Just saw gas today in Daytona Beach for $3.02, it was ~$3.06 before.

For anyone in aviation, at my office our current prices are:
100LL (avgas) $4.65/gal
Jet A - $4.30 (and $4.40 with prist)

Just be happy ya'll drive cars and not fly airplanes. ;) :p

About $1.40 per LITRE, what does that equate to in US terms? I am no good with maths. :)There are approximately 4 liters in a gallon, so you're paying roughly $5.60/gallon.

tlew12778
07-30-2006, 11:31 AM
There are 3.8 litres in a gallon.

Today we paid 1.36 euro per liter which was cheap! That's like $6.56. I remember when I thought 1.19 euro per gallon was expensive two summers ago :(.

It's just crazy isn't it? :(

It was only a year or so ago we were paying around 90 cents per litre too. I miss those days.

I live in northern/northeastern OH and it's around $2.90-$3.05ish depending on where you go. It varies SO much around my area.
We just came back from visiting family in the Dayton, OH area and the big news was a couple of the local gas stations on a certain road was at $2.65! We didn't have to wait but a few minutes because we went at an odd hour since they stayed open for 24 hours a few days. It's sad when we get excited about paying that ridiculous amount for gas.

Its been about 2.96 for a while now. It cost me $46 to fill up my car. I remember when it would cost my parents that much to fill up their big trucks, and I used to think it was crazy now Im sure it cost them like $100.00 a fill up.

$3.02 right outside of DC in MD at Costco. I did some shopping this morning, and how interesting it was to drive down a major road behind the University of Maryland, from the less affluent county (PG) into a much more affluent county (Montgomery), and see the gas prices go from $3.02-$3.05 to $3.25... all within a 4 mile stretch!

I live in West Virginia and it is $3.05. Went up six cents from lastnight. We have a grocery store here that offers fuel perks at its Gas Station. It is called Giant Eagle and the gas station is Get Go. They are doing double perks right now. For every $50 you spend you get 20cents off a gallon of gas so that sure can help.

Tampa, FL I paid $3.29 a gallon yesterday. My car only takes Premium.

This was of course at the last gas station before a bridge I needed to go over. At other stations it's probably around $3.20. Boy that $1.35 could have gone toward my rennovations! :p

I filled up last week and it cost me 30 bucks! That is expensive for my Sentra. Today gas is around 2.81 which I'm pretty sure is the most expensive I've seen here. I live in south Texas.

I remember when gas was 99 cents a gallon. It wasn't that long ago.

I definitely wish we had good public transportation here. Well, we have a bus line but it's pretty nasty and I wouldn't feel safe going on it alone (actually probably not at all). Plus, the bus stops aren't everywhere so you'd still have to drive to a bus stop and leave your car in the parking lot of a store. So it pretty much defeats the purpose.

UGH, places are NOT suppossed to do this!!!!!

If they word it correctly, there's nothing wrong with doing it at all. You can give a discount for cash, but you can't say that you're charging more for credit.

Gas it up to $3.11 here. :( Man this sucks.

On the ESE side of Nashville, hovering between $2.89-2.95 a gallon for low-grade. This past weekend, parts of western KY and just north of Clarksville, TN were going for less than $2.70, but it was "cheapo" gas.

I'd never heard of charging less for gas if you pay for cash until I went to Hilton Head last summer. They don't do that around here, apparently.

Missy2u, Mapquest has a gasprice map http://gasprice.mapquest.com and according to it, there's a BP at 2113 N. Arlington Heights Road that has unleaded at $3.32. I'm not sure how often it's updated, but it's worth a shot, I'd imagine! (And if you want to call before you go, the number is 394-0003.)

Per the map, the cheapest gas close to my house is $3.32 a gallon too. Bleh. I have half a tank yet, but I suppose I ought to fill up 'cause I can't imagine it's going any way but up.

I keep a little book in my car with a mileage/gas log. (Don't ask, it's so embarassing if someone else is in my car and I have to get gas.) I looked back and was really surprised that I was only paying like $1 something for gas when I first bought my car in 2000. I really thought it was more than that back then! I think its at $3.89-ish for regular unleaded.

They are saying Chicagoland is the highest in the nation...I have no flipping clue why though.

4 reasons:

High taxes on gas compared to the region as a whole
Low inventories
Special formulation required for smog control in the summer (costs more)
Refinery problems in the Midwest

Yep it is. It is against the law here in Oklahoma specifically, and Texas if I remember right. It is also against the Visa Merchant agreement for a company to do this. Specifically it is illegal to charge more to use a CC, but not illegal to give a cash discount. It's all in the wording.

Yeah, we're buying a lot of flannel pjs for the winter. To think we were spending $600-700 a month for oil last year and now we're looking at a dollar more a gallon than it was last year.

We're lucky to be able to tighten our belts in different places to be able to swing it, but there are so many people who will be choosing between heat and food this winter, it's so, so sad.
