Dana b I haven't seen molars yet but I am with you with wanting to throw her out the window sometimes..LOL Bryelle has been sleeping horribly lately. She does this eyes closed, crawl around whining and crying thing. Maybe she is getting some in and I just can't see them. I hope so, that would mean there's an end in sight.

jki did not realize you picked a name. cassidy is so sweet!
cohl glad you are delurking :)
no molars here yet. anyone else have babies that are starting to resist one of their naps? the ped said he should not be down to two naps until closer to 15 months and most days dylan still takes 2 two hour naps, but then their are times when he literally cruises around his crib for an hour. I am not ready for him to give up that second nap so hopefully it is still a way off!
Welcome, Cohl! :) I love the name Bryelle Morgan, it's so beautiful!
dana b:
No molars for us, yet, either! Though we do seem to have an excessive amount of drooling and crankiness, so they might be forthcoming.
Sal03:
Yup - I ordered letters for the nursery in that name and told DH that was it. We had a difficult time agreeing upon a name.
We've had some nap resistance.... but then we'll go back to 2 naps. I've also noticed Jackson's second nap is getting MUCH shorter. The 2nd nap used to be 2 hours... we are now down to 40 minutes, at best, sometimes 30! The moms in my moms groups have said the transition takes a really long time. I also have a friend whose DS took 2 naps until 19 months. With #2 coming, that's what I'm hoping for!
Hi AMC! :D

07-01-2005, 04:28 PM
welcome cohl! i've seen your dd's photo before, she's really, really cute ;)
we're still at 2 long naps with no resistance. i'm actually wanting to get to that 1 nap stage, it's so hard to do stuff during the day when you only have a 2 hr window to do your errands and get back home. i also really want (and need) to do the stroller strides class, but i can't because it's at 8:30 am and she eats her breakfast at 8 and takes her first nap at 9.
jki i can't believe you're almost due already. i hope you'll be checking in to share your tips on caring for 2 babies. i think we're going to ttc soon, i'm constantly thinking about how i'll do this-and-that with 2 of them.

I am so jealous to read about your napping babies! I don't think Elliot has taken a nap in 3...maybe 4 weeks. I am not exaggerating. She gets up in the morning, and goes all day long with not one single nap! I have tried everything. I am exhausted and extremely frustrated. I thought once she started crawling she might tire herself and want to sleep more, but no such luck. I know she is teething, she just cut her two bottom canines and she's working on the top two now. (She was a very early teether...she has 14 teeth and is working on 15 and 16). But how much longer can she go without napping? How much longer can I go!?!?! I've asked my pediatrician about this and she just says, "Oh, well some babies just aren't good nappers..." Um, hello? That is not helpful! I'm sorry for the long post, but I really needed to vent. :(
Sal03-Thanks. I figured it was time to out myself. I have lurked religiously since I first got pregnant. Don't know what took me so long.
jki- Thanks. I fell in love with it as soon as I heard it and that was it. No arguing with me. I'm glad DH loved it too. Oh and I love the name Cassidy. It was on my list for #2. I can't wait to hear all about your experiences once Cassidy gets here. I am dying for another one but I am so scared that I won't be able to keep up!
dana b Thanks!! She is such a ham!! Noa is adorable also and I love her name!! I love that picture of you and her on the other thread.
We still get 3 naps a day here. My girl is like her momma, LOVES her sleep. The only problem we've been having is that I HAVE to put her to sleep. No one else, not even daddy. If he even tries she goes bazerk!! Like "complete meltdown to the point of almost hyperventilating" meltdown. Hopefully she outgrows it soon.
Hey, is anyone taking their babies to fireworks? I am afraid that the loud noises will freak Bryelle out, but I know she would love all of the colors. Just wondering what everyone else is doing.

Soooooo glad we did this! Rather than complaining about WC over there, I'm just leaving. Hopefully I can get some of my other threads over here as well :)
Teething No molars here, but the buckets of drool have got to mean something.
Milk We switched to whole milk about a week ago and he hasn't looked back. He gets it in a sippy cup, one without a valve, for lunch, snack, and dinner. Our ped said he should get about 12 oz. a day from all dairy sources, not just milk, so I think we're okay.
Weaning The day DS turned 1, DH started putting him to bed with a bottle of formula. Previously, I had been nursing him to sleep (or close to it). About every 2-3 days, we reduced the amount of formula, but kept the amount of water the same in the hopes of also weaning him from a bottle at the same time. Tonight we're doing straight water and so far it's looking good. He still gets a paci when sleeping, but I figure there's time to get rid of that. He only has a paci when he's in his crib, so it's minimal use. Today I started giving him a bottle for naps instead of nursing. Hopefully it'll go just as easy and by the time school starts up and he goes back to day care he'll be off the bottle completely.
Naps We're kinda all over the place with this. Usually it's two naps a day, but sometimes one. His naps range from 1.5 to 3 hours long with the morning nap being the longer one. I think he could probably get away with one nap a day, but I kinda like having some time to myself, so I keep pushing for two naps, with exceptions of course. He goes to bed at 7:30 and sleeps until 7-7:30, so I know he's getting enough sleep at night as well.

Weaning
Simon is obsessed with "boo". I have weaned from pumping and now he gets "boo" when I am home. He is not ready to wean at all. When I am gone, he gets whole milk from dad. I plan to let him lead the weaning process.
Naps
He usually gets 2 naps in...one long and one short. He will almost never nap anywhere other than his swing. Since we cosleep he isn't used to being in his crib and I can count the times he has napped there on my 2 hands. If he somehow manages to sleep in the crib, his nap will be 20-30 minutes as opposed to 1-2 hours in the swing. Since he can't be on the big bed alone, we tried the swing...he looked at the fishies, listened to the music, and then fell asleep. I know this is not ideal, but it works for us for now. I don't know what we'll do when he reaches 25 lbs. I am hoping that since we will be moving that maybe we can try the crib for naps once we get over the initial adjustment period.
Fireworks
Happy 4th of July tomorrow. We plan to go to the park to watch. If I have to I can cover Simon's ears so he can watch the display. I think he won't need me to though.

Fireworks: We are going to try to take Gina. We will see how she does.
Naps: Gina usually takes a couple of naps a day, morning and afternoon. Sometimes she will take a late afternoon nap and then be up late *sigh*
Teeth: Gina has the 2 middle bottom teeth in. She is trying to get more. I don't think she has anymore yet but I'm not sure cause she won't let us look or feel around inside her mouth.

yay, i'm happy to see everyone make their way over!
jen1098 happy birthday to josh!!!
rositabean i can't believe you use the swing, too! i've never heard of anyone else doing that, it has worked so well for us, i'm totally doing it with the next one as well. i was going to try to wean her to the crib soon, but since she's so small, i'll probably hold off until she's closer to 25 lbs.
We had Jackson's 1 Year WBV on Thursday. Boy, he's quite the chunker. 25 lbs., 7.5 oz. and 32.5 inches. I guessed under 25 lbs. and DH guessed over 25. I asked about toddler formula or even continuing formula and the ped said it would be a waste of money since he's obviously growing well. Jackson is SUCH a picky little eater though... he'll eat 4 things out of 20 that he is offered. HATES vegetables. Such a waste of food.
Our ped said they should be getting 16-20 oz of milk per day - Bernie&Matt, that's interesting that your ped said 12 oz., including other dairy sources! Jackson takes 10 oz. milk/day MAX. He's just not that into it. He does a better job taking it from a BOTTLE vs. a sippy cup, so he's even still getting bottles! :( He used to LOVE YoBaby and he's now refusing it, so I rarely buy it.... though my friend told me today that they now have YoBaby with iron at Whole Foods and that might be a good way to get more iron into DS's diet.
jen1098: Happy Birthday to Josh! :)
chandy: I can't believe Elliot doesn't nap! I can't only IMAGINE your frustration. Have you tried reading any books? Sounds like a couple other babies are napping in swings - have you tried that? Ugh, I wish I could help!
luckiest, Rositabean, Kaeden's Mommy, genndan100502 - good to see you over here!

Happy Fourth of JULY!! We're going to try the fireworks tonight and see how it goes. I figure after last year (we watched fireworks on TV  ) I was going to do everything possible to see them, especially since DS's original due date was the fourth.
Milk We don't stick to 12 oz. I think he actually gets more when you factor in yougurt and cheese. I give him about 4 oz. at mealtimes, but he just isn't all that interested, drinking maybe 2-3 oz. He eats a full YoBaby at breakfast and his afternoon snack is usually cheese plus any other cheese I can sneak in. Our WBV was with a different dr, so I'm going to check again at 15 mo. with the regular dr. Believe it or not, when I was a kid, the dr. actually told my mom I drank too much milk
Weaning I have to admit, I'm the one doing it rather than waiting for DS to lead the way on this. I refuse to pump anymore now that I'm off for the summer, but I don't want DS to go into shock when he starts back at daycare and mommy's not around to nurse during the day. Plus, I think she might put him down for naps with his bottle and I want to avoid that as much as possible now that he's got teeth (and is getting more).
When summer started, he only nursed 3x/day (before naps and bed) and was probably only getting about 2 oz. each time. Switching to formula at one year for daddy to put him to bed was such a relief for me and I noticed DS was starting to nurse for less time before naps as well. When we started, I didn't know if I was even going to make it a whole month, much less the year I wanted to do. I guess I'm just trying to justify weaning in my own head  :)
Ok, I'd better get going on my last paper for grad school class. I've been procrastinating SOOOOO badly on it and it's due this week  I'd so much rather play in here :D

Jen Happy birthday to Josh! Will post more when I'm not getting buzzed off two sips of a coloada. LOL!
Milk Our ped also said between 16 and 20 oz
Weaning We are down to one nursing a day in the morning and I am going to drop that one at the end of the week :( I am really sad about it but I definitely want to be done before TTC #2
Amber Her eyes are incredible in that second pic. Gabrielle is so pretty!!
Luckiest I heard those teeth are terrible also. Hope Leah is doing okay - she certainly seems to smile through most things! :D
We took Dylan for his first haircut on Saturday! He was so good. He sat in a little car and wore a little smock and was fascinated by the whole process. Even when they used the buzzer. He looks like such a little boy to me now. On Friday he looked at DH and said Da Da. It was so cute! We are not positive he knows what he said, but it made DH's weekend! So glad to see everyone moving over here! Have a great 4th. Dylan is up so we are off to the park :)

I am glad to have found you all!
Lewis is teething like a mad man he got in his top eye teeth and it was AWFUL. up twice a night all last week. Tylenol and hylands helped.
Lewis is not the best eater. He eats much better off my plate then anything  I am a crazy mommy and and scared to take him off formula... I have whole milk for him but keep buy formula.. I have to stop but I think... ok at least I know he is getting what he needs if he drink it.. I just have to stop.
Does anyone else sign with thier babies? Lewis is SO funny. He know milk, all done, eat , sleep and more really well. We use signing with the abc song as a distraction when he is fussy so now if he wants something or is mad at us he will just take signing to try to communicate <when he is mad I think he really wants to use the sign to flip the bird at us.. heehee>
Okokok my MIL has to stop calling Lewis a chunk. It drives me crazy! He is 31 inches tall and weighs 21.6 pounds. and She insist that our Dr is wrong that there is NO way he is only 30%... um you need to go meet other babies and you will see Lewis is not a Chunk.
Lewis has finally mastered walking it is so cute. He is such a little man. We had my DH friends over to tear down our garage yesterday and they brought thier kids with for me to take care of < I really think the Mommies are smart.. if my DH was going to go off and help a friend do a home improvemnt project I would be irked if I had to lose DH time And not get any alone time. and plus they all know I am crazy about their kids. I brought some clay home from my studio and had them do "pottery" and I am going to fire and glaze thier projects and send them to them in the mail.> Lewis was in awe of the children he wanted to touch them and follow them it was fun.
I hope everyone has a great 4th!

Hmm...Elliot hasn't been in the swing for months now, but I'm thinking about digging it out of the attic. I wonder if she would tolerate a nap in there? Anything is worth a try at this point! I know as soon as she gets these last two canines in she'll start her 2-year molars, but at least then we'll be done with teething...Maybe then she'll nap!! (Wishful thinking)
weaning: We're definitely not ready to wean yet (at least she isn't ready). She still nurses to sleep and gets most of her nutrition from nursing. She hasn't figured out the sippy cup and isn't too crazy about finger foods yet. I figure we have to take care of that before we can even think about weaning.
Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Umm I know there was lots of things Ihad to comment on now I dont remember this.
Milk: Ped said 16-18 oz a day. He also said not more than 24 I think, for something to do with iron. Yep Im a bad mother because I dont remember exactly. It took a few weeks for Matheson to get into whole milk but now he will drink it all day if I give it to him. But he will pretty much drink anything I give him too
Nap: M still takes 2. I dont know if its because I like the 2 nap schedule or because he needs it. Some days he will only get one and miss his afternoon nap and be just fine. But that morning nap is a must.
I have M down to 3 meals a day and a snack. He wants to eat off my plate alot. So he will basically put anything off my plate in his mouth, but he might not actually eat it :) He hasnt been eating really well lately either. He acts like hes not hungry and he doesnt seem to feel any lighter when Im carrying him so I guess hes ok.
On the run also. He is everywhere. If he has something in his hand that he thinks he might not need he will take off and giggle the whole way. Or do his best to walk around you so you cant take it from him
I guess thats about it. I do like the format of this alot better than the new WC.

I meant to put it here but put in 12-18 month olds instead..darn mommy brains.
I am convinced that becoming a mommy has turned me into a sap!! LOL I am very upset that today is Bryelles last "first" holiday. Does that make sense? Now I won't be able to say this is her first (insert holiday here). Am I the only one who thinks of this stuff??
Turns out we didn't have to worry about the fireworks. She has been sleeping since before it was dark. Oh well, maybe next year.
Hope everyone had a good holiday weekend!!

Cohl OMG it is SO funny you said that! We took Dylan to the park yesterday and suddenly DH and I looked at each other and said that this is Dylan's first 2nd holiday. He was less than a week old last year on the 4th of July. So now all the holidays are repeats. So I guess we are saps right there with ya :D
Fireworks We had been living in NYC for so many years we forgot what the 4th is like in the burbs. People were setting off fireworks all night. I was jumping every 15 minutes but luckily Dylan slept through it!
Naps Ok so yesterday Dylan took a 3 hour nap from 9am to noon and then just played in his crib during his afternoon "nap". I guess it makes sense if at this age they need 12-14 hours of sleep. He gets about 11.5 at night and if he has one really long nap, he will not need the second. Hopefully this is just a stage and he goes back to his regular naps. I am really dreading the one afternoon nap schedule. The morning would be fine, but the 1pm nap ...how do you ever make plans and leave the house? You have to get together with people at 10am?
Noni I have not been that great with keeping up with signs but we do use, milk eat and water. He definitely knows milk and eat and gets all excited. I want to learn more and all done. Have to get out the video and keep at it with Dylan. He does not do them back yet.
Monique That pic of him in his crown is too cute!
Hope everyone had a great 4th :D

Cohl I understand. I think being a mom does make you a sap too. I will cry at anything that envolves kids and babies. I was never that way before.
We didnt do any fireworks. I didnt think Matheson would really be into them this year and the booming might scare him. I actually dont remember the last time we did anyting with fireworks. Hmmm

It's good to know I'm not alone!! I was never much of a sappy person at all before becoming a mommy. Since I had Bryelle it is crazy the things that will have me sobbing. My DH thinks the change is hysterical.
Any other mommies find that their babys vocabularies took a huge jump right around their first birthday? Last week Bryelle knew 2 words..dada and baba. Over the last couple of days, however, she has learned so many new ones!! She now says mom, Oma (my grandmothers "nickname"), JJ (her cousin that lives right across the street), Zizzy (my sister's name is Lizzie) and she says huh? (thanks to her cousin). I can't believe the number of things she has learned in a couple of days. She also started to walk (not across a room or anything but at least 5 or 6 steps). I would love to hear what everyone else's experiences were.
