I've taken Letrozole (aka Femara) three times before. All three times, I developed great follicles, then had a trigger shot to make me ovulate.
I am thinking about doing Letrozole again this cycle, but this time not having a trigger shot. Has anyone else done this and had good results? I'd really like to see if I can ovulate without needles. :D
Thanks!

I've always triggered, then IUI after taking both of those drugs. Sorry i can't really be of any help. I guess my doctor wanted to make sure I O'd, so regarless, I took the trigger shot.

I've done 3 IUIs (4th one next week), 2 were on clomid and 1 on Letrozole. My 1st one we triggered, but my 2nd one we didn't--since I surged on my own & Od on cd12 (!!).
Then the 3rd one (w/letrozole) I still was getting very negative OPKS. Like so negative the line was barely there, so we had to trigger on cd13.
The reason I mention the other cycles was becasue things were so different on clomid, I was Oing or at least surging by cd14, and on the Letrozole I wasn't even close to surging on cd13. Makes me wonder, if I had a non-trigger cycle, if I would just have a late O. So maybe not too helpful for you, but knwo that if it is taking longer to O on it, don't necessarily give up?
Oh, also did you ask the Dr about increasing the dosage? I know there are people on this Femara board (http://talk.sheknows.com/forumdisplay.php?f=90) who have been on 5mg or 7.5mg, instead of the initial dosage of 2.5mg. Something to consider.

Jen - My RE wants me to trigger, but I don't want to pay the $250 for an u/s. I thought maybe I'd try it at least once to see what my body will do.
Scooter - Thanks for the link. I'm definitely going to take a look around there. I'm doing 5mg a day. In the past, I've always had follies in the 21-23mm range on CD 12, so hopefully my body will create those again and ovulate them on out!

karlatta Ouch! $250 would make me want to wait it out too. My insurance covers everything except the trigger shot ($65) and the actual insemination part of the IUI ($125), so I never really thought about it. Had I moved on to IVF my insurance would have covered everything but the medication (2-3K)... My RE would have done it, but we decided to take a break from assisted TTC.
