I do! LOL!!! :D I find that if I keep a to-do list and everyone see's it, it keeps me accountable and I am more apt to getting stuff done!

So, I was wondering if any of you would be interested in a daily or weekly WHYDT (What Have You Done Today?) or WHYDTW (What Have You Done This Week?)

I am up for either daily or weekly (yet I do prefer daily, but on't want to bore you guys with my to-do lists! ;) ). Anyone in?! You can also tell me this is a bad idea and move on! LOL

Yep, I'm in.

I'm actually in the middle of a 'strike', so to speak. My DH decided he wanted to have a surprise 60th b-day party for MIL (not my favorite person, but that's another thread) and when he asked me about it I said fine, but since I've scrubbed the house and done EVERYTHING every other time we've had people over, this time it's your turn. He agreed. Of course, it's Friday night, the house is a train wreck, and the party is early Sunday afternoon. Oh, and we have to go to a wedding tomorrow, did I mention that?

So we'll see what my state of mind is by Tuesday. I might be on a permanent strike ;). If not, though, this is a great idea!

How are we doing this "What Have You Done Today" thingy?

I haven't done SMACK today. It's a bad scene.

Let's see now...I took care of the baby and did some grocery shopping and bought baby some books and read to the baby and played with the baby and looked at a couch I considered buying...

And that's it!

As for this week, I sucked at this week as well.

OK BY NEXT WEEK...AND WE ARE TALKING WED., JULY 13TH I AM GOING TO HAVE THIS PROPOSAL FINISHED!!!!

WE ARE TALKING ONE WEEK!!! This stinking Politics proposal is going to be finished. My future is hanging by a thread!

I must finish this proposal or kiss my career goodbye.

OK, people, that's Wed., July 13th....kick me from here to the corner if I don't finish that proposal.

Over and out! :p

waiting to hear from all of you about what you've done today/this week...

I'm game! I also need motivation, to-do lists, and a kick in the arse to keep up the momentum. Being that I have only one weekend "off" between now and Labor Day (then my DD starts school), I'm cramming what I can into the few short weeks I have before her schedule takes over my life. :)

What I've done this week:
- Went through my wedding things (wedding was in May)
- Cleared out the guest room (my former dumping ground)
- Emptied all the drawers in the dresser in the guest room
- Bought paint and finished painting the walls, trim and furniture (all 7,341 coats of it)
- Bought paint tonight and started painting furniture trim
- Went through coupons, sent out last batch for the WC and kept ones for the CC train
- FINISH LAST BATCH OF THANK YOU NOTES (can we put this off ANY longer???)

What I have to do before Sunday night: (DD comes home from her month-long vacation with family)
- Finish trim on furniture, put on polyurathane
- Clean carpet in spare room and arrange furniture
- Balance checkbook (just printed out bank statement)
- Pay bills from last week and this week (YIKES!!)
- Call Cingular about cell phone bill
- Clean out fridge and freezer
- Make grocery list and do major grocery shopping
- Clean the house
- Give the dog a bath
- Finish laundry
- Wrap shower gift and buy card (shower is tomorrow night)

Next Week:
- Look for a new bed for DD's room, move hers into guest room
- Put up pictures and blinds
- Buy wedding gift (wedding Saturday)
- Clean out living room (new dumping ground)
- Go through crap in guest room closet, hang new rod

Long Term (between now and the year 2043) :
- Pick out paint colors hall and entryway and paint
- Pick out paint colors for our bedroom and paint
- Sand and restain our bedroom furniture
- Clean office (this will take FOREVER)
- Organize important papers and previous bill statements
- Go through kitchen so we can finally put our bridal shower gifts away (been sitting in living room since APRIL!!)

And for grins and giggles, my DH's to-do list consists of:
- Golfing
- Fishing
- Mowing the yard

Fax bank statements to mortgage guy

Kimberland, you are going to feel FABULOUS when the last thank you note is written! Then you can enjoy all of your fabu gifts guilt-free!

mmeblue, this is your nagger calling. ;) How are them floors, how are them lesson plans?

Miel- If you are reading this before 7/13, you shouldn't be! Go write! This will be here later.

I've just updated my whole summer to do list (in its briefest form) on page one of this thread, but I'll edit there as I get things done wth an occasional post here.

Something I've done this week that has helped me is to sit still for a moment and sort of work up the energy to accomplish whatever it is I'm going to try to do in the next hour. I give myself a little pep talk and tell myself how great I'll feel when I get X done, and focus on really gearingup the energy to do it. It's worked really well!

So... I am now going to exert huge will power and yank the wireless card out of my laptop... and focus on writing my Gadamer (recent but dead german philosopher) paper.

Good luck, everyone! Stay focused!

Thanks for the nagging! :)

Floors, not so good; lesson plans, I worked on for 1.5 hours, and now I have to go. I ended up having a long lunch with a friend that I hadn't talked to in a while, and I didn't make myself get started working on stuff before I left for lunch. :o But something is better than nothing, right?

This is a great idea!

I started something on my own a few weeks ago, where I have to get at least one thing done when I get home from work. It doesn't have to be a huge project, but at least one thing. Usually I get home around 6 and just crash in front of the TV.

I've been pretty good about it and it's helped me get more housework done, since it isn't a huge looming list on weekends anymore. This week was bad because I wasn't getting out of work until 9 at night and doing chores after working 14 hours is too much to ask!

Plus it's summer and DH is home, so he does all the cooking. When school starts again in fall, plus he and I start taking master's classes again, I bet it's all going to go out the window!

mmeblue

greenbunny - that's a good idea. I may have to implement it once school starts back up. In the summer, I'm just lazy, but when I'm teaching, I'm always exhausted. The one-thing-a-day plan sounds good. Be sure to let us know what you accomplish each day so we can cheer you on! :)

Meanwhile, there's nothing like impending company to get my house clean. Somehow it makes DH pitch in, too, and everything gets tidied up. I swept and he vacuumed, which is nice. :) Now we just have to go by the grocery store so I can cook dinner tonight - but the house is clean! :D

I agree the one thing a day is a great idea. I have been doing that for the last couple weeks and it has been working out well. Especially with our schedule, both working, going to the gym 3-4 nights a week, and our weekends completely booked.

So tonight I have two things I want to accomplish - laundry, cook chicken, and if there is time move some items out of the guest room and into the finally furnished master bedroom.

I'm a little late, but based on my complete and utter laziness this weekend, I could also use some motivation! I hope you all don't mind if I join in.

Things to do this week (incl upcoming weekend):
Clean out old bills & papers
Pot plants on back patio
Lay 2nd layer of mulch around patio done
Write Grandparents a letter
Install flagpole
Buy football tickets done

Big things to do before Labor Day:
Figure out big planting bed in front yard
Plan Labor Day camping trip
Get DH's bday gifts
Clean basement
Sell old stuff on ebay or put in SIL garage sale
Donate winter clothes to goodwill
Have end of summer/football season kick-off party

Big things to do by the end of the year :) :
Make Europe trip scrapbook/album (from our May 2004 trip)
Get shelves for living room
Order dining room set
Redo dining room

I did my lecture and was told it went well...who knows??? But that screwed my weekend.

Anyway, my friend just had a baby so getting sidetracked by rushing to hospital.

I did everything on the list but the reading and writing! Which was absolutely the most crucial thing.

So I'm going to read all the relevant parts or R including Collected Papers. I've decided to finish this damn thing by Friday.

I MUST finish it by Friday...and so my goal for this week: Spend at least 6 hours a day writing! Then if I can do that I can take Sunday off.

I will finish this proposal. I will!

Oh, and I gained 5 lbs. Sob!

Wish me luck.................Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrggggggh hhhh.

Just checking in with my updated list. Painting the furniture took much longer than expected so my items got pushed back a few days.

What I have to do this week:
- Clean carpet in spare room and arrange furniture
- Make menu and grocery list for Saturday shopping
- Clean our room and bathroom
- Buy a gift for Saturday's wedding
- Wrap present for next week's wedding
- FINISH LAST BATCH OF THANK YOU NOTES (can we put this off ANY longer???)
- Put up pictures and blinds in guest room
- Clean out living room (new dumping ground)
- Go through crap in guest room closet, hang new rod

Okay, checking in! This week is insane due to our annual summer party this weekend. Unfortunately the house is still a disaster from moving in February, and I've waited until the panic of 65 guests seeing the place in six days to get stuff done!

Sunday night I stayed up until 3:45 am cleaning up the office and guest rooms. They were just stacked with boxes and boxes of stuff. Unfortunately I ended up stuffing a lot of things in closets, when I'd wanted to first scrub down the closet shelving, so I'll have to go back and do that. I also did a cursory sweep of my closet and got rid of some clothes. I have three bags of trash and four bags of stuff for the Salvation Army. Anybody else want to admit to throwing stuff away when DH isn't looking? He's such a &*$@(# pack rat!

Last night DH and I moved the pile of boxes in the back corner of the garage up into the attic above the garage. Unfortunately we will have to take it all down after the party again because DH and my dad are not done installing flooring up there.

We also got pictures hung in the guest bathroom and the kitchen. DH used his new laser level and I have to insist that you run right out and get one! Last year at our old place we were drawing lines all over the walls, then erasing them over and over, fighting and yelling at each other about the crooked pictures...now we popped on the laser and hung three pictures around a room all exactly even with each other, in under fifteen minutes.

Tonight my goals are to drop off the Salvation Army stuff, and clean up the basement (that will be at least a six-hour project). Also our bedroom suite is being delivered today, so I had to help DH move out all our old stuff this morning and we will need to find a place to put it.

Still for this week, I have a hair appointment, so I need time to surf online for photos of what I want, but I have to finish cleaning all the bathrooms, vacuum and mop, and shine the hardwood floors.

One tip that's helped me: I rarely vacuum because DH always has the vacuum on the wrong floor of the house from where I want it, and it's too heavy for me to carry up and down myself (last time I tried, I nearly tumbled down the stairs, and I took out a chunk of drywall when I fell against the wall). Now I just use a little broom to sweep the hardwood and tile on the first floor and it is so much easier, so I do it more often. That covers all three entrances to the house, so that is where the floor is most dirty. (Also, I'm ashamed to admit that my white cat shows me when I need to sweep--if her fur starts to show little pieces of stuff, I know she's been laying on a dirty floor. :o )

Sorry for the length, this week is unusually hectic.
