I'll go first....
I knit a lot in the winter, when it's too cold to be outside. In the summer months I spend most of the time in my garden.

I mainly scrapbook.
I'm always looking for new crafts to get into. I also like to cook - a lot!

I have some totally random hobbies. I love paper crafts- I make paper flowers and cards and all sorts of stuff. I quill- paper filagree of sorts (entirely obscure I know, and I absolutely LOVE that it is). :p
I do a lot of entertaining and parties. I love cooking and am working on my sewing skills. My husband and I make soap together. I play the trombone.
Yeah, I guess that's pretty much it.

I like to sew. I am currently working on a quilt as a gift for a friend of mine.
I also have an orchid addiction that I inherited from my mother!

Oh my gosh - someone else who has not only heard of, but actually does quilling! I'm amazed! Like you, I love doing it because for most people, it's something they've never seen before...and it's so easy to make cards, etc. :)
In addition to quilling, I also do a lot of cross-stitching, and a little bit of quilting and knitting. I'm planning to learn how to sew, but I've been on a big stitching kick lately and haven't gotten started on that yet.

I love to knit. I used to be a diehard, but I still get the knitting bug every winter. I also like to quilt. Since my mom writes quilt books it kinda runs in the family.

I love to crochet & cross-stitch. I've just taken up scrap-booking, because I'm a nut and decided that's what I'm making for my parents 50th anniversary present.
I also have done several hundred different things from xmas glass ball wreaths, to painting ceramics, and painted ornaments, etc. I try new things all the time, although most get finished, I critique most of my things as NOT so great! LOL
I have NEVER been able to learn to knit. I don't know why, and my mother tried to teach me hundreds of times, as well as others, and I just can't do it. I'd love to be able too however, because of all the beautiful baby things I could make for people.
I love to be crafty, my DH just  everytime I take on something new, because I usually go wild and buy everything I need (thus the need for an entire room for crafting!).
I used to lurk in the threads on WC, now I feel like a new beginning, maybe I can add to some of the threads!
Happy crafting everyone!
Kristy

You mean I'm not entirely alone in the universe! How cool is that?!?! How long have you been quilling? I first started when I saw it in Martha Stewart many years ago, it was the Valentine's Day issue and I thought it was amazing and I had to try it. I got hooked pretty quickly.
What kinds of things do you make? I do a lot of notecards and little things, but I have one big project that I'm working on (and probably will be forever). I'm doing a chess board and if I ever finish it I think it will be pretty dang cool. I'm using black, white and silver papers... I need to get some pictures of it and see what you think.
KristyK~ you sound like me! I am always doing something new and adventurous. Tyler just rolls his eyes at me, but then ooh's and aaah's when I finish something. I have tried knitting a couple times, too, but never really caught on. Tyler knits, though, so he'll be responsible for all the beautiful baby things- when that time comes!

A chess board - wow! It would drive me crazy to make so many pieces the same. :) I have a pattern for one in one of my books, and DH would love it if I made it, but I just don't have the patience for that one.
Most of my stuff is little cards, magnets, etc., too. I made one of these for each of my 9th grade students (23 of them) as an end-of-the-year gift:
http://mmeblue.home.comcast.net/images/magnet.jpg
I used different colors for each one and picked a different verse for each kid - the one in the picture was the first one I did for myself, just to test it out.
Anyway, I like doing some bigger things, too; if you look at the link to my finished projects in my sig, scroll down past the stitching and there's a lot of quilled stuff. I'm probably most proud of the "Buzz" design, since I made up the quilling adaptation myself. :)

I love that Buzz design! You've done a whole bunch of fun stuff. I recognize many of the patterns from the Melinda Johnston book- the bible of quilling... I decided a few years ago to decorate my christmas tree in quilled snowflakes, so I've got dozens of them (I made up all the designs) in silver and gold. Each year I make more so that as I graduate into bigger, non-Charlie Brown trees, I'll have enough to fill it up.
About the chess board- I've been working on it for about a year now, and am about 1/3 done. I loved the board that's in the book, but when I tried one of the squares it just didn't look right in my colors, so I just made up my own pattern. Each square used to take me about an hour and a half, but I've streamlined my system now so I can turn on a movie and do 3 or 4 squares. I only need 64 squares so I figure 15 or 20 movies and I can finish it. Well, I'd still need to do a border and mount it etc.., but I'm getting there. I don't work on it very often, either. I need to get going on it so I can show you!

I like to knit, crochet, make jewelry, read, and write.
I just picked up knitting and I'm working on a sock now. I've been crocheting since I was about 6 and I have a shawl in the works at the moment.
When DH and I got married, we designed my wedding ring together, and that got us involved with jewelry design. For Christmas, DH gave me some amber beads and told me to make a necklace out of them for myself. :D I still have to get the findings together so that I can make it, but I have the design in mind now.
I'm much better at reading, but I've finally started writing in the past year. I wrote 50,000 words of my first novel this past November during National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo), and I think I'm finally ready to keep working on it (work has finally calmed down enough to give me time again). This coming November will herald another month of NaNoWriMo, and I'm excited to write either the next part of my book, or start a new one.

Orchids are the only thing that I cannot keep alive to save my life.
;)
The key to orchids; neglect them. Over watering will kill them faster than under watering. Even my DH has managed to keep one alive with this philosophy!

shopping & movies...both of which don't count...I don't think :p
I used to scrapbook but then got bored and most likely broke.
I also used to sell on Ebay but haven't had time lately.
As far as "crafty" projects....none right now...maybe once the winter rolls around! :)

I have 2 Miltonia (pansy orchid) in bloom right now. They are unusual because they have the most heavenly scent. Here's a picture:

I also have a Paphiopedilum (lady's slipper), a Cymbidium, a Ludisia (jewel orchid) and a funky Zygopetalum that I got from IKEA, of all places! :) I used to have a couple Phalaenopsis but I had to get rid of them when we moved overseas :(
I just love how long they stay in bloom.
What kinds do you have?

Peaches - Wow! Your miltonia are gorgeous! My friend grows miltonia. I have *lots* of vandas, 1 cymbidium, and a few phals. By and far though I focus on the vandaceous orchids....they like it down here in Florida. :)

Are you able to keep yours outdoors? I have a conservatory in which I keep most of mine. I would love one of those blue Vandas..I always thought those were the most beautiful orchids

Peaches - Yeppers, I keep mine outdoors basically year-round (unless there is a hurricane or it is getting cold - then they go in the garage). They love it down here with all of the hot humid weather! I don't know where you live, but I am assuming it's a more temperate/cook climate since you have yours in a conservatory. There are so many cool growing orchids that I would just love to have!

I am so proud to finally have hobbies! For the longest time, it seems like all I did was watch tv.
I love to knit (mostly scarves & dish cloths), sew (purses, window treatments, pillows, etc), read (nothing that requires a lot of thought) and making cards (Stampin' Up).
Things I wish I could love
gardening
cooking
working out
scrap booking
