I just bought some blackout drapes for DD's room from the Country Curtains website, but they STINK! I guess it's whatever process they use to make them impervious to light, but I even washed them and they still stink really badly. They're going back, needless to say. Has anyone bought blackout drapes for their dc's room that they liked, or is the stinking thing universal?

We bought our blackout drapes at Bed, Bath and Beyond. The panels aren't very wide, so we had to buy two sets of 2 panels to cover one window, but they work all right and the only smell we've detected is a "Bed Bath and Beyond" smell that went away after a few days.

We got some from Home Depot that haven't smelled at all. One shade for one window wasn't cheap, but it ended up being worth the $$!

We bought blackout panels from PBK a couple years ago. They work fine, and never smelled bad. Good luck!

Thanks! I washed mine several times, and I'm hoping the smell will fade in a few days. But if it doesn't, it's good to have other options.

We bought blackout mini blinds from Home Depot or Lowe's, probably not the same thing, but they work great (tried Walmarts first and they S*CKED!). And, they don't smell;).

I have room darkening honeycomb blinds from American Blinds. We got a great deal online and they work well. If that is not enough, there are blackout blinds as well.
