I'm just curious - what eye colors do you and your DH/SO's have and what color does DC have?

I have hazel, DH has brown. DD is currently still blue, but I think they're going to change to hazel...they seem to be getting a little more grey in the past few days than blue...

I have blue, DH has brown. DD has a cross between hazel and green (depends on what she's wearing)

Me: Brown
DH: Brown
DS: Brown

I honestly wasn't expecting anything else but brown for DS. I did, for a very short while, hope for blue because my dad and MIL have blue eyes but... DS's eyes are very brown-- just like Daddy's.

I've read that it depends more on our parents eye colors. I also saw a site that could give you a percentage based on the parents and grandparents eye colors that was pretty cool.

me: green
DH: blue
DS: blue at 2 so probably staying that way

grandparents are:

(mine)
brown
brown
(his)
blue
brown

We all have blue eyes. The whole family does on both sides in fact. So we knew that our little one would have the same, however we all have different colors of blue.

DS: blue (started out grey-blue and lightened quickly)
DD: brown (started out grey with a tinge of olive green but turned brown)

Me: blue
my mom: aqua
my dad: hazel
my brother: hazel
paternal grandparents: grey and blue/hazel
maternal grandparents: brown and blue/aqua

ExH: brown
his mom: brown
his dad: brown
his brothers: brown
his maternal grandmother: blue
his other grandparents: brown

My current DH has brown eyes, and his entire maternal side has brown eyes. He never knew his biological father or that side of the family, so I have no idea if there are any non-brown eyes in his family tree.

ETA: He told me today that his maternal grandfather had blue eyes (he died before I met DH), and that lots of the relatives from that side of the family do as well, although I'd never met them because they all live in Mexico.

This is going to make guessing our baby's eye color very interesting. ;) But really, I'm expecting brown.

Me: Green (they were blue when I was little, though)
DH: Brown
DD: Blue, still, at two

If I do that online thing that "predicts" your child's eye color, they say Nora is impossible.  I think the genetics of eye color are actually pretty complicated.

DD1:bright blue
DD2: muddled olive/brown color

Random question- what is hazel? I alwauys was told it was green/brown, but then someone told me it's blue/green. What is it?

Carol, I thought it was like, if you have two brown genes, you'll have brown. One brown and one blue, you'll have green, and two blue, you'll have blue. Because two blue eyed people can only have blue eyed kids. Or am I totally making this up?

Me: green, but like Carol, mine were blue til I was about 7 or 8.
DH: dark brown
Helena: brown
Marisa: blue as blue can be

DH's mom and bio dad: brown
my mom: green
my dad: brown

The blue comes from my grandparents. My paternal g-ma has blue eyes and my maternal g-pa had blue eyes.

It depends. My father and brother both have hazel that's a true green mixed with olive green/brown--my dad is more on the green side than my brother. But I know some people who have hazel eyes that is more of a blue mixed with brown, so it can be both.

Me: brown (my parents and bro are also brown)
DH: blue/green depending on what's he's wearing (his family are all shades of blue and green).

DS: dark brown eyes at 8.5 mos. They started bluish, went grey, then very brown.

Carol:

Nora isn't impossible, it juest means that you and your DH has a recessive blue gene, that's all. You had about a 1/4 chance of blue if that is the case.

Blue and green, you'll have a blue or green baby. Again, blue is a recessive trait as is green. I do believe that blue is more dominant than green, and that green is really a blue and green set of genes (?), so I think your likely to get blue.

Me: DARK Brown
DH: Hazel (brown/green)
DS: so far hazel (green/blue/brown shades" but he's only 15 months so we'll see.

Both DH & I have hazel green
DD has very BLUE still at 9 months & the dr says they will stay that way. We shall see!
We def. carry the blue recessive gene since my mom & FIL both have blue eyes.

DD: Hazel, but they often look brown...they may end up brown whe she is older, I think. She is 12 months now.

Funny, because all of our siblings and grandparents have blue or green eyes, with the exception of my FIL, who has brown.

It'll be interesting to see what our kid has.

me: brown
dh: gray

my mom: blue
my dad: brown

dh mom: brown (not positive though)
dh dad: gray

I suppose there's an offchance they could be blue, but I'm guessing most likely brown or hazel.
