. And of course they are more hormonal moments (at least for me) then anything... to me my ups and downs thus far have been all over the board. And since it is my first pregnancy, I do not know what to expect or how I should feel. So I do see your point, but I also do not mind hearing what other woman have to say because then I feel "normal" and know that on my down days I am not alone. :)
Gina: not sure about the x-rays..sorry...
Kaaden's mommy: sorry you feel so badly...
DH & I took another photo last night... so I am going to try to post-it... I hope we get to see more bellies.. love those little bellies!
regarding the acne,
My worst acne happened between weeks 10-16 or so. This time, it started around week 10 again, and I'm hoping the worst of this is over in a couple of weeks (I'm 14/1 today). It isn't as bad as it was when I was a teenager (I was been on three six-month courses of accutane in a 6 year period in my late teens/early twenties, it was that bad). But it's still really annoying. I'm getting acne in odd hard to cover places - places like my neck and where my earlobe meets my face, and the centre of my cheek. These are random single pimples, thankfully, but they're also the really big, hard, painful ones. Not only that, but I seem to be breaking out on my back again - I'd had bad acne back there as a teen. Thankfully, most of the scarring has faded over the years, but now that it's flaring up on my back this time, it looks liek a lot of the old scars are turning pinkish again b/c of of the random flare ups back there.
I just uploaded this the other day - this is me late last week, just before 14 wks.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v222/knmerrick/IMG_1523.jpg
I've given up on the regular jeans already (last time I made it to 20 wks in regular jeans), and the rest of my regular clothes are close to becoming obsolete. I wan't in maternity full time until 24 weeks, but I don't think that's possible this time around!
Astldec – lucky you for finding a great place to have your baby. The hospital where I am delivering has 2 spa rooms that you can use to labor or for delivery. We are planning a water birth.
Gina73 – I hope you can find something for the acne. Do you know if there are any foods are activities (stress) that cause flare ups?
Jbenny – sorry for the bad night. Why can’t people just mind their own business.
Daycare – Nope we havent’ started looking. I’m thinking of going with an in home daycare. I will only be out of work for about 10 weeks and my mom has offered to stay for a couple months after I got back to work. Where ever our child goes, he/she will be there 5 days a week from about 8 to 4. DH will do the drop off and I’ll do the pickup.
Shoulda – enjoy the maternity clothes shopping. I hope you find some nice clothes and good bargains. I normally don’t wear ab hugging clothes, but I will be this pregnancy.
Pink – I ask myself the same thing…if my baby is over 4 inches long that why can’t I feel it yet
Nikosmommy – I have to say that I love the feeling. Maybe it is because I have lots of maternity clothes and don’t have an issue finding pants to wear or maybe it is because we tried long and hard to get here and I’m enjoying every second.
Gina73 – I’ve read that dental xrays if needed should be done after the 1st trimester and with proper ab coverage. You should be okay. You can call your ob to double check.
Kaeden’s Mommy – My next appt should have been 17 weeks, but my OB moved it to 18 weeks so I can get my u/s as well.
Welcome to all the new June '06 mommas and for those of you posting belly shots, thanks for sharing -- you guys look great!
kaeden Sorry to hear you're still feeling sick. I keep hoping to log in and see you doing better.
acne Had some very early on, but seems to be better now.
jbenny I cracked up when I read your holiday party story because (minus the jerk) it reminded me of one I had to go to last week - didn't like what I was wearing, was tired, bored, etc. These days a fabulous night consists of being in bed by 9 pm!
niko I really enjoyed your perspective, having not been one to get where I am easily. I relish the growing belly and thank God for it every morning. You've never seen a woman so happy to pack away her old pants and try on maternity clothes! I agree with the others - it's nice to be reminded of what a beautiful, special time this is.
Speaking of maternity clothes shopping....I did some of that this past weekend, as I desperately needed some work clothes and have less left to wear every day. We went to Gap Maternity and I LOVED the clothes. Nice fit, great styles, although a tiny bit pricy. What's everyone's favorite maternity haunts these days? Any tips? So far I've done Old Navy, which I thought was good for inexpensive basics/weekend clothes and Gap, which seemed better suited for work clothing.
Also, I got the baby bedding in that we ordered and was thrilled with it in person.
Also took the leap and told my boss and colleagues today. Everyone was excited and all went well. I plan to share the news with my clients over the next week or two and then I'll have fully let the cat out of the bag. It feels nice to not have to hide it anymore!
All in all, I'm delighted to officially be in the second trimester and feel much more relaxed and "at home" with the whole experience. I can definitely see why it's called "the honeymoon" of a pregnancy!
Hey ladies, Gap Maternity is having a big sale right now on their website.... I don't know if it's just online or in the store too, but it might be worth checking out. I saw that a lot of maternity jeans were on sale. Since so many of you are starting to look for clothes I wanted to pass that along!! :D
After seeing that last pic I made a little mental note to myself to not wear huge baggy sweats when taking belly shots. I'm not quite that blobbish in real life. Oy.
And believe it or not, I think I've gotten noticeably bigger even since the last pic which was only about a week and a half ago.
Well, this post is large enough as it is, so I'm going to save QOTDs and SOs 'til later.
Well, I am 16 weeks and officially felt that little bambino dancing last nite. It was so weird because it definitely wasn't "fluttering', that baby was making his/her presence's known. So excited!!!!!
Ffanel – from the collection of maternity clothes I got from my cousin. I have some really nice work clothes from JCPenney. I also have a couple pair of khakis from Old Navy that I wear to work too..Gap maternity has nice clothes but they are too pricey for me. There is a sweater there that I really like and I may cave and buy it unless I can find a similar one for less somewhere else. I glad that things went well telling the boss.
There are some nice belly pics out there. I’ll post my next on in about 2 weeks.
Ruby – congrats on feeling the baby move.
Thank you all for your positive input on my comments.
Ryan I can understand the first pg and not knowing so I guess that's why I wanted everyone to know that gaining the weight is a beautiful thing and is ok.
Ok, so I have to share this *akward* moment from this morning. Brian and I are DTD and in the middle he says, so what do you want to name the baby. Had he asked that question at any other time I would have answered, but I just thought it was really out of left field for that moment. I told him that I didn't want to discuss it right then. Although he's probably not going to want to use the middle names I want so I should have taken advantage of the moment :p
Niko's middle name is Peter for my dad (who passed away in 2000). If we have a girl I'd like to use Renate as a middle name for his mom (who passed in 2001). If it's a boy I want to use Robert, also middle name, for his dad, (who is still alive). I like to use names of important family members to show respect and honor them.
I know bringing that up at that moment, even though now that I think about it more would have been to my best advantage, would have killed the moment :/
So what I'm thinking is Nicholle Renate for a girl and if it's a boy N??? Robert for a boy (still not sure of a name for a boy).
Oh yeah, Brian's family has thing thing about naming siblings with the first same initial. My family doesn't do that, yet we use middle names where his doesn't. So that is our comprimise. I'll use the same initial if I get a middle name :)
Anyway, have a great evening.
Wow that is weird!! :) But cool nonetheless! Hey did you use to be on the charting to avoid group on WC? I think I might remember seeing you there...I was Rach_in_Oz back then. Forgive me if you weren't. :p
Yup, that was me! I charted for about a year and a half before TTC. :)
Love the bellies! I need to find my camera batteries and get a picture of mine. :)
nikosmommyI'm not offended at all. It wasn't easy for me to get to this point either, and I'm very grateful for it. I actually do love my belly and I'm really not minding the getting fat. But like Ryan said, there are going to be "down" days (which I feel are only human in the face of such change), and I think it's important for all of us to know that others are going through the same kind of thing. For instance, I felt like I might be crazy after that experience at the Christmas party, but hearing the responses that others are having similar experiences made me feel so much better! So, by the way, thanks everyone!
dental xrays I wouldn't do any that aren't necessary, but if you just have them take one of the tooth you're having problems with, you should be fine. I actually take dental xrays every day. They have a very low dose of radiation and very little scatter radiation, which is why my OB has no problem with me doing it. I do wear a monitoring badge, and of course, I leave the room when the xray is taken. I'm not sure if this will make sense, but there is so little scatter that if you don't have the xray tube centered exactly on that little piece of film, the part of the film that wasn't centered won't show a thing on it, meaning no radiation went through it- and it's right next to the xray beam. So the chances of anything getting under the lead shield are very slim, and if it did, it would be a very low dose.
Nikosmommy I just had to giggle at your last post.;)
I had a Dr.s appt. today. Listened to the h/b, all is good.:D Blood pressure is good. I asked if I can get my hair highlighted now, and she said yes. It needs it so bad! Now I just need to get ahold of my hairdresser. I get to schdule our big u/s in four weeks! I cannot wait and I hope the time flies by!
So, I thought I had a UTI and the Dr.s office tested my urine and said there was something there, so since Friday I have been taking macrobid. Haven't been feeling any better. My Dr. tells me today that I don't have a UTI. While she was listening to the h/b she tells me the baby is on my bladder. So that is why I am feeling like I have a UTI. I think I have gone to the bathroom about 50+ times today!
update on my latest doctor appointment. we saw the heartbeating away, the baby was jumping up and down like it had hiccups. we could see a beautiful spinal cord, eyes, mouth, hands and feet. It was very cool. I love that my doctor does this for me every other week. I feel very lucky and will have to do something nice for her when I deliver. after all this talk in here about feeling fat and how we should appreciate it, I was totally expecting to have gained 10 pounds this week. when I got on the scale, I was only up 1 pound from my last appointment 2 weeks ago and that only makes 4 total. It gave me a total different perspective to know that most of the growing I have been doing is a result of baby. that makes me appreciate the next size up even more!
so anyway, I wish I had a picture to post but we are just using this really old machine in her office so I can see the heartbeat. nothing official so no pictures. I have one more visit with the OB on Jan 3rd and then she makes me go to monthly visits. I have been so spoiled! looking forward to the big ultrasound on January 31st!!!
excitedbride- how funny the baby is sitting on your bladder! I hope he/she moves so you can have a little peace from the bathroom!!!
Just wanted to respond on the maternity clothes... I bought from Motherhood and JC Penny for work clothes. Haven't bought much so far, but once I put these outfits on, I'm sure there is no going back to normal clothes!! :rolleyes:
Kelly, Sorry you are still feeling sick! :( I hope you are able to figure something out at your appt! I was wondering the same thing about the big u/s. I will be 16w 4d at my appt on Tuesday, then my next would be around 20w 4d, so I don't know if they would schedule it a little early, or if that is when I would have it. Guess we will have to wait and see! Feel better soon!!
Cute bellies girls!
Have a Happy Hump Day everyone!
Acne: Boy can I say this without getting tomatoes pegged at me? :p But I am darned happy about my skin since getting pregnant. I was always complaining to my DH that my skin should be clearing up since I was over 20 years old and yet I still looked like a teen. Since getting pg I have more zits on my upper chest and back but my face is heaps clearer.
Hair growth? That's a different story. I swear my stomach is turning into a gorillas..... :eek:
Not not fitting anything yet. I did have a pair of track pants on the other day that felt a bit tight but most of my clothes fit well. I THINK it's because I wear so many hipsters that my belly (teeny tiny one that I do have) sits over the top of everything. My boobs on the other hand have made some of my t-shirts ride up higher than ever and I have this midriff on display for all the world to see if I'm not careful :o .
Maternity clothes: Don't get me started....I am actually very seriously contemplating doing some orders from American companies like JCP, Old Navy and the Gap and getting the orders posted to my SIL in Ohio so that she can bring them back to Aus when she comes home from visiting the inlaws....Australia SUCKS big time for decent not exorbitantly priced maternity clothes. :mad:
Daycare: Am not looking really. I'm not planning on working much if at all and if I do it'll be piano teaching from home so will probably just get a high schooler in to watch the kid for an hour or two while teaching a few lessons. We'll play it by ear and see how things go financially. Good luck to everyone looking though I really hope you find a good place with excellent carers and not too expensive.
Happy Wednesday!
Connorsmommy: Your belly is so darn cute!!!
Graffy: I can see the difference!!!
Excitied: I hope that little baby moves for ya!
Shoulda: HOW EXCITING!!! I am totally jealous you can see the baby so much.. good for you!! And so nice to have such excitement around the holidays!!!
Astlrdec: You have me laughing "about hair bellies and throwing tomatoes regarding acne"... LOL...
Have a good day!
Love the belly shots!
Congratulations on feeling the baby flutters, Ruby! I'm so looking forward to that.
Nikosmommy: I understand your comments were coming from a good spot. And I know so many of the moms of this thread, including me, went through a lot to get these babies and wouldn't change things for the world. However, like Ryan said, it is so great to have an outlet to share the not so wonderful feelings as well. That is what makes this forum so great. :D
maternity clothing: I'm anxious to see if I receive any maternity clothing for Christmas. I'd guess that the odds are pretty good. Actually, my sister called me yesterday from Marshalls because they had a rack of maternity jeans, including Old Navy jeans, for $10. She picked me up a couple pairs and I'll just return any that don't fit. I made the mistake of trying on regular Old Navy clothes last night while in the store exchanging something for my DH. Old Navy pants have never fit me...add the belly and you've got a scary scene. I did stop by Filene's basement and picked up a pair of Polo jeans for $9! They are a size up from my regular size and pretty low-rise so they fall under the belly when I sit. Good deal.
Hope everyone is doing well!
I think feeling somewhat "fat" at this point in the pregnancy is normal. I have outgrown all of my regular pants, but maternity pants are still too big for me. Right now I don't look pregnant because my belly isn't big enough yet, I just look fat. I know that I have a wonderful blessing growing inside of me, and I am so excited about that (especially after having a miscarriage before this) but at the same time, I feel like I look fat. If someone doesn't know that I am PG, it is going to look like I have just gained weight. Even in my first pregnancy, I felt much better about the way looked once I got bigger, because then it was obvious that I PG and not just pudgy. :) Now, if my boobs had grown at all, maybe that would be a give away that I was PG but my tiny boobs just don't want to grow, not even during pregnancy. :o
In my first pregnancy, I thought that I was turning into a gorilla too! My belly got really hairy. I have not noticed that yet this time around...yet.
I have a doctors apt today, nothing really exciting for this one, but I will get to schedule the big U/S apt today. :)
In six weeks I’ll be half way there. For me that is Feb 1st. I don’t know about the rest of you, but I am totally looking forward to labor.
Shoulda – you are only up a lb…that is great. My net gain is 3 lbs. My goal is not to gain more than 25 lbs. I don’t want to tip 200 lbs.
Hairy belly – yep my belly is a little hairy, but it has always been. It is probably related to the PCOS. It isn’t that bad and I pretty much ignore it.
Amurphy – I had forgotten about Marshall’s and TJ Maxx. I need to check out both stores.
I think I can catch up... I took yesterday off of work because I found out that I still had one floating holiday left.
Maternity Clothes- If found this store by absolute chance. My DH likes to go to liquidation stores and such to look for action figures and Liquidation World had a ton of maternity clothes... The best part is that it JC Penney's stuff that I had looked at the prior month. So I bought a couple of sweaters and I'll go back periodically to get more clothes. Nothing was over $10 there.
Hair- I have noticed a lot of my hair on the bathroom floor. My hair itself is very fine but I have a ton of it! Ihaven't notciced any hair on my belly though.
Weight gain- I am still the same weight as my pregnancy weight. The doctor said it was fine and in this next month I should start gaining a couple of pounds.
Okay, so I got a weird one. Does anyone else notice that their chest growing very disproportionately to the rest of their body? I have a little pooch for my stomach that is easy to cover up but I feel a meter-maid. My boobs have gone from barely filling a 34 B on the first loop to popping out of a 36 C on the middle loop. I am at that point where my stomach allows me to wear my old shirts still but anything that is a v-neck or has a slight low cut shows major cleavage. Even in just a fitted shirt with a high neck line, they look like they are on display.
I guess I chould be excited but it makes me very self conscious. I have caught guys at the post office and grocery store just staring at my chest. Even women give me dirty glares.
ds2003 I'm looking forward to labor as well. I had a fast labor (but long pushing) with my DD and there was a complication that caused me to have to deliver in the hospital instead of the birth center, so I'm looking ofrward to having another go at it. My midwife assures me that it will be smooth sailing this time since the complication was quite rare. You're planning a med-free water birth, right? I really liked laboring in the water but when it came to pushing I found it too slippery and I kept getting annoyed, so I got out.
amurphy, I didn't realize that Marshalls sold maternity, I'm going to have to check it out! I even have a gift card for Marshalls that I got back in October and I've been trying to figure out how to use it.
feeling fat I'm in that same stage where maternity clothes are a bittoo big but my regilar clothes are all too tight. Luckily I had a good stash of transition wear from when I first went back to work after my DD was born, so I was able t saty in regular pants for a while but I'm mostly wearing maternity pants now, it is just so much more comfortable.
Well, I'm almost at the 17 week mark...my mother is still having problems figuring out how far along that makes me, so I keep trying to convert to months.
I had my 2nd mid-wife appointment last night. Went well, got to hear the heartbeat again...although the M/W did comment on how difficult our little baby is already. She couldn't get a very clear reading on the H/B, as soon as she located it, the baby would move and she'd lose it again. She was able to catch it for a moment (although faint) and estimated the H/B to be at about 140 BPM. So exciting.
I'm pleased to report that I have remained exactly the same weight, haven't gained a pound...and actually I was wearing my cords and a long sleeve shirt yesterday, so I figured I've actually lost a pound or two due to my worsening M/S.
Speaking of M/S, I broke down and asked for the perscription for Diclectin. My M/S has gone from Non-existant in the beginning to having me vomit every second day. Which isn't bad (and I know I can't really complain) but the problem is that I don't just puke and feel better. I struggle through, coughing and gagging the whole time. Then my eyes feel like they are popping out of my head and I start with a terrible headache that lasts all day. So if I can avoid it by taking medication, I'm all for it now.
I also have to go in for a test to check for UTI, based on some of my symptoms. I did ask about the frequent urination being a symptom and she kind of laughed at me and said that I was doing everything backwards (M/S, frequent peeing, etc.) and hopefully that meant I would have an easy labour.
*Knock Wood* that she didn't just jinx me...
Only one more day of work left and I'm off for the Holidays. Going to get my hair done tonight, which I'm thrilled about and had a wonderful massage last night to help with some tailbone issues that I'm having.
Other than that, things are progressing nicely, work has pretty much been told that I'm PG and so far nothing but good reactions. Have one more VP to tell, but think I will wait until after the holidays.
So, I know I should be doing S/O's, but I don't have the energy right now. Hope everyone else is doing well and welcome to all the new members of the June Mommies Club.
Lil_Mrs_0702 - I have noticed the same thing with my bbs and recently asked a similar question. I was a 36C and now I’m wearing a 38D. I still have some room to grown in this bra and it gives me a lot more support. I’m still wearing regular style bras and hope to avoid maternity bras if I can. I will buy some nursing bras but that will be much later. DH loves the chest enhancement.
Orange – Yep, a med-free water birth for me. Meds aren’t my style unless they are medically necessary. I have the same concern regarding slipping in the spa. I asked the tour guide about it at my last birthing center tour and she said it can get slippery but that most of the time women are leaning over the side. I really want to deliver in the water so maybe we will have to get some non-slip mats. They really should have put some hand rails on the spa since there isn’t anything to hold onto. She also said that I could have DH in the water with me so that I can lean against him to hopefully minimize the slippage. We will see. I hope you get to deliver in the birth center this time.
Hello All :D
labor I'm having mixed emotions about this. I was all prepared with Nikolas being I was induced. No rushing to the hosp, wondering if this was it or anything like that.
We got there Sun at 9pm, they put in the foley catheter at 11pm and started pitocin at 4am Mon. The dr broke my water at 10am and I was 10 cm by 2pm. I was a trooper with the pain until they broke my water, the contractions went from a 2/3 to a 7/8. They couldn't get that epidural fast enough for me.
At 3 my contractions had completely stopped. I didn't even have the urge to push but my dr had me start anyway. (I actually only had that urge to push maybe 3 or 4 times while the dr had me pusing.) I pushed til about 5:30 when she came back in and told me I had another 1/2 hour to get Niko down or we'd be having a c-section. She came back in at 6 and said she could get him out w/the vacuum. Niko was face up so he wasn't coming out on his own.
After 19 minutes of the vacuum, Niko was out, but his cord was around his neck twice and he was not breathing. All I remember is the dr yelling "get out of my way" so she could get him to the incubator and them calling for the NICU staff. After about 5 mintues he started to breath.
Everything worked out fine but it scared the crap out of me.
So I am looking forward to this birth but still scared that it might not go the way I want it to. Brian didn't want to be in the room for Niko and I made him. I'm going to ask him to be in the room with me again cause I'm going to need him there for support.
It wasn't ideal but our son is here, well, alive and has cookie face right now.
boobs: Before Niko I was holding out at a 36DD. After pg & I was done bf'ing Niko I stayed at a 38G. I can still fit into those bras but they are tight around the chest and I'm popping out. Brian says I have pornboobs :rolleyes: All I know is that they hurt really bad and the past few days they've been itching so much.
MrsBrownie I hope the meds help and that all the sickness now means an easy birth. At least now you're prepared for what's to come in the teenage years :D
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So we're having an ok day. As every morning, I got sick when I looked at my toothbrush. I've discovered a few new things that I like. Nachos with salsa con queso. I literally sit with the bags of chips, the jar and dip away. I'm also enjoying all chocolate cereals and chocolate chip cookies crushed up in milk. Those three things are staples in my diet right now.

Speaking of M/S, I broke down and asked for the perscription for Diclectin. My M/S has gone from Non-existant in the beginning to having me vomit every second day. Which isn't bad (and I know I can't really complain) but the problem is that I don't just puke and feel better. I struggle through, coughing and gagging the whole time. Then my eyes feel like they are popping out of my head and I start with a terrible headache that lasts all day. So if I can avoid it by taking medication, I'm all for it now.
Diclectin! I thought to myself "she must be from Canada!" and I see by your little profile that you are! (where in Ontario are you? I'm in Calgary).
Diclectin is great stuff. I had nausea every single day of my pg with my son. I had it literally until the moment that I had him. I rarely puked (maybe 3-4 times total), but that nausea was debilitating.
Anyway, Diclectin can make you feel loopy at first, but hopefully it'll work for you. Me, it worked really well that I could never go off it until my son was born. About once a month, I'd forget to take my one pill at night and the next day I'd feel like absolute crap.
This go around, I started taking it at 6 weeks. I took it for about three weeks (just one pill at night) as a precaution b/c I was sooo scared of having the same all day/entire pg nausea again. however, after 3 weeks, I realized that I didn't need it at all, and I took myself off it!
Good luck!

My big u/s is scheduled for 1/18/06! I made it for 8am, I am so happy I won't have to wait all day for my appt.! heehee!
I just talked to my sil and she is pg! My other sil is 30weeks pg with twins! So we are all pg!

excited bride - my u/s is also on the 18th at 8am.
Hey, all! Sorry I haven't been around much. Work has been really hectic, but I've been reading along and keeping up with everyone's news.
I've been having kind of a tough week this week. My OB appointment on Monday was really frustrating and it left me feeling pretty vulnerable. I don't feel well taken care of. I've been in a great mood for weeks, and now I can't stop feeling cranky. Add in that I've been feeling kind of achy and crampy, and I'm left nervous and a little scared. I go back to the OB right after the new year, and I need to talk with them about their management plan and what I'm comfortable with. And if I'm still not happy, I may try to find another practice. ID twins is a high risk pregnancy and I want someone who takes that seriously.
Which leads me to labor. I was all about med-free, water birth, etc. But with the twins, I've had to realign my expectations a little. Or a lot, really. As long as I get two healthy babies, it's good with me.

Diclectin -Man I wish I could get that here. I try to make my own with Unisom and B/6 (under the doctors supervision of course) but I don't think it really works.

Oh my gosh how did I forget.
excitedbride & ds2003-thanks for reminding me!
I booked our u/s for the 19th of Jan at 8am (I wanted it early too! :)). With the time difference it's probably going to be closer to US late afternoon 18th Jan.
So excited. :D
labour: I'm booked into a birth centre so med-free here but I am very very keen for labouring and maybe birthing in the water....we'll play that by ear as to actually birthing in water I'll see what works best at the time.
boobs: I've gone up a size in everything and DH loves it :cool: We went to GJ's for coffees last night and walking home I looked in the shop window and the boobs and stomach looked proportinoally okay but that's the first time I've thought that. Until now it's been HUGE boobs and tiny everything else.

Looks like a lot of u/s will be happening that week!
We're also booked in at 8 a.m. on Jan 19th, just a mere 9 1/2 hours before we leave for Hawaii. That will be one of the most exciting days of 2006 for me! :)
I can't wait to find out if Baby2 is a boy or girl. We already have the names picked out (girl name same as our choice from our first pg, boy name we came up with over a year ago), and I can't wait until we can start calling this baby Aubrey or Dawson :)

Okay so this is not just in my head... My ears must have been burning because while I was writing the posts earlier today one of our vendors asked our sales rep if I got boob job!! Apparently I was out the last couple of times she was here and when she came in today she noticed that they are significantly larger. My rep told her that I was pg.
Connor's Mommy- I am so jealous! I saw some cute maternity bathing suits at OldNavy.com but by the time bathing suit season comes I'll be carrying the baby in my arms!

I never thought to look for a maternity suit -- I definitely need some room for baby2, but I have two tankinis which will do the trick -- and I actually look pg in them rather than just "getting chunky"
One of my problems was finding summer maternity wear for our two week trip. LOL...I'm in Canada, and found out I was pg in October... not exactly prime time for summer maternity wear instores. (and I only have winter stuff from the last pg) Luckily, a friend has lent me a couple pairs of shorts and some cute t-shirts that she wore on a tropical vacation 3 or 4 mos before her daughter was born last year. That, and I bought a couple pairs of ON mat. shorts on clearance back in august even though we weren't pg yet!
(and lol about the boob job!!) :)

Belly shots-I hope to have weeks 10, 12, 13, 14 to post later today if DH ever sends them to me!
I noticed you can see my hip bones or something in week 14, it's like I'm shrinking instead of growing. Can't wait to see your opinions. I don't think there has been that much of a change til week 14.
Nausea stayed away yesterday! I feel it a little today but hopefully it goes away.

Connormommy ~ I am in Canada, actually DH and I live just outside of Toronto. It's nice to know that there's someone else from Canada on the boards...at least someone can sympathize with my lack of cute maternity clothes online and lack of being able to order anything from Toys R Us.com in the US. Why can't we have the same stuff that they have?
I've only taken the Diclectin for two days, but let me tell you I feel so much better. I'm able to brush my teeth without gagging and the nausea is gone. It's heaven! I've noticed that I'm a little bit more sleepy, but not going to let that stop me. I will take that over the nausea any day.
Although I'm currently dealing with a cold and it's not fun...it's all in my nose and other than some antihistamines, there's not much that I can take for it. So I've been blowing my nose and eating throat lozenges by the dozen. I just hope this is as bad as it gets.
U/S ~ My ultrasound it booked for January 11/06 but I can't remember at what time (I'm thinking afternoon.) We are not going to find out the sex, I really want it to be a surprise. DH on the other hand is all for finding out...but I really want to hear 'Congratulations, you have a little .....'
Although I am 99% sure that we are having a girl. My hairdresser did the needle trick (with a pendant though) last night. It was actually quite fascinating to watch. The first time she put the pendant over my hand, it went in circles. The second time it moved from side to side and the third time...it stood still. She said we will have two kids, the first will be a girl and the second will be a boy. She swears she has never been wrong...and it reinforces the feelings I've been having.
So I'm pretty certain it's a girl...which figures as DH and I can't even come close on choosing a girl's name. So I'm sure it will be a last minute decision once we see our child.
Other than that, not much to report. My IL's brought over our Christmas gifts last night and Baby B has four or five gifts under the tree...who would've thought. Not even born yet and spoiled rotten already!
Hope everyone has a great day, that nausea stays away for everyone (Pink, let's hope you have two good days in a row) and only three more sleeps until Christmas.

connorsmommy- I didn't even think of tankinis. I have always worn bikinis but I'm sure I wont be anywhere near small enough to wear them this year. I told my parents that for my birthday I want a body toning class at a local gym or community college. My birthday is August 23 so I figured that will be perfect timing for trying to go back to prebaby size.

hello everyone! DH and I traveled to Raleigh yesterday (3 hours in the car) to visit his grandmother. she's pushing 90 and as sweet as she is, as soon as we told her we were pregnant, she had a barrage of old fashioned advice to give. some of the best ones were don't ride in the car for more than 2 hours at a time (uh. . how should I get home today?) and don't sweep anything. especially the porch. (what does that have to do with anything??) she also said the 3rd month and the 7th month were the most dangerous! very bizarre and I know she was trying to help but it had DH and I laughing pretty much the whole time. good times.
my big ultrasound isn't scheduled until 1/31. am I going to be the last one????
and regarding swimsuits.. this body won't be in one for a while. I went to the gym today for the first time since I got my BFP and I feel like a million bukc.s my energy levels have come back in full force and so far, I am really liking the second trimseter.
to everyone still feeling crummy. . I hope it goes away soon.

Glad to hear the Diclectin is doing what it needs to be doing! I had one friend who took it with her first pg, and it did NOTHING for her. She was sick as a dog the whole time.
As for the stuff not available in Canada, it is a real pain in the butt. I found with things like certain Safety 1st child locks that they were impossible to find in Canada, so I'd end up trying to find them online, and would have to do a LOT of searching for retailers who would ship to Canada.
But I must say, Canada is improving -- in late 2002/ early 2003 with Connor, Babies R Us had a gift registry in Canada, but it wasn't available online. And now it is. And I've noticed over the course of the last couple of years, more baby/toddler stuff has become available or I've found suitable substitutes (for example, when Connor was 11 months old, I wanted to buy a Chicco London stroller (lightweight, small, rolls well, decent handle height for 6'3" DH), and I COULD Have bought one in Dallas when we were there but I didn't. I figured I could find it in Canada. I got back to find out NO one carried them... and it took until this past summer when I found the Cossatto stroller (which I am absolutely certain is made by the same manufacturer and is identical to the Chicco London) at the Bay and Zellers.
Car seats, as well....when Connor went into a big car seat, I really wanted a Britax Marathon, but you couldn't buy them in Canada (or even use them, as they weren't transport Canada approved). But now they are, so we have one.
So, it IS getting better! :)

Connorsmommy funny that Britax wasn't approved in Canada. It is a British company isn't it! We have two marathons and love them.
Long story, but from what I understand from my research was that the Canadian Standards Association has jurisdiction over car seats. Car seat models are approved by them, but the approvals only last for a set number of years, and then the car seat company has to reapply for certification in order to keep legally selling their seats in Canada. Without a CSA approved sticker on your car seat, if you're pulled over, you can face heavy fines for NOT having your child restrained at ALL!
And, in my 'research,' I found out the reason why Britax wasn't available in Canada for a few years was because of their unwillingness to provide information on the box and literature inside the box in French. :rolleyes:
When they finally got approved to sell in Canada again (after a 5? year absence), there were only three little baby boutiques in Canada that sold them - one each in Vancouver, Calgary and Toronto. I headed down to the store that would be selling them to find out there was a waiting list and I had to wait for the 4th shipment!
But, well worth the wait (and money spent) -- I LOVE our Britax!

PinkCute belly pics!! You do look smaller in the 14 week pic. The lighting looks a lot different in that shot, could that be it?
Big U/S Mine isn't scheduled yet either, and my dr. told me that they won't do it until 24 weeks, which is still 10 weeks and two dr's appts. away. I'll have an appt. at about 21-22 weeks. I'm not sure if they'll do it early at that visit, bring me in for a special visit just for that at 24 weeks, or wait until the next visit, which puts me at about 26 weeks. It seems so far off and I can't wait. I'm happy for those of you who are having yours soon!!

I was wondering about Gwen's dd too. Odd.
I haven't scheduled my big u/s yet either, but I have an OB appt on Tuesday, so I am assuming I will schedule it then for mid January. I will be 20 wks around January 20, so the week before that is when I am assuming I will be scheduled. I can't wait!!! DH and I both want to wait to find out, but I think our curiosity and need to plan it out are getting the best of us because we are finding out! :o
Well, the gossip has started flying at work!! I only told a few people at work that I am pg but for some reason, everyone was coming up and congratulating me today. It was weird, but I was glad not to have to tell everyone and their uncle! It was funny to find out how some people heard. :p

Hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas!
Baby #1 Due June 18th, 2006.
shouldaeloped, mystical and jcharley - I may end up with you guys - i.e. 20 week not until 1/31 or even early February. I *really* hope they're able to see at 16 weeks.
Pink - I think you look smallest at 12 weeks, but it is a little hard to tell. Hope you kick that m/s soon and start gettin' biiiig. :)
Baby Lust - Did you ask people who they heard from? I did. Turned out that the office gossips weren't actually the ones telling. It was funny. They all seemed a little embarrassed to tell me, though. Hee.
As for me, I'm feeling a little better. I called my practice back to talk with someone and say that I wasn't comfortable with the doctor's schedule. The nurse didn't even have to talk to a doctor. She immediately said, oh, yeah, they don't wait that long in a twin pregnancy and I should come in again on 1/3. I still need to have a serious convo with them to see if I need to change practices, but for now I'm feeling a little better. And I get to see the kiddos in 10 days. I'll be 16 weeks and I hope they'll be able to tell us the sex.
Jad- I get to find out the sex on 1/3 too (I hope) and I can barely contain myself. Really wishing for a girl this time, good luck to you! Happy Holidays to all........

Hello All :D
Our u/s is on the 9th, I'll be 19 weeks. I can hardly wait. There are only a few places here that do them, so I scheduled it back in Oct and that was the earliest date I could get :/
Brian took the morning off to go with me. Even though we won't do anything if there are any problems, we still have to sit through counseling to tell us of all the possible problems. I know they have to cover their butts, but if we sign a release, which we are willing, why put us through that? It pi**es me off cause they're going to try to talk us into further testing that we don't want, I'm already getting attitude about that part of the appointment. And they told us that if we don't do the counseling or don't show, we won't get the u/s that day.
Anyway... I hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday. Just think, this time next year, we'll be celebrating first holidays with our little ones. Even though they'll be too young to understand, it will be magical for us. I know last year I cried putting up our tree, when Niko sat on Santa's lap, when he opened his presents and when I opened my mommy card from him. Yes, I cried a lot for the holiday :rolleyes:
Hey Ladies:
Shoulda; Mystikal, jcharley; Jad: I am w/ you.. I have my 16th week appt next wed. and then I will not have my ultrasound until I am 20 weeks which will put me at the end of January. I know I said this before but I am doing the glucose test on Wed. I asked why so early and they said that is when they do it...
Jcharley: we are going to be surprised about the sex as well... hard but I want to wait!
JBenny: scary thought... already a Sept. mommies thread... gosh..
Pink Great photos!
Everyone have a wonderful holiday!!!!

Great belly shots girls! I need to start posting mine. Pink ~ I can definitely see a baby belly there.
I'm also feeling better and haven't puked since Tuesday! I'm hoping this means I'm getting over the m/s part of pregnancy.
We don't have our u/s schedule yet, but I'm hoping to have it mid-January. Otherwise I'll be nearly 21 weeks (if we wait until 4 weeks after my current appointment on 12/29). Hopefully I'll only have to wait 2-3 weeks. I keep going back and forth about finding out the gender. We tried to find out with DS but he wouldn't show off the goods so we were surprised. I did like that, but at the same time I'm a planner and like to have all the information that's available. We'll see, I guess.
Anyway, I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas!

I ended up vomitting because I think I needed some protein or something, and I ate lunch too late, I had snacked but not really eaten. Dh came home early from work and we went to Steak and Ale around 1:30 and I had French Onion Soup and the salad bar and a little spinach dip and I felt much better. I feel pretty good now! That soup was good.
Gender-We're still saying we are going to wait. 1/2 of me wants to know but DH is totally against it so I guess I'll wait. It's going to be fun to hear "it's a boy/girl" I think :) . I still can't wait for the big US tho, I want to see my little friend again ;) .

Baby B got presents! Two of those activity blanket things with stuff to kick at and all that (what are they called). One is Baby Einstein and one is Fisher Price. We also got two story books, a baby monitor, a classic Pooh receiving blanket and some rattles! It was fun! I didn't expect so many people to get the little one presents!
I also got a robe nightgown thing and some house shoes for the hospital. That was nice. My Mom got them for me.
I got the book Baby Laughs by Jenny McCarthy (they were out of Belly Laughs, DH tried to get me both and will get it for me later) and I've read a bit of it. It's really funny. Can't wait to read the other one.
Got lots of un-baby related stuff too and I'll share later if anyone else does.
We were up at 5 am opening presents because the dog barked to go out and I let her and she started going crazy chasing a possum and causing a ruckus that surely woke up the neighbors, Merry Christmas everyone, geez! Crazy dog! We were so mad. Couldn't go back to sleep after all the excitement.
Had a good, 95% nausea free day with both sides of the family. It was fun and nice. Hope everyone else had a good Holiday.

I was just reading the Cute, Trendy Diaper Bag thread. Many of the recommended bags were $100 and over. Am I a cheapskate? I just can't imagine paying $130 for a diaper bag.
Hope everyone had a great holiday!! I got a baby present, too. I got a basket of baby toys and baby stuff. My family was blown away by listening to the heartbeat. That was great. Next Christmas is going to be amazing. I can't wait!

Hello All :D
Hope everyone had a great holiday.
We had a low key holiday. We didn't go to VA so it was just the 3 of us. On Sat I mad a lasagna, which Brian said was very good, and I must agree it was. Yesterday Brian made turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, carrots & green beans, yes for just the 2 of us. So there are plenty of left overs.
I got 2 maternity tops, one being so itchy it has to go back even though I love it; a gift card to a local store; and a toblerone. Nikolas gave me a wireless headset for my cell phone and Brian got me a new coat.
My sister said my mom wanted to get something for the baby, but I told her not to. I'm not ready to get stuff for the baby, don't want to jinx anything. Besides we'll get plenty later on.
Brian had both Friday and today off so Niko had daddy all weekend. It was especially nice today when I got up for about 15 minutes at 9 and then went back to bed until 12. I was also up until 2 this morning, I couldn't sleep :/

I hope everyone is having a wonderful holiday.
We are at my parents house in MD and will be here until Wednesday. We are then going to the IL's through New Years.
We stopped by my sister's house in DE on the way down and will probably stop by again after we leave.
Yesterday we went to my grandma's house for Christmas Day brunch. This morning we got up to head to Target to get some Christmas stuff. I wanted to hit Old Navy for some maternity tops, but the one near my parents does not carry maternity clothes.
No gifts for the baby from my side of the family, but I know DH's sister got some for the baby. She is going crazy on the baby buying. I had to tell her to get three months and older because she was racking up on the 0-3 months clothes and I know they grow out of them quickly.
jbenny - I'm sure I want the Land's End Do it all and the Little Tripper. I belive the Do It All is $30 and the Little Tripper is $20. I can't imagine spending over $100 for a diaper bag.

Happy holidays, everyone!
We got back from my family's house yesterday. We had a great Christmas. My DH surprised me with a ring he designed. It has nine stones for each month of pregnancy (he does know that it is technically 10 months though)--four diamonds on each side and a moonstone--the June birthstone--in the middle. Now I have to make sure that I'm not really really overdue!
I also received a lot of maternity clothes. Thank goodness because I think I had a growth spurt over the last few days! My belly is huge! I had my first "pregnancy moment" on Sunday morning when I was getting dressed. I went to put on the Ann Taylor pants that fit me a week ago and they were tight. I started crying. My poor Mom and DH had to console me. They kept saying, "You aren't getting fat. You are growing a baby!" I know I was being ridiculous...but I couldn't stop crying. :rolleyes:
In any case, I'm off to try out my new Dyson and put away all the presents. Hope everyone had a great holiday!

Good morning everyone. back to the grindstone for many of us. for those of you still on vacation. . enjoy it! it's tough coming back.
my holiday was good. my sister lives abroad and sent the only present for the baby this year. it was a beautiful Teddy Bear with the most amazing note in the box talking about how anxious everyone was to meet the newest member of the family and how the teddy bear would be here waiting for him/her along with the rest of us. . it was the first present we opened and I burst into tears. I relly miss my sister and that just threw me over the top. other than that, all the rest of the gifts were for me!!!!

amurphy- I can totally relate. I have had a few of those recently and today I am wearing a pair of previously big JCrew pants with a rubber band and a paper clip. I just can't wait until the baby belly is showing and it all makes more sense. it's so hard to go from the always trying to get smaller mentality to the okay with getting bigger. your ring sounds gorgeous! DH did good!
anyway- just wanted to say good morning! I'm really looking forward to January when everyone starts to have their big ultrasounds and we can find out the sex (if we so choose!)

Happy Holidays everyone!
We had a great Christmas. It was the first year that we were home in our own house for Christmas morning and also the first year that DD (she's 2.5) really got the idea of Santa. It was so much fun! We went so crazy buying presents for her, but it is her last year of having it all to herself, so we rationalized it that way.
jbenny No way would I spend over $100 for a diaper bag. I think it depends on how you use it though. I WOH so we really only use the diaper bag on weekends. I think that if you SAH and used it every day and also didn't carry a purse, it might be worth it. I have yet to find one for any price that I love for its functionality anyway. I spent $37 for my Kecci bag and felt like that was a splurge.
amurphy That ring sounds beautiful!
ds2003 Sounds like you are having a nice week. You're smart to tell your SIL to hold off on the 0-3 baby clothes. Some babies are born to big for them! I think you can get an idea by how big you and DH were at birth. I was 5 pounds 11 ounces and DH was ~8 pounds and DD was 7 pounds 5 ounces. She actually wore 0-3 clothes until close to 3 months. It's tough with the seasons too since by the time these babies are 3 months old, it will start getting colder and we'll need different clothes.
shoulda That is so sweet about the teddy bear! I would have cried too, although it doesn't take much these days!
pants/clothes I am officially in the awkward stage. All my regular pants, even the "transition" sizes are not comfortable anymore except for one gigantic pair of jeans. I've been wearing maternity, but it is really too big and falls down all the time. My maternity tops look ridiculously big, but my regular shirts are also starting to look ridiculously small. Hopefully this stage will pass quickly and I can just start wearing maternity full time.
ds2003
12-27-2005, 09:05 AM
orange - i am having the same issue with my regular shirts. They are not long enough and the maternity ones are way too big. I bought some spaghetti strap tanks from Old Navy maternity and wear them under my shirts that are too short so my belly isn't naked. If you get a coordinating color then it looks like they go together.
I was 7.5 lbs and DH thinks he was 7lbs something so I hope the 0-3 months stuff will fit for a few months.

Sounds like everyone had a great holiday.
Shoulda- It sounds like your family is really looking forward to another family member. It is so great to have so much support and love in your family.
Orange and Amurphy- It sounds like we are all getting into the same thing in the same week. I am hoping that it is holiday bloating but I put on a pair of work pants that great last week and I decided to switch pants because I was nervous that they might split 1/2 way thru the day.
Gifts for baby- Well I asked DH for a crib and my parents got us a camcorder. My mom went a little over board, but everything was adorable. We got a couple of little outfits and sleepers, the absolute softest teddy bear ever, some receiving blankets, and a fleece blanket. She has already gotten us a ton of stuff for the nursery from crib bedding to awesome Pooh rug. She is so excited to become a grandma.
So I got a cold over the weekend. My aunt that hosted Christmas eve was sick along with her entire family so I'm sure I caught it from them, either that or I jinxed myself when I told my cousin that I think with how much helathier I am eating and the prenatals are keeping from getting sick. It's not to bad my temperature is a little over 97 and it's just in my throat and ears. I had yesterday off so I tried to sleep a bunch of it off and have been drinking a ton of water to try to flush it out of my system. I think I am going to call the dr or nurse today to see what is safe to take for a cold. I don't want to take any chances.
Just a quick update- My next appointment is January 11th. Just a fourth month check up.

Runny Nose-Does anyone else have this? I woke up at 2:30 am and my nose ran and ran all night after that. I couldn't breathe. I know this is a normal pregnancy thing, but is it happening to you all?
Insomnia-The last two nights I have woken up in the middle of the night and not fallen back asleep until like 6 am. It's horrible.
Clothes-I'm in that awkward stage too. It sucks! I don't have any clothes that actually fit. I got another huge bad of maternity hand me downs, I need to go thru them and wash them.
Morning Sickness-I hate to jinx myself but I am no longer nauseated 24/7. I think I have more normal pregnant lady symptoms now. An all day sense of not feeling great and occasional nausea, instead of constant nausea. I'm going to call the Dr. about whether or not I can stop the Zofran.
Do you all get pains when you sneeze or reach and stuff like that? It hurts the bottom of my tummy.
I got Belly Laughs yesterday and already read it. It's really funny!
Diaper Bags-I WANT those trendy, expensive bags but we are a one income family now and I cannot justify buying one.
PINK- no I don't get pains when I sneeze, but it's impossible not to pee when I do! I actually had to change my jammies last nite it was so bad! Pregnancy is so glamourous......

Runny Nose-Does anyone else have this? I have not had a runny nose but it has definately been stopped up - I woke up in the middle of the night to blow it.
Insomnia- not having this - I am still really tired most of the time. Not as bad as before but definately no insomnia
Clothes- mine are getting tighter & tighter by the week. I definately need to go buy me some prego pants soon. I have been wearing my pants that are my "bigger" pants but they are getting tighter.
Morning Sickness- none lately but still gag every now & then
Pains : Do you all get pains when you sneeze or reach and stuff like that? yes
I go to the doctor a week from today for bloodwork & to hopefully schedule my u/s :) it can not get here quick enough.

pains/sneezing-reaching I do get them once in a while. Also when standing up too quickly. But yes, I do sometimes pee too when I sneeze :o

just popping in for a few QOTD. .
runny nose- none of that here. I am more dry than anything else and really need to get a humidifer for our room.
insomnia- only when DH snores which is every night. I have to go to bed 30 minutes before him.
clothes- this is an unrelenting issue for me. I have one pair of tranisition jeans and one pair of transition work pants. I having a hard time buying full on maternity clothes this early as so many first time moms don't have to wear them until closer to 20 weeks. I am only 15 weeks and am having a hard time with this. so I have on the most uncomfortable pair of slacks with the button undone and halfway unzipped. thankfully, my office door closes.
pains- I still get minor crampy pains. some sharp, some dull, some last a while and some are really quick. doc says they are normal and I just saw the baby last week so I'll take them as being normal! I guess the short answer would be yes, I do get sharp pains when I sneeze, stretch, bend over too far.
another QOTD- now that the first trimester is over, I am headed back to the gym. what is everyone doing at the gym. I need some good ideas that have been working for others.

Hi, everyone!
Am hanging out with my family in outback Queensland where it is set to get to a 'balmy' 113 degrees F today...:eek: so I'm going to conserve energy and go have breakfast in a sec after the QOTD's...on that note here's another QOTD:When you suddenly find yourself (suddenly being the key word here) hungry do you find that until you eat something there is no distracting yourself with other things until the kitchen and/or food joint is nearby? I am like this crazed woman....I don't think DH knows what hits him when I'm hungry....:rolleyes:
runny nose: Oh my goodness yes! I'm this stuffed up nose person. I've also noticed (gross warning) that it tends to be red tinged so obviously one of the places all this extra blood flow is going is to my nose. I'm just hoping that I don't start getting heaps of blood noses the further along I get.
insomnia-nope haven't had any yet thankfully. I find I'm sleeping a little lighter at times if I've had a crazy day mentally/emotionally or not done much exercise but if I'm tired I sleep which is good.
clothes not really having a problem with them yet. I am definitely your typical first timer who is taking what seems like forever to finally pop. I have a pooch but that's about all you can call it. I look bigger when I eat dinner and then shrink back to poochland come morning...:cool:
gym don't have a gym membership but since it's so stinking hot here I think most workouts will have to occur in the pool this summer. I've been walking and swimming laps in my family's pool here but when we get back to Sydney I'll buy a swim pass to our local pool. It's supposed to be really good for pregnancy so I'll probably try and keep this up til June. When it starts to get cold around April/May I'll have to find a local heated pool if I can coz I really do love exercising in water over and above any other exercise routines. I bought that e-book Pregnancy without Pounds (which is a dumb title yes) and I've done a few of her routines a couple of times and really like them so should be more consistent with those for keeping these stomach muscles and stuff in shape. :p

My next appointment is in 4 weeks, and I won't schedule my u/s until then, so I'll definitely be 20-21 weeks before I have that done.:( my nuchal translucency test came back good- my risk dropped to about 1/3400 from the u/s, and 1/9000 from the bloodwork.
I do have one question I forgot to ask my OB- I've read.heard all about how you are supposed to sleep on your side, but I often awake on my back. How bad is that for you, and how do you keep from doing it??
P.S- I just figured out how to change my avatar- its my cute dog at a dog show- doesn't he look handsome!!!!

JC, Sleeping on your back restricts blood flow to your uterus and stops nutrients from getting to the baby. I asked my dr about it and she said that you can't go back and change the fact that you woke up on your back, but don't do it on purpose, and as soon as you notice it, turn on your side. Left side is best, and she even said the same about waking up onyour right side! I have to keep switching sides or my hips and back get sore, but the back is not a good thing to be on! You'll get into the habit of sleeping on your side all night long.
ds2003
12-28-2005, 07:50 AM
baby_lust - I'm the same way. It is very hard for me to stay on the same side all night.
Jcharley - I've heard different things about when you should stop sleeping on the back. I read 2nd tri, 20 weeks, etc. I can't sleep on my back but I like to rest on my back sometimes.
Is it okay to lay elevated on your back...like at an angle and not flat (upper body elevated)?
Niko&Troi
12-28-2005, 08:10 AM
Hello All :D
I'm not 100% sure about the whole back thing, but I know with Niko I often woke up on either my back or right side and Niko is fine now, no long term effects.
It is so hard to control which way you're laying when you're out cold. I often fall asleep on my right side only cause that's the only way I can sleep.
Astlrdec I don't get crazed, but I MUST eat soon after the feeling comes on. No matter what time it is. Like last night at 10:45 having a PBJ sandwich. I really wanted wide egg noodles with butter, but Brian finished the noodles and I wasn't about to cook that late.
QOTD: If you have a girl, if and when will you get her ears pierced?
So I know I may be opening a can of worms with this, but I'm just curious. If we have a girl, I think it should be relatively quickly. Brian doesn't feel the same way.
I didn't get my first piercings until I was in the 6th grade and I was miserable. It hurt so bad and I was so scared. I remember my mom and dad arguing over it. My dad had told her if they had it done when I was a baby like he wanted, I wouldn't have rememberd the pain. Sorta like shots, they hurt when they get them, but then it's over and they forget about them.
So I'd like to do it early, but I think I'm going to get A LOT of resistance from Brian on this one.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Things going ok today, but then again it's only 10a.m. I returned my itchy sweater yesterday but I went to a Sears outlet so they had a small selection of maternity clothes. I'll wait until I go to the bigger store to see what I can get. I looked at slip on shoes but that didn't work either.
By the end of my walk around Sears I was exhausted. I ended up having to sit down before I left the store. I felt so old.
Brian also said I'm starting to waddle when I walk :/
So I know I may be opening a can of worms with this, but I'm just curious. If we have a girl, I think it should be relatively quickly. Brian doesn't feel the same way.
I'm thinking if we have a girl, I'd like to get her ears done as a baby (not sure of the actual age - but for some reason I think I've heard 2 months is the optimal time to get them done).
As for resistance from DH... we honestly haven't even discussed ear piercing, but I doubt it would be an issue for him. He comes from such a male dominated background and knows nothing of girl stuff (he only has a brother and 80+% of his cousins are all male), so I think he'll let me take the lead on this one.
Besides, he got the final say in getting DS circ'd, something I wasn't really crazy about - but I felt was important that he get the final say in boy "issues."
Maryanne: I am rh negitive also. :( not to thrilled about getting that shot but oh well it is part of it, I guess.
QOTD: If you have a girl, if and when will you get her ears pierced?
my mother got mine pierced on my 1st birthday. I did not have much hair til I was close to 2 so I guess she got sick of everyone calling me a boy. lol .... Yes, If I have a girl I will get hers pierced prob. around 6 months.
QOTD: If you have a girl, if and when will you get her ears pierced?
I decided when I had my DD that she could get them pierced if and when she wanted to. I remember it being a big rite of passage when I was 7 and I was super excited about it.
I don't have anything against doing it young, I just didn't want to have to take care of them and I wanted her to make the decision herself. Though with people STILL calling her a boy at 15 months I'm having second thoughts. :D
This too is another reason for wanting to do it early. I don't want to have to dress her in pink every single day so people know she's a girl.
I guess I should know if we're having a girl before I really go into this :rolleyes:
i don't have a DD yet and won't know what this one is until late January but my stance on the issue is the same as above. I think babies are awfully cute with pierced ears and I even agree with the not mistaking a girl for a boy, but my parents wouldn't let me have my ears pierced until I was 12 and my grandmother snuck me out at 10 to get them done. hindsight makes me think my parents knew all along but it is one of my favorite memories as a kid. so I think I'll wait.
aside from the constant cramping I have had since day one, I feel pretty darn good. most of my nausea has disappeared and I'm not tired even close as much as I was. I just wish these damn cramps would stop scaring the crap out of me!!!!
Maryanne I am RH negative and DH is RH positive (which is the "problem" combination) and it has been no big deal at all. I have gotten 2 RhoGam shots with each pg. One at 28 weeks and one after delivery. Most women have no issues with the RH factor so long as they get the RhoGam as directed by their OB.
Ear piercing
I will wait until my daughter is older. I would say 12 but I am not stuck on that age. More likely, once she is 10 or older and asks for them I will let her. I am not a big fan of earrings on babies (although that is simply a personal preference)
Rh Negative ~ I'm also Rh negative and DH is Rh positive. I had to have a Rhogam shot with DS at 28 weeks, but didn't need one after he was born as he is Rh negative as well. I don't think many woman have an issue with it as long as they have the shot.
Ear Piercing ~ I'm undecided on this. I had mine done when I was 3 years old because I wanted it done. If it's a girl I imagine we'll cross that bridge when we get to it.
Girls and ear piercings- I will do it as early as I can if I have a girl. DH and I haven't discussed it, but I don't see him disagreeing to it. There's no real reason for it, I always had my ears pierced when I was little and I thought it looked cute and girly in pictures. I don't know anyone that has regrets about doing it so early.
QOTD: If you have a girl, if and when will you get her ears pierced? -I think I will wait until she asks for it, or she can take care of them herself. I got mine done at 5 and screamed my head off and then they kept getting infected and literally popping out of my ears (I asked for them), my mom got tired of it and made me take them out. I didn't get them done again until high school I believe. I was too scared!
I'm 15 weeks today.
Yeah, that whole trying to take myself off Zofran today....didn't happen. I got the pukies and my script wasn't ready until 2 so I was miserable til then. I guess it helps more than I thought.
Hi Ladies- it sounds like everyone had a nice holiday.
Ear Piercing: We have decided to wait until Mia asks for it. If that's when she's 3, that's fine- if it's not until she's 12 that's OK too. I always wanted it to be her decision.
As for when to have it done- I think you have to wait until the baby has theie 4 month immunizations. I'm not positive on that though- I think it's tetanus they should be protected from prior to getting the piercing. Even though the needles are sterile, I guess they just want you to be on the safe side. Some peds offices even do them.
Rh negative: The shot's not too bad at all. It goes in the hip/butt and it depends on who gives it. I've had plenty of them- 2 with Mia, 1 with each miscarriage and one with this pregnancy already because of some spotting. As far as I understand it, it's not an issue if you have the shots when you're supposed to. I'm not sure about what they do if you have an amnio though- not sure if that raises the risk of blood mixing or not.
Coughing and sneezing pains: I have them all the time- sometimes so severe it's hard not to double over. Unfortunately the cold I've had for 3 weeks isn't making it any easier. And I also have that nice pee when I cough or sneeze thing (I swear this baby is growing on my bladder:rolleyes: ).
If that's not bad enough- I'm on progesterone suppositories. They have a tendancy to pop right back out with a good cough or sneeze too. DH finds that part pretty entertaining- glad my pregnancy can bring him some joy:rolleyes:
Ultrasound: I'll be one of those waiting it out. Last time around my doc wouldn't do one until 20 weeks. My guess is that things haven't changed with that policy. That puts me in the beginning of Feb.
connorsmommy: I love the name Aubrey. Our babysitter's name is Aubrey, so I could never name a girl that- but I love it just the same.
Nothing new around here. We had a house full over the holidays. The last of them went home today. It was exhausting. I felt like all I did was cook and clean for days. And as a reward, I got to go back to work today- Yipee:rolleyes:
Nothing for the baby for Christmas- mainly because no one knows. It's getting harder to hide, but hopefully no one has figured it out yet. I'd like to hear that h/b one more time before I tell anyone. Actually, after two miscarriages, I'd like to wait until I have the baby to tell anyone, but I'm thinking that's a little unrealistic;) .
I did break down and buy some maternity clothes at Old Navy Monday. I was able to get 3 pairs of pants and 2 shirts for $62- definately some great sales. After my next appt, I'll head to Motherhood and buy some more. It's kind of nice having to buy winter maternity clothes after they go on clearance.
Nikosmommy Wow, I bet that was wonderful to sleep in so late!
jcharley You can't help what position you wake up in. For some reason my back has been really comfy to lay on, never has been before. You should be fine. Have you looked into the Snoogle Pillow? Very comfy!
RH How do you guys know if you are + or -? I assume since I was fine with my DS I am fine this time around?
Peircing ears I think I would like to wait til my DD would be old enough to decide for herself. I didn't get mine done til I was about 5-6 years old.
QOTD:When you suddenly find yourself (suddenly being the key word here) hungry do you find that until you eat something there is no distracting yourself with other things until the kitchen and/or food joint is nearby? Yes!
Do you all get pains when you sneeze or reach and stuff like that? It hurts the bottom of my tummy. I get them mostly when I am laying in bed and roll over. Or when I have to pee really bad! Mostly when I wake up having to pee. I believe they are round ligament pains. Totally normal.:)
Runny nose/stuffy nose My nose has been stuffy on and off since I had a cold. I just read that it is common to have stuffy noses while pg.
Diaper bags I didn't seem myself spending a ton of money on a diaper bag, but the one we got orginally was just too big. I ended up using the one from the hospital for awhile. Then I found the Fleurville Mothership bag. I fell in love with it. It was $150, but well worth the money! The snap broke off of it, and I was able to send it to them for free repairs and they paid for shipping back to me! They were great to deal with. I got the Escape Pod for Christmas. And I am wanting the Sling Tote now.
Does anyone have the Snoogle Pillow? I totally recommend it! It is so comfy!
excitedbride- she is in the foreign service and will travel to a new country every 2 years until she decides to get out which I don't see happening anytime soon. currently she is living in Uruguay.
so my boss told me yesterday that my back side looked like it was "under construction." I guess it's good to know that I am growing a little with this pregnancy but I didn't expect it in my backside nor did I expect my boss to point it out! we aren't that close! and I've only gained 4 pounds. sure, zero would be better but 4 isn't that bad. anyway, now if only my belly would start to look like it was under construction!
what is everyone doing for New Year's Eve? it's such a party night and I am not one of those women that is good at watching other people party when I can't. looks like we are going to be quiter boring this year and stay home.
15 Weeks 3 Days
When you look at the numbers, it doesn't look like that long, but I feel like I've been pregnant forever already. In a good way!
My daytime fatigue has been gone for weeks, but yesterday it returned full force. I felt like a total slug and could barely move all day. Luckily, I'm off work this week and could just lay around and nap. I felt a bit better in the evening and managed to vacuum.
Being home all week was sooooo great. It really has me looking forward to being a SAHM. I realize that will be different than just being home and able to do whatever I want, but I'm looking forward to being able to focus my attention on my home and family, instead of constantly feeling like my house is dirty, I haven't cooked enough, and I'm always behind at home. It's gonna be tough to go back to work next week.
NYE DH was asked to work that night and since I can't do much anyway, he agreed to work. I also have no desire to watch other people party when I can't. So, I will be home, trying to stay awake until midnight.
Good morning, everyone!
I should take a picture of my ring. Maybe that will motivate me to actually download my belly pictures off the camera and post them here!
My appointment last night went well. I gained three pounds this month. It is really odd to have a doctor say, "You gained some weight. That's great!" The office was pretty quiet so I got right in to see the doctor. We talked a bit about sleeping and she said the left side is best. However, if I sleep on my right I need to be all the way on my side--not leaning on my back at all. She also said I could sleep on my back if I put a small pillow under the small of my back on the right side--to shift the center of gravity. Good tips. The heartbeat was so loud and strong this time around--much easier to hear than last time. It was awesome. The doctor is guessing that I'm having a boy based on the heartrate of 136, but she also said she's been wrong a lot!
My big ultrasound is scheduled for January 12th! I also have to decide whether I want to keep next week's appointment for the AFP. What have you all decided about this test?
As for the QOTD:
Peircing ears: I didn't get mine peirced until I was in third grade. As others have said, I remember it being a very big deal to finally get them peirced. If I have a girl, I won't rush to pierce her ears. I really don't care if people mistake her for a boy.
When you suddenly find yourself (suddenly being the key word here) hungry do you find that until you eat something there is no distracting yourself with other things until the kitchen and/or food joint is nearby? Yes!
Do you all get pains when you sneeze or reach and stuff like that? It hurts the bottom of my tummy. I get these pains mostly when I sneeze first thing in the morning while still in bed.
Runny nose/stuffy nose: My nose has been really stuffy and dry this week--just as my Babycenter update for this week warned!
Diaper bags: I haven't given diaper bags much thought yet. I don't see myself spending a ton of money on a bag, but I wouldn't be surprised if I received one as a gift.
amurphy: I am getting the AFP test done Tues. Jan 3rd - my doctor said it would be good idea for me since I have a neice with Downs and just to check for spina bifida. He did warn me that some peoples AFP test come back bad even when nothing is wrong like 3 out of 100 people. If ours comes back like something is wrong then we would talk about an amnio. wow your u/s is on the 12th ... that will be here before you know it. It will be neat to finally see/hear what everyone will be having unless they are surprises. We will also be scheduling my u/s - I want it done soon as possible & I really hope Baby "shows the goods" for us.
the sneezing -- I've been getting the sharp pains down low if I don't "brace" myself and tighten my muscles first. I never had that with Connor until i was MUCH farther along...
Runny/stuffy nose... I don't have that. Or at least, it isn't anything out of the ordinary. HEre, the air is so dry, the inside of my right nostril usually just cracks and bleeds all winter long. Come to think of it, I've had very little cracking and bleeding the last few months, so perhaps that's b/c of the pg.
The diaper bag issue... we've had a few over the past couple of years. By far our favourite one has been this large black microfibre one from Babies R Us here in Canada. Here's a link to the bag we have:
http://www.toysrus.ca/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10051&catalogId=10052&langId=-1&productId=40251
We've had it for a year and a half as our main large diaper bag, and have no complaints other than it's too big for some occasions (ie. running to the store). But it's great - there's enough room in there for several diapers, wipes, extra clothes, misc snacks and toys (important when you have a toddler!), plus the two outer side pockets are insulated and can hold fat sippee cups, unlike other diaper bags I've owned. THere's so much room in this bag that I can also throw in my digital camera (and case), wallet, cel phone, and other misc things for a whole day away from home. In fact, it's *my* carry-on when we fly. You can even remove the inner liner to give it a good scrubbing if something spills inside. They also have this bag in a slightly smaller messenger bag version, but I didn't like that one b/c the front flap on that one goes right over the main pocket. The flap on OUR bag only goes over the FRONT pocket. Anyway, after other diaper bags have failed us (and fallen apart after 6 months), this diaper bag is STILL going strong.
I wish I hadn't wasted my money on other diaper bags before this one -- I used to cringe at spending more than $40 on a diaper bag, but to get a good one, it's worth the splurge. Though, I must confess, I also recently bought a Kecci Venetian for myself and a Kecci Voyager daddy bag for DH. We haven't used the Voyager yet, but the Venetian is alright when I don't want to look like I'm carrying a diaper bag (though I wish the Venetian had more compartments inside).
***************
The acne update...
I'm 15 1/2 weeks right now, and almost right on schedule, the acne that I complained about a few days back seems to be subsiding! I have a clear blemish-free face for the first time in a long time... and I just have one pimple (center of my chest...yuck!) left that's not quite cleared up. I remember the acne mostly going away around 16 weeks last time, so I'm glad that it's doing the same thing this time!
Shoudaeloped Sounds like your sister has quite the job!
AFP test We opted not to do it, as I would not get an amnio if needed. Too big of a risk for me.
18 weeks tomorrow-big u/s in in 5 days!!!!!
Diaper Bags-I got a "kecci fake" last night at TJMAXX for 20 bucks-it was adorable but my husband hates it because it's girly. It's by Baby Essentials in gold satin with multicolored dragonflys on it. I love it! It will be perfect if the next little person is a girl.
Niko's Mommy-I am a Pedi nurse and sometimes do ear piercing in the office. We usually wait until the babies are 2 months and have never had any problems with infection at this age because they don't notice them. I think I would probably do it early if baby's a girl.....
Hey girls! I've been MIA because we just moved and don't have our internet connection back up yet plus I've been on vacation from work.
I had my appointment today. I lost another 2 pounds but my BP was good and so was the baby's HB. She put the doppler on and right away it was there, but this baby is a mover and was gone and she had to chase it around my belly for a couple minutes to find it again. HB was in the 140s this time so I think it was floating around during a nap. This kiddo is going to give no indication of its gender ahead of time. Last time the HB was 160s so the old wives' tales are tough to trust for me. We schedule the big u/s for January 24th at 8am!!! I was a little bummed she wanted me to wait 4 weeks, but I guess I'll only be 20w2d.
My nausea is pretty much gone now. No vomiting for over a week and I'm forgetting to take my Zofran almost all the time since I feel fine. I'm tired out, but other than that feeling good.
I promise to try and update this thread later today.
Waiting for the big U/S is the worst. I just wanted to get through the holidays so quick, it's all I'm looking forward to lately. It's definitely the nosy/planner in me....
Hello all! Glad to hear everyone had a good christmas. We got lots of great stuff, but not very much for the baby. I wasn't really disappointed tho since this was the last christmas where it was about me and not the baby. I know that sounds bad, but its true. I did get $100 to BRU to help with the bedding that we will be going to buy the weekend after my birthday when we finally know the sex. Only 13 more days till BIG u/s!! (and my 27th birthday :rolleyes: )
It takes me so long to catch up on here so Ill do my best and come back tomorrow for the rest! :)
QOTD:
Peircing ears: I don't like them on little babies personally. I had to wait until I was like 12, but i'm sure if bean is a girl it might be younger than that, we shall have to see when the time arises.
When you suddenly find yourself (suddenly being the key word here) hungry do you find that until you eat something there is no distracting yourself with other things until the kitchen and/or food joint is nearby?
When I'm hungry there is nothing that I think of but eating and how soon it can happen.
Do you all get pains when you sneeze or reach and stuff like that? I do get a sharp pain in my lower abs, but my main problem right now is peeing a little when I sneeze. I really should get to doing my kegals. :rolleyes:
Runny nose/stuffy nose:Um, yeah you could say that. For the last 7 days I haven't been able to breathe out of my nose, and just today it has started running like crazy. My poor nose is so red at the tip I look like Rudolph. Seriously I think it might be a infection or a cold coming on, but nothing my dr said i could take for it works. Poopy.
Diaper bags: I LOVE some of the expensive ones but unless its bought for me I can't see buying one. DH and I like either a black messenger type with a ergonomic strap or this black Eddie Bauer backpack with comfort straps. Both run about $40-$50 and have TONS of room.
TTFN!
Hope everyone is doing fine.
Our babybag is a napsack/backpack type of thing. I looked on the BRU website and it wasn't there. Brian said he didn't want a girlie baby bag. I actually like our napsack. It fits tons of stuff and I like that it has two straps so it's weighing down on one shoulder.
OK, so is anyone else's boobies hurting as much as mine do? OMG, they're tingling, pinching and it feels like someone is standing on them. I don't remember if they hurt this much with Niko. All I do know is THEY ARE GI-HUGE-ICK as Brian likes to put it :D
Nikos Mommy- I like the back pack idea. We have a small chinsy bag for quick trips that you can just throw a diaper and some wipes into and another large one with all the pockets and gadgets for when we plan to go out for a couple of hours. I think we will also use a back pack for family visits and such since you never know how long you are staying.
Okay, for those of who have not checked out Old Navy go ASAP. I found a ton of cute sweaters and shirts for 1/2 off. I didn't spend over $15 on any item. I also got a pair of their sweatpants with the wide elastic band too. I had a pair of gray ones and I live in those on the weekends.
I went to Target as well today but it really varies on store. In one store they will have racks and racks of maternity and others with have absolutley nothing.
After a day of sitting at my desk with the top button of my J. Crew pants undone, I decided I had enough and had to go shopping tonight. My Old Navy had nothing. I find that the pants are too short for my taste. I did find one wrap top for $9.99. However, I hit the lottery at Gap. I got a pair of black pants and a pair of khakis for $29 each and a really comfy black skirt for $35. The sale is better in the store than it is online. I just wish the maternity section was bigger. You really have to dig to find anything in your size. Happy shopping!:D
I'm one of those people who is planning on not finding out the baby's gender....but now I'm kinda torn. I kind of want to know. I've been thru a lot with this baby already and I think it might help me to know who I'm doing all this for ;) . My husband is not making it easy, first he says he 100% does not want to know, now he's like "whatever you want is fine with me". I wish he'd make a decision for me so I wouldn't have to :) . Then if he did I'd be pissed too! I don't want to dissappoint him, but he needs to speak up if he does not want me to know. And I don't want to find out and then miss getting to hear the whole "it's a boy/girl" and Dh getting to run out and tell everyone. My cousin was finding out what she is having yesterday and I told DH she'd email me today and I'd find out what she's having. He totally wasn't paying attention to me and gets this HUGE smile on his face and says "you're find out what were having tomorrow?" like he's all happy. I was like no, that's not what I said but why did you look so happy and he's like oh, I was just confused. I didn't realize what you said, whatever, whatever. I said does a part of you want to know and he said yes, but I don't care either way if we wait. Ugh, decisions, decisions...
I'm sorry I haven't been able to make it by much, but thinking of all of you and wanted to wish each and every June mama a Happy New Year since I won't be back online until the end of next week.
Also, a big warm welcome to Izzy.
I feel like I'm really starting to "pop" these days. It's unreal... Christmas was lots of fun. Both of our parents also bought some presents for the baby, which was unexpected and really nice of them. I have quite the collection going in my closet for someone who's not quite 15 weeks yet! Too funny!
Take care and I'll see all of you again in a week!
15w 1day
I had my monthly OB appointment this morning. All is good. No weight gain yet (which is normal for me each pg). HB in the high 140s. No maternity wear yet, but I am just feeling frumpy:( and chubby. I got my NTT/Quad screen results back and my risk for Down went from 1/129 (based on age) to 1/5500 (based on the US and bloodwork). Woohoo! And I've started feeling the baby move in the past few days!
Welcome Izzy. Happy New Year to all!
Hello All :D Hope everyone is doing good.
We're doing surprisingly ok today. I had 1/4 of a pint of chocolate peanut butter ice cream for lunch today :o It was actually good too :)
As for NYE one of the moms in the play group that we joined here is having a family party. So we're going to go there and probably leave right after midnight. Brian will be drinking, I'll be driving so I don't want to be out too late after the crazies start going home. I figure they'll still be partying around 12:30 so that would be a good time for us to start home and it's only a 1/2 hour drive.
I can't believe in two weeks I'll be 1/2 way to my 40 weeks. Actually being they're inducing me at 39 weeks, 19.5 weeks will be 1/2 way there for me.
I just wanted to let you all know how special you all are to me. We've started a journey together this past year and it's given us a bond that can't be broken. I look forward to 2006 (namely end of May to beginning of July) and all the years afterwards. Be safe this weekend if you're venturing out.
Hi, all! Just thought I'd pop in and say Happy New Years. Only 20 min to NY's down here in sweltering Queensland and I'm bumming around on the computer coz I haven't had a chance to do that all day. :) How thrilling.... :p
Welcome Izzy! You're really close to our due date! :)
QOTD's that I haven't answered yet:
Boobies-My goodness is this another phase of boob growth. I had really tender boobs the first trimester and then it kinda went away around 12 weeks but today....YEE-OUCH! Back with a vengeance so I'm not sure if it's a one off or if the pain is back to stay.
Piercing-I remember being super excited looking forward to "the age" when I was allowed to get mine pierced. It was a trauma coz I was the firstborn and my mum had trouble with me looking after them and then the gun got stuck in my ear the 2nd time they had to try piercing my ear so it was dismantled around my ear and I was too scared to let them manually put in the earring so I was a pirate for a year until I finally got the last piercing done....:cool: But I think I'll let any girls we have decide for themselves when and if they wanna get earrings.
Diaper Bags or what we call Nappy Bags since we call diapers: nappies...anyway enough vocabularly lessons my answer is that we really haven't thought about it. I don't want something super cutesy looking, it needs lotsa internal pockets for all the itty-bitty stuff that floats around and can never be found and plenty of space for my wallet and phone and stuff since I'm not going to cart around an extra bag for my stuff.
Ultrasound-We're going to wait. DH is very adament that he'd like a "surprise" at the end not in the middle....his reasoning is that it's like peeking at your Christmas present berfore Christmas Day and that's not on....:rolleyes:
Niko's Mommy- that was a very nice sentiment and thank you for putting into words what I have been thinking. this is a great group of women!
jbenny- nice belly shot! you can really see some growth there!
I am having a hard time really understanding how my belly is growing. that has typically been my "problem" area in the past and it just feels bigger to me. DH can totally see a difference though and I am inclined to believe him. I might take a belly shot today to see how it looks and consider posting it.
Happy New Year everyone! be safe tonight if you are venturing out!
Shoulaeloped My belly has always been my problem area as well, and I am always wondering if it is growing because of the baby or just because I'm eating too much!
Thanks ladies for the warm welcome! Happy New Year celebration to everyone. Let's all wish for a healthy 2006!
I had my 16 week screening done yesterday. I should get the results from the triple screen within a week. I have only gained 1 lbs. The doc expect that it should start going up this month (she said that last time!).
Boobies- They were really sore at the beginning (one of my first cue that we were pregnant). It has tapered off now. But they do appear to keep growing. :eek:
Ultrasound- Our 20 week u/s is scheduled for Jan 26. The doc said that if the baby cooperates, we'll be able to tell the gender. I am pretty excited.
Just wanted to pop by and wish everyone a happy new year! :) 2006 is our year!!
new QOTD: Maternity wear - how are you making out on filling your closet so far?
How is everyone doing with maternity wear? With Connor, I only had winter stuff (and not much, to tell you the truth), and would have needed some spring stuff in the final weeks if he'd gone to his May 1 due date rather than March 29. This time, I need something for every season. I am now in maternity clothes full time, so I need winter AND spring AND a few summer pieces as well. So, yesterday, I went shopping to fill my closet a little better, and I'm now set for winter and spring (and summer if you count the shorts I got on clearance back in August...and the tees I am borrowing from a friend for our trip to Maui in a couple of weeks)
I went to Gap, Old Navy and Thyme Maternity (a canadian chain).... $110 later, I came away with 9 tops (turtlenecks, polos, long-sleeve T's and a summer shirt!) and one pair of cargo-type pants... a $390 full retail price value! :) So I'm pretty psyched about the haul I made.
I do need more (nicer) maternity pants but I'm waiting to find out about my contract at my job over the next couple of weeks. My contract ends Feb. 10, and they're going through job cuts this winter, and based on who has been cut in my dept., I'm pretty sure my contract won't be renewed. If it is renewed, I'll commit myself there fore another 2 1/2 months - up until May 1. What does that have to do with pants? If my contract is renewed, I'll buy a couple of pairs of dress pants to get me through the next few months. If it isn't renewed, I'm going to stay at home starting mid-Feb, and will just buy a pair or two of casual pants (jeans, cords, whatever...) So until I know what is going on with my job, I won't buy more pants... :)
01-01-2006, 08:31 AM
connorsmommmyWow! What an awesome shopping trip! Good for you!
I have enough maternity clothing to get through the winter, as long as everything continues to fit! I have one pair of jeans from Old Navy that I only wore once, I tried to put them on the other day and they were too small! I think I shrank them.;) Luckily, I wear scrubs to work, so that's not a problem and I usually just go right to PJ's or sweats when I get home at night. I really only needed some casual stuff for the weekends. Closer to spring, I'm going to go again for t-shirts (I got a couple on clearance already) and some capris and shorts.
gina73 Good luck with your move.
Pink and Kaeden'sMommySorry to hear you're sick again! Hope you feel better soon.
BB's Mine aren't sore, but I think they're growing again. I was a 34A pre-preg and I usually used the middle or inside clasp, I went to a 34C using the last clasp. I think I'm going to have to get a bigger band size and that might be okay for awhile.
NYE My most pathetic NYE ever! I will admit to being a bit of a party girl, so I really felt like a loser last night. It's well worth it, though. DH was asked to work, so I told him to go ahead. I knew a party or going out wouldn't be much fun. At 9, I went up to bed and read for awhile. I had New Year's Rockin' Eve on, and fell asleep a little after 10, but woke up at 11:50 to see the ball drop. I'll just have to make up for it next year, I guess.
Happy and healthy 2006 everyone!
New Year's Eve was okay. Went to a friend's house. They drank, I ate ;) .
Left right after 12, I was tired and my tummy was hurting. We had a fun time reminiscing all night. DH has known all these people since Jr. High and I've known them all since HS so there were a lot of funny stories (all or which I had heard tons of times before, but still funny :rolleyes: :D ).
Stomach problems are still here, we'll see how it goes.
I'm hoping to make it to Petsmart today, poor dog hasn't been kept in bones and treats since I got pregnant :( . She's not used to this lifestyle! I also want to go to Bed Bath and Beyond and use my gifts cards. I need new bathroom stuff, pillows and a back door mat. Then we are off to the MIL's for black eyed peas, cabbage and corned beef, which I usually like. Hope it doesn't make me yakk today.
Oh, and we totally forgot to make resolutions, must do that today!
my NYE was actually pretty good this year. similary to jbenny, I am also quite a bit of a party girl. so I was a little nervous about being around a bunch of partiers while I stayed sober. but we went out to dinner and then to another friends house and I drank several O'Douls, a virgin Pina Colada and ate like there as no tomorrow. I'm a little nervous about my weigh-in this Tuesday! as the Designated Driver, I was able to determine the time to leave and I lasted until about 12:20am. not too bad. there was only one really drunk girl and she was quite annoying but everyone else could carry on a conversation so I can't really complain.
regarding maternity clothes- I have one pair of jeans and one pair of work pants. I'm not ready for maternity tops yet but I definitely need more pants. hoping to go shopping tomorrow for a few new additions.
kelly and pink- hope you feel better soon!
NYE: We had dinner at DH's parents. The usual celebrating crowd was there, so it's usually a fun gang. The younger bunch always goes out after those dinners. I was completely pooped, especially with that stuffy cold that just started. So ~10pm DH was kind enough to drive me all the way back home (~20 miles) and went back to meet them. I think they went to a casino. I was really happy to be in bed by 11. I tried to watch tv until 12 but I passed out.
Maternity clothes: Last week when I visited my sister she gave me a lot of her maternity clothes. It's still tough for me to figure out what I will wear since I am still ok in most of my regular clothes. The stash she gave me (mostly jeans and tees) lacked nicer working clothes. I was at the mall yesterday and stopped at Motherhood. I bought a pair of black pants for ~$20 (I think she said it's their most popular), a dress shirt for $10 and a long sleeve t-shirt for ~$15. There were other possibilities there but I figured I'd wait until I'm ready so I don't buy useless stuff.
As for NYE...we bagged on our tixs to see Trey and the Black Crowes at MSG...I was having a really bad day. By the time the show started (and while I was at work) I had thrown up 5 x's....didn't want to risk long lines of drunk people to get into a stall in an emergency.
So I spent my first NYE at home in 20 years...watched the Giants game and the ball drop .
NYE: We went to have sushi with some friends- YUM! Then we went back to their house and some other people came over and we had chocolate fountain treats for dessert- it was quite yummy! I actually made it until 1ZM, which is late for me even pre- pregnancy:)
Maternity My sister gave me a bunch of spring and summer stuff, but I need a few more winter things. I still have 2 pair of jeans that I bought in a bigger size that fit, and a pair of black strtchy pants that fit that I have worn to EVERY Christamas event:eek: My mom got me some stuff from Target for Christmas, but I returned it all except 2 long sleeve T's. The only pants I seem to like are the low rise ones w/ the short band all the way around. The elastic back ones make my butt look enormous, and the higher panel ones are just silly at this point. I am going to try Old Navy and Penneys and see if I can find a few things to get me through a couple months.
Today is "putting away Christmas stuff and clean the house" day! Yuck! Oh well, then it is done!
Hope everyone had a safe and Happy new Year!!
Hello All :D Welcome to 2006, the year our babies will be born :D
We had a nice evening. We went over the moms house around 6:30. There was tons of food, which I made sure I had plenty of ;) Brian had a few beers and some wine. Although he didn't have a buzz, he didn't want to drive home just in case we got pulled over. We tried to stay until midnight but had to leave around 11:40 cause Niko was still awake and starting to get cranky. We were so surprised that he 1. stayed up that late, and 2. didn't start to get cranky until around 11:40. We were in the car at midnight so we didn't get to kiss.
Niko slept until 10 this morning which was very nice. Brian and I got to sleep in too. We lounged around all day and Niko is still in his pj's.
Brian has tomorrow off so we'll probably lounge again.
8 MORE DAYS UNTIL MY BIG U/S :D :D :D
HAPPY NEW YEAR!! I am still trying to grasp that last year is over, I mean, it went sooo fast!
Our NYE was fun. We wanted to go out, but we wanted to stay home. So we did both. We went to my sisters new house to see it, then around 7 went to the casino to gamble and hang out. We got all dressed up and stuff (I even blow dried my hair for the first time since being pg, so I felt pretty!!)
We hung out there until 1030ish then headed home. We had gotten some snacks from the store earlier in the day and got in our pj's, snacked and watched the ball drop. So it was fun, and just us ;)
Only 10 days till my BIG U/S! I keep having bad dreams that the baby is shy and we don't find out.Hmmmm....
Unfortunately I have to work 9-6 today (blech!) so I gotta run.
Have a great day ladies!
I just saw our thread at the very bottom of page 1 so I though I'd give us a bump. :p
Not sure how many people are online today but I thought I'd throw out a QOTD: Is anyone else feeling paranoid? I know that you're supposed to feel secure after the first trimester but I am not. I think it is because I am having fewer symptoms and not really feeling the baby yet. I'm pretty sure I've felt him/her, but I'm not positive. I think that part of my issue is that there seem to be a lot of moms that I know from my first pregnancy who have lost babies around the 16-19 week mark in the second pregnancy. The causes are different - incompetent cervix, undiagnosed genetic issues, etc. but I'm still paranoid. I'll be very glad to go to my appointment and hear that heartbeat tomorrow!
Happy New Year, everyone!!!
Only real news here is that I've been told to up my water consumption to almost four liters a day. I started getting some tightening/contracting in the wee hours of Friday morning. I called the nurse and she said I was probably dehydrated (even thought I was already drinking 2+ liters a day). But all that water is making me less hungry. Ugh! The joys of twin pregnancy. Of course, if it's good for the babies, I'll do it. But, man, I feel like I'm putting something in my mouth 24/7.
On the bright side, I finally have a digital camera, so maybe I can post some belly shots once I figure out how. It is a sight to behold. ;)
maternity clothes - This is a sore spot for me. I've been shopping repeatedly and am having so much trouble.
feeling paranoid - Yeah. Big time. The last two weeks were rough. Sorry to hear it's hit you, too, Orange.
16 weeks tomorrow and my next u/s. Keep your fingers crossed that at least one of the kiddos shows us the goods! :p
Happy New Year everyone. Our NYE was fun. We had a progressive house party with 4 neighbor families and their kids. Our 2 year old stayed up til 10:30! I only made it to 11. DH and most of the other adults rang in the new year playing poker at our neighbors house. It was great fun.
My baby boy turns one on Wednesday. 2005 really did fly by.
Paranoid Yes and no. When I was pregnant with Rachel, I was happily unaware of most pregnancy complications and issues. I hadn't been around alot of pregnant women and I was really the first in my circle of close friends to get pregnant (at 34/35!). So I was not paranoid at all. Since then, I have become aware of how little is guaranteed by a BFP and how lucky I have been to have healthy, full term pregnancies. (No stories because I don't want to ruin anyone else's first time pg!). So, while I wouldn't call my self paranoid, the blissful unawareness is gone and I miss it sometimes. I just do the things I know I have control over to try to have a healthy pregnancy. KWIM?
Just got back from the ILs and have been without the internet since Thursday. I need to read up. Just wanted to post that I glad to be back and have my big us in just 16 days.
Yesterday I rolled on my stomach and felt like I popped something. My doctor told me that sleeping on my stomach was okay until I felt uncomfortable. I've been avoiding it, but yesterday I rolled on it. Now I'm paranoid that I popped my something like the amniotic sac. I'm not leaking and keep telling myself that the baby is still well protected. I'm trying not to think to much about it and am just waiting for some reassurance with baby movement.
Going out to run an errrand and will be back to catch up on the last 4 days I've missed.
Orange, you most certainly aren't the only one paranoid.
I have to admit that I have the blissful unawareness that lawyerwifemom describes. But my co-worker has two boys. She was paranoid and did a rent-to-own on a doppler heart sound machine. She has kindly let me borrow it during my pregnancy. I have to admit that it makes me feel at peace even though I don't use it very often.
Have you considered renting one?
NYE: we stayed at home - rented some movies (we watched christmas with the kranks) ... I fell asleep around 1045 & woke back up at 1200 so we could go outside & finish up the fireworks - overall it was a good night. Quiet evening at home with my boys & baby b.
Movement: I felt baby b on Dec 30th - It was one of the wierdest feelings - I was laying in bed on my back & then after about 5 mins I felt some major movement - It was harder than the flutters I felt awhile back.
doctor: I go to the doctor tomorrow for the AFP test - I filled out my pre-admission hopsital papers today .... wooohooo this is really starting to feel real.
Paranoidsometimes .... It will make me feel better to hear the h/b tomorrow. I have thought about buying one of those h/b monitor things from the baby store but it says that you really cant hear the h/b well til the 3rd trimester.
It is hard to believe that in 5 months some of our babies will be arriving ... wow!
I really need to go shopping today ... we went to a banquet/ breakfast the other morning & my black dress that I wear to alot of different functions was too small :( dh was sooo sweet about it he said well that just goes to show that our baby is growing. I almost started crying .... he said dear dont worry about it after the baby is born you will fit back into it. :sigh:
It's comforting to know that I'm not the only one. I confessed to my DH a couple days ago that I was feeling paranoid and that I didn't think my belly was growing anymore and he laughed at me - not for being paranoid, he was very understanding about that, but that I didn't think my belly was growing!
I think that lawyerwifemom hit the nail on the head - for my first pregnancy I was pretty blissfullly unaware. Now that I've been a parent surfing around on the internet for 2.5 years and gottten to know a lot more women, I hear a lot more about what can go wrong. OK, no more talking about that stuff. :p
Izzy, I have thought about it, but I decided not to for 2 reasons: 1. it will make me admit my paranoia and 2. I'm worried that I won't be able to find the heartbeat one day freak out unecessarily when the baby is just hiding or something. If someone offered me one thought I'd take it in a second!
NYE ~ We also stayed home. DS was in bed around 8pm so DH and I watched the Law and Order marathon and were in bed by 10pm. It was a nice relaxing night and just what we needed since we just moved.
Movement ~ I've been feeling the baby move off and on for a couple weeks now. On Friday night I felt a few little thumps. I'm really excited to get some good kicks!
Feeling Paranoid ~ I sometimes feel paranoid, but it's pretty rare. I was also unaware of the potential complications during pregnancy last time around. When I feel paranoid I just think that I'm not cramping, contracting, bleeding, etc. and so nothing should be the case. What will be will be and I trust that God will let my little one be born healthy.
I'm still feeling icky again. Not throwing up, but nauseous and back on the Zofran again. I'm able to eat a little more and have more interest in food so that is a plus. I'm also really tired lately. I just can't seem to get enough sleep. I'm also getting headaches - anyone else been getting headaches lately? Things are going well and I'm so happy that I'm almost 1/2 way there already. I can't believe how fast time is flying.
Now, if only the next 3 weeks would fly by so I could have my u/s...:D
Glad to hear everyone had a good NYE! Ours was low-key as well, just hanging out at BIL's playing games.
Being paranoid: Yes, I feel paranoid at times, especially when I wake up on my tummy once in a while. I always think I am smothering/crunching my poor baby! I did not have any m/s, aside from a bit of nausea here and there, so it was harder for me to grasp that it was real. I have never been blissfully unaware, because I know too many people who have been pg and some who have lost their babies later in pregnancy. In fact, a friend of mine's wife just lost their baby at 24 weeks a couple of weeks ago. She never carries to term, but rarely loses them this late. So I definitely know it is possible, and there is nothing you can do about it if it is going to happen. We all just have to keep thinking positive and we will make it through this together!!
Renting a doppler: I have thought about it and haven't really decided one way or another. Beings I will get to hear the h/b at every appt, I think that might be often enough to keep me sane. :) But definitely, if someone offered to let me borrow theirs, I would definitely accept! :p
Good luck to all those with a big u/s coming up! Hopefully your babies will be willing to show you the goods and we will have a nice variety of babies! :)
We'd basically draw names and buy a gift for whomever we get and ship it off to them. I saw this in another CC thread and thought it would be a lot of fun. Granted, this is probably a bit early but I thought I'd get the idea out there and see if anyone is interested.
kaedens mommy- regarding headaches. I have had them for the past several weeks. quite severe I might add. I talked to me doctor about them and she gave me a prescription for them but I am too nervous to take it. the ingredients include a pretty heavy amount of caffeine and of course they have the "do not take if pregnant" warning label so they sit on my shelf. I have been able to pretty much sleep them away. I hope they go away for you soon.
regarding paranoia. . every minute of every day. with 2 miscarriages under my belt, I am not sure I will ever be at the place of not being paranoid. my doctor has been seeing me every two weeks for peace of mind but those end tomorrow and I start going every month like most people. I kind of thought that after passing 12 weeks which is when I miscarried last time, I would feel better. but those fears have just been replaced with other ones. I do cramp quite a bit but have been told that's stretching. no spotting or anything else. I also know that I am doing everything right and if I am going to lose this baby too, there is nothing I can do about it. lastly, I believe this child is meant to be for me. I keep giving myself positive thoughts and refuse to thing negative ones. we have all made it this far and let's enjoy the ride as long as we can.
renting a doppler- I want to so bad but I know that if there was a point when I couldn't find the heartbeat, I would freak out. so my doctor and my DH have talked me out of it. we'll see how long I can hold out. I can't wait for movement which I haven't felt yet but I know it's still early.
shouldaeloped ~ The cramping may go away if you drink more water - that's what "they" say anyway. Hope you feel at ease soon.
Maternity clothes I am not really liking my clothes from my first pg. lol! I have ordered some stuff from Old Navy and am waiting for that to arrive. I have also bought a few pieces here and there. Luckily I am pg about the same time of year as my first, so it is working out.
Doppler I rented one with my first pg, and my friend has let me borrow hers this pg. It is so nice to have, I just love the peace of mind.
Movement I am pretty sure I have felt my baby, but not 100% positive.
NYE We spent it at home with some family. Watched a movie and had sundae's! They were very good!
Hello All :D
7 more days until my u/s :D Can you tell I'm excited :/
I would love to do a baby shower. I'd love to help any way I can with it. We did it when I was pg w/Niko and we went off of each other's registry, it made it so much easier to buy something.
paranoid: Even though I have a healthy child after my 3 angel babies, I still am paranoid. I don't think it ever goes away.
doppler but I know that if there was a point when I couldn't find the heartbeat, I would freak out.
ITA. I know that I would freak. My niece lent me one with Niko that you get at BRU, and the first time I used it I couldn't find the h/b. After crying to Brian that we were loosing another, he took it, hid it and I didn't see it until we moved this past Aug into our house. I gave it back to my niece. It wasn't worth the stress, IMO, cause Niko was fine.
So I had a burst of energy today and some nesting kicked in. Brian ran some errands so I vacuumed, dusted the living room, cleaned the kitchen and bathroom. Brian was shocked to see that I did all that. He thought he came home to a different house :rolleyes:
I am so excited for my u/s next week that I'm about to jump out of my skin. Next Mon can't get here fast enough for me :eek: Brian decided to take the day off instead of just the morning. The appt is at 9:45 and we have the hour of counseling, and then the hour long u/s. Plus he has an hour drive to work, so by the time he gets to work, it would be time for him to come home. He's going back to school in the Spring for his masters so he's going to do college stuff that day. Me, I'm going to be on cloud 9 :D
I just hope the baby shows us his/her stuff :p
QOTD: Is anyone else feeling paranoid? -Yes, because I still don't seem to be gaining weight and everyone says I look pregnant because of my belly, but I look so skinny (for me) everywhere else. I feel like the baby isn't in there sometimes :( or I'd be gaining weight. It's dumb but I can't help it. Also I was going to the Dr. weekly at first because I'm so sick and now on Jan. 5th (my next appt.) it will be 4 weeks, I'm used to having the weekly reassureance!!!
Be back in a little bit to finish the rest of the QOTD's...
kaedens mommy- thank you for the water tip. I hadn't heard that one before and I was just commenting to DH that I wasn't drinking enough water. I am having to pee every 30 minutes anyway and I guess that's enough to keep me from drinking as much water as I should. I did just get off my couch and out from under my warm blanket to get a huge glass of water though!!!!!
doppler
Sort of PSA:
You may know this, or you may not, I didn't before I looked into it before renting a fetal doppler. I didn't want anyone to be afraid to rent a doppler or to use this and have a scary experience like NikosMommy. The product mentioned by Niko'sMommy at BRU, which I think is this:
Bebe Sounds Prenatal Listener
http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B000056JHM.01._PE11_SCMZZZZZZZ_.jpg
This is not the same kind of fetal doppler used by your doctor, which you can rent. I'm not sure, but I think it's basically just a microphone that you strap to your belly. I read the reviews on BRU.com, most of which were horrible, and many people said that even after being well into the third trimester, they were still unable to find a heartbeat with it.
After reading about it, I went with the rental of a regular medical fetal doppler and I love it. I've haven't had a problem finding the heartbeat, or differentiating it from my own, which is much slower than the baby's. I love having that contact with the baby and for only $20 a month, I don't think you could go wrong this way. I can also hear the baby moving, which is cool cause I haven't felt anything yet. When I find the heartbeat, I often hear it get lower, then louder and louder, which is the baby moving away from and toward the doppler. I also hear what the dr's office told me are kicks. Very cool.
Paranoia Not until today, when I convinced myself that a patient at work jinxed me with a remark about the baby. I feel crazy. We were talking about Christmas and she said, "Well, God willing, you'll have an extra person around next year at Christmas." To me, having to say "God willing" means that there's a chance whatever you're referring to might not happen. I mean, why not say "Next year, you'll have an extra person at Christmas." Why throw in that "God willing", as if something could go wrong? I have myself totally paranoid over it.
I bought some shirts today @ motherhood maturnity .... Thought I would share them with you
$19.98
16.99 uggg online for $12.99
& the other shirt I bought is not pictured online
well I bought one of those bebe sounds monitors today while out buying the shirts (before I read the reviews on here) & I've actually heard the h/b twice on there today & I am very glad I bought it - it was $25 - I don't think it would freak me out if I did not hear the h/b while using it cause it does say on the paperwork in big bold print that there might be times that you will not hear the h/b depending on the babies place/movement, must be used in a quiet place & the mother must be fully relaxed - best time to use is 3 to 4 hours after eating. I used one with andrew (my son) it was not the bebe sounds brand but I was pretty pleased with it also.
sunshine I'm glad that worked okay for you! I read the bad reviews and nikosmommy's story and I just didn't want anyone to get worked up if they used it and it didn't work. I tried on that red shirt at Motherhood, it was sooo cute. I really liked it, but I needed sweaters, so I had to put it back. I'm hoping it might still be there in the spring. You got a good deal! It was $30 when I saw it!
Happy 2006!
NYE: I really didn't feel like going out, but after showering and putting on an outfit that actually fit and looked nice, I was ready for a party. I was actually looking forward to not drinking--not having to worry about going overboard, acting stupid, feeling awful the next day. Our friends had a lot of food and even thought to buy me some sparking juice to sip out of a champagne glass. The night passed very quickly. We ate, played games, chatted, danced, and watched the fireworks over the city. I finally put my coat on and summoned by DH at 3:30 a.m. My DH was so impressed that I made it that late. Me too!
Movement: I'm 90% sure that I have been feeling the baby for the last couple of days. Last night, I felt two distinct flutters while sitting on the couch. Pretty cool!
Paranoid: I'm paranoid to some degree. I think I spent too much time on these boards pre-pregnancy so I don't have the benefit of being "blissfully unaware" of all the complications that can arise. However, I'm trying to trust that this baby is going to be healthy and arrive on schedule.
I keep thinking I feel the baby too, but where IS the baby right now? None of my books really show. Is it still low in the pelvis or higher? Anyone got a pic? What does it feel like?
Hello All :D
Can I please say it :D 6 days until my u/s :D Ok, I'm going a little psycho on the countdown but I'm as excited as I know the rest of you are for yours!!
jbenny I'm not sure which one it was, but it scared the crap out of me. I had told my dr and had mentioned that I was thinking of renting one and she said not to like shouldaeloped. It's a personal thing. She and DH know me and with either one if I can't find the h/b I'd freak. As it is now, if they don't find it right away in the office I panic. I've had too many times where there wasn't a h/b so that brief moment while they're trying to find it puts me over the edge.
pink With Niko, it felt like someone was lightly tickling me from the inside. I *think* the baby is still relatively low. I'm feeling my movements right above my hair line
IMO the best time to feel it now is at the end of the day, when you're laying on your back, still and not disturbed. Close your eyes and try not to think of anything else. I read (and it was true) that being you're moving all day that rocks the baby to sleep, but as soon as you rest, the baby is awake. It makes it tons of fun when you're feeling kicks and karate chops and you're trying to sleep and the baby wants to play :) I often found myself rocking myself to sleep to get the baby to sleep too :/
It's a crappy rainy cold day today. Niko and I are going to stay in and do nothing. I may fold some clothes, but doubt it :o I have a check up tomorrow and meet my new permanent dr. She too lost 3 babies to the same clotting disorder I have so I know she'll understand everything I'm going through. I'm going to miss my dr, but she is highly recommended by her so I feel ok. I just have to reask all the questions again. I guess I should write them down...
Hi Ladies and HAPPY NEW YEAR…
I have been MIA last week.. I was home and I could log and see how you all were doing but I forgot my password at work for CC so I could not write.. so frustrating..
So many good topics here…
NOSE RUNNING… I am so glad I am not the only one.. it is awful… I hate it.. I wake up w/ sinus headaches.. and everything.. I am currently sleeping w/ 3 pillows.. and I have a scratchy throat.. not sure if that is a nasal drip or something else… ugh!
Ears Peirced: Have not thought about it really.. I might wait for a wee bit.
Amurphy: sounds like you had a wonderful Christmas!!! And I am with you w/ the shopping!! I went to Old Navy and NOTHING… I got a few tops and that was about it.. but I am “in between sizes” which totally stinks.. but what can you do…
Izzy: welcome!
Connors: My closet is non existant w/ maternity clothes.. …. I have a few things but I guess I am waiting to buy as needed because some of the clothes I put on (even in small) are swimming on me… and I just feel like if I buy them I might be wasting my money. But I hope to be buying more soon!
Virtual Baby Shower: COUNT ME IN!
Pains: I do get them… glad I am not the only one.
Sunshine: My MIL bought me the same blouse (the red one) for Xmas… and unfortunately my boobs… will never fit into it.. so I had to return it.. :( and I did get a baby heart monitor too….:)
Update on Me: I am pretty sure I felt the baby move as well.. yesterday and then today.. .after I drink hot tea.. it moves.. which I think is kind of funny!!! My big ultra sound is Jan. 24 and last week I had my glucose test and it was not bad at all…
BTW: Great belly shots!!
Doppler I prefer not to use one because I think I would worry if I was unable to hear the HB.
Where's the baby? My understanding is that the uterus is behind the pubic bone until about 16 weeks. At about 20 weeks, it will be almost to your belly button. At about 20 weeks, your practitioner will start to measure the "height of the fundus" as an indication of a normal progression of growth. The measurement from the top of the pubic bone to the top of the uterus will be roughly equivalent to the number of weeks along you are (in centimeters).
I'm sure we'll start getting some exciting announcements soon, so let me sneak in with my anticlimatic one.
They tried to cancel my u/s AGAIN. I complained, so they went ahead and measured the babies. But I felt too embarassed to ask about the sex. So no news on that front until later this month. The good news is it looks like the babies are measuring on track and about the same, and ultimately, that's all that matters.
Can't wait to see how many girls and boys everyone else reports!
Virtual Shower Count me IN!!! :)
Movements I have been feeling the baby a LOT. Yesterday at work I felt a really hard thud and put my hands on my belly and I could swear the baby flipped over or something, it was really hard! DH still swears he can't feel it, but I sure can and I can definetely tell between baby and gas. It's soo cool!
Niko'sMommy- I'm right there with you girl. My u/s is in 9days! and I'm counting every second. That and praying that the baby doesn't act shy about it. ;)
Sunshine-I almost bought that red top this weekend, how are the arms? Are they snug at the top at all?
We are on mandatory overtime for the week and potentially the month, so this board will be my escape from work on breaks.
Have a great day ladies!
P.S I'll have belly shots when I post my u/s pics. On the 14th!!! :)
Hi everyone! Sounds like a good New Year was had by all. Our NYE was nice - we had some friends over for snacks and games to toast in the New Year (and also act as a going-away party). It was pretty funny - EVERYONE thought to bring over a bottle of sparkling cider for me, so we ended up with about 5 or 6 bottles.
I don't really have time for individual shout-outs right now (but y'all should watch out! After we move and I'm jobless, I'll be on here tons...) but wanted to catch up on some topics:
Virtual Shower - sounds like fun, count me in too!
Movements - none here, although I'm on the later end of the group.
Maternity clothes - Clothes in general at this moment are my nemisis. I have two pairs of jeans that fit and that's it. I'm not trying to be frustrated, and I know in my heart that all of this weight gain is my body trying to support a growing baby. But I was pretty tiny before becoming pg, and this sudden growth (about 7 lbs and holding...YIKES!) on a 5'2" frame is something I'm not dealing too well with, especially since I'm a dancer and have to perform this weekend in a not-so-loose costume. Again, if it was all concentrated around my belly, it would be one thing. But it's all around my butt and thighs, which makes pant shopping really difficult. Especially because I'm short. Yesterday I went to Macy's and bought a pair of petite pants one size up on sale that I'll be able to use for about another month. Then I also bought a pair of maternity pants - cargo-style - that I could wear now even though they'd be baggy, but will last me for the rest of the pregnancy. I also got some clothes from my SIL that I'm too small for now, but will be good in another 2-3 months or so.
As for me, things are good - my acne's gotten pretty bad, but I'm going to see a dermatologist today to see if there's anything he can give me that's safe during pregnancy. I found a doctor in our new city (Denver) who was rated the top OB for the past 3 years, and I actually got in! They were sooo nice, and scheduled an appointment for me 2 weeks after we move. So, I have an appointment with my OB here in NYC on Jan 9th, and then with my new OB in Denver on Jan 27th. It's reassuring to know I'll have continued prenatal care.
Good luck to everyone who has upcoming BIG u/s!!! How exciting! I kind of wish we hadn't found out the sex so early, so I'd have a date to look forward to. Hope all those babes are cooperative!
my big u/s is Jan 26th :)
Ramona: the sleeves are fine I went ahead & got a size larger than I normally wear just for growing room
Well, It's a boy, he was waving it proud for Mommy and Daddy. I am ashamed to admit that I was disappointed for about 10 seconds because we already have a 2 year old boy but now I just can't wait to meet him!!!!! Plus, Hubby already gave permission to try for a girl......I'll have to think about that.
