Charting Our Course to the BFPs
http://www.ripleysorlando.com/images2/fertilitystatues.jpg
The fertility statues are known to work for some who rub them around the time of possible conception.
It is said that the baby is the most potent part of the statue.
So rub away! :D It's worth a shot!
Who we are:
This is a group of women using charting (temperatures, CM, CP, OPK/FM results, or a combination of these) to try to conceive and, along the way, are learning a heckuvalot about their own bodies! Many of us use a software program to keep track of our charts as well as allowing us to share them with each other. The most common ones are FertitlityFriend.com and Ovusoft.com.
Your threadmistresses for this thread are Polkadot and who else?!
To our members:
This thread gets very busy at times, so in order to keep things less overwhelming and a bit more organized, we start a new thread each month as well as after 3 BFPs. A link to the new thread is always posted at the end of the current thread to help everyone find their way over. The threadmistress would really appreciate it if everyone would post their updates in Red. That way, if I get a bit behind, it is much quicker to get the thread up-to-date.

KNOWLEDGE IS POWER!
Want to join the fun??
We welcome one and all. It doesn’t matter if you have never charted before or if you’ve been charting to avoid. I am sure you will find lots of help and support in this group.
If you would like to join, CD1 is the time to do it! That way, we can cheer you on
throughout your cycle, rather than 2 days before you test!
Please don't be discouraged by the number of posts in this thread. You don’t have to read the whole thread to join. Feel free to just jump in on the last page. Just read through these first couple of posts and post a reply with the following information and we will get you added right away. Of course, none of this info is a must but we like to know a little bit about one another.

Things I Have Learned About TTC
by WC's Sherylb
* TTC is a journey. You will discover things about yourself that you never expected. You will face fears you never thought you had. You will find joy in little things.
* TTC can bring you closer to your DH, or it can pull you apart. If your marriage is not solid, you will find out quickly.
* No one understands exactly what you are feeling at any given moment, but someone can empathize at least a little bit.
* You will experience an emotional roller coaster ride. There will be highs and lows and fast moments and slow. Sometimes you have to wait in a very, very slow moving line. You may not even get the seat you want. It is not always fun, it can be scary, but in the end it is worth it.
* "Just relax" is the last thing in the world you want to hear from someone, but it is OK if you say it about yourself.
* There will be moments when you question your own decision to start TTC. You will wonder if you should wait or if you should just give up. Those are normal. But you will get past those feelings.
* The blue and green turtle likes to pop its head out! You will hear of someone's pregnancy and turn green with envy and blue inside because it isn't you.
* It isn't fair, it isn't easy, and it isn't pretty. But you keep doing it because the reward is worth it.
* You will be your best friend and your worst enemy. Your body will
surprise you and yet disappoint you.
* Some women do get lucky and conceive right away. Others aren't so lucky and have to struggle to get there. Hope you will be in the first category, but prepare yourself to be in the second.
* Once you decide to TTC, there will be babies and pregnant women everywhere! You could swear there is a baby boom going on!
* You will have questions. No one will ever be in exactly your position, so don't be surprised when no one can give you exactly the answer you are looking for. But there are people that can contribute, so don't be afraid to ask!
* Two lines on a pregnancy test is not the end of the struggle. Pregnancy has lots of struggles in and of itself.

- Common TTC abbreviations
This is a list of some of the more common TTC abbreviations. I know as a newcomer to the TTC threads, it can be hard to keep them all straight. I hope these will help, and if anyone has any they would like added, please let me know!
•2WW: "2 week wait" - The approximate time from possible conception to menstruation due date; Pregnancy tests should be taken near the end of the 2WW.
•AF: "Aunt Flo"; Your period; Menstruation
•AFNW: "Aunt Flo Not Wanted"; the day your period is expected to start, but you are hoping it doesn't!
•AO: anovulatory (cycle without ovulation)
•BBs: "boobs"; breasts
•BBL: "be back later"
•BBT: Basal Body Thermometer; This is used to measure your basal body temperature, when you wake up in the morning, after at least 3 hours of sleep, before you start to move around; Use a special BBT thermometer to take your temperature because they measure the small changes in temperature from day to day more accurately than the regular fever thermometers.
•BCP: Birth control pills
•BD'ing: "baby dancing"; baby-making intercourse
•BFN: "Big Fat Neutral" or “Big Fat Negative”; Negative pregnancy test.
•BF'ing: breast-feeding
•BRB: "be right back"
•CD: cycle day; a particular day in your menstrual cycle (example: CD1 is the first day of your period)
•CL: Cover Line; a visual tool used to separate the low (pre-ovulatory) temps from high (post-ovulatory) temps; a coverline is typically based on the temperatures 6 days prior to ovulation.
•CM: cervical mucous; one of the most useful clues your body can give you in predicting your fertility; it can range from dry, creamy, sticky, or (the most fertile) egg white/watery type.
•CF: cervical fluid; same as cervical mucus
•CP: cervical position; an optional, but sometimes really useful, fertility sign; CP will generally be low, firm and closed before and after ovulation, and high, soft and open during your fertile time.
•DD: "dear daughter"
•DH: "dear husband"
•DS: "dear son"
•DPO: Days Past Ovulation; number of days from your post-ovulatory temperature rise. (Example: 1DPO is the day after your ovulation)
•Endo: endometriosis (can be a fertility problem)
•EDC and EDD: estimated date of confinement (antiquated, but still used by physicians) and estimated date of delivery
•EPT: a brand of pregnancy test, or, generic for "early pregnancy test"
•EW or EWCM: egg white cervical mucus; the most fertile quality CM; it is slippery, clear and stretchy, like egg whites; also EWCF
•FAM: Fertility Awareness Method; the method of fertility and/or birth control that correlates the physical changes you experience during your cycle to predict when you are most fertile
•FF: Fertility Friend, an online (free, for basic services) fertility charting site (website); (could also be formula feeding; check context)
•FM: fertility monitor
•FMU: first morning urine
•FP: follicular phase; the phase before ovulation, where the egg matures in the ovaries
•FRED: First Response Early Detection (pregnancy test)
•HCG: human chorionic gonadotropin; the hormone that is present during pregnancy and what the HPT's and blood test measure to determine if you are pregnant
•HTH: "hope that helps"
•HPT: home pregnancy test; a urine pregnancy test you can take at home
•IMHO: "in my humble opinion"
•IMO: "in my opinion"
•IUI: intra-uterine insemination
•IVF: in vitro fertilization
•KU: knocked up
•LH: leutenizing hormone; the LH surge is what is measured by the OPKs; this hormone signals the egg to burst from the ovary
•LP: luteal phase; the phase of your cycle that begins just after ovulation and continues for 10-18 days, ending with the start of your next period; during the LP, your body continues to build up the lining of your uterus, and produce hormones which would support a pregnancy; this is the time when a fertilized egg can implant into the uterine lining
•NFP: Natural Family Planning; similar to FAM, but with abstinence during the fertile period
•O, Oing, Oed: ovulation, ovulating, or ovulated
•OPK: ovulation predictor kit; tests for presence of LH surge that usually precedes ovulation by 12-48 hours; these tests are quite expensive and not always accurate (if you take medication or depending on your age); these are optional when charting with FF, but if your fertility data is not clear it can bring more light and help interpret difficult cases
•OS: Ovusoft; charting software based on TCOYF
•PCOS: polycystic ovarian syndrome (a fertility problem)
•PG: pregnant
•PIAC: pee in a cup
•POAS: pee on a stick
•RE: reproductive endocrinologist
•SA: semen analysis
•SH: "sweet husband"
•SO: "significant other"
•SYS, SYL : See ya soon! or See ya later!
•TCOYF: Taking Charge Of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler; a book and website about charting and fertility.
•TMI: "too much information" - There is no such thing when TTC!
•TTA: "trying to avoid"
•TTC: "trying to conceive"
•TTFN: "ta-ta for now"
•TTYL, TTYS: "talk to you later" or "talk to you soon"

Yeah for the new Thread!!! Congrats to all the BFPs from last thread...
As for me - CD 4 - start Clomid tomorrow. So crossing my fingers that it goes well.
DH is out of town until THurs & I'm out of town Friday - Wed - so at least he won't have to be around if I have any S/E this month.. :D
When I get back it will be CD12 - so the BD fest will begin then...

My temp went down this morning for the first time in a while, and I started spotting, so maybe this is the mark of AF, and then I can try to figure out when I am actually O'ing!
Dh is so cute- he's been reading up on TTC and when I told him this morning I was spotting, he said "could it be implantation?" :)

4DPO today, not obsessing as of yet. That could be of course because I don't even have any tests at home.
Sare, that's really cute of your DH. I wish mine didn't think I was crazy for doing all this stuff. When I mention it, he just looks at me like "Dear, I love you, but you're nuts!" :p

ajlanden- is there a story here? :p Had some trauma with the thermometer this morning... Sounds like quite an event. :)
I just posted a request for help (http://www.constantchatter.com/showthread.php?t=11933) from OPK users over in Family Planning... I'd love any advice you have for my situation! I am playing a gambling game on my O date...

LOL!!! I hate my da#$ thermometer. The button is really sensitive so sometimes when I hit it it turns on and then back off. Since it is dark I sit there with it in my mouth, half asleep, waiting for it to beep when the DA%$ thing isn't even on. Finally I got it to work this morning and put it down next to me while I woke up a little bit. When I got out of bed I took it to the bathroom with me to look at what my temp was (it has a memory). Well, when I got to the bathroom I notice that somehow it was on again and the memory had cleared. GRRRRRRRR!! Anyway that is my trauma...Aren't you glad you know? :D
I want to see the mystery BFPs!!!

Another positive OPK last night, but not as dark as Sunday's. Still having little O pains on my lower left side. Had EWCM yesterday, but of course it was tinged red since I'm STILL bleeding. Today's temp was still low (I hate that I can't get my FF link to work). So, last night would've been perfect BDing time, but noooooooooo, we couldn't 'cause DH got some kind of stomach bug and spent the night throwing up! Poor guy. He was so miserable and all my selfish little mind could think about, in between running to get him a cool towel, more water, etc., was that he was screwing up our perfect BDing schedule!
Oh well. I see the RE today, so hopefully I'll be able to find out if I've even O'd yet (let's hope that it hasn't happened yet!) and I talked to DH and he said he was so sorry he couldn't do anything last night but that he'll be up for it when I get home today. Good man. :)
AbbysMom and Mrs. M, congrats!! H&H to you both!!!!! :D
ajlanden, so frustrating! Good luck waiting.
CTs Punkin, good travel timing! I hope the Clomid doesn't give you any awful s/e.
Sare79, awww, that's sweet. I hope if it is AF it comes and goes quickly so you can get started on a fresh cycle!

I just spent 2 hours at the hospital with my friend and her baby. I held him and we chatted while she pumped. She told me some little stories about labor that scared the crap out of me. (I am still clinging to the fact that if my sis had 2 easy labors so will I..... please, no one ruin that for me.) Holding her little guy just made me want one so, so bad. Everyone keeps saying "maybe this will be you in 9 months" and I hope they are right!
With my temp going down but my CM drying up noticably I am seriously confused by my cycle, again, but what's new. Just waiting, waiting, waiting.
Congrats MrsM!!!!!

CONGRATULATIONS Abby's Mom and Mrs. M!!! Happy and Healthy 9 months to you!
Threadmistress, please move me to waiting to O. AF arrived 2 days late. :( Got me excited and everything... <sigh> Next month, right? :)
ETA: thank you to all of you who shared your support during my extended LP. I was so anxious, no wonder AF was late! My LP is usually 10-12 days, so it was killing me to be 13 DPO and getting a BFN and no AF... I just wanted *something* to happen, you know? I guess I got my "something"- AF showed up on Sunday. I am actually fairly OK with this, but am hoping December is THE MONTH for ALL of us!!!! :D

Cross-post from another thread. Thought I was in this one...
Hi All! Sorry I've been away for so long.
Had my first RE appt. today. Basically, it looks like IVF is the only option for me. Although my Day 3 tests from back in April looked good for a 39 year old, the doc said he felt the best option for us was IVF. I was happy that DH didn't stop the doc right there, like I thought he would. He's always said he didn't want IVF, but after hearing the doc, he seemed fine with it. We were both glad that our results were good, however they plan to redo my tests and give him a 3rd SA - just b/c they are infertility specialist. They will also do the HSG, but even if there is a blockage the doc said he won't operate. He said most likely it scar tissue from my D&C 8 years ago and you really can't repair the tubes that great if there is a lot of scaring.
Next is finding out what insurance will cover. My company is switching to a new carrier Jan 1 (luckily, I'm the one to help choose the plans!) and I'm waiting for the broker to send me the plan booklet for the carrier we want to go with. Keep your fingers crossed!!
Take care and I'll try to come in tomorrow night to catch up w/everyone else but I will say Congrats to Mrs. M and AbbysMom!!!!

Threadmistress: Can you please move me to: Think I O'ed- Testing 12/12-12/18? Thanks!
Sorry it's been so long since I last posted... I think I missed most of the last thread :o
Congrats to all the BFPS that triggered this new thread! I hope this is the month for all of us still here.
I'm 4 DPO. Things are really busy for me, so I'm hoping that'll make the 2ww a little easier as well.
Applebee - That's great your DH is on board with the next steps with testing and IVF. Good luck with insurance, hope it has good coverage for you!
ajlanden - I've had the same thing happen with the thermometer, where I think it's on, but it's not -- so annoying!
gymwidow - I hope your DH feels better soon, so you can get back to the task at hand!

Just checking in to say hello/goodbye-for-now - today is my last with all-the-time access to a computer for a while, as I am flying to Bangkok tomorrow! As long as I haven't ovulated yet (I am a bit worried because my temp was up ever-so-slightly a hour before the usual time this morning), we'll be TTC our way through SE Asia. I will update when I can, and I hope to see many many BFPs by the time I'm back in February!

Well, I started Clomid this morning... so far so good... (It was only a couple hours ago that I took it, so not expecting too much)
Called the DR and have a U/S scheduled for CD13 - next Thursday - to see if it worked. We shall see... keeping my fingers crossed.
I also have an RE appt for January 12th to discuss the HSG results (left tube possibly blocked) - so just have to sit and wait. I'm secretly hoping that this month will be "our" month and that I can cancel the RE visit :)
Need to have a chat w/ the Hubbie about BD this month. I usually don't tell him "when" i'm fertile, but I think this month I'm going to do the "lets plan this out" and hopefully we'll catch the egg (if there is one).

ok...question...if it doesnt happen for us this month...how do i approach the subject with the dr.
she is the one who suggested reading TCOYF and charting so do you think she will start with at least bloodwork considering that it hasnt been 1 year yet...its been 8 months so i am hoping that i can convince her to at least start with bloodwork....so the question is...if you had this discussion with your dr. what did you ask for? Bloodwork, full workup, SA, or just did what the dr. told you? Thanks in advance....:D
CTs_Punkin
12-07-2005, 10:14 AM
Polkadot - I scheduled an appt specifically to discuss TTC - I went in and told her what I was doing (I haven't been Oing - and it was easy to convince her I knew what I was talking about because I knew how long each of my cycles was due to my charts, etc). So she suggested I start on Clomid, but wanted to do blood work up, and an HSG first to make sure all was OK before starting Clomid. She also recommended my DH get an SA.
Talking to the DR about your concerns & generally they will be able to decide what tests you need....

Sorry to hear about the headache Polkadot! Remember - it ain't over til AF is here! I agree with the PP's thoughts on explaining your thoughts to the doc, going over your charts, and let the doctor/expert give you the answers. It is so great to have a doctor that promotes charting, isn't it? I love that mine is so pro-charting!

RE Update:
I am soooooooooo glad I went to the RE! I wish I had done it months ago. He's really nice, young and energetic and definitely a guy who likes to be aggressive, in a good way, and treat the problems at hand. He agrees that there's no reason to wait around and try a variety of things since we know what my problem is. He also likes to do continuous monitoring of patients, so from now on I'll have all the regular bloodwork and u/s for patients on Clomid. He said I can continue on Clomid for a few months if I want, but that if I want to go right to injectables or IUI, he doesn't see a problem with that. He said anything further he would caution against, since I'm young and healthy, but that we can always discuss that (IVF, etc.) later. I agree completely, and am glad that he's open to doing IUI sooner rather than later. I think personally I'd like to give Clomid alone at least a month or two, maybe, but I'm also not averse to trying IUI in a month or so. Might as well increase our chances even higher!
He did an u/s and told me that I have classic polycystic ovaries - he showed me the rings of cysts on each of my ovaries. He also saw on my right ovary what he said was either a ripe egg about to release, or a fluid-filled sac (corpus luteum) from an egg that had just been released. He said he couldn't really tell from the u/s, but it was definitely one or the other, so it seems that the Clomid worked this month and I'm going to O! I personally think that it's an egg about to release, b/c my temps are still low. He said that's likely and that it's not a big deal that it's relatively late in the month for me to O (I'm CD19 today and he said most Clomid patients O b/w CD15-17). He told me to go home and "have relations" with DH. So I did. Hehe. Thank goodness DH was feeling better. I told him that he's on duty for at least another couple of nights, till hopefully I see a temp rise. He said he has no problem with that!
So for now I have an appt. next Wed. to go in for post-O bloodwork. Hopefully it will confirm that I did indeed O this month. And then we just wait. If this isn't our month, starting next month I'll go in for CD3 bloodwork, then take Clomid again from CD3-7, then go in for a CD12 u/s, then post-O bloodwork again. This office has "monitoring" hours from 7-9 am every single day of the year (except Christmas), so I can go in first thing and get my blood drawn or u/s done and then head to work. Also, they do all their own bloodwork right there in the office, so if I have blood drawn in the morning they said they basically guarantee results that afternoon. How nice! Also, the doctor gave me his email address and told me to feel free to email him anytime with questions or worries or anything. He said when he's not with patients he's in front of his computer and will always make sure to get back to me. I thought that was great!
So I'm feeling very excited and hopeful again. I can't wait to get home and get busy BDing! :D
neenbean, I'm sorry that AF found you. Not again for a long time, I hope!
polkadot, good luck testing! Crossing my fingers for you..... I'm not sure how to answer your question. I went to my dr initially for the constant spotting and that led me to my PCOS diagnosis, and we just went from there. If I were you, though, I'd ask for at least bloodwork and a u/s, which they can do easily right there in the office. That could be your starting point, and from there you may move on to SA or HSG.
Applebee, I'm glad you had a good appt. Sorry to hear that IVF may be the only option, but I AM glad to hear that you do have that option! I'll think some happy thoughts for you that it works out quickly so you can move forward, and hopefully be covered by insurance!
Mayham, thanks, I didn't give him much choice yesterday after I heard what the RE had to say! Luckily he was "up" for it. hehehe I hope you have a quick 2WW. Being busy always helps pass the time!
QuarterCentury, have a great trip!!!
ajlanden, crossing fingers for you!
CTs Punkin, yay for starting Clomid! I hope you have it easy and don't get any side effects. I really only had nighttime hot flashes and cramping last week. And my temps were higher. But that's about all. Definitely let DH know when the prime BD time is. You want to make sure to get that window! I hope you can cancel the future RE appt before it arrives!

polkadot~If you really want to go in and talk to your doctor, go ahead and call now. It would be good if they could get you in before AF shows (that is, if she does show ;) ) so that you won't have to wait until the next cycle to do CD3 bloodwork. Make sense? I went in right before AF came and it worked out perfectly - timing-wise. I just told my dr. the lengths of all my cycles and the days when I got +OPKs and he initiated the talk of what tests to do. Good luck!

You guys are all so lucky that you have good doctors who are into the charting thing! Small rant here...
I went in for my annual gyn exam yesterday and told my NP that we are now TTC. She went over all the stuff about eating right, taking prenatals, yada yada yada. And she says- get this- "we just recommend that everyone have intercourse twice a week." I could totally miss my (very minimal) fertile CM if we did that! She also said "normal couples could take a year or two to get pg!" You better believe I'm having things checked out if its over a year!
Then I mention to her that I've been charting since August- and she just looks at me like I'm nuts! She didn't say anything, just kind of said, "oh really?" like she totally didn't agree with charting. And I'll tell you, I just shut up after that. I had some things I had really wanted to ask her about my CM too, but after that reaction I knew she wouldn't be supportive. It just really sucks to have someone act so judgemental just in their body language, you know? I have been going to her for a while too, so I was really bummed. :( I hate that we seem to know more about our cycles than most providers do.
Anyway, enough of my ranting! I've been spotting a little but hoping that its just due to my pap since I usually don't spot before AF. I'll probably test again Saturday if my temp is still up, but I'm not holding out much hope.
Good luck to all the other testers coming up!

ptcrn- it sucks that you NP isnt pro-charting i have heard from many people that docs arent for charting and take the way of thinking that it will happen when it happens...maybe you could ask to see a different doc one that you know will be opening for helping you our and procharting.....good luck....
i am fulling expecting to wake up tomorrow to AF and a low temp....wish me luck....

Hi ladies-
I'm back from driving home for a little nookie, but I fear it was all for naught. When will I ever ovulate? I can hear my ovaries, and they are laughing like little mischievous urchins-- so pleased with themselves for having so much power over me that I spent 8 hours in the car just to try to get the welcoming committee in position before they rocket out an egg...
The latest I've O'd in the past 9 months is CD23, and here it is just the end of CD18. Good lord that's a lot of BDing! It's a good thing I like my DH.
Question: I am usually an EWCM factory, but not this month. Is it because I'm psyching myself out or is it because it is harder to tell if it is EW because of, well, leftovers from the welcoming committee/swim team?
Thanks for your help, girls!
polkadot
12-07-2005, 08:09 PM
alethia- i have to same problem most of the time...and i even posted the same question on the FF vip board and they continue to say that after and hour or so the **leftovers** of the welcoming committee kind of get absorbed or soemthing like that and that if you are confused you should do the glass test....
take a little bit of the confusing CM and put it in a glass of water...if it sinks its fertile Cm if it floats its uhhhmmm **leftovers**
i hope that helps...i have done the test and it seems like its always fertile CM...but that could just be me....hope that helps....

Off BCP since: November, 2005
TTC since: November, 2005
Charting since: December, 2005
Known issues/test results: Possible PCOS, but never confirmed.
I am on CD 3. I was actually excited to see AF on Monday, mainly because it was my first "on my own" one after I stopped BCP (around Halloween). I'd been on BCPs since 1995, and that was because I wasn't menstruating regularly, and my docs have suspected PCOS in the past few years. So I was excited to see AF.

CD20, still no sign of O. If my ovary made an egg this month, it HAD to come out at some point, right? Stupid body, doesn't it know I'm impatient and don't want it to take its sweet time about this? DH and I skipped BDing last night 'cause we were both just exhausted, but we did wake up a little early today to start the day out right. I guess we'll just keep this up till I see that temp jump.
armadillo, thanks!
MrsJackson, yay for solid lines! I loved seeing those the one month it happened for me. I hope I get 'em again this month. It's definitely good to BD now and then just for fun. Here's hoping your little temp dip is an implantation one!
ajlanden, thanks. I'm sorry to hear you're spotting. Bad spot!
ptcrn, I'm so sorry! That's awful. My GYN seemed to dismiss my charting as well, but never quite like that. I think it helped for me that I'm friends with her partner, so I actually talked to him more than I saw her and was able to get into the RE in part because of my connection. I worry that otherwise they would've been stringing me along for a while there. Have you considered switching doctors? I think you should!
ABirney, thanks. I hope AF shows up soon so you can get started on the new cycle. And then I hope she doesn't come back for a long time!!!
Aletheia, I think your ovaries and mine are working together to make us nuts! I definitely can empathize. delaney...Whacko! Yeah, I see my chart too. What could have happened? That's so weird!
Welcome, polarama!
armadillo- good point. Maybe it's just a mixture? I dunno.
By the way, I'm not so sure about my temp jump. I woke up before my alarm and I was freezing and so found my hot water bottle/DH replacement and it was still hot (I had filled it with boiling water last night.) I had that on my chest for probably an hour before temping.
I'd like to believe the jump is right, but what with a pronounced increase in CM today, I just don't think it is... tomorrow will tell. And get this... not only is my temp unreliable this morning, but I'm out of OPK's and its' supposed to start snowing here shortly in a big way. If I don't make the decision to go home tonight soon, I'll be stuck here for another 24 hours...
So it looks like I'm getting back in the car.

10dpo is too early for pg symptoms in my perspective, Di. Hang on!

Thanks everyone. I just felt so mad this morning. Of course I had to play around with my chart this afternoon and I discovered that if my temp rises tomorrow morning I will have solid crosshairs which made me feel better. I just hate how charting makes me feel.... like if I can find the right combo of symptoms and temps and enter them I will get PG. I think it is also easy to be convinced that getting enough people at CC to say your chart looks PG will mean you are PG. In reality it doesn't matter what I enter on my chart because my chart does not determine whether or not I am PG.
I am feeling better though. I have had some nausea the past two days and I am starting to think it has more to do with my cycle than with my acid reflux. It always comes right around O time and lasts, on and off, until AF comes. But I am feeling good about our timing this month. We didn't plan it that way, it just happened every other day like that.
Hopefully this is it for us. I get so discouraged when AF shows up. We need to get a few more BFP's up in here!!
Aletheia, good luck tomorrow!!! I hope you caught that egg!
CTs_Punkin, I hope the Clomid works for you! Good luck!

Something really weird happened today. I was at work and out of nowhere I had a stabbing pain in my abdomen (not a specific side) that lasted about 5 seconds and went away. Almost immediately it happened again. I figured it was gas :o and went on with my day, but this evening I noticed that I am spotting and I wonder if the two are related. I have not O'd yet and I do not have fertile CM so what on earth does this mean?
I am probably reading too much into all this, but every little twinge I feel must have something to do with my reproductive system.

B]Aletheia[/B], I hope you caught that egg!
CTs_PunkinI hope the Clomid works! Sare79 Sorry AF found you as well but maybe this cycle will be it.
Delaney21 Welcome!!! I noticed we are wedding day twins.
Polkadot Rant away we all have those upsetting moment. Friends tell me to quit trying and it will happen well wrong.
Ilovemygeek unsure what that could be.
Question I am going to try OPK's this cycle. When should I start testing? FF had my O on cd 19 but those who looked at my chart questioned that. Thanks
Also I forgot to up date DH age to 33. Thanks threadmistress.

PolkaDot I'm so sorry. {{HUGS}}
Delaney Welcome. I hope your stay here is short and sweet.
CT I hope the clomid works for you. I hear all kinds of success stories with it.
ILovemygeek I've never had that. Here's hoping it's your system gearing up to get that egg implanted good!!!
cowgirl How long are your cycles typically? Mine are 28 days and I usually start testing on cd11. Last month I o'd 2-3 days late so I panicked when I wasn't getting my + opk. Good Luck
Chris&Jen Welcome!! I hope your stay is short and sweet also!!
Sare Good Luck in the 2ww. I hope this is it for you!!
I'm on cd11 today. I hate waiting to O. It's worse than the 2ww. We're going to bd every other day this cycle. I'm also using preseed and instead cups. So far so good. I was really panicky at the start of this cycle. Now I am calm, almost too calm. Hopefully that a sign.

Well, CD21, 2 weeks since my last Clomid dose, and STILL no sign of O. It's very frustrating. The doc saw an 18.8 mm follie on my right ovary 3 days ago and said that if it was an unreleased egg (as opposed to a corpus luteum left behind from an already-released one) that I should O within 2-3 days. Well, today is 3 days! C'mon little ovary, let that thing go!!!!
I'm wondering if perhaps my CD count is off. My GYN told me to count my first day of spotting as CD1, but that just sounded wrong - as we all know, CD1 should be the first day of true bleeding, right? So maybe today is actually only CD18 or 19. But still, with the Clomid so long ago, I should have O'd.
Whatever. Can't control it, so we're continuing to BD and hopefully I'll see a temp rise at some point. I have my bloodwork scheduled for Wed., so by then we'll know for sure what's going on.
If this cycle doesn't work, I think I might go straight to IUI next month. This endless waiting and wondering makes me nuts. It might be better if we just schedule it and be done. What do you guys think?
Sare79, sorry that AF came, but glad that she finally came, you know? I hope this cycle is a little easier for you!
Chris-n-Jen & Delaney, welcome!
cowgirl, ugh to AF arriving. Hope she leaves soon! Maybe start using the tests around CD15 or so?
dionysia, good luck! When do you plan to test?
Michelle, I'll be thinking lots of positive thoughts for you!
polkadot, I'm so sorry.
Ilovemygeek, hmmmm, perhaps it's your ovaries gearing up to let loose an eggie?!
dotsie, calm is good. I agree, the pre-O wait is awful. I hope you catch the egg this month!

polkadot I'm so sorry sweetie. :(
cowgirl My average O is around CD 18. I started OPKs this cycle on CD 10. Good luck!
Ilovemygeek I'm not sure what that would be?
Welcome Delaney21!!!
I am 10 DPO and got a BFN this morning. I shouldn't have tested. I was trying to hold off until 12 DPO, but I have had dreams the last 2 nights that I got a BFP. My FPS are nausea, frequent urination, crazy dreams (about 3-4 each night), increased appetite (or am I a pig?) and irritiability. It is probably all in my head though.

7 DPO today. My temp went up this morning, higher than it's ever been. I didn't think it would go that high. But I didn't wake up any later than I normally do, so late waking isn't the reason.
MrsJackson05 Maybe an implantation dip? Let's hope!
MrsJackson, yay for solid lines! I loved seeing those the one month it happened for me. I hope I get 'em again this month. It's definitely good to BD now and then just for fun. Here's hoping your little temp dip is an implantation one!
I'm hoping you're right girls. How's my chart look today? Still look that way to you?
Dotsie
12-09-2005, 08:07 AM
MrsJackson Your chart looks awesome. I hope it was an implantation dip and recovery. If it was a dip you could possibly test + in about 2 days (don't test that soon though, you'll drive yourself batty ;) )

I discovered something today...last night I actually got a FULL NIGHT's worth of sleep. I didn't wake up once and surprise! My temp was actually low! In last month's chart, I barely saw a temp shift, but I hardly ever get a full night's sleep. DH wakes me up when he gets to bed or goes to the bathroom. Or I'll need to get up to go to the bathroom, or I'm cold/hot and need to adjust the blankets, etc. I hardly ever get the required 3 hours of sleep before getting up. Last night we were so exhausted that we both passed out and didn't wake up til the alarm went off.

polka- ugh, i'm so sorry. I've been so uptight about this, my first cycle TTC, and when you announced you were going to sort of take it easy I thought to myself, "geez, she's right, that's probably the way to go. I'm probably being my own worst enemy, trying to control everything." And now AF for you... this TTC game sucks! Just tell me the rules and I'll play by them, stinkhead AF. I'm sorry. I'm glad you have the dr's appt. to look ahead to.
congrats MBFP! It's okay to celebrate! One day at a time!
Charting Question: Please tell me that I'm being paranoid. My chart clearly indicates O, right? So why am I still having EWCM? Feel free to say, A, chill out and wait another day. But I've never had an annov cycle before, or multiple patches of fertile CM. Is there a good chance this temp rise isn't O?

As usual, I don't see the MBFP and I'm pretty sure I check everyone's chart...URGH!!!
Insurance Update: Well, my insurance does not cover IVF :( however, DH's does :D! Since my current coverage ends 12/31, I will transfer to his!! It turns out MD law mandates the small companies (under 50 ppl) cannot cover IVF. I tried to get our broker to add this coverage to our new policy for 2006, but that's when he told me about this law. This is the first time I've worked for a small company (I knew I liked big companies for some reason!), so that's why I assumed it would be covered since it's always been covered in the past.
My chart is not looking good this month. I had originally planned on us BDing like crazy, but I was just so nervous about the RE appt, then still nervous afterwards that we didn't BD at all. I did take my OPKs from last Saturday through Wednesday and they were all negative. I'm on CD20 with no sign of O and my temp is still low. Guess I'm still a barrell of nerves.
I'll probably start the IVF route in January.

I'm still hanging in here... having some light brown spotting on and off since Wed evening, cramps went away though... my temp did go down today though so hopefully it won't be too much longer before I can get cracking on a new cycle! I am REALLY hating my chart this month, and am really frusterated. I do not O on my own, this is my first cycle on clomid, and I guess I thought that the medicine was going to fix everything. Well today is CD 23, no O, my CM is confusing me, and temps go UP like I'm going to O, and then....go DOWN.
If anyone has any insight at all into my chart, I would appreciate it! Thanks!
I see the MBFP too. Congratulations!

suzfuzsunflower, I understand your frustration. I personally don't seem to until until CD23-25, so there is still a chance you might O today, tomorrow or even later. Don't give up hope!!
Aletheia, dotted crosshairs are better than no crosshairs! Good luck to you!!!
polkadot, so sorry about AF. Hopefully she'll ease up a bit on you. It sounds like you and your doctor are on the right track. Hopefully you'll get a BFP before you have to see her again!!
ABirney, good luck on your new cycle. I hope it starts soon for you!

I'm still waiting to O. I had 2 high temps in a row, if I get one more I will get dotted crosshairs even though I know I haven't O'd yet. This morning's was skewed because I had to get up with my DS at 0230 because he is sick and I normally temp at 0400. That and the fact that the heat was blasting in my house last night. Too hot!! I'm not stressing out because I'll just override my O day if FF doesn't adjust it.

I have the slightest, tiniest amount of spotting today. I know it is way too early at 4DPO for implantation spotting. I know I am obsessing, but I just have to know... does anyone think it is possible I actually O'ed on CD20 and the CD23's low temp was just a fluke, and therefore it could be implantation spotting? I guess I am going to cling to every FPS as usual...
Aletheia
12-10-2005, 02:06 PM
Michelle- Hmm. Why did you discard the high temp three days before the end of wet cm?
Sabriel
12-10-2005, 04:23 PM
MichelleRenee I'm not sure honey. Based on temps alone, I would think that you Oed on CD 25, but your CM dried up before that. Sorry, I'm no help. :o

Hey Ali, good to see you over here!
MichelleRenee, I had implantation spotting at 5 DPO with my DS, so you never know....
Sabriel, test already! Your chart looks great!
As for me, 10 DPO today but I'm pretty sure I'm out. I'm not spotting, per se, but when I wipe with the TP it's red tinged (sorry if TMI!) and I had bad backache cramps last night. Although they've disappeared today....HMMMM
MichelleRenee
12-10-2005, 08:10 PM
I discarded that temp because I took it 3 hours late and after having been up for 30 minutes and then only sleeping another hour. I woke up suddenly because my nephew was here and he woke up and was crying so I didn't have time to temp. I appreciate all of you commenting on it for me.... as soon as I posted I felt dumb because I know I am being obsessive.

Could you all give me some advice on my chart? I'm only on CD7 but woke up with EWCM this morning?!? I wasn't going to start my OPKs until CD 10 or 11 (I o'd on CD 15 last month) but what the heck is this??
Aletheia
12-11-2005, 09:02 AM
ausi- (is that supposed to be "ozzy"?)- your period was shorter, and maybe your ovaries, in strict differentiation from mine, just want to get things rolling. If I were you, I'd have some nookie or, if you have the $, consider beginning with the OPKs. Better safe than sorry, right?
Ladies, I need some advice. My temp fell again. As of pre-nookie time this morning, my CM seemed to be drying up a bit, but my cervix was still pretty high. What's going on? Do you think I've o'd yet or not?

Aletheia Wow, that is a tough one. You only had 2 elevated temps, so I am thinking that you haven't Oed yet? Keep BDing just in case!
ausi2b If you saw EWCM, then start BDing! You may be Oing early, so starting OPKs today might be a good idea. Good lluck!
I woke DH up and told him. He said "Cool!" LOL He say the line too, so I am not crazy. We talked and decided that we want to enjoy every minute of this PG, so I am going to try my hardest.

You know, since this is my first full month of charting I'm not really sure. Last month I didn't take temps until the end of my cycle. Last months cycle was 47 days. But that was reaaallllyyyy long for me. So long in fact, that I thought we had caught an eggie the first try. But I wasn't pregnant. The weird thing is that I wasn't under any stress either. I coudn't figure it out.
The cycle before that ran about 33-34 days. So, I'm not really sure on the details. That's bad, huh?! :o

mrsjackson- its not bad that you dont know...you are new at this and thats ok...were you on BCP before this....my first cycle off of BCP was very long...i didnt O until cycle day 25 ...but after that they became pretty normal...we will have more to go by next month...dont freak....it will all work out....your chart still looks ok,....you are still above your coverline..so chin up:D
tonysweetie- why wont your dr. atleast give you a blood test...thats weird...i hope you get a BFP soon....

Just popping in to say CONGRATS to Sabriel!! Lots of **sticky vibes**! :D
tonysweetie ~ I can't believe your dr won't give you a blood test! Your temps obviously show you ovulated. A co-worker of mine knew she was pg but kept getting BFN's at home. She went to the dr and her blood tests kept coming back negative as well...she finally got a + blood test about a month after Oing, so there's still hope for an answer for you! Good luck!

tonysweetie-I've been thinking about you and your chart. Have you done any reading about corpus luteum cysts? I think I remember reading somewhere that a type of ovarian cyst-- they're usu. benign-- can occur on the corpus luteum. That's the globule that is responsible for generating the higher-than-follicular-phase levels of progesterone, and consequently is responsible for your elevated post-o temps. I think it's possible to have a cyst make the corpus luteum get stuck in the "on" position for longer than usual, resulting in a protracted luteal phase. But I don't have any personal experience with that. I just thought it might be another alternative. Granted, its a no-baby alternative, but I bet at this point you more just want to know! My body is being uncooperative right now too and it is SOOOO frustrating to just want to know what's going on!
Good luck to you. I did a quick google search and this site may be a place to start:

Thanks for the encouragement. I'm really anxious to see what my temp will be in the morning. I'd better give myself a pep talk about not waking up every 3 hours to see if it's time to temp though. I've been doing that alot lately.
I was never on BCP's. So, that can't be the reason my last cycle was so long. I doubt I'll ever figure it out.
Cross your fingers for a higher temp tomorrow, ladies. Wouldn't that be a good sign? What would another dip like that mean?

cat_loverpq: I'm gonna go back in maybe in a couple weeks and try again. Ugh! So frustrating!!!
Aletheia: Yes that has crossed my mind as well. The only symptoms I have is the late period I don't have pain or anything so who knows. IJ ust started getting sore bb's a few days ago which usually is my indication AF is about to arrive so who knows what the heck is going on but its soooo complicated!

Sweet relief with today's temp!
Threadmistress, I think you can move me now to Waiting to Test- 12/21.
Was it Michelle who earlier found a chart much like hers in the gallery? Well, look at this comparison! Freaky, huh? It's nice that the blue line is a PG chart, but really, at this point all I really wanted was confirmation that you could O and have descending temps two days in a row... :)

Can I join?
AF just showed up this morning, so I'm on to a new cycle, and I'm ready to start charting.
Brief history: I have one DS, who will be 1 on Dec. 21. I just had a miscarriage in October. We took one cycle off, and then just didn't prevent this past cycle. Now, I'm ready to start actively trying again. I also have DS weaned, which was one thing I wanted to do before getting preggers again. I charted before I had DS, and now I'm ready to start again, except he still gets up irregularly, so I have a hard time getting a consistent temp time.
Here are my stats:
Me: 28
DH: 38 (next week)
Married: 10.04.03
DS: 12.21.04
Miscarriage: 8 weeks 10.08.05
TTC: since 12.12.05

CD24 here and nothing. Still. I have no clue what's going on with my body and why what the doc saw on the u/s last week hasn't done anything. If it was a corpus luteum, my temps should have gone up well before now, and they haven't, and if it was an egg, it should've popped by now, but my temps still don't show that. Sigh. I'm alternating between tears (Saturday) and anger (yesterday) and today am just feeling like a deflated balloon. I can't wait to go to the doc on Wed. and see what my blood work shows. I'm already preparing myself that it will show an annovulatory cycle, in which case I'm going to ask for Provera immediately (don't want to wait around to see if AF shows up on her own, as that could take forever) and will discuss going straight to IUI. My doc seemed open to that last week and I just don't feel like riding this roller coaster any longer. I'll see what he says and then talk to DH.
sabriel and ajlanden, congrats!!!! H&H to you both!
suzfuzsunflower, I'm having the same problem as you! It's so strange! It's also making me crazy (see above). Have you talked to your doctor about it? I'm going for bloodwork on Wed. to see if I did O or not and I'm trying hard not to email my doc before then and pester him.
Tonysweetie, I'd demand a blood test. CD47 is ridiculous! I don't see any reason why you should "wait it out"!
Jenzen, welcome! Sorry to hear about your m/c. Hopefully you won't be with us for long!
Sorry to all those who AF found. May she stay away for us all in the new year!

I had a very short AF this month- it took me by surprise. I kept thinking isn't there still something left in there ? Normally they last at least another two days. Not that I am complaining.;)
Now I just get to wait for O. Hopefully it isn't on day 28 again!

Question for you all?
What do O pains feel like? I had cramping in my lower abdomen earlier this weekend for about a day. DH said gas, but I didn't think so. This was extremely low, and a lot like what I felt when I had my bout with cysts. I'm praying its not cysts again this time but I don't think so, since the pain was not as severe.
I guess we'll wait to see when FF calls my O date for this month. If it was this weekend, then I don't think we'll be testing--DH has had a bad cold the last week or so and the last thing he felt like doing is the Horizontal Mambo, as he calls it! Can't say I blame him if he feels that crappy!

Sorry I haven't been around much. I took a break from temping/charting this month. However, just grins I took my temp this morning to see if it was in the post-O range and I think it probably is. So, lovely Threadmistress, will you please move me to "I think I O'ed"? You can put me under any of the dates because I am starting Clomid next cycle and will only test this cycle if AF doesn't show. Thanks!
(Plus, I think I would have to test right around Christmas Eve or Day and I just don't think I could handle a BFN. For some reason it would be easier on me if AF showed. )

Nothing new here. I had bloodwork done this morning and will know by this afternoon whether I O'd or not. If I did, great, we wait. If not, I'm going to ask about Ovedril (?) to force the egg that seems to be in my ovary to pop out. I really don't want to have to scratch this whole cycle. We'll see!
Welcome KristieB, Alioop, and Mimieliza, I hope you're not here long! :)
gator, I think Wednesday looks good. I hope so! Here's wishing for a nice fat BFP for Christmas.
katmg, that sucks. At least another month is around the corner!
Bellefior, since I don't really O, I couldn't tell ya. But a friend of mine says her O pains always feel like little pinching pains in her abdomen, usually on one side.
ABirney, I think my doc said AF can come anywhere up to 10 days after you stop the Provera. I was lucky and got it both times while still taking the drugs, though. I hope she shows up for you soon!
Dotsie, what a great Christmas this could be for you!
UTChick, I hope she doesn't show at all! If not, good news on starting the Clomid soon. I hope it works for you.

Hi ladies- no time just now for SO's-
Does anyone know if a hotwater bottle over my abdomen right now (possible implantation days) is a bad idea? My bloating/cramping/general-abdominal- discomfort got better there for a few days but now it's owy again. I'd really like to lay a hot water bottle over my tummy but am afraid of making the Maybe Baby look for a climate not quite so stifflingly hot.
Why my abdomen is still owy or again owy is also weird to me... I may have a cyst?

Stopping by to say hello! I'm excited to see so many of my charting buddies, but I'm sorry you're still here :(. I know I promised to stick around, but it was a little more difficult than I thought expected. However, it's getting easier, and I hope to become an official member again sooner rather than later. In the mean time, I'm definitely back to chart-stalk (and chart-interpret, of course ;) )!
BTW (and I know this is an odd thing to post in the charting thread), I've been sleeping MUCH better since I stopped charting :D. I charted haphazardly the cycle I got my BFP, not at all the cycle after the m/c, and only barely this cycle. Considering how obsessed I was with charting, it's been a very good thing to take a step back. I learned so much through it, both TTA & TTC, that it's almost like I don't *have* to do it anymore. I know when I'm fertile & I know my O signs; what else do you need for TTC, really? Just a thought for those of you experts who might be desperate for a break :). All that said, I still plan to do *some* charting when we TTC again, but I'm already gearing myself up to avoid temping post-O. ;)
ETA: Polka, I'm not sure how everyone else is handling it, but I wouldn't mind being counted as one of the BFPs in Oct. I didn't exactly graduate, but it's still my angel baby :).

Well I am finally back from being MIA. I had my ob/gyn appt today and I feel great.
1)He took a quick look at my charts and said that I was having normal cycles. So that is a positive.
2)He wants me to start taking prenatal vitamins even though I have been taking a multivitamin.
3) He doesn't want me to get too "clinical" at this time....meaning when to BD as related to my Temp/CM. He wants us to BD whenever it "moves us". He wants us to relax and enjoy ourselves.
4) He said typically that someone with a normal cycle gets pregnant within 3-6 months. If we are not pregnant in 6 months he wants me to schedule an appt with him and then we will take it from there.
5) He said to take a pregnancy test if my period is late. If the test comes back negative I am to call his office for a blood test. If the test is positive I am to call his office and they will schedule an appt for me with him when I am at 6 weeks.
Ok a few things that i am questioning.
1) He said that it looked like I ovulated yesterday as my temp dropped to 96.9 I questioned him on that as I haven't had a positive opk yet and then he said it may be the start of the LH being released so it may be an indication of ovulation being on it way. What does everyone think about this? I am questioning whether he was back pedaling.
2) He suggested a grocery store's (wegmans) generic brand of prenatal vitamins. Does anyone have any thoughts on brands that are really good?
3) I really don't agree with relaxing totally with when it comes to when we BD now that I know when the best time is to BD. I will just make sure that we make this a fun process and enjoy the moment(s) thought.
Ok all in all it was a very good appt and I am starting to get excited. I can't wait to start next month. :)

Polka, thank you. :)
Deanna, I'm glad your apt went well! To address your questions:
1) I don't think you O'd yet, but it's hard to be definitive without more history. That said, I wouldn't feel neg. about your doc for saying so. Everyone's temp does different things prior to O. Mine starts to go up when LH surges, and my O isn't always completely distinguishable by temp; pre-O dips are obviously common; and some people get lower temps and stay low during their LH surge. Most docs (particularly men) aren't familiar with the day-ins & day-outs of charting, only the scientific specifics, not to mention it's only now becoming popular, so I don't think his responses were ignorant.
Also, OPKs aren't perfect, not to mention they can show a pre-delayed-O surge, so don't use them as your defining factor. The most important thing pre-O is fertile fluid, and post-O is a defined temp-shift.
2) No answer. My multis plus B-complex (from Trader Joes) make my doc happy :).
3) As I said above, charting CAN become TOO overwhelming. But I think docs sometimes miss the point when they tell charters to relax. BDing at the right time isn't necessarily the problem. Becoming consumed by charting *is.* My advice (for what it's worth) is to BD at the right time, but try hard not to focus too much on signs, symptoms, temps, etc. I swear I used to spend hours each day studying my charts looking for signs similar to and different than past cycles. I don't know if it the stress really hurts achieving conception and implantation, but it definitely helped me relax.

No temps yet, but my thermometer came today. :)
I cannot for the life of me remember to take the stupid vitamins. I'm so worried about the folic acid. What time of day do you take vitamins? Can I take them right before bed? (For some reason I'm worried they will give me energy and keep me awake - probably totally false and irrational.)

Threadmistress, please move me to "Think I O'd - Testing 12/19-12/25"! :D
The doc's office finally called at 6 last night. The nurse said that my blood showed I definitely O'd this month. She said the doc said I don't need any progesterone supplements, but that I definitely did O. She didn't give me the numbers, but I'm going to call today to ask if I can have them. Just curious.
So, now I wait. No idea how long since I don't have any idea how long ago I O'd. My temps are obviously no help. Part of me thinks it might have been much earlier - like last Monday. I had a glaringly positive OPK on Sunday night, a less positive one (but still positive) on Monday, and then I stopped testing after that. I hope it was earlier, because our BDing was much better in the early part of the week. After Tuesday night, we only BD'd Thursday morning and then not again till Sunday morning. I know the little guys can stick around for days, though, so even if I didn't O till Friday (my other possible day, as I think I felt some weird pain that day, and also that's when the spotting stopped - maybe that was connected to O?), I guess we still have a shot this month.
Today, of all days, my temp shot up. Don't know why I took it, I guess out of habit. I had been up for about 10 minutes already, but hadn't yet gotten out of bed, so I don't know if that makes any difference? I also had slept with an extra blanket last night and even woke up at one point so hot that I kicked them off. I panicked for a few minutes thinking that the much higher temp meant that yesterday was O day, but then I realized that if the blood I gave at 8 am yesterday showed a clear O, then I couldn't have O'd later in the same day. Right? The hormone isn't released till AFTER the eggie pops out, right? Anyway, I'm putting myself at anywhere from 5-9 DPO. Probably will test Friday with a Dollar Tree test, just 'cause. But I'm sure it will be a BFN. After that, will try to wait till next Tuesday, which will be CD31 and hopefully late enough to tell for sure.
On a side note (another? side note), today I'm having pinkish sticky CM (been having sticky and a little creamy CM for 4 days now) and have a weird sharpish pain in my lower right abdomen. That could just be psychosomatic, though. ;)
So, 2WW, here I am!

Deanna- I think you interpreted everything from you doctor's appointment really well- including the "just relax" mantra. Geez. :)
Flygirl- I'm really glad you asked to be counted on the BFP list. Of course an angel baby "counts." And while it might be weird for a newbie here to say, welcome back!
Hi mimi! Yup- start those vitamins post haste! I can't stomach the prenatal (because of the iron) much before lunchtime, with or without food. So, I take them with dinner. Plus, my dinnertime schedule is more consistent, so they're easier to remember. I also take an additional calcium pill at the same time (as we all should, especially the tall white ones! ward off that osteoporosis!). This has an added benefit-- calcium has calming effects-- I'm a night owl and always have a really difficult time falling asleep. I swear the calcium helps with that.
One more hint- keep a pill box with an extra stash (I keep 7 days worth) in your purse. That way if you are out of town, out for dinner, or run out of pills and forget to go to the store, you have a plan b.
Mrs.J- Looks good!
As for me... I definitely feel crampy and tight in my abdomen. Enough so that I am disinclined to think it is anything baby related but maybe some other problem-- I'm not sure. I'm dying to temp! But I purposefully left my thermometer at my other home so I wouldn't be "temp"ted. I'm still obsessing. But probably not to the same degree I would be if I were temping!

Thanks for the welcome ladies! :)
MimieLiza I think you can take your PNV whenever. I have to take mine with food or they give me a tummy ache. :(
MrsJackson05 Your chart looks great! Good luck!
gymwidow Yeah for O'ing!
jbemommy Welcome!
Deanna Glad that your appt went well.
Does anyone use a CBEFM? (Sorry.... Clear Blue Easy Fertility Monitor) This is my second cycle with mine. Last cycle it asked for a test every day. I'm on cd7 and it hasn't asked for a test yet. Should I be concerned since my cycles are irregular? I suppose we could just BD every day/ every other day until O is confirmed.

Ok, this is going to sound really silly but what exactly am I looking for in my temps? I feel like I'm all over the place with my temps so far and I'm not sure if that's normal or if I'm doing something wrong. Also I usually hit the snooze button once or twice before actually taking my temp. Is that bad? I'm not really awake and I certainly haven't gotten out of bed yet. I just have this feeling that my temps are not accurate.
Also I'm still having a problem defining my CM. EWCM I recongize right away but anything else I'm clueless about. For example I'm not really sure what "sticky" CM looks like on toilet paper?
I know I can ask these questions in the rookie TTC thread but I think you girls are more knowledgable when it comes to charting and my questions are really about charting issues.
I have to say that this waiting to O stage is really boring!!!!!

More update: my progesterone level yesterday was 4.8. That's pretty low, but the doctor said it's high enough to confirm that I did O, probably very recently, and also high enough so that I don't need to worry about supplements. So I'm thinking Thursday or Friday might've been O day. That would make yesterday either 4 or 5 DPO, which would be in line with those numbers (according to an "expert" friend from CC). It also would fit with the major FPS I'm having today - these cramps are getting painful and are moving from my lower right abdomen to all over my lower belly now. Man, I hope they're real!
jbemommy, welcome! I say start now, it can't hurt and it will get you into the habit. Of course, hopefully you won't have to keep the habit for long! ;)
flygirl, it's good to "see you! I'm glad to hear you're doing okay, and definitely glad to hear about good sleep and a little breathing room! I think I'm about to stop charting for the rest of this cycle. You're right, it's good to take a step back!
cowgirl, crossing fingers for a big O for you this month!
Deanna, yay for a good appointment! It's nice to have a doc who takes the time to go over everything with you. MHO on your questions:
1. My RE and GYN both told me that OPKs can be quite unreliable. It's always possible to O without it ever showing up on them.
2. My GYN also recommended any generic form. He said just make sure it includes 100% of most of your daily needs. I compared labels on a bunch, some name brand and some generic, and they were all substantially the same. So I bought a bottle of generic - 240 vitamins for $6.
3. I agree. You can still "relax" and BD when you know the time is good!
mimieliza, I take my vitamins every morning with breakfast. I get nauseous if I take them first thing and I never remembered at night. I keep a jar of them in my desk at work and then on the weekends I take one when I brush my teeth after I eat.
Mrs Jackson, looks good! Crossing my fingers for you! When will you test?
Aletheia, bring on the FPS! I have 'em in bulk. They're already making me nuts! I think I'm going to stop temping now also. Maybe. Possibly. We'll see. :p
KristieB, thanks! I have no idea what a BCEFM is. Sorry!
Chris-n-Jen, do you have TCOYF? It really explains the whole charting thing well. Tells you what to look for, how to interpret, and even has handy little pictures of what CM looks like so you know how to judge it. Basically, (and someone please correct me if I don't have this exactly right) you're looking for a temp jump of at least 0.2 over the past 6 temps. Like on your 11/12 chart, your temp jump around CD23 or CD24. But it's not an exact science, and your past 6 temps might not always be below that jump. That doesn't make much sense, does it? I really recommend reading the book!!!
I don't know really if hitting snooze affects your temp that much. You're really supposed to temp upon waking after at least 3 hours of uninterrupted sleep, but that's often difficult (I wake up all the time, usually at least once or twice in the 3 hours before my alarm goes off, but I usually fall right back asleep, so I don't worry about it). I use temping as my "snooze." The alarm goes off and I turn it off, pick up my thermometer and stick it in my mouth and then doze while it does it's thing. When it beeps, that wakes me back up and I get up then.
As for CM, the best way to judge it really is to feel it. Get some on your forefinger and then pinch your finger and thumb together. Is it thick-ish and stick to one finger or the other (prob. sticky)? Or is it more like hand lotion in consistency (creamy)? Or does it stretch, but not break apart (EW)?

I have my last final in 45 minutes but instead of studying I had to come here and post my newest FPS... I've never had this one before.
Normally after I O I have tender nipples.
Today I have horrible achy pain on the sides of my boobs. It hurts when I swing my arms when I walk.
I don't even know if that's something to get worked up about but it's completely new to me. It hurts and I don't like it, but could a symptom like that be a good one 8dpo? I hope so.

Hey Ladies - I cannot keep up with the shout outs! Its so busy in here! :)
My OPK last night was really dark. But I marked it as negative because - I don't know - I feel like its too early to be so dark. But my temp went up today (despite the FRIGID temperatures last night!) What do you think - do you think I o'd (today is CD10)?

jbemommy welcome! I started mid cycle as well just to get in the habit before it really counted.

DeannaSounds like the appointmnet was a good one. I have heard the geniric prenatals are just as good and are cheeper.
mimieliza I take them at lunch or sometimes diner. You could try taking them in the morning say before brushing your teeth so you remeber.
Mrs Jackson Crossing my fingers for you!
gymwidow Thanks I am hoping for a big O and perfect timing.HAHA Congrats on having your O confirmed.
Chris-n-Jen The TTA thread has some links to what Cm looks like. Also as long as it is normal for you to hit the snooze and temp at the same time you should be fine.

Dotsie I hope you are feeling better! :D
Thanks, gymwidow for the hope! God knows I need alot of it! I'm thinking that I might test tomorrow morning. I'm not sure though. I'm afraid of the answer that I don't want.
Aletheia I've been trying to do some chart stalking to see if I can find any charts like mine with two dips like that, but I haven't found any yet. Does anybody know why my temps would do that?

Thanks for all your comments/thoughts on my ob/gyn appt yesterday. I have one more question though. Do prenatal vitamins have a tendency to cause constipation and gas? I just started taking the vitamin today and I am not feeling really good right now. I wish I could just let "a little air out" ..I know TMI but I know that if I could just let one rip:p I would feel so much better :D
Be back later for replies.

Yeah, it may take your bottom system a little while to adjust. Taking them with food (and remembering to drink lots of water) should help!
Quick tip for the, um, "air": sit on your knees on the floor. Put both your hands in fists, and press them up against your lower abdomen. Now lean over. :p Don't do this in the same room as DH, unless you owe him one. ;)
Mrs. Jackson- Go into FF's chart gallery and search all charts with implantation dips-- not all of them are PG charts, and not all of them have only one dip. Quite a few have more. Here's a case in point:http://fertilityfriend.com/ChartGalleryCache/chart42186.png

OK I am a little confused...
1) I didn't have as much EWCM this cycle. I know it varies from month to month. I also was remiss in drinking enough water. I also didn't eat carrots "like there was no tomorrow" this cycle like I did last cycle. I am wondering if that is why I didn't have as much.
2) My temperature sky rocketed this morning so I played around with both of my charts inputing temperatures for the next two days. TCOYF put my coverline at 97.6 and said I ovulated on the CD15 but I was starting to dry up by then. FF put dotted crosshairs on my chart and said I ovulated on the CD13 (which by the way my ob/gyn said had happened when i saw him for my annual on the December 13th(CD14)..when he looked at my chart). By the way FF chart is set for FAM.
3) None of my OPK's were positive. Of course if I ovulated on CD13 then I missed the surge. Or I could have just been checking at the wrong time of day if I ovulated on CD15.
This was so much easier the first time that I charted (last month). Now I am getting nervous that I won't have a clue about what I am doing when we start ttc next month.
Ok now for questions...
1) If I have two high temps tomorrow/next day when does everyone think that I o'd. On theCD15 or CD13 (could my ob/gyn actually know what he is talking about)? Could it even be CD14?
2) Which site does everyone think is more reliable. FF or TCOYF?
3) Could the carrots and water really have helped the production of the ewcm. By the way I had grapefruit consistently through both cycles that I tested.
4) Should I take another opk tonight (because I don't mind...I am an POAS addict) just to be sure? Or is it a pretty good bet that I have already ovulated?
Ok now if someone could just slap me in the face right now. I am obviously obsessing. Any thoughts would really be appreciated and would bring me back to reality. Thanks. Be back after work...very long day... 10 hours...ugh

12-15-2005, 04:56 AM
Deanna---just a quick fly by post to mention that, for me, there is a direct correlation between how much water I drink and how much EWCM I get. If I drink my norm. (which is the recommended 8 glasses a day), then I have 2-3 days of good EWCM. If I don't drink much, then I barely get any EWCM. Carrots never helped me too much. But, that is just me.
Dotsie

6 or 7 DPO here and my FPS from yesterday have disappeared (cramping and spotting). I'm hoping that's a sign they were implantation symptoms. It's so hard not to get my hopes up! I've already daydreamed about how we'll tell our families and friends. I even picked up a copy of Fit Pregnancy (a friend got me a subscription last summer as a starting-to-TTC present, but I've been hiding them away b/c it was too hard to read about being pg) and read through it a bit today. I'm finally feeling hopeful about our chances and just hoping that our dreams finally come true soon! :)
This morning when I came out of the bathroom DH asked me if I had tested. I told him it was way too early and I was planning to wait till next Tuesday. He said he didn't want to wait and wanted to know NOW! I told him "Welcome to my world!"
Chris-n-Jen, glad I could help a bit. Do get the book. It's only about $15 or so - totally worth it!
Michelle, your chart looks good! Crossing my fingers for you. How was your final yesterday?
ausi2b, hoping you O soon!
Mrs Jackson, wow, what a great temp jump today!!!! I'm soooo hoping this is it for you!
Deanna, prenatals can cause upset stomach. I get nauseated if I take them on an empty stomach, so I wait and take them after I eat breakfast. I think CD13 def. looks like a possible O date. If you had already O'd that day, that would explain the negative OPK. The LH surge is about 12-36 hours BEFORE you O. I have no idea if the carrots help EWCM, but water definitely does. I've only ever used FF, so I really don't have an opinion on the TCOYF site.
polkadot, I may be interested. I sent you a PM.
ABirney, finally! I'm so glad you're starting fresh now! Good luck this cycle!

Deanna, I agree with gymwidow -- OPKs are usually positive the day before O, not the day of. Between that and the temps, I'd say CD13 for an O as well.
Though I haven't been posting much, I have been reading along and cheering for all of you! I have been doing the lurk-in-a-vain-attempt-to-not-obsess thing. :)
Somewhere around O for me -- confusing temps this cycle. But I got a positive OPK -- at least I got two lines on *something*!! :)

I've been lurking along but trying to take a step back b/c I've been completely obsessed.
So, I'm 8DPO and yesterday nausea set in last night. Fine all day today until about 20 min. ago. I set down the dogs' bowls and felt like I was going to throw up. I've been feeling queasy since. I've had one cycle where I got nauseau right after O. Of course, getting the hopes up. Plus, I've been overly emotional and a bit snippy. I so cannot afford the devastation of getting my hopes up again.

FF gave me the crosshairs immediately this morning, no questioning like the last 2 months. So that's comforting. My last two cycles were just strange!
That being said, I don't think I'll be testing this month either. DH was deathly ill the first part of the week, so we didn't even go near each other :(. He's feeling much better though :) . Just in time for his mom's annual Xmas party this weekend when I am sure we will be asked why we aren't pregnant yet:mad:, since one of his cousin's just announced her pregnancy. Had an U/S yesterday to check the follicle development after my round of 50mg of Clomid - looks like I have a dominate one on the right side ... YEAH!! She gave me an RX for estrogen to take to improve my lining.... she perscribed BD every day or EOD for the next week or so. Well I had a shocking jump in temps this morning. And then the advanced setting said that I O'd yesterday. I didn't have any EWCM at all, but while on my way to work this morning I did have a few abdominal cramps. I wonder, though, if that is nervous tummy/stress.

Bad, bad cramping today. Like never had cramps like this before. I hate them. :p
I still find it very strange that my cycles are so weird. This is the shortest cycle I ever had, and that worries me. Hopefully, things will level out soon so I can get my BFP!
On my stats line on my new cycle's chart, it shows that I could expect AF anyday between cycle day 21 and 51. Now, that's screwy.

Sorry I have been MIA for a while now. I just needed some time away. I decided to go back to charting after last months not knowing. Today I had EWCM and got a positive OPK. So this weekend will be BD weekend;) Yesterday I left an OPK (still in the wrapper) on the bathroom counter (was planning on taking it to work) and when hubby got home last night he inquired about it. He thought you had to shoved it up inside you. Man he is really clueless. The bad thing now is that he knows it is around ovulation time. I try not to tell him because he says "he feels used". I wish he would feel used in a good way.
This is my 12th month of trying. Hoping this will be our month. We got to the doctors on Dec. 27th so hopefully we will get some positive news this month.
Sorry to all those AF found:mad:
And congrats to the BFPs:D

I think I O'ed, testing ... around Xmas
O day was CD15 -- which is great, since that's where it usually was for me before my last two cycles of weirdness (one where I o'ed a week late for no apparent reason, and the next where I o'ed late and had that spotting for 9 days, probably due to stress). Now just keeping my fingers crossed for a normal LP. I really want Spot to be a good dog and stay away! :)

TazLuv & gry76Welcome! Hopefully you won't be here long.
Sticky baby dust to everyone it 2ww!
"Thanks for reminding us. In fact you don't mind if we go upstairs to work on that right now, do you? Please excuse us for about 20 minutes."
BellefiorToo funny! We might have to steal that for Christmas with the inlaws.
CT'sPunkin O dust to you!
MrsJackson05 Sorry your cycles are so screwy. Mine are irregular and I hate never knowing when to expect O.
Well, I had my follow up appointment from my colposcopy and biopsy. Mild dysplasia, so not terrible news, but not the greatest. I decided to just monitor it since we are TTC. If it doesn't resolve itself ir we don't get pg in a year we will be more aggressive.
CD 9 and still waiting to O. I'm trying not to obsess as much as I did last cycle, but that's hard to do.

Hi everyone! Just wanted to say that I'm still here. Just waiting to O. Really boring and it seems like it's taking forever even though I'm only on CD9!
This is my first cycle charting and I'm just so anxious for "something" to happen. I've also been bad and forgot to take my temps the last two mornings. Luckily my cycles are usually pretty regular and I always have really good EWCM so I think that I'll pretty much know when I'm Oing even without the accurate temps. Of course, this being my first cycle charting, I could be completly off!

Hi ladies! Somewhere around 7 or 8 DPO here and more FPS have wormed their way into my head. I decided to go ahead and temp again today to see if Wednesday's high temp was a fluke, and it wasn't. After 3+ weeks of temps around 97.3-97.6 (and not even a temp jump to show I O'd), my temp on Wednesday went up to 98.1 and today was 98.4. I hope that means my body is producing more progesterone, since my Tuesday level was pretty low for post-O (but was def. high enough to confirm an O, thank goodness). I went in for another blood draw this morning and will find out tonight what my level is today. I'm crossing my fingers that it's much higher!
More FPS today = brown CM just once this morning, and then I was in B&N at lunch and got really light headed and nauseous. It might just have been b/c I hadn't eaten much, but of course I'm hoping it's a sign of something else!
Sigh, back to waiting for the doc's office to call.....
Dotsie, thanks for working with Polkadot to keep our thread running! I hadn't seen that post. Thanks to both of you for updating me - I was so excited to finally be in that "Think I've O'd" group!!! :D
gator97, thinking happy thoughts for you...
Mrs Jackson, I'm so sorry, I had such high hopes for you! :(
TazLuv, I'm sorry about such a weird chart. It definitely doesn't look like you've O'd yet.
jbemommy, welcome to the 2WW!
Michelle, I don't think it looks bad. I'm crossing my fingers for you.
Quartercentury, good luck!
giry76, welcome! I hope you're not here for long! ;)
Bellefior, sorry to hear you don't think this is the month. But I LOVE your response! Give it with a death stare and then tell us what they do!
cowgirl, thanks, me too. Your temps look like normal pre-O temps to me.
CTs Punkin, woohoo! Crossing everything for you!
Sare79, wow, that would be an early O! I guess the only thing is to really just wait and see what tomorrow brings.
jodylovesscotty, enjoy this weekend. I hope that this is finally your month!
jeant, good luck!
KristieB, glad to hear it's not that bad. Good luck not obsessing; I've given up and have just given myself over to the "dark side".
Chris-n-Jen, waiting really does suck. It seems like all we do is hurry up and wait for something to happen!

Hi Ladies,
There's only one thing worse than an obsessed TTC'er: An obsessed TTC'er with access to medical journals. :p
So I've been reading some of these today, and I have some interesting info to pass along. Several studies have found that the peak day for conception is actually two days before O! Weird, huh? I'd read another study that found higher conception rates on days -1 and 0 (with 0 being O-day). But several studies show remarkably high conception rates at 2 days and even 3 days prior to O.
One of the articles even specifically said that the peak day for conception was *not* the peak mucus day, but usually a day or two before. Maybe it takes a day for the "good stuff" to come out where we can see it.
This also means that by the time you get a positive OPK, the absolute best time might already be past -- because they usually happen the day before O. (Still a very fertile day, but maybe not as much as -2.)
So if you know your cycles and your usual O date, you might want to start 3 or 4 days before rather than 1.

You are so right! I just spent the last half hour looking at progesterone charts online, trying to figure out where I *should* be at this point.
Then my RE's office called to tell me that my progesterone level went up to 9.1, so all is good and I don't need supplements and I'm still really hopeful for this cycle. :)

jeant Thanks for sharing that! I told DH that I think it didn't happen last cycle because we missed the 3 days before O. Not making that mistake again this cycle!
gymwidow Yeah for good results and no supplements!
I'm so bored today at work and CC is one of the few sites that I frequent that isn't blocked by our filters. I may have to venture to some of the non-TTC threads and check em out.
