Since we are heading into the third trimester, and we have had so many changes with the other threads, I thought it would be a good idea to get a new one setup over here with all of your previous data! This should look familiar to all of you! Now we can edit your changes as far as appointment dates, due dates, etc.!
Like before, please post all changes in RED!
Please email to me your most recent ultrasound and/or belly pic to place in the beginning of the thread! You can email this to philnikki (newlon007@yahoo.com)
Updates to ultrasound or belly pic images after this initial set up can just be posted in your post like before
Hope you guys enjoy our new home!!!

Just checking in...
I've been making curtains for the nursery. Got one done yesterday and am hoping to finish the other one today. I'm so excited! Well, and quite proud of myself --this is the first sewing project that I've actually finished!
We started our L&D classes this week. I've been so good so far about doing all my exercises--let's hope I can keep it up. It really helps knowing you have to report in!
I've been really tired the past few nights (finishing up week 29)--I wonder if the baby is going through a growth spurt or this is just the way it will be from now on?
Have you guys made any decisions about your moms coming after the baby arrives? I know my DH will be able to take at least a week off work and be home with me--and probably more time if I need him. I'm just not sure what to ask my mom to do? I want to include her, but I don't want her sitting around here all day either. My husband is really, really good about housework so I feel like he can handle most of that--plus he likes to keep busy. I can't really see him slothing around with me.

Yay for our info back! Thanks for keeping up with all this!!
I too am really tired, week 29. I've been trying to go to bed so early but DS won't let me. So last night I had my mom watch him and I was asleep by 8:00!! I was just exhausted, falling asleep at the table tired!
Today's my birthday, yay!
My next appointment is July 19th and we're having a 4D ultrasound done on July 6th !
I had to wait 3 weeks even though I'm at the every 2 weeks already because of work stuffs.
I can't wait to hit the magic 30 next week. Just 10 weeks left then! and DS came at 37weeks, so I could only have 8 weeks left now. Crazy!
Today I'm hoping to get setup to tour L&D at the hospital. Due to insurance changes, it won't be the same one I gave birth to DS in.
Post-partum Visitors - Last time I wouldn't let anyone visit for a couple of weeks. Then I just wanted to show him off too bad to not let anyone see him. This time, my mom MOVED here to be with me when he's born. With a 2 year old here already, I really think I'll need the extra help. That and DH is just not the cleaning/cooking type and I want for him to be able to enjoy the baby too, not just come home and start cleaning/cooking so that I can be with the new boy.
Jo - I don't recall if I knew before that you picked a name, but I saw it in your sig. Love it! :)
Today DH goes in for some kind of contrast dye angiography thingy at the MRI place. This will be his 3rd test so far in searching for an answer about the lump on his neck. It may be Wednesday before we have any clue what's going on. If ya'll could keep him in your thoughts, I'd appreciate it.
Have a good day everybody! I'm so looking forward to a 3 day weekend! :D

Thanks for setting up the new thread Nikki!
Hisdaffodil-Happy Birthday!
I am at week 30-thanks to my journal. Last night I slept terrible and had a dream that I woke up and was delivering the baby! He was adorable. But for some reason DH would not bring me to the hospital! I watched a movie last night w/ Gweneth Paltrow-It obviously triggered the dream. Not more movies about pregnant woman and insane mother in laws!
I have also been really tired. I find myself more tired when he moves around alot during the day. My boss is on vaca this week so I am taking it easy and working from home :)
Travelling I am going to the Niagara Falls on July15th and was wondering what your Doctor's think about road travel in the 8th month? Mine said as long as I stop every 1-2 hours and walk around I should be fine. Also, should I consider contacting another hospital in case I go into labor early?
Hope everyone has a great weekend and don't overdue it! Happy Fourth!!

Thanks for setting up this thread Nikki - I miss WC, but this format, in my opinion, is so much better.
randysmandy - I think traveling should be fine...just take it easy and have a plan if something does happen (know where the hospitals are, etc). Have fun - I hear Niagra Falls is beautiful.
Hisdaffodil - Happy Birthday!! I am tired also...I hear that comes back in the third trimester. I will keep DH in my thoughts and prayers.
BeachBum - making curtains  - wow. I got a sewing machine for my birthday (October) and used it once to hem something - it is very intimidating!
My next appointment is July 8th..I am kind of bummed because I was told no more ultrasounds because the baby is too big - but some of you seem to be getting ultrasounds. I want to see my baby again! I am nervous most of the time because I have a very quite baby - hardly any movement. Sometimes I don't even feel pregnant..is that normal??
I am headed to the beach this afternoon for the weekend - we won't be back until Tuesday!! I can't wait to get there. Have a safe and happy 4th everyone!!

Welcome, Pinkie!!
hisdaffodil Happy Birthday!!!
postpartum visitors - Argh! This is a sore spot with me. My Mother in Law has invited herself over and plans to say *indefinately*. She NEVER makes plans, just decides she is coming and stays until she feels like leaving and its going to be the same for her birth. Just frustrates me to no end that she didn't even bother to ask us if it was ok until a week ago :( And what am I supposed to say, when my DH seems to think she will be this big help??? She drives me batty on a normal occasion (she really naive and forgetful all the time), so I can't imagine what this is going to be like. I warned DH that I loved him, and I will respect that his mom wants to be around, but that I was NOT happy about it (made sure he knew it was not just her, I just wanted it to be us for a bit before we had stay over night visitors). She she is coming for his two weeks off, so hopefully he will be my buffer ;) I want to give it a try because I might just be overreacting (these hormones do a number on ya), but I am still sad about it :( Oh, well. I just plan to lock myself in my room with her if MIL drives me too insane ;) lol
randysmandy - As far as I know, my OB said that I should not be travelling more than an hour from my hospital. Now, this is because I went into false labor a few weeks ago, so I am probably not the best person to ask :) But, that is the ultra conservative opinion, so hopefully someone else will have a more liberal option for you :) Have fun on your trip!!!

Yippee! I'm so excited about our new thread!! Thanks Nikki!!!
My next appointment is on July 21st. Going to do the GD test & have a regular check up. I don't think that I get any more U/S either...
Welcome Pinkie!
Post-partum visitors - My mom is awesome, she *offered* her assistance when we come home from the hospital, but doesn't want to intrude... :D I've told her that (at this point) I want her to come over when DH goes back to work, but I reserve the right to change my mind and have her come over earlier or later!
No news on this front from the in-laws, we aren't that close, so I'm hoping they give us our space too.
Traveling - I just have one more trip planned in 2 weeks... other than that, I'm staying home! Haven't heard anything concrete about this from my doctor though...
Hope everyone is well, thanks again for updating the thread!! :p pc

hisdaffodil - Happy Birthday!!. Hope your DH's test goes well today too. Thanks for the comps on the name :) I don't know if I ever really "announced" it in the mommies thread...
Beachbum - Go you on the curtains! I want to make curtains sooo bad! But I don't have a sewing machine anymore. I am going to ask my mom to make them for me because she can whip them out pretty quickly and I can't find anything to match her bedding "ready made".
Nikki - Thanks for getting this new thread set up. I can totally understand where you are coming from in regard to your MIL.
Brink - Hope your 3 hour test went ok. What exactly do you have to do?
Pinkie - Welcome :)
Randysmandy - My doc said if everything is normal, going on a road trip is fine. He personally doesn't want me to be more then two hours away from home starting at week 30 but it's for pre-term issues and nothing else.
PP Visitors - (no, not really pee pee visitors;) Like Pixiecat's mom, my mom has offered her assistance and is not the type to intrude at all. I think I will take her up on it though because DH will be working out of town still - although he will take a week or two off to help and get into a routine.
Being Tired - I have been exhausted this week - I have been going home and taking a nap after work. Luckily I have been sleeping fairly well through the night - at least the sleep I am getting is a good deep sleep despite having to get up to go pee every 2 hours.
HypnoBabies - Anyone else doing this for their L&D??? I received my home study kit on Wednesday and have been reading through the introduction and lesson 1. It is really interesting!
Any Exciting Plans for the 4th?? - We usually always stay home on the night of the 4th because of our pets - we don't like to leave them because one of the dogs and one of the cats gets terribly upset by the fireworks. Plus we have quite a bit of work to do on Addy's room ... still no drywall up :(

Thanks Nikki for setting us up over here!! I'll definitely still be your co-moderator, as I think we're leaving WC behind:(.
I had my glucose test on Tuesday, should hear results today or next Tuesday. We're having our 3D/4D ultrasound done next Thursday, July 7!! Then my next appt is 7/12. I do get another u/s done 2 weeks after that, so at 32 weeks. My dr. routinely does a second one then, but I definitely get another one bc I had a low-lying placenta at my 16week scan and we have to check to see where it is, especially after the spotting episode last week.
post partum visitors - My parents will come up (they're 3 hours away) the minute I go into labor and at least my mom will be there for with us for all of labor (bc I want her there and I probably couldn't keep her out of the room anyway!). As far as my dad, it's really up to him as to what he wants, I'm comfortable either way. So depending on what day I give birth (weekday or weekend), my parents will probably stay at our house in the evenings with our dog and then the day that I come home from the hospital, we've asked for it just to be DH and I for the first week (he's taking a week off right away). Then, when he goes back to work, my mom (not sure about my dad?) will come stay for a week. Then, my DH will either take another week off when my mom leaves (if I'm still not comfortable with it being just the baby and I), or he'll save that week for later during my maternity leave. I think we'll end up going to my parents house one weekend a month and they'll come here one weekend a month. As far as DH's parents, his mom passed away 4.5 years ago and his dad lives here (although we rarely see or talk to him by choice), so he'll probably pop into the hospital after the baby is here. All of our siblings are younger (early-mid 20's), single, and live in other cities, so I'm not sure what their plans are, but I doubt any of them plan on staying for more than a day here or there. I think my maternal grandparents might also come up for a few days here and there. So, all in all, we pretty much told people how we wanted it and they're listening to us! Sorry that was so long!!
hisdaffodil - Happy birthday!! Any special plans tonight?
Beachbum - Totally impressed by the curtains!! I had to put my grandma on that duty! I got a sewing machine for Christmas 3 years ago (that I asked to get) so that I could make curtains (bc I never find anything I like) and I've yet to use it!!
Pinkie - Welcome, I'm glad to see you finally "outed" yourself!! ;)
Randysmom - My dr. said I wouldn't WANT to travel after 28ish weeks, but that it was ok until about 36 weeks when I shouldn't go more than an hour from home. At 34 weeks, I'll be traveling to my hometown, about 3 hours away for my family baby shower.
Tired - I don't think that's hit me yet? (I'm 28 weeks, YEAH 3rd trimester!). I think I'm too busy nesting to be slowed down!!haha
4th plans - We're having a bit party tomorrow (dinner, fireworks, etc) and then we're spending the rest of the weekend on house/baby stuff (painting, cleaning out basement, etc.).

LABOR BUDDIES!
This was something that we were going to do in the old WC thread, that I think is still a great idea over here at CC! If you'd like to participate, send me an email to aswearingen@gmail.com with your CC name (and real name if you'd like!) and phone number (is that how we should do it?) and I'll pair everyone up with someone else (don't worry, only me and your labor buddy will see your info!). Then, when you go into labor, you can call your labor buddy so that she can post for you with the name, gender, stats, etc. How does that sound? I probably will wait until the end of July or so to do the pairings, until we have all the Sept mommies settled over here! Also, should we pair up people do in early Sept with those due in late Sept? Let me know if you have any suggestions!

Yeah! Yeah! Yeah for this new thread! Thanks for putting it together, Nikki! We already seem to have more traffic here than on the other thread!
Holy Crap! I am THIRTY weeks today. After today, I am 9 weeks and x number of days until the baby is due. AHH!!
My next appt. is July 18 for a doctor visit and u/s. Since we're doing updates, can I change my gender prediction? I am absolutely CONVINCED this baby is a BOY.
Post Partum Visitors- Scott is staying home for the first three weeks. My mom is coming to stay with us for the first week. She understands (I think/hope) that her role is take care of household tasks while we take care of and bond with the baby. The second week we've asked to be alone. The third week, my MIL is coming (Scott needs to be around as the buffer...too much history to get into now  ). Then I'll be on my own from there. We live in a great neighborhood with lots of SAHMs, so I know I'll have extra help if I need it.
Plans for the 4th - This is my absolute favorite holiday of the year! I am majorly patriotic and I love that this is a holiday without any pressures from family or retailers. All you need is a BBQ grill, good friends, (usually a good cocktail) and you're guaranteed a good time! Plus, there's fireworks!! On Saturday, our neighborhood is hosting a huge picnic and activities for families. On Monday, we are grilling at our place and friends will probably come and go throughout the day --- perfection!
Tiredness - I was doing really well with my energy during the day and sleeping at night. However, last night I woke up at 3 to go pee and never went back to sleep....ugh!
Beachbum- I am SO impressed with your curtain making ability. I'm so pathetic I can't even sew on a button  ! Post pics when you get a chance!
Happy Birthday, Hisdaffodil!
RandysMandy - How long of a drive will it be for you? I would definitely map out hospitals you'll hit along the way. I read in another thread about a mommy-to-be taking her car seat on a road trip *just in case*. Hopefully you won't need it, but it might be a precaution worth taking. Regardless, have a great time!
cr8zyforaf - Have a great time at the beach! Be sure to drink lots of water!
Welcome, Pinkie! Congrats on your baby girl!
Nikki - I don't know if you ever saw my question to you on the other thread. I was wondering where you got your bassinet. Do you know if the mattress seems softer than what comes in the Pack'n'Play?

Visitors
Nikki-your MIL needs to respect your space. I know that you don't want to step on DH's toes, but it is importantt that you have time to yourselves. Even if it is just for one full day after you come home from the hospital.
Of course-how dod you actually tell someone that you don't want them to come over?????
I have a similar issue--My MIL lives upstairs! I am in huge trouble. I know that I can lock the door, but I was wondering how I was going to say-"can you please stay away for the first couple days?" and "Please come down only for an hour if you do?" So what I did was complain about my mom (read on) saying how she was taking a week off after the baby's here to stay with me ALL DAY (my mom doesn't have her license) for a week! I went on to add that if anyone came over I would like it to be after the 1st day and only for an hour....I think she got the hint. :-) But she is going to be my Nanny,so I am thankful to have her so close. Especially for all the questions I'll have.
I just love my friends--all of them said-"call me when you are ready to have visitors!"
PrincessCrappy-I'm glad your mom understands!

Yea, new thread! We are all in the final homestretch. threadmistresses, can you update my age to 24? Thank you!.
Post-partum visitors: my DH is a lot like Beachbum's. He does more housework than me, although I use pregnancy as an excuse right now. My mother will be coming for a week or so, and then we will have a steady stream of visitors. DH and I are both from Oregon, so ALL our family will be flying down at different times. Since baby will be in our room at first, I think they will be staying in the baby's room (old guest room), since we still have the queen bed in there. However, when he gets older, they'll be staying in a hotel!
I haven't done a thing for baby. I have a baby shower in Oregon next week, which is turning out to be much bigger than expected (about 40 people). My parents will drive the stuff down at the end of July, and that's when we plan on getting the room ready. We are doing a vintage sports theme in the nursery so he can grow into the room as he gets older. DH and I are baseball fanatics, so this little boy has no chance, really.
I'm feeling great! Now that I'm not working anymore (school year officially over and I'm staying home next year), I'm sleeping in, cleaning house, and just resting. Of course, with the loss of my salary, we are now on a budget, but now I have time to plan meals and actually cook, when I used to be too busy (I was teaching and finishing my Master's). DH now complains that it's difficult for him to get up in the morning with me still in bed! I do find sleeping a bit difficult now.
I have gained a ton of weight (about 25-28 pounds), and although I would like to say it's all baby, well, it's in the hips and butt, too. I wasn't particularly underweight, but surprisingly, my doctor hasn't even mentioned it. I did pass my GTT last week, so I guess I'm healthy. I figure I'll probably gain about 40-45 total, but I'm young and like to exercise, so I'm hoping it will come off. I beat myself up sometimes when I see these tiny bellies, but there's nothing to do now.
Oh, I'm really trying to think of a middle name for our son. My DH is half Japanese, so we have a very Japanese last name. Our son's first name will be Josiah, and I like Thomas as a middle name. DH would like to carry out the tradition of Japanese middle names, but I think Josiah Akira is too odd. Any other middle names you guys like with Josiah? Our last name is three syllables, so I want something short. Sigh... this is tough!
Oh, I am off to the fair for the afternoon!

Thanks for getting this thread started - it is so much better over here! Just checking in, wishing everyone a happy and healthy last three months. We're in the home stretch!
I failed my 1st glucose test and had to take the 3 hour GTT today - it was terrible. I came so close to being sick and then to passing out. But I made it through, now I'm thinking positive thoughts until the holiday is over. I can call in for my results 1st thing Tuesday morning - I really hope I passed this time!!!
Our nursery furniture arrived yesterday! Just waiting now on the glider and ottoman. Oh, and for the nursery to be cleared out and painted. We've got good incentive now since the (newly-assembled) crib and dresser are sitting out in our living room.
Hope everyone has a great holiday weekend!

cr8zy - Just a quick post to make ya feel better, we dont' get any more u/s's either. We're getting one done through a private imaging company, it's not through my doctor or anything. It's just to see the baby and get pictures and video, not for diagnostic purposes. You can look in your phone book or ask your OB or check out a Kid Directory in your area and generally find one fairly easy. They seem to be very popular these days! We're doing it because at our gender u/s he was turned backwards and upside down and so we got NO profile or facial shots. All we had for his baby book were his feet and his boy parts! So we wanted to get pics for his book and because well... it's not like I'll be able to get pics of him like this when he's out, ya know? Can't redo these, so might as well get 'em while I can.
Thanks for the Bday wishes! Nope, no plans really. DH has to work and so did I today. Probably just a low-key weekend.

Wow - I can't believe how many posts we have had just since yesterday. Seems like everyone really likes the new site.
3 Hour - I had mine this morning (thanks for asking Jo&sean). It wasn't too bad. You get there and they draw your blood, you drink the same drink you did for the 1 hour (but this time on an empty stomach, which is a little gross). Then they draw your blood again every hour for three hours. Only bummer was they didn't just put in a line and draw from the same one, she stuck me four separate times. I told her my arms look like a heroine addict with the "tracks".
Hisdoffodil - Happy Birthday.
Pinkie - Welcome to the thread.
Ultrasound - we are getting another one at week 35 at the specialist office. That is because of the partial previa. I'm glad we get another one and this is the same office that also does the 3D/4D scan, so I'm hoping they turn that on.
Visitors - For the actual birth, I've told everyone they can be there before and after but not during. I think I want it to be just DH and me. Plus, once you let one person in, how do you say no to others? After we come home gets more complicated. My mom is living with us 4 days per week. She moved out of the area but still commutes down for work and stays with us during the week. So, if they baby is born on a weekday, she'll be here. Otherwise, it should just be us. My MIL has offered, but I've told her I'll keep her on call and let her know if I need her. I have a feeling I'm going to have too many visitors and have to tell people to leave on occasion just to be alone. My DH took this year off work to remodel our house, so we will both be home for the first six weeks after she arrives.
Our house is coming along. My DH is finishing the electrical today and the plumber is working on his part. Then the insulation people are coming first thing Tuesday morning and the drywall guys will be here Tuesday afteroon. So, it looks like we may be able to paint in two weeks. We still have a long way to go (doors, floors, fixtures, etc), but we have a chance of having a baby's room by August.

Any other middle names you guys like with Josiah?
I have a good friend named Josiah Brett, but he goes by Brett.
Is anyone else still struggling with a name?
We have a girl name, but no boy name picked out. Seriously, I don't know how we are going to decide! I thought one would just magically appear or something but it hasn't. There are several names we like but none that are screaming "I'm the one". Plus, my husband and I just don't see eye to eye on names. He keeps picking out these 80's cool guy names. Blech!

If there are any of you out there -- here are my symptoms:
Threw up 3 times since 4am (its now noon) This is very different for me as I threw up only once during early pregnancy (was nauseauted more than anything)
I am getting pains that extend from my lower back all the way through my abdomen. They last 35 seconds approx. and have been occurring in irregular frequency, but about 10-15 minutes apart. The last time I was having contractions they felt more like pressure and tightening. These are down right take your breath away painful.
Any thoughts?? I am still waiting to hear from my OB. I dont want to go again if this is not serious, so please be honest with me!!
Thanks!!

Nikki - If you're still there, I'd wait a little bit to hear back from your OB...if it continues and you haven't heard in 30 mins or so, you might head to L&D just to be safe! Make sure and keep us updated, we'll be thinking/praying for you!!

My OB said to pay particular attention to the ones that hurt through the back and take your breath away. I would go to labor and delivery just to be safe.

Hey Nikki--
I guess you posted about an hour ago? I just saw your message. I hope you heard back from your doctor?!
If you are still having those pains I would definitely go in to L&D. I think its always better to err on the side of caution.
Keeping my fingers crossed for you...

I know it's been a while since you posted, I think. But I'd go ahead and go in. Better safe than sorry and this sounds like it hurts! They'll just send you home if it's nothing, no harm done. Let us know what's up when you can! We'll be thinking about ya!

Hey guys!
Thanks for all of your advice. My OB did call back and she did say to go in. So in I went with a lot of pain. They gave me demerol, and zofran (for the nausiness). As soon as they hooked me up to the monitors, they saw I was having contractions again :( They gave me Procardia to stop those. I actually have a prescription for it now too. He wants me to get into see my OB on Tuesday, even though my appt is already set for Wed. He says he is not sure what keeps causing my contractions though :( I don't like it when they just treat your syptoms and send you home. I want to know what the heck is wrong with me, ya know?? Sheesh  Anyway -- the good news is the baby is fine, I am not dialated at all. I just wish I could get my uterus to get in line with rest of my body. I fell asleep as soon as I got home and am just now waking up (side effect of the demerol so they tell me) Still feeling contractions and getting ready to take my pill. Again, they want me to pretty much be on bedrest as long as possible, so this week I will be just lying around again until I start my new job on the 11th. Again, thanks for your thoughts guys!
Take Care

Nikki - I'm so glad to hear Ava is doing great!! Sorry to hear about the contractions though:(. At least the bed rest is timed well, right? ;) Take it easy and keep checking in so that we know everything's ok!
OMG - I HAVE to go to bed, it's 12:30am and I just finished painting yet another room! In the last 3 weeks, I've (DH has helped a littled) painted the nursery, the guestroom, the hallways in the lowerlevel, and today I painted the hallways on the upper level and just finished the 1/2 bath. I'm exhausted! We're having a July 4th party tomorrow, and what started out as 8 of us has grown to almost 20. So, tomorrow I get to get up and finish cleaning the house (DH started tonight) while DH mows, then go to the grocery store and come home and make a ton of food!! I think we might just relax on Monday:). That would be good news for DH, he's pretty exhausted from my nesting! :D However, I'd like to paint the living room level (last one to do). We'll see though, I might give us the day off!
Hope everyone is enjoying their long weekend!

HI - I found you all:)
All of my in-laws just left yesterday and I am pooped! I am feeling good but more achy - my hips are really sore.
I don't have time for shout-outs right now, but hope to get caught up tonight after DS goes to bed.

wildcat - I'm with you on that, although I didn't get near as much accomplished!! I was still up to midnight with this crazy urge to clean clean clean! I cleaned the bathroom, the office, did a ton of laundry, then I went and made some drywall patches and patched some holes DH hadn't gotten around to fixing. Then I started cutting curtains for sewing, then I just fell asleep. Heh. Monday I'm going to pull a "while you were out" on DH and totally redo our bedroom/baby room while he's at work, since I'm off. It'll be fun! Wish I had the money they have on the show though!!
nikki - So sorry you're having contraction problems! I hope they calm down and go away for a while! It's great that you're not dilating though. Keep baking, little girl!
Hope everyone's having a good 4th!
Oh, I couldn't remember about the 15th either, so I'm just now getting mine mailed out probably Tuesday or Wednesday.

I'm having such a productive weekend! I have cleaned out my 2 closets and now have 2 huge bags ready to go to Goodwill, all clothes and shoes are organized and I've packed away all of my suits that I won't be wearing as a SAHM. It was kind of sad to pack away my work clothes, but I'm more excited about this new adventure. While I was doing that, Scott was installing the new wood blinds we ordered for the nursery. He also assembled a new desk for the office and a filing cabinet. Woohoo! I think my nesting is starting to rub off on him.
We went to Best Buy on Friday and bought a new camera. I loved our old one, a Canon SD30, but at 3 years old it was getting super slow. We bought a new Canon s400, I think someone on this thread recommended it or something like it. They had to order it, so I'll get on Friday. Right now my husband is back at Best Buy, buying a video camera. We decided on a Sony digicam (I can't remember what model).
Wildcat - Great belly shot! I love the skirt you have on. The color of the nursery is perfect!
MichieG and Brink - Sending you good thoughts on passing your 3 hour test!
Beachbum - We are also still struggling with boy names. We have 2 girl names that we both love. I'm really starting to stress about this, especially since everyone that sees me swears we are having a boy. We each have a name that we love and neither is willing to compromise yet...ugh!
Nikki - I am so sorry about your scare! It sounds like things are under control -- just continue to take it easy. Be sure to let us know what your doctor says on Tuesday.
AlisonCo - I wasn't sure about the secret gifts, so I just went ahead and ordered mine on Friday. Although stupid BRU just sent me an e-mail saying one of the things I purchased is on backorder.
It's great to see some more familiar faces around here!

I'm a little behind here, but I'll answer some of the questions.
I plan on just having DH and I in the room while I labor & deliver. (and the doctor/nurses of course). After the baby is born my mom and little sister (she's 11) may come to visit for a little bit which would be fine with me. Other family members from both sides will probably come some time in October.
Name issues- we know we are having a boy (at least that's what the ultrasound said) and we've got the names narrowed down, but I just cannot make a decision. DH likes Brendan Daniel or Zachary Ryan. I like the first names, but I'm not sure about the pairings with the middle names. Notice how Brendan ends in "dan" and Daniel starts in "dan." And Zachary ends in "ry" and Ryan starts in "ry." My DH says that makes the names flow. I'm not convinced. I'm considering Zachary Noah in honor of someone, but DH isn't too keen on Noah. I also kind of feel like I have to see DS before I name him. Brendan means "little raven" and it's very possible that this kid is going to have very blond hair-not that that matters a whole lot... So anyway, this poor kid just isn't going to have a name.

I put mine in the mail today. :) I can't wait to see what everyone gets:) What fun!!
Nikki--I saw the pics of your nursery on the "nursery decor" thread. So cute! Plus I can't believe how finished it looks--complete with knick-knacks and everything. Glad that you are feeling better and they got the contractions stopped. I know it must be scary.
randysmandy I have that same bathing suit! I love Old Navy :) You look great (No, I will not be posting any swimsuit shots anytime soon! )
wildcat You look so cute! I like the color you used in the nursery--can't wait to see more. I also can't believe you have so much stuff in your closet already! AAAKKK I need to get busy!
We still have so much stuff to buy! I am having a shower on the 6th of August, but I hate to wait! My friends keep asking what I want, but I just don't know what to tell them! I think my two good friends want to go in on a "big" gift, but what??
I did wash the few clothes I have this weekend. We also finished painting this old armiore we had. I'm really pleased with how it turned out--especially since I had DH do it (oil based paint). He even did a good job with the antiquing. I just hope it goes with the new furniture we bought. I hope to be able to post nursery pictures soon.
I'm on the look out for a red cover for my boppy pillow if anyone sees one, could you give me a heads up? My BRU didn't have one.
Are you guys doing Kegels and other exercises? I've been trying but what a pain! My bradley class has me squatting a lot too, which is not comfortable! But I guess I better do it--or it will be really uncomfortable later :p My hubby has been pretty good about doing the relaxation "exercises" with me, which has been nice.
Is anyone else have trouble putting on their shoes? I am wearing some with ankle straps today and it was all I could do to get down there to buckle them! I kept cracking myself up! :D I'm so glad no one else could see me.
I can't believe we are getting so close! I mean I hit 30 weeks tomorrow, which means in 6 weeks we will be on full alert! AAAKKKK! Exciting and scary all at the same time.

Quick drive-by post!
WYWO is going okay. My helpers showed up, but DS isn't cooperating so one helper is spending all her time with him, leaving me with her moody boyfriend! I ran out of painter's tape, then out of paint! So far, it's been a lot like an episode of the show! I only have 3 more hours and I'm waiting on paint. I still need to cut a table in half and paint the halves and mount them!
Shoes - I live in my slipon's at this point, except for work. I'm sure ppl would die laughing if they saw me try to get my work boots on in the mornings! I can't bend over and get around this big ole belly!!
We finally did a bit of baby shopping! I got my "nursing" chair. I already have a rocker, so I got this huge overstuffed chaise type so I can just lay back in its arms, stretch my legs out, and relax. It's sweet. We managed to find a few winter things on clearance and picked up his winter outerwear for pretty darn cheap. BRU was also having a lovely sale on diapers so we went ahead and stocked up on size 1, 2, 3, and 4. (DS is in 4's, no we're not stocking that far ahead!).
Hope ya'll are having a great 4th! I can't wait to cook out tonight and relax!

Hi, Chicas, it's "AndreaM." (changed my user name over here to reflect my married initials).
So this is our new place, eh? (looking around...) Nice! Hang some pictures on the wall, bring in a plant or two, and it should feel like home!
I had a test on Friday - very much like the level II ultrasound - to see how the baby is growing since my nutrition level has obviously sucked over the last six months. Thankfully she is right on target at 2 pounds, 2 ounces. Rich and I are thrilled! She is breech at the moment, but the tech said she's got plenty of time to flip over.
And more happy news - I've felt almost...dare I say it...NORMAL for the last four days! Barely any nausea! I'm so happy I could weep - I can't BEGIN to tell you how wonderful it feels to really enjoy feeling pregnant for the first time!
I hope everyone has a great 4th!

glad to hear things are OK nikki, how scary.
andrea, so glad to hear you are feeling more normal!
Everyone's getting moving on their nursery, they all look so great. I wish we were too but we are dealing with a minor kitchen re-do and an exterior face lift (roof, siding, shutters, lights, etc.). It's been really stressful and such a pain. I can't wait until it's all done and we can get moving on the nursery. I'm getting so incredibly antsy.
shoes - I had to put on some sneakers yesterday and seriously could not figure how to get down there to tie them! I've been living in slip-ons too.
exercises - I'm trying to remember to do the kegels... and the squatting. My yoga teacher says we should do the squats 2x per day.
We found our doula and I'm really excited. She is wonderful and we'll be starting birth classes with her in two weeks. We are doing a "birthing from within" mini course with her and the regular hospital class. We are taking our hospital tour this week too. Suddenly things are really starting to move forward! I feel like the next few months are just going to fly by so fast.

Happy Fourth to everyone! DH and I just got back from our cabin. We ended up going really late on Saturday night because we were finishing the electrical. I was hammering away for 8 hours on Saturday. My arms and legs (up and down a ladder) are so sore.
Wildcat - Yeah for getting so much done. I can't wait to start painting.
Randysmandy - can you just tell the hospital that you only want the two of you in there and let them tell your mother/grandmother they can't come in during delivery? I've heard that you should make the nursing staff the bad guy and they don't mind. Worth a try.....
AndreaM - so glad you are feeling "normal", hope it continues.
Names - I think we may have settled on one this weekend. We were still going back and forth on naming her Samantha (since that is the dog's name). I just can't do it, my dog should be around for another 6-7 years and that is just too long to have them the same name. I'm pretty sure we are going with Aimee Jean (mother and MIL middle name). That's what I'll start thinking of her as and then confirm it when she is born. I hope it fits.
I hope my doc gets the results of my 3 hour tomorrow. I have to say, I ate a ton of sweets this weekend (really bad) thinking that if I fail, I'll have to cut them out, so I went on a binge - isn't that horrible?

Yay CC's back!
I did waaaay too much yesterday! I am so tired and I ACHE like never before from going up and down the stairs six hundred times! I moved furniture, painted, sawed, nailed, etc. Broke about 12 rules of pregnancy, but the room looks so much better! I'm definitely paying for it though. I could barely walk by the end of the day and today it's not so easy!
Tomorrow I go for my 4d u/s!! i'm so excited! Tomorrow is also the day DH meets with his doctor to discuss the results of his MRA thingy to see what's up with this mass in his throat. I'm pretty worried about that. :(
I also have a feeling that I failed my Diabetes test. They said they wouldn't call unless there was a problem with the results. They called this morning and just left a message to call them back about my labs. I called back and they're busy so I'm waiting on them to call again. But since that's what they had said before, I bet I failed it. I'm totally not happy about that.
For those who did the 3 hour, what exactly do they do? do you have to fast?
My boss is gonna beat me for needing half a day off for a frigging test!
Visitors - Gonna just be DH and my mom for labor and delivery. Depending on how long they suggest we stay in the hospital, I might have DS brought up the next day to see his new bro. Other than that, I don't want any visitors in the hospital. Luckily we have little chance of that as DH's family lives just far enough away that they likely won't come, and 2 of them are due around the same time so probably wouldn't risk traveling too far from their hospitals. The rest of my family lives states and states away.

hisdaffodil - sounds like you did do way too much this weekend. Seems like many of us are saying that these days, I guess we are feeling the pressure of the little ones arriving and not being ready!
I had to take the 3 hour on Friday. When I got there, they drew my blood, then I drank the same drink as before. Then they drew my blood three more times on the hour for a total of a three hour test. I had to fast 8 hours prior and of course the 3 hours of the test. The drink is a little harder to swallow on an empty stomach, but still not horrible. They did draw four separate needles, I thought they might put in a line and draw from it each time, but they punctured four times, which seems unfair......
Sending good thoughts your way for your DH's news tomorrow.

Well nevermind the 3 hour test. I finally got the call back from the nurse. She said my blood tested at 391 and they didn't like to see over 140. She didn't even suggest the 3 hour test, just flat out said I had Gestational Diabetes. I'm in shock. I didn't have it the first time, which surprised her, and I totally didn't think I would this time. She wants me to see a specialist to put me on insulin! My baby book didn't say too much about GD so I'm off to the book store to look it up. I'm terrified of a big baby, so this was not good news at all.

hisdaffodil - I'm so sorry to hear about your glucose results:(. At least now you know and can get it under control! Let us know how your appt with the specialist goes.
Speaking of glucose results, I got mine back today from the 1hr scan and I passed! They told me normal was 60 - 130 and I scored an 84. I was pretty worried because I have such a sweet tooth, but I've really kept that under control the last month or so, not that I know if it really helps or not!
Our 3d/4d scan is Thursday, I can't wait!!
Oh - and nesting is definitely here with a vengence! After working all day, I came home, started a load of laundry, cleaned up all the fireworks off the deck and started on the yard when DH got home and finished. So I went inside and cleaned the kitchen, did dishes, vacuumed and then we ran an errand! All that was in 1 and 1/2 hours!! Hopefully this continues for the next 11 weeks, I love a clean house!:)

I'll try to write this as I remember it but all of this has been such a blur - it happened so fast - I swear we are going to wake up and find out this was just a bad dream.
Thursday morning I had a doctor's appt. I complained about a lot of achey pains in my right ovary but he laughed at me and told me it was "ligament pain". I had also noticed that my belly had dropped significantly. Anyway, other than all that I felt ok and was just annoyed that the doctor didn't offer me any sympathy. Thursday evening, I was getting Jake ready for bed and I started having a few contractions around 6:30 pm. I didn't think too much of it as I often had contractions when I was sitting on the ground. Around 7 pm they started coming more regularly. I put Jake to bed and the contractions were getting stronger. DH was out so I didn't call anyone thinking they would go away. By the time DH got home around 8 pm the contractions were every 10 minutes and more and more painful. I had DH call the doctor and they told me to go to L&D right away. We dropped Jake off at his daycare provider's house and went to the hospital. They started me on tirbutiline (?sp) right away and even though I thought the contractions were getting better, apparently they weren't on the monitor. By then they were every 3-4 minutes. So then they started me on Magnesium and they started getting stronger again. They checked me for dilation and I was 3-4 cm so they sent me right away by ambulance to Boston. By the time I got there the contractions were only every 20 minutes so I thought I was doing better. When they checked me I was 100% effaced already but still at 4 cm. THe doctor told me I would be in the hospital for the remainder of the pg whether it be 2 days or 3 months. I cried b/c of Jake. As it turns out they had to deliver by c/s 2 hours later b/c I continued to dilate and they couldn't stop the contractions despite all the magnesium. I only got one shot of celestone 8 hours previously and the doctors were trying to hold on for 48 hours so that I could get 3 total to mature the lungs. So I had the babies 13 hours after the contractions started - the babies were 27 wks 3 days.
THe babies cried at delivery but were intubated within minutes. I got to see them for a couple of seconds before they sent them to the NICU. They anticipate they being there until the end of Sept. They are actually doing really well. THe nurses and doctors keep saying that they don't know they are only 27 weeks and think they are older. They also say they act like babies who got the 3 shots of celestone, not just one. They remained on the ventilators for only the first day and now they are both on CPAP. They have lots of spells when the CPAP is out even for a minute so they will be on that for a while. THey started on small amounts of feeds already and they are still getting TPN. I am a pumping fool so hopefully, I'll be able to make enough milk for them. Matt is just under 2.5 pounds now and Sam is just over 2 pounds.
It's been hard b/c I had to leave them in the hospital which I know is the best place for them but still sad. I needed to come home for Jake b/c he was having a very hard time without mama home. Poor guy is so confused. I'll try to post pictures later if I can figure out how to download them. Please keep them in your prayers.

Welcome back Michelle
My trip The trip to Niagara will take 6 1/2 hours. My doctor said as long as we stop every 1-2 hours I should be fine. She didn't seem concerned about me going into labor early. But I have to talk with my other doctor before I make any real decisions. I forgot who mentioned it, but mapping out the hospitals and taking the car seat isn't a bad idea!
This weekend was hectic, but I got alot of sun and swam a bunch. The baby heard his first fireworks and seemed to like them! He is moving SO much lately. My belly looks like jello sometimes when it just jiggles because if the little guy! Sleeping IS becoming more difficult because I can't get comfortable enough.

Mitty - OMG - How exciting and scary all at once. I can't imagine the emotions your family is feeling - so glad to hear the boys are doing well and can't wait to see pictures of them.
Hisdaffodil - so sorry about the GD - wow - 391!!!! I was scared with mine at 168.
I'm still waiting for my results (hopefully today) from my 3-hour. You would think they would have them by now (I took the test on Friday). Maybe I'll call my dr's office in a while and see if they got them back yet.
The drywall is being hung at our house today. I met with a decorator yesterday and we picked paint color for all of the rooms (including Aimee's - I think that's her name, I'm going to start using it here on CC and see how if feels after a month or so).
I'm so bored at work lately. This should be my busy season and for some reason it is slow and that makes the days sooooo long. Oh well, more time to spend on CC and browsing baby websites.

Thanks for sharing your story Mitty. I'll be praying for your family.
In other news, I wish my nesting instinct would take hold. I've never been a "housey" type of person and I'm still not. The baby's room is only sort of set up and there's always laundry to fold and dishes to do. Maybe someday I'll go on a cleaning spree.

mitty - Congratulations on the births of Matt and Sam! They will definately be in my prayers until they are home safe and sound, but it really sounds like that they are doing exceptionally well despite the circumstances. As always, we are ALL here for you if you need to get anything out. Take care sweetie! As you know, I have been having premature contractions a lot lately and your story gives me hope that in the event the worst happens, that Ava will be ok.
hisdaffodil - So sorry to hear about the GD :( That really sucks. I was petrified I had it too before my 3 hr. Take it easy and I will pray for you as well and your family. I can't imagine how stressful this is with what is going on with your DH. Good luck with your 4D!! I am sure seeing that little one's face will definately brighten your current situation.
Brink - Aimee is my little sister's name!!! (Spelled exactly that way!!) FYI her full name is Aimee Colleen. I don't know many people with that spelling! I like your taste (so does my mom!! lol) :)
Well guys, I am off to the OB again today to get checked out. I hope she tells me that my contractions were just from dehydration and everything is looking ok. I really don't want to take this medicine, but if it means Ava gets to cook for a little bit longer, then its worth it. I am 31w4d pregnant, and she has always measured almost 2 full weeks ahead, so techincally I think it would be safe for her to get here at the end of July if need be. As it is, everyone seems doubtful that she had ever planned to stay in there till her due date anyway (considering how big I am already). I would be thrilled if she didn't come until the third or fourth week of August, but I guess she is going to do her own thing. So inpatient, just like her mama. Anyway -- keep me in your thoughts, and hopefully my appt. goes well!
Take Care everyone and get some REST!!! I know its hard with this nesting instinct, but its important for you!! :)

Congratulations Mitty! I am thinking of you and the boys - sounds like they are doing well.. please keep us updated!
Childbirth class last night was fine.. the nurse talked a lot about labor - what signs to look for, etc.. there was, of course, a debate over episiotomies, and we starting some breathing. Next week we watch a movie, and the third week is breastfeeding, etc.

Had my appointment today. The dr was out delivering a baby, so I had to the see the NP. Everything looked good. I got a 93 on my glucose test, but my hemoglobin was low. Anybody know what that means? I plan to google it when I get a chance.
my next appointment is July 20
Here's my 29 week belly shot. It's kinda funny b/c the NP said, wow you've already dropped and I was like no, I've been carrying this low the entire time!

I had my appointment today - everything is fine and measuring as it should. My next appointment is July 20th. I am scheduled for a group labor class on the 25th where they go over the signs of labor and when to call/go to the hospital. I am seriously hoping to go early - I am miserable.
Trip to the beach was nice however, I wanted to be home in my own bed. And, I missed my dog!
Sabre - Great photo. You are so cute!
philnikki - so sorry about the contractions! You, DH, and Ava will be in my thoughts...although I am sure everything will be fine.
Brink - I will keep my fingers crossed that you pass the three hour test. I love the name Aimee...really cute!
randysmandy - glad to hear you got the OK to travel. Taking the carseat and mapping out hospitals sounds like a great plan - better to be too prepared than not prepared at all!
Dettes - not sure if you are here or WC...thank you so much for the ducky bath set - the robe and slippers are absolutely ADORABLE....I can't wait to put the baby in the cute litte get up! I will post over on WC also.
Nesting - Yes, I have been nesting like crazy and hear it will probably get worse. I have also painted the entire upstairs with the exception of one room which I hope to have done this week. The other night, DH thought I was NUTS because I decided to take apart and scrub the washer and dryer at midnight - everything was so dusty I couldn't take it anymore. I also have this fear that MIL will come when the baby arrives and criticize my dirty house and make fun of me behind my back, which she loves to do.
MIL is driving me INSANE...I won't even go into the cr*p she pulled during our weekend away - but I will say she tried everything to ruin our weekend away. She is just a miserable person, and wants everyone else around her to be miserable. I worry constantly that she will be a black cloud hanging over us during the birth/bringing the baby home/maternaty leave. If she isn't the center of attention or there isn't some sort of crisis, she isn't happy. This Friday she is having surgery for the 6th time in 5 years and has already made it clear that she doesn't know if she will be able to make it to my mom's shower on Sunday. I am sure she will find some way to try and ruin it for all of us.

I PASSED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm so happy - I passed my 3-hour test. They are sending me the results, but bottom line is I passed.
Thanks for the compliments on Aimee. I think it will fit her well.
Cr8zyforaf - sorry about the MIL. You sound like a strong person, you'll probably need it with her in the coming months!
Anyway - off to a meeting, but wanted to let you know I passed. (maybe I'll have something sweet tonight to celebrate!)

Hey Guys!!
Back from my OB. Here is the low down. She definately wants me to stay on the Procardia. She didn't really have an explanation for the contractions, but she says pregnancy isn't really an exact science and these things just happen. She said that my goal now is to keep Ava in there for the nxt two weeks at least. At 34 weeks they can deliver her at my hospital and she has every reason to beleive that there would be no problem with her developmentally. If something happens before that, she said I will need to go to Pittsburgh or Morgantown (we are closer to Pittsburgh, so that is where we would go). She said that the baby appears to have turned based on where she heard her heartbeat at, and that they want to scan me again at 36 weeks to be certain. She said that is my next goal. If I make to 36 weeks, they typically will not stop active labor at that point. She said that 38 weeks is my final goal, in that after 38-39.5 weeks is when they would talk about inducing me. So it looks like I am nearing the point where everything is going to be ok, even if I continue with these contractions. I was measuring only a 1/2 cm ahead this time (at 32 weeks) so I am measuring about right on where I should be. She told me that I lost weight from last time, but that was probably a result in the fact that I am resting now (meaning less water retention) and that I got so sick and was not eating as much. All in all, a pretty good report, in my opinion. Now all I have to do is start a new job in the middle of all of this...hmmm...I sure like to make life harder on myself, don't I? ;) lol
cr8zyforaf - I TOTALLY sympathize with you. I have one MIL who has been trying to make this baby about her the entire time. I have another one (cause I am one of those lucky gals who gets blessed with two, one step, one bio) who is totally intruding on my personal space and is just plopping herself in our home after the baby comes indefinately. Let me just say, I hear ya, and we should totally form a club ;) lol
Sabre - Cute belly shot!! I will update it in the main page info tomorrow morning unless wildcat beats me to it ;) lol

cr8zyforaf - ugh! your mil situation sounds pretty bad. Mine is mostly absent & I think that works best for everyone... not sure what will happen after the birth.... as for the nesting - I keep waiting for this to kick in! I may be waiting a *long* time though, I'm not much of a housekeeper as it is!!
Brink - congratulations!! what a relief! I am not taking my first test for about 3 more weeks, but you girls have me nervous!!
nikki - that is amazing!! I am so happy that you are almost "in the clear" so to speak.
We scheduled our 4D ultrasound for this sunday!! It was somewhat impulsive, but I think it will be great... for the girls who have done this, was it everything you expected it to be?? I don't want to get my hopes up too high....

We had our 4D yesterday! It was so exciting! We could see him open his eyes, yawning, teething on the umbilical cord (eeew), and smiling. It was great! We got some decent shots, and the video, but they didn't get any head-on of the face because of his position. So we get to go back on Monday free, to get more pics and video. And we get to keep going back until they get us some good shots! :) I'm definitely glad we did it. My boy (which was confirmed and very definite!) has a good chin on him, and looks to have his Mommy's nose. He has some hair, and weighed in at 3lbs 3oz already!
DH's appt was inconclusive. He goes in for a CT on Wed. All we know so far is that it's a tumor of some nature and they will have to operate to remove it at some point.
I have an appointment with the sugar specialist on Monday, July 11th and another u/s that day too. I think I might request the 3 hour test. Dh's sister said hers were really high like mine with her last two babies, but she passed the 3 hour fine. I just can't believe I have GD.
Congrats on passing Brink!!
Sabre - Totally cute belly! How adorable!!
Nikki - hang in there!
Oh! and I think we may have picked a name (or changed our minds yet again!). Now we're thinking James Dorian P......
Our first son's name is Emerson, and we thought it'd be neat to keep a literary reference, and I'm big on a kid having at least one of his names be his own (whereas our previous picked name was all borrowed from relatives!). Not certain on it yet, but it jumped out at us from the baby books yesterday.
Ya'll have a good day!!

I don't have the time for SO's right at the moment, but I did want to just post these picture posting guidelines for Mitty :
Posting Pictures
In order to post pictures on these boards, the pictures must be online. For personal photos, they need to be in an online album such as Snapfish or Shutterfly.
1)Once you have your photos uploaded, open the picture you want to post.
2)Right click on the picture (the full-sized picture, not the thumbnail) and click “Properties.” (On a Mac, CTRL-click or click-and-hold.)
3)Right click on the URL and click “Select All.” This ensures you get the entire URL. Some URLs are longer than show up in the properties box.
4)Right click on the selected URL and hit “Copy.”
5)Come back to your post and a) click the little icon that looks like a mountain and paste your URL into the box that pops up or b) paste the url into the message and place [*IMG] at the very beginning and [*/IMG] at the very end. (Minus the * though)
6)Submit your post.
*A note for those who also use LJ-If you are looking for a hosting site that is compatable with both CC and LJ, try www.flickr.com or www.photbucket.com.
I host my pics at Shutterfly and it works great.

Wow! Mittyrd - your boys are beautiful.
It's still hard for me to picture that there is really a little baby inside my belly. Those shots really make me realize that our little Aimee is probably about that same size and stage of development. Makes her seem more real.

Aww mittyrd thank you for sharing. They look like they are doing great! I will also continue to pray for them.
I have my next appointment on July 13. I pre-registered online yesterday for the hospital and DH and I are taking a tour of the L&D on Saturday :D I am really happy that my baby is going to be here and my DH keeps saying I just can't wait to see what "it" looks like. I think it is soo surreal to him you know. This morning my stomach was jumping all over the place it was soo cute and dh was saying to my belly "Let meeeeeee out!" I was just laughing. One of the body parts stays under my right breast while I am in a sitting position. As for names I have not said anythign here because I got kinda upset with my grandmother very early on in my pregnancy about the name I had chosen for a boy. The name was Dorrian Elijah P....... In which my grandmother said that people were going to look at my baby and be remembered about the movie/book "The portrait of Dorrian Grey" sooo needless to say I told everyone that they were going to find out the name when he or she was born. I already have a girl name chosen even though I think the baby is a boy. I have another boy name that my hubby likes and so we may chose this one so I don't keep thinking about what my grandmother said. That was a great thing for her to say to a pregnant woman huh
How are we going to do the buddy system?

Thanks for sharing Mitty! They look great!
Hey, girls, I'm a little confused - are most of y'all posting in both sites? I guess I'll do that until I figure it out....
I saw my doctor yesterday, and I'm a little worried - she told me that while yes, my baby girl IS measuring within a normal range, she's at the very low end of normal - 22nd percentile (which means that about 80% of babies weigh more at this point in a pregnancy). I'm going to have to go get another level II ultrasound in three weeks to make sure that she's growing. It's ok for her to be small (the doc is guessing that if all goes well she'll be between 5-6 pounds at full-term birth), but she does have to follow a growth pattern or else they will have to induce me early to give her the nutrition she would need. This all has to do with the stupid hyperemesis. Please send good growth wishes for her...

Mitty - The boys are adorable! Thank you for sharing their photos. We are all sending "baby growing dust" your way. How are you holding up? Is Jake doing ok? We are all thinking about you!
Andrea - Sending your little good growth wishes too. You sound concerned (for obvious reasons!) - try and stay positive.
Beachbum - I am doing the Hypnobabies homes study. I am still on week 1 and there are five weeks of lessons. The book has a lot of information in it and they ask that you just do one "lesson" or week at a time so you really absorb the contents. Makes sense since it is a mind thing :) The home course was $120. It is really interesting so far - I can say that after I complete a session I feel extremely relaxed and very mellow and that is what my goal is for birth day.
Brink - Congrats on passing the 3 hour :) I love the name Aimee too :) How is your pup doing? Hope she is feeling better.
Hope everyone is doing ok. Things are pretty mellow around here. I have been feeling really good despite the achey hips and being tired. I really think going to the chiropractor has been a god send. It's amazing how much more energy you have without a sore back! I still haven't heard the results of my 1 hr - I am assuming no news is good news. I think I will call tomorrow to be sure.
Is anyone else extremely thirsty these days? I mean I know that we should be more thirsty then normal but I can't drink enough water...it's insane and
should almost be illegal!!
So glad tomorow is Friday :)

mitty - The boys are adorable!! I hope you and your family are holding up ok. Post updates when you can!
Andrea - Well, SOME baby has to be at 20%, right?=) My manager's daughter is in the 10% for height/weight (she's 15months), and the dr. has her on a higher calorie diet (adding carnation instant breakfast to her milk), but she's totally fine developmentally, she's just petite! So maybe your little girl wil just be petite! Try not to worry too much!
We had our 3d/4d ultrasound done today and it was amazing!! The baby was sleeping most of the time and we tried everything to wake him/her up (chocolate, juice, poking, etc), but nothing worked! So we didn't get to see much movement, but we got really cute profile pictures!! Everything looked great! The heartbeat was 141, the baby was head down, with its back curled on my right side and feet up at the top of my belly (like a big C), my placenta appears to have moved up (was low-lying at my 16week scan, so I’m really excited it looks like we'll get to try for a vaginal birth...I have another u/s at the dr. in 3 weeks, so I'll know for sure then), the baby has 2 arms/hands and 2 legs/feet (haha) and no cleft lip! And no, we still don’t know if the baby is a boy or girl! =) Here are a few of the pictures!

AndreaM - grow baby grow!
Jo&sean - thanks for the congrats. My girl (dog) is doing better but still not great. She can breathe easier than she could a week ago, but definitely still stuffed up. Now I'm wondering if it might be allergies. I think if she is still bad next week I'm going to request they check her for that before we move to a specialist and have her nasal passage checked again with scope. Thanks for asking. How is your nursery coming along? We are working on the sheetrock now and hope to be doing texture next week.
Wildat - Congrats on the movement of the placenta. So, can you come off the pelvic rest or do you have to wait for the official from your doctor? My DH and I are still resting away - can't wait until they check mine (not for another 6 weeks!).
3D/4D - we got one at the specialist office a while back, but they wouldn't let us tape it and we only got the one picture. Does anyone know of a place in Northern California we could go to have the more detailed stuff done?

Well it's Friday everyone! Hope all is well with you guys. I start my new job on Monday. It has been nice being at home so I hope I can jump back into the swing of things without too much difficulty. I had to make my appointment yesterday for my epidural screening. It will be August 3. At my hopsital, you actually have to watch a video and talk to the anathesioligist before you can get one. If you don't do the screening, they won't administer the epi. Anyone else's hospital like that?? Ava and I are doing great. Still have lots of lower back pain and still feeling some contractions through the medication, but they are not at all consistent, so that is good. Ava is just moving like a wild baby as usual :)
On to SO's
Mitty - Your little boys are so adorable! They look like they are doing really well. Please keep us posted. And take care of yourself now too. You are bound to just be beat.
Cr8nme - Good job for pre-registering. I can tell you that both times I had to go to L&D with these darn contractions, the very LAST thing I wanted to talk about was my personal info and insurance information.
AndreaMMS - I agree with wildcat, some baby has to be in the lower percentage to make this world the place it is! I would be scared too, but I think everything has worked out to this point, so there is no reason to start thinking the worst now. Only a little more time left and then she will be here in your arms and you will be able to forget this whole thing. Think positive and we will all be praying for her to grow, grow, grow!!!
jo&sean - I hear ya on the thirstiness! DH calls me a water buffalo because of it. I have one of those 64 oz jugs (all the water your supposed to have in one day) I typically finish off at least two!! 128 oz a day!!
wildcat - What a beatiful little surprise you have in there!!! Too bad he/she was sleeping the whole time. Still great pictures though. I felt the exact same way you did when I saw Ava's face for the first time on the 4D...just total love. It was so awesome to see her playing with her little toes and just smiling. So great :) And yeah on your placenta moving up!!!
Take Care ladies!!!

Thanks for all the MIL support....sounds like many of you have the same issues. She is having her 6th surgery today - and I am sure she will find some way to make my shower miserable this Sunday. She is already insisting that DH and I come sit with her all day tomorrow because she is convinced she is going to need a ton of help - I had a lump removed from my breast last year and was out and about the following day - I wish she would stop being so dramatic!
I am so excited - so much has been purchased off of my registry - I can't wait to put it in the nursery and play with everything!! Shower is Sunday at 1PM at my moms house - and so far out of the 50 people invited, only 4 cannot come!
philnikki - so glad you are feeling better. Keeping my fingers crossed that little Ava stays put for a few more weeks! I do not have to go in for an epi screening - all I have to do is pre-register a month before due date - which is rapidly approaching  .
Brink - so glad to hear the puppy is doing better - we had to go through all of those tests - I think the last thing we did was a throat wash (they thought he might have a collapsing trachea which he didn't, thank god). He has allergies but not too bad. He is on some medication but I can't remember the name of it.
wildcat - your pictures are amazing. Wow...baby is so cute!! My guess is a boy...to me the bean looks like a little boy. Yeah for the placenta moving up -that is GREAT news!!
jo&sean - I am also extremely thirsty all the time. DH cannot believe the amount of water I consume...which of course, keeps me up all night running to the bathroom every 45 minutes....what I wouldn't give for a full nights rest - I guess those days are long behind me  . I would also assume that no news is good news on the test - I passed mine and didn't hear anything until my following appointment two weeks after I took it.
AndreaMMS- sending growth vibes your way. I agree with everyone else - some babies have to be on the small end. Nothing wrong with a petite little girl. My friend also measured behind and had her son a month early - he is now a month old and is perfectly fine, even if he is tiny. Try not to worry (I know, easier said than done).

I want to get a 3d/4d ultrasound soo bad! May i ask everyone how much you are paying to get them done?
Jo&Sean~ I am drinking a ton of water! Like all day and I too am up all night. I can't get enough! Here is a tip if you put a little lemon on your water you won't use the bathroom as much. Something about citrus!
Well it think my depression is over and ocme to terms that I am in Arizona all by myself. I am going to target today to buy more things for the baby. I have gotten a few gifts. Which will help out a lot. I have a little list written up for what I have to get today. I have a little shelf in the linen closet just for the baby that has all of the wash clothes and stuff. The nursery isn't even started because it has been side curbed with all my other home renovations. What renovations you ask. Well my great room, kitchen, and hallways consisted of 1000 sq. feet of tile that had to be laid, the kitchen and hallways already had tile which had to be torn out  both the hall bath and the master bath are being gutted and completely redone. New tub and toilet in the hall bath along with sinks and faucets and new mirrors whew!
The master bath is getting a new toilet, pedestal sink and new floor tile/shower tile. The kitchen is not done because the new cabinets have to be ordered along with countertops. New dishwasher and stove and microwave! What still has to be done the master bath, the tub in the hall bath and the kitchen cabinets and countertops! So my little baby is coming home to a brand new house! I think thats about it. I was really down when I kept seeing everyone else nursery done but mine will get there it just might not be until a month after the baby is born. I have already picked out furniture and everything so it will be just a matter of ordering it.

Happy Friday!
Mitty-Your babies are SO cute! It also makes me realize what is moving inside of me everyday!
Nikki-Good luck Monday and hang in there with the contractions and back pain. I am praying Ava will make it for 2 more weeks +
wildcat-So cute.....do you looks at the pics and try to figure out if the baby looks like a boy/girl??
The baby is moving SO much now. He actually wakes me up in the middle of the night and today at work I had to get up and walk around because he was kicking my ribs! But when he is not moving I get worried!! He didn't move an antire morning and DH was worried, but by 1:30 he was a lively little bug again. I guess he was just tired.
We start our Baby classes on Monday and then CPR classes 8/11...can't wait!
The nursery is COMPLETE! We only need to wait for the shower (7/24) for the rest of the stuff (ie:bedding and curtains) We LOVE IT! I hope you all do too!

Happy Friday!
3D/4D - thanks so much pixiecat, I called and made our appointment for next Saturday (7/16). I can't wait! I will look forward to hearing about how your appointment went. For Cr8nme - it looks like the packages run between $99 - $225 depending upon how many pictures you get and how long the video is. Even if you don't live in CA, I recommend going to the site that pixiecat referenced. It will give you an idea of what is out there.
cr8zyforaf - interesting what you said about the allergies. I talked to my vet this morning and told him that she is getting better but not all the way and suggested maybe she had allergies. He said "dogs don't get respitory allergies like people, their allergies are more skin related". He said that it's not impossible, but very rare and pretty much dismissed my suggestion. Maybe I should find another vet?
Cr8nme - I completely feel for you on the remodel. We completely gutted half of our house and are just now putting up the drywall in the following: 1/2 bath, dining room, kitchen, family room, nursery, guest room and hallway. We also have a long way to go, but at least I have seen progress in the last few days. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.
randysmandy - Your nursery is really beautiful. Did you do all the painting yourself? It's really impressive.

Brink Thank you! Yes we did all the painting ourselves. DH did the painting in the doorway and I did the others. In college I minored in Art and he has had a hidden talent for years!
As far as your dog goes......I have heard of skin allergies, but if you are not comfortable with your vet I would get a second opinion! My dog (14 years old) went to the vet yesterday to get checked out. We aren't sure if it is time to put him to sleep. Well the vet said he was doing well. This morning my mom woke up to poop all around the house with blood in it. :( The poor thing. I guess vets just don't know sometimes. Or it was my dog's way of telling us that "yes it is my time to go" I am SO sad today....I feel your pain.

Thanks for all the compliments on our 3d pics! We think he/she is pretty cute too! EVERYONE today h as been asking us, do you think the baby looks like a girl or boy? To me, you put a baby in a diaper and I have no idea what the gender of the baby is, let alone trying to guess on a 3d image!
It's DH's birthday today, so we left work a little early and went to a movie, War of the Worlds, it was ok. I saw Batman yesterday during work (team builder thing) and I think it was better. It's kinda funny, because usually I don't even go to the movie theater twice in a year, let alone twice in 2 days! We're going to go to dinner later, and then I think he's going to go ride with the guys (motorcycles) and I'm going to bake his cake (didn't have time last night, birthday dinner with his dad). Then we have our birth class all day tomorrow, I can't wait!! I need to prepare my list of questions tonight:).
Cr8nme - The package we went with was $175...but they ranged where we went from $150 - $200, depending on what you wanted. For $175, we got 20 mins of scanning (but was really like 45) including both 2d and 3d, all on VHS and DVD, 20-25 still images (3d) on CD-ROM, 4 4x4 thermal images, and 2 5x7's. It's kinda pricey, but the way I look at it is, I only have a few chances in my lifetime to have them done, why not? I can't wait to see the baby when it's here and compare the baby to the 3d pics!

Quick post to respond to the 4D thing
Our package cost 100 bucks. There was no time limit, plus we get to go back again because they didn't get enough shots to satisfy them! We got a VHS of the whole thing, plus they'll add to it when we go back Monday. And we got about 10 pictures, half color, half b/w, which we'll get more of next time too. I'm pretty darn glad we went with it. Being our 2nd baby, it was something unique that helped make this one just a little more special. Plus it gives us plenty for his baby book and future, whereas with our gender u/s all we got was a pic of his feet and his balls.

Well it's 3am ladies, and here I am on CC because I can't fall back asleep  Phil had to go into work this morning at 2:30 and when he woke up, that was all she wrote for me ;) lol
wildcat - Happy Birthday to your DH! Yet another thing we have in common...my Dh's birthday is also in July!! This year is his 30th and we just sent out the invitations to a party at our development's clubhouse (there is a pool) Going to be interesting for me trying to plan this party and be this pregnant all at oince ;) lol
4D u/s - So glad that this something that I just get as a part of the normal process with my OB, because there is really nothing like what you guys are talking about (independent companies) over in this area. Because Ava was still breech at 31 weeks, there are going to scan me again at 36 to check on her position again, so yearh, another 4D :)
Just checking, but I am not sure if any of you (or your loved ones) are going to be in the path of this Hurricane, but PLEASE be safe and know that you are in my prayers for the next few days! My MIL lives in Montgomery, AL so DH and I are concerned for her, and when IVan came through last september (this storm is following almost an identical path) it caused MAJOR flooding in my area (my parents were flooded out of there house). So I just wanted to send those prayers out there.
Well, off to read more threads....hopefully Iwill fall asleep soon ;) lol

Hey Ladies!
I am soo tired but can't fall asleep I just finished watching a movie and I was crying like a baby. I think my baby is trying to turn I keep feel the Butt poking out :p
Dh and I had our hospital tour today and that went soo well. They do everything in the room except circumcision for the baby and you deliver and recover int he same room. The rooms are really nice. They have a whirlpool and tons of stuff you can use while in labor. The baby NEVER leaves the room which I am happy about. All in all that was good and we were pleased. They even have al ittle galley kitchen where they keep the ice chips, crackers, peanut butter, ect for while you are in labor. They just ask that you don't get full just snack. I am praying that I can have a vaginal delivery. Anyhoo I opened a journal here and think my days over on the other board are just about over.

I am definitely ready too. DS was born at 37 weeks. So I keep teasing myself that I've only got 7 more weeks to go instead of 10. I know it's for the best to make it longer, but I'm despairing of it taking that long! I'm trying to keep my weeks filled up and busy so that they seem to go faster.
Soon, girls! After all, we have our first babies already! There's hope for us yet! :D
Our repeat 4D is tomorrow at lunch! Then Tuesday I meet with the specialist about my sugar levels. I totally think the test was bogus. I've been testing my blood all weekend at their request. It never gets above 110! And I've totally not changed my diet. After a dinner of carbs, ice cream, and a soda, my sugar was only 92. I'm confused.
I can't wait to see the baby tomorrow!!
We finally got a crib, just a Jinny Lind but it'll do for us. We're graduating DS to a twin size next week since he moves so much in his sleep that he falls out of his little toddler size one, rails or not. Since we decided to crib, I finally get to think about bedding, whee!
Hope everyone's feeling well and healthy, if uncomfy, tired, and huge!

I too am not feeling well these days. I am naucious this morning, which is not like me since I have had NO sickness since being pregrnant. The baby woke me up really early and was poking his bum or knee out SO much. This entire weekend my lower belly and legs kill so much at times that I don't want to stand up straight. It didn't help that I washed my car inside and out in 90 degree heat yesterday! Luckily I have Lamaz tonight and my 2 week appointment tomorrow night. We are headed to Niagara Falls Friday (My 25th birthday's Monday!) so I am hoping that everything is normal.
I found that swimming REALLY helps the hurt though!
How many weeks am I going to be when they do an internal? Just curious.
Hang in there ladies...not too much longer compared to how long we have been pregnant for!!
Mitty-Thinking about your boys.
Nikki-Hope you and the baby are feeling well.

Alot of the time, when they do the B Strep test at 35/36 weeks, they'll go ahead and do an internal since they're already down there. From my experience they won't check you again unless you tell them you've been contracting.

I am 32 weeks today!!
I am with most of you ladies - I feel so ready to have this over with...I am starting to feel so much pressure and I am running to the bathroom every 30 minutes only to have a few drips come out and feel no relief.
Brink - if you are not happy with your doctor, I would suggest getting a second opinion. Our vet did a lot of tests to rule out other things before deciding on allergies (I should mention that we never did go to a specialist to get him tested). Once all the tests came back, they put him on this medicine for allergies and it seems to make him better. I don't give it to him very frequently because it makes him loopy. I think it is allergies because it seems seasonal (his bad time is the summer) - his eyes get gooey, he sneezes a lot and sometimes seems like he is coughing and his ears need a ton of attention because they get all red and stinky...this only happens for a few months out of the year. He doesn't seem to itch more or chew his feet (which is a sign of skin allergies) it is mostly respiratory.
Randysmandy - I am so sorry about your pooch. Please keep us posted. I can't imagine what a hard decision that must be. You and your family are in my thoughts. Sorry you are not feeling well - it may have something to do with being out in the heat washing your car.
Cr8nme - so sorry you are not feeling well - I feel your pain. I am also feeling like cr*p these days.
hisdaffodil - I've also got myself convinced that this baby will be here by the end of August. I can't imagine getting any bigger or uncomfortable.
You ladies getting the 4D ultrasounds are so lucky! I don't think we have any places around us that do them.
My first shower was yesterday, it was very nice and I got a ton of stuff. One thing really irratated me - there were about 60 people invited and about 35 showed up - ONLY 5 PEOPLE had the courtesy to call and tell my mom that they weren't coming- we had way too much food and my mom ended up wasting a lot of money. What is with people?
randysmandy
07-11-2005, 10:07 AM
Only one person has called my mom to regret (my shower is next Sunday) and she knows that at least 6 people can't come (they live too far away) You would think they would call her and tell here they can't make it though. I also know that my friend has not called and she is unable to go...I don't know what is up with people. They aren't considerate or aware of the consequences...looks like my mom should plan on having take out containers for all the leftovers!

My babe gets the hiccups at least 3 times daily...more more enjoyable than the big honkin kicks she's been doing as of late too. Must be getting cramped in there :D
Sorry for being stupid...what's the strep test? How do they do that?
Sabre
07-11-2005, 10:25 AM
I think it's called the Group B Strep Test or something like that! But they just take a long q-tip and swab the inside of the vagina and usually around the anus to check for a bacteria. It doesn't even require a speculum to do it. If you test positive then you have to have a dose of antibiotics when you go into labor.
Cr8nme
07-11-2005, 10:43 AM
Internal ~ My doctor has said that at 36 weeks he will check me and go the Group B strep test and then if I haven't had the babies he will do another internal at 38 weeks to check my cervix. So I get to be checked twice whooo hoooo
After I posted yesterday I couldhardly stand up at times. So much tightening in my stomach and pain in my crotch area. It felt like someone was stabbing me in my vaginal area. My husband kept asking me questions and I just kept saying this really hurts. My baby is officially head down. I am hoping that all of that is not a sign of early labor. I am hoping to keep this baby in until at least the middle of august. In addition to the pain the baby was kicking the crap out of me. I have to say I am truly thakn ful for my baby and the ability to have a child so I am trying not to complain.

Happy Monday!
DH and I went away for the weekend (camping) and had a great time. There was one other pg woman and one that just had a baby 3 months ago. It's nice to hang out with people that are in the same place in life.
Randysmandy - so sorry to hear about your dog. I know ours are part of the family too and making a decision to put them to sleep would kill me. It's hard to weigh the quality of life issue. I hope he took a turn for the better and you aren't facing that decision soon.
Cr8zyforaf - thanks for the info on the vet/allergies. My girl was getting better last week, then her meds ran out and we went camping, where she swam in the lake, and now she is all stuffy again. I think I'll give it at least another week before going to the specialist. They want to put her under again with another scope.
I'm really irritated today. I think I told everyone that my assistant quit a couple of months ago. Well, we extended an offer to someone last week and it didn't work out. Now I have to start the whole process again. We have to re-post and get resumes and interview all over. That is usually a 4-6 week process. Then, if we hire someone, they will have to give 2 weeks. We are talking almost 2 months before the person could start - right about the time I will go out on leave! That means, they won't be trained before I go, so there will be a lot of pressure on me to come back as quick as I can after my 6 weeks. I was hoping to stretch it out and take a few more weeks with Aimee, but I doubt it will happen now. The thing is, people around my office just don't seem to think about how long this process is going to take and there isn't a sense of urgency in hiring someone!!!!! Ugh!
We'll, I'm leaving for the day to go home and meet our designer again about paint colors for the remodel. Then we have our infant safety class tonight. Should be fun.

Hey guys!!
Today was my first day at my new job!! It went really well. Everyone was so nice and they are all so excited about having a pg lady in their department (Finance). They got my furniture rearranged in my office and my computer all set up (I get a new one -- woo hoo!!). Plus, I found out that my boss only bothers to make the remotest of appearances about once every two weeks, so from the looks of things, I get to be pretty much self paced, which is such a nice change of pace :D. The stuff they want me to start off with looks REALLY easy too, so it will be a nice relaxer before Ava gets here. Ah, so nice. :) :) :)
Randysmandy - Ava and I are doing great, thanks for asking. It was a little rougher on my going to work and sitting, but (and I can't beleive I am saying this) luckily I had to pee pretty often and that forced me to get up a lot, so my uterus was not getting so irritated. Yeah, I am also ready for her to arrive, although I know this is the easiest I will have it for awhile ;) lol I got really sick last weekend (when I had to go to L&D) and I typically can't even bear to eat big meals anymore without it making my tummy turn. I wasn't sick in my first trim. either. Isn't motherhood great, lol. Oh, well. She is worth every nauseaous second!
hisdaffodil - Yeah, it sounds like your test might have been seriously messed up! I would totally talk to your dr. about re-doing it! BTW if you are looking for crib beddding now, I would check out Ebay -- I got a great deal on there.
Question - For you second time moms...I have been reading that I shouldn't be leaving my bumper in my crib for fear of SIDS. Did you guys leave yours in??? How long before your baby could even move that far to get near it??? I just am wondering if I should take it out alltogether.
Well ladies, have a great evening!!

Brink - Sorry to hear about your staffing woes. The process of hiring someone is so drawn out...not fun! Hope you doggy is feeling better.
Randysmandy - How is your doggy?
Hope everyone else is doing ok!
Hiccups - Addy gets them a couple of times a day but only every other day or so. It's pretty cute to feel sometimes...other times...not so cute!
Aches & Pains - I hear you guys there! My hips are sooo sore all the time no matter how much I move around. The chiro told me it was going to get worse before it get's better  We drove a lot over the weekend so that didn't help matters. The pressure and feeling like my belly is going to pop at any given moment is also uncomfortable. I am really looking forward to getting MY body back and feeling somewhat "normal" again. Not to say that it isn't worth it but my goodness if these babies only know what they put their mom's through!!

We did a lot of work around the house this weekend. I think the nesting thing is really kicking in! I'm trying to get all the closets in the house cleaned out and organized. (So unlike me!) Plus, we had one spare bedroom that I had all my "crafts" in, so I had to clean all that out to set up the guest room, because the nursery went in the old guest room. So then I had to find a new place for my crafts, which means cleaning out another closet etc etc...Never ending cycle, but it feels good to be getting stuff done.
I'm hosting bookclub this week, so I really want everything to look nice when people come over. There are several women outside of my group of usual friends that haven't been over before. I've got to find something yummy to cook though.
We had our hospital tour on Saturday. Some things made me feel really good (like how small our hospital is and all the personalized care I'll get) and others made me apprehensive. I'm really concerned that my wishes to have a natural L&D may not be respected. I just think it is so outside their comfort zone of normal.
I've tried to walk a few times (I don't feel like I'm gettin enough exercise) but it is so freaking hot outside! I'm really worried about getting dehydrated and starting early labor. On our hospital tour there was someone in there that had done just that, plus a friend did it a few weeks ago. :(
Here are a few nursery pictures...Obviously we still have a accessorising to do.

They are very strict on having the babies wear the hospital clothes wil they go home. We have the official tour in a couple weeks.
After reading some material they gave me I am concerned about getting an epoderal. There are lots of side effects and you can't move once you get one. Im also afraid of going natural. Do you second time moms haev some advice?

Randysmandy: I've had the epidural twice now and it's really not that bad. Of course, I'm really against pain so compared to contractions nothing is that bad. I hardly felt anything when the needle was going in and it is true that you can't move afterwards but at that point you probably don't want to move much anyway.
The boys are doing ok. They had good nights according to the nurse. I'm on my way in to see them now so I'll know more when I get there.

I'm not a second time mom, but I wanted to suggest a book you might enjoy.
It's called The Thinking Woman's Guide to a Better Birth (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0399525173/qid=1121175658/sr=8-1/ref=pd_bbs_ur_1/102-8411410-9976103?v=glance&s=books&n=507846)
It will really lay out a compelling argument for a natural childbirth. There are several other books that tell you how to go about planning for a NCB but this one is a good one for "why".
I plan to go natural. But I certainly understand why people make other choices. To me the most important thing is making an informed decision so you know what you're doing and why.
I don't know many people that have given birth. But of those, about 1/2 of them have had some sort of a problem with the epi, ranging from it wearing off, to no feeling, to a spinal headache. I guess that alone has made me a bit uneasy.
Even if you plan to use an epi, it might be helpful to read about some other types of pain managment techniques just in case circumstances prevent you from having one, or from it being effective.

Beach Bum - Is that the bedding from Land of Nod? I came SO close to getting it - and it looks adorable :)
Mitty - Glad the boys are doing well! Definitely try to update us later today.
Thanks for the compliments on the belly shot - I'm so nervous about weight gain and I have a Dr's appointment today.. actually, more than weight I'm worried she will be concerned about Pre-eclampsia or something - though so far BP and urine has been normal.
Tonight we have our second childbirth class - I believe we're watching "the video" tonight!

Hi Mamas,
I haven't had much time to post lately. DD is not very cooperative when I want to use the computer these days!
Nikki--Regarding bumpers...I think we are in the minority but DD is almost 20 months old and we still use her bumpers. When she first started rolling onto her tummy (around 6 months), we took them out for a few nights because we were worried about SIDS/suffocation because she would squish up against the corner. Took them out for a couple of nights but she really missed her "animal friends" and didn't sleep as well, so we put them back in and figured she was strong enough to get her head up/move away or whatever. I know we should take them out now because she can use them to climb out--but hasn't learned yet! They also make mesh bumpers (from One Step Ahead maybe?) if you are really concerned. We didn't let her have any stuffed animals or blankets in the crib when she was really tiny.
I'm sorry I forget who asked about the epidural...
I had one with DD and even though I had some side effects, I will probably have another for #2. I just don't think I can do it au natural. My main side effect was my blood pressure crashing pretty precipitously when they gave me the epi and then for the next couple of hours. They had to give me a shot of epinephrine and pump me up with fluids repeatedly, which stalled out my labor. It was actually pretty scary. Baby was fine throughout, but I was not.
I talked to my doctor about it and she said I can see how fast this next labor progresses and if I can handle it with no meds or different meds or talk to the anesthesiologist about what happened last time, so they dial down the dose significantly.
I dunno. I am scared about having another epi, but also scared about the pain!

BeachBum - ADORABLE nursery!! So glad you liked the starter set!! I had been meaning to get on here and post about the adorable gift you sent me (A pink onsie with the cutest little green frog on it and a stuffed bunny) Also a HUGE thanks for the fudge and caramel popcorn!! Is that from your own place? It is wonderful!!
randysmandy - We have the same due date too :) The OB said she thought Ava was head down at this last appt., but she still wants to scan me again at 36 weeks since she was breech at my 4d (30 weeks). Also, you are welcome :) I regsitered for the same thing! It's great!! And yeah for it being your first gift!! I feel so honored! :) As far as epi/natural goes, I am also scared about the epi, but I think I am more scared about birth without it. I am in no way, shape, or form a trooper when it comes to pain. Even if the epi doesn't work the way its supposed to, at least I tried. But I can totally understand why someone else would want to go natural as well. I am typically the most paranoid person ever about drugs/side effects etc. Good luck with your decision!!
mitty - Glad the boys are doing great!!

I am going to try to go natural because I have vein issues and everytime I have had an IV I have had to have it changed every 30 minutes or so becuase my veins collapse or they roll. Not only that I just want to give it a try.

I had an epi w/ Hank and was in HEAVEN after they put it in. I had been in labor for what seemed like forever and I needed the relief.
This time I'll just have a spinal block (scheduled C), which is easier than an epi but wears off faster.
No problems w/ my epi at all.

Yes, and thanks. The funny thing is that it looked so pastel in the catalogue and I was disappointed when I got the sample in the mail. But then I changed my mind and decided to do brighter colors and instantly knew what bedding I wanted to use.

I'm glad you liked the gift. I just love that brand! A couple of the boutiques here carry it and I just think their stuff is so soft and snuggly. :) Glad you are enjoying the sweets as well. I felt a little guilty sending them because we are supposed to be restricting our sweets...but I figured your DH could enjoy them at least. Yes, they are from our store. My husband makes all the candy, fudge, chocolates etc. I try not to go down everyday because I just can't resist all that good stuff. :) So bad...

Hi all
I am SO far behind again. It seems like just when I think that I get ahead, something else gets me behind again. I just feel like I do not have enough time or energy to do everything so I put my son first and by the end of the day, I am DONE!
Pregnancy is still going well. I do have some moments when I feel done BUT it IS so much easier now with baby girl inside of me. Had a routine appt this morning - BP, blood work, weight and HR are all great. I feel very fortunate that things are going so smoothly. Next appt in three weeks we will do the group B strep test and an internal if I want.
Been going to the chiro for my lower back and hips and it has helped tremendously. Before I literally could not stand up without shooting pain, now it happens very rarely. Also the adjustments really have helped with just my general back pain.
hisdaffodil - I am so glad that you got the package!
mittyrd - Matt and Sam are so adorable! Keep taking good care of yourself!
beachbum- your nursery looks great!
Hi to everyone else!
epidural - I had one with my son and it was great. I had no problems with it during or after. It did not hurt AT ALL when it was put in, I was not completely numb as that is what I had requested and had no affeects after it was taken out. That being said, I hope to avoid it this time. I really want to be more involved in this birth if that makes sense. WHen you are flat on your back for hours you start to loose touch with your body and what is going on. I want to move and feel this time.
bumpers - My son has had a bumper since the beginning and still has it now - BUT he did not actually sleep in his crib until he was 6-7 months old so we were past the time where suffocation is at its highest. If your bbay sleeps in his/her crib from the beginning you can use a sleep positioner and then take the bumper out when they start rolling. We still have it in (it is pulled down really low) to keep the pacifiers in the crib, plus my son is a crazy sleeper and routinely bangs his head.
Again - HI and hugs to everyone. I really like this website better and will try to check in more regularily. Hope that you all are feeling great :)
Hi everyone! :)
My daughter just turned 1 so she definitely keeps me busy these days! I may go a few weeks in b/w posts but I definitely enjoy keeping up w/you all! Congrats to Mitty!! I'm so glad the twins seems to be doing well. I know you are super busy these days.
Bumper~ we used one of those sleep positioners in a bassinet until 4 months. Then we kept using the sleep positioner while she was swaddled in her crib until she was rolling over! (then got rid of both) So she wasn't near the bumper until then and by then, her head was very strong. Our only prob. was by 7 months she was standing in her crib and quickly learned to stand on top of her bumper and lean over the crib! She is still a climber so we are not able to put it back in. It sure was pretty but I suppose we really didn't need a bumper afterall.
Epi~ I did not feel any pain when it was put in and at that point, I didn't wish to move around anyway so I didn't mind at all when my stomach/legs became warm and numb. I didn't experience any negative side effects and would definitely choose to have one again. (if i weren't scheduling a c section w/spinal this time)

Here is a list that someone gave me when I was having a breakdown over not being ready for the baby :p
THINGS NEEDED RIGHT AWAY AND USED OFTEN:
-Besides the obvious - diapers, diaper products, bottles and wipes
-Boppie Pillow – great for breastfeeding and baby can rest comfortably
-baby washcloths – great for those sponge baths til cord falls off
-baby towels
-hats and booties
-receiving blankets – can never have enough
-burp cloths – BIG HELP
-baby tub – not til cord fell off
-bottle warmer –
-bibs
-a good nipple/bottle brush – be prepared to wash lots of bottles
-waterproof mattress pads
-Spray & Wash or Shout – formula stains clothing
-baby nail clippers
-mittens – if you don’t want to clip
-digital thermometer
-squeeze top medicine dispenser –
-suction bulb for stuffy noses
-saline drops for dry noses
-mylicon gas drops
-vibrating chair – life saver
-very little 0-3 mth clothing – grow before you know it
-diaper genie
-wipes warmer
Others
1. Obviously diapers, wipes, desitin, powder etc...
2. Childrens Tylenol, gas drops(saved us too!), first aid stuff
3. Onesies/Sleepers
- sleepers are great since they're so easy to change diapers in, no snaps to fuss with at those late night feedings
4. Cloth diapers
- whether you're bfing or bottle feeding we used white cotton cloth diapers instead of the rough burp cloths.
5. Bassinet/Co-sleeper
- we had bassinet next to my side of the bed with ds and it really got hard reaching in so many times for our nightly nursings (easier than being in the crib, but still hard after the 10th night...lol). I swore that the co-sleeper was going to be the first thing on my list for this pregnancy!!!
6. Warm clothing/cool clothing - We live in the Adirondack mountains in NY and you have to bundle your baby up. There's a huge difference between "the Christmas story" bundling and keeping your baby warm in such harsh conditions. It get's to be -60 below zero here and there's just no question. lol
7. Dreft/Ivory detergent made a huge difference with our little one. I had accidentally washed a onesie with our clothes using our tide, and he broke out into a horrible rash. Sometimes you can use other detergents, sometimes you can't. Trust me, you'll know...lol
8. Baby bath accessories....whether it's a baby tub or incline or sponge it made things a lot easier on the back! and no worries about baby slipping.
9. Infant carseat/carrier
10. Diaper bag
Breastfeeding needs.
-Nursing bra
-Nursing nightgown
-Breast pads (recommends those with plastic backing)
-Wipes/diapers (remember if your baby is under 8lbs you may need newborns, swadlers may be too big)
-Undershirts/some with sleeves
-Bottles/pump/sterilizer/storage system
-Diaper bag
-Baby meds, gas drops etc.
-Nipple cream
-Baby Laundry detergent (cause before you know it you will have a pile of dirty clothes Very Happy )
__________________
I have this list pretty much done~ I have been updating it in my journal here on CC.
I have a short list of things left to buy:
Bath Tub
Bottle Warmer
Diaper Pail
Wipes Warmer
Nipple Cream
Now I just gotta get a nursery together

Well - the news is not good about my weight folks.. I gained another 7 pounds in two weeks!! This puts my total weight gain to 42 lbs.. eeeekkk!!! My doctor is so nice about it. She says half of that is probably water, and not to worry. There was *trace* amounts of protein in my urine, but even the nurse (who can be an alarmist) said that I'm just not drinking enough water - I guess my urine was way to yellow.. so I need to drink drink drink! My blood pressure is great at 112/70, so my doctor said they'll continue to watch my BP, but no worries at this point. It's not even that I'm so worried about getting the weight off - not that it will be easy, but I know I will do it - but I am totally freaked about getting Pre-eclampsia.. Well, there's only so much I can do, right?
This makes me feel better - from a website on symptoms of pre-eclampsia:
signs of preeclampsia: high blood pressure, swelling that doesn't go away and large amounts of protein in your urine.
My swelling does go away when I put my feet up overnight, I only had trace protein, and my BP is nice and low...
I'll see her in two weeks, and then at 36 have an ultrasound, Strep B test, internal, and start seeing her once a week.. crazy! Baby is measuring perfectly.. and she even said that *if* I had the baby total she would be fine.. which is obviously nice to hear.
I'm off to my second birthing class now...

I had a dr. appt today, everything still looks good! I'm still measuring about 5 weeks ahead, so I'll be curious to see how big the baby measures when I have my next sono on 7/26. We had our birth class on Saturday (which was really really good and I think my DH is definitely more comfortable with what his role is and also realizes what all I'm going to go through!), and the instructor really recommended waiting to get the epidural as long as possible. Well, I was planning to get it asap when I got to the hospital:). I talked to my dr. about it today (told him what the instructor said) and he said there's no need for that, that I can have it as soon as I want it and it's fine. Sweet!! Then we started talking being induced and he said he induces Mondays and Tuesdays (I'm due on a Thursday), so I asked if we'd induce that following Monday/Tuesday. He said actually, we should consider the Monday/Tuesday BEFORE!! He said he really doesn't like to let people go past their due dates. SWEET again!! Although, I'd rather deliver on a Friday or weekend so DH got more time at home (only taking 1 week at the beginning and then another week at some point)...I guess I'll just have to wait and figure it out closer to that date.
I ran a few errands after my appt (i.e. 2 hours at the mall and then the grocery store) and when I got home and went to the restroom, I had some dark brown discharge on my underwear. URGH. I'm so tired of that. I wasn't spotting anymore, so I'm just going to watch it and call tomorrow if it comes back.
I have my first shower this Saturday!!! I'm so excited and can't wait!! I've peeked at my registry and a few things have been bought! Oh, and I got this dress today to wear:
http://www.motherhood.com/Images/Products/8814.jpg
Oh and in good news, our furniture has shipped and should be in this week and ready for us to pick up!! I can't wait to get the room together! My parents are coming up this weekend for the shower and are bringing the bedding with them (my mom quilted the bumpers and quilt and my grandma made the skirt)...I'll be sure to post pics as soon as it's all together!
I'll get to s/o's later .

hello everyone!
I've been following along, but not posting much. Just had to share though, a friend of mine had a 10.5 lb baby on monday! she was 9 days over her due date, but even so that is one big baby!
epidural
thank you to whoever asked the question to second time moms about the epidural. It's good to get different "real world" perspectives. My goal is to have as little intervention as possible with the birth, but I know things may change during the birth so I plan to be flexible.
all the nurseries and bellies are so cute! I'm so ready to get started on the nursery, but I just have to wait until DH paints it. We have so much other stuff going on at our house that I hope he can start this weekend maybe. If anyone is interested, Benjamin Moore makes a latex paint called eco spec which has low emissions and really does not smell at all. Lowe's olympic paint is also this way and they even have a primer. This has made real difference when DH has been painting the kitchen.
wildcat - the dress is adorable. I hope you have a great shower this weekend and I'm glad to hear things are going well with the baby.
hello to everyone else! :)

epidural ~ I got one, but ended up freaking out during it and the lady doing the epidural yelled at me and it was a huge commotion. For some reason the novacain, no matter how much she injected me, wasn't numbing the sight. So I just had to bear the pain while it was inserted the tube. It wasn't pleasant. Once the epidural medicine was pumped in, it was great, no real pain. But it slowed down my labor. By time I got to L&D, I was 8cm, they broke my water and told me that it would only be another hour or two. Well the epidural caused my contractions to stop and it ended up taking another 7+ hours before I gave birth. So, my point is, I plan not to get an epidural this time if I can help it. Oh, AND the spot that it was inserted was sore for months afterwards.

Hi gals - sorry I've been in lurk mode lately, but thinking of all of you!!
Everything here is going okay - had a couple of crazy baby days though! On Sunday we went for our 4D Ultrasound - it was great, although I think my expectations were a *little* high... she was buried in the placenta, so it was hard to get great face shots... but we have a few and she is really precious! My grandma cried the whole time - she loved it so much!
On Monday, I was feeling great - but then in the evening had this really scary attack of dizzy-ness and nausea. It didn't go away, so we decided to go to the hospital to get checked out... Baby and I were fine, and it seemed to go away, no one is really sure what it was from, but as long as it's gone, I'm happy! Anyway, I got to see the L&D room, which was kind of fun :)
wildcat - that is the cutest dress!! Have fun at your shower this weekend!
Cr8mne - thanks for the list! I'm going to copy that down... I'm also panicking a little bit... we live 45 minutes from the nearest store and I don't want to be caught unprepared!
epidural - I keep joking that I would like the epidural put in now please! Seriously though, I know I'm not the "no drugs" type, and I will take the epidural.
Hope everyone is well, hang in there mommies!

Hey everyone -- Here is a quick question -- to those of you due in very early Sept: Hase EVERYONE you see been telling you that you look like you are ready to have your baby at any moment. I just want to know if this is just me, or if its just how everyone looks at this point. I swear, not one person thinks that I am carrying this baby any longer than a couple more weeks!
Love the nurseries ladies!! celina- your little puppy is so cute :)
wildcat- that dress is SO cute. Have fund at your shower, but expect to be exhausted when its done!! I was so ready to have DH just open gifts towards the end of mine because it was just so hard to sit in a metal chair for two hours opening presents ;) lol There are much worse things though ha ha!
FYI -- For those of you who are still working at this point: I have found a godsend when it comes to footwear. I bought these adorable shoe slippers at Target this past weekend and I will never give them up!! They are dressy enough for work (actually look pretty cute) and are slip-ons. They are better than flip flops for comfort. This should be in every working pregnancy woman's list of necessary items!! :) (can you tell I am a fan? lol) Go check em out if you are having insanely swollen feet like me :)
Have a great day ladies!!

LABOR BUDDIES - 2nd Call!
I only received a few emails about labor buddies, is anyone else interested? If so, send me an email to aswearingen@gmail.com. Just a reminder of what it is...I'll pair up beginning of Sept mom's with end of Sept mom's so that they can contact eachother when they go into labor (i.e. by email, phone, etc, your choice!) and the labor buddy can post here about what's going on (i.e. in labor, baby is here, stats, etc). I'll try to get us paird up by the beginning to mid August, as I suspect we could start having more mommies around that time!

I'm the opposite. Apparently I come from a great genetic line, and all the mothers in my family carry very small. I get very shocked reactions when I tell people I'm 8 months along. However, I was plus sized to start off with, so this is quite the blessing for me.

Any one else feel like they are on an emotional roller coaster? I have been crying off and on all day. Then what really set it off is I was supposed to have a doctors appointment today but it was scheduled at 9:10 this morning but when the voicemail called me yesterday it said 1:50 pm so I had in head that it was late int he afternoon. They called me to reschedule now my appoinment is on friday morning. I really needed to see him today.
I am washing the bulk of the baby's clothes today. The hamper is full of stuff that he or she will need upon coing home. I know it is kinda early but I need to get it done before returning to work August 1st. I hardly have the energy now to deal with these renovations and get the baby ready. One good thing is I have been receiving gifts off of my registry. Yesterday I got some multi-use pads, dual receiver monitor, avent starter kit, and crib mattress pad. Then today I received the Baby Papasan Chair. That is a huge relief to me because I was defiantely going to have to go out and buy all of that stuff eventually.
Hope everyone else is doing well.

My eating habits have not changed-I don't get it. Well except for the holiday weekend food :o But I am NOT going to eat less and the OB said not to worry...sometimes women level off in the last weeks. Of course my mother told me the opposite-that she gained 10# in the last month!
Epi I also spoke to her about an epi vs natural and she simply said "Leave your potions open and see how you feel once you get there" Sounds good to me. I can't stress over something I don't have any idea about. I mean of course the pain is going to be there, but many ladies have deliverd natural. So I'm playing be ear from here on out. Thanks for all the advice and please keep it coming!

Hey guys!!
I know a lot of you were lost without your tickers...so here is a way to get them back :)!!
I stole this from a few of the August Mommies :)
When you input your signature, just link the URL of your ticker just like you would any other URL:
For Example, mine looks like this is my signature:
[*URL=http://lilypie.com/cache2/21/05221000.png]Countdown to Ava's Arrival[/URL]
Minus the *, of course :)
So if you guys want to, we can all put this in our siggies and see where everyone is, or in my case, trying to remember where I am ;) lol
Just thought I might want to put that out there. I am heading home ladies, so if I don't talk to you tonight, have a great evening and see tomorrow!!!

Thanks philnikki for the ticker info. I just went in and fixed mine - it's so nice to have it back!
I'm due at the end of September and have people saying how "huge" I am. They don't say I look quite ready to deliver, but they are surprised when I say my due date that it isn't sooner.
Registry - I am so bad. My shower isn't until August 13th, but we sent out the invitations the other day and I just peeked at my registry. Three people have already bought three of the most expensive items on it (car seat, stroller, travel crib). That is so fun, but part of me feels like I opened a Christmas present too early and now feel guilty. Is anyone else sneeking peeks?
Well, our sheetrock is hung and they are taking their time in doing the tape and texture. Looks like I "might" get to start painting next weekend. This coming weekend, I will be painting all of the baseboard and door trim so my DH can install that the following week. Then, we have to get our kitchen cabinets installed, hardwood floors and then, finally, we can put carpet in the nursery. We are still hoping to get it finished by the shower, but we'll see. It's so hard to be here at work when I could be home working on the house!
I have a massage scheduled for tonight. My regular person is also pg and she won't be able to see me anymore. So, I get a new person tonight, that should be interesting. They did say they got a new pregnancy cushion (with the belly cut out), I'm looking forward to trying that out.

Just as an FYI ~ I washed the babys clothes today and instead of dreft I used the ALL brand for babies detergent and it smells soo good. It seems to do a good job even though I have no stains yet. Plus it cost about $4 less than dreft. HTH's
Nikki~ Thanks! However I am guilty of looking at your because we have the saem due date :o
Brink~ We have a lot of the same issues going on as far as renovation. I am finding it so hard to keep the rest of my house clean. All of my wood furniture is sooo dusty.

cr8 - I used All for DS and loved it too! :) Congrats on getting so much done!! I've barely even bought baby clothes, much less washed! And I am totally an emotional nut. I just find things so overwhelming right now. I can't take it when something even totally minor goes wrong. I can't wait till these hormones calm down!
Brink - I'm with you on the renovations. I'm getting awful depressed about ours, the stupid contractors haven't even *started*! I haven't been able to use 1/3 of my house in over a month! Good luck with yours!
nikki - I can't wait to try to fix my ticker! I can never remember what week I'm at. Thanks!
I waited too long to do SO's, so I can only see the last few! I'm sorry! I need to go eat! BBl hopefully with some scanned 4d's finally, maybe a belly pic, and some more SO's.

Cr8nme - thanks for the list of items that we will need - it is a lot longer than I would have thought - wow. You are way prepared also - I haven't even thought about washing clothes - the nursery is in shambles and I, much like you, am also in shambles....for some reason I am so anxious that everything isn't perfect and complete...like the world is going to stop turning as soon as this baby arrives. I am a nut!
wildcat - love the dress!! Have fun at your shower - but like Nikki said - expect to be exhausted. I was so tired by the end of the day - and then my MIL invited herself up to my house and stayed until 9:30 - I was ready to scream  .
philnikki - so glad you like the new job! As far as size, I have an extremely long waist and everyone keeps telling me how I don't look 33 weeks pregnant. I am lucky, no swelling and not that big - however, I want so bad to go by the end of August. I am uncomfortable, can't sleep, the pressure on my bladder is unreal, and heartburn is kicking my #ss.
Brink - I am ashamed to admit but I peak at my registry every day....I had one shower this past weekend and my next shower is July 23rd - I went so far as to go to the BRU where I think most people would be shopping for the next shower and removed items that were not in stock and added items that were in stock...yes, I am a nut. I also make sure that there are items in all price ranges. I will say, one benefit to not knowing the s*x, everyone at my first shower purchased items off of my registry so I have almost everything I feel I need. I think people don't enjoy buying yellow and green outfits as much as they would items specifically made for a little boy or girl, so they stick to the registry.
movement - this is an area of concern for me...my baby is VERY inactive. Seriously, I've really had no big kicks, just a little shifting every now and then - does anyone else not feel the baby very often. It sends me into a panic almost daily.
Epi - not even a question - I am walking into the hospital backwards and demanding I be hooked up immediately :D - I would start taking drugs now if I could!!
I don't know how you ladies are dealing with major home renovations at this point - I am flipping out over the smallest things not being in perfect order - I think I would go nuts if my home was being remodeled...hats off to you girls!!
I can't seem to get the ticker thing right - I must be an idiot!!

Just a quick post about the "Things I need" list - the hospital and your first ped visit will send you home with so much great stuff - I brought home:
comb and brush - still use them
nail clippers - good ones
nose/snot sucker - the hospital one is so much softer than the store ones
nipple cream - I got two sample tubes and didn't even finish one and I used it 15 times a day for 3-4 weeks - it takes very little and lasts forever
side-tie shirts x 2
hats x 2 - not very cute, but so soft and stretchy
blankets x 4 - again, not very cute but great
small size/newborn diapers x 8 - we moved right to size 1's and my son was 7'9''
wipes - most regular wipes (even unscented ones) are too harsh for newborns - hospitals usually use a soft, dry towel that you run under warm water before use -
IMO - try not to stress too much about the small stuff - you will never use all of the stuff you buy. For instance, my kiddo is still alive and I never used a baby tub, side snap t's, wipe or bottle warmer, diaper pail or burp clothes ;)
detergent - The Dreft and Baby All still have a scent so if you or DH have sensitivities, use a Free detergent. I like ALL Free or Arm and Hammer Free- never used the smelly stuff since I always mix laundry and DH cannot use anything but the Free ones.
Hope that you all are doing well.

Alison~ Thanks for the info! When I went on my hospital tour they did tell me that they provide a lot of stuff that I already had. A lot of the stuff that is on the list was in one big suitcase type thing that I bought. For example it had the clippers, suction, comb and brush, gas drops, and more. May I ask how did you give your little one a bath? Did you just hold them because I don't have any sinks that are big enough to lay them in and my kitchen sink is one of those double ones? Also did you ask people who came over to use those blankets/burp cloths on their shoulder when they held the baby?
I enjoy hearing from other moms because everyone kept saying did you get a wipes warmer? Did you get nipple cream and then they give me their horror stories of how cracked their nipples were :o

There are several other rooms, but I won't bore you with those.
Cr8zyforaf - This made me laugh - "I went so far as to go to the BRU where I think most people would be shopping for the next shower and removed items that were not in stock and added items that were in stock". I can't even imagine being that organized right now. Although, if I were not in the middle of this remodel and running to home stores at lunch everyday, I might be running over to BRU.

Brink - I am sooo jealous! You have sheetrock up.... still waiting for those sheets to magically hang themselves in Addy's room
I don't have a ton of time for s/o's but just wanted to check in. Everything is going well here except for the big pain in the butt my belly is getting to be :) Last night was the first night I had difficulties sleeping because of "it" and I had horrible side aches all night! I tried a hypnobaby excercise to try and relax and it worked like a charm so I was finally able to sleep soundly.
Other then that, nothing new here. Anyone else craving a lot of junk food lately? It's all I can do to not want to eat *bad* and *naughty* things!!
Ohhh and I found out my shower will be August 6th. My brother's wife (cool SIL) took over the lead and has planned it all so no I am really excited :)
I just realized that tomorrow is NOT Friday...can't wait to get *my* brain back

Cr8: I also got everything before baby #1 and didn't end up using a lot of things. I never opened the wipe warmer or a bottle warmer and returned it afterwards. I figured let him get used to room temp. wipes and room temp. or cold bottles from the get-go. Jake NEVER once had a warm bottle and took all of his bottles fine and it saved us a lot of time from having to warm them every time. (I also never warmed his baby food for the same reason). I have been pumping now for 13 days and my nipples are sore but the samples they gave me in the hospital should last me quite awhile. I never used special detergent for the washing machine or bought special wipes and Jake never had a reaction to either. Also, don't buy many clothes b/c you will get tons when the baby comes. I have so many outfits that Jake only wore 1-2 times b/c he got so many presents and then outgrew everything before he could wear them.
Speaking of wipes: when it is cold, don't leave your diaper bag in the car b/c your wipes will freeze. Learned that the hard way....
Another word of advice to first time moms: Make sure you have a bowel movement the next few days after you deliver. TMI but I didn't have one until 10 days after I delivered and I might as well have had an epidural for the pain it caused
The boys are doing better. They haven't gained too much weight but their spells have drastically decreased which is a big improvement. I got to kangaroo hold both of them yesterday for 40 minutes each. It was heaven!

Oops, I missed the Epi question!
Epi - I got an Epi last time and it wore off in 15 minutes. So then they did a spinal block. After the pain was gone, I relaxed and went from 5cm to 10 in just an hour, then pushed the baby out in 15 minutes! Before, I was just hurting too bad and it was keeping my labor from progressing well! I was all fine till they broke my water for me, then the contractions HURT. i had planned to go natural, but I guess I'm more of a weenie than I thought! :D This time I'll probably do the same, depending on how I progress. I certainly will welcome the Epi/block. I had no side effects, no trouble with it, and honestly, at 5-10 cm, who wants to move around?? I could feel enough to push. Just afterwards, you can't really walk around for a while, but I don't think I would have wanted to anyway. I was too sore and enjoying the little boy to want to go wandering.
Mitty - I am so glad you got to hold the babes!! How precious! And how funny about the frozen wipes! And you bring back memories... that first BM is a B**ch. NOT looking forward to it.
Also a word of warning to 1st timers - episiotomy stitches SUCK. They itch! and are quite uncomfy. Blah.
Ack! Jo's right, it's not Friday! I gotta run to work!!!

dbers~ I'm not having an issue with weight gain, but I am starting to swell. Usually halfway through the day, you can't see my ankles and I have to remove my wedding rings. But nothing major. I figure as I get further along and it keeps getting hotter that I'll keep swelling more and more.

dbers - Oh, you're not alone, I'm just in denial . I'm 30 weeks today and have gained 30 pounds. I'm assuming I'm going to land somewhere between 35 and 40 pounds total (fingers are crossed)!! But my dr. keeps telling me not to worry about it because 5-10 of those pounds are due to water retention and it'll come off just fine afterwards. During and right after college, I gained quite a bit of weight and over the course of 3-4 years took it off (about 70 pounds, went from 195 (at 5'2") down to 125). Before getting pregnant, I'd put on about 10 pounds and was around 135, but still normal for my height. So, since I've done it before, I know I can do it again. My dr. and DH keep reminding me it's all for the baby and to not let it bother me...I'm trying!!
Thanks for all the compliments on the dress girls!! I think it's really cute too:). Maybe I'll actually post some pics of myself in it and let you know what I look like!!hehe
Hostess gift ideas needed! - As I mentioned, I have my first shower on Saturday and I have 4 hostesses and am clueless as what to get them!! 2 of them are pregnant (37weeks and 25weeks), 1 is a mom of two boys, and 1 is unmarried (so quite the range). I want to keep it small, but have no ideas (other than the standard candles, lotions, pedicures, etc.). What have you girls given/received or what are your ideas? TIA!!

I'm not having trouble with weight gain, well, except that I'd only gained back .8 pound at my last appt. . Otherwise, I'm still below my pre-pregnancy weight, darned Hyperemesis.
BUT, I am swelling. A LOT. I'm concerned about my BP b/c its been high for me. Normally I'm 90/60-100/68, tops. Lately I've been 120/70+ at my OB appts. They don't seem concerned, but that is high for me, even when pregnant.
We leave for the beach on Saturday! I can't WAIT! I also can't wait to see what the salt air/water does for my swelling :p .

I want to say thank you for all of the comments about first time moms. LAst night I thought about it and took the bottle warmer and wipes warmer off my registry only because 1. I plan to breastfeed and 2. I want to change diapers any place not just in the room with the wipe warmer. I think I went into overdrive b/c I felt everything else in my life was in shambles, lol. I must admit that even though I have all of those things on the list I don't have things in excess for example I have 1 package of diapers which I know I need more, lol I didn't buy any sensitive skin item because neither me or my husband have sensitivities. I bought the target brand for most of the wipes and stuff it was $.99 for the lotions and baby bath. As far as clothes I must say that my child has so far 2 littel gowns and like 10 onesies, 6 pair of socks, 2 hats, and about 8 receiving blankets. I think thats it. Do you think that is too much? Or do I need other things that I didn't list?
Also I don't want everyone to think they HAVE to get everything on the list...when I was having a breakdown a WC mama put that in my journal from her mommy thread that was given by 2nd time moms.
Dbers~ I am sorry please don't feel bad. I have gained about 8 pounds so far but I was big in the beginning so I attribute it to that. I have had bouts of swelling but only when I was out of town and ate a lot of fast food. I wouldn't worry too much if your doctor isn't.
Wildcat~ You look really good!
devil_kitty_1~ Have fun at the beach

Jo&sean - hang in there on the sheetrock - hopefully it will be hung soon. It's hard to wait all of those days when they are taping and you have to wait for it to dry in between - but it will get there.
dbers - you are definitely not alone. I'm embarassed by how much I've gained. I started at 5'4" and 134 lbs. I am now up to 171 at 29w 4 d. That is a 37 lb gain with over 10 weeks to go! I knew early on I would be at the very top end of the scale. Everyone says I still look good and it is all baby, but how does a baby that only weighs 3lbs so far account for 37 lbs!!!!! And - when I look in the mirror, I really think my backside sticks out as far as my big belly. I"ve heard a lot of it comes off when breastfeeding, I'm counting on that one.

Boy I am posting a lot today  I am going to blame it on me being off for the summer and sitting at home because it was 115 degrees yesterday
So here is my question speaking of breastfeeding I am wondering how many of us are planning on trying to breastfeed. ( I only say trying becuase I know it doesn't always work out according to plan)

I'm here a lot because I'm tired of working and all I think about is pregnancy and the baby!! :p
breastfeeding - ME!! I REALLY REALLY want to breastfeed (I just think it sounds like such a special bonding experience with the baby I don't want to miss out on) and I will be pretty devastated if we can't. I have lactation specialists in the hospital and at my dr's office that I plan to use frequently to make sure it's all going well. Despite the bonding...for me, I like that it's free (more money to spend on baby pics and cute clothes and toys, etc) and so easy (always ready supply, no bottles to clean or warm up), at least until I go back to work! That being said, I know that formula is just fine and if for some reason I can't breastfeed, I'll try to deal with it;). My right boob has been leaking for 2 months now, surely that's a sign that at least my right one works!! :D

Wildcat~ I am with you on all of the points I am here a lot for that reason too :p I think I just wanted to blame it on the weather today (see my emotional roller coaster)
I too also want to breastfeed really badly and want to save money. My friend told me that she spends about $250 per month on formula and diapers as milk is about $50 a case. Wow you have leaking!!! Does it come out on your shirt? I notice that mine are very crusty lately but haven't seen any moisture.
I also constantly have thoughts that my water is going break at any moment. I am wierd but I am sure you guys thought that before I made this commnet :p

Cr8nme - We'll just have our own conversation today!! :D Yep, about the middle of May, I was home studying for a certification and was just wearing shorts and a tshirt (no bra) around the house and noticed that my right nip was cold...look down and sure enough, there was a wet spot! Ever since then, it happens if I don't have a bra on (I'm assuming it might happen in the bra, but I don't pay any attention!). On Sunday, I just had on a tshirt after getting out of bed, looked down to TWO HUGE wetspots...DH thinks it's funny...I lifted up my shirt and some ran down my boob! And fyi - it doesn't dry normal, it must stain (colored tshirt, couldn't tell). Hopefully I don't have to start wearing breastpads anytime soon!!haha AND OMG - I don't want to spend that much on formula!! (we could, but don't want to!). I plan to breastfeed for the first year, depending on how it goes (especially once I return to work). However, at work, my manager had her 2nd baby a year ago and just finished breastfeeding. We have lactation rooms, so it should be fairly convenient.

I don't mind having a private convo:D Wow you know right now I just walk arounf with no bra on. I went to motherhood and picked up a couple of nursing bras and they weren't really expensive. I got one for $12 and it wasn't on sale. I too want to breastfeed for a year and I do not want to pay that much for formula. That is good that you have nursing rooms. My hubby really wants me to stay home this school year and we are debating that. I don't htink I hav told anyone but we are probably going to be moving from Arizona to Texas this fall  Oh and FYI a lot of my friends and family that has breastfed told me to try and get the breast pads that are washable or the gel ones.

I nursed my first for over 2 years and plan to do the same this time around. It wasn't easy at first, I won't lie. BUT, I'm so glad I stuck with it! He was exclusively BF'd until he decided he liked solids but he was over a year old before he ate much of ANYTHING! He was a boob man :D ;) .
I'd be happy to answer any questions y'all may have about BF'ing. The best advice I ever got was to get in contact with the La Leche League AND a Lactation Consultant before my son was born. I had a LOT of support from them and from my DH.

Cr8nme - I never bought a baby tub the first time because I sorta forgot:) My son didn't really like the bath that much for months so he either got a quick bath in the sink or took one with me - that is the most wonderful thing, sitting in a warm bath with your little one skin to skin on you, nursing in the tub - SO relaxing. I think that you will be fine without the warmers - to me it just seemed like overkill. A bottle warms up very nicely in a warm cup of water. I forget where you live, but if it gets cool at night you might need a couple of footed sleepers - this is what my son lived in for the first 3 months. Carters makes the best ones and you can find them cheap at second hand baby stores (if you have one near you.)
wildcat - Cute belly - you look really tan, even you belly:)
weight gain - I am doing so much better this time! Last time I gained 46 total and so much of it was water. This time I am at 23 pounds at 32 weeks - but I still have plenty of time to add on the water weight as it is getting SO hot here.
breastfeeding - I nursed my son for 14.5 months and hope to go more like 18-24 months this time to get her thru her second cold and flu season. There was nothing I wanted more than to nurse and it is truly the best and most wonderful thing I ever experienced! It is hard at first but I was absolutley determined not to give up. Here are my tips:
1. Set small goals along with your longer goals - at 3am it is hard to think about making it to 1 year and much easier to think about making it until the end of the week!
2. Have lots of support ready and be prepared- Lactation consultanats, a pro-BF pediatrician and a good BFing book
3. Make sure that you hubby knows how important it is to you to nurse you child - at 3am when you baby won't latch and your nipples are sore, it is you DH that needs to give you a break etc NOT want you give him/her a bottle because it will be easier
4. Make the decision, stick with it and say screw you to anyone who wants you to quit!
Like devil_kitty I would be mre than happy to answer any and I mean Any questions about breastfeeding - IMO it is the best thing you can ever do for you baby and I truly hope that it works out for everyone.

you know, mostly i have been lurking along but felt like saying hello today. can i just say i am so thankful to read about how everyone else is doing so i can feel "normal" too! some days it CAN be overwelming to feel prepared, and we are certainly getting close! and those issues with getting remodels done, getting supplies, feeling ok with weight gain, etc are hard to deal with some days. some days i get home in the evening and feel like sitting down to cry, which has happened more than once! poor husband, i feel bad for him but he is SO supportive and helping me out a lot. i just don't have any girlfriends or family around here that helps me deal... that's where you guys come in!!
i am doing pretty well though. had my check up this week is all is good. still adore my midwife. i had passed my glucose test, BP good. i have gained just about 30 lbs - at 30 weeks (starting from 5'5" and 135). i was hoping not to go over 40-45 total so we'll see. unlike where a lot of you live, we will be into winter just about when the babe comes, so i am hoping the swelling i get on warm days now won't be bothering me then.
we are fully in the middle of rearranging the house for baby stuff. so it's a mess here too. put in a closet organizer for us so we can move the dresser out, make room for crib, get rid of some things, etc etc. but for now it's in the "mess" stage before all the changes look good!
thanks for the advice on things to stock up on- we too are quite far from a store (actually i even mail order most stuff so that makes it worse) i will be planning on breastfeeding too- but i have this major irrational fear that my breasts won't "work" so i need to get over that! also i have been researching cloth dipes a bit because i am planning to use those. have any of you ever made a sling? that is going to be one of my upcoming projects... found a few websites with directions and it looks pretty easy.
anyway, that's all for now i hope everyone is having a great day!

Thanks guys - you all made me feel better :o
Brink - sounds like we're on the same track! people also tell me that it's all baby - but geez!!! I just want her to be healthy. I'm not *that* concerned about losing it all - I've never really had a weight problem, but I could end up biting my tongue on that one!!
My friend who gained over 40 lbs said she lost about 20 almost immediately - meaning it was water, water, water!!!
Breastfeeding - I will definitely try.. we're supposed to talk about BF at our next and final childbirth class on Tuesday evening. My sister had a really hard time with her first - but managed to get through the difficult time.. she had a much easier time with her second - although it did seem to hurt a lot at first.

Hey everyone!
I, too, am on here because I get distracted from work all the time bc I think of something I am curious about regarding the baby and want to see how my CC mommies have weighed in on the subject! lol I just started too, so it can't be a good sign, lol!!
breastfeeding - I am going to try as well. I originally was not going to try when I heard all of these horror stories from my girlfriends that had babies from Feb. through April (there were 5 of them). BF'ing did not work out for any of them. I really want to give my baby the very best I can, and (and this is only my opinion) breast milk is best. I was a formula fed baby, and I still plan to supplement w/ formula gradually so that she is off the breast by around 6-8 ms, but I truly want to give my baby all the immunities and nutrients I can give, provided that my body agrees with me! I know that it might not work out, too, so I don't have any false impressions of it being really easy. Plus, the money factor is a huge bonus, and it will be nice to reduce the amount of bottles. That's just my two cents :)
weight gain - I was about 20 pounds over where I wanted to be when I got pregnant (I was 166, and I wanted to be closer to 146) for my height. At my last appt. I was 193, so a 27 pound gain when I only have about 6 weeks left was not so bad. If I gain a pound a week till then, then it will be a total of 33 pounds. It's scaring me to death, though, getting up to that 200 pound mark :( I just hope a lot of it comes off after she gets here, as I don't know how I will handle being this size permanently.
Well ladies, hope all is well today. I am really swollen this afternoon. I have been swelling worse again in the past week or so. I drink a ton of water too, so I am not sure what the culprit could be that is causing it so much this week verus last. Ah, the joys of pregnancy :)
hi everyone :)
i wanted to share my nursing experience b/c so many times you only hear the horror stories. my dd knew what to do from the beginning and things went pretty smoothly. the lc in the hospital would stop by and watch and give me tips which was a huge help! don't be afraid or embarassed to ask if you and the baby are doing it right. :) i used lansinoh cream after every feeding and mainly kept my shirt off to let them air dry. i never had bleeding, painful cracked nipples or any type of infection. i kept a notebook beside me so i could write down which side and for how long my dd nursed. it might be painful/difficult in the beginning but it does get better! also, ...i know a lot of people who think there is nothing more fulfilling than nursing their babies & they just truly LOVE the experience. i think that is great (and maybe i'm just the weird one) b/c for me....nursing my dd was just something i was glad i could do for her & yes it was special but not something that gave me an incredible feeling or intense bonding experience each time i fed her. (just don't want any 1st time moms to feel like something is wrong if nursing doesn't go as you've heard it should or imagined it to be) i'm sure it's different for everyone. :)

OK - I didn't meant to mislead you all - I am told I am carrying very well - however I was large to begin with - I am 5'9" and I won't go into weight - but I've gained 30 pounds - probably more at this point because that was 1.5 weeks ago and my clothes are getting tighter. I think I am not all belly - I am @ss, hips, arms, ankles - everything, so it is evenly distributed. Even Dh commented on my legs at the beach and how big they have gotten and they were like tree trunks to begin with. No swelling, but I feel like a house.
I was extremely sick throughout my pregnancy..just a little background before I tell this story. At my shower, one of my dear friends gave me a mommy care package which included a neck massager and some milk duds (she knows are my favorite candy) with a ton of other stuff. So, I got home from work on Monday - DH was downstairs eating dinner and I went upstairs to lay in bed with my neck massager and decided to polish off one of the boxes of milk duds. Well, I was lying there, stuffing the milk duds in so fast I choked - bad. DH thought I was getting sick again and came running up the steps. I didn't have the heart to tell him what really happened.
I will be back to post more later - my boss is harrassing me...imagine, making me do work while I am at work..the nerve.

Just got back from the dr, and all is super with my little one. She's turned and is head down now..and measuring a week behind. I've measured a week behind the entire time so no biggie. Biggest shock to me was the weight gain (or lack). I'm 33 weeks along now, and have gained a monster 2 pounds. !!!
I'm still getting sick almost daily though :( Other than that, the little tyke is doing fantastic!

Wow, you all are chatty today!
All is going well here and I'm 31w1d. I still can't believe how fast this pg is going. Down to single digits until my EDD! I'm on every-two-week appts. until 36w. Passed my glucose test and BP and all that is fine. I've gained about 25 lbs. and figure I will probably gain close to 35 altogether, as I've pretty much been on the same gaining track as with my first pregnancy. Except that I've been eating tons and tons of sweets. Gotta cut back!
Last night the baby did a GIGANTIC THUMPING FLIP. It was so weird and so forceful that DH could feel it ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE BED. It rocked the bed like a small earthquake (We live in CA). Seriously. Then it was really quiet for a couple minutes and I was afraid something bad had happened. Wild!
I doesn't get very hot where I live in the summer, so I'm not dealing with much swelling. However, I have about the grossest varicose veins you've ever seen. I'm glad I don't have to wear shorts--let's put it that way. TMI--I even think I have a varicose vein in my cooch! Everything is so swollen "down there." Gross, gross, gross. :p Anyone else dealing with nasty veins?
breastfeeding I BF'd DD for 12 months and plan to BF this baby for the same amount of time. We (or rather my bbs) had a tough first week but after a visit to a LC to correct my latch, things turned around, my nipples healed, etc. It's definitely tough to be the only one up doing the middle-of-the-night feedings but you get very used to it.
My only regret was that I couldn't deal with pumping and didn't want to supplement with formula, so DD never got trained on a bottle. This meant that I really couldn't be away from her for any amt. of time. Some moms are totally down with that and want to spend every second with their baby, but I think it made me a little stir crazy and depressed. And especially now that I'll be a SAHM to two under two, I know I'm going to need to get out a bit more.
I am a big fan of Medela breast pads. They are soft padded flannel and can be washed. I had 3 pair that made it through an entire year of nursing! You obviously have to wash them every day to avoid smelling like milk but there is so much baby laundry anyway, I just tossed them in with DD's stuff. Didn't like the cheaper Gerber pads at all--too small and scratchy.
baby gear I never bought a wipes warmer or bottle warmer. Used warm water and cotton pads for the first couple of weeks anyway.
Also if you plan to BF don't go overboard on bottles/nipples, etc. You can always buy more at any drugstore and even if you plan to introduce the bottle, I think the recommendation is for waiting until 4-6 weeks, after BFing is well established.
mitty Yay for holding your sweet boys!
solongtogo Sorry that you're still so sick. Ugh!
devilkitty Have a great vacation!
Hats off to all you ladies doing home remodels. Wow! I hope all your plans come together soon.

HI LADIES (waving!)....Wow, I can't believe I'm just NOW getting over here....I haven't gone back to read up on what I've missed but did want to say a HUGE CONGRATULATIONS to mittyd and welcome to the world Matthew & Samuel!!!!!
I'm doing well at 32w2d....our buy/sell of our houses is ALMOST done...we close on our new house a week from tomorrow and on our current house 2 weeks after that...DH and I just can't wait to move in and get settled before the baby comes. I went to the doctor this week and all is looking good. The doctor is thrilled at my weight gain (I'm not)...by my numbers I've gained 31 lbs...but doctor said I should gain about 35 lbs at least becuse i was on the small side to begin with...I gain app. a lb a week so we'll see where I end up.
ETA: I just went back a few pages and see weight gain is the popular subject. I too think I am NOT all belly...I definitely gained in my @ss, hips, arms, legs, face, everywhere...some people say I'm all belly but they are just trying to make me feel better. I hope to stay under the 40 lb total mark and hopefully will be like alot of other moms I've talked to who say you lose a lot from just baby and water.
I'm heading to Houston this weekend for a wedding (I know, call me crazy), but we'll be spending the whole weekend in teh hotel where all the festivities are so it shouldn't be too bad.
I have to go catch up but wanted to say hi to everyone.

Weight - I've gained 30 so far! I'm PAST the weight I was at when I delivered DS. Very scary!
Hope this works... Belly Pic, 31 weeks!

http://im1.shutterfly.com/procserv/47b5d935b3127cce929e42ee1cb400000016109AZOG7Vw0ac
Yup, his feet and hands are all up near his head, and he's butt first right now. Lovely.
Breastfeeding - I BF DS for about 16 months before he self-weaned. I plan to Bf this one as well. I went back to work after 8 days with DS, so he was introduced to the bottle early but took to it well. Pumping wasn't too bad, but it just gets on your nerves after a while, you feel like you're chained to this pump. I did love that I could have other people feed him by pumping, but he still got Breast milk. It meant I could run errands or do things by myself, without worrying about whether or not he was going to need to eat. The Lansinoh breast pads were great too, although they are disposables. They seemed to be shaped better and didn't leave funny outlines.
Leakage - Wildcat, I leaked early last time too! It is rather funny. Later on, when they get full and you squeeze them, they'll shoot across the room! Crazy! Last time, my right one was first to leak and more full as well. Someone mentioned that at least one side works. Keep an eye on that, because when I started bf DS, he only nursed off 1 side because it was the one that "worked" and I ended up lopsided! The 1 side would feel up real full (nursing stimulates more production), and the other would be half empty all the time. So I was like a DD on one side, and a B on the other!!! Very funny looking!

knz- just responding to the vein issue since i don't know if it has been brought up before! i too have veins popping out just like i thought i would (thanks to genetics ;) ) luckily i don't need to bother wearing shorts in public during the average summer here... but i did want to mention that my midwife recommended an Essential Fatty Acid (omega 3-6-9) supplement to help with vein health. now, i KNOW i am genetically doomed for veins because of my mom, but i thought it might help just a little so i have been taking them since early on in the preg. also, since i started taking it, i have seen various other articles saying how good it is for lots of other things- esp brain development. then, when i started going to the chiropractor, he told me to take it as an anti-inflammatory. so it seems there are lots of good reasons to take it. it is just a gel-cap with fish, flax and borage oil and safe to take.

northernYa--I have genetics to thank for most of my varicose veins as well. My mother's are awful and I even had them a tiny bit before my pregnancies. Thanks for the info on Essential Fatty Acid supplement. That's what I feel like I need--an anti-inflammatory. I'll have to see what the doctor says next week.

Northern I've been taking an Omega-3 supplement since the beginning of the 2nd trimester, perhaps that's why those pesky spider veins stopped spreading! Does your MW have you drinking RRL tea? My MW has me drinking at least a cup daily of RRL, alfalfa and peppermint mixed tea. The RRL tones your uterus in preparation for labor and the alfalfa tea prevents hemorrhaging. It doesn't taste half-bad either!
Is there no spell check on this thing? If so I'm doomed!

Hi Ladies-
I finally got a chance to register and post over here. Hope everyone is doing well. Welcome to our world Matthew and Samuel !!! Congrats to you Mitty - the boys are beautiful. I hope both babies and mom are adjusting well. Post more pictures!
KIm - thank you so much for the great onesies. So funny, DH and I were talking a few weeks ago about what we need for the new babe, and I said besides a double stroller, just some new burp cloths and onesies. So they're perfect. Glad you liked the bath set.
I don't have time now to catch up, but I'll be back.

So how about I just got a call and I think I am going to be subpoened in the bankruptcy of the company I worked for as an accountant on the side for the last 4 years :( They were forced into bankruptcy by the bank and now I don't know if I need an attorney or what? :( :( I am really scared. I mean, I know that I had no decision making authority whatsoever, but who knows how far these guys will go in order to get their money back (the bank, the IRS, various other entities)...Anyone out there an attorney who wants to give some advice???
And isn't this great at 33 weeks pregnant! Like I need this stress right now. :( Phil was trying to keep me calm and tell me that it will all be fine but I don't know...
Thoughts, anyone? I am so scared :(

Exhaustion. Anyone else?
I’ve gotten three full nights of sleep, last night I even got 9 ½ hours, but I still feel exhausted. All I do is yawn all day. After eating breakfast I feel like I’m going to puke because I’m just so tired. It’s getting extremely difficult to stay awake on my commute to work and once at work, I sit here starring at my monitor.
I am so lethargic in the evenings after work. I just can’t get myself to do anything. I sit on the couch waiting for bedtime to come.
I am worried because it’s getting worse. It’s getting difficult to hold my own head up in the mornings. :(
BTW: I’m 29 weeks.

Uggggg I am so irritated! I was supposed to have a doctors appointment on wednesday and that got rescheduled to this morning at 9:10 well they just called to say my Doctor is in an emergency C-section and can I come in at noon. I mean I know babies are unpredictable but man can I at least see my doctor. Especially with all the questions I have for him. Well I am sooo hungry and I have to go and pay my mortgage so I guess I will do that and then head to the doctor.
Welcome sunkissed!

philnikki - I'm not a lawyer and don't have any real basis for this opinion, but I can't imagine them being able to come after you for ANYTHING! If you were just an employee of the company, there is nothing they can do to you. I think it would be different if you were an officer or had any financial interest in the company, but as an employee, I'm sure they are just looking for you to verify the accuracy of what is being told to them by the ones liable. Try not to worry - I'm sure it is nothing other than a wasted day in court.
celina - I'm with you on the exhaustion - doesn' sound as bad as yours, but I'm really tired. Part of mine is the lack of sleep. I'm most affected on my morning commute. I drive an hour to work and I'm lucky I make it here without hitting someone on the road. Very scary. I'm usually ok on my drive home, but it takes me a long time to wake up in the morning. I'm trying to take short naps during my lunch hour to catch up.
Welcome Sunkissed!
I go for our 3D scan on Saturday evening. We are so excited.

Celina It's so nice to know that I'm not the only one. The last week, I have been sooooo tired. A nap doesn't seem to help either, I'm exhausted 30 minutes after I wake up. I vaguely remember taking 3-5 hour naps on the weekend during my first pregnancy.

Nikki - I am so sorry that you are having to deal with this issue right now! What timing they have... I totally agree with Brink - I am not an attorney (but I did work for one over summer break once - does that count?) but I can't imagine you being held liable for anything as long as you weren't an active participant in any kind of schemes and I can't imagine that you were! It seems like they always want to call anyone and everyone under the sun who might have some tidbits of information.
Sunkissed - Welcome!
Hisdaffodil - You look great!! I love the 4d pic too :)
Celina - I wouldn't say I am overly exhausted like you mentioned but very tired in the late afternoons/evenings. Have you spoke with your doctor about being so tired like that?
Nothing new to report here. Addy is a wild woman - she moves sooo darn much that sometimes it freaks me out. This morning I poked her and she would poke me back :)

Celina - At 30 wks I've been experiencing this weird combination of exhaustion/increased energy. On one hand it feels like the 1st tri, I could sleep ALL DAY. But then I get these amazing energy spurts and able to do more in an hr than I've probably done the entire 2nd tri - lol. Yesterday DH and I took a walk on the beach and I walked further than I ever have and didn't even feel tired or experience debilitating BH's. Weird. Anyway, I'm thinking of getting my iron levels checked just in case...before I was preggo I tended to be slightly anemic and while my iron levels checked out fine during the 1st tri I've read that they can be depleted going into the 2nd tri (baby's demands are higher). Might be worth checking into.
Last night I talked to my girlfriend who has a one-year-old son. She said that her stomach returned to fairly normal size right away, but she hung on to about 20 extra lbs for 7 months (she gained 50 lbs during her pregnancy, she's underweight so an extra 20 on her bod is great!). Still...I started to panic thinking I could hang on to 10-20 lbs for that long after the baby is born. I mean I live on an island!! It's not like I can cover up in sweaters and jeans. *sigh* I've also read that it takes a good 4-6 wks for your uterus to contract back to it's original size, is this true?
Pants?? Can anyone even remotely fit into their pre-pregnancy jeans or pants? I was curious so I tired my GAP jeans on, COULD NOT get them past my thighs. I know that my hips have spread and everything is a bit wider, but I also am more toned than I was pre-pregnancy thanks to squats and lunges. O-k...enough about GAP jeans and wide hips, I'm going to go eat some frozen coffee yoghurt...

hisdaffodil - THANK YOU !!! I just recieved my package and it is wonderful!!! I SO needed socks, bibs and hooded towels. My son was in there when I opened it and looked at the books and took them to his room and put them in his basket:) Again, thank you! BTW - cute u/s pics.
Celina - I am pretty pooped, but not as bad as you describe. Are you taking your vitamin? I wonder if you have become a bit anemic? Around 30ish weeks you should have another blood test to check it - I just had mine and it was fine, but had gone down since becoming pregnant.
sunkissed - Welcome - I wouldn't even try to put on my pre-preg pants - too depressing:) And yes it can take several weeks for your uterus to go back to normal - breastfeeding helps it go down more quickly.
philnikki - Hope everything works out - try not to get too stressed, OK!
Doing well here - trying to organize the baby's room so that we can take down the border and paint soon. Hope everyone is having a great Friday!

Just came backfrom my doctors appointment. It was pretty routine. I have my next appointment on August 27th. I will have my group B strep and check my cervix. He also said that he will not let me go over my due date and will induce me the week leading up to my due date which makes me feel better. He also told me that from where the heartbeat is the head is down but could still turn. I asked him about all of my pains and he said that I will start to have that but as long as my water doesn't break then he is not too worried. I gained 1 pound this time which brings me to a total of 9 pounds for the pregnancy
Hope everyone else is doing well. I don't feel that well today and don't have an appetite hardly at all.

3-hour - Did anyone that had to do the 3-hour get your actual levels back? My doc told me I passed, but I just got the lab work in the mail and was surprised she said passed with the levels that I have.
They were: 1 hour - 171, 2-hour - 153, 3-hour - 131. Doesn't that sound really high to have passed?
hisdaffodil
07-16-2005, 06:36 AM
Brink - I didn't get the 3 hour, but I've talked a lot to the diabetes doc lately since I totally flunked my 1 hour. She says that what they're looking for is to make sure that your sugar levels are going down in that time period, to prove that you're making insulin and getting it under control. Sometimes apparently pregnancy hormones interfere with the insulin maker and so it doesn't go down like that, just skyrockets till the sugar's out of your system. HTH
Alison - July 15th, right on time! Even with my mishap! Yay! I'm glad you liked everything! I bought several packets of those little books, for all the babies being born in my family this year, and for mine. My son likes to steal them too. ;)
Sunkissed - Welcome! I must admit, for some reasoning I can't remember, I tried on a pair of pants at a sale, hoping to find some new pre-pg jeans. I figured if they just didn't fit in the belly, that was fine cuz duh, I was pregnant. I so could not get them up my thighs either!!!! And I tried on a size larger than I was pre-pg, no luck!! AAAAH!
philnikki - at this point, they're probably requesting everyone under the son to be there. When they actually question you, they may find out you're of no use to them and let you go. Otherwise, as someone said, you're probably just there to verify what others have said, or simply to say that you were never asked to do anything illegal.
exhaustion - comes in spurts. I'm so sucking at work. I get up in the morning and I'm exhausted. I get through the day barely. get home and take a little nap if DS will let me. Then I can get a few things done, but after about 2 hours, I'm done again.
tummies - I was back to pre-pg size by my 6 weeks post-partum exam everywhere except my chest (breastfeeding!). BF helps a lot of it come off, it really does! So don't worry, it can be shed!
Ladies, I'm off to go garage sailing! wheee! I hope today's an energy day, cuz I have lots to do!

Celina ~ I don't have a name for my baby. I mean I have a girl name but not a boy name and since I don't know what I am having I don't call the baby a name. I don't think you should worry. Have you and Dh talked about names taht you like. Maybe you could go into the hospital with a few names in mind and then decide after she is born. Thats what DH and I are doing.

We're pretty sure we're going to name him Zachary, although we're not completely sure. We're not entirely decided on the middle name either although DH's favorite is Ryan.
I had an ultrasound yesterday. The baby is measuring at 3 lbs 14oz and everything looks good. He's definitely a boy. It was much clearer in this ultrasound than the one at 20 weeks.

Name -We have decided on both a girl's name and a boy's name (since we're keeping the sex a surprise). Grace Elizabeth and Ethan Alexander. Last year I had a miscarriage so we had narrowed down the names before becoming pregnant again. Throughout this pregnancy I've referred to the baby as "she", but now that the birth is coming up I'm more aware that it could just as well be a "he". So Baby, Bambito, Sweetheart...it is!
We are going to name her Audrey. (not sure of middle name though)

Hi all my fellow girls,
I have been following along--I lost my post at one point, so was frustrated to retry. HOpefully this will work.
Update on baby: He is moving a LOT. DH and I have a lot of belly watching and touching time. This guy is hyper. Either I am not noticing, or he is just more still when I am hustling and bustling during the day. Once I am back in my car or at the computer or in bed, he starts busting out.
Update on me:
GTT: Barely passed the 1 hr GTT--135. Some docs say that 130 is the limit, some say 140. I'm going with 140. I'm (kindof) watching what I eat--1 ice cream cone instead of 2 (yes, I was eating 2 daily ice cream cones at the same time before, even for breakfast).
Weight gain: I have gained 23 pounds (only 20 from the 1st appt--I like to count from there  ) . Now I know that sounds like not a lot, but I am bigger than most of my preg friends, and many of my patients have delivered AT or below my weight gain (patients who are the same body type). Plus everyone has been noticing and commenting how big I am.
Recent trip to the grocery store, when I was grabbing some milk, a young grocery man was putting away the OJ. Our funny conversation:
Grocery man: Look at you! You're about to deliver any day now!
Me: Well, no...actually I still have over 2 months.
Me (thinking): he must be a single guy who doesn't know anything about preggo moms.
Grocery man: Really? My wife's had 4 babies already. You look big enough to deliver now!
Me: oh I hope not! I' m not ready.
Grocery man: well, then you're gonna have one BIG baby!!
He was very nice, so I was very amused and laughing, not offended or anything. My Butt is darn big.
My belly: since I sleep on my back, my DH told me this morning that my belly looks like a mountain. He was shocked.
Girls, do you know when it is not safe to sleep on your back? I start off on my left side like a good girl, but always end up on my back by morning. I should have asked my OB the other day.
Tired: I go home EVERY DAY at lunch to take a nap. Even if it is 15 minutes, I don't think I could manage my afternoons if I didn't have this nap.
OB visit 30 weeks: I changed OB since my insurance changed. This new one, I like very much. She said the baby is measuring right on target (I had a scare during Memorial weekend, when the baby was measuring 4 weeks behind--that's when I started to force myself to eat more).
Unfortunately, this new insurance--HMO--limits the visits. Whereas before I might have 2 week appt, I am allowed only at 4 weeks. And the OB is out of town, so I won't see her until I am 36 weeks! The baby might be here by then. Doesn't that sound like such a long time before seeing her again?
My start up clinic: I am getting so busy, that I added another half day. I am booked solid which is very exciting. But I am bewildered about how I am going to slow down as I get really huge.
New old house: it is going very very slowly. We are slowly moving in on the weekends. We have remodeled some. And the baby's room is the nicest room in the whole house.
Shower: is this afternoon. I am stuck here in the computer room for 30 minutes because my FIL mopped right outside. I am very touched that my ILs have put all this effort into this party. It is very nice, and I will try to post photos.
Have a great weekend!
;)

Hope everyone had a great weekend. I spend so many hours standing painting baseboard and door trim that I think my feet will fall off! But, I made great progress.
We had our 3D/4D appointment yesterday. She looked great (glad to confirm she is still a she). The tech said she was measuring around 3.4 lbs and around 16 in. long. It was pretty amazing. - here are some pics.
She is smiling in this one.

Here you can she she is all bent over, she is holding her foot -

crow - according to "week by week" you are not supposed to sleep on your side past 16 weeks. I've heard there is a blood vessel that runs behind where the baby is positioned that you can compress with the baby's weight. But, I've also heard that if it doesn't bother you, not to worry about it. I'd check with your doc - but I've tried to stay off my back but wake up that way once in a while.

Hello everyone! Today is my Birthday.....threadmistresses......can you please change my age to 25.Thanks! We had a great time at the Niagara Falls. It took us 6 hours to get there, but we stopped every 2 hours, which worked out great for pee breaks and drink refills. I walked SO much and it was really hot out. It was all worth it though and the baby seemed to enjoy it as well.
NikkiI hope that everything works out for you. Did you find anyone to assist you on this matter? How is your new job going?
4-D's The babies look so cute and remind me of what's really wiggling in my belly :)
celina We have named our baby but are still in an arguement about the middle name..I don't think it will ever be decided until the day and I have a feeling DH will win the battle...Hunter Edward and not Hunter Ronald.
My shower is this weekend and my mom will tell me nothing. The things that she has told me I don't agree with-including the house she chose to have it at. out of her 4 sister's that live on the same street (yes) she chose the one with the least amount of parking and the smallest yard. So she is having it on her deck-fairly big, but I think of it as a giant playpen! Am I being a pregnant woman or realistic?
I think someone posted a while back that no one RSVP'd to their shower. Well the same thing has happened to my mom. Only 4 people (out of 70) have called. But everyone I talk to seems to be attending!! How rude. I'm sure it will be a great time. I only hope the weather is good because it is being held outside  . I'm very excited though!!!!!!

Horrible weekend - my BIL had to have emergency surgery on Friday night to remove his appendix and his wives grandfather passed away this morning. His wife and I do not get along at all (she is a horrible person) so now I have to put on a nice face and attend the funeral...I would rather eat glass. I am so tired, I feel like if I close my eyes, I will slip into a coma.
My second shower is this Saturday and so far, not one new thing has been purchased off of my registry. I will be happy for whatever we get, but this really annoys me. DH family has a tendency to not buy off of registries (we ended up with about 100 clocks and vases as wedding gifts). So frustrating that I spent so much time registering and no one is even looking at it.
randysmandy - I was the one that complained about the RSVP's to my moms shower - we invited about 60 and about 30 showed up - out of the 30 that didn't show up, only 5 called. My mom had it catered and ended up with a TON of stuff left over - I am really p*ssed about this and can't believe I have friends who are so inconsiderate. How was the shower? I was the same nutcase with my mom's shower - she insisted on having it at her house - which is small and no parking - it all worked out despite the fact that I flipped out about it the months leading up to the shower.
Brink - Sanding and Painting  - I bet you were exhausted. I have so much to do around the house - but every time I think about it, I decide to take a nap instead. Great pictures - she is beautiful!
crow - I had a friend who slept on her back the entire pregnancy - I think if it doesn't bother you, I wouldn't worry about it. I haven't been able to lay on my back since 20 weeks- I got so sick at my 20 week sonogram that I had to lay on my side to finish it.
I love all the names that have been picked out. We have chosen Ashley Marie for a girl and Andrew Robert for a boy. I ate a spicy dish last night for dinner and the bean went nuts - it felt like it was trying to claw its way out of me...

Good morning girls!!
I had my first shower this weekend (with friends here in town) and it was wonderful!! Everyone that was invited came, so awsome!! I got a TON of stuff, as soon as pics are uploaded, I'll post! I have a shower here at work in a few weeks and then a shower in my hometown with all my relatives in about a month. After that, we'll buy whatever's left, but I don't think it will be much!
We also picked up our furniture this weekend and I LOVE IT!!! My mom quilted the bumpers and quilt and my grandma made the skirt, and they're all perfect!!
I need to get a few things done at work this morning, but I'll BBL with pics!
Brink - She's gorgeous!!
randysmandy - Happy birthday!!! Good luck with the shower, I hope it turns out great despite your doubts!
cr8zyforaf - I didn't get a ton of stuff off my registry, either...people tended to buy whatever they wanted (which was a lot of blankets for some reason). But everything we got, the baby needs, so I'm totally happy:). We aren't finding out the gender, so I assumed more people would buy off the registry, but nope! The funny thing is, I always hear people complaining about getting so many clothes at showers...we got ONE onesie and that was it! That's great for me, since my mom and I have already bought most of what the baby needs 0-3months.

Well I broke down an bought a MUMU--yes you heard me correctly. I bought a mumu and I love it! HA! I got back from the beach yesterday and had no lounge wear that would fit. I was hot and wanted something soft and non-restricting to wear around the house.
I rushed out to K-mart and found the perfect thing! My husband was totally cracking up. I feel so liberated! Next thing you know I'll be wearing full coverage undies.

I will be posting updates after lunch, so hang tight with me :) Sorry so late.
My weekend was ok. My DH and I sold a bunch of our junk at a flea market on Sunday morning. This was our first time doing anything like that and it was a pretty decent success! There were some *interesting* people there. Oh, well. Made for a pretty good laugh now and then. Baby and I are doing great. Baby is still staying put for the moment! Only a few more days left to go and we are out of the woods if she decides to make her appearance. I can't even believe that I only have a max of 6 weeks left!!(OB will induce between 38-39 wks). It's just so nuts!! Anyone else growing out of their maternity clothes at the moment??? All of my stuff was sooo comfy for so long and now I can bearely fit into any of it :( So, so sad. Oh well...just a few more weeks...
Crow - The only way I can get comfortable anymore is to sleep on my back, propped up. I have heard that as long as you are not totally FLAT on your back that you are ok. I can't stand being totally flat on my back anyway.
Brink - Awwww- Isn't she cute????!!!! Don't you just adore getting to see her pics. I swear, we got Ava's like 3 weeks ago and I still look at her little face everyday. Definately puts all of this trauma in perspective :) Your little angel is just adorable!!
randysmandy - Happy Birthday!!! I didn't realize that we were the same age too!! I turned 25 in December. So glad that you had fun on your trip!! Yeah, things are going ok with the whole issue I am having. I got all worked up about it on Saturday morning, when I allowed myself to obsess about it as usual. I really don't think its going to be so bad, I think am just overreacting. Sheesh! What Pregnancy does to a normally rational person is insane :) Thanks for asking though!!
cr8zyforaf - So sorry about your crappy weekend :( I know what you mean about the whole regsitry thing. We had very few people purchase off of mine as well. So, we still need to get the "big" things, like a swing, highchair, and travel system. I was surprised none of my relatives have really offered to get those things, but I digress....
wildcat - Hey there girl!! So glad to hear that your shower went so well!! We were the exact opposite as far as the clothes/other items ratio is concerned. I am positive the reason is bc we knew that the baby was a girl. I think if you know what your baby is, you end up with more of that stuff verus if you didn't know. Kind of makes me wish we didn't tell anyone, lol. Can't wait to see your pics!!!
beachbum - ROFLMAO -- HOW FUNNY!! I am totally with you on the mumu thing. This might be TMI -- But I pretty much strip down to my undies to sleep in at night. I am just so hot and uncomfortable that is the only way I feel ok. lol I am totally contemplating getting one myself!!

Well Ladies~ I am bleeding. I had a big gush of blood about 15 minutes ago. I got in the shower and am now waiting on the doctor to call me back :( I think I am going to have to go to the hospital. The baby is still moving around quite a bit but I am sooo worried. Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers.

Michelle - I hope that everything is ok. I will be thinking about you guys.
Wildcat - Looks like you had a pretty good shower :) Everything is coming together nicely.
Beachbum - Your MUMU story has me giggling.
Brink - What amazing pics!!! So cute!!
Randysmandy - Happy Birthday! Glad you had fun on your trip.
Not much new here. I feel wayyyyy bigger today and I noticed my ankles and toes are starting to swell a bit. My toes look like little sausages.
Addy has been moving like crazy - she is sooo busy - sometimes I worry if she moves too much. It doesn't seem like she sleeps very much...
Hope everyone else is doing ok and staying cool :)

wildcat - Your nursery looks great!
Beachbum - Don't feel bad, I have a mumu that I wear at night. I cannot wear anything that even touches by belly at night so I wear the old lady "house dress" as my mom calls it:)
randysmandy - Happy belated Birthday!
Brink - Your little one is so cute in that first picture.
Doing pretty well - still having lots of back and hip pain. I also have been having terrible heartburn - I remember it got really bad arounf this time last pregnancy.
We finished painting the trim and hanging blinds in my sons room so now we can work on the baby's room. We bought the paint and plan to paint this weekend and then I will work on the trim next week and organize the closet and gear the following weekend. I would really like to be done by the first week of August just to decrease my to do list. I plan on having her sleep in our room for awhile but I still like to have stuff done because what doesn't get done now will never get done.
Hope you all and your babies are doing well!

Cr8nme - I really hope everything is ok. I'll be anxiously awaiting to hear how you and the baby are doing. We're thinking of you.
3D - Thanks everyone for the compliments - I think she is pretty cute too!
Breastfeeding - we attending our bf class tonight. They make it sound so easy, but I know so many people have problems. The only problem is now my husband thinks it shouldn't be any problem to feed. He also thinks I'm going to bf for a year! I know it is good for Aimee, but I can't imagine having to pump at work for an entire year. We'll see when the time comes.

I am back from the hospital. Thank you for your prayers and thoughts. I have to go back tomorrow for a non-stress test and some more monitoring. They dont' know what caused the bleeding but...the ultrasound looks good (even mentioned that the baby has really long legs)and I am not dialted. Still bleeding with some clots. Hopefully everything will be okay. I am contracting about every 10 minutes or so but they aren't that strong I am just supposed to monitor them. More when I get back from the hospital tomorrow afternoon...

Michelle - Oh dear, hon. Sorry that you have to endure this right now :( The good news is that everything looked good on the monitors, and that they sent you home is a good sign. You and I are due on the same day, so as of Saturday, we will both be 34 weeks. As you know, Ava has been attempting to make her appearance early as well, and my OB said as long as I make it to this Saturday, there is virtually no chance that she will have any siginficant problems from being born prematurely. So just relax, monitor those contractions and we'll keep praying for you. I am positive everything will be ok. So scary though. Take Care sweetie!!!

Michelle - I'm so glad that everything checked out ok last night!! Good luck today and take it easy. I'm sure it's very scary (especially since you and I have had our fair share of bleeding during our pregnancies!), but the fact that everything looked good last night is a very good sign. When I'd asked my dr. about preterm labor, he said anything after 32 weeks they don't even worry about at all. Keep us posted!
I have good news to share!! I took the last 2 parts of the CIA exam (Certified Internal Auditor) in May and got my results last night, I PASSED!!! I'm officially a CIA now!! I was so worried that I hadn't passed the last part (it was really hard for me to study 5 months pregnant as I just get tired so much easier) and would have to worry about taking the exam again in November with a newborn, but now I don't have to worry!!!
I ran a few errands last night and picked up a robe, another pair of pajamas for the hospital and then Lansinoh nipple cream and Lansinoh breast pads.
Question for second time moms that nursed with your first babies - did you use Lansinoh cream and if not, which brand? Which brand of breast pads did you like best? I just wanted to cross more things off my list so I bought them while I was there! ;)
knzbound
07-19-2005, 09:18 AM
I did use Lansinoh cream. A lot goes a long way, I found, so no need to buy more than one tube. After the initial week or two, you probably won't use it much, if at all.
Breast pads--I liked the Medela washable ones. They are really soft flannel cloth, pretty thick. I hated the Gerber disposables--too tiny and scratchy.
Michelle--Sorry about your scare. I'm so glad everything is okay! I'll keep you and baby in my thoughts.

I can't believe how long it's been since I've been in here! And I really can't believe that we have BABIES!! Mitty congrats on the arrival of your precious boys! I'll be praying for them to continue to grow stronger each day and that you and your family adjust well to these new changes!
I have not gone back to read a thing, other than the info on the babies. Forgive me for the lack of shout outs!
I was out of town for several days and then my sister and nephew came for a week long visit. It was great to see them, but I was exhausted by the time they left!
We have finished our breastfeeding class and are halfway through with our labor & delivery class and one called getting ready for baby. I feel like we're getting really good, useful information. Now let's see if I remember any of it during labor or once the kiddo is here!
My shower was a week ago Sunday. It was wonderful! We had about 40 guests (many of whom had not seen my very pg belly) so it was great to visit and celebrate this baby. I'd say half of my gifts were off of my registry and the other half were clothes, blankets, etc. I got a lot of 0-3 clothes, so I may need to stock up on the bigger sizes. I still have one more shower, so I plan to go shopping after that one. I'll post pics as soon as their uploaded.
Brink! Thank you so much for the towel set and Pat the Bunny! My DH loves the way that book smells
I had my 32 week check up and u/s yesterday. The good news is that the cyst they've been monitoring has finally slowed its growing. Last month it was 5.8 cm and this month it was 6.0 cm. The doc was really happy with that. The not so good news (for me anyway) is that the baby is measuring 5 lbs already...I still have 8 more weeks to go! The doctor is estimating it could be between 8.5 and 9 lbs at birth. He's ordered another u/s at 36 weeks to remeasure the baby and he said we'll start making plans then if the baby seems too big. He said the practice does not like to forcefully induce labor so they wouldn't do that but he did say they would encourage a c/s because of my size. He said ultimately it's my decision, though, so if I want to try for a vaginal birth (he said women deliver big babies every day) I can. I'm trying not to freak out about this, there's really nothing I can do to change things. I just have to relax and wait until my 36 week u/s. UGH! We also talked about what we do if I went into labor early. Basically, if labor starts between now and 35 weeks, they would do what they could to stop it. If it starts between 35 & 37 weeks they would give me shot to help develop the baby's lungs a little more. After 37 weeks, it full steam ahead! My next check-up appointments are August 1st and 16th. My next u/s is August 15th.
I'm going to try to go back and catch up a little and find out what's going on with all of you. I hope everyone is doing well and baking those babies still!

PrincessCrappy - welcome back. I was starting to wonder if everything was ok since we had not heard from you in a while. Glad all is fine. You are very welcome for the gifts. I just put my thank you card in the mail today, but I'll say it here too - Thank you for the Bobby and cover. After my bf class last night, I know I will be using it a lot!
wildcat - Congrats on passing your CIA exam. I'm sure that is a HUGE relief.
Cr8nme - So glad to hear everything is ok.
I have my 30 week appointment with the Dr. this afternoon. Oh, and when I had the 3D, they said my placenta looked fine and there was no sign of previa left. However, since that was just the commercial u/s place and not the specialist my dr. uses, I don't know if he will accept that and let me come off pelvic rest or not. DH is keeping his fingers crossed! Otherwise, our next appointment with the specialist is at 35 weeks.
Take care and have great days.....

Hey guys...just wanted to give you an update. I have been leaking some fluid all morning. Not a whole lot to write home about, but the spot is definately getting bigger. I went to ask a co-worker for a pad or something, and she went to go talk to the nurses (I work for a health insurance company so there are Dr's and nurses in my building) and they told me I need to call my OB immediately as it could develop into an infection if it is a leak in my bag of waters...so right now i am awaiting a call back. I swear, I can't believe how many issues I have been having with this pregnancy!! Anyway -- hopefully they will check me out and all is ok. I really, really, don't want to be admitted at this point. I can't even beleive there is a chance I could have a baby sometime soon. Anyway -- please send some "ava stay in there" vibes to me!!!
