Nikki - Oh honey, you really are having a rough month, huh? I'm definitely glad you called the dr!! In my birthing class a few weeks ago, they explained that a slow leak can mean that the bag of water has broken up high (vs. down low when you get the gush) or that there is a small tear. Either way, you're supposed to remember TACO (time, amount, color and odor). A friend of a friend's water had a small tear/leak at 32 weeks and they kept her in the hospital until 34 weeks when they had her deliver. Good luck and STAY IN THERE AVA!! =)

Re: gift exchange...I had my gift sent directly from the company I ordered from so I was more concerned that she actually received it then receiving anything in return. Didn't want to sound greedy or anything like that ;)
I put together our changing table last night all by myself. Not that it was difficult by any means but I know that DH will be surprised when he gets home tonight that I did it all on my own :) See what can happen when you look at directions and the picture diagrams? :p
Addy has moved more towards my center - I am finally feeling kicks and pokes to the right of my belly button. She has been sitting so far left this entire time that it was a little strange to feel that first poke over on the other side. Other then my feet being swollen, my right big toe is causing me a lot pain today. I have had bouts of gout (yes, gout - as in the little old person thing!) and it is starting to flare up again. Talk about painful! It might be a good excuse to go home :)

Hey guys.
Thanks to everyone for your prayers and "Ava Stay Put" vibes. They did a couple tests and the fluid that I have leaked is not amniotic. They did say that I am all cramped up in there, so it might just be the baby has pressed on my bladder and I am leaking the other kind of fluid  I swear, pregnancy needs to come with a "how to" manual or something. Anyway -- I was contracting (AGAIN) so they just told me to take it easy and keep taking my meds. They did another test to determine my risk for preterm labor and it came back negative, so there is a 98% chance that Ava won't be making her appearance in the next 2 weeks!!! :D
I am going to head off to dreamland. This is was a crazy afternoon and I am beat!!!

Wow first me then Nikki! This thread is full of excitement. Just came back from my non-stress test and my doctor wants to see me tomorrow. I think everything is okay for now. Hopefully I will make it to term! The baby seems to be doing well and was kicking the monitors off and the nurse had to keep coming back to readjust them. No more contractions for right now. Thank you for all the thoughts and prayers.
Nikki~ I am glad that your water didn't break! I think you just have alittle dramatic one on your hands, lol Hope you are feeling well and I must say to Miss Ava~ STAY PUT!!!!

Wildcat - wow, you got a lot of goodies at your shower! I got the exact same boppy!! Love the nursery and bedding.
PrincessCrappy - great news about the cyst!
Brink - glad to hear placenta looks fine. Keeping my fingers crossed that you will be released from pelvic rest.
philnikki - glad to hear that everything is fine and that you are not leaking amniotic fluid. Boy, little Ava is giving you a fit...sending "stay put" vibes your way.
Cr8nme - glad to hear that everything is OK and that the baby is kicking around.
Nothing exciting going on here- feeling so heavy and so much pressure - the bean must be sitting right on my bladder - I have to go every 30 - 60 minutes and only dribbles come out...so frustrating. Feeling baby move around more and more and I am so tired all the time.
question - have any of you packed your hospital bag and if so, what have you put in them? I feel I need to do this but I have no idea what to pack.

Cr8nme and philnikki - I am sending stay put vibes to both of your kiddos!!! I am so glad that the tests went well and that both of your babies are moving well.
cr8zyforaf - I too am going to the bathroom every 60 minutes or so just to have a dribble - It feels like SO much more needs to come out and then I don't even feel any relief after I go.
Lansinoh and Breast pads - I too loved the Medela washable ones - so much softer than the disposible ones. I just hand washed mine in the sink if I didn't do laundry that day. At night I would wear a washable one and a disposible one because I leaked alot! I also used the Lansinoh cream religiously for the first three weeks after EVERY nursing session and my nipples never cracked. They were still sore for a few days, but the cream helps SO much. Remember after your baby nurses, let your nipple air dry and then put the cream on. Buy a very small tube as you might get samples in the hospital and it lasts forever!
hospital bag - Haven't packed mine but this time I will be taking far less than last time. I wore the hospital gown most of the time because it was cool and easy to nurse in - plus they had to do the laundry. This time I plan to bring sweatpants and t-shirts, a robe, a nursing bra, a one piece outfit for DD and toiletries.

Cr8nme and philnikki - Wow, what a crazy time! Sending baby stay put vibes for both of you!
cream/pads - lansinoh, hands-down. I got a free sample tube with my pump last time, and didn't even use that tiny thing. A little really does go a long way, so I wouldn't go buy the economy size, ya know? But it's great stuff! I can't remember what pads I did use, but I didn't really like any of 'em last time so I'm hunting a new brand too. Gerber did suck, both their disposables and their washables. the Lansinoh disposables were okay.
hospital bag - Heh, packed it? I haven't even been to the hospital yet to look at the place! I'm so far behind. I will also take way less than last time. I plan to take a nice stretchy loose dress for me to wear home, slippers, a couple of baby coming home outfits (1 each in a couple of sizes, DS had to wear premie even though he wasn't premie), the baby book, my cell phone, digital camera, food to nibble on, and toiletries.
FYI - at my last hospital, when DS was born, as long as we had the baby book there and the right page turned to, they stamped his foot and hand in there when they did their prints. Quite nice and handy of them.
wildcat - shower looks great! Congrats on the CIA!
Jo - I have rheumatoid for little old ladies, and since they take me off my meds every time I'm pregnant/breastfeeding, it's been hell! Hope it eases up on you, the gout! And congrats on the table. I'm going to attempt to put the crib together soon if DH doesn't get around to it this weekend.
I had my appt yesterday!
Doc was glad to hear that my blood sugar has been totally fine, she hypothesizes that they really fubar'd my test. I've gained 5 more lbs in 3 weeks, for a total of 29 lbs so far. She wasn't concerned but I sure was aggravated! She said to expect 1 lb a week from now on. She thinks he's still breech from what she can feel externally.... I'm measuring 32 weeks on my tummy. Next appt is July 27 for U/S and blood sugar followup, Aug 3 for next Ob check
I'm starting to really worry about the breech thing. I really do not want a C-section unless it's like an emergency type thing, not just cuz he's turned funny. But noone here does breech delivery vaginally and it is risky for the babe. Argh. Please send my baby flipping vibes!!
Oh, remod update funny. The contractor king - Jim, came by yesterday to have us sign some papers and to discuss the starting date, finally. I told him it had to be done by Sept 1st because I plan to give birth then (as if I could plan it, ha!). He laughed, said he thought he could manage that, then says "Well what do I get if I make it on time?" and DH says, "Oh we'll name the baby James, after you." He cracked up, having no clue that it was actually our name choice anyway. It'll be too funny when we bring the kid home and tell him the name. :)
Well girls, I better get to work. It's supposed to be 103 today so I don't see me getting a lot done.

Wildcat You got so many nice gifts and I am glad you had a good time at your shower.
Nikki I am so relieved that Ava is fine. Stay in there little girl! I also learned the same TACO in childbirth class as Wildcat did-isn't that funny. Also, not only are we the same age, but I was married on 8.15.04, not too far ahead of you!
Jo My baby is totally in front as well...there was a week where he was totally to my right side-where the seatbelt buckles basically. It's funny when he moves my bellybutton! The teacher said the other night" wouldn't it be funny if your BellyB's were a porthole so we could look in at the baby" That would be great!
So my ankles tuened into kankles last night and I got frightened. After reading what to expect it happens to 75% of prenant women and if it last more than 24 hours I should be concerned, but my ankles are back today. The himidity had been so high here, but today is a better.
hospital bag I learned in class that we should have our bag packed by 36 weeks but since I am a planner I may start next week (34 weeks)!
I am going to pack:
2 nightgowns (nursing ones)
3 pairs of underwear and a bra
2 pairs of socks
an outfit to go home in (and shoes of course!)
pads and nursing pads
music/cd player/cards/magazines
hairties
camera!!!!
outfit for baby
swimsuit for DH
BE SURE TO INSTALL THE CARSEAT AT 36 WEEKS.
Another 90 degree day UH!

Hey Ladies!
I have a doctors appointment today so I am about to get ready for that but wanted to say thanks for all the well wishes. Hopefully the doctor says all is well and its just something that happens. I am very tired right now and can't handle doing a lot. I am soo irritated b/c I woke up to a ton of mosquitoe bites which leads me to believe there is more than 1 in my house and DH has a big bite on his forehead
Hospital Bag Still haven't packed. I haven't even bought an outfit for the little one to come home in. I want it to be all white since I don't know the sex.
Nikki ~ Hope you are well. Hey I noticed that you are from Pittsburg have you heard of Frostburg State University? I went to college there.

Just got back from my pre-admission appt. at the hospital! It was easy, name of pediatrician, fill out forms for SS card, birth certificate, etc. One more thing off my list!
hospital bag - I'll just be 31 weeks tomorrow (so behind most of you so haven't really thought about PACKING the bag), but I have my lists made. I made 2 separate lists, one for the labor bag and one for the post-partum bag (which will just be a bag inside a bag), per recommendation of our childbirth instructor. I have the things I still need in blue font so that it's easy for me to tell, and I've been buying those things at lightening speed! I'll probably put everything (that I won't need everyday like cosmetics) in the bags and then have the list to toss the rest of the stuff in when I go into labor. As long as I have my list, I don't care if the bag is packed or not:).
going home outfits - As you know, we aren't finding out the gender, so I'm buying one boy and one girl outfit and will bring them both. I have gymbucks that start on Friday and I already have my girl outfit picked out (at least I think, I have to go see it in the store!):
this onsie:
http://s7ondemand1.scene7.com/is/image/Gymboree/140003240?$240x305$
with these pants:

with these socks:

and MAYBE this hat:

As far as a boy, I still haven't found anything, but as the stores are getting their fall stuff in, I'm watching!
Oh - and in the last few days, I've been thinking this baby is a boy. Not sure why, that feeling is just kind of there. I haven't really had a feeling either way the entire time. Just 9 more weeks!

Hello everyone!! Ava is still staying put, but let me tell you, this part is no fun. It turns out the fluid that came out was urine. I mean, ARG! So I ended up going to the hospital for what amounted to me peeing myself. I think I have completely lost any dignity I might have at at this point. I am wearing a pad today just for that. I don't even feel it coming out, but everytime I go the bathroom, there it is! Sheesh!!!
Labor Bag - We have ours partially packed. This is my list:
Robe (I was told not to pack nightgowns of my own bc they will just get messy...just to use the hospital gown and wear a robe when you need to go outside of our room).
Slippers
3 pairs of socks
6 pairs of granny panties
pads
nursing pads (disposable)
nipple cream
nursing bra
shorts to wear home (maternity)
large t shirt to wear home (maternity)
shoes to wear home
baby book
cameras (both digitals new and old, and a disposable one plus all chargers)
camcorder and charger
toothbrush
hairbrush
hair ties
shampoo
deodorant
make up
contacts and solution and case
glasses
magazines and books
Phil's Items:
3 pairs of boxers
3 pairs of mesh shorts
4 tshirts
4 socks
toothbrush
hairbrush
hair gel
cologne
razor and shaving cream
deodarant
Baby Bag:
Diapers
nuks
outfit for her pictures (yellow dress)
outfit to come home in (pink outfit)
2 receiving blankets
mittens for her hands
3 pairs of socks
booties for picture
wipes
her stroller toy
burp cloths
Car Items:
Have base installed
Have Stroller in Car
Have Window Shades Up
Put her Head rest in the Carrier
Sorry so long :( I just cut and pasted it from my own list. We have some things packed already. We plan to pack it up next weekend and get the car all ready!!! I will be 35 weeks then, so pretty much right on schedule. The diaper bag is already packed up though, so even if my stuff isn't ready to go, we have all of her stuff ready!! I know a lot of things we will get in the hospital, but I wanted to be prepared!
Cr8nme - yeah I know where that is!!! I used to go right past there on 68 all the time on my way to DC when I was in college (I went to WVU) I actually had a few friends go there! I also have my appointment today. I think its cool how closely all of our stuff has happened since we are due on the same day ;) I wonder if this is the last time we will have two weeks in between appointments??? I figure my OB will set the next one for 35 weeks 4 days and then once a week after that. I guess we'll see.
randysmandy That is weird! We got married 8.28.04, so yeah, right after you! We keep laughing about how the baby's birthday and our wedding anniversary could be on the same day even ;)
wildcat - LOVE the outfit! So cute!! And I totally forgot to wish you congrats on the CIA. That is also something I will need to get done here soon. That is really awesome. Phil thinks its hilarious that two Internal Auditors are managing this thread ;) lol Just a cool coincidence I guess ;)
Probably should get back to work! Phil is stopping by today to see my new office, so I am excited about that. Then its off to my appointment at 4:15. Then we are going to look at houses with a real estate agent!!! I am so excited. I love my townhouse, but we are just growing out of it already with her on the way. Heaven help me if I would get pregnant again before we move. Anyhoo -- have a great day!!

Today is soooo busy at work. Guess I can't complain since the last few weeks were quiet, but I'm paying for it now. Just a couple of minutes to catch up.
hisdaffodil - you are way nicer to your contractor than me. You are joking about naming your baby after him and when mine says, what if I don't finish on time - I tell him that he doesn't even want to go there and see what a pregnant woman will do when ticked off. I have them running scared (especially my DH!).
Breech - during our u/s last weekend (30 wks), Aimee is also sitting with her bottom down. I'm hoping she naturally turns in the next few weeks.
Hospital Bag - I haven't even had a single though about packing it. I think until our construction is done, I'm in total denial. I still seems like so far away - 9 weeks. I think once I get her room together, I'll feel more like it's real and I need to get moving. I'm hoping to have that done by the shower on August 13th.
Previa - well, even though the u/s showed the previa had moved back, the doctor won't release me from pelvic rest until he sees it himself. He said he would take a look at my next appointment which isn't for another 3 wks.
Well, back to my busy day......

Breatpump question - I just read on another thread (I know, I'm supposed to be getting back to work) that you should not reuse a breastpump. I was considering buying a used one from a friend (madela) and saving a bunch of money. Should I not do that? Has anyone heard about this?

Nikki~ I too think it is ironic how we are having so many of the same things. Wow you went to WVU. Yeah I remember those long drives on 68 to 70 to 270 just for my to get home, lol This is small world. I miss the Hagerstown outlets, I used to get some good deals there :p I had my appointment today and since I had the bleeding my doctor has put me on Week to week as of today. So I have another appointment next wednesday.
Wildcat~ So sorry... Congrats on passing your CIA and love the little girl outfit!
Brink~ Not really sure about that. I would think that all you had to do was boil it but I will ask around and try to get an answer for you.

Brink heres what it has to say but I would ask my doctor as well
Is it safe to use a previously-used breastpump?
No pump manufacturer recommends this practice. Here is what two major companies, Medela and Avent, have to say on this subject:
Medela, Inc.:
" Many mothers have asked if they can safely sell, purchase, or use a previously owned breastpump. Medela is concerned about the health and welfare of breastfeeding mothers and their babies. Breastfeeding is certainly the best way to feed your baby, and is the gold standard of infant nutrition. There is some evidence, however, that certain serious viruses* may be transmittable through breastmilk. For this reason, it is not advisable to use a previously owned breastpump. Breastpumps are single-user products, or personal care items, much like a toothbrush, and are registered with the FDA as single user items. For safety, breastpumps should never be shared, resold, or lent among mothers. Medela strongly discourages mothers from re-using or re-selling previously owned breastpump equipment. The Medela Pump In Style Breastpump has an internal diaphragm that cannot be removed, replaced, or fully sterilized. Therefore, the risk of cross-contamination associated with re-using a previously owned pump such as the Pump In Style cannot be totally dismissed. Multiple use of single-user breastpump automatically voids the warranty of the Medela product. Each mother who wishes to express milk with a pump should use a clean, uncontaminated breastpump. This is the safest way to eliminate any risk of cross-contamination. Rental pumps such as the Classic and Lactina pumps are made to be safely used by repeated clients who each use their own clean personal rental kit, therefore avoiding any possible cross-contamination. Rental pumps, when used according to the Medela instructions, are safe to use by multiple mothers who have their own personal kits."
Avent America:
"We at Avent America are always striving to provide mothers with quality products at reasonable prices to help them breastfeed longer. Research has shown that breastmilk can transmit many contagious viruses. It is for this reason that we strongly recommend that you NEVER use a previously owned breast pump. The Isis Breast Pump is considered to be a personal care item and has been designed to be for single use only. Mothers should never share breast pumps. Sharing or using a previously owned breast pump could put you and your baby at a potential risk for exposure to serious health risks. Some of the viruses that can be within breast milk are: HIV - Human Immunodeficiency Virus (AIDS) HTLV-1 Human T-Cell Leukemia Virus Type I CMV - Cytomegalovirus When you are using a previously owned breast pump you create the risk of cross contamination. It is for this reason that AVENT AMERICA STRONGLY SUGGESTS NEVER USING, BORROWING, PURCHASING OR SELLING A PREVIOUSLY USED/PRE-OWNED BREAST PUMP. Since a mother's breast milk is the most precious gifts of nutrition/health she can give her baby, DON'T take the chance of sharing someone else's viruses with your baby. "
If you still find a reason to use a previously-used pump, do take some precaution and try to replace every part which might come in contact with breast or milk. While this will not prevent all possible risks, it will greatly decrease them.

I can't believe how fast this thread moves these days! I've given up on trying to catch up on the stuff I missed, it's hard enough keeping up with the last 2 days!
Brink - I'm glad you liked your gift. I was worried when I received an e-mail from BRU saying they were sending the cover first. I didn't think anyone would be too excited about getting boppy covers and no boppy! As for the borrowed breast pump, I've heard that as long as you replace some the parts (like the tubing, etc.) it should be ok to use a used one. Although, the info Cr8nme found seems pretty convincing that you shouldn't do it (but then again, both Avent and Medela sell breast pumps so they obviously want every new mom to buy a new pump...)
Nikki - I am so glad to hear it wasn't amniotic fluid you were leaking! Stay in there, little Ava! I agree, there really should be a "how to" manual with pregnancy.
Cr8nme - Glad to hear you also got good news from the doctor.
Cr8zyforaf & AlisonCO - When all of the mom's at my birthing class were complaining about constant bathroom visits, our teacher recommended the following: before sitting on the toilet seat, lift up your baby (belly) and then sit down while your holding it up. You can let go once you sit down. She said most babies are squishing half of our bladders so only half is being emptied at a time. By lifting it up, you allow the fluid to move through the entire bladder. It's worth a shot...
Wildcat - I LOVE the coming home outfit you've picked out. I also have some gymbucks I plan on spending this week. I'm hoping to find a boy and girl outfit there, too!
Thanks to everyone that shared info about hospital bags. You've inspired me to start a list of things we'll need.
I'm feeling pretty good today, other than dealing with the unusual heat. It's usually mid to upper 70's here and today it's 97! Thank God for air conditioning!

Brink~ I just asked my aunt because I know there are people who share breast pumps and have no problems. Also that those manufacturers want everyone to flock out and buy one. She said that she had a used one from another family member and boiled the parts and boouhgt a couple of new parts like tubes and everything was fine. However she did say that she would advise to only use one from someone you know and trust becuase a lot can be carried in breast milk.

re: breastpumps--FWIW, I borrowed a Medela PIS from a very good friend and had no problems. I boiled all the parts before using. I might be a little warier buying used from Ebay or Craigslist. I think you have to trust your own comfort level on these things.

Breastpumps: I don't see why you can't use a used one as long as you clean it and get your own tubing/kit. You share pumps in the hospital since they certainly don't buy a new one for every new mom.
Hospital bag: Didn't have time to pack one but had DH bring me stuff: change of clothes for home (just wore johnny's in hospital), toiletries (they have stuff but didn't like any of it), camera, batteries, film, snacks, magazines, cell phone. Wish I had remembered: bathrobe, slippers (they will give you little socks there). Don't bother with underwear since you'll be wearing those big mesh ones with the biggest pads you've ever used. They will give you most of everything else you need there (just ask for stuff it they don't) i.e. nursing pads, hot packs, ice packs, breast cream, pads, johnny's, etc.). Also, don't pack too much stuff for baby - you won't need much except coming home outfit. They will give you diapers, vaseline/ butt cream, hat, etc.
My boys: They are doing good. Still on all sorts of monitors and oxygen but overall doing good. I've been spending lots of time at the hospital holding them when I can (only allowed during feeds). The rest of my time is spent pumping  ugh - getting very tired of that.

Mitty - So glad to hear all is going well with the boys!
No input on the breastpumps :) My SIL is using a used one and her dr wasn't the least bit concerned. Of course she sterilized everything. Like Mitty said, the hospitals don't go out and buy new ones all the time. I guess it depends on your comfort level too.

The first time, I brought way too much stuff.
So, this time, I will pack:
Onesie
pacifiers
nail scissors
nursing bra
toothbrush/toothpaste
hairbrush
mascara & lip gloss (for pictures)
socks
something comfy to wear home
Oh and an extra bag to carry home all the free goodies the hospital gives me. :D
I had my OB appointment today. All is good, Anthony is head down and way low. I complained about groin pain and she wrote a prescription for a maternity belt. I think I'll get it and just use it for times when I'll be on my feet alot (like shopping). My next appointment is August 3rd. I'll probably start on a subdose of Zoloft at my next appointment as I had severe PPD after my first pregnancy and we hope to catch it before it hits this time around.

Nail clippers for baby, definitely! Our hospitals here do not cut baby's nails. Poor DS had scratches all over his face within minutes of birth from his long nails. So take the clippers or some mittens or baby gets all scratchy!
And ditto what Mitty said about them giving ya stuff. I wasn't in love with the mesh panties and super size pads, but I wore them and needed them! Good idea to bring an extra bag though!
Breastpumps - I borrowed an electric briefly last time, to try it out. We sterilized the tubing and such first and then after. I decided electric pumps weren't for me. I have known several mommies that got used ones from friends and whatnot. I could maybe see a problem if it's one where the milk goes into the system itself and can't eb sterilized well. But my little Avent handheld all came apart and every single piece could be sterilized!
cr8 - I think it depends on the temps in Sept there. It starts to be just a big cool here around then, so I was looking for pants for a bring home outfit too. In the picture, it looks thin enough to be okay, plus babies are usually colder than us anyway. And honestly, the babe will only be outside in that heat briefly to get to teh car and to the house. Should be okay, and it's cute! :)
Mitty - good to hear about the boys!! I think about them a lot! How big are they now??
Sandie - I wondered if you could hear it with those!! Wish I had some!
thanks for posting your hospital bag lists! it would make me feel better to get it packed early. we seriously looked like we were moving into the hospital last year!! :) i was induced though and then had a csection so i think we were there 3-4 days!
breastpump: the avent isis handheld pump worked well for me. i mainly used it only in the morning and pumped one side while she nursed from the other. i'm a stay at home mom though so it wasn't necessary to have a lot of milk stored in the freezer. if i needed to pump any more often, i prob. would have bought an electric.

So I had a great appointment with the OB yesterday! This was my last appointment where I will have to wait 2 weeks in between. After my next appointment on August 3rd it will be every week!! I can't beleive how close I am getting!! Also at my next appointment, she will do an internal and test for GBS. She will also order my ultrasound then to check the baby's position. Now for the good news: I am measuring a full 37 weeks right now!!!! Everyone kept telling me I looked huge, and ready to go, and it turns out, I am :) lol She told me that because the baby might get too big, we might start talking about inducement at my next appointment!!! Woo Hoo!!!!!! I can see the light, ladies!! Also, I am supposed to stop taking the procardia in two weeks too! So exciting!!
We have our appointment with the pediatrician we picked for Ava tonight, so if there are any good questions you guys can think of that I should ask, bring them on!!
We also will be pre-registering at the hospital today!!!
Breast Pumps - I am a total newbie at this, but I have heard it was not safe to re-use one, but I also know of people who did and had no problems, so I think its a personal choice. I am not sure how breast feeding is going to work out for me and the baby, so we are going to rent a pump from the hospital until we know for sure how this is going to work, and then I will look at purchasing one.
Well ladies, have a great day!!!

Well ladies I was up at 3 am... Why you ask b/c I lost my mucus plug  I am in shock. I am even in denial that it wasn't what it was. I am pretty sure it was it from the amount and color. Any of the 2nd time moms care to shed some light?
Nikki~ Wow so in less than 3 weeks you are going to have baby huh! You had an exciting doctors appointment. I can't wait to see this little Ava!

Cr8nme - OMG!!!! I don't want to scare you or anything, but when my friend lost her plug, she was in labor within 24 hours. Did you call your OB??? This is so exciting!! I bet everything will be just fine with the little one. Just try to stay calm (as I am FREAKING out typing this lol). Keep us posted!!! BTW -- if you need a labor buddy, you are welcome to contact me to keep everyone posted. Just send me an email to nicolez@healthplan.org, and I will respond back with my personal phone etc, so we can all be informed ;) lol
Take care a GOOD LUCK!!!

Cr8nme - Was your plug tinged with blood? Last time around, I lost my plug, or at least a good portion of it, three weeks before I actually delivered. WARNING - gross- I wouldn't have even known it, except that I checked the tp after I wiped and noticed what appeared to be a the biggest, thickest glob of snot I had ever seen. Three weeks later, on the day I delivered, I lost the rest of my plug, which contained some blood. You can lose portions of your plug at a time - good luck!
Hospital bags - I haven't even thought about it. I'm just bringing a camera, some pjs, personal toiletries and a going home outfit for baby. Last time I wore the shorts and shirt that I wore to the hospital home from the hospital as well. The one thing I do recommend is a pair of throw away flip flops or shower shoes - I know they clean the showers, but I can't help thinking that I am in the maternity ward, and everyone who uses the showers has a lot going on down there. Like the others said, anything else that you think you might need either for yourself (pads, undies, nurising pads, cream), or baby (diapers, wipes, formula, A & D ointment), the hospital will provide. We ended up coming home with way more stuff than we arrived with, not including DS. ;)
Breast pumps - There is no reason why you can't use a used electrical pump. Your breast milk never comes in contact with the actual machine. Its the external parts that can become contaminated if not sterilzed properly. If you use or rent a pump from the hospital, the machine itself is not going to be brand new, only the parts. Last time I used my cousin's pump and sterilized the attachments. I didn't have any problems.
Hope everyone is feeling good. We're getting close!

I am so jealous of all you girls who are having activity and may go early. I was told at my appointment yesterday that I am measuring right on (33.5) and probably won't go early. I know a lot can change in month but D*AMN....I deserve to go early :D .
Cr8nme - great news about the plug. Have you called your OB? I know many people who have lost their plug or part of the plug and then not gone into labor for weeks  ...
Breast pumps - I heard it was not a good idea to reuse a pump but as long as you sterilize everything - I don't see what the problem is. I plan on renting one first through the hospital to see if it is something I can do before I plunk down $300 to purchase one.
Hospital Bags - thanks for all the great advice - I would have never thought I needed clippers and I would have not been thinking of shower shoes. I plan on packing mine this week - I had hopes of going early...probably not going to happen.
I have a car situation - we purchased a two door Honda about 1.5 years ago (stupidest thing I've done) and now I need to trade it in. We are going to end up having to take a loss because I haven't had the car for that long. I am totally depressed about it and have been putting off doing anything - I want to trade it in for a Honda Pilot. So, we have to make a decision on that over the next two weeks - all the books say you should have the car seat installed by 36 weeks - just one more thing to worry about.

Nikki - Congrats on a great dr appt!
Thanks to those who mentioned needing nail clippers. I had no idea! What would we do without you second time moms?
Well, I bought a bottle of Dreft at Target yesterday and I'm going to start baby laundry today. I was beginning to think I'd wait a little longer, but the more I read here, the more unpredictable things seem! Since I have time this week to do it, I better get it done! Here are some pics from my shower and some of the great gifts we received (this will give you a good idea of the amount of laundry I have to do...).

Trust me - you don't want to go too early - not before 37 weeks anyway.
Breast pump: Check with the lactation consultant - your insurance may cover one for free. Mine did.
Hisdaffodil: Matt hit 3 pounds today (Yay!) and Sam still has 3 oz to go before he'll be 3 pounds but he's catching up.
Daycare is closed today and tomorrow. My brother came up to babysit so I could go to the hospital but Jake is having some serious separation anxiety so I can't go. I can't even go to the bathroom without him crying hysterically. I feel so bad that i can't see Matt & Sam but I'll go tonight when Jake goes to bed.

Nikki ~ I haven't called my OB but I guess I should. I always feel so bad calling for somethign that might be nothing :o I hope I don't go into labor in 24 hours! My doctor said he wants me to make it to 35 weeks then he will feel better about delivering. I will keep your email handy b/c I may need it
Dettes ~ Exactly what you described is what I had. I went to the bathroom around 3 am and checked my toilet paper(especially since I had that bleeding episode earlier this week) and just like you said it was a big glob of something that looked like snot. More than I have ever had in life from what I could recall and it was kinda yelllowish but when I wiped again more was there in smaller quanitity and it was brownish. No red blood though... So maybe I have more to come like you did ?? It was gross.
Cr8zy ~I haven't called my doctor but I feel like it could be weeks, lol or I am hoping that I have at least 2 weeks then I will be 36 weeks.
Carrie ~ I am not contracting but I do feel a littel bit of tightening. I better hurry up and order that outfit  Oh and your shower looked great and you got a lot of nice stuff!!!

Carrie - What a gorgeous shower and look at all that loot!! I'm going to start washing baby things this week, too. I figure that's an easy one to cross off the list!;)
Cr8nme - How exciting!! We also learned out our birthing class that losing the MP can mean labor is hours away or 6 weeks away. Hopefully that little baby stays put for just a bit:). I agree, I'd call your dr. and just give them the fyi.
Mitty - Sorry you can't go see the boys today:(. They will be home before you know it and everything will be "normal"! :D
[qotd - [/b]Are any of you more sensitive or emotional right now? I was working with my manager on something earlier and she wasn't being mean per se, but was coaching me on how to handle something and the entire time I just felt like I was going to burst into tears. Honestly, I'm still not over it. Normally work never bothers me, but I just get so overwhelmed sometimes with my staff asking so many questions and then my manager can be a bit short when she gets stressed, and I don't have time to get my own things done, etc. I just want to go home and cry.:(
On the way to work this morning, I'd taken about 2 bites of my cereal bar when I started getting really strong stomach pains. They were up high on my left side and also bothering my back and I was getting hot flashes. Anyone ever experience that? At the beginning it just felt like indigestion which I get in the mornings sometimes as I'm eating (which I don't understand how it happens on an empty stomach??), but within a few mins it was pretty painful and I called DH and he asked why I was calling him, call the dr. I asked him, and say what, I have some strange strong cramping/pains? It eventually went away, but I wish I knew what it was? The baby was moving around like CRAZY this morning from about 5am on, so maybe the movement had upset my stomach or something?

Oh -and I forgot to mention it - but we have names for the baby picked out, finally!!! Sorry I can't mention them here, we're keeping them a secret and I have too many pregnant friends that also come here on occassion:). The boy name I've been pushing for awhile, it just seems perfect to me, and DH decided yesterday that he really likes it. The girl name we've been throwing around for a few months (the only one we've agreed on) and I think we're going with that, but I'm going to keep looking, also. It feels so good to have possible names for this little baby, I was worried we'd have no clue on the day the baby was born!

I didn't mean to sound inconsiderate about going early - mittyrd - I hope I didn't offend you. When I said early, I was thinking the end of August....I really don't want to go past my due date, which my doctor told me is a likely possibility.
Carrie - beautiful shower!! Look at all of your goodies - wow - how many people attended?? That is A LOT of clothes. I was given the advice of leaving the tags on some of the 0-3 months stuff since you have no idea how big the baby will be and how fast it will grow - my friends who have kids said that many of their 0-3 went unworn because they got so much stuff and the baby grew so fast, there was not enough time to wear everything.
wildcat - what did the doctor say about the pains? I have that sometimes but it is followed by diarrhea (tmi)...which I have really bad at this point.
Cr8nme - I would call the doctor- but not before you order that cute little outfit!! Sending "stay put" vibes your way!
mittyrd - so sorry your eldest is having separation anxiety...that can't be easy.
I am feeling cr*ppy today - heartburn is awful and lots of groin pain. I just want to go home and kick my feet up.

Hi all - just poping in to say HI.
I have to agree with what some of the others have said - you really do not want to have your babies early if at all possible. I know it is so hard and so uncomfortable but it is worth it to get to your due date. I remember last time I really set myself up for frustration and I really almost had a breakdown about it. I was 1cm and 70% at 35 weeks and at 37 weeks I was 3cm, 90%, 0 station and loosing my mucus plug. At 38 weeks I lost more MP and it was bloody - usually "the "sign. My OB and her nurse kept saying it would be any day, that I wouldn't go to my DD etc... Well my son was born at 41 weeks, 1 day. I guess I tell you all that because you just never know what is going to happen during pregnancy. I would have bet money last time that I would have gone early and was dissappointed and frustrated everyday. Also not to be a total downer, but 70+% of first time pregnancies go to 41 weeks!!! Again I only say this to make sure that no one sets themslef up to be more frustrated then need be.
I am going to go do some painting while DH and DS are out - Hope that you all have a great evening!

Alison~I totally agree with you. Although I feel like it is exciting to be having some signs and a little one soon. I have said that I sure hope he or she stays in there at least two more weeks. I say that to say that I really don't want my little one to have to stay in NICU or have any problems at birth that baking for a little while longer would have cured. Wow from your story I would have thought for sure that you would go early too! That just goes to show us that our babies come when they want to

cr8nme - You are so calm about the whole MP thing. I would have been freaking out and calling my doc right away. I hope your little one stays put just a little longer. Good luck.
Carrie - Wow on the shower. That is a ton of stuff you guys raked in. My shower isn't until August 13th - still seems very far away.
Wildcat - Yes, totally more emotional than before. I would say I have been pretty even all through the pg. I haven't cried or had any real fits or anything. But, yesterday we got bad news from the remodel front (see below) and I actually got hysterical. First time that has happened. I blamed it on the pg and that made me feel a little better.
Remodel - well, things have been going well up until yesterday. We had the drywall complete and textured. My DH started painting this afternoon (primer coat). But, we had a huge ordeal yesterday with our kitchen cabinets. Turns out the person ordering them messed up and one of my cabinets won't be here until the first week of August. The contractor is coming on Monday to start the installation. If he can't start, then I can't do my floors, which means I can't carpet, which means I don't have a chance of getting Aimee's room done before the shower on the 13th. I got the cabinet person on the phone and completely lost it. I would say it is the worst I have ever been, between the yelling and the crying, I'm surprised the woman didn't hang up on me. So, after all of that, I called the contractor (still with cracking voice) and asked if there was anything the can do. They said they will install the rest of the cabinets and leave a space for that one and it won't hold us up. Hopefully that is the case and we will stay on track. DH had a horrible time today with someone hanging our exterior doors which put him in a horrible mood. I'm also super busy and stressed at work - I just can't wait for the next month to be over!
Breastpumps - Thanks for all the feedback. I haven't completely made up my mind. Part of me says to just use the machine and then there is that little nagging part that says - but what if? The person that it belonged to, I know pretty well. They are nice people, good family and I don't know of any illnesses they could have had. Still not sure - guess I'll see what we get for our showers and evaluate how much $$ we still need to spend on things.

Brink - I also know a lot of people who have used "used" breastpumps. For me it is a no-brainer because we have lots of food allergies in our families (both sides) and I don't want to take any chances.. Ultimately, you'll decide what's comfortable for you!
Michelle - Thinking of you! I bet the babe will hold off a little while, but do keep us updated.. Everything will be fine!!

Hi Everyone!
Cr8nme - Anything new? You do seem very calm about the MP. Hope everything is ok. Did you call your doctor?
Brink - Sorry to hear about your remodeling woes. Remodeling is tough - you have to rely on one thing before you can do another. We still don't have sheetrock up yet. I have been told it will be happening this weekend...we will see. I have surprisingly calm and patient about everything (for the most part) but I feel a major melt down coming on!
Emotional - Actually I have been quite the opposite - almost too laid back.
cnm - I haven't seen you post yet on the new boards - hopefully you have found your way over. Thank you for the baby gifts :) I love the pink hat!! So cute!
Not much new going on here. I feel bigger and bigger everyday! Today is ouru/s and reg. scheduled dr's appt!. I am soooo excited to see Addy!!
Question: Is anyone having professional belly shots/maternity photos done? We found a great photographer that we really like. She will do the maternity shots for free if you do a newborn package too. I am trying to decide if we want to do it. I wouldn't want a pg belly shot hanging on the wall in my house but it might be nice to include in Addy's scrapbook.

Morning ladies! Just a quick post to say hello! Had my doctor's appt yesterday... everything is going well - just starting to feel *really* big! (and I have a longs ways to go too!)
Took the GD test - bleh!! Won't find out the results until Monday, but crossing everything that I passed.
re: a few of the questions above
Breast pump - I know at work we have a hospital grade pump in the lactation room & the mommies (they're aren't very many) bring in their own attachments. I was planning on using it too when I came back. Otherwise, I will probably buy one for the house, but want to see how BFing goes first.
Cre8me - wow, crazy about your MP! I hope your little one stays put for awhile, but that is amazing! I still feel like birth is a long way off... I have a feeling that I am going to go late...
Feeling emotional - I've been okay, pretty normal (although maybe I should ask DH? :p ) but I have had a few "breakdown" moments throughout the pgcy.
Professional belly shots - nope! I really should take a few more pg pics though... I read in the "regrets" thread that a lot of mom's wish they hadn't been so camera-shy during pgcy!
mitty - I've been thinking of your and your nest of boys!! Hope all is going well.
I am feeling the need to get "stuff" for the baby! My showers are on 8/7 (small work shower) and 8/27 (family shower)... I don't think I can hold out that long! :D

Michelle: I wouldn't wait until your contractions are 1-2 minutes apart. You'll be having that baby in the car. i think they usually say to call when they are 5 minute apart (I called when they were 10 minutes apart and they were 3-4 minutes apart by the time I got to the hospital.

1-2 min apart! Mittyrd is right.....5 minutes is the "key" time according to everything I read and hear.
Mitty I can only imagine how it must feel not to be able to bring your babies home and to have missed your last trimester..but look on the bright side..they are OK and they are growing everyday-one day closer to you bringing them home.
Sandie There has got to be a way out of that-did you call the court?
Hunter is a maniac today. I work on the computer all day (architect) and he was flipping and turning all over the place. I call them lumps, but they are his feet or knees. Anyways-all morning the "lumps" have been crossing my belly and pocking me. It's nauceating at times but SO cool. I had to stand up and work at one point! His feet are usually on my right side, but he must have turned and they are on the left side today. Amazing.

Hi everyone,
I hadn't checked WC since the end of June, right before our 10 day trip to Los Angeles (parents' home) and Mammoth Lakes, east of Yosemite. Then things got crazy for me as far as work and I didn't log on to WC and Constant Chatter until yesterday night. I just spent the last several hours reading all 31 pages and catching up with how all of you are doing. So many changes!
I have a notebook next to my computer and I promise to do shout-outs, but for now I want to post this on constant chatter to make sure this works. I was having difficulty yesterday night.

Dr's Appointment
Yesterday was our u/s and dr. appointment. The u/s went well - Addy is still head down. She is pretty smushed in her "home" so the 3D pics the tech tried to get of her little face didn't turn out to great. We could make out her eyes and her nose - and it looks like she has her daddy's nose ;). The dr. reviewed the u/s report and said everything looks wonderful. My cervix is closed up tight and since I haven't been having any more contractions he was really happy. She weighs 3 lbs, 10 oz. which is small (9th percentile) for how far along we are but he wasn't concerned because A. I am very petite and B. her growth chart has been steady and consistent. What else, oh, I gained 2 pounds from my last appointment so I am up 30 pounds total.
Hope everyone has a good weekend.

If this is the real thing, best wishes for an easy pain free delivery!
(If it's false, a big fat boo to Braxton Hick. I'm having contractions myself today, but they are not terribly strong, just a little painful.)

Michelle, in my first pregnancy, I had contractions for a month before I went into labor. They would never regulate and they never intensified. They were just annoying and uncomfortable.

Weren't some of you just talking about being more emotional than usual? I guess today was my day for a breakdown...
I've been unusually calm about labor & delivery throughout this entire pg. I'm normally a huge worrier, but for some reason I've been ok with that aspect of being pg. That is...until last night and this afternoon. Last night was our third L&D class where we covered c-sections. I've always wanted to avoid a c-section if possible and after the class, I am even more determined to avoid one. The videos we watched were just terrifying. Now that we know this baby is on the big side, I am just petrified that the doctors are going to insist that I have a c-section. (Any second time mom's have a c-section? I would love to hear about your experience). As if my emotional state weren't screwed up enough, we had our hospital tour this afternoon. I was fine when we were in the lobby just doing a q&a session, but I lost it when we went into the birth pavillion. I seriously felt like I was having an anxiety attack when we were checking out the labor room. It seemed so scary and I felt so unprepared to go through labor. The tourguide mentioned using the shower, repositioning the bed to help with labor positions, etc. and I just freaked out about not knowing when or how to do those things. I swear, my heart is even racing now as I just think about it. After the tour I told Scott that I would like to look into hiring a doula for our delivery. I said that I want someone with us that knows the hospital, can suggest different things to try during labor and help me do anything possible to avoid ending up with a c-section. Well, of course Scott took it as I was saying that he was incapable of being a good coach for me, and he would be pushed out of the event with the presence of a doula. I end up hysterically crying in the car because I just can't believe he is turning this into an issue about him! We've both cooled off now and will talk about it more later. Basically, I am just really scared, really, really, scared. Not only am I feeling unprepared for labor, I am unprepared for these feelings since they just snuck up on me. Can anyone else relate or am I all alone in my craziness??

Now that I got that off my chest, how about a nice, normal reply?
Michelle - Prayers have been said and fingers crossed: I hope that baby stays put for a few more weeks!
Sabre - Contractions for a MONTH?? AHH!
jo&sean - Congrats on a good dr visit! I haven't decided about pro belly shots. I have a friend that is an amazing photographer that really wants to take them, I'm just not sure that they're my thing.
Brink - Hoping that the remodel starts to improve.
Thanks to everyone for the nice comments on my shower. We really did get almost everything that we need. We feel super lucky to have such generous friends and family!
We picked up our stroller and carseat today. Of course, I was still crying while we were in the store, but I'm sure they're used to crazy pg ladies! Hopefully we'll get the carseat installed and inspected in the next couple of weeks. I'm 33 weeks now, only 48 more days!

Emotional/hormonal moments...
Have you guys had any that really stand out as funny (after the fact of course) during your pregnancy?
My DH was grilling steaks out and he has recently started putting pepper on his steak. I don't like pepper on steak, but he put some on mine instead of asking first. I flipped out, and started crying my eyes out. Over steak. i made him wipe the pepper off after chewing him out good.
I've since apologized for my behavior :D
How ridiculous is that :)?

Princess Crappy - Oh, what a bad day!! I'm so so sorry. I completely understand your fears & I'm sorry that DH took your doula suggestion the wrong way. I think that you should talk to your doctor about your fears regarding the c-section... they will hopefully be able to ease some of your anxiety.
Also, remember that you (and all of us!) *can* do this!! It is totally normal to have L&D fears - I'm sure my panic attack is just around the corner - but I know that each and every one of us will come through okay!
This is such a strange time, hang in there!

it's been a while since I posted, but I have been reading along...
I think I may be the last in the group, my due date is 9/30.
michelle - I hope your little one stays put too. I've heard of women loosing their MP weeks before delivery. This is some scary stuff you are dealing with. I'm sending you lots of "stay in there" vibes.
princesscrappy - I'm sorry for your emotional day dealing with the reality of labor. I tend to get very emotional when I think about it too! One thing to mention to your DH about a doula is that they never would push a father out of the way, they are support for both of you as a unit or team. We hired one and it's been such a great thing. My DH has had some reservations, but we've worked through them and we feel very empowered about the upcoming birth. I've learned a tremendous amount from her and she is a great source of information for us, but never tells us what or how to do things are choices to make. No matter what happens, I know we will be able to work through it together and with her help. It might be worth just interviewing some doulas to see if it would help you both. Definitely talk to your doctor about your c-section worries. I'm sure they will be able to help you work through them as well. My Dr. is a single practictioner and I just found out he may be out of town the week of my due date. After an initial panic, I realized that I'm really glad we have the doula especially because of this possibility. Good luck.
princesscrappy~ i had a csection with my 1st and will be having another on sept. 6th. i'm feeling calm about it all right now but i'm sure as the day approaches, i'll be very nervous! i would be nervous either way b/c whether i delivered naturally or by c section, i'm still a wimp. :D my 1st c section was actually wonderful........it was a huge relief and i was just so glad for it all to be over and finally be holding my daughter!! anything specifically you are afraid of that i could talk about? i'll be happy to answer any questions. :)

Princess Crappy--I'm so sorry about your panic attack. I think it is a perfectly natural thing and sometimes the birth prep class is just the thing to send you into a tailspin about actually having to go through L&D. I remember my SIL couldn't sleep for like two nights after her birth class because it just freaked her out so badly. Also, it is a huge unknown...and unknowns are always a bit scary. Heck, I'm a second-timer and I am still scared to go through it again, but this time it is more about the known aspects of L&D, if that makes sense?
I delivered vaginally, so I can't really ease your fears about c-section. I do know, however, that in my exp., as labor went on and on, I really started wanting that baby OUT of my body, however it had to happen.
Do you have a lot of IRL friends with babies? I was one of the last of my friends to have a baby, and many already had two by the time I gave birth and I would just think about every single one of my friends and thought if...J and D and S etc. etc. etc. did it, I can do it, too, just like the millions of women before me.
Chin up. I hope you feel better soon. :)

Hi girls!
We had our last vacation as a foursome last week and it was SOOOO nice. I didn't want to come home!
Unfortunately, I get sick and/or heartburn EVERY time I eat. I'm pretty miserable most of the time. I'm either hungry, burping or fighting the urge to vomit. I keep telling myself that I have less than 7 weeks to go now (based on my c-section date) and that it will fly. But, geeezzz.....I'd just like to feel good, really good, for ONE day.
Someone else mentioned hormones and crying. Good grief! I could keep Kleenex in business by myself right now! I feel like a big ol' frump. I feel so unattractive, undesirable, blah! Sucks big time!
I'm such a downer! I don't mean to be. I'm just feeling sorry for myself. While I'm so thankful to be pregnant, I'm also looking forward to eating a meal and NOT feeling sick!

princesscrappy - I am a first timer. and I am completely petrified of the whole idea of labor. I am more worried that I am not going to do it right, as weird as that sounds. Like I am afraid of failing my daughter. But, I just keep thinking about how many women deliver perfectly happy and healthy babies everyday, and that helps ease my fears a little.
Michelle - Any news?? How are those contractions coming? Sending out "stay put" vibes for you and baby. And also, my OB put me on procardia to ease my contractions. Might be a consideration for you, bc I know i can't deal with these for a month! Probably at most, only 6 weeks left for us!! We can do it!!!
solongtogo - Your steak story was hilarious!!! The only emotional breakdown I had was when I thought I wasn't feeling her move for a whole day and I completely flipped out on DH when he suggested that I was overreacting. ;)
beachbum - great belly shots!! When I finally get a minute, I will try to get this thread updated ;)
As for me, we had my hubby's 30th birthday party yesterday. It went well, but I am totally beat. I feel like someone kicked the crap out of me today. And to make matters worse, today we are going to have a heat index up over 100 degrees and this is the email that greeted me this morning:
The ac unit that serves the front half of the building is not working. I put in a service call. They will try to get here today.
I mean, WTF???? I cannot sit here today in this heat!! Sheesh. I am already feeling sick from it. Arg. As if sitting at my desk wasn't tough enough at 34 weeks, now I have to deal with this???? ARG!
Well guys take care!! I am sure I will be around today.

I am just a hormonal emotional mess right now also. And to top that off, we've spent the past month buying our first house, we close this Friday. Then we're moving next Wed. Hopefully I'll have a month to get things unpacked and to get settled in before the baby arrives.
Just wanted to drop off a 32 week belly shot. I am HUGE, but I already know that we have big babies in our family, my DD was 8lb7oz and nearly 22 inches long. So I'm expecting a larger baby this time around.

Well ladies...my baby shower was yesterday. It was such a good time, but it was SO hot out and since it was outside, that didn't help matters. By the end I was completely exhausted (I feel your pain Nikki). About 60 people showed up :) But since my mom had chairs on the deck and lawn people were seperated, which wasn't good, but I think everyone had a nice time. I received everything on my registry except the bigger carseat, which we can get later and the crib bedding-yah the ONE thing I totally wanted!!! We are going to BRU this week to pic that up. We are so fortunate to have so many friends and family.
So my living room is a MESS right now and I just want to be at home putting everything away, but I have to be here at work. I will post pics as soon as I have them developed. We have Lamaze tonight-touring L&D!!!!!!
I am excited today because I am going to work from home Tuesdays and Thursdays starting tomorrow :D YAY

Wow, you girls look great! This was a tough weekend for me... I'm blaming it on the heat. This coastal girl can't handle 100 degree weather! I was just *so* cranky & now I feel bad b/c DH and I don't have very many weekends together.
Nikki - ugh, I can't believe the ac is down at work! I'm not leaving my building today!
mandy - your shower sounds SO fun! Sounds like a ton of people and lots of great baby gifts!! My first shower is in two weeks and I'm pretty excited!

I am 34 weeks today. I am in so much pain - the pressure in my groin is unbearable! Plus, I am peeing every 15 minutes with nothing coming out. I was up 10 times last night. Tonight we have a labor prep class at my OBs office.
My second shower was this Saturday and I am with those of you who are beat. It was at 3PM and I didn't get home until 11PM...my feet felt like cement blocks. I slept most of Sunday away which I felt guilty about. I got a ton of great stuff and I have no idea where I am putting it all.
I am also an emotional wreck. I am flipping out about labor and flipping out about how my life is going to change in 6 weeks. My husband works a lot (he owns his own business which is fairly new and still going through a ton of growing pains) and I am alone most of the time...that is really upsetting me and I have been a monster to him - some of which is deserved because he really could work a tiny bit less hours but whatever.
BeachBum - you look great! I love the dress.
Sabre - I am also a wreck. I don't know how you managed to close on a house this pregnant..I would have probably cried my way through the whole process. I remember closing on my house not pregnant and it being stessful.
philnikki - ugg - sorry about the no ac. Hopefully, they will get it fixed. If not, I would see about going home - you really shouldn't be exposed to that kind of heat for an extended period. Drink lots of water!
devil_kitty_1 - I am with you on feeling awful. Have you tried Tums? I have heart burn HORRIBLE - to the point that I am burping up nasty burning stuff (tmi). TUMS helps. My doctor told me I could also take some other stuff.
solongtogo - steak story was hysterical. I can totally relate. Our poor DH's.
Princess Crappy - can totally relate to labor stress. I would really look into hiring a Doula - my friend had one and she avoided a C-section. I think you should explain to your DH that the support you get from a Doula is different than the support you expect from him. A doula has a lot of experience and can be an advocate for putting off a C-section (as long as you and the baby are not in danger) - like I said, they were ready to do a C-section with her and the doula said no - then she got on my friend and moved the baby around and out it came.
OK - I have a meeting - so I will continue shout outs later.

Solongtogo - Your steak story was exactly what I needed to read...it had me cracking up! My worst breakdown was similiar. I went through a phase early on when all I wanted to eat were scrambled eggs. DH was trying to be nice and offered to make them for me. He pulled out a wisk to start scrambling them and I started hysterically crying....I like to beat the eggs with a fork, not a wisk and I thought he was being really mean by using the wisk instead.+
Pixiecat, 10.4.03, knzbound, nikki, cr8zyforaf Thanks so much for the support on my breakdown. I think I will spend some time today looking into a doula, now I'm worried that I might be too late. Scott and I've talked more about it and he says he will do anything I want/need to feel more comfortable about l&d. I shared some of your experiences with doulas with him and he seems to feel a little better about it. In my head, I know I can do this (I really don't have a choice, right?) but I think you put it perfectly, Nikki, I'm afraid I won't do it right. Thanks again for helping me not to feel too crazy!
Elly - I am SO glad someone here has c/s experience! Was yours planned or emergency? Some of my concerns are starting a vaginal delivery and ending up with a c/s. Recovery seems so hard for a c/s, I can't imagine also dealing with a vaginal recovery. How did you handle recovering from a major surgery and dealing with a newborn? What was your recovery experience like? I'm also worried about not immediately bonding with baby after birth. I know they'll bring the baby over to me but I won't be able to hold it or nurse it for several hours. How long were your seperated from the baby and what was your bonding experience like? Did you have any nursing problems? If any of this is too personal, please don't feel obligated to answer! You can also e-mail me through my profile. Thanks!
Beachbum - Great belly shot and cute, cute dress!
Sabre - Your belly looks great. Congrats on closing on the house!
RandysMandy - It sounds like your shower was a GREAT success! Isn't it amazing how exhausting it is?
Hope everyone had a great weekend. I've been following the August thread and babies are starting to arrive. We're next!

Good Morning Ladies!
Baby is staying put but boy I did not sleep well. I was up at least 1 time per hour using the bathroom. I am sure hubby thoguht something was wrong since I am usually only up about 2-3 time throught the whole night. Having some mild pains but nothing really painful. I have my weekly appointment on wednesday and hoping my doctor can give me some insight. I was seriously nesting this weekend. I ended up cleaning almost the entire house and organized our whole walk in closet. I woke up feeling like I did sqauts all day yesterday.
devil_kitty_1 ~ Sorry you are so sick. My dotor told me I could take the milky stuff in the bottle (whatever brand) because it will coat my throat and stomach.
BeachBum ~ You look great!! Hope you had a good massage

Glad the party went well but I sure understand about being tired.
Sabre ~ Good shot! You look really good.
randysmandy ~ Wow that is really good that you got everything on your registry. Only having to buy the big carseat and the bedding is great!! I am almost exhausted from buying stuff!

Hi Ladies :) Hope everyone is having a good Monday thus far. I have a massage scheduled after work tonight and I can't wait!!
PrincessCrappy - So sorry about your "breakdown". It sounds like you are feeling better about everything - at least you had and DH had a chance to talk. I don't think it is too late to find a doula at all. Good luck on your search.
BeachBum & Sabre - Great belly shots!!
Pressure - I am feeling a lot of pressure too but mostly only after sitting for too long. Addy is sitting really low with her head down so I feel her moving her head and it feels more "raw" then anything else. Hard to describe...
Emotions - So far I have been the opposite of an emotional ball of wax. I have been so laid back - even with the baby room. I feel anxious that the nursery is still studs with no drywall but I know that it will be done and even though I want to get all loud about it, I'm not. Very strange for me because I am normally very ummm...outspoken.
Midnight Snack - Not yet...but I wake up sooo hungry in the morning!
Back to work I go...
Just hopping on the CC bandwagon here (I had the same screen name on the WC). Hope all the Sept Mommies are doing well looks like I have a lot of catching up to do!
Our EDD is officially 8/31/05 (our anniversary too!) and I have a question for experienced moms: are first borns usually delivered earlier or later than their EDD? I will be 35 weeks this week, have 10 more days of work before I go out on maternity leave and have final exams (Im in grad school) slated for 8/8 and 8/20 ~ Ive already told my 8/20 prof that Ill most likely take his exam during the week of 8/8, just to be safe!
Second question: Over the last week, Ive noticed a decrease in baby movements though I have gotten these waves of movements along my lower abdomen, which I am guessing are BH contractions. Do you think the decrease in baby movements could be due to the fact that our baby girl is getting bigger and that theres logically LESS room in there for her to really move around? I had an OB appt on 7/20 and everything looked/sounded great, so I am sure its nothing to worry about, but I wanted to ask
hisdaffodil

Just a quick post.
cc8 - my firstborn was born 3 weeks before his due date, by mistake though. He wasn't ready to come out then so who knows how far he'd have gone. And on the movement, yep, there's a lot less room in there now, so less room to wiggle around. All the baby books I've got say that it's normal for movement to decrease a lot in the last few months.
Snacks - This last week, I've been waking up at 3-4am starving to death and needing to pee like there's no tomorrow! Very annoying.
I had a scary moment yesterday. I have no idea what caused it (although I was at the point in Harry Potter 6 where all the bad stuff happens so I thought about suing Rowling!) but I started cramping, like menstrual cramps, but they got really really bad. I couldn't stand up straight, I had a hard time talking and had to breathe through them. It lasted for nearly 2 hours, then slowly faded off. At first i had thought it was gas, but I'd never felt anything like that before and it lasted for sooo long and went away for no reason! Now I'm just crampier than usual, although my lower back is killing me too. I was so panicked yesterday I ran around trying to pack a bag while breathing funny to keep from keeling over. It was just weird.
Anyone else had cramping issues??
BBL ladies, I must re-emerge into that lovely 100 degree heat to work!

hisdaffodil ~ I had the same thing! I could hardly stand up and the pain seem to go on forever. It wasn't at all like what I thought contractions would be like:eek: The cramping was worse than anything I felt and now I am having pain but not as intense. My doctor said it was probably a false labor...or the body's way of getting used to contracting. I am just on edge now since I lost my mucus plug. I am also having lower back pain.

Just a fly by post. As far as early delivery - my OB said that first borns are usually late. However, my mom was early with both me and my sister and my sister was early with hers...plus my friends are split - some were early and some were late with their first - the majority being early.
solongtogo - labor buddy - my doctor said the pressure is completely normal. It is getting worse and worse every day. She said it means the baby is now head down which is good...although the thought of 6 more weeks of this makes me want to cry. I feel like I am getting a bladder infection all the time :(

Gosh, everyone's so chatty today! ;)
We spent the weekend enjoying eachother's company:). My DH leaves tomorrow for a conference and won't be back until after midnight on Sunday (so basically I'll see him Monday night). We went out for dinner, did laundry, took the dog to the park, finished a registry at another store (for a shower that's out of town in a few weeks that doesn't have a BRUS), wrote thankyous from my first shower, cleaned out and organized all the cabinets/drawers in the master bath (guess that was nesting!), etc. It was a productive weekend, and we enjoyed ourselves as well!
On Friday night, I hadn't drank much water since earlier that afternoon and considering the temp here has been around 100degrees with the heat index around 105 for the last several week, that wasn't very smart. I had 5 strong BH's in about 30 minutes. So, I chugged a ton of water and they stopped. I need to remember not to let myself get so dehydrated!
Oh - and update on anyone waiting on the Graco Snugride 2's...they upped the weight limit from 20lbs to 22lbs and from 26inches to 30inches. I think they're starting to slowly appear in stores, but I was FINALLY able to find one online over the weekend...babycenter.com has them! They have them in 3 patterns (and for cheaper than the original snugrides at BRUS). So, we ordered the Snugride 2 in the Metropolitan and also ordered a second base. I called Graco today and the bases will also fit the new ones (there is no new base)!
And now my sorry attempt at s/o's bc I need to be working!haha
cr8zyforaf - Glad to hear you are hanging in there, can't wait to hear what your dr. says this week!
hisdaffodil - Sorry you had such painful cramping!! Do you remember having that with your first?
cc8 - I've also read about decreased movements. I've noticed more movement and less kicks...when I do get kicks, they hurt!
sandie - Exact opposite here, I can't eat much of anything after about 3pm or I get sick to my stomach. We had Mexican for dinner on Saturday at about 7:30 and I was miserable the rest of the night. So dinner for me for the last month or two has been cereal most nights. I always wake up ready for breakfast, but that's no different pg or non-pg.

Labor Buddies!!
I have not assigned labor buddies yet...I didn't really get that great of a response (maybe 8 of us?). So, LAST CALL!!. Send me an email at aswearingen@gmail.com if you want to be included, deadline is Friday 7/29 at 5pm! I'll do the pairings this weekend! (and thanks for the reminder!) I'll post a list later tonight of who I have received a response from (it's on my email at home).

solongtogo ~ You get paired up with one of the mommies that oyu can notify when you go into labor or have had the baby and they will post it here for you. I think Wildcat is going to pair us up according to due date so if you are due september 1 you may have someone who is due the 30th of september. Hope this isn't confusing
Michelle
beachbum, sabre you are beautifully pregnant. I have no guts to post my photo at this time. *deep breath* maybe later.
sandie I also wake up hungry but too tired to get anything to eat. Hmm, sounds like a good idea to have a bedside snack, except I 'm usually craving something salty and hot, like a hot pastrami sandwich.
hisdaffodil, cr8nme, I've had cramping too, where I had to stop talking (something has to be pretty bad for me to stop talking!) Mine lasted several minutes and would repeat. My OB said they were the BHs, and were ok as long as I didn't have 4 an hour--but I'm not really sure how to count them.
She also said to drink a lot of water when I experience the cramps.
cc8, just last night I read in Parenting magazine that 70% first time moms give birth the week after their due date. Oh, my OB also said that it is totally normal for babies to move less as time goes on. But I'm not sure when that is--probably right where you are.
gotta run!

Wow - so many posts today! I didn't get a chance to log on until late day and I feel like I'm so far behind. Don't have much time for s/o's but here are a couple.
Cr8nme - great remodel (I know, it was a few pages back).
Jo&sean - have fun at your massage tonight. I had one a week ago on the pregnancy pillow (they have a cutout in the center) and I didn't think it was very comfortable. Curious to see if yours uses one and what you think of it.
Beachbum & Sabre - great belly shots.
Showers - I'm jealous of all of you who have had their showers. Mine isn't for another three weeks! Of course, we aren't due until the end of September, but I'm anxious.
Remodel - I was up until Midnight last night painting the walls in the kitchen getting it ready for the cabinets today (well part of them, since they still haven't all arrived). I'll be painting the dining room first coat tonight. That will be my life for the next two weeks, painting just about every room in the house a different color. I think I'll get to Aimee's room by next Monday.
I had a really rough sleeping night last night. Besides the normal wake up for turning over and peeing - I had a HUGE spider crawling on me. It woke me up when it went running down my leg. I jumped out of bed, turned on the light and killed him! He was big, black and hairy! Then, I got something in my eye, rubbed it and couldn't see. Then, my allergies kicked in and I was sneezing for 1/2 hour. I finally had to turn on the TV to get myself back to sleep. Oh, and did I mention that DH slept through it all?
Dog update - well, my dog still has the sniffles. So, we broke down and went to a specialists today. They think there is something blocking her passage and they want to put her under again and re-scope her with a longer better scope. So, on top of the $1,000 I've already spent, I get to spend another $1,000 on Thursday with the specialist. I'm seeing Aimee's clothing budget disappear with the dog! Oh well, she's part of the family and I'd do anything for her, but this really stinks for timing.
I'm off to drive home, cook dinner and then paint the dining room......

first babies - As said earlier, 70+% of first pregnancies go to 41 weeks. Actually I believe that a couple of European countries have actually changed there laws saying that pregnancy now last 41 weeks instead of 40 to hopefully lower induction rates. Most woman can safely carry a baby to 42 weeks before the placenta starts to break down etc.
emotions - Yes all over the place. I get teary-eyed all of the time while watching TV or going thru my sons baby clothes or setting up the nursery.
cramping - Oh lord yes I also have the fun "kicked in the crotch" feeling now too. So I am not only bent over, I am waddleing:)
heartburn - Been terrible lately especially at night - almost every night I have to take some Tums at some point during the night.
hungry in the middle of the night - No because I always eat something before bed - like those nutritious cereals Coco Puffs and Lucky charms:) I remember being starving last time while nursing my son all night. I would have full meals at 2am.
pressure - Not as much this time which leads me to believe that this baby is not head down yet. My son went head down about 34 weeks and never moved again and I had terrible pressure with him. I can still feel this little one doing full flips. She needs to make her move pretty soon - no breetch babies are allowed in my belly:)
Whats been going on with me...So her room is painted, the trim is done and the furniture is up! I feel so much better. It has been near 100 degrees which was making me cranky, but today it was only 80 so I am much happier. I must be carrying differently this time because I am finding that some of my shorts are not comfy anymore. My son has finally cut the teeth from hell and is back to normal sleeping and napping - he has been in such a great mood the last few days. Mostly I am feeling amazed that I only have 5-7 weeks left in my last pregnancy.
I hope that you all are doing well!

Brink - The massage was great - the lady I go to actually has a prenatal table with a belly hole in the actual table. It is really comfortable :)
Sorry to hear about your dog - the timing of it does bite but like you said, you would do anything for her. We are the same way with our pets and can totally understand. Yeah for getting some of your painting done!! I am sooo jealous ;) Hope you get some better rest tonight - that spider sounds awful!!!
Allison - Glad all is going well with you. Yeah for getting your nursery painted!
Something Odd..
I came home to find a case of pampers baby wipes and a case of baby magic foaming hair & body wash on my doorstep. I didn't order these items and they don't seem like anything any of our friends or family would buy and there was no note, no invoice or anything inside the boxes. They came from a palce called BuyTheCase LLC which I looked up on line and didn't find anything helpful. I immediately checked my credit card statement but everything looks normal there....So I am  Perhaps there will be a card in the regular mail explaining this??

Yes, it is 6:42 and I've been at work for an hour. I've been up since 4:00 - can't sleep and am totally irratated about it.
Had our labor class last night at the OB's office - it was just an hour long quick overview. Basically they went over the two important signs of labor - water breaking and contractions. We are to call the dr. if our water breaks. Before we head to the hospital, I should be having a contraction every 5 minutes for about 2 hours.
There were six other mothers there - all had experienced contractions and all were bigger than me even though we are due around the same time. I haven't experienced any contractions. I felt like a loser! :)

So I feel like crap now after getting no sleep :( This is really getting old, but I suppose I better get used to it, right ;) ? lol
So this morning I stepped in a puddle water when I walked out the bathroom (I had not take a shower yet). The first thing I thought of was that maybe the cats had peed on the floor (though they never do that). Once I saw it was clear, you should have seen me on all fours smelling the liquid (OB told me last time that amniotic fluid smells like, ahem, semen) to see if it was my water! lol Of course, it was just plain old water, but a little excitement this morning nonetheless!!
DH and I are on baby watch for the next few days. DH's 30th birthday is tomorrow, and we are just a little worried about possible *coincidences* :) lol We'll be the same way the week of 8/22 bc we have my nephews birthday on the 25th, my wedding anniv. on the 28th, and a wedding to attend on the 27th! :) lol
cr8zyforaf - Glad I was not the only one who could not sleep!!
jo&sean - That was weird!! Did you ever figure out who sent you the gift?
wildcat - I beleive I signed up for labor buddies awhile ago...would you mind posting who you have so I know whether or not you received my email? Thanks :)!!!
cramping - been there, done that! lol A LOT!
Well thats about it for me this morning!! Take Care :)
I am just exhausted. I try to take at least one nap a day (lunchtime) if not two, the second one as soon as I come home from work. And normally for me, I have still been able to sleep the entire night, with an occasional pee break.
BUT, the last 3 nights, I have been up for 2-3 hours, including this am, I have been up since 4 am! And I went to bed late, around midnight.
This is not enough sleep!
I think in my case, there is a lot on my mind, so I start thinking about them--I'm not thinking very hard. The thoughts (my to-do list, my "oh I need to add that to my work bag in the morning,") kind of stealthily creep in and then before I know it, I'm fully awake.
Update for me:
We went to our Intro to Breastfeeding class yesterday at our hospital and learned a lot. I'm happy my DH went (those he dozed off at one point). I feel productive that we actually completed a class. We have some videos (about labor) that we are totally in denial about watching. And we tried to sign up for some other classes, like new baby care, and found that they are all booked until AFTER our due date. Even this Intro to BF class was overbooked and we had to ask the instructor on the day of. Not fair that all these other pregnant ladies are more organized that I am. Even the hospital tour is BOOKED! We are on a waitlist! I cannot belive it.
Our nursery: since our new home has 3 very equal sized rooms, our baby will have the nicest room, IMO. I think it is bigger than ours. We are slowly moving in stuff, and it is turning out better than I expected, since we are doing no decorating whatsoever, just putting in hand-me-down furniture and some of our old stuff (bookcases, futon from school). But this all looks pretty good together.
My DH suddenly wants to re-paint the nursery (which was painted off white during our remodel fewer than 2 months ago). I love his enthusiasm, but seriously, honey, we need to find our own underwear and socks before starting another big project.

Morning Ladies
I have officially started working from home 2 days/week today-YAY!
There was SO much chatting going on since the last time I checked in, so I am going to touch on the subjects.
remodeling Good luck to all you mom's who are still in the process of remodeling or getting the nursery together!
baby movements Hunter was So active last night...I wonder...how in the world can he end up on the complete side of me kicking his little feet. Sometimes he even oushes his bum out so hard in the front of me that it hurts! I thought he was supposed to be running out of room and not moving as much. Maybe I am not as far along as they think??????
Last night we toured L&D. I actually deliver in one room and then go into my other room with the baby-hmm..never knew that. The facility is great though-all private rooms and many of them.
OK so here are the pics from my shower:

The mystery gift has been solved...I did another search for the company on line and found their website: buythecase.com. So I emailed their customer service department and the items were sent by one of MIL's friends - so the loot is legit :) I won't have to buy baby wipes or baby shampoo/body wash for a verrryyy long time!
Sorry for everyone having sleeping troubles. I have been able to sleep really well even though I have to get up multiple times to go pee but I always fall right back to sleep with no problems. I hope it continues that way.
RE: 70% of first time moms deliver 1 week after their EDD
Thanks for the reassurance ladies! On the one hand, I cant wait to be not pregnant again; but on the other hand, Id rather that DD come 1 week after my EDD vs 2 week prioryou never know though, I guess!
In other news, both DH and I think that I have started to carry lower now not sure if our eyes are playing tricks on us or what.
Tonight we are going to our second installment of the birthing class series we signed up for hope to learn lots more.

We had our last sonogram today, everything looks perfect! The baby is measuring right on (actually a few days behind overall, but the due date is still 9/22), weighs approx. 3lb 12oz, all of which puts it in the 24th percentile!! So much for a big baby, looks like it could be on the small side!!! The amniotic fluid levels were totally normal, the placenta has moved up and out of the way (was low lying at our 16week sonogram) and as of today the baby is still head down. The only weird thing is I have an accessory lobe on my placenta and all that means is that after I deliver, they have to be careful to make sure all of the placenta is delivered (must research that later!). And again, the u/s tech freaked out about how much hair the baby has! She went on and on saying how thick and long the hair isI seriously have to go home tonight and look at DH and my baby pics, I dont remember either of us having much of any hair (my mom said I was bald). The tech said that if its a girl, well need some barrettes!
I gained less than a pound this time, so thats good! I saw a midwife today instead of my dr (on vacation) and when she measured me, I still measured 2.5 weeks ahead (which is what it generally has been, last time was 5 weeks ahead and obviously totally off!), so I measured 34 weeks at 31.5 weeks. She also said it has to do with how the baby is laying and the fact that Im petiteat least now I have the sono to back that up!!
I'll post a list of girls that have signed up for labor buddies tonight, I promise!!

You can see hair on an ultrasound!? Now I want to know if our baby has hair. We had an ultrasound at 31 weeks too. What does hair on an ultrasound look like?

Sandie - I can't see it on the pic's she gave us, but live on the screen it looks like little spikes that were floating in the amniotic fluid, waving around! Some of the hair was quite long! It was so cute! At our 3d/4d u/s at 29 weeks, that tech pointed out the hair as well.

Pretty quiet in here today.................I just got a call that my carseat needs to be picked up! My grandparents called the store and bought it for me since it was unavailable online through my registry.
Oh by the way this week a lot of the strollers and carseats have free shipping at Babies r us.
This is what I got! Its the Combi Infant car seat and Stroller!

I am so excited: our Dutalier glider and ottoman were delivered today! I was so afraid we wouldn't get it in time as I had heard that they were really behind on their orders. Woohoo! It is SO comfortable!
Brink - how did the cabinet installation go? Don't work too hard with all of that painting. Sorry about the puppy costs!
Jo&Sean - What a score on the baby wipes and wash! Although, I would think it was pretty odd to come home and find that on my porch, too! Glad to hear your massage was great. I have 2 gift certificates still to use. I just wrote a note to call and schedule them in the morning!
Nikki - Dignity really flies out the door during pregnancy, doesn't it? Sorry about the need to sniff the liquid, but glad to hear it wasn't from you!
Wildcat - Sounds like an ideal doctor visit! That is wild that they can actually see that baby's hair on the u/s. I'm going to look for it at my next u/s in 2 weeks! I guess it's an old wives tale that if you have a lot of heartburn during your pregnancy, you will have a baby with a lot of hair. If that's true, I must be having a super hairy baby as I cannot leave home without my bottle of tums!
Cr8nme - Yeah for the carseat! It's so nice having someone else buy some of the big ticket necessities!
Sorry to those suffering from insomnia. That is the worst. I've been sleeping ok at night, but I somehow have fallen into a schedule of peeing at 5 am and having a super hard time getting back to sleep.
I am so tired today. I work with a volunteer group and last night was my turn to host our committee's monthly meeting. That meant dinner and dessert (not to mention the housecleaning and prep) for 13 people! What was I thinking?

I'm also able to sleep - but then sometimes I wake up to pee in the middle of the night and end up puttering around the apartment for an hour!
So - I have 3 days left of school/internship!! That means one year of graduate school completed! I'm so relieved - I was so worried that I would have the baby before finishing the semester. Plus it will be nice to sit in the A/C during August :)
Saw the doctor today - more weight gain, and BP was slightly higher than norma l (for me) but still in the *normal* range.. again she is not concerned. I did ask her about any symptoms of pre-e that I should be watching for. Next Wednesday is my first internal exam and a sonogram to see Baby's position!!!

Wildcat -Great belly shot! Glad your appointment went so well. I can't believe you can see hair on the u/s! That is really cool.
Cr8nme - Score on the car sea. I really like the stoller you posted - I might have to check that one out.
PrincessCrappy - Glad your ottoman and glider came in. I can't believe you had to cook and clean for 13 people - that is a big task!
Dbers - Glad to hear your appt went well :)
The Mystery Loot
The mystery of the loot I found on my doorstep has been solved. I did some more sleuthing last night on-line and found the actual website where the items came from so I emailed the customer service department to see if they could tell me who ordered and sent the items. Surprisingly, they emailed me back telling me who it was. Turns out it is a family friend - so it's totally legit loot :) To top it off - today I came home to find a case of size 1 diapers to add to the stash!! Who would think that diapers, bottom wipes and tearless shampoo could make someone so happy!! ;)

Morning ladies!
Sorry to hear that so many of you aren't sleeping well... I'm doing okay except when I wake up with *terrible* heartburn!
wildcat - you look great! And how exciting to know a little bit more about your baby!
princess crappy - what a great gift! I love the stroller & car seat. My grandma is buying our carseat for us too!
dbers - hopefully all will be well w/ your bp - maybe you were just a little stressed? You are lucky that you get to see your babe again!!
jo&sean - I LOVE getting presents in the mail! (or on the doorstep!) How sweet of your friends :p
Yesterday was our *2* year wedding anniversary! DH sent a HUGE boquet of white roses to work & I was able to visit him at the fire station last night. Time really flies, I can't believe it's been 2 years already....

Cr8nme Congrats on the carseat...what nice grandparents :)
PrincessCrappy 5am must be the time...I get up at 2-3 times a night, but ALWAYS wake up at 5. I wish my body would wait til 5:30 when my alarm goes off!
jo Good going finding the mystery buyer. I just love to find packages at my doorstep-too bad it doesn't happen more often!
We had a bad night last night. It was 90 degrees out and we lost power for about 3 hours. To top it off it fried my computer. I am working from home now, but can't tomorrow or until my computer gets fixed. Fortunately it is the Electric Company's fault because they did not put a big enough transformer outside (the whole street lost power) therefore, the homeowner's insurance should cover the cost of my computer. Keep your fingers crossed.
So while it was smoldering hot in my house DH and I went shopping and got the crib bedding and a few other things we did not receive at the shower :) We are now ready for whenever Hunter decides to celebrate his birthday!!
I had my 35 week doctor's visit today. I gained no wait over the last 2 weeks, but that is to be expected. I am still at 25 lbs weight gain. August 2ndis my internal and groupy step test. Then it is every week from there. The OB guestimated a 7 1/2 lb baby-YAY! But of course in about 2 weeks she tell more.
pixiecat What a nice husband and happy anniversary! Our first anniversary is August 15th...just 2 weeks. It's crazy how time flies-it feels like we were just married in the spring.
Stay cool everyone-We are 92 degrees here today

randysmandy - bummer about the power outage. I can't imagine having my computer blow up. Did you loose all of your files?
pixiecat - Happy 2nd Wedding Anniversary!
PrincessCrappy - I can't imagine putting on a party for 13 people. I think I would have told them all to bring their own food! The cabinets are ok, thanks for asking. They installed 3/4 of them and will have to wait another couple of weeks for the others until the last one arrives. In the meantime, I painted the dinning room (first coat) last night. I'll be back out there again tonight either painting my second coat or the 1/2 bath. Depends how much I feel like taking on. I am so exhausted from last night.....
Baby Hair - they told us on 4D u/s at 30 wks that she had a bunch of hair. I couldn't really see it, but he said it was there. We have another u/s at 35 weeks, so I'll have to look again. The old wives tale would apply here, h/b is horrible everyday, anytime of the day.
Weight - So, as of this morning, on my scale at home - I have gained 40 pounds! I can't believe I am packing around that much extra weight - I have 8 weeks to go (I think) - hopefully I can stay under the 50 pound mark. I have to go shopping again as most of my maternity stuff I bought doesn't stretch over my belly anymore. I walk around most days flashing people.
Hope everyone has a great day.

Just came back fro my doctors appointment. No progress down there. The baby is head down but not extremly low. I think I need to take a jog  Had my Group B Strep today and will find out soon not that it matter just a round of anti-biotics. As long as my baby gets here safely.
Randysmandy ~ Sorry about your computer but yay for getting the rest of the baby stuff!! You must feel relieved.
pixiecat~ Happy Anniversary time sure does fly huh!
Jo ~ Yay for the packages being legit! You are well stocked now.
Dbers ~ Doesn't it feel good to have that one year down. How many years is your program total?
Carseat ~ We went last night to pick up our careseat. When we pulled into the parking lot our(Dh and I) conversation went something like this:
Dh: We are going in here to pick it up and go right
Me: Yes, It is already waiting for us. We just have to sign a paper saying we picked it up
Dh: Ok lets go
Then ladies we walk in... I go to the front counter to pick it up, where does my husband go but to the stroller and carseat section. He had to teast out practically every stroller and carseat. Some he cited as "not user friendly" and others he thought was too heavy for me to handle. The one that I posted above seemed just a little flimsy to me for the money. So after 1 hour, Yes 1 hour  We decided on an Eddie Bauer stroller and carseat(not travel system but can be made into one) and we also got a big kid carseat, eddie bauer which can accomodate 20-100 pounds.

Pixiecat - Happy Anniversary!!!
question- The last time my OB checked, Ava was breech. She is cheking again on Thursday (36 weeks for me). If she is still breech, any idea if that means I get a scheduled c-section?? At what point in pregnancy do they do that (ie 38, 39, 40 weeks???). TIA!!
Just a quick post today ladies. Is anyone else just getting CRANKY??? I mean, my back hurts, the baby keeps jabbing me (to the point it hurts), I feel like I weigh as much as a hippo, and everyone keeps asking me the same questions everyday (ie, when are you due?, isn't that baby ready to come out?, how much weight have you gained?, etc.) I mean, I want to just lock myself in a room sometimes and say "LEAVE ME ALONE". Arg. Sorry for my rant ladies. Just not feeling so great today. Maybe tomorrow will be better :)

I did not know if I lost my files..the computer guy seems to think that my power supply was fried...not my hard drive. The same thing happened to my boss and he was able to recover everything!
Cranky Oh my gosh-I'm not so cranky as I am just BLAH!!! I do not have the energy to work today (would rather be playing solitaire) and I cannot make up my mind as to what to do tonight. I feel confused
I have the option of getting together with my stepmom or going swimming at my gram's while DH watches his nephew's b-ball game in this heat. I am actually stressing over the decision. That never happens to me.
Nikki The baby jabs me as well-and it DOES hurt at times. I get annoyed, but when he stops I just want him to do it again. yup-confusion.
Hang in there girl--only 38 days left-you have made it through SOOO many days thus far. Is your AC fixed?
Cr8nme Yay for your carseats. I heard however that carseats have an experation date on them. Is this true anyone????So when we didn't get the "bigger" carseat at my shower I was ok with it. Now we are going to wait til the baby outgrows the infant seat. You might want to look into that. Sorry to bring it up now. Men are funny...my DH was complaining to the worker that the bedding was too much money ($180) and asked if it was going to go on sale anytime soon!! So embarassing.

Randysmandy~ I googled that and this is what I came up with. If anyone else has any info I would appreciate it. I am also going to call BRU to see what they say
There are federal laws regulating safety standards for car seats but no expiration dates, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
Graco Children's Products, one of the largest manufacturers of child restraint seats, says it does recommend throwing out a car seat after seven years or so.
That is not because of danger that the plastic is degenerating, said David Galambos, compliance and safety manager for child safety systems with Graco.
"It's not as if you'll hit the expiration date and the plastic will become weak," he said. "The plastic is good for at least 10 years. But regulations and standards are constantly changing."
For example, in both 1999 and 2002, car seats incorporated new methods of buckling in children and attaching the seat to the car. Although parents can still use car seats with older mechanisms, manufacturers can't sell them.
Also, Galambos said, as the car seat ages, "some of the history gets lost, such as whether it was in an accident or not."
"Replacement parts get harder to find," he said. "Webbing and such start falling apart."
But, he acknowledged, the seven-year date builds in a pretty hefty buffer zone.
"We're not seeing any disintegration until a minimum of 10 years," he said.
In a survey, other major manufacturers, including Cosco, EvenFlo and Safety First, all agreed upon similar expiration dates, Galambos said.
Despite rumors that float around the playground and the Web, extreme weather has no impact on the life of a car seat, Galambos said.
One recommendation all experts agree on, however, is that if a car seat is involved in an accident, replace it.

Hi ladies,
Sorry about all the heat (everywhere but where I live--it's 57 degrees today. Brrr. I saw a lady walking her dogs with a FULL LENGTH FUR COAT on!) and insomnia. Have had a bit of that myself--the insomnia part. Ugh, it's the worst.
FWIW--we did not have DD in the infant carseat for very long, so I wouldn't worry about the bigger seat expiring before you can use it. I know the Graco Snugride is safe up to 20 lbs, but it also has a height limit, 26 inches, IIRC. Not sure about the other makes and models. DD didn't hit 20 lbs. until about 18 months, but she hit 26 inches in about 5 months! We moved her into the Britax Roundabout then.
Also, the "infant bucket" gets very, very heavy after the baby reaches about 12-15 lbs. (can happen quickly, depending on baby's size at birth) and yanking it in and out of the base with baby inside starts to lose its allure. At that point, DD would always wake up because it took so much effort/wrangling for me to lift the seat + baby out of the backseat. Keeping baby sleeping in the carseat was the only advantage, IMO, of using the carseat/universal carrier system, so that was another reason why we switched.
Nothing much new to report here. I'm 33 weeks and my complaints are mounting! Heartburn--every night, weird tickly/tingly feeling in my lungs when I am lying down (from baby pushing on lungs, I assume) AND, get this, a varicose vein in my cooch! Aggggg. So uncomfortable. The doctor said this is common and will go away after delivery, but she did offer to induce me at 38 weeks if I was just dying from the discomfort "down there." She's a little induction-happy, this doctor, and I probably won't go that route, but I suppose it's nice that she's sympathetic. Otherwise, all is well. I've gained 28 lbs. as of last week at 32 weeks. Yikes. Hoping not to go over 35, but we'll see.

Cr8nme - I registered for the same large Eddie Bauer car seat. We also went the route of having the one larger one and then getting the smaller one that snaps into the stroller (not the travel system). I like the idea of having the two carseats so we don't have to switch one back and forth between my and DH's cars.
Cranky - definitely getting cranky at times. I had someone in my office this morning and I totally snapped at her. I went down later and told her sorry it was the pregnancy hormones. When I tell people my due date, they react with "oh, wow, you are big", that doesn't help my mood at all. And, yes, Aimee is kicking me hard at times - I think she is kicking me in the kidneys or something......

Brink ~ That carseat is on sale right now. We are also going to get another big one eventually to put in the other car since they stay in the infant one for such a short time. I love the fact that the stroller isn't that bulky so I can use it for a while after the baby is out of the infant seat and the stroller doesn't become a burden.
Heat It was about 110 here today and boy am I suffering in the heat

Heat - I think it reached 100 degrees here, and feels like hotter with the humidty! My feet/ankles aren't even recognizable today...
Brink - I'm right there with you on the weight gain my dear.. I know people who have gained 50 - 60, and all was well. I guess we all react differently! I'm at 47 lbs now with about 5 weeks to go, so it looks like I'll be crossing the 50 lb barrier in no time. And I'm only 5'2"!!
Cr8nme - It's a two year program (masters in social work).. I'm taking a semester off for baby :) then taking a couple of electives in the spring - then back full time in Sept. 06 - I should graduate in May, 07!
Jo - Thanks!
Pixie - Yeah - could be stress, or heat? I guess as long as it's within normal range for most people, I'm okay. I imagine though it might get high during delivery - I'll certainly be stressed that day! Although in my birth class they told me that the epidural lowers your BP.. strange.

Hi everyone.
dbers - Congrats on finishing your first year of grad school! What a major accomplishment. What field are you studying?
Pixiecat - Happy Anniversary, a day late! Don't you just love having flowers delivered? I always feel so special!
Randysmandy - At least we now know we are not alone when we wake up for our 5 a.m. pee breaks! That sucks about your computer, but at least you had an excuse to do some shopping.
Cr8nme - Your carseat story is too funny. My DH was also very opinionated about which stroller and carseat to get.
Nikki - If Ava is still breech, are you considering an attempt to have her manually turned? I've heard that yoga is a great method for getting babies into the right position. As far as a c-section, I think my practice would do it at 39 weeks, but I'm not at all sure.
knzbound - Where in CA is it 57 degrees?? It is still super hot in San Diego. I didn't even know we could get vericose veins in our hoo-has. I swear, I learn something new here everday! Sorry you're so uncomfortable!
I am definitely more cranky than usual. Just about everything irritates me. I have been honking my car horn like crazy. We're also trying to get a few house repairs completed before our 1 year warranty is up. Our sales rep is probably 19 years old and is very afraid of me, poor kid. But really, how hard is it to schedule a few repairmen to come by??
I woke up with a sore throat and a crotch area that feels like I've been kicked 100 times. I don't feel any pressure down there, just an overall soreness when I walk. I've got a really sexy walk going on now because of it.
I scheduled our first appointment with a potential pediatrician. Has anyone else done this yet? What should I expect and what should I ask??
I also scheduled 2 pre-natal massages and a pregnancy facial. I CANNOT wait! Maybe that will help with my crankiness?

Sorry, dbers, we cross posted. Never mind my question! :)
I forgot to include this in my last post to Nikki. At my L&D class, the instructor mentioned this we should check out this website: Spinning Babies (http://www.spinningbabies.com/) to help turn our babies, if necessary. I haven't really looked at it yet, myself, but I thought it might be helpful to someone here!

Princess Crappy--In San Francisco, in the city proper. As soon as it hits about 80 everywhere else in CA, the fog rolls in and stays all summer, along with really gusty winds. Something about the inland temp. vs. the ocean temps. Anyhoo, it's a huge bummer. Sort of like June Gloom in SD but much colder and June, July, and August Gloom! The funny thing is, usually, if you drive 10 or 15 miles in any direction outside of the city, the weather is gorgeous.

I feel llike the odd duck here because so far I am not cranky (the exact opposite really - more bubby and happy then usual), the heat isn't bothering me at all (high 90's here but no humidity so that probably helps!) and I can sleep just fine (except having to pee 6 times a night but I fall right back to sleep). My only real complaint is how sore my hips and crotch are when I lay down or after sitting so long - it's like an internal sore and that is annoying. I will probably eat my words tomorrow now that I have said that! :)
Even More Loot
Tonight I came home to find three more presents from our registry: receiving blankets, gym playmat and the pac-n-play. All from the same lady who sent us the cases of diapers and stuff. I feel sooooo spoiled! I can't believe this one family friend has done all this for us.
Nikki - My chiropractor was talking today about how some manipulations can help turn breech babies - in fact she just helped one of her clients who happens to be a midwife turn her breech baby.
Hisdaffodil - Glad your little guy turned!!
I need to get some work done before I go to bed...ugh...

Well, I'm definintely more "hormonal" right now...cranky one minute, so happy the next, in tears the next. I can't wait for that part to go away! However, the 100+ degree heat we've had hasn't bothered me and I still sleep just fine (practically sleep walk into the bathroom 2-3 times a night and right back to sleep). The sleep part doesn't surprise me, I've always been able to fall asleep in 2 seconds anywhere. Speaking of which, I need to get to bed!
After a few nights of insomnia, last night I slept like a log, so I am definetly in much better spirits. I get so cranky (and stupid) when I am tired. WHAT am I going to do with myself once the baby is here? I'm guessing I will be loads more tired.
Happy Anniversary pixiecat!
Hiccups:
Wow, my baby can hiccup for over 15 minutes straight. Are any of you guys feeling that, for that long? I know hiccups are normal, but for that amount of time? I even try shifting positions and poking him to get him to stop, but no luck. It is funny watching my belly jiggle every few seconds, on cue.
Good night everyone!

Good morning!!
Today is DH's 30th birthday! He is taking pretty well lol I told him we need to be on "baby watch" today, bc you know all about those coincidences that occur with baby's being born on someones birthday! It would be a little early today, but my OB said we are in the clear now as far as risk is concerned! :)
Breech - Thanks you guys for your input to my question. My OB (unfortunately) told me that she does not reccomend turning a breech baby for a first time mama, but that they do in second time moms? I didn't ask anymore, I just now know that I won't be getting her turned. I sure hope she isn't breech anymore. I can't tell the difference between her hand and her feet that moment as she wiggles constantly ;) lol
Hiccups - Yep, Ava gets them! Not every night but at least once or twice a week and for about 15 minutes or so. I heard that its a good thing bc it means their lungs are well developed!
Cranky Thanks guys for commiserating with me on being cranky. I just feel so bad sometimes that I know I am taking this time for granted, but its just so hard being so miserable and hearing the same questions and comments over and over again for the past 3+months. ARG! Feeling a *little* better today. Let's see if it continues!
wildcat Thanks for getting the buddies all set up! Like Cr8nme said, we are getting close to some babies being born! Let's all hope its mine ;) lol After 37 weeks of course ;) lol Speaking of which, that is only 16 days till full term for me!! Woo Hooo!!!!!!
Randysmandy Yep, the AC is back on :)!
Well, I think that's it!! We are going to look at more houses tomorrow (did I mention that in the middle of all of this DH and I are looking for a new house?). I sure hope I find *the* one, or I am just going to wait until the spring to look again. If you want to check them out, you can see the pics in my journal (link in my siggy). Well, I better get some work done, lol. Another contraction is starting now too...fun, fun...

jo&sean - congrats on all the loot. That would be so fun to come home to presents everyday.
Hicups - She's had them a few times. They only last probably 5 minutes or so and I feel bad for her. Glad to hear they mean good things, maybe they won't bother me as much now.
I think today is one of the most icky days I've felt. I woke up in the middle of the night with stomach aches. They still haven't gone away. I can't figure out what it is. I do feel an overall tightening of my belly, but it's not coming and going like contractions would (I haven't even experienced one of those yet). It feels more like when you have bowel issues (sorry TMI), but I go to the potty and nothing happens. Now, my lower back has started to ache too. If I didn't have so much to get done today I would call a sick day and go home.
I finally realized I can't physically get all the painting done that I need to, so I called a friend of mine and she is going to help me this weekend. I'll still have a lot to do, but what a relief to have the help. DH is busy working on so many other projects that in order for him to help me would put us too far behind and the other stuff wouldn't get done before the shower.

Hey girls.....
Just checking in. I had my OB appt yesterday and everything looks perfect. I'm measuring right at 32 weeks, BP was fine, urine was fine, AND I have gained TWO WHOLE POUNDS! Well, I was down 9 from prepregnancy and was up .8 pound at my last appt so I've gained back 2.8 pounds from my loss. So I'm still below prepregnancy weight but Rachel is getting/taking everything she needs :D .
She is head down and we heard the heartbeat and she kicked the heck out of the doppler, hee!
I'm down to 2 weeks between visits now. YOWZERS! We're looking at Sept. 9th for my repeat C, if I make it that far. I'll be just shy of 39 weeks if I do. With Hank I only made it to 36w, 4d. So, we'll see!
We are getting SOOOO close! As of Monday we can tell people we're due "next month" when they ask. ACK!

Jo&Sean - You should not feel like an odd duck, you should feel like a lucky duck for not suffering from the crankies! What a major score on the gifts at your doorstep!
Crow - Yeah for a good night's sleep! My kiddo also gets the hiccups a lot, at least once a day for about 15 minutes. I kind of like the way they feel.
Cr8nme - Are all of those family members staying with you at your house?? I would go crazy!
Brink - Sorry about the stomach pains. I've heard that contractions actually feel like you have to go to the bathroom really bad, but can't. I haven't really felt many, so I'm not certain. I'm glad you're getting help with the painting...that is really a lot of work for a pg lady!

PrincessCrappy - that outfit is soooo cute. I think I might go out today and shop for Aimee's coming home outfit.
Just had to share - yesterday I was at the store and the cashier asked when I was due. I told her end of September and she said - "with twins", to which I replied, "no, apparently I'm just large", then she said "it just looks like you are ready to pop". I know I'll hear this many more times over the next two months, but really - do people just not get it!
I'm starting to feel a little better with my stomach ache. My back is still bothering me, but feeling better. One of my girlfriends is coming over to help paint tonight and the other one is coming this weekend. I love it when friends come through for you......

Hey, have any of you guys experienced this yet: I was walking along and all of a sudden I felt this huge bit of pressure and a twinge of pain all the way down to barely above my "southern region"!!?? I wonder if the baby Ava has dropped and is engaged??? If that is the case, maybe she is not breech anymore :) Anyway, I am off to the bathroom, as usual. Still waiting to see if any MP has decided to come out yet. Based on my last u/s, they dated us at 8/26/05, soooo...if that is the case, I am now 35w6d pregnant! EEK!!! That means I would be *technically* full term in 8 days!! No wonder I have felt miserable. I had not even thought about that until I felt her huge push today.

crow - I've felt hiccups only a few times... but they are definitely strange!! poor little thing!
Okay, I guess it is b/c I am so far behind most of you (due on 9/30 or 10/1), but I feel like I have *forever* to still be pg! I haven't had any BH, or weird MP things... maybe I am just in denial that my baby will be here in 2 months!

pixiecat~ I think that having a date that I KNOW I'll be unpregnant by (HEE!) helps. My dr won't let me go past 39 weeks and will do a repeat C around 38-39 weeks so we're looking at Sept. 9th for my surgery. I know I'll have a baby in my arms by Sept. 9th, if not sooner.
I'm not doing a nursery or having a shower or anything like that since this is my second so I don't have any of that to look forward to. Which, really, isn't a bad thing since we're already growing out of our house! I've received a few gifts and know I'll get more as I get closer to delivery and afterwards, but I honestly don't know what I'd do with a ton of stuff! Whats sad is that when we moved here 2 years ago it seemed HUGE, and it was compared to our old house. Now it seems so small!

Cr8nme You never know about some OB's and inducement. I know mine starts chatting about it at 38 weeks if you have a normal pregnancy and even sooner if there are other complications. I also am feelin ya on the whole "visitors" issue. My MIL is coming up to stay with us once the baby comes, and to be honest, I would rather she just stayed in a hotel, but DH will have nothing of it. Plus, she told him that she plans to stay "until you go back to work". So whether that means him or me, I am not sure. I will say this, I don't mind her staying for the two weeks that I have DH at home, but I am most certainly not spending the remainder of my maternity leave with her!! She drives me nuts!!!! It's not that she is mean or anything, she is just rude. The whole issue is, though, that she is just so naive and batty, she doesn't even realize how rude she is being. Like talking constantly about nothing and bieng so slow about everything she does, from getting ready to go somewhere to trying to spit out a conversation. And on top of it all, I have really only seen her 4 or 5 times since Phil and I have even met, so its not like I know her all that well enough to feel comfortable breast feeding in front of her or having a nervous breakdown in front of her (which I am likely going to do, esp if she is in my house!!!!). DH seems to think she will be this big help with laundry and cooking and all of that, and maybe she will be, but I just don't want to the help. I want to do this on my own as hard as it will be. I don't need someone helping me up until the time I start back to work and then leaving. That will make it worse, not better. Can you tell this is a touchy subject with me? :) lol Arg. I think I am going to call her and make it clear that I only need her help for two weeks. Hope DH just does not get mad about it. But he married me, not his mom, right???
Still feeling that pressure and pain down in that area....hmm.....

Nikki~ I have felt that pain that your talking about "down there" I have mine on and off throughout the day ugghh. Yesterday at the doctor when he was checking me he said my baby was all the way in Flagstaff which is a city 2 hours away from where I live :( He has such a smart mouth :p He did say the head was down though and that the baby is getting ready but not quite ready. I wonder if he or she will be ready in 3 weeks, lol. My doctor did say he won't let me go over but he is going to be out of town the week of the 22nd so I would like to have it before then.
I totally feel you on the family thing and I do think you should call her and let her know or tell your husband to do it. I am a firm believer that the husband should always take the wifes side. My MIL thankfully is not coming! I know that if I don't want to be around any of my visitors I will just stay in my bedroom with the baby and breastfeed and stuff. I don't have to come out. If i have diapers and breast thats all I need, lol
PLus if Phil is home you will want some time to yourselves with the baby and make sure he understands that as well as MIL. I will be on here venting!

Cr8nme - Boy, we are just having our own little conversation today! ;) Thanks for letting me know I am not the only one with that pelvic pain. It just came on so suddenly! Felt like Ava was going to just make her way on our of there! lol
Yeah, I do need to call my MIL. I am just so stuck between her and my husband. MY MIL lived with her Mother forever and DH was crazy close to his grandma, so to him, this is a perfectly normal situation, so its hard to reason. Plus, its his mom. I am defensive over my mom too, so I can see where he is coming from. Though in the end, I agree, the husband should always take the wife's side!! Good luck on your inducement plans! Hope all works out!
FYI : The AC is broken AGAIN!!! ARG!!!! WILL THIS NEVER END!!! sheesh. ;) lol

Wow - no posts since yesterday afternoon.......
I had a very productive night - my friends came over and helped me put the second coat in the dining room and the first coat in the 1/2 bath. So, I'll paint again tonight and then tomorrow I have four friends coming over to help me paint the three bedrooms and living room. It is so cool when people come through for you.
Dog update - NOTHING! I can't believe we spent $1,000 at the vet yesterday to have her nose re-scoped and there is nothing there. The poor dog is running around today sneezing blood (needless to say she had to sleep in the garage last night). I'm glad she doesn't have anything major wrong (tumor, etc.), but at least they could have found a foxtail shoved way up there. Now we just wait another month or so and see if she clears up. I can't believe we spent $2,000 in the last month on this issue and still don't know what's wrong with her. BTW - I also gave her Benedryl last weeked to see if it would clear her - it didn't.
philnikki - I hope the A/C is fixed today.

WOW-what a slow thread is right.
I feel so crappy today. I have not been able to get "full". I have eaten breakfast (english muffin) and lunch (leftover chicken rice and peas), with a yogurt and granola bar! Keep in mind it is only almost 12. I still feel hungry and also feel light headed. I'm not sure if my allergies are affecting me or not. I ate dinner last night and about 2 hours later devowered a banana boat! I'm not sure if anyone has such an appetite as I am having. The baby is moving a TON today as well as all day yesterday. I can actually grab his little foot and almost feel his entire leg. I took a video of it and DH almost fainted when he saw how far out the baby pushed!
Brink I'm sorry to hear about your dog-I hope that she gets better soon. $2,000-YIKES!My dog stil is not doing well. My mom thought he was going to die on Sunday, but he looks better she said. When my stepdad comes back from England we are going to put him down. The circle of life I guess :( Good to hear that you are getting some painting done-yay for friends.
Nikki I haven't heard from you-hopefully the baby stayed put yesterday! My DH's b-day is Wednesday!!! He'll be 31. :)

Hey everyone!!
Mitty - Awww!!! What great pics of the boys!! They look like they are really growing!!! So adorable!!!
Brink OMG! $2,000!!! Sounds like you need pet insurance! Sure hope that they find out what is wrong with your doggie soon :(
Randysmandy - Yeah, we are still here. Although we are timing contractions this morning. I still can't believe I never realized how close full term is for me! It seems like 9/3 is so far off, but I swear they were wrong to begin with and that first u/s can be off by 5 days easily. Like I said, last u/s it was saying 8/26 and I always thought 8/27 was the day. So right now, if all of that is right, I am only a week pre-term!! The end is in sight!!!
Here is my current list for contrax...they appear to be slowing, but I will keep you all posted!!

So, I am sure all is well, but its still exciting. I really hope that at my appt. on Wed. my OB gives me some good news as far as my progression is concerned!!
This has been a slow thread lately guys. Those august mommies are so talkative, and we are pretty laid back I guess ;) lol We're just all tired I suppose! lol

Last night and this morning I had the worse lower back pain ever!! I was crying at one point. I was having very mild contractions last night which turned into back pain. Even a massage from my husband was not working.
Brink ~ glad that you have friends coming over to help! My Dh is painting tonight and then tomorrow I am painting our bedroom. I am glad that nothing is wrong withyour dog but $2k to tell you nothing wow.
Mandy ~ I have been having just the opposite I can't seem to finish my normal portions. My stomach seems to be compressed or something?? I have to eat like 6-8 really small meals like an apple here or a small bowl of cereal. It kinda sucks!
Mitty~ Wow they are really growing and looking good. How long do the doctors think thay have to stay in the hospital?
Nikki~ I glad your contractions are slowing. I have heard that late term u/s are not as accurate as the first ones. You may want to talk to your doctor about this.

Good morning everyone.
Cr8nme - I'm glad to hear at least one of your visitors will be staying in a hotel! I was getting stressed out for you!
Brink - Yeah for getting so much help with the painting! I am so sorry you have shelled out so much money to not get any answers on your doggie!
Randysmandy - I think I am having the opposite problem with food, I have to force myself to eat. My h/b is so bad I dread the thought of eating. It's also really frustrating because I'll feel starving, eat two bites and then be full, only to be starving again in an hour. How can you tell which body part the baby is poking out? I haven't been able to do that, but s/he's definitely moving a bunch!
Mitty - Thanks for sharing the new pictures. They are so precious! They both really look like they've grown! How much has their weight changed?
Nikki - I've heard the same thing that Cr8nme mentioned, the first u/s is usually the most accurate as far as dating the pg and later u/s are much less reliable. Regardless, I'm sure Miss Ava will make her appearance when she is good and ready!
My DH took the day off so we can play today. We're going to sit by the pool now, take a walk and have lunch at the beach and we have our last birth class tonight. It should be a great day! Hope all of you have a great day, too!

Cr8nme - YES!! I have that back pain all the time!! It's worse at night when I try to lay on my side (and no amount of pillows under my belly have helped) and it gets bad towards the end of the day after sitting in this work chair all day :( It's all worth it though :)
Ava has hiccups right now ;) lol So cute!

Yes Nikki I have been having the back pain in the same schedule as you have. When I go to lay down and around 5 am this morning. Last night was practically unberarable.
I am in a nesting phase again today so I am off to vacuum and organize!!
I also must do some looking around for a new comforter set for my bedroom.

I also must do some looking around for a new comforter set for my bedroom.
This had me cracking up! Dh is always on my case about changing the comforter sets in my bedroom. I get a new one at least once a year ;) lol
Are you as bad as me when it comes to that??
I have been nesting too. Probably what gave me the urge to start looking at houses out of nowhere ;) lol
Will this day EVER end??? I want to be lazy ;)

Nikki~ I too change my comforter pretty often. Right now I have a duvet with a down comforter inside and it is very hot considering I live in AZ. Dh suggested that we get a whole new set  I still haven't been able to find that neutral chic set I have been looking for,lol

Randysmandy - Sorry to hear your pup is still not doing well. I don't have the issue of not getting full, but one of my friends said the last couple of weeks of her pg she coulnd't eat enough. I can't believe you can actually feel the foot and leg. Have you seen that picture out on the internet of the baby's foot showing through? I always thought it was made up, but could it be real?
Princesscrappy - Yeah for having a day off with your DH. Hope you have a great time.
Mitty - great pics of the boys. So happy to see them doing well.
Philnikki - I actually have pet insurance. I haven't used it for a few years, but I'm definitely submitting this claim. It will be interesting to see how much I get back, I'm not counting on a bunch.
Cr8nme - I haven't had any back pain as severe as yours. It just aches once in a while, but I'm sure my time is coming. Hope you feel better soon.
Well, I really should be working right now - guess I better get back to it.

I had a duvet before too on my down comforter since i change my mind so much! lol I thought it would be perfect for me, but again, I changed to a comforter lol. That is awesome your DH suggested it though. My DH gets pretty peeved at me for it ;) lol I AM bad about it though, so I really dont blame him! K -- I should probably let this thread get back on topic :)

Oh my gosh-I am definitely leaving work early today. I am completely out of things to work on and my boss is gone til about 4. I am Soooooo lazy too! I have a rehearsal dinner to attend with DH (he's in the wedding tomorrow) at 5pm. Should be a beautiful day here. 80's and sunny.
PrincessCrappy-I have come to a point where I know where the baby's back, bum and then his feet/legs. His hiccups give it away. Wherever they are that's where his back is. I talked to the OB and she felt him and the position he was in was the position I had thought! :) As far as knowing if the lump I am feeling is his foot or knee I don't think I know. But when I try and grab it a bit (not to hurt him) it feels like his little heel!
Brink I think that foot pic is fake. I laid on my couch for a good 30 min and everytime he moved I looked and saw only a lump. Maybe cause it was his knee, but seriously, I was thinking that if the pic was real how the h**l did they get that pic so perfect...any more votes????
back pain I have lower belly pain--like right where all the baby's weight is. It is worse at night for me as well. I almost hate going to sleep cause in the morning I can barely move.
Nesting I'm obsessing about the nursery and having everything organized before he comes. Keep in mind that the only things I have left to do is:
Pack my bag
Organize the bathroom cabinets
Put Hunter's pack and play together
Put the carseat/bases and stroller in the cars
I ordered a baby sling today--my friend makes them pretty cheap--YAY! If anyone wants I can post her website.
Oh I forgot to tell this story:I found my cat sitting in the baby's crib yesterday-and the other cat climbing the side to get into it!!!!!!!!! We now have a water bottle by the door and plastic bags in the crib. I have to admit-my kitty looked cute just sitting in there. Looks like we will have our hands full with all our babies.
Hopefully my belly will stop wanting so much food. I had some trail mix and now I am content and so is the baby-he is napping now!

Mitty - The boys looks great! Sooo darn cute :) Hope all is going well with you and your family.
Brink - Glad your dog is "ok" but that bites about the $ though. I hope that she gets to feeling better - she is probably tired of people poking and proding her.
Randysmandy - I want to leave work early too!!
PrincessCrappy - Have fun with your DH today :) A day off would be nice!
Back Pain - I had some horrible back pain this morning when I first woke up (just after I told everyone how great I was feeling...hmmmm). Once I got up and took a shower, it went away. Hoping it was from sleeping in a funny position or something.
Eating - I can't eat enough either. I am connnstantly hungry! I just got back from lunch and am hungry again!!
Weekend plans are: work. Work, work and more work. DH will be working on Addy's room and I have things to do for work. Ick.

Wow, I just had to catch up on about 4 pages!! I've been really super busy at work (so no CC time during the day) and then I've been busy in the evenings (walking dog, bbq for work, etc). Here's my sorry attempt at s/o's, answers, etc.
cr8nme - Keep us posted!! How exciting!!
back pain - YES YES YES. About 2 weeks ago, this spot on the right side of my spine started aching. It's the worst at the end of the day at my desk or if I sit in one spot for too long (like when out with friends or at dinner). I'm such a wimp with pain, but it hurts so bad! Poor DH has rubbed and rubbed until I feel bruised and his hands are sore!
pelvic pain - YES YES YES. About 2 weeks ago, I noticed this shooting pain down through my crotch (to be precise!). Mostly I get it while walking, but I've got it here and there while sitting (I notice it a few times a day). I know from my u/s that the baby's head is really low, so maybe it's just the extra pressure from the head being down and the baby getting bigger?
appetite - I also have the opposite problem, I have NO appetite. I have to force feed myself bc I know I have to eat. Then no matter how little I eat it makes me uncomfortable, I definitely have no stomach left. Then a majority of what I eat makes me have an upset stomach, so I've been living on Tums and cereal.
mitty - Very cute pic's of the boys!!
My best friend is due on Wednesday, I can't WAIT to meet her little boy!!! It's been so fun sharing our pregnancies together (she's 7 weeks ahead of me), and once her baby is here, it will feel so much closer until my own is here!!
labor buddies -

Wow, Michelle! Keep us posted on the contrax...
Mitty - your boys are just darling!
wildcat - I've noticed that I am hungry during the day, but just can't make myself eat at night... haven't had a real dinner in a week. Hope all goes well for your friend!! My best friend is due about 10 weeks after us, & she is having a boy too!
Brink - this is from awhile ago, but I wanted to sympathize with you on the vet bill....Our pup (sully) had to go in to get a foxtail out of his nose & they couldn't find anything either! He had also been sneezing blood. But his nose healed up & now he is fine. I'll be thinking good thoughts for your dog!!
Today I *have* to get stuff done around the house!! It is a disaster & I've been avoiding it all week! (what else is new  ) C'mon nesting!!

No baby yet! I didn't have very many contractions over night. Just a really tight belly and killer back pains :( Now that I am up and around they are back. Haven't timed them yet but I just had breakfast and I am off to home depot. My back is still killing me. I know this is TMI but is anyone else having loose stools?
hi :) i was able to catch up in bits and pieces and noticed some of you talking about back pain.
back pain~
i had one awful night where i couldn't sleep b/c back pain was so bad. tylenol didn't even help for long. the nurse told me that i could use a heating pad and this really helped take the pain away. wanted to mention in case this may help some of you! :)

Cr8nme: With both my pregnancies, I had loose stools right before I delivered. I initially thought the cramps/contractions I had were due to that not the baby.
Cr8nme
07-30-2005, 04:39 PM
Mitty~ Thank you for responding. I know its really TMI but I think I am going 2 times as much as I was before as well. I am having tons of pressure in the vaginal area. I just think that when it really is the time it will be so surreal. At the doctor on Wednesday he said I was not dialted at all so I wonder how fast that can change. Do you think my pains are just stronger braxton hicks?
mittyrd
07-30-2005, 04:52 PM
Cr8nme: I know lots of people who had loose stools before going into labor. Dilation can definitely change in a matter of hours. My real contractions were completely different from my Braxton Hicks contractions. My contractions with both pregnancies were like gas pains from he!! right under my belly button. And they hurt way more than any Braxton Hick I had (or more than anything else I've ever had). But everyone is different..........

Right now my stomach is very tight and my back is killing me.

Cr8nme - How are you feeling? I know that my sister and a few other ladies I know had loose stools before going into labor. That was one of my sisters earlier indications (she's had 5 babies :) but everyone is different. Keep us posted.
I can officially say the heat is bothering me today - I have felt like a sloth all day. It's about 98 here (I think!). I have been inside most of the afternoon with the most wonderful fan :) I don't have much of an appetite and have a funny headache that feels like I drank too much caffiene or sugar but I haven't had any. Hoping it goes away!

cr8nme - How are you feeling this evening? Without our tickers, I'm so clueless how far along we are, how many weeks are you now? Do you know if your dr. would try to stop labor if you were to go now or would he/she deliver? Am I remembering right that the baby is a surprise? Is that enough questions yet?:D
With my DH out of town, I have no idea what to do with myself! Last night I came home from work and chatted on the phone for awhile with my mom and a friend, and then was so tired from the long work week, that I was going to take a 30 minute nap and then take my dog to the park, but instead woke-up 2.5 hours later at 9:30!! So, I just watched some tv and played on the computer and then went to bed. Today, I took my dog to the park, bummed around the house some more, and then spent the afternoon organizing the nursery (I hadn't put away all the gifts from my first shower yet and have another Friday and didn't want to have to do it all at once!). So, I have the 2nd load of baby laundry going, with 2 more to go (that includes clothes, sheets, blankets, whites!). Oh - and we got our carseat delivered today and it goes really well with our stroller! We got the Zooper Waltz stroller in red:
http://www.billyandashlee.com/gallery/albums/userpics/10001/normal_IMG_0379.jpg
and then the new higher weight limit Graco snugride in Metropolitan (22lb and 29inches, finally found on www.babycenter.com):
http://store.babycenter.com/MEDIA/ProductCatalog/46518_206384_md.jpg
Oh - and my mom keeps giving me updates on what my relatives are buying for my family shower in a few weeks. I guess my aunt has bought our mobile, my grandma bought the Aquarium swing, and my other grandparents bought the pack-n-play!! I really don't think we're going to have to buy much! All we've bought so far is the carseat (which my parents were planning to buy but I didn't know it!) and the furniture (of course the most pricey, but we expected to buy that!). There are just a a few things that I can think of like the changing pad and cover, mattress pad, and playmat gym thing, depending on what we get for the next 2 showers! I feel so fortunate to have such great friends and family (although I think my parents have bought at least half of what we have!).
going home outfits - Anyone want to post their going home outfits? Since the gender is a surprise, I'm buying both a boy one and a girl one. I posted the girl outfit last week (pink outfit from Gymboree), but I'm having a HORRIBLE time finding something for a boy and need ideas!!! I'd like something in a soft blue and white, maybe a onsie with pants, maybe a jacket, and cute little socks and hat (I'm not too picky or anything!). I like the one from Gymboree that someone posted a few days ago (the castle and dragon one), but want a few more options! Post yours or offer ideas would be great!
I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend!!

Cr8nme - Hope that you are doing well. As far as "real" contractions, I believe that the pain (cramping and tightening) usually moves from your back to your belly, or can stay mostly in your back whereas BH really aren't painful and are just a tightening in your belly. As far as the loose stools, definetely can be a sign of labor or your body getting ready. For the past couple of weeks I alternate between that and being constipated. Finally, I feel for you! I had real contractions for several hours every night for 10 days before I delivered my son. They almost always happened at night and were just close enough together that I couldn't sleep in between them. I was so exhausted.
mittyrd - Oh my goodness those are the cutest boys I have seen since Aidan was born:) I am so glad that they are gaining weight. Keep taking care of yourself OK!
appetite - No problems here:)
back pain - Oh man yes! I can hardly walk when I get up in the morning even after placing all of my pillows in the recommended places. Friday was so bad that I bribed my son with 10 minutes of Blues Clues so that I could lay in bed for a bit longer. I have the general achiness but also shooting pain.
So a couple of nights ago I had my first real contractions and then a few more in the morning. Crazy to think how close we are getting. The nursery is pretty much done, the bassinet is cleaned and up in the bedroom, clothes are being washed this week and I plan pull out the carseat and wipe in down tomorrow.
Dh and I went to our pre-admission appt with a L an D nurse Friday afternoon. I did not deliver at this hospital last time so it was good to go over there policies. We were able to sign some paperwork regarding delaying vaccinations in the hospital and getting the baby's SSN and birth cert. We were also able to really talk about the things that are most important including no pacifiers, bottles or formula, no mention of drugs unless I ask and having the baby stay with me for one hour after birth . If we call ahead, the nurse will set up the room including a birthing ball, rocking chair and labor stool. She wrote a detailed list of all of this so that anyone that comes to take care of me can read it ahead of time and not be asking me any questions while in labor. They don't do regular meals in post partum, you just call whenever you are hungry and they bring up what you want in 30 minutes - great for when you are hungry at 3am. If all goes smoothly I can go home after 24-36 hours and then have a home visit if I want on day 4. The only thing that I was dissapointed to hear was that my OB requires a Hep lock to be put in right when you arrive. I was hoping to avoid that unless I got an epidural because I find in so uncomfortable - I have terrible veins in my hands so they always end up having to put in way up by my wrist. I think that I will talk to her next time about this. I also have to remind myself to ask her how she feels about being in tub after my water breaks - last time it was not allowed. I feel really great about everything - so great in fact that I have a feeling that this one is going to stay put until at least my DD if not later. Whatever - she will come when she is ready. I just hope that she is ready about 39 weeks ;)
I hope that you all are doing well. We are going to the zoo in the am so I am off to bed.

Hey ladies I am not feeling so well thank you to those who asked. I am having the worse back pain and contractions. I haven't been able to time them yet but my stomach is sooo tight it is lopsided. Dh says my stomach feels gross  Wildcat I am 35 weeks today and no my doctor won't stop labor from now on. Which is a good thing I guess. Oha nd yes this baby is a surprise. I don't even have an outift for the little one to come home in yet :( Maybe I will have to pull out one fo the onsies with a matching blanket and that will do fine since it was 107 here today
I am also having some pressure in my hoo ha.
About to get a shower see if that relaxes me. I just want something to happen either way.
Hope everyone is well!

pixie - I'm the same way. I almost feel like a hobbit during the day. I eat breakfast, 2nd breakfast, lunch, noonsies, and around 2. But after that, i have to force myself! If I forget to eat, then around 10:00 when I'm so tired I can't think, it suddenly hits that I'm starving!
Mitty - beautiful boys!!
cr8mne - yes, loose ones here too. I've also been cramping like a period off and on for the past week or so, so I kinda thought they were related. But I'm not going *more* than normal. Hope you're feeling a little better. I've noticed a good shower/bath helps wwith my BH's, and if I recall, it helped with the real ones too.
back pain - definitely. I wake up every morning, and you can honestly HEAR a grinding noise in my back as I walk. After about 15 minutes, it goes away.
I'm still here, and little bit's still there. At our u/s last week, he was finally flipped the right way, head down, although curved oddly. I had the tech show me where in my belly each part was so that I can identify what the heck is beating me up. He was about 4lbs 4oz according to the machine.
Just feeling large, miserable, and irritable here. Which is hard to reconcile with a very active 2 year old. Poor kid. He did finally point at my belly and say baby though, pretty neat.
Speaking of which, someone wants his breakfast! Have a good day today ladies!

Wow you guys were really talkative this weekend! I will try some So's and then I actually have to get a bath :p. I swear, I have been the worst on the weekends at attempting to get cleaned up. Just want to lie around all day!
Cr8nme - Sure hope you start feeling better soon. I like following your symptoms since we are due on the same day. So far, no loose stool for this chic though. Completely the opposite, in fact! Keep us posted on how you are doing. My OB also said that she would not stop labor for me now either. I have my appt. on Wed for Group B strep, and another US. Also will have my first internal since 9 weeks. I am guessing you are on weekly appts. now??
wildcat - Thanks again for doing all of the work for the labor buddies! I love the stroller and carrier!! So cute! As far as tickers go, you can put a link to your ticker in your signature if you want. If you click on my Ava Grace countdown, you'll see my ticker! Let me know if you want to include it and I will show you how! :)
hisdaffodil - I hear ya on feeling large, irritable and miserable ;) We are almost there!!!
AlisonCO - Congrats on your pre-reg at the hospital. DH and I do this on Wed of this week. Thanks for the recap of all of the things you get to get set up then! I now have a better idea as to what to expect!!
Well guys, that is about it for me. Oh -- And we are making an offer on a house!!!!!!! We found one we totally love. So keep your fingers crossed all goes smoothly. I would love to be all settled into our new abode by the end of Oct. Its nice though that I will have my maternity leave to deal with the bank etc. and selling our house. If you want to see more about it, I have pics in my journal :)
Take Care ladies!!

alisonco (and others that are pre-registering). How does it work at your hospital? We just filled out stuff at home and sent it in, did you do that first? Or just meet with someone and then did everything then? I'm planning to do very similar things as you in terms of no drugs, no bottles or pacifiers, and non separation. I'm not sure when this goes to the hospital though, with us when we are in labor or before? I know my OB said it will be in my chart, but I'd love to know more about hospital policies, etc. I doubt we'll be able to get around the HEP lock either.
Also, are you delaying the HEP B vaccine? Just curious. I'm trying to figure that one out right now.
TIA!
Cr8nme - I hope you get some relief soon. Sounds like a shower would definitely help. Take care.
mitty - your boys are beautiful.

Good Morning or shall I just say Morning( I am grouchy, lol)
The shower did help alot and DH gave me a massage which really helped but alas the pain is back this morning. Not so much in the abdomen area but a lot on the back!
Nikki ~ I was doing the same thing as far as keeping up with you since we are due date twins, lol Um I have been going weekly since I had the bleeding so about 2 weeks now. I had the group B strep test last week and an internal in which I was completely closed. My doctor did say that we will talk about the results this week.
Pre-registering ~ I pre-registered a while ago and when I went for bleeding they had me sign some papers btu we didn't talk about my prefereces which are similar to Alison's. In my hospital thought the baby never leaves your room. The baby gets the hearing screening, first bath and everything in your room. They have a whole section of the room allocated for the baby with the heat lamp and everything. They have a whirlpool(you can't get in after your waters breaks) birthing ball, and CD player. Oh but the baby does leave the room for circumcision and then comes back shortly after. They have that the day after they are born. I haven't talked about bottles. paci's, and no drugs but my husband said he will let them know when we get there. I am probably going to type it up and talk with my doctor about it this week. I also see a lactation consultant within 24 hours of the birth and then 1 week after the birth. My hospital even has a spa  and you can get manicures, pedicure and spray tans during your visit, lol
solongtogo ~ I haven't even told my doctor :o I guess I am in denial and waiting for something big to happen. I am going to let him know on Wednesday when I see him that all of this is going on if I don't go into labor before then

Cr8nme - Sorry to hear you are still feeling so rotten. I hope you either start to feel better or that baby arrives.
jo&sean - haven't heard anything lately on your remodel. How is the nursery coming?
Pre-register - we pre-registered and I stopped by and signed all of the paperwork, but nothing about a delivery plan. I think you just tell them on the day you arrive and they write it in their chart. The nurse did say that you have to tell them about the "no bottle" or they will automatically feed your baby the first time for you. I have to make sure DH is on top of that one, I don't want her little tummy getting stretched out in the very beginning.
I am sooooo tired today. I had six friends come over and help with the painting yesterday, yeah!!!! We got both coats done on all of the rooms. I am really picky on the window trim and ceiling line, so I insisted on doing all of that myself. So, I got the first coat of all of that done yesterday and now will spend the next four or five days putting the second coat on. That is the price for being so picky. But, today I haven't done much. I think I pushed it way to hard yesterday (painting for 12 hours straight) and I'm paying for it today. DH also worked hard yesterday but just doesn't get why I am so much more tired than he is. He's out there working away today and I just keep going and doing little things and then sitting back down. It will almost be a relief to go back to work tomorrow (can't believe I said that). It is looking great. We are down to finish electrical, finish plumbing, moldings (door and floor) and flooring. The big stretch is to get it all done in the next two weeks. We'll see how close we come.
Hope everyone is having a great weekend.

pre register - At my 28 week visit, my obgyn gave me my pre-registration packet for the hospital. First, I had to sent in an information form (which was the same form I filled out when I went to L&D for spotting a week earlier). Then, we had an appt with the hospital for pre-registration where they ran through things like who is your pediatrician, do you want the baby circumcized (if it's a boy), routine shots/tests, etc. I have written our birth plan that I will pack in my hospital bag and give to my L&D nurse when I go into labor and arrive at the hospital. There is a really easy website you can use to create yours, that our birth class instructor recommended, www.birthplan.com.
baby socks - I am getting all the baby things washed this weekend (which makes it seem SO REAL knowing I have laundry to do for someone else!!) and have a question about baby socks maybe for second time moms. Do you fold them? It just seems if I fold them, I could stretch them out, but yet how do you keep them together? I thought about safety pins? Any recommendations are appreciated!!:D

Labor Buddies
Labor buddies have been assigned! I will be sending the 2 buddies an email with eachothers email addresses and the two of you can email eachother to determine the method of communication you want to use when you go into labor (i.e. email, phone, etc)! The idea is to have a line of contact to update us on your labor status as we will be anxiously awaiting news on you and your new bundle of joy!
I matched up everyone who put in a request for a specific person as their labor buddy. There is one three-way request as we had an odd number of mommies. If you have not signed up yet and wish to be included, you will be added on as a three-way so as not to break-up any already established pairs, please email me at aswearingen@gmail.com if you wish to be added!

Any changes Michelle?
Brink - No remodeling update...still trying not to stress out about it but omg, we are getting so close. Actually, DH has blocked out this coming Friday and weekend along with scheduling a couple of his crew guys to come help so WE WILL SEE PROGESS. Once we get the drywall done, everything else will fall into place.
Sounds like you had one busy day yesterday!! 12 hours of painting is a lot of painting!
Wildcat - Thanks for doing all of the work on the labor buddy task :) It's funny because we chose the same car seat and stroller as you did - except we ordered the black and silver Zooper. We found our car seat at elitecarseats.com. I can't wait for them to get here so I can play with them!
Pre-registering - I called our hospital and they told me over the phone they wouldn't let me pre-register until I was 36 weeks. Ack! I asked my dr about it at my last appt and he said I could do it after my next appt with him which is this Friday. He said he would tell them he thought it was necessary to help ease my need to get all this crap done ;)
Not much new here. The heat didn't bother me today like it did yesterday - I think it might have been allergies bothering me yesterday too. I so don't want to go to work tomorrow....

Morning, ladies!
wildcat - Thanks for all the work!!
cr8 - I'm also having that problem!! I really don't want to go buy larger maternity clothes so close to the end, but I may have to. My belly peeks out between my bottoms and tops now, and some of my pants are too tight, even with the stretchy!!
remods - ours isn't even started still! I have to get ahold of the contractor today and find out what's up. I know it'll be at least another week because while he waited on us to get insurance paperwork, he got another couple of jobs. But he promised me it'd be done by Sept 1. I did spend yesterday sanding a built-in I've been working on. I've got all the shelving up and just have to build the cabinet for the bottom. But I sanded and painted yesterday, whee. 12 hours would have been a bit tooo much!
I am not doing so well this morning. I can barely walk. I have no clue what's up, but if I move my right leg, I get a horrible shooting pain in my lower tummy and my lower back. any clues??? If it doesn't go away soon, I guess I'll have to call in and see a doctor!

Michelle - When's your next check-up? Sounds like things might be progressing for you :) Take good care of yourself!!
hisdaffodil - Sorry about your leg! I've had that come and go - usually once I'm up for a bit it goes away.. how long have you been feeling this? Baby might be pressing on a nerve..
Today our nursery is built! We're having temporary walls put up this morning - (we live in a one-bedroom apt. in NYC), and painting will happen tomorrow. This is going to make things feel so real! I hope it looks good...
Next check-up is Wednesday August 3rd, for first internal, strep test, and sonogram, along with an interview with a pediatrician, and the "meet the doctors" night at my practice.

Good Morning everyone!! Feeling pretty good this morning. Only had to get up four times last night!! And went right back to sleep every time! This baby is giving mommy a break for once ;) lol
Not too much to report. I can't wait for this Wed. bc then I get to my Group B strep test, Epi screening, and and ultrasound. oh! and i get to pre-reg at the hospital that day too!! So fun :) Hopefully we will know more then about what the next four weeks will entail. I can't believe today is the first day in the month I am likely to give birth  I feel so unprepared!! I guess we'll just have to roll with it though, lol.
wildcat - Such a good moderator you are! I have been waaay too lazy with updates! Sorry :( And thank you so much for all of your hard work with labor buddies! So exciting!! You girls with surprise babies are going to be the most fun since we have all been specualting all along!! lol
hisdaffodil- Yikes!! I sure hope you can get it all done! We are going to try and buy a new house in the middle of all of this, so I feel your pain! Speaking of pain, are you feeling any better???
Clothes Issues - TELL me about it! My goodness, I feel like two-ton tilly over here. Hardly anything fits. Mainly bc she has just dropped so low that now the elastic bands in the pants are way to restrictive and my shirts are now not long enough to cover her up entirely.
Have a great day ladies!!!

I'm too far behind to do SOs, but know that I care and that I am here reading!
I'm 34 weeks tomorrow. Still feeling pretty good, but HOT.
My hands and feet are quite swollen. Even my "wide" shoes I bought at payless leave marks on my feet. I'm pretty much down to those (which are gold!) and my pink tevas. So funny that everything I own can be worn with gold flats or pink flops. HA! and I am usually such a shoe whore. My hands actually hurt--like I have arthritis!
My class reunion was last weekend and it went smashingly. Better than we hoped (I was one of 4 planning it). It wasn't seeming worth all the trouble, but in the end it was.
My shower is coming up this weekend. I only invited a few people, and think I will only end up with 12 or so there. I went to a big shower this weekend for a friend, which kind of made me regretful---but I really just felt like a gift grubber and couldn't do it. We haven't been very social lately and I just couldn't invite people that I hadn't seen in months.
We started hypnobirthing this past week. The first session wasn't as helpful as I hoped. But I do think it is a good compliment to Bradley. Bradley is awesome! I'm so glad we are doing those classes.
I've been re-reading the "Thinking Woman's Guide..." in preparation of getting my birthplan together. Are you guys working on yours? There is such good info in that book!
I've been swimming the past few days at the YMCA pool. It has been fabulous! I wish I would have taken advantage all summer. If you guys have access to a pool try it! It makes you feel so light--taking so much pressure off the belly.
The exciting thing is that now we can say our babies are due NEXT MONTH. Woo-hoo!
You guys that are doing home renovations are super women! I can't believe it! I'm keeping my fingers crossed that things go well for you!

Hello LB! A lady in my lamaze class got a pain really bad-like a knife. The teacher told her to put her legs up and use a cold compress. It was the babyon her nerve and very common. I would call your OB if it persists though.
clothes
Most of my clothes are getting too small as well. I am coming to a point where I don't care if my belly pokes out cause I don't want to spend more money--unless my work clothes start to feel snug.
wildcat Thanks for your hard work!!!I am exhausted today from all the partying we did this weekend at a wedding..weekend long wedding!!! I have the day off tomorrow so I can spend it with my Dad-he is leaving for Iraq soon :( At least I will be able to relax at my gram's lakehouse. I have my step test in the am..wish me luck!

Wow, I can't believe that some of you all are so close already!
I just wanted to check in. We closed on our house on Friday and the movers will be here on Wednesday. We spent the entire weekend painting and I'm just taking a break from last minute packing.
I've noticed AF like cramping the last few days. It's very faint, but noticable. I think that I've just been overdoing it getting ready for the move. But I did have contractions for a month in my first pregnancy and went around 3cm dialated for 3 weeks. So, I'm not actually expecting anything exciting to be happening anytime soon.
I hope that everyone is doing well.

randy - that's pretty much what she said too! I refuse to have a cold compress between my legs though, so I just suffered through. It finally went away and I can walk now. Yay!
Speaking of babies on the nerves, last pregnancy DS sat on some nerve that made a weird numb spot on my stomach for weeks. It was quite odd.
random note - maternity bras... I just got 2 awesome maternity bras at Motherhood. One is a sleep bra and it is SOOOOO comfy, and only 12 bucks! And I just got one in the mail today from Birth and Baby, which I ordered through Amazon, it's the Q-T maternity and it was only 15.65 and I'm wearing it now and it's really comfy! Last time I had such a hard time with finding decent bras that were fairly priced, and It's been so nice to have good bras that fit this time. BTW, Motherhood will measure you for the right fit too. My size has totally changed from Pre-pg, cup and chest measurement!
Another side note, at least at the Motherhood here, they're giving away gift bags with purchases. They have awesome stuff in 'em, including a Gerber Nuk pacifier, organic cleaners, Ensure for pregnant/nursing moms, and an Avent bottle! Best freebie bag I've gotten so far, anyway!

hisdaffodil Thanks for the info!! Might have to go check that out!!
So today has royally sucked a$$. We found out that bc we got a consolidation loan to pay off some student loans and a couple of credit cards that we are going to have to pay it off completely before we sell our house :( It's way too much to pay right now on top of putting a down payment on our current home. Our only hope is to get it transferred to another bank as a personal loan not leaned on the house. The sad thing is, if it had been out there as it was before we consolidated it, we wouldn't have a problem :( Doesnt make much sense, huh? Anyway -- I really liked the house, but I am thinking about telling DH tonight that it is too much. DH likes for me to deal with this stuff since I am an accountant, but I just feel so stressed....I just feel like I can't handle selling the house, buying a new one, and dealing with all of these issues with the bank in the middle of the impending birth of our baby. Just is overwhelming me right now :( I want to cry!! Hopefully DH will be ok with it. I am sure he will, but it stinks we won't be able to get into that house. I just feel so tired of dealing with it already.
Anyway --- hope I didn't bring any of you down with my ramble. Just wanted to get that out there.
Thanks for *listening* :)

Nikki - I wouldn't want to even think about selling a house, buying a new one, packing and moving at all right now. Yikes! That is a lot to handle right now. I was having an issue with us even trying to deal with selling one of our investment properties right now.
Beachbum - I can so relate to your comment about your shower. Mine is this Saturday and there will probably be around 12 people there too. I wasn't even excited about having one for a while because I didn't want people to think I just wanted gifts. But then it obvious that so many people like to buy gifts just because and that makes it very special. Glad your reunion went well!
Sabre - Glad everything is going well for you :)
Hisdaffodil - Glad the pain went away finally. Was it your sciatica?
Wildcat/cr8zyforaf - I would be happy to take on another labor buddy :) Just let me know if you need an extra to pair up with.
Clothes/Shoes - I am outgrowing my shirts. I so don't want to spend any more $$ on maternity clothes for another 6 weeks of wear but then again, I can't have my belly hanging out at the office :p I haven't had too much trouble with swolen feet but I am wearing comfortable shoes now instead of all my "fun" shoes...which is really depressing because just like Beachbum, I am a total "shoe-whore". Just thinking about it makes me sad :( All those boxes filling up my closet with fun shoes....
Is it Friday yet?

My DH is home!! yeah!! He went to Las Vegas (for work) last Tuesday and got home last night! His flight was supposed to get in at 11:45pm but was delayed and he didn't land until after 1am and didn't get home until after 2am. Of course I couldn't sleep until he got home and then we chatted for awhile and it was after 3am when I got to sleep!! I "slept in" until 7:30 this morning, so working on 4.5 hours of sleep here 8 months pregnant is not good! I can't wait to go home and actually see my husband for the first time in a week!! I just wish work wasn't so busy, but it's going to take a back seat tonight!
cr8zyforaf - I'm so sorry you didn't get included!! I posted a list a few pages ago (sometime last week) to make sure we got everyone included before I assigned everyone, somehow we must have missed eachother! If you and pixiecatdon't mind, I may assign you two together (you at beginning of Sept and her at the end), that way we break our 3way! I'll send you both an email tonight!!
Nikki - Wow, that would be really overwhelming on a normal day, let alone a 8-9 month pregnant day!! It will work out however it is supposed to, I'm sure! Let us know how it goes with DH! No problem on the updates, there really weren't that many and I was just waiting for DH's flight to get in last night!
hisdaffodil - Thanks for the nursing bra info! I have heard Target has some good cheap ones, so I was going to get 1-2 to start out with and then see how it goes after the baby is born. I know my size has grown too (was a 36A, now I imagine it's a small B), so I need to go get measured!
sabre - Congrat's on the new house! Can't wait to see pics of the nursery as you get started!

Nursing bra question - I know the bb's have grown since getting pg, but won't they grow a bunch more while nursing? If I buy a bra now, what are the odds that it will fit when I get home? Any second time mom's know?
It is so busy at work right now. I'm just getting swamped with stuff and unless I work late I don't know how I'm going to get it done. I have so much going on at home right now that it is really hard to stay after 5:00. On a good note, I did interview someone today that sounded great. We may be making her an offer by the end of the week. She wouldn't start until around September 1st - but that's better than nothing.
Philnikki - sorry about the loans and it not working out on the new house. Since moving would be such a bear, maybe it is for the best????
Clothes - definitely growing out of my tops. I'm in the same boat that I don't want to buy any more, but I don't see how I'm going to get through work without them. I'll see if I can hold off for another week at least.
Shoes - total shoe whore here too. I've just been wearing my regular shoes but notice they are becoming more uncomfortable. I may have to go buy some new ones to get me thorugh the last month at work. On a scary note - my sister increased by 1/2 size after pg and it never went back down! What would I do with all of my wonderful shoes that wouldn't fit anymore?

Hi everyone - I just go back from my 34 week check up. Everything is looking great. The baby is measuring right on target and the heartrate was nice and strong. I lost another 4 lbs, the nurse seemed super concerned, the doctor thought it was great?! I'm up a total of 5 lbs for the entire pregnancy. The doctor explained that with the baby measuring as big as it is, I'm just doing a super great job at staying healthy. I failed to mention that my latest craving has been for McDonald's cheeseburgers and fries...um, yeah, healthy! I have a sinus infection/cold thing going on right now and I feel miserable. I haven't been able to sleep for the last 3 nights. My doc said it was fine to take Tylenol PM, but I think I'm going to try to tough it out again tonight before I start taking anything (of course, everyone I talk to says it super common to get a cold *right* before going into labor  ). While he was poking around my belly, he just grabbed the baby's head with one hand and said look at how perfectly lined up it is, nice and low. I couldn't believe I could see the shape of my kid's head in my doctor's hand! It really is perfectly lined up with the "chute" just waiting to drop more! I also did the GBS test. Have any of you done the "self" test? They gave me the swab and sent me to the restroom to do it myself. Now, I'm totally paranoid that I did it wrong and what if we end up with a false negative? Just one more thing to worry about....
My next appointment is: August 15 for an u/s and August 16 for my check up. I start my weekly appointments after that, so far I have the following dates scheduled: August 22 and August 29.
Wildcat - That is great that your hubby is home! Enjoy your night together! Thanks for getting the labor buddies assigned!
Nikki - I am so sorry about the house stress! You're right, though, it is definitely too much for a very pg woman to handle right now!
Hisdaffodil - Thanks for nursing bra info! I need to get some, but I'm not sure when the best time is to be measured? Now?
Sabre - Congrats on closing on the house!
Beachbum - I have been procrastinating on my birthplan. The practice we go to gave us a list of what they consider standard practices, so we don't need to duplicate any of it in our birthplan. There are still a few things I want to add that are specific to us, though. If I get a second, I'll try to post the list they gave us, maybe it will help someone here. I went swimming on Friday. For the first time, it really hurt to kick my legs, I just felt these strange pains in my lower tummy.
I have my last shower this Saturday, and I am completely stumped on what to give as hostess gifts. Anyone have any ideas?

brink~ I was told go up one band size, one cup size for the engorgment period. Then once your supply evens out a bit you will probably have to buy more bras. I'm not too sure if that is completely true (I didn't bf last time). But I'm in a 36C right now and was told, at Motherhood to buy a 38D.

Hello Ladies~ I went back to work today and boy I feel great. That seems strange to say. We will see how long this lasts. I was a bit rude to a couple people who said some stupid stuff. Such as "YOu don't look big enough to be delivering in 1 month" How dumb is that. Oh and then a lady told me I looked "puffy" so I in turn said "I really don't think that is the right thing to say to a pregnant woman who is pretty close to giving birth... that would be just like me saying wow you look puffy and your only excuse is that you are fat" See why I don't have people skills
Last night I was up most of the night. I was either thinking or peeing, lol
Nikki ~ Sorry you had such a sucky day. All things happen for a reason this may be a blessing in disguise ;)
hisdaffodil~I also got some really great bras at motherhood a few weeks back! I heard a lot of moms say that they like Target as well for the nursing tanks. I may check them out!
PrincessCrappy ~ Glad everything is going well. You know they say you loose weight right before you go into labor ;)

Just got a call from my OB's office (they leave you voicemails from their office on a private voicemail service) so I called the number typed in my passcode and the wonderful words I wanted to hear was "Your Group B strep" test came back and it was negative!!!! :D :D I am happy because I want to try to do the whole labor thing natural and I know if I would have tested positive I would have had to have an IV and anti-biotics.

Thanks to wildcat, jo&sean, Brink, PrincessCrappy, and Cr8nme for your thoughts and support on the whole house issue. DH and I talked it over and we are waiting till Oct. 1st We think we might be able to get the financing straightened out by then, and then we will know a lot more info (like how much little Ava is going to cost us! ) So that made me feel better. I am going to let DH take care of it! Phew!!!
Nursing Bras - I got mine at JCP for a buy two get one free sale. They are the Underscore Brand. Was told by a friend she liked them best. Anyway - I was told to get a whole cup size bigger. I am a 36 C and the lady at the store said I needed at 36 D  I still can't beleive I actually purchased a D cup! Anyway -- I got the three, so I am going to try and go with the one during engorgement and then exchange the other two if I get too small after that. Kept my receipt though in case Nursing does not work for us! I guess we'll see!!
Cr8nme - Yeah on the negative result!!! You must be so excited!! Mine is on Wed. so hopefully we'll know by the end of this week!! Woo hoo!!!
PrincessCrappy- You have so got me craving McD's cheeseburgers and fries right now. I think I might go get some after this post (right around the corner, but it IS 9:30 at night lol) Of course, its not like I am going to get to sleep anyway
Feeling much better now ladies! Thanks again for all of your help!! What great WC buddies I have!!!!

You know they say you loose weight right before you go into labor Bite your tongue!! :) While I am beyond excited about meeting this baby and finding out the gender, etc., I'm just not feeling any of those "get this baby out of me now" type feelings (yet). I guess I am just so worried about any complications that may arise from it coming too early and I just really, really want the baby to be born in September. I am focusing on September 1st, early but not too early ;) .
Nikki - Sorry about sharing the McD's cravings. If I were not pg, I would not eat there in a million years! Thanks for mentioning JCP has maternity bras. I always forget they have maternity stuff there.
Cr8nme - Yeah for negative results!!

wildcat - don't worry about it - it was my fault - I haven't been online since last Wednesday (I've been on vacation) so I must have missed the list you posted. Glad to hear that hubby is back home - that must be nice!
Philnikki - sorry about the loans and the new house not working out - don't stress over it - it is probably a good idea to wait until Ava arrives and take it from there. Buying a house is stressful and I don't think you need more stress at this point :) .
PrincessCrappy - yum - McDonalds - all I ate for the first 4 months was McDonalds - specifically French fries and milkshakes. Glad to hear the Dr appointment went well. I think I found the weight that you lost - I am petrified to go to the Dr this Thursday- I am sure I am up a ton!
Cr8nme - Glad to hear your test came back negative. No one has even mentioned this test to me - however, I know that I am positive for Strep B - I guess I should mention that.
Nursing Bras - haven't even thought about these - I am so behind on everything. I guess I should go buy some.
clothes/shoes - also popping out of all my stuff which is depressing - I so do not want to go buy more cr*p at this point. And I am also a shoe whore - most of mine do not fit. The same thing happened to my sister - she went up a half of a size and they never shrunk back down :( ...I will be very upset. I bought a cute pair of knee high boots that I paid a fortune for at Christmas time and have never even put them on...if they no longer fit, I will be p*ssed.
My next appointment is on 8/4 - who knows what they are going to do since communication doesn't seem to be a strong point with my doctors. I think after this one, I go to every week appointments. I also set up a massage for after my appointment.. I can't wait.
groin pain - is anyone else feeling horrible pressure and pain - sometimes I feel like my v*gina is going to crack in half the pain and pressure is so bad...it even wakes me up at night. And, it is getting harder to walk - I feel like either the baby is going to fall out, or I am going to pee myself.

So as if to make things worse, I woke up with a cold this morning. I mean, seriously  like the whole house thing wasn't bad enough at 9 months preggo -- now this!!??? I just keep looking forward to tomorrow when I get to see Miss Ava Grace (I have an u/s). I think you guys are right and I just want to give up on the whole house thing for awhile. DH just doesnt want me to travel as far as I have to (I have to drive about 40 miles to and from every day to work) but its really not that bad. My job is so laid back now compared to what I had before I really dont mind. To be honest, the trip is a nice way for me to de-program before I get home from work. I think I am going to come up with a plan to get out from underneath our second mort. so that we can look for a place next summer. Sounds proactive, doesn't it? :) lol
cr8zyforaf - YES I feel that pain down there!! It is so insane! That is exactly how it feels, like my baby is just going to come out at any moment.
Sabre - I know what you mean!! I was originally a part of that thread bc by first due date was 8/27. So its wild to see them all having babies now. It's definately right around the corner for us!! How exciting this thread will be then!! Of course, I will totally miss gabbin about pregnancy after all the babies are born! I suppose then we'll need to start up a post/pregnancy thread!! wildcat are you up for this after the last babies arrive??? I can't imagine not chatting with you guys anymore ;) lol
Well I better get back to work (or start working on my house plan.... :) )

PrincessCrappy - OMG - after reading your post at 11pm last night about McDonald's cheeseburgers and fries, I SO wanted some!! I asked DH if he'd go for me and he said absolutely (he's really on me about never eating meat...it just never sounds good), but I decided that wasn't the best idea. Maybe I'll have that for dinner tonight:).
groin pain - I get these shooting pains through my groin every few days that lasts for maybe 30 mins or so? Is that the same you are talking about cr8zyforaf? What is it? I imagined it was my pelvis spreading or something? Or the baby's head pushing down hard?
weight gain - Anyone want to share? I was really hoping to stay under 35pounds, but I guess that's not going to happen. At just about 33 weeks, I'm up 34 pounds. For second time moms, did your weight gain slow down towards the end? That's what I keep hoping for! ;)

Speaking of McD's...just wanted to let you know that I DID in fact go get it last night. DH wanted a Frosty from Wendys across the street anyway ;) lol See what posting about food gets you PrincessCrappy?? lol
weight gain - I am up 31 pounds right now at 35w3d. It is probably more than that as that was my weight two weeks ago. I will know more at my appt. tomorrow. I am trying desparately to stay at or below 35, but whatever happens, happens I guess. I am just super ready to get on a diet!! (this after posting about my late night McD's run ;) lol)

Nikki - Absolutely!! Although I've noticed that it seems the group threads stick around for a year or so just as they were, but talk about the babies instead of pregnancy, I think we could just continue our Sept05 mommies thread! Looks like if they get to fewer mommies, they combine them into threads like "summer05 mommies" or "fall05 mommies". I imagine we'll all have plenty of things to still write about:).

weight gain I believe I'm up to about 29 or 30 lbs so far. The first pregnancy I gained a pound a week for the entire pregnancy and then some extra water weight tacked on to the end. I believe the total was about 45lbs. I'm hoping to stay well below that this time.
groin pain I literally feel like he is just going to fall out. The pressure and pain is so severe. The NP suggested a belly belt, but I never did buy one.

Groin pain - sometimes I feel like my v*gina is going to crack in half That is EXACTLY how I feel. I just want to walk around holding it together. I don't feel the pressure, just the pain in my bones down there. It's only going to get worse from here, isn't it?!?

I'm honestly not sure about the weight gain. I've had ms from beginning to end, and now am vomiting about 4 times a week. I'm either up a little or down a little at each appt, but I started off losing about 15 or so lbs. Maybe next appt I'll calculate how much I am up (or down).

Mmmmm, McDonald's.....
Weight - I was up 31lbs as of last week. Last pregnancy, I gained 35 pounds overall, slow and steady like this time. Looks like I may be closer to 40 on this one...
pressure - definitely. I feel like he's going to fall out, and when he moves, it sends a sharp pain down there! Doc suggested a belly belt too, but I never got around to it. It's so hot I didn't want to add another thing of fabric wrapped around me!
Leg pain - It was back again this morning. Doc says there's nothing to be done, but comfort measures and to hope the baby moves off of it. Very reassuring to myself and my boss. I have no idea what to do. My job requires walking 1-3 miles a day, on uneven terrain and whatnot. I feel so guilty for having such a hard time doing my job. I just got this job too, so it doesn't look good. I applied for another one today though, indoor work, more pay, but variable hours.
groups - my last group is still together, April May June mommies 03, but it started out as a 3 month group, even during pregnancy. Now we all have 2 year olds!! It was really neat to see how everyone's kids progressed. You had a whole pool of children who were your DC's age and a whole pool of moms going through the same stages that you could consult with. Very fun and very helpful! I'd love to see us stick together!

I just found this thread again and wanted to say hello. I'm usually too busy during work to come on but I did lurk around in WC every so often.
I wanted to chime in on the weight gain. I'm at 33 weeks but have already gained 43 lbs! I started out a size 4 and this is the biggest I've ever been in my entire life. I do have to say I am extremely swollen. My feet have gone up over two sizes (from size 6 1/2 to 9) and my ankles, legs and hands are all swollen. I live in Southern California by the beach so it's really not too hot here. Can't figure out why I'm so swollen.
I would like to attribute some of my weight gain to water. My doctor said everything is fine and as long as I don't have other issues, he doesn't worry too much about the swelling. Anyone else out there with similar conditions?
Anyway, sorry to jump into the group so late but just wanted to say hi.

I'm with you Manatee! I was a size 2/4 and I've gained 47 pounds so far (I'm at 35.5 weeks).. Doctor said a lot is water, and not to worry unless I have other issues - high BP, etc. I guess some people just blow up!!
Just built our nursery :) We had temporary walls installed yesterday, and the painting happened today! I'll post pictures later.. it's small, but I'll take it!

dbers - I'm still tracking right there with you. I'm at 32 weeks and I'm up 41 lbs. I was a size 4/6 pre-pg. My only issue is I don't think most of it is water. My feet are a little swollen (today especially) but not generally. My a$$ is what has really grown. Hopefully the rumors are true and bf will take most of it away. Congrats on the nursery, must be exciting.....
Ok - I had the craving for McD's today (thanks to everyone for continuing to bring it up!), but the drivethru is way too far away from work and didn't want to go that far. I had to settle for Wendy's. Just not the same thing when you want those delicious golden fries from McD's.
The wallpaper guy was coming by today to put up the border in Aimee's room, but since I didn't cut in the color at the ceiling (I left it down about 3 inches), he says it will show thru the paper. So, I have to go home tonight and paint the top few inches in her room. Then he'll come back tomorrow to hang the paper - it never ends......

Wow, I feel so little...
I started out pretty small (5' 2" and 96lbs) and I'm only up about 15 lbs now. The doctor suggested that I gain about 30 lbs total, but I don't know if I'm going to gain another 15 in the next 6.5 weeks. But baby is healthy, and my mom always carried small so I think it's just in my genes to carry small.

oh NO! now even i want mcD's... jeez. a sure sign of weakness on my part. maybe i can talk hubby into going out for burger and fries later in the week.
doen't it all the sudden feel like somebody pushed fast forward on all of us?!?!? wow. i am so not feeling ready...
weight gain- i am up 32 pounds at 33 weeks. trying not to complain. seems ok, but i thought it would be nice to stay under 40 gained. july was a major growth spurt for me. i think it might be slowing down a bit though.
nursing bras- i have been thinking about these too. i ordered a bravado from sierrablue.com (free shipping and free pair of breast pads!) it is comfy and stretchy to grow with me, although i decided it's not supportive enough for me. (these girls are SAGGY! - and i got the + style) it will be good for around the house and for sleeping, but not really for under tops i'm trying to look "nice" in (if i ever do that is another story) so anyway, i am going to have to investigate what i can find here, either at wal-fart or sears.
aches and pains- oh yes. i am lucky to avoid the groin pain so far, and no heartburn, but my tailbone, rear of my pelvis and my hips ache so much most of the time. ice packs and heat packs and going to the chiro help, but i am still complaining a lot and gimping around!
i eat like a hobbit too, i need about 8 small meals! i have to eat everything as a separate course or i feel like i am going to burst. then i feel like i am eating ALL day and i don't really like that... and i feel like it is harder to monitor the amount i am eating. i do feel like i am really eating healthy foods lately though, but too many sweets (although they are homemade)
baby has been head down for a couple weeks at least and i'm hoping she stays that way. the right side of my belly is always ALL arms and legs, with the back on the left side.
hope you all have a great afternoon.

God I'm having a no good, very rotten, awful bad day! For starters, I have a cold from hell that seems to moving to my chest making it also a cough from hell. I am sick of being stuck indoors, so I decided to run some errands. First stop, bagel place. After eating my bagel and reading my book I realize I feel like I'm going to be sick. Sure enough, bagel induced vomitting. Next stop, Target. I figured since I'm out, I might as well finish my errands. As I'm getting out of the car, I spill my entire diet coke all over my white shorts. Ugh. But still, I must carry on. I make a couple of returns and grab what I need to buy. I decided to check if they had any nursing tanks in stock (they are always sold out) and sure enough, they do! My excitement must have started a coughing attack which resulted in, you guessed it, me peeing on myself! Needless to say, I ended this joyous afternoon with crying in the nursing bra section of Target. Since I'm determined to be a half glass full person, the good news of the day is that I am now the proud owner of two new nursing tanks! I'm home now and clean, so I'm going to go hide in bed for the rest of the day. I hope you all are having much better days than I am!

Princesscrappy - so sorry you are having such a horrible day. I think you have the right idea of hiding out for a while. Maybe DH should bring you home some really sinful dessert tonight to help make up for the bad day......
Carrie,, Oh, sorry for your yucky day!
Nursing bra--
I had something very similar --yesterday. I was at Target too, and LUCKILY found the last 2 nursing tanks. Hmm, hopefully they work as well as people say.
I am the most forgetful, stupid I have ever been in my life. It is unbelievable how dumb I'm getting.
1. IN the last week, I have lost 2 car keys (to 2 different cars). I have NEVER lost a single key in my life--I may have to hunt, but they are eventually found. One key was lost at the Target parking lot, the other key is god knows where.
2. I forgot to brush my teeth the entire weekend! I have never ever ever EVER forgotten to brush my teeth. (rarely I might skip the morning one--like once a year, if I'm in a super rush). But to purposely forget to brush--isn't that crazy?!
3. I forgot to schedule myself to work. That's why I had yesterday off to jet off to Target. I woke up early sunday morning with the *feeling* that I didn't schedule myself, so I called in, and sure off, no patients!
So I thought I would relax on Monday, but ended up running errands from 830 to 8pm. I was wiped out! And I still had no time to go to the bank. My errands areslower--I usually walk really fast, but I have to slow down b/c my stomach starts hurting/contractions.

I couldn't take all the McD's talk anymore - I broke down and grabbed lunch from there. Those yummy-but-so-bad-for-you fries and one of their new chicken club sandwhiches. Just thinking about it is making me hungry all over again :)
Weight gain - I am up 30 lbs based on the scale at my last appt but I don't really know where it all is... I was pretty tiny before - 5'0 and 90 lbs and a size 1 - but I think my perfect weight should be around 100 so that is my goal weight to get back too. One thing that I am getting really annoyed about is the comments people make. They ask me when I am due so I tell them and then they look at me like my belly is wayyy to small to be due so soon. Helloo people. I am only 5'0 tall - how much bigger do you think I should be? Just because I am not as big as you were...
Sorry end of vent ;)
I had a meltdown last night over our remodeling efforts - or lack thereof. I am also getting really tired and feel a lot of pressure to get so much done at work before I leave for three months. I brought work home tonight to hopefully get some things caught up..ugh....just thinking about it is giving me a headache.
Princess - Sorry you had such a bad day. Tomorrow WILL be better!

Hey Ladies~ I went to work today and am now home. DH and I are going to get some food soon. Since we are getting home so late. I kinda got smart with the Nurse at my school today who is a total smart mouth. She said something like "You haven't had THAT baby YET" so I replied with "What is it with you people who make comments as if someone is going to appreciate that" She replied with you didn't HAVE to get so offended and I replied you didn't have to say something so stupid. Hmm I think I need pregnancy induced anger management... but come to think of it I am like this all the time
Weight Gain ~ You all make me feel like a whale in your size 1 and 2's lol. Well I will just come out and tell you that I was a size 10-12 and have gained 9 pounds. Everyone says I am all belly and I agree because I can fit all of my old pants just not button them. Hopefully I will only gain 10 total because I was already overweight as it is at 5'6
I will try and do replies later but right now I am soooo hungry!
