First of all please dont flame me because I am sunburned I already realize I am a moron and it was an accident. Now on to my story.
Recently we got a pool for our backyard and I have been using it frequently. Not functioning at 100% I forgot to put sunscreen on my legs. Duh stupid me didnt think they would burn. I was wrong. Now they arent burnt anymore and they look awful. I look like I have a tan on the parts that sunburned and look pale white still on the other parts. I look like a spotted tiger seriously. Does anyone know how to fix this or if it will go away or anything??? I cant wear shorts it looks so bad. :o

I'm sorry I can't give you any advice ... as a once-a-summer-even-though-I-seriously-know-better burner, I should be able to help, but I can't.
How did they get splotchy? For what it's worth, it usually takes my color (I'm super light skinned and freckled) about 2 weeks to start to blend in w/surrounding un-sunned skin.
Good Luck!

Gone are my tanning days, all I ever do is burn. Burn, peel, burn, peel... repeat as needed.
I've never heard of anything that helps a splotchy tan other than blending in makeup. Never occured to me to try to do anything... I figured it was what it was.

You might want to get your hands on a high performance exfoliating lotion to help you even out your skin tone. Here is a great one 7% partialy stabilized lotion...I use it religiously and it helped my sun damaged skin become even on my legs: http://platinumskincare.com/7-percent-glycolic-body-lotion.htm

Sounds like me.
I went fishing once on an overcast day wearing shorts. Didn't think anything of it and my legs burned so bad, I actually should of gone to the ER. I couldn't go to work/school for days. I couldn't even go to the store to get something to put on it because the lights in the store were making my legs burn/sizzle. It was very bad.
Also, my lovely SO tends to not apply my sunscreen on all parts of my back/arms. I have burned with an actual hand print on my arm
As far as fixing it......I have no idea. I guess you can just wait it out?

How it happened...well I guess how I was sitting the sun was much more direct on that side of my legs so the outside of my right leg and the inside of the left leg are the worst. Which is way it looks weird because its not the whole leg!
I might try that exfoliating stuff because it still isnt getting any better :o

I would suggest getting a good exfoliating (sp?) scrub....I suggest the True Blue Salt Scrub from Bath and Body Works It is awesome.....it comes in a tub that is part of the True Blue Spa Collection at BBW. I use it on my whole body and I always use it before I shave my legs because it makes them smooth for days.... Take a nice bath and soak for a few minuts and then use the exfoliating scrub....after that, go to a good salon and get a spray tan. It would probably help to even out your skin tone a little bit.

Can you tell me what you used on your sunburn? I am a once-a-summer-even-though-I-seriously-know-better burner, too. I was at my daughter's softball tournament this weekend. It was chilly, windy and overcast most of the time. But, my legs got fried. They hurt to touch and now I see little circles all over them. I don't know if they are blisters or what. I'm trying to figure out what would be best to put on them at this point. I have been using some after sun gels and lotions, would something else be better?

rene' ~ I'd use aloe vera and let your legs heal.

I’m not sure if it is a good idea to exfoliate sunburned skin. Your skin is very sensitive now and it might hurt it more.
I'd use a tinted moisturizer to minimize the color difference for now.

I'm seconding the aloe vera suggestion. Fresh, straight from the plant is ideal. The packaged store stuff often contains alcohol, which is drying and not very good for burns.

I am an expert burner! My worst burn ever came from working a carwash, and like a PP mentioned, I should have gone straight to the ER. I ended up with blisters for days and my eyes swelled shut the day after it happened. I was a sophomore in HS and ended up having a "permanent" tan where the skin was exposed until after I graduated college. :o
Use aloe vera on the sunburn to moisturize, cool, and heal the skin.
To cover up the splotchy skin, I would use a tinted moisturizer or one of the lotions with sunless tanner in it. Then only when you are sure your skin has healed, exfoliate it.
