i have a question for the ladies. my gyn said that the next course of action might be clomid. i know there is a pretty high chance of having multiples with it. i am very worried about that bc that might mean bedrest, and as i am going to school full time, it would be hard for me to have to take a break from school. does anyone else share my concerns about the possiblity of having a multiple birth. it's not that i am so against it. it just worries me a little bit.

Rebjc - My RE used Letrozole (also called Femara) instead of Clomid. He said that it lowered the chances of multiples, and the side effects are better.
Also, when you do Clomid or Letrozole, some doctors will have you come in for a Day 12 ultrasound to see how many follicles you have. That would give you a good indication, before you even conceived, as to how likely you might be to have multiples.
jennylou
11-25-2005, 07:37 AM
reb - Actually, when considering fertility drugs, clomid is considered a low level drug. It also only has an 8-10% increased chance of multiples. That's an increase over your regular chances at it. I don't really worry about things like bedrest and my job. I worry about DH not being able to hook me up online for the first several days of bedrest. :p I'd rather be online than watch tv. ;)
karla - I updated you. Be sure and stop back often to see us.
wonderousglance - How are things with you?
Hope everyone had a nice holiday. It was tough, and we shed some tears, but it wasn't nearly as bad as I expected.

I hope you all had a good Thanksgiving. Ours was very laid back and small this year since a lot of family members were unable to come into town.
Jenny~I am relieved to hear that your Thanksgiving wasn't as hard as you had anticipated.
rebjc~I am writing my thesis next summer and defending it in the fall, so I have worried about bedrest, due dates, etc. Plus, I am a teacher and looking for something new after this school year, so I have also worried about finding a new job and all this happening. However, since this process has become longer and more involved than I thought, I am not worried about it anymore. There is a strong possibility that I could switch jobs, finish my thesis, and even graduate before getting pg or having a baby, so I just let go of my concerns about school and work.
thedoorchick~Hope AF shows soon so you can get moving on the next cycle!
I decided to ask my mom's aunt and my great grandmother about their fertility troubles yesterday. I was curious as to what the issues were exactly. As it turns out, my mom's uncle had had a surgery in the military and they accidentally nicked something - I don't remember now what - but it prevented the sperm from travelling properly. They tried to do corrective surgery but it didn't work. They adopted my mom's cousin. This was all back in the late 50's - early 60's. My great grandmother had her two children with no problem and then had a series of miscarriages. She ended up having an infection in one of her tubes, which was removed along with the ovary. She was never able to get pg again and had a full hysterectomy in the 50's. We talked about the testing I am going through and it was a really good conversation because they understood my frustrations. It was so nice. Usually I hear from my mom that we are "trying too hard" and that we "just need to relax." And my aunt always brings up how all my uncle had to do was look at her and she got pg. It was just nice to talk to people in my family who understood. Oops! Didn't mean to ramble for so long! Have a good Friday.

rebjc - I don't worry too much about the chances of multiples with Clomid - I know there is an increased risk but I figure, there's not much use worrying about it until it actually happens. I worry more that the Clomid won't work at all but I can understand that it would be stressful to have a multiples pregnancy.
jenny - Glad that Thanksgiving wasn't as bad as anticipated and that you have DH to lean on for support at these times.
UT - I felt so much better after I talked to my mom about her and my grandmother's fertility problems. It's nice to have someone IRL (other than DH) who you can share these things with. (off-topic* Are you getting ready to watch the big game today??)
As for me, AF showed up this morning. I was fully expecting it after my temp dropped two days ago. Expected it but still disappointed. I'm more disappointed that DH hasn't been able to get in and get his SA done yet so I can't start Clomid this cycle. :( I'm really just hoping that this cycle goes by fast so that we can move on to the next one where I'll be able to start meds!

Hi all,
I haven't been posting much, but have been lurking.
An update on me - I had my laparoscopy and hysteroscopy in Oct and they diagnosed stage 2 endo. Three days after my surgery AF came, so I started a cycle of injectibles with IUI - my 5th IUI, 3rd with Gonal-F. Unfortunately, i didn't have a very good response to the meds and triggered with only 1 x 15 mm follie and a bunch of 8 mm follies. As expected, BFN and AF showed today.
Today I went in for baseline US and labs. My estrogen and FSH are fine but I have a 43 mm cyst on left ovary and a 13 mm cyst on my right. Heck knows where they came from, given the pathetic follies I had at trigger. Anyway, I am allowed to start meds (Gonal-F again) on Sunday, but if the cyst grows with the meds we will have to cancel this cycle. This is my last cycle before moving onto IVF, so please keep your fingers crossed for us that it won't have to be cancelled.
Threadmistress - can you update my stats to 10/23 IUI with injectibles BFN? I'm putting this in bold and italics because for some reason I can't find how to change the color of the font anymore. Can anyone tell me where it has gone?

Lucy - I'm so sorry for what you are going through right now. Don't be afraid to take all the time you need to heal and greive. We're here for you.
Jenny - I'm so glad to hear that you were able to get through Thanksgiving.
kemorr - I'm wishing you the best this cycle!
rebjc - I only did Clomid for one cycle so far and I haven't had multiples...LOL...seriously though, the chances are pretty low.
Please update my stats to Clomid 100mg in OCt 2005. Also, hubby is a year older now. Thanks!

Jenny, I'm glad the holiday wasn't as tough as you thought it would be, hopefully you got to enjoy some of it.
kemorr & katmg, I hope this next cycle brings you luck!
Hope everyone else had a good holiday.
thanks for all the input. i should just be happy if clomid works at all and not worry about multiples, but i am just very practical, and in addition to being a mother i want to have a successful career. i am sure this is something many of you worry about too, so i know it's not unique to me.

As for me, CD1, AF showed in full glory this morning. The sad part is I was sure this month was it. I cried today and had a little pity party for myself. I got to the Doctor on Tuesday to get CD3 bloodwork done. I am starting to think that maybe we should take a break for awhile from TTC because this has really been rough on both of us :( We'll see how my results come back and then decide.
Hope to see some more BFPs around here soon!

LAbride- so sorry about the chemical pregnancy.
As for me, AF arrived on Thanksgiving Day. I had been expecting her for a few days so it wasn't a shock. But, of course, I was disappointed. I made an appointment for an RE in January--when I get on DH's insurance.

Jenny - Fabulous news! I will think sticky thoughts for you!!
My update - I induced the m/c Tuesday night. It was horrid. I inserted the pills around 8pm, started cramping about an hour later so I went to bed stupidly thinking I could just sleep my way through the whole thing. I was up at 1am in serious PAIN. I went in and sat in the bathroom for the next THREE hours. I was at my lowest point ever while I sat there. I alternated with crying, moaning from the pain, and praying to God to make the pain stop. Poor DH...he had an early meeting on Wednesday and was up almost the whole night listening to me. Around 4am, I was literally falling asleep on the toilet so I managed to get myself into bed and to sleep. I pretty much slept all day on Wednesday. I just couldn't stay awake to get out of bed.
I am a bit concerned that I am still bleeding a bit. It's been 5 days. With my last m/c, I remember seeing some large clumps of tissue, but I didn't see much with this one which makes me wonder if it's all gone or not. Last time In only bled for maybe two days. If I am still bleeding by Tuesday, I will call my doctor and see what they say.
Emotionally, I am still all over the place. I go from feeling fine and happy one minute to being in tears the next. I went to the Sharks game last night with my girlfriends and had such a fun time and then came home and cried myself to sleep.
Anyway, right now I am just going to focus on our Disney World trip. We leave on Friday! Thanks to everyone for their good wishes!

Jenny here's a very cautious and happy congrats to you and DH!
Good looking new thread as well!
I need some *snarky* comeback lines for those nosey people wanting to know the details of TTC issues. The *none of your busines* and *nice* comments aren't effective!
Lucy Sorry to hear your news.

Thank you ladies for all of the congrats. We are very cautiously optimistic right now. I am praying wholeheartedly for a very sticky baby right now.
I have a call into my OBs office, but par for the course, the nurse still hasn't called me back. It's only been about six hours. I want to check my betas and my progesterone. If you were around during the time of my first pregnancy you may recall that my progesterone was very low and I was on progesterone suppositories until about 10 weeks. I'm getting antsy that the dang nurse hasn't returned my call!

Quiet Congrats Jenny! You are definitely in my thoughts and prayers.
Lucy I love WDW, I am so jealous you get to go! Christmas at Disney is fabulous. Have a good time, you deserve it. Use it as a vacation from all the TTC stress, don't think about it once while you are there :D
I am CD 10/11 today. I have my sono on Wednesday. I am on 100mg of clomid this month, but I am not feeling a thing. I felt O cramps every day from CD5-17 on 50mg, this month there is nothing. I am really hoping it is working in there.
We are doing IUI for MFI, but DH's sperm count was very normal at the last IUI (100 mil/mL). If it is normal again this month (and we get a BFN) we are going to go back to timed intercourse.

Congratulations, Jenny! :) I hope that the nurse called back.
I am on CD11. This is my first month on clomid. No side effects at all....I hope that it's working! I'm not feeling very optimistic about it. Just in the waiting game now, I guess. I've been temping. My temp. was around 98-98.3 during the days I took clomid. This morning it was 97.3. Is this a fluke, or does clomid cause your temp. to rise?

Welcome to the new ladies.
Congratualtions to Jennylou!!!
Behind on the thread. Spent the past 4-5 days with my in-laws and SIL who is 27 weeks with twins. It was all things baby...shopping, names, sewing, kicking, pictures, ultrasounds..........
Myself.....flying off for an MRI this week to determine if my uterine abnormality is bicornuate or septate. I'm now 16 cycles without any sign of BFP and anticipating a huge delay depending on the MRI results and any needed surgery.
I touched base with my family doc today to discuss my ObGyn's management plan and I'm feeling more reassured...sort of.
Marching onward..........

I just ordered some OPKs from a website suggested by Jenny - told DH that I think next month, we should go totally scientific with charting and OPKs and really try to pinpoint when that little egg sucker is heading for freedom... And then I managed to depress myself by figuring that even if next month IS our month, we won't be able to announce a pregnancy at Christmas. I seriously need to get my emotions in check or the holidays are going to suck ass. Maybe a cinnamon roll will help... :)

Just checking in. I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving.
Small congrats to Jenny!
I went to the doctor this morning. I've been nauseated and having abdominal pains since last Wednesday. The doc thinks it is just a virus, but took 4 vials of blood. She also suggested I might be pregnant, even though I'm on CD11. I took a pregnancy test and it was BFN, of course. Now, I'm anxiously awaiting the results of the blood tests. I'm hoping it is just a virus and nothing serious.

I made an appointment w/ the OB/Gyn (Kaiser) and the earliest appointment is for December 15th. I am wondering what I should bring to the appointment. They said that I will be discussing the infertility issues with them and that then they would refer me to an RE. Should I bring all 18 cycles of my charts? What do they usually ask? Any information on how your appointments went (what you did, what they asked, course of action, etc.)would be greatly appreciated. I am glad we are finally seeking medical intervention as 18 cycles w/o a BFP would indicate something is wrong.
Thanks in advance.

Jules, I can't find a link to your chart and I'm dying here to see it! Please post it! But go buy an HPT first and test test test!! :D (I thought you needed more peer pressure.)
Judy, I know we PM'd about this awhile ago, so let me know if you don't have that PM saved and I can resend it. When I went to the ob (both Kaiser & with a previous ob) , she just wanted to know how long we'd been trying, that I did know when I was ovulating, and that I'd had some of the basic tests run. They wanted me to have a pap and STD screening exam. I did bring my charts, even though it wasn't that necessary, just to show that I'd been on top of things, knew when I ovulated, that we were BDing at the right times, etc. Then the Kaiser ob gave me a referral to the RE and DH & I had to attend the "Infertility Class" before I got to have the intial consult with the RE. At the class they give you lab slips for the FSH & estradial test on cd3 and the progesterone test at 7dpo ("cd21"), and you have to have them done before the RE consult. The problem with that is the timing, so you'll need to schedule that class right away so you don't have to wait an extra cycle in between the class and the consult. The consult is the appt where you lay out all your charts & history & info and come up with a treatment plan. Good luck!

Scooter! Thanks for checking in on us. Hope you are doing well w/ your preganancy. I do have the PM you sent me but I forgot I still had that :o I reread it and it answered everything for me! Thanks so much for that. I was hoping that just the OB visit would get us some bloodwork and sperm analysis BEFORE seeing an RE but that obviously isn't how they work. Thanks again Scooter and take care of yourself and your little one :)

Thanks, Judy! :D We just had our big u/s yesterday and things are going great so far (except perpetual morning sickness). We're waiting to hear official results from the Dr. And I forgot to say, at the class they also give you a lab slip (and a cup, I think) so DH can get his SA done. That's just how Kaiser does it, so how fast you get in to the RE depends on how fast you get into the ob & the class--and where you are in your cycle.
Back to lurking. Wishing everyone well during the always difficult holiday season, and renewed hope for the new year. :)

Good Luck Jules!
And Congrats to Jen
As for me, thanks for the warm welcome. DH & I have been trying for 1yr come December.
A little history about me -
I have been off BCP since November 04 -
MY DH & I moved to CO in April (which was coincidentally the last month I've O'd)
I thought that I didn't O because of stress -so tried to not worry too much about it. A move, new job and new house in 3 months is quite a lot to take....
But come September when all was calm & bright - still nothing... and again, still nothing this month. Went to my DR in Oct to get Clomid. She did a battery of blood work (all normal) and I had an HSG earlier this month and I "may" have a blocked left tube (the dye went up the tube, but didn't flow out into my abdomen). My Dr has now recommended I go to an RE.
I want to give it an old college try in DEC just using the Clomid to see what happens, and have the RE appt in January.
DH still needs to have his SA done - but he keeps postponing... I'll need to give him a little nudge pretty soon here.
Thanks again for the warm welcome!

Good Luck Jules!
DH still needs to have his SA done - but he keeps postponing... I'll need to give him a little nudge pretty soon here.
I'm there with you, CTs_punkin. I've been trying to get my DH to get his SA done for over a month now. He keeps coming up with reasons to wait.... I'll be glad if we can get it done by early Jan!
julesp313 - Wow, your chart looks good! I'm pulling for you. :) Can't wait to hear the results!
--------------
ME: CD 12. Just sitting waiting to ovulate. Had a good amount of CM while taking clomid, but now it seems to have dried up. I'm hoping that I'll wait a few more days to ovulate. DH is currently taking law exams. He studies most of the day, and isn't really in the mood for BD. His last exam is Monday...that would be CD 18.
Question: I know that stress can prevent you from ovulating...can it still have the same effect even though you've taken clomid? Anyone know?

Congrats Jules!!! How wonderful!
Me: I had another U/S this morning. I had one mature follie 19x19 but my lining is still too thin. I also had 3 follies that should be mature in the next day or two so I am not sure what my doc is going to have me do. My lining was 8.0 and he wants it at 9 at the time of trigger. We had agreed that if there was more than 1 mature follie we would not trigger so...guess I'll have to wait another hour to find out.....

Congratulations Jules!!
I signed up and then didn’t come back to the thread. I have some downtime today, so I thought I’d give a little more information to introduce myself.
I do have to say that I’m very happy to not recognize most of the names of the members of the thread and to see that most of the ladies who were posting when I was participating have good news and are expecting. Congratulations Jenny and Jules on your bfp!!!
We started to ttc in November 2003 and began treatment at my RE in April 2004.
In that time, I’ve tried three cycles of clomid – nothing happened on 50mg, ovulated and had an IUI the first cycle on 100 mg, but the second cycle of 100 mg, nothing. So we’ve moved onto injectables. The first cycle on follistim, I responded a little too well and the cycle was cancelled. The next cycle was taken very slowly and I ovulated. Third cycle was a repeat of the first one with too many follicles and a cancelled cycle. The fourth cycle was again slow and I eventually ovulated and had an IUI. This was back in August of this year. The day before my beta, I was offered and accepted a new job. The beta was negative and I decided to take a cycle off to start my new job without any stress from cycling at the RE.
When I was ready to start a new cycle, I was put on provera to induce a period. For some reason, it took longer than usual for AF to arrive. When I went in for day 3 monitoring, I had a small cyst and the beta comes back just over five, which of course meant I was pregnant - a chemical pregnancy. My RE’s office assured me that the provera had nothing to do with it and there was nothing I could have done to prevent it. So here I am, waiting to start another cycle. I could have already started provera to begin a cycle, but with holiday travel and some scheduled business travel, I have to wait until next early next year.
Thank you everyone for your warm welcome and I'm sorry I've written such a long post,
Catherine

This will be my third appt this week and they are SO NOT flexible when it comes to appt. times. They don't open until 9 and leave at 4...I was offered either a 9, 11:30 or 1 appt. I work in healthcare and go in to work at 6:30....so I took the 11:30...only problem is I work contract and tomorror is my first day at this new building...hope they don't mind my leaving for a bit in the middle of the day...Ah well.

Congrats jules!!
Welcome Cath.
Alioop~I know what you mean. I am a teacher, so I just can't leave in the middle of the day to go to an appt. Luckily my new doctor starts seeing patients at 7am so I usually get an appt that early and then just have to drive one exit south to work. It is nice to have a dr. who understands scheduling issues.
Well, I am at home today. I have a sinus infection and got antibiotics last night. I went to work this morning and ran into my principal in the hall. She took one look at me and sent me home - said I didn't have a choice. I am on CD 15 and the earliest I have ever O'ed is CD 19, so I have at least a few more days. That is good because I have not felt like BDing all week. Last night DH was saying that I needed to start feeling better or we are going to miss out this cycle. :) Hopefully I will feel better tomorrow.

Jenny - CAUTIOUS CONGRATS! :)
Jules - Yay, congrats….been silently lurking to find out.
Thedoorchick - Sorry about your DH SA.
Cath - Welcome back. Sorry to hear about you having to wait out another cycle and the chemical pg, frustrating. {{HUGS}}
I have an HSG question, did it matter what part in the cycle you had it done. I was hoping to have it right before my next AF, but they told me it must be between CD 7-10. And if I did it on CD 10, is it ok to TTC that cycle(cd 12-14)? The left over fluid they put in doesn’t affect the sperm or eggs?
Just wondering. I have had one before, but I don’t know guess I didn’t think of these before.
Does anyone else notice that people around them sort of dismiss IF after a while? I mean I admit, even I get tried of talking about it all the time. But lately I have noticed when I vent to my best friend, who used to be one of my top supporters who I could always go to about this stuff, sort of just ignores it now. I just don’t feel like I can vent to her anymore. She and my mom always just tell me to be positive. Like when I told them I was not holding my breath that my tubes will be unblocked this next HSG they tell me to think positive and maybe they will. Obviously, I feel like there is some hope, otherwise, why would I be doing this terrible test again, but why cant I just go into it realistically without them thinking I am negative? I don’t know, just wondering if anyone else experiences any of this with their friends or family……
Best wishes to everyone this next month!

tigerest~I had my HSG on CD 6 (last week). My doctor told me it needed to be done before CD 10. My doctor encouraged us to continue TTC this cycle since sometimes the HSG can be known to "flush out" the tubes. I have heard of a lot of people getting pg on cycles when they had an HSG.
BTW, on your situation with your friend... When you have been TTC for an extended period of time and month after month you get your hopes up, only to be disappointed, there comes a time when (for your own sanity) you change your way of thinking. Whether it is being realistic or "negative," sometimes it is easier not to appear positive because it protects you a little from the disappointment. Until your friend walks in your shoes (not that I wish IF on anyone) she probably won't truly understand what is going on in your head and your heart.
Alioop~Thanks. After spending the day sleeping and being lazy, I am feeling a lot better.

I'm having a really rough night. Out of the blue, while talking to my SIL, I just started to cry...I think it's starting to hit me that if I hadn't miscarried in April, I would be having a baby any day now. And at that time, I consoled myself by telling myself that of course I would be pg by my due date...after all, at the time it was 8 months away! And here I am....not pg. Could this be any more difficult?! :( I had a good cry and my SIL was surprisingly supportive and comforting, so hopefully today's pity party has come to a close...it's just so strange b/c I was feeling totally fine earlier and *boom*...tears. Can I blame the Clomid?
***
tigerest ~ I have definitely noticed that some people are more dismissive (is that a word?!) when it comes to IF. I certainly haven't been going through this for as long as some other people but I have noticed that some of my friends who were gung-ho supporters in the beginning have become more distant when it comes to IF. It's like the no longer have anything to say b/c the whole "Im sure it will happen soon" line just hasn't panned out and they don't want to say the wrong thing. I try not to take it personally...

Okay I am sorry I didn't really finish my last post. I was saying to remain positive (which trust me after three years isn't easy). But please let me tell my story. I decided to try accupuncture, Vitex and positive thinking. I visualized the egg maturing, being released etc. And made plans that would include me getting pregnant that month. I REFUSED to think anything else, after three years, you sometimes (at least I did) get into the mindset of *I don't want to get my hopes up again* I erased that....only thinking positive. I really believe this helped, along with the accupuncture and vitex. Take care

Congrats to Jules! Fabulous news!
Babylove - so sorry about your rough night!
My update - I am still bleeding from my m/c over a week ago. Yesterday I went in for bloodwork and saw the doc today. After taking the m/c pills and having the night from hell last week, my levels have actually INCREASED. UGH! Of course, they are still WAY too low, so the doctor said this means, I might have a tubal or, more likely, I just still have enough placenta and tissue in my uterus to keep producing the hormones. he wanted me to take a different med (can't remember the name) which is almost like a form of chemotherapy that should help get rid of the rest of the tissue, but since I am leaving for vacation in two days, he can't. I would have ot be closely monitored or something like that. He decided to not do anything and just let nature take its course.
Well, after thinking about it for a few hours, I called back and asked about a d&c. He didn't really want to go that drastic, but understood my reasons so I am having a version of a d&c Friday morning. Then I can be nice and drugged up for the drive up to my parents house and then the flight to New York and Florida. I'm not looking forward to the procedure, but I am looking forward to having this overwith.
My mind and body are just exhausted. I am considering taking a break from all of this TTC nonsense to let my poor body heal. It's just too much right now.

UTCHick - That is totally what it is. Part of it is me accepting this and just trying to deal with it and another is just not getting my hopes up anymore. Why not be pleasantly surprised rather than disappointed ya know...
babylove - Ya I try to to take things personally, but sometimes it just makes me feel like people are just tired of hearing me talk about it. But like you said they probably just dont know what to say anymore. Sorry about yoru rough night. A good cry is always helpful though. Hope you feel better. {{HUGS}}
Lucy - So sorry. :( Hope things go smoothly for you on Friday and you are able to have a relaxing trip. {{HUGS}}
Thanks for eveyones response about the HSG. I guess I just never realized it before.

I guess being brand-newly pg means you go to sleep at 7pm but you're wide awake at 5am...
Had a tiny TINY bit of brown-tinged CM yesterday so of course freaked out, but thankfully my friend in NY calmed me down. Tested yesterday when I got home and got a line on FRER. Tested this AM with Equate, FRER and CBE Digital (can we say obsessed????) - the lines are not much darker but seeing the "Pregnant" on the digital was wonderful. Must take a photo because it only lasts an hour!
Tigerest - on the HSG, I had mine done at CD13 but I had to sign a waiver that if I was pg and MC due to the HSG, I couldn't hold the med center liable. Dr said it's usually done CD7-10 to ensure there's no chance of pg. And although I had a "nothing in the vagina" restriction for 48hrs, dr's definitely encourage BDing that cycle as (like others have said) often the HSG clears things out.
Emily - how silly of the RE! Did he really think you were just there for the fun of it? Honestly, sometimes the tales I hear about medical places just makes me wonder how any of us stay healthy...
Babylove - so sorry to hear you had a rough night. I think - no, I KNOW - it happens to us all at one time or another. Over Thanksgiving, I found out that friends of the ILs family were expecting their second child in May - their first will be 10 months old. So I went and cried in the bathroom at the unfairness of life. Felt good to get it out!
Chloe - my mother is a HUGE believer in thinking positively and visualizing the result you want. I don't know that I'm as good at it as she is, but it certainly can't hurt!
Knoelani - Thank you, and yes, those digital tests ROCK. :)
Lucy - Thank you, and I'm so sorry that you're having a bad time. I hope you have an easy day on Friday (easy physically, if not emotionally) and that things improve for you very soon.
LABride - Thank you!
OK, off to photograph my test collection!

but why cant I just go into it realistically without them thinking I am negative? I don’t know, just wondering if anyone else experiences any of this with their friends or family……
Yeah, I am at that point as well. I don't "plan" to be pregnant anymore, and my family now thinks I am not pregnant because I am so negative  I think it's because they just don't know what to say anymore. So "stay positive" is all they can come up with. I casually mentioned that DH and I may never have any children and my MIL damn near broke down in tears about it. I am no fool, I know that there is a good chance we will never have kids. Just "relaxing" and "staying positive" isn't going to help.

Jenny and Jules COngrats on your BFPS!
Lucy I am so sorry this has been so hard. I hope you are able to take a wonderful break and enjoy your vacation.
JJ, BabyLove, and CTS Welcome! Its good to see some familar people but I am sorry you have to join our group. This is a great and supportive group of ladies. I hope none of you are here long.
Cts- My journal is called "When is it our turn?". Looks like we are feeling about the same right now by your siggy.
babylove- Sorry you had a rough night. I am glad someone was there for you.
Elenna Hope you are feeling better.
Hugs to all of you whom AF has found.
Sorry i havent been here in a while. I was away for the hoolidays and in the boring part of my cycle. I will start OPK's this weekend and hopefully an IUI in the next 2weeks.
I am in the same boat as many of you. To many dates have passed when I thouhg I would be pg. I try to be positive, but then i end up being even more devastated when AF shows once again. After 15months of TTC I am getting tired of the pg questions. More and more people are finding out we are trying but only a few know what we are actually dealing with. I just keep hoping it will happen soon. I have a very awesome support system including my mom, grandma, aunt(who dealt with IF, never got pg), best friend, and many others praying for us.
I am so thankful for all of them.

julesp313 - Congratulations!
I wanted to ask a question: What was the latest CD that you ovulated while on clomid? I am on CD 14 on my first clomid cycle. I haven't ovulated yet (which is fine, it's still early), and I don't have any signs that I will ovulate - no CM, temps are very low.
jennylou
12-01-2005, 03:31 PM
suz - latest on clomid was CD 21.
Well, I finally got my beta results from Monday. They were a 46. I had a repeat done today. And a rhogham shot. You see I'm AB- and my husband is O+ so our bloodtypes are not compatible. If the baby has a positive bloodtype I can start producing antibodies against it. Anyways, you normally only get one at 28 weeks and after birth (if baby has pos blood type). So, you're probably wondering how I ended up getting one of these. Well, I started spotting last night. Just a bit of red. Freaked out, naturally. Even called the emergency number. Of course, unless I started gushing, they said to take it easy and call the office in the morning. So, I called this morning and Dr K squeezed me into her schedule. I got there just after 9:30 am, and finished up around 12:30 pm. I was hungry, so I went to lunch. Then I went back to the hospital for another HcG draw and the rhogham. Now, we just wait to see what these numbers do. I also have another lab slip for Sunday. As long as I don't start gushing or having any pain, I just have to wait it out. The spotting this morning was just brown and this afternoon is more of a brownish (definitely less than this morning in quantity). So, now we wait.

What was the latest CD that you ovulated while on clomid?
CD 18....the first two cycles on clomid (when I took it CD 5-9), I O'd on CD 17. Then when I took the clomid this time, I took it on CD 2-6....I thought that would mean that I would O earlier....but no. Later, just one day, but still.

Can I ask you knowledgeable ladies a question?
I **think** I am 2 DPO on my first Clomid cycle. My chart is completely weird. Back when he prescribed the Clomid, the doc also ordered progesterone suppositories without doing any bloodwork. Should I go ahead and start them or request to go in for a blood draw at 7 DPO? I am so confused! He never really explained why he thought I might need them. Of course I don't want to do anything to jepordize the pregnancy. Thanks in advance.

Jennylou - Congratulations. I'm sorry you had such a scare earlier.
Jules - Congratulations.
Lucy - I'm so sorry
Labride - I'm so sorry
I know my shoutout list is incomplete. I have been reading along though and silently cheering you all on. I'm not actively ttc at the moment and I think I'm going on a break from the RE until February. I had just written a big post telling what I've been up to and it got deleted. I'm going to add injectibles to my next cycle, I started metformin, and I'm going to start the baby aspirin after IUI next time. I'm also going to get one more blood test for DH and I to see if HLA compatibility is an issue. I doubt it though if most of my other tests were normal. I guess I am not optimistic but I want to give things one more try so I'm thinking 4 more IUIs under the RE and thats it.

My understanding is the progestrone won't hurt anything even if you take them without really needing them.
Jenny: Those are great numbers! I'm glad the spotting stopped.
I have my first RE appointment this Monday. I was able to find an RE who could get me in much earlier than March.:) I'm nervous about it. One thing that has come of making the RE appointment is that I had to get my records from my GYN to bring to the RE. I looked over them:o , because I was curious, and noticed an entry that says I have a retroverted uterus! This was never mentioned to me in all my years of going to a GYN (and I've been going once a year for over a decade)!! How could this have never come up? I know it isn't a big deal, but still...
jjsanner - I would start the progesterone anyway. I would ask for the blood draw too. They can also tell by that whether you've ovulated. The only thing though is I don't know if the progesterone suppositories would affect the progesterone blood test though. Sorry!
babylove
12-02-2005, 03:11 PM
jjsanner ~ Even if you don't have low progesterone, in some people Clomid causes the thinning of the uterine lining. Obviously, you need a thick lining to sustain a pgcy, so many drs prescribe the progesterone just in case. And as someone before me said, progesterone won't hurt even if you don't need it. Which prog suppositories do you have? Those little glycerin-like bullet-shaped things or Prochieve (comes in an applicator)? I have tried both and like the latter much much better. The first kind leaks out constantly and it's so annoying. The Prochieve stays put for the most part.
ETA: if you are taking prog supplements, the value of a serum progesterone is essentially meaningless except to show that your prog is high enough. If you are on the supps, you have no idea if the prog # is from the supplements or if it's just you. KWIM? But there's no harm in checking!
jenny ~ Congrats! Sorry about the scare but it sounds like everything is a-ok! :)

Well, I have bad news. I think this was a chemical pregnancy. I was spotting brown very slightly yesterday and got a very faint positive on an HPT. Today, I got a stronger positive but I'm bleeding red and my boobs are much less sore. I would say it's not a viable pregnancy.
Despite being obviously upset, I'm still happy that this happened because now we know we CAN get pregnant, which was always in question. Next time, I'm going to insist on a blood test immediately after I find out, just in case I need progesterone or something.
So, trying to stay positive about this...
Can you please update my stats to "Chem pg, 11/05".
ETA: See below post! And now instruct me to stop freaking myself out!!!
And Hold off on any status changes til I get my head out of my ass and find out what's going on!

12-03-2005, 08:08 AM
Apparently I'm panicking earlier than I should be... According to the wonderful ladies on CC, it's not considered a chem pg or an early MC (which apparently is a loss after AF is due) until I'm getting BFNs. Today's BFP is the darkest I've gotten so I'm not sure what's going on. Also, no more bleeding or spotting. I'm trying to find out if I can get a quantitative HCG blood test without a dr's slip to find out what my betas are...
Alioop - thank you for your thoughts, but hopefully I was just getting ahead of myself!
ETA: Jenny - I'm so glad your numbers are good! Makes me smile to hear that... :)

julesp313 - Hoping for a sticky baby. How are you doing?
--------------------------------------
First of all, thank you to everyone who responded with what CD they ovulated while on clomid. This being my first cycle, I have been slightly confused. It's hard figuring out everything when clomid takes away your CM, so thanks. :)
OK girls. I am just so darned excited right now! I know that it may be a little too early to say this, but I think that i may have o'd. I have posted by chart below.
I have recorded CM, but on paper b/c with so little of it I'm not always sure what it is, and I don't want to put it in FF unless I'm sure. For the past two days I *think* that I've had watery, but I'm not quite sure. I check my cervix two days ago and I *think* that it was the softest I've ever felt (but I'm not really sure what "soft" would feel like), and it seemed open (but I'm not really sure how that feels either).
I know that I need a few more temps before I can be a little more confident, but if I did ovulate - that would be HUGE! :D
My Chart (http://www.fertilityfriend.com/home/90828)
sorry for the long post...
ETA: the open circle post temps were taken one to two hours later than the closed circle temps

suzfuzsunflower~Here's hoping you did O! Looking at your chart, you may have. Hopefully those temps will stay up so you can confirm it in a couple of days.

jenny~Betas looking good!!

Jenny Those are great #'s, sounds like everything is going well. I'm still sending you good luck wishes.
Jules You're cracking me up. I'm sending a whole load of good luck wishes to you too. Hopefully it was just a little bit of spotting and everything is alright.
sunflower That's great that you think you o'd, hopefully you did and you're on to the 2ww.
UTchick That's good news on the CD3 b/w. Did you watch the blowout yesterday? Rosebowl, here we come :)
I think I o'd yesterday, so hopefully I'm in the 2ww too. I don't hold out a whole lot of hope when we're not on a medicated cycle, but I guess you never know. We've just passed the 4 year mark of ttc and I'm feeling pretty discouraged right now. DH and I are having the big talk about what we're going to do going forward. I think starting next month we're going to do a few more IUI cycles and then call it quits, but we haven't come to a decision yet.
Hope everyone is having a good weekend!
DallasLady
12-04-2005, 06:35 PM
I know, I suck, I'm hardly ever around to post.
I had my second IUI Friday. I had two follicles on Wednesday, one at 19.5mm and one at 17.5mm. We triggered that night which I thought was early, but I was trusting the doctor. I went in for a sono on Saturday to confirm that I'd O'd, and I had, but only the 19.5 follie. I was bummed about that. If we'd waited one more day to trigger, I bet the other would have gone as well.
But thankfully DH's sperm count was normal for the second month in a row! He had 34 mil/mL! He has been eating better, exercising, and making sure not to go more tha a few days between ejaculations. So, if we don't get pg this cycle, I think we are going to hold off on the IUIs for awhile and go back to timed intercourse.
I also found out that my estrogen is low, which explains why my cycles were getting longer (until I got on clomid). I think the fact that I have been majorly stressed out at work and have gained weight has contributed to that.
julesp313
12-05-2005, 07:09 AM
Bsbylove - thanks for the thoughts!
Suzfuz - definitely thinking sticky thoughts over here! I'm doing well, thank you... :)
UTChick - things are good... I think!
Knoelani - I crack myself up, I think that's how I deal with stress! My DH says I shouldn't be so funny about serious things but hell, better to laugh than to cry!
DallasLady - glad to hear you had good news about your DH's sperm count. That always helps - and fingers crossed that the IUI is a successful one!
As for me... I stayed offline yesterday as I'm reading too much and freaking myself out. Yesterday's HPT was incredibly faint but there was no more red spotting, only a little brown when I wiped sometimes. Today, I temped at 98.5 and the Equate I just took (the one with the plus sign) is BLARINGLY positive - in fact, the test line is nearly as dark as the control line, which makes it the MOST positive one I've had so far! Of course, at 18DPO, it bloody well should be glowing in the dark! :D
Still going to see if I can get a quant. HcG but if not, I won't freak out - I'm staying positive and knowing that spotting does not mean doom and things are going just perfectly for this stage of the pg.
And now I have to go to a client 80 miles away that has no Internet access... oh, the humanity! ;)

Hi Ladies!
I'd like to join your little group!
DaniML
Me: Daniela - 29
DH: Ross - 36
TTC: 06/04
11/04: Cervical Ectopic (2 shots of methotrexate to terminate)
TTC again: 01/05
11/05: Dx: Borderline diabetis (weight related) & PCOS, Metformin (850 mg twice a day, but changing to 500 mg twice, and then later 3 times, a day because they are making me sick)
I was really relieved when my doc finally figured out what was wrong with me. I had been to several doc over the past 3 years or so and never got a clear answer. I switched to this doc after I got pregnant last year. We started TTC again in January of this year and when I still had not gotten pregnant by October I went back to my doc and finally got a diagnosis. Not that I'm glad to deal with this, just that now that I finally know what it is we can work on "fixing" it.
Congrats Jenny!

Hey... there's no talking about football in here! ;) Actually, I shouldn't admit this but I just had to look up where my team is playing their bowl game - and I went to Notre Dame! I should be a football junkie, right? Yeah, but I'm English so I think that counts against me sufficiently!
Babylove - congrats! My, my, this is turning out to be an excellent couple of weeks for this thread! :D
Dani - welcome! I hope your stay here is short and sweet - the ladies here are wonderful!
Suzfuz - Yay for cross hairs! Funnily enough, getting those suckers was the one part of TTC I had no problem with, which made it more frustrating that I couldn't turn that "like clockwork" Oing into a BFP!
Doorchick - I heard Clomid makes you cranky - sorry you had to deal with that... I hope your DH understands, though, that it's not him (well, not entirely him!). I hope you get good news from your appointment this weekend and the IUI goes ahead on schedule.
Wondrous - did your RE say what might be going on, if you're having normal test results but not getting pg? It's very frustrating for everything to be "normal" but not getting pg - that's what we went through, but not for as long as you guys have. Hoping you get some good answers soon...
Me - freezing my butt off! Who knew Vegas got so darn cold? 30 overnight... now that's just WRONG! And I'm waking up without the alarm at 5am without fail. And that's wrong too! But it's OK... that justifies me going to bed at 8pm then... ;)

CTs_punkin ~ This cycle I took Clomid on CD 2-6. My first u/s was on CD 9. Then I had one on CD12, CD15, CD17, CD 18. They told me I was in the process of O'ing on CD 18, so I didn't have to go back again. Good luck w/ Clomid!

Thanks for the warm welcome!
Congrats and H & H 9 months to all the ladies who got a BFP! That gives me hope!
I'm just hoping I O'd this month. Even if we didn't get pregnant, I just want to know that the Metformin is helping my body do what it's suppose to do. It's very frustrating when I used to have perfect 32 day cycles every stinking month for years. Then suddenly it all changed and I really don't quite understand how. The bad part is that for a long time I didn't even want a baby. I have a 9 year old and was just 110% sure I'd never want another one. Enter DH.... and now that I want another one I can't seem to get pregnant.

Congratulations Babylove! I hope you have a happy and healthy nine months.
Welcome Dani!
Thanks CTs_Punkin for becoming our new threadmistress.:)
I had my first RE appointment yesterday. The RE wants me to have an HSG next cycle. I'm a bit nervous about that.
Also, she gave me an exam and said my uterus is not retroverted. She doesn't know why that is on my records. DH was a bit embarrassed. He was in the room during the exam. He just buried his face in a book and tried to ignore what was going on.:o

Knoelani - college football is always a source of amusement in our family as I went to ND, FIL and BIL went to UCLA, and DH's uncle and cousin went to USC. Needless to say, there's a lot of bantering and heckling going on during games! I only watch ND when they play teams I like to talk smack about (USC and BYU, as I work with a ton of BYU grads).
Elenna - aren't men funny? When I took DH with me for a consult about getting an HSG done, I didn't realize it would involve a pelvic exam. Afterwards, DH said "If I'd known another man was going to be up to his elbows inside you, I'd have left the room!". I told him he better get used to that and a whole lot more if he plans on being part of this whole pregancy thing! ;)

Well, I started Clomid this morning... so far so good... (It was only a couple hours ago that I took it, so not expecting too much)
Called the DR and have a U/S scheduled for CD13 - next Thursday - to see if it worked. We shall see... keeping my fingers crossed.
I also have an RE appt for January 12th to discuss the HSG results (left tube possibly blocked) - so just have to sit and wait. I'm secretly hoping that this month will be "our" month and that I can cancel the RE visit :)
Need to have a chat w/ the Hubbie about BD this month. I usually don't tell him "when" i'm fertile, but I think this month I'm going to do the "lets plan this out" and hopefully we'll catch the egg (if there is one).

First off, congrats to jules and babylove on their BFPs.
An update on me...
I started my final cycle of IUIs about 12 days ago, took Gonal-F at 112.5 units once a day for 8 days. Triggered on Monday and had back to back IUIs on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings. To be perfectly honest, I am just thinking of this cycle as "something to do before we start IVF", as it will be my 6th IUI, 4th with Gonal F. Therefore I have zero confidence that it will work. I did have some decent follicles, 3 I think above 17 on the day of the trigger, but I don't really take much notice of any of that anymore. Afterall, the result has always been the same, regardless of the number of follies, my hormone levels, my DHs sperm count etc.
So, looking forward to 2006 - the year of IVF. Gosh I hope 2006 is better than 2005 was (for baby making). I just want to put 2005 well behind me. I'm done with it!

kemorr- Keeping my fingers crossed for you. DId you have bad stomach pain with the Gonal F? How big does your RE like the follicles to be before trigger? Mine won't trigger unless they are 19x19 and wants to see the uterine lining at 9mm.

I think that I should O either today or tomorrow. Naturally DH is out of town and won't be back until late tomorrow. I knew this was going to happen so I pretty much wrote this cycle off anyway. I am STILL waiting on SA results from my doctor. The lab said they should have them within 24 hours and then my doctor would notify me from there. DH went and did that SA a week ago MONDAY. Grrrr. I keep calling and calling the office and I'm getting nothing. So annoyed at this point.

Add me to the group of woman who never really thought they would end up here. However, now that I am I can’t express how delighted I am to have others in my shoes.
Initially I was one of the ladies I now avoid – you know, the ones who get pregnant right out of the gates. That ended in a m/c and now 6 months later we are still TTC. All in all we have been TTC for 7 months. I really thought it would happen by end of year but it seems that is not our fait. At this point I just feel really empty and overwhelmed at the thought of researching and learning about our next steps. Ideally I would like DH to get a Semen Analysis before the end of the year but I really don’t know how to start that process. I guess I need to see my OBGYN but ideally I would like to avoid taking time off work for yet another doctors appointment this year. That alone makes me want to wait until next year but then I dread the thought of putting it off.
Any advice on starting the process would be great.
Rebecca
Welcome to the newbies.
Congratulations to all the gals with BFPs!!!
As for me......... Still waiting for my MRI results. They were supposed to be faxed to my doctors yesterday. I guess I will have to wait until my appointment next week! Feeling a bit impatient!

Hi Ladies. Been reading up, trying to decide if I should join, because I am generally bad at getting on the computer and posting. However, or next steps (IUI maybe IVF) make me nervous and I have tons of questions and we haven't even started yet, so I figured I needed a place to be. Right now I am in a holding pattern waiting to see a new RE on 12/20 to discuss IUI options and maybe get us set up for the next cycle. I have not charted, temped or anything for a few months due to general discoragement, but I am actually at CD 34 right now when I am almost always a CD28 girl. I don't think its possible at all, but hate that I have this wonder in the back of my head. Anyway, glad to be hear and I thank you in advance for the support.

Whoa! I have missed a lot. First of all, congrats on all the BFPs!! :D Welcome to the new members. :)
Also, thanks for all the well wishes on my bloodwork. I should hear something next week. Monday night I kind of had...not really a breakdown...I don't know what to call it. I was thinking about not starting Clomid until the next cycle (January) just to give myself a break. Part of me is scared it won't work and how would I deal with that? Then, part of me is scared it will work. For the first time in a long time, I was scared of getting pg. I felt really anxious about the permanancy of having a child. Like it is something we have been trying for and wanting for so long and what will happen when it actually happens? It was really strange. So when I went in on Tuesday morning for bloodwork, I told them that I may want to put off Clomid for a month and just take a breather. My doctor and nurse both said they understood and that I still have time to think about it before my next cycle starts. Of course DH doesn't want to wait, but he also doesn't want to force me if I am not ready. It is really strange...scared of not getting pg and scared of getting pg at the same time. Has anyone else felt this way or am I just losing my mind?

I've definitely felt that way. Those fleeting thoughts of...am I really ready for this? It would be so much easier if you just...whoops! wound up pregnant. But I don't think any 'whoops' babies are in my future. :(
I finally got DH's SA results. I don't have exact figures but we're being sent the results. It sounds like from what the nurse said that there's a problem with the morphology but not the motility. I'm not exactly sure but she recommended that DH go see a urologist. I'm tearing up right now writing this just like I was tearing up when she told me. It's so hard trying to hold it together at work. I wish there was someone here that I could confide in but I'm just not that close to any of my work friends. I asked her about going on the clomid at the start of my next cycle, but she recommended that I wait until we talk to the urologist. I feel so...defeated. I thought surely the problem was me and would be easily fixed by clomid. I'm dreading going home and telling DH. I just know what a blow this will be for him and I'm not looking forward to that conversation. Why does this have to be so hard???
Sorry to be such a downer...I'm just having a rough day. Don't worry about updating my stats until I have the actual results.

katmg I am so sorry to hear about your SA results. I remember when we got ours how defeated I felt and that I had hoped it was something with me all along. I hope your conversation with DH goes OK. Here's a <<hug>>.
Well, CD1 for me, but I'm not counting this month. I won't see the RE to set up IUI and meds until the 20th so this month is out anyway. I stupidly bought a test this afternoon as AF was 6 days late, and then this evening right in the middle of my 8 year old foster son's temper tantrum about dinner, there was AF. Oh, what a great evening. I think I am off to bed and my heated blanket. Have a good day everyone!

katmg... I'm so sorry to hear about the results. It must be so difficult for you to have to be the one to tell him. Hope the conversation went o.k.
polkadot... Don't you just hate this waiting! When you know the cycle is a bust you just want to get it over with and start over! Hope AF shows soon.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sometimes, if I feel like the cycle is a bust I don't even want to have sex with DH, like it's a wasted effort. You know, why have sex if I won't get pregnant anyway. I think this is stems from timed BD. I think I just need to take a month off. Trying to get prenant is taking all the fun and intimacy out of sex and I don't want that!

Ali, the Gonal-F doesn't really hurt. I think in the four cycles I have used it (a total of 36 injections of Gonal-F), there have been 3 or 4 times when it has really stung when I injected it. I think those times are related to me accidently hitting a blood vessel, as they are also the only times that I have bruised from the shots. Of course it happened twice this last cycle and now I have 2 huge bruises on my belly, just in time for my trip to Hawaii for Christmas! Oh well....
As far as when my RE triggers, I think there is a lot of variation between REs. I think I had 1 at 20 this cycle, but as I said, I don't really listen to the follie sizes anymore, after a few cycles you get jaded with the numbers. I've learnt that no matter how good or bad my follies are, how good or bad my lining is, how high or low my progesterone is - for me it hasn't altered the outcome. But, I think my RE will trigger at 17 with a lining at 8. The fiollies do continue to grow in size after the trigger shot. My RE places more importance on my estrogen level in relation to the size of the follies, vs the size of the follies alone.

katmg~ When we first had dh SA done by my regular dr, she told me that the results were bad, that dh needed to see a urologist right away and that there was nothing more she could do for us based upon his results and refered us to a clinic. Both the urologist and the RE at the clinic disagreed with that. Now his results aren't always the greatest, but they're usually good enough for us to actually be able to go forward with IUI's and have the potential of concieving. So I guess what I'm trying to say is that as bad as this seems right now, it may not be the end result. Have dh go to the urologist and see what they have to say before you get too discouraged, the dr may be wrong in their analysis. I hope this turns out ok for you guys, I hope it wasn't too difficult to share the news with your dh, and I hope you're feeling better.

Thanks, Kathy, Thea, Dani, Knoelani, and thedoorchick for all your kind words. I had a good cry on the way home from work and was feeling much better by the time I got home. DH took the news remarkably well and called and made an appt. for Monday with the recommended urologist. We also found out that his insurance will pay for all diagnosis and treatment! Yay for that! I'm sure that we'll have more answers Monday night of where we go from here and what his actual counts were. I appreciate all your support.
Knoelani - I'll be interested to see what the urologist thinks of his results. That's so strange that your regular doctor wouldn't think she could do anything for you but the specialists didn't. Guess that's why they're specialists, eh?
thedoorchick - I really want to get DH's actual numbers because right now I'm just guessing based off of her talking about the results kind of abstractly. I'm glad to know that the morph being bad doesn't automatically have us move straight to IVF. Hope things go well for you at the RE!

ok ladies ...well i had an appt with my dr today for an eye infection and i brought my charts with me and she took a look and she says that my charts are beautiful, and i am ovulating which i was pretty sure of, she wants us to give it 3 more months and see what happens...so...its not what i wanted to hear b/c i really wanted to start bloodwork but...she said the 1st thing we would do was check DH, meaning SA....ok so my question is....DH and I have to different insurances....who pays for what? I am really feeling low this morning. This is my first cycle on clomid, 50 mg. It is CD 23, I have not ovulated and I don't that I'm going to. I think that it's going to be another long cycle. :( I was so excited to try clomid, have felt so hopeful this cycle, and I have naively thought that I would have a bfp by Christmas. I know that this probably all sounds stupid... When we started to TTC earlier this year, I did not think it would take this long. I really thought that we would be pregnant by the end of this year.
I know that I need to be realistic - this cycle isn't over yet, and even if I don't o on this cycle, there are higher dosages of clomid and hopefully that will work. And if I do o, I shouldn't except to get pregnant our first try with clomid.
This is just hard, and I'm just so sad this morning. :( Thanks for listening.

Polkadot - have your DH check his insurance to see if it covers SA. If it does, your dr should be able to give him a lab slip for a lab that is covered by his insurance or DH may have to go to his dr and get a lab slip written by him (not sure how your insurance works). If it doesn't, your DH can go to whatever lab your dr uses. My DH's insurance didn't cover it so he just went to the lab attached to my dr's office. Hope that makes sense!
Suzfuz - sorry to hear that you're having a rough time. A friend of mine is going through a similar thing with her first round of Clomid - waiting to O and so far, it hasn't happened. I'm guessing for some women, 50mg just isn't enough to ripen the egg sufficiently to make it pop out... I don't know much about Clomid, but I'm sending hugs and good thoughts your way... :)

wonderous - I know exactly how you feel. I was really convinced that one cycle of CLomid would be all I needed. It was very disturburing to get a BFN after that cycle. That was a few months ago and I'm still not preggo. I kept telling myself that I just needed a little something extra to get me preggo. Now, I've got to admit to myself that it might take more than a little effort and that can be hard to do. I hope you feel better about it all soon.

It feels like this month was particularly stressful for TTC. I feel so much pressure if I can't figure out what my CM is or if we miss a night of BD. It's ridiculous. DH and I both had a bit of a breakdown the other evening. It was good to talk and find out what he was feeling. Ok...I have a funny and very embarassing story. I have taken the month off from temping and doing OPKs because I just needed a break from it. I am on CD 26 today and last night I was wondering if I had O'ed yet. So I set my alarm on my cellphone so that I could temp at my usual temping time (5:30am). I was so out of it this morning when my alarm went off that I was punching buttons on my cellphone and trying to take my temp with it! And the sad part is that I couldn't figure out how to use my "thermometer" and DH had to call my attention to it! He was just laughing and asking me what the heck I was doing. I was obviously not quite awake. Needless to say, I didn't take my temp since I couldn't figure it out!

I got a call today from my doctor's office. My b/w confirmed that I am not Oing consistently. So, I just have to call them on CD1 and I'll go in to get the Clomid rx and get info on when I am taking it, etc. DH finally set his appt. for his SA on Wednesday because I called to tell him that we are now waiting on him before we can start the Clomid. So I guess I can update my info:
Known issues: irregular ovulation
HSG normal
Starting Clomid 12/05

AF showed up this morning and I am not taking it well AT ALL.
That being said, can I ask everyone's opinion on the following:
DS is 22 months old. I just finished my 7th TTC #2 cycle, 1st cycle on Clomid. My ObGyn perscribed the Clomid at my last annual exam after he took a look at my charts. He was concerned about my long, irregular cycles and said that I am ovulating too late (anywhere from CD 20 to CD 35) for the fertilized egg to have a chance to implant (with which I disagree as my son was conceived on CD 41). He did not offer any sort of monitoring or recommend any other testing. He simply told me to fax my chart to him at the end of each cycle. I have an infertility consult set up with him for mid-Feb., at which time I assume we will get on with the testing.
I guess I want to address potential problems sooner rather than later, so I have independently set up an appointment with an RE for the 1st week in Jan. They have said they will do all of the testing upfront and then we will meet with the RE to go over the results.
Am I being overly aggressive here? Should I just wait until Feb. and meet with the ObGyn? He's a really great guy, but I guess I am a little concerned that:
1) he would prescribe Clomid without any other thought, and
2) he is so easily diagnosing my late ovulation as the problem.
Any thoughts on this matter would be greatly appreciated!

Polkadot, I think he meant that by day 30 or so the lining is getting ready to shed and is not great quality. I guess I need to do more research on this. However, I know that there are tons of pregnancy charts on fertilityfriend.com where a late O has resulted in a viable prenancy. And my own son was conceived on something like day 41, so it is possible.

Well, DH went to the urologist this afternoon. He didn't have a whole lot of good news for us. At this point he said that he wants to do more tests ($$$) to find out why DH's sperm count is low/morph bad. (doing another SA tomorrow morning, and an ultrasound on Friday plus the drew 5 vials of blood today) Won't be able to get back in with the doctor until Jan 12th. Also said that I shouldn't bother taking the clomid at this point b/c it's pretty unlikely that would help us right now.
DH's count was at 5 mil and the doctor wants to see it at 50 mil. DH's morph was about 50% normal 50% abnormal (not exactly but almost) The doctor said we're looking at around 6 to 9 more months until we "achieve" pg. I don't really know at this point if we're looking at going straight to some sort of ART or if there will be drugs first or what. Kinda in a holding pattern until we meet back with him in January.
Here's the doctor's website - seems to have a lot of info. http://www.male-infertility.md/index.shtml
Please change my stats to include:
Known issues: Male factor/low sperm count/morphology

jjsanner - I think MDs worry about late ovulation both because the lining starts to break down and because the egg starts to get "old" the longer it takes to mature in the follicle. Obviously a pregnancy isn't impossible with late ovulation (hence your son) but it decreases your chances.
That being said, I think OB-Gyns are way too quick in prescribing Clomid to any and all who can't get pregnant. I had a similar feeling, my OB wanted me to try 3 cycles of Clomid and then refer me to an RE. She did some CD3 and 7 DPO blood work but that was all. I wasn't comfortable with this plan, so sent myself off to an RE (also after 7 months of TTC) and am glad I did, because I am still not pregnant and I could be 3 months behind if I stuck with her plan.
If I were you, I'd go to an RE, but then you're trying for #2, so at least you know you can get and stay pregnant and you may not want to be as aggressive.
Edited to add that she told me to "just relax!" And "people who finally quit trying and get on the adoption list get pregnant all the time." She also told me that she didn't have any concern about my ability to get pregnant (hah! How wrong she was!). These three comments made me very uncomfortable about her attitude to infertility.

kemorr- yes i can see why you asked for a second opinion...and good for you that you have a plan...
we havent been trying for a year yet only 8 months so doc wants us to give it 3 more months and then she said she'd send DH for a SA.....i really wish it was sooner...but she saw my charts and is positive that i am oing which i am in agreement with so i guess i just have to wait it out for the next 3 months....
anybody have any info on the Sperm meets egg plan....i heard about it somewhere around here...thanks in advance....:D

katmg I am coming out of lurkdom to respond for you, since we have exactly the same issue and I know how rough it can be. Somehow we always expect that the fertility issue will be with us?
The good news is that many times male factor issues can be fixed. In our case (hey, DH's counts were even lower), they did run all the tests and found that DH had what was thought to be 3 varicoceles. His SCSA scores were really bad though. The RU (reproductive urologist) recommended varicocele repair surgery. My RE scared me into IVF/ICSI (he led me to believe my FSH was high, and it wasn't.) We did do IVF, and I overstimulated (OHSS)- so obviously I have plenty of eggs. ICSI worked wonders though, and everything fertilized, but due to the DFI, I only had chemical pregnancies.
So, we had the repair surgery in August, and already DH's counts are up 5 times, to the normal range. We don't know about the SCSA yet, but have hope.
I will not lie, it's been a rough road. I've had a hard time with all of it. At times I started disassociating myself, but the reality is, fertility is a team effort and it doesn't matter who has the "problem", it affects both of you.
Hope some of this helps! I don't have a happy ending yet, but I feel at least we are getting somewhere.

la - thanks so much - it's terrible that someone else has to go through this, but at the same time I'm glad I'm not alone. I was surfing last night trying to find out about male issues. I found a statistic that anything at 5 mil (DH's count) and under is considered infertile. :( Here I thought that needed to be improved but wasn't terrible. I don't think everything has hit me quite yet. I just have to keep thinking that there is a baby for us at the end of this road somewhere.
Oh, I'm not familiar with all the acronyms quite yet...what is SCSA? (Sperm count sperm analysis?)

Thea, Polkadot, and jjsanner {{HUGS}} Sorry Af found you!
Kat I am sorry to hear about your dh's sa. My dh had a moderate count and motility. Not horrible but enough to cause problems. He also has varicoceles. I know it can be discouraging. I hope they are able to come up with a plan for you. HUGS!
suz Don't lose hope yet. I didnt O until cd28 on 50mg. It could still happen. 100mg did the trick for me. I have o'ed cd21 and 22 on 100. Good luck!
UT I hope chlomid does the trick for you!
I got a positive OPK Sunday. We went in for our first IUi yesterday and had a temp jump today. Looks like I o'ed and everything was timed well. DH has varicoceles as I mentioned above and a cyst/blockage on the other side. He had a count of 30+mil and 30% motility at our 1st sa. This time his motility was up to 70%. We are very excited about that improvement. Hoping and praying the IUI worked. So I am 1dpo testing 12dpo christmas eve.

katmg... So sorry to hear about the results. I know it's very discouraging. With all the things they can do in medicine today they will find out what's wrong and how to fix it. It's good that he seems to have a doc that knows what he's doing. (((((Hugs)))))
kemorr... I agree about the prescribing Clomid too quickly. I think they should take the time to figure out WHY it's not working right. My doc said we'll add Clomid if nothing else helps, but he wants to 'fix' my other problems first.
I think to tell someone in this situation to "just relax" is one of the most redicules things I've heard. If it was that easy we'd do it. I'm glad you took matters into your own hand.
la_bride_2004... that's great that the surgery has already helped so much!

Well, I'm on CD31 today and have no signs of anything. No pregnancy and no PMS. This means that AF is at least another week or so out, probably 2. I usually get PMS signs about 1 1/2 weeks in advance. If nothing else, I just hope she decides to show before Christmas. With my luck she'll show right at Christmas and I'll have to deal with major cramping and the such.

:D WE HAVE A PLAN!! WE HAVE A PLAN!!! :D
I met with my RE today to discuss the "next step". While my DH's sperm count was good, the volume of semen was really low. He was very concerned that this could be our problem. All of my tests are perfectly normal. He even looked at pictures from my laparoscopy & said I had beautiful ovaries! *blush* That being said we will be getting the LH tracking kit & next month on CD 11, I will start testing. When (if) we get a surge, we go in the next day for IUI! :D I am so excited & ready for this to happen! :) If I don't ovulate or the IUI doesn't work, we'll try again. One day at a time...

julesp313 (((((HUGS))))) I am really sorry that you have to be back here with us :(
I am 12dpo from my 2nd IUI. I tested on 9dpo, BFN, and I am not going to test again. I am pretty certain this one was a bust as well. My lining was good, but I only had one follicle. DH's count was also good (50 million in the IUI sample). We discovered that my estrogen is a little low, which is why I ovulate late when I'm not on clomid.
I am really getting tired of TTC. I just want my life back. Everything has been centered on this, and now that we are going to an RE (and paying 100%) all our finances are devoted to it as well. I am so ready to just quit and move on. DH doesn't want to give up, he is still holding out hope. I think I have given up, which I know I shouldn't but I just don't see it ever happening for us.
We are not going back to the RE after this cycle. DH's sees it as us "taking a break" from it, I am ready to just forget it. His count has been getting consistently better, which means getting pg on our own is not out of the question. If it happens, it happens, but I am no longer holding my breath.
I just needed to get that out. Sorry if I am a downer :(

Thank you, everyone, for keeping me in your thoughts. I copied this from my LJ:
Yesterday was rough, obviously. I was bleeding heavily and cramping but not really any worse than a heavy AF. I had a good hard cry first thing in the morning with David and then I was OK, surprisingly. Went for a quantatative HCG draw in the morning and then spent the day hanging out at home with my dad. This morning, I went and saw my dr, who I love - he's so great at this sort of thing. The HCG confirmed I am/was pregnant but it was only 271, meaning my levels are dropping rapidly which is good only because that means this is a natural miscarriage and therefore I probably won't need a D&C, which is good. My progesterone levels were way too low, though - 1.9 and they should have been well over 20. So this was a progesterone problem, which explains why I was spotting the entire time. It is possible that if I'd gone in early and got an HCG, they would have been able to give me Prometrium but there's no guarantee that would have prevented the M/C so I'm not going to dwell on that "what if". Dr did a pelvic and confirmed that it wasn't a tubal pregnancy, which is good, and that things look normal. I'm going back in a week to have another exam and an ultrasound to confirm that I'm passing what I need to pass. We can TTC again after I have a normal period, which the dr said will probably be 4-6 weeks (for TTC, not for my period). Next time I get a BFP, I'm to call immediately for an HCG draw and to make an appt to see my dr the day after that - he'll put me on Prometrium if my progesterone levels indicate a need. He said that some dr's won't be proactive til after three M/C but that in his opinion, one M/C is too many so he wants me in immediately. I like that - I like the attitude that we're all working together to make sure the next pregnancy is a good one.
I'm honestly doing OK - not as happy as if I were still pg, of course, but I'm not devastated. I'm really just taking this as one of those things that happens more often than we would like to believe, and I know having a proactive dr and a proactive attitude going forward is going to be really good. I'm definitely coming back here to be an active member as even though we know we can get pg on our own, I'm still "SAI" and I obviously don't know how long it's going to take to get pg again. And this group is so helpful and supportive, I feel like I belong here more than any of the other TTC threads.

Jules: I'm sorry this happened. You have a very good attitude about it.
I just talked to a nurse at our RE's office. She gave me the numbers for DH's S/A. They're mostly good. I'm not sure how to classify his S/A results until we can talk to the RE. The RE is on vacation and we won't be able to talk to her about the S/A results until after X-mas.
Count: 194 mil -- good. The nurse said they look for at least 40mil
Motility: 24% -- not so good. I think the nurse said they look for over 40%. But the nurse said his total concentration was 262mil when they normally just look for 20mil for this. The high concentration with that percentage means there are still a lot of mobiles. The RE will have to ellaborate on this for us.
Morphology: 9% normal -- not so good. The nurse said they look for 14%. She said 9% is what they call "Abnormal with a good prognosis". Again, the RE will have to talk to explain this more to us.
I can't wait to talk to the RE to see what she thinks of the results. I'm feeling good about them.
Threadmistress: Can you update me to say our S/A results are abnormal 9% morphology and low (24%) motility. Thanks.

I'm doing well... I'm at work and it's frantic so that's keeping me busy. I'm feeling OK physically - I haven't had any cramping since the first day and now it's just like a heavy AF so that's bearable. Emotionally I'm doing OK too - I think everyone's waiting for me to have a meltdown but I don't know that I'm going to comply! I'm upset, of course, but I don't think I was ever truly accepting of this pregnancy - it never felt real and with the spotting from day 1, I think I always thought it was going to end in miscarriage. So maybe I'm not so upset because I subconsciously felt this was coming? I don't know - I'm trying not to self-analyze!
I'm on vacation starting tomorrow for two weeks, so my time on the boards will probably be a lot less. But I wish good things for everyone and I hope the holidays aren't too hard - I know this time of year can be very difficult to those of us dealing with what we're all dealing with.

We're about to leave to go to FL, but I just wanted to ask a few quick questions....
1. Today is CD 30 on a clomid cycle (50 mg). No O...at least as far as temps tell. I have not been to an RE so I haven't had monitoring. Could I have ovulated and it not be reflected in the temps? Is there any hope that at CD30 if I haven't ovulated with these drugs that I still could?
2. I have this intense fear that clomid is not going to work at all...even at 100 or 150. My body is so totally screwed. Anyway, what is usually the next step if clomid fails?
I'm planning on calling my doctor once we get back from FL to see about getting a referral to an RE. She's a wonderful doctor, is really proactive, and knowledgable, but if clomid isn't going to do it then I don't think she'll be able to help any further.
Thanks for your help! Enjoy the weekend everyone!

Suz -
My very first Clomid cycle my temps were completely wacked out. Before Clomid, I was ALWAYS under 98 pre-O and ALWAYS over 98 post O. Without fail. Anyway, Clomid increases your temps dramatically and my entire chart was greater than 98 for the whole month. The only way that I knew that I had ovulated was because I was using the OvaCue fertility monitor, which is a machine that (1) tells you when you're going to ovulate with an oral sensor and (2) confirms that you have ovulated with a vaginal sensor. The machine confirmed that i ovulated but there was no way that I would have been able to determine that from my temps alone. In fact, my pre-O temps were higher than my first 5 post-O temps. This is why I stopped temping on Clomid - it was a waste of time for me. Anyhow, I just wanted to let you know that there is a chance that you have ovulated and that you couldn't determine it from your temps alone, IF your temps have been unusually high whilst on Clomid. If you're not going to go to an RE for monitoring, you might want to look into an OvaCue monitor to help you know what is going on. http://www.zetek.net/ It has always been 100% accurate for me. I don't use mine anymore because I'm moving onto IVF, but I'm not sure if I want to sell it just yet (they are expensive)...
Update on me, I took a HPT today, 10 days post my final IUI on injectibiles. BFN, of course. My DH was mad at me for testing so early, but I kinda knew what the result was going to be. I suffered from mild OHSS at the beginning of this 2 WW and my RE said that it would get worse if I was pregnant. Of course I feel 100% better and my bbs which were so sore I couldn't touch them last week are almost back to normal. Sigh, it is onto IVF for us...

I just had my whole post all written out and lost it!!!
Anyway, I am back from Florida. DH and I had a great time! It was nice to just be together and not be thinking about TTC 24 hours a day!
The Friday we left for vacation, I had to go in to the doc because I was still bleeding from my m/c 10 days earlier. He aspirated some of the tissue in my uterus and sent it to the lab to see if there was placental tissue which would help rule out the possibility of an ectopic pregnancy. There was and, as I found out when I returned, my HCG levels had finally dropped. The procedure hurt like hell. I was totally crying and squeezing DH's hand fo hard, I left little welt marks. Ugh - never want to go through that again. It was just awful. Luckily, I only cramped for about a day and the rest of my vacation was pain free - aside from one migraine and some hellish blisters from all the walking!
I went back to my RE on Wednesday and he decided to put me on Metformin to see if that helps things at all. Anyone have luck with that??
My usual RE retired about 6 weeks ago. My new Doctor, Dr. N, is really nice, but I just feel weird around him. I can't explain it. It just feels that even though he trys to explain everything more than my former doctor, he might as well be speaking a foreign language because I can't follow anything he says. I don't get it. I just don't feel comfortable around him, but I can't even give a good reason why.

Suz Sorry you haven't o'd yet. But many women don't respond to 50mg and have to up their dose and it goes on to work for them. Hang in there!
Kemorr Crossing all things for you - hoping you just tested too early - Sending you BFP vibes
Lucy Sorry you had to go through all that. Glad you were able to still enjoy your vacation. Weird about your new RE... hopefully you get more comfortable w/ him.

I was wondering for those of you who have/are on clomid - when did you O after your DR said that you had a good follicle on CD 12 / 13? I haven't had a + OPK yet and I have a Drs appt on Wed (CD19) for a blood draw to confim O.... Just curious.
Thanks!

I'm on vacation! Yay! Am at home but it's nice to not have to go to the office or client sites. My dad's visiting from England so he and I are hanging out and doing stuff. Yesterday we managed to finally frame and hang a bunch of DH's movie posters so the house is starting to look lived in. We also bought a new sofa and love seat that will be delivered on Friday - our existing ones were third hand and are sagging more than my flabby ass so they need to go. We'll put the love seat in our bedroom and ditch the sofa.
M/C - still bleeding but it's tapering off. I'm hopeful that it will take care of itself and my appt on Thursday won't show a need for any intervention. Then we just wait for AF and then we get to start TTC again. I'm actually JOYFUL - can you believe it? Because even though this wasn't the happy ending we had hoped for, knowing that we CAN get pregnant is a huge thing and I'm just hoping beyond hope that this time it'll happen a little sooner than 11 months and we can have the ending we so, so wish for. :)

Hi ladies. Hope you don't mind me joining. I've been lurking for a while, but after my last wacky cycle, I think this might be a good place for me to be.
My stats:
ME: 29
DH: 29
Married since: 6/03
Off BCP since: 2/05
Charting since: 2/05
TTC since: 7/05
Known issues: PCOS diagnosed 9/05, HSG clear 10/05, SA normal 11/05
Treatment: 11/05: 50 mg Clomid = 1 good follie, late O ~CD20, short LP
While we only really started trying in July, in August I started testing for problems because I had six weeks of continuous bleeding. That led my doc to a diagnosis of PCOS, so we then went through the other required tests before I could get my hands on a Clomid script.
Last cycle I took Clomid from CD3-7, and then I think I O'd late around CD20. I couldn't tell exactly because my temps didn't go up right away, but a blood test on CD25 showed progesterone levels of 4.8, and another on CD28 showed levels of 9.1. However, that was just 3 days ago and AF arrived today. I have no idea what's going on, so I emailed my RE this morning to ask him to help me interpret things and recommend a course of action. When I first met him 2 weeks ago he said I could try Clomid alone for a few months if I want, or I could go right to IUI. Right now I'm leaning towards that, just to increase our chances. This roller coaster TTC ride is not a lot of fun so far and I've discovered that the emotions are tough to handle sometimes (as I'm sure you're all very aware!). So if we can use the technology out there to help us get pregnant faster ... well, I'm open to that!
TIA for letting me join your family. I hope this holiday season brings us all the presents we want the most and that our new years are filled with BFPs!

Lucy ... I'm on Metformin, but this is only my first month on it. My doc did say that it was NOT a quick fix. I'm on Met for borderline diabetis & PCOS. When I asked him for a time line he expected about 6 months for my cycle to normalize and me to start ovulating on a regular basis again. Good luck with it. Just don't be disapointed if it doesn't do what you think it should in the 1st month. Also, I think if you're that uncomfortable with your new RE you might want to find a different one. I think RE/GYN is such an important doc that you need to be totally comfortalbe with him/her.
gymwidow... Welcome and hope your stay is a short one. The ladies here are all incredebly helpful and a wonderful support system!!!
Thread Mistress... I just noticed that I didn't add my married date. Ooops, can you add it please?

SIX MONTHS for results??? Oh jeez! Dr. N did say that I can take the Femara again when I get my next period...and if it's longer than 2 months, I can take the provera route if I want.

Lucy... I'm not sure what your dx is. Like I said before, I have PCOS with border line diabetis. Because of that I don't ovulate on a regular basis. The Metformin is suppose to regulate my blood sugar, which in turn is suppose to help regulate my cycles and help me ovulate. But, for all that to take effect my doc said it can take up to 6 months. He did say that if that doesn't work we'll add Clomid, but he has seen great results with Metformin alone.
Good luck!!

Nothing doing here. CD2, heavier AF today, but no cramps so far which is nice. I have my CD3 bloodwork scheduled for tomorrow. I finally read through the materials the RE's office gave me last night and discovered that they do give an HCG injection shot to trigger O with their Clomid patients, which makes me VERY happy. I was worried I'd have another really late O this month. I wish I had seen the RE early enough last cycle to get in in time for that! Anyway, my timeline should be: CD3 bloodwork tomorrow, CD12 u/s next Friday the 30th, my trigger shot I'm guessing around Jan. 3 or so, and then hopefully O that week! Now I just need to talk to the doc about getting progesterone supplements for the 2WW. If my progesterone level was 9.1 on Friday and I got AF yesterday, well, something seems wrong there.
Dani, thanks, I've definitely seen the support and knowledge you guys share during my lurking days and I'm glad to be a part of the group now. Well, not "glad", but you know what I mean! ;)

Gymwidow - welcome! I hope you'll find knowledge and support here - I think this collective group has more knowledge than a lot of the dr's out there!
Me - the bleeding has turned to brown spotting and my temps are dropping, which I'm taking as a good sign that this M/C is nearly finished and my body will start getting itself back on track. The dr said there's no reason to think that my cycles won't be completely back to normal after the M/C cycle, so I'm hoping he's entirely accurate with that information! I go back on Thursday for a follow-up and I'm hoping he'll say everything looks good.

Welcome Gymwidow!
Jules Glad to hear it's almost over. Hoping that sticky BFP is right around the corner!!
As for me - still no O... I haven't done an OPK yet today - will probably after I get back from the airport. I haven't gotten a pos opk yet - but have a Drs appt for blood work tomorrow morning.
Question If you were on Clomid - what was the latest you O'd? Today is CD18 for me. I took it on CD 5-9
Thanks for your comments, it always helps!

Sorry I haven't been around much. DH and I have both been sick with sinus infections and then bronchitis. It's been super-fun around our house for the past week. I'm waiting to get my period - should be here around Christmas. Can't do anything for the next cycle since DH's urologist can't see us until the 12th to give us the analysis of his results.

Jules, CTs Punkin, & katmg, thanks for the welcomes!
Jules, it does amaze me how some doctors seem so set in their thinking and how "little" they seem to know about the differences in each woman's cycle! My GYN told me that every woman's LP is always, always, always 14 days long. Which is definitely not what I've heard about on here! I'm so sorry that you had to suffer through a m/c and I hope you and your DH have a sticky pg very soon!
CTs Punkin, last month was my first on Clomid and it was really hard to pinpoint an exact O date, since my temps didn't rise until well after a blood test showed that I had in fact O'd. I guesstimated that my O date was right around CD20. My doc told me that it's most commont for women on Clomid to O around CD15-17.
katmg, how frustrating to have to wait! We went through that this fall. It took us 4 weeks, 3 doctors, and 2 SAs before we finally got our results. An entire cycle wasted right there!

you know thats how i feel about every cycle...
It took us 4 weeks, 3 doctors, and 2 SAs before we finally got our results. An entire cycle wasted right there!
i dont understand doctors sometimes...i went to my new dr and she automatically suggested TCOYF and FF and charting so why oh why does she want us to try 3 more months ( we have been trying 8 months so far) it clearly says in the book she reccomended that if after 4-6 months of optimally timed BD and charting etc...you should be checked.,....well hello..we have been doing that....
and you know i have heard many different people that doctors have said many weird things....such as....** just relax it will happen, stop trying it will happen, women always O on such and such day, or the best LP is always 14 days*** uhmmm no, not so much...
i really need to stop stressing but all of this is pissing me off...ok off my soapbox....
on to lurk...;)

Well, BFN for me, 13 days post IUI. And, spot showed up last night, which is the one thing that I had thought we had managed to resolve, with the surgery and all the hormone therapy, but apparently not. We're moving onto IVF in 2006, so I probably won't be posting much here anymore, I'll mostly hang out in the IVF thread.
Goodluck everyone.

Good morning ladies. CD3 here. I just had 3 vials of blood taken this morning and will find out the test results and hormone levels this afternoon. When the nurse calls she'll also let me know if the doc wants me to continue with 50mg of Clomid this month or move up to 100. Is it weird that I kind of hope they move me to 100? It seems like that would just increase our chances, but then who am I to know. They'll also schedule my u/s for the end of next week, either Friday or Saturday. Hopefully I'll be able to do the u/s and get my HCG shot at the same time. These $25 per visit copays (even for just bloodwork!) are starting to add up fast.
Last night I had the worst cramps of my entire life. I woke up at 2 am and was twisting and turning in agony. After about a half hour I gave up and went into our living room and got settled on the sofa with the cat, my heating pad, and a blanket. It took another hour before I was able to go back to bed. I ended up with only about 4 hours of sleep overall, so today I'm sure will feel terribly long. I already can't wait to go home and go to bed!
polkadot, it made me so angry to hear even a doctor tell me to just relax. And this guy is a great friend of the family! I'm so happy that my RE is completely 100% gung ho. He told me if I wanted to go right to IUI, he would be okay with it, but that if I want to try a couple of Clomid-only cycles first, that's fine, too. He said the only thing he would caution me against is moving straight to IVF without first trying other methods, which is fine by me. IVF will be a last option for us if everything else doesn't work first.
kemorr, good luck!
thedoorchick, thanks! I hope this IUI did it for you!

CT - I've never used Clomid so I'm no help, I'm afraid... but thank you for the kind thoughts.
Kat - sorry to hear you're both sick... isn't that the worst? Hope you feel better soon!
Gymwidow - don't doctors sometimes make you wonder what sort of med school they went to? Can you get drugs for the cramps? I'm thinking Valium might be nice... Failing that, it sounds like a combo of the heating pad and the feline heating pad might at least give you some relief!
Polkadot - relaxing is good but it's not going to make you pregnant, is it! That's always annoying to hear - um, sorry, but I have issues - I can relax til I melt and it's not going to help! Sheesh...
Kemorr - I'm so sorry to hear about the result. I really wish you all the luck in the world with IVF and please do pop in and let us know how you're doing.
Doorchick - thanks, I think I may be nearly normal again. ;) Hope you get a good result when you're ready to test...
Me - I'm doing really well. Stopped bleeding entirely and we actually had sex! I know, it shouldn't be a major event, but we hadn't been there since I got my BFP (all that paranoia) so needless to say we were both kinda relieved! Now I have to wait for AF - I have no clue how long it might take, but I figure I'll temp anyway, just to see what's going on, and I'm charting with the M/C being CD1 (I know it's not a valid CD1 and it's not a valid chart, but I'm curious to see how my body reacts and recovers). Tomorrow I go to the doc's and will ask him if he can note on my chart that next time I get a BFP, they're to have me come in for a quantatative HCG draw immediately. I don't want to have to fight the nurse on this one. I'll also see if the dr can provide any insight into the likelihood of me getting AF soon - I don't know if there's a usual length of time between a MC and AF, but we'll see.
Apart from that, I'm enjoying my time off work and just looking forward to the holidays with the family. :)

julesp... Glad to hear you're doing well! I just checked and after my m/c I had a 36 day cycle. Not to bad considering that since then I've had plenty of 39+ day cycles. Hope everything goes back to normal for you quickly.
kemorr... so sorry to hear about the BFN. Good luck to you!
gymwidow... Those co-payments do add up quickly!! Last year, during my m/c I had to keep going to the doc for betas (first to see if they were rising and it's a viable pregnancy, then to see if they were dropping after the methotraxate) and while I didn't have co-payments per se, my insurance only covered 80% of the labs. Hope this cycle is a good one for you!
polkadot... it's weird how some docs seem to be so histant to go to the next step! Hopefully your doc will come around and you can stop waiting around.
===============================================
Well, it's another 39 day cycle for me. AF showed today. This time my boobs didn't hurt before at all. I take this as a good sign. My boobs never got sore before AF up until about 3 years ago (when all my other problems started, more severe cramps and PMS, etc., etc.). So, maybe this means the Metformin is helping and my body is trying to go back to normal!!! Right now I just have cramps from h*ll and I'm super busy at work. All I want to do is curl up in a ball on the couch with some Pamprin or Midol and a heating pad!

Hello ladies. Welcome new members! I hope everyone is doing ok.
Jules - I am so sorry to hear about your loss. :( You sound like you are doing pretty good considering. I am glad. I hope everything works itself out and you get PG again soon!
I had my last HSG yesterday, and unfortunately my tubes were STILL Blocked, no change at all. So that leaves us to either IVF or adoption. I have an appt with my RE on Friday to discuss our IVF options. Last time I spoke to him he suggested I do IVIG with the IVF. I really want to talk to him about the chances of me really getting PG with our IVF plan. If he thinks there is a good chance we will do the 3 cycle plan that they offer. If I am still not PG after, we will adopt, but most likely have to save up some money first.
I just really want to be done with this. But I figure I can handle 3 months of IVF and then we will be done trying for good.
Does IVF hurt? The HSG was terrible for me, from the moment they put the catheter in until he took it out. IVF can't be any worse than that can it?

Well, everything has been decent with the metformin. I haven't had any of the side effects. I *thought* I was all done with my last m/c, but I started bleeding again on Tuesday!! I had stopped for about a week and then *boom*!! UGH! (Of course it happened at work, but luckily I was wearing dark colored jeans! ) I called my doctor and they said my hcg level was reading at over 100 last week and that the bleeding is a good sign. It means my levels are FINALLY going down. I go in today for MORE blood work. I feel like a pin cushion.
Kemorr and Tigerest - sorry to hear of your results. Best of luck with IVF!

sorry for coming out of lurkdom around here, but i wanted to answer tigerest's questions.
tigerest...i'm so sorry about the results of your HSG. as for your IVF pain questions, are you asking about the transfer? that really doesn't hurt more than just a normal pap smear. i had some cramping leftover from my retrieval (and the cramping pain of having tons of follicles in my ovaries) but the pain from those was nowhere near the pain from my HSG (and mine was not as bad as yours). as for the needles and everything...yeah, sometimes the shots hurt (mostly the intramuscular shots of progesterone at the end of the cycle) but again, not nearly as much as the HSG. good luck! and definitely stop in at the IVF thread...everyone there is amazing and so helpful.

Me: 33
DH: 34
Married: 10/03
TTC: 12/04 (with charting)
Issue: Anovulatory cycles or very weak ovulation, delayed ovulation
Treatment: Acupuncture and Chinese herbs
My doctor suggested taking Clomid, but I'm still undecided. I think I'll continue with my acupuncture treatments for now. I've been doing acupuncture for 2 months and I actually ovulated last month (large temperature shift unlike the previous cycles).
