Charting Our Course to the BFPs
http://www.ripleysorlando.com/images2/fertilitystatues.jpg
The fertility statues are known to work for some who rub them around the time of possible conception.
It is said that the baby is the most potent part of the statue.
So rub away! :D It's worth a shot!
Who we are:
This is a group of women using charting (temperatures, CM, CP, OPK/FM results, or a combination of these) to try to conceive and, along the way, are learning a heckuvalot about their own bodies! Many of us use a software program to keep track of our charts as well as allowing us to share them with each other. The most common ones are FertitlityFriend.com and Ovusoft.com.
Your threadmistress for this thread is Baby Lust!
If you have any questions, comments or suggestions, feel free to email me! (charting_is_knowledge@yahoo.com)
To our members:
This thread gets very busy at times, so in order to keep things less overwhelming and a bit more organized, we start a new thread each month as well as after 3 BFPs. A link to the new thread is always posted at the end of the current thread to help everyone find their way over. The threadmistress would really appreciate it if everyone would post their updates in Red. That way, if I get a bit behind, it is much quicker to get the thread up-to-date.
KNOWLEDGE IS POWER!
Want to join the fun??
We welcome one and all. It doesn’t matter if you have never charted before or if you’ve been charting to avoid. I am sure you will find lots of help and support in this group.
If you would like to join, CD1 is the time to do it! That way, we can cheer you on
throughout your cycle, rather than 2 days before you test!
Please don't be discouraged by the number of posts in this thread. You don’t have to read the whole thread to join. Feel free to just jump in on the last page. Just read through these first couple of posts and post a reply with the following information and we will get you added right away. Of course, none of this info is a must but we like to know a little bit about one another.

Things I Have Learned About TTC
by WC's Sherylb
* TTC is a journey. You will discover things about yourself that you never expected. You will face fears you never thought you had. You will find joy in little things.
* TTC can bring you closer to your DH, or it can pull you apart. If your marriage is not solid, you will find out quickly.
* No one understands exactly what you are feeling at any given moment, but someone can empathize at least a little bit.
* You will experience an emotional roller coaster ride. There will be highs and lows and fast moments and slow. Sometimes you have to wait in a very, very slow moving line. You may not even get the seat you want. It is not always fun, it can be scary, but in the end it is worth it.
* "Just relax" is the last thing in the world you want to hear from someone, but it is OK if you say it about yourself.
* There will be moments when you question your own decision to start TTC. You will wonder if you should wait or if you should just give up. Those are normal. But you will get past those feelings.
* The blue and green turtle likes to pop its head out! You will hear of someone's pregnancy and turn green with envy and blue inside because it isn't you.
* It isn't fair, it isn't easy, and it isn't pretty. But you keep doing it because the reward is worth it.
* You will be your best friend and your worst enemy. Your body will
surprise you and yet disappoint you.
* Some women do get lucky and conceive right away. Others aren't so lucky and have to struggle to get there. Hope you will be in the first category, but prepare yourself to be in the second.
* Once you decide to TTC, there will be babies and pregnant women everywhere! You could swear there is a baby boom going on!
* You will have questions. No one will ever be in exactly your position, so don't be surprised when no one can give you exactly the answer you are looking for. But there are people that can contribute, so don't be afraid to ask!
* Two lines on a pregnancy test is not the end of the struggle. Pregnancy has lots of struggles in and of itself.

- Common TTC abbreviations
This is a list of some of the more common TTC abbreviations. I know as a newcomer to the TTC threads, it can be hard to keep them all straight. I hope these will help, and if anyone has any they would like added, please let me know!
•2WW: "2 week wait" - The approximate time from possible conception to menstruation due date; Pregnancy tests should be taken near the end of the 2WW.
•AF: "Aunt Flo"; Your period; Menstruation
•AFNW: "Aunt Flo Not Wanted"; the day your period is expected to start, but you are hoping it doesn't!
•AO: anovulatory (cycle without ovulation)
•BBs: "boobs"; breasts
•BBL: "be back later"
•BBT: Basal Body Thermometer; This is used to measure your basal body temperature, when you wake up in the morning, after at least 3 hours of sleep, before you start to move around; Use a special BBT thermometer to take your temperature because they measure the small changes in temperature from day to day more accurately than the regular fever thermometers.
•BCP: Birth control pills
•BDing: "baby dancing"; baby-making intercourse
•BFN: "Big Fat Neutral" or “Big Fat Negative”; Negative pregnancy test.
•BF: breast-feeding
•BRB: "be right back"
•CD: cycle day; a particular day in your menstrual cycle (example: CD1 is the first day of your period)
•CL: Cover Line; a visual tool used to separate the low (pre-ovulatory) temps from high (post-ovulatory) temps; a coverline is typically based on the temperatures 6 days prior to ovulation.
•CM: cervical mucous; one of the most useful clues your body can give you in predicting your fertility; it can range from dry, creamy, sticky, or (the most fertile) egg white/watery type.
•CF: cervical fluid; same as cervical mucus
•CP : cervical position; an optional, but sometimes really useful, fertility sign; CP will generally be low, firm and closed before and after ovulation, and high, soft and open during your fertile time.
•DD : "dear daughter"
•DH : "dear husband"
•DS : "dear son"
•DPO : Days Past Ovulation; number of days from your post-ovulatory temperature rise. (Example: 1DPO is the day after your ovulation)
•Endo : endometriosis (can be a fertility problem)
•EDC and EDD : estimated date of confinement (antiquated, but still used by physicians) and estimated date of delivery
•EPT : a brand of pregnancy test, or, generic for "early pregnancy test "
•EW or EWCM : egg white cervical mucus; the most fertile quality CM; it is slippery, clear and stretchy, like egg whites; also EWCF
•FAM : Fertility Awareness Method; the method of fertility and/or birth control that correlates the physical changes you experience during your cycle to predict when you are most fertile
•FF : Fertility Friend, an online (free, for basic services) fertility charting site (website); (could also be formula feeding; check context)
•FM : fertility monitor
•FMU : first morning urine
•FP : follicular phase; the phase before ovulation, where the egg matures in the ovaries
•FRED : First Response Early Detection (pregnancy test)
•HCG : human chorionic gonadotropin; the hormone that is present during pregnancy and what the HPT's and blood test measure to determine if you are pregnant
•HTH : "hope that helps"
•HPT : home pregnancy test; a urine pregnancy test you can do at home
•IMHO : "in my humble opinion"
•IMO : "in my opinion"
•IUI : intra-uterine insemination
•IVF : in vitro fertilization
•KU : knocked up
•LH : leutenizing hormone; the LH surge is what is measured by the OPKs; this hormone signals the egg to burst from the ovary
•LP : luteal phase; the phase of your cycle that begins just after ovulation and continues for 10-18 days, ending with the start of your next period; during the LP, your body continues to build up the lining of your uterus, and produce hormones which would support a pregnancy; this is the time when a fertilized egg can implant into the uterine lining
•NFP : Natural Family Planning; similar to FAM, but with abstinence during the fertile period
•O, Oing, Oed : ovulation, ovulating, or ovulated
•OPK : ovulation predictor kit; tests for presence of LH surge that usually precedes ovulation by 12-48 hours; these tests are quite expensive and not always accurate (if you take medication or depending on your age); these are optional when charting with FF, but if your fertility data is not clear it can bring more light and help interpret difficult cases
•OS : Ovusoft; charting software based on TCOYF
•PCOS : polycystic ovarian syndrome (a fertility problem)
•PG : pregnant
•PIAC : pee in a cup
•POAS : pee on a stick
•RE : reproductive endocrinologist
•SA : semen analysis
•SH : "sweet husband"
•SO : "significant other"
•SYS , SYL : See ya soon! or See ya later!
•TCOYF : Taking Charge Of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler; a book and website about charting and fertility.
•TMI : "too much information" - There is no such thing when TTC!
•TTA : "trying to avoid"
•TTC : "trying to conceive"
•TTFN : "ta-ta for now"
•TTYL , TTYS : "talk to you later" or "talk to you soon"

Babylove, I am confused as to why you said OS gave you CHs. Do you mean the cross on your chart? That is simply telling you that you have entered your fertile period. Your CL will fluctuate as you enter more temps. Is that what you meant?
babylove

Baby Lust ~ Yup...gotcha...6 cycles and I still don't *get it*!! My temp went back down today a bit (from 97.74 to 97.69)...thank god!

Just checking in.
I am hoping there are plenty of firecrackers this month!!!!
And I am hoping that I will get to be one of them :) If would be the best birthday present ever. I still haven't gotten AF yet, but I am guessing she is on the way today since I am having some bad camps and the bbs stopped hurting. I didn't temp today cuz I just didn't want to see that loooow temp. And I slept so well not thinking about temping. I think I might do what some of the other ladies do, as soon as I am positive I Oed then I will stop temping and actually get a good nights sleep.
QOTD: Do you have a VIP subsciption to FF. If you do is it worth the money?

Thank you for the new thread! Let's hope that July is the month for all of us! I am hoping it is for me!
COME ON BFP'S!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)
Also to answer the QOTD I have a VIP subscription to FF and I have found that it is worth it, I have had mine since November.
Baby Lust

QOTD: I don't have a FF VIP but I did purchase an Ovusoft subscription. OS is based on TCOYF and 9 times out of 10 is more accurate than FF. It might be worth it though! You should try OS as a 15 day free trial. That's what made me decide to buy! ;)

Congrats to Elenitsa!
As for me, I am currently on CD 16, with no sign of O'ing, no temp drop, nada, though if this month follows last month (FF says I O'ed at CD 17), I might see it tommorrow. I had one weird temp drop at CD 7, but since it was way to early for me to be O'ing this month I chalked it up to an aberration and nothing more!
We're off for the weekend so Happy 4th Everyone!

Ok... first, thanks babylust for the beeeutiful new thread.
Second, I think (I don't want to get my hopes up, as it's just one temp) that I might have O'd.... I'm on CD58....Crossing my fingers that I did. If I did, the Dr. would be able to run a prog. test on me to double check that if I have next week (I go in on Tue)
Anyhow, after two weeks of my temp hovering around 97.0 a jump like this is pretty exciting.... I have to wait until tomorrow & Sun what that says, but am trying to stay hopefuly in a really long A$$ cycle for me.
Hope everyone enjoys the long holiday weekend.

QOTD: I just got a VIP this month. Silly me didn't think I'd be TTC long enough to need it . I also have ovusoft, but I bought that back in 2002 when I was TTA.
My temp dipped down just a bit today. Of course I tested, BFN. I have learned my lesson about keeping tests around in hopes that a BFP magically appears. I threw the test away within 10 minutes. I consider that progress for me :D. My goal next month is to be able to wait until at last 12 dpo to start testing (Yeah, right).
Congrats to Elenista!

Dallas~
I am sorry about your BFN. And I also understand the difficulty in making yourself wait to test. Last month I tested on 9dpo (which also happened to be Father's Day) and when I got the BFN I kept telling myself that I had tested too early for it to be detected. I had planned to keep testing about every other day after that, but AF came. This time I vow to only start testing after 12 dpo. We'll see how I hold out. You know, when my friends were TTC, I would always say to them, "Hey, there's always next month." Now that I am TTC, I am realizing how long a month can really be and I find myself thinking "Now I have to wait another whole month!"
Edited to add:Congrats Elenitsa!!

Good morning ladies! Thanks Amanda for the new thread! Looks great!
And we already have a BFP!?! Congrats to Elensita! Happy and Healthy 9 months to you!!!
My temp went up a little today but it's still below where my pre-O temps usually are. I think I'm O'ing today. We've bd'ed the past two nights but may try to sneak one more in tonight before my EWCM dries up. ;)
I'm sorry Jody about your cramps starting. I totally understand about not wanting to see your low temp this morning. I'm going to stop temping post O, once I confirm it with tomorrow's temp. I've started waking up at like 5:30am anticipating the need to temp...then I can't get back to sleep. I'm hoping eliminating the post O temp will help with that.
Sorry for the temp dip Dallas. :(

QOTD: Do you have a VIP subsciption to FF. If you do is it worth the money?
I have a VIP Gold life-time membership. I purchased it right after the free trial ended, and I think it's been totally worth it.
Now I have a question. My friend's TTC & charting and is in the middle of her strangest, now longest cycle ever. Unfortunately she missed a few temps and we can't figure out when she O'd. Can y'all take a quick look at her chart & tell me what you think? Friend's Chart (http://www2.fertilityfriend.com/home/866a1)

It's official...Threadmistress, would you kindly move me to Think I O-ed - Testing 7/3 - 7/9?
Had my highest post-O temp ever (so far, anyhow) this morning - 97.7!
I've decided if this cycle doesn't pan out, I'm going to TTA for the next three months. I"ve managed to gain back all 15 of the pounds I lost for my wedding and would really like a shot at taking off some weight before pregnancy. Also, I'm starting a new job on July 18, and would like to establish my competence before I start falling asleep at my desk or (horrors) spontaneously booting in my waste basket.

I have the exact same problem. During the 2ww I end up waking up too early because I am obsessing over what my temperarture will be. Is it still high? Implantation dip? Triphasic?
I didn't temp past O in May... it REALLY helped put TTC out of my mind. I think that I am going to do that from now on. TTC is making me think that I am OCD or something :D

QOTD - I have VIP membership but can't really say if I think it is worth it yet as this is my first ovulatory cycle. During my annovulatory cycles I didn't think it gaves any additional useful info.
I am going to try and hold out until Monday, July 4th. I'll be 12DPO. If my temps still look good, I will test.

Congratulations Elenitsa! Happy and Healthy nine months to you!
Jody- sorry the witch found you.
UTChick--in complete agreement about how a month now seems like an eternity!
Still in the early, boring parts of the cycle.
QOTD- I use Ovusoft and just the free FF. I like each one differently each month. I really liked Ovusoft but then I had one month where I ovulated late and it's been kind of screwy ever since. I'm not exactly sure what happened or how to fix it.
In exciting news, we got a new puppy last night. He's a yellow lab (like our other dog) and his name is Roman. He's sleeping peacefully now and I should probably be taking advantage of that and clean the house!
Happy Fourth to everyone!

Ok...this is part vent/part new QOTD.
Have you felt like your new purpose in life/role in your marriage has become a procreation machine?
Let me explain my thoughts. It seems like since I have started charting and really paying attention to my cycles, DH approaches sex primarily (or solely it seems) as baby-making. Period. Maybe I am just being moody, but the question "Are we in the window yet?" seems to be the deciding factor (for DH) on whether or not we have sex. Like we can't just do it for fun anymore?!? I know DH is so, so eager to have a baby and I cannot express how lucky I am to have a husband this excited and on-board about becoming a father. I guess I feel like I am no longer the 'sexy wife' but more the 'baby maker.' Does anyone else ever feel like this? I brought it up last night, and of course, he reassured me that he still finds me sexy, etc. and that he is just eager for us to get pregnant. I know that getting pg, especially for someone with irregular cycles like I have been known to have, takes some planning and evaluation. It just seems like romance is slowing fading into the background. KWIM? Please tell me I am not alone in these feelings.
DallasLady
07-02-2005, 02:03 PM
I am right there with you UT Chick. Just take a look at my chart, we don't have sex outside of ovulation hardly at all anymore. The worst part about feeling like a reproduction machine is feeling like a broken reproduction machine.
Elenista Spotting in early pg is normal. Once you have seen that BFP, implantation has already occured.
UTChick
07-02-2005, 02:20 PM
Dallas~ EXACTLY!!!
Ok...I have some questions about O kits. Two cycles ago, I had a 38 day cycle and last cycle was 33 days. I think the 38 day cycle was a fluke because prior cycles (although I wasn't charting) seemed to be more like 30-34 days and because I was under a tremendous amount of stress at that time. So...if I am assuming another 33 day cycle, I need to test for O at CD 17, right? And I believe I read (maybe even in this thread) that O occurs up to 24hrs after LH surge, so we need to BD within 24 hrs of positive O test? I know this has been covered before but I am so new to this and need it dummied down. Gator, Congrats on the puppy! He sounds adorable!
Elenitsa, Brown spotting is completely normal! Your body is just getting rid of the old blood. Don't worry about it, unless it turns red.
dlj, I ordered the Mayo book a while back and love it! I would highly suggest everyone get one!
UT, Unfortunately, that tends to happen once TTC begins, no matter how hard you try not to let it. It is very sad. The only advice I can give you is make a point to DTD from AF to AF... not constantly, by any means, unless you want to ;) but make a point to have sex without thinking about BDing. HTH! {{HUGS}}
So I was chart-stalking and there are some beautiful charts out there! How awesome would that be if we could close down this thread by Tuesday!? :D
My temps have been all over the place lately, which is strange because they were so stable in the beginning! I think I am O'ing today, since I have always O'd on CD20 since I started Clomid.
Enjoy the long weekend everyone! Wear sunscreen and don't drink and drive!

I think I might actually be O'ing today! I had a little cramping on the left side and EWCM. This is CD21 of my first cylce of BCP and I was not sure what to expect. I am actually kind of excited! Now all I have to do is seduce my DH. :D
My temps are always really high compared to other charts, even though I typically run a low temperature and am always cold. Does anyone else have this issue? Is it from discontinuing BCP?

Morning ladies! Just popping in for a quick update and to chart-stalk!
I'm pretty sure I O'd yesterday, but for some reason, if I add a couple more high temps, FF does not give me CHs. It's weird. So we'll see what happens.

I believe I O'ed yesterday (cd15). Although FF had me as O'ing on cd13 so I went in an manually changed it.
Threadmistress, would you please move me to Think I O'ed - Testing 7/10 - 7/16. BTW, thanks for compiling all of the links on the first page...those are great!
UTChick, unfortunately I don't feel all that qualfied to answer your question about OPKs since I just used them for the first time. But I do think that once you first get a positive, O usually happens within 48 hours. however sometimes it can happen within 24 hours. So to answer your question, you should definitely bd when you first get a +OPK and then again maybe 24-36 hours later. HTH!
Ilovemygeek have fun making fireworks of your own this 4th of the july weekend! ;)

Happy Fourth of July everyone!
I'm obsessing over my temps and my chart today. I should get AF tomorrow if I'm not pregnant and I got all excited because my temps didn't go down at all (and usually they start going down the day before AF). But then I remembered that I didn't have a real clear sudden temperature jump when I O'ed. FF said I O'ed on Thursday the 23rd, but it's possible I didn't O until Friday the 24th, which would make AF day Wednesday instead. I really need to stop obsessing. Someone mentioned that they don't take their temps after O'ing, which sounds like a good idea, but I do like the advance notice of a temp drop before AF. It kind of eases me into the realization that I'm not pregnant.

I get O pains... sometimes they feel like AF cramps, but most of the time they feel like someone's poking me in the lower abdomen really hard, in the side that I'm O'ing from. It's different for everyone though, and so far it seems like my O pains are worse when I O on my left. I O'd on my right last month and barely could tell.

Tracie, you chart looks great! I agree with FF on your O date. Keeping my fingers crossed that those temps stay high!
On a TMI note, I have had a TON of creamy CM the past few days. I have never noticed that before, especially at the end of the 2ww. Does anyone know what the reason could be?
As for my temps, they are on the way down, and I am feeling crampy and bitchy. I wish AF would just get here already so I can go crawl into my depressed "I'm still not pregnant" hole.

Hi everyone! I hope you are all enjoying the holiday weekend!
My temp went back down today, but I am 99.9% sure I O'd yesterday, so I'm assuming my temp will jump back up tomorrow for the 2nd eggie. I'll have to try to squeeze a BD out of DH today... That could be a chore! I think we are both burned out from "having to" BD, rather than it being a voluntary thing. :(
Tracie, I hope your temps stay up!
Dallas, Creamy CM post-O is quite common. It used to be a PS but it has become more common, so I don't know if it is an indicator of anything.
Hope everyone has a wonderful night! Please be safe! :)

Just checking into the new thread! I've been away for the weekend visiting DH's family in Louisiana and Mississippi. I didn't even bring my BBT with me since I knew I'd be sleeping in weird places, not necessarily with the best of privacy. On a TMI note, I have had a TON of creamy CM the past few days. I have never noticed that before, especially at the end of the 2ww. Does anyone know what the reason could be? Just to pop in to answer DallasLady's question. Having lots of creamy *only* means high progesterone. I had a ton of it when I was on clomid (which raises progesterone among other things). Now...what seems really interesting is that you would have it at 13 and 14DPO. Why would someone have high progesterone at 13 and 14DPO...hmmmmmm? ;) I think you could test tomorrow and get an accurate result (whatever that result shall be).
ETA: Girl...you are getting a lot more action then me...and that includes non-baby making action.

Lots of BD'ing this weekend...though I'm not sure what the heck is going on w/ my chart. Can someone please check it out. I have both an FF chart (http://www2.fertilityfriend.com/home/7b375) and OS chart (in my sig). OS says I O'd yesterday (the only day we DIDN'T BD...grrr..) but I don't know if I trust it b/c my temp wasn't very high this morning. I think the OS coverline is too high b/c of a higher than normal temp oin Sunday. I discarded that temp in my FF chart......don't know what to do b/c I am supposed to start using the progesterone supps on 2DPO (tomorrow) but if I didn't really O yet, or I O'd today instead, using the supps too soon would be bad. Hi all, I've been trying to lay low this cycle, so I haven't been checking in as much. I guess I will move myself into the correct category though...
Babylust, can you move me to O'd and testing 7/10-7/16.
I am 6DPO today. Had some strange spotting yesterday and today. I never get that...my first thought was to get all excited and think implantation spotting, but when I came to my senses and did a little research on FF, I realized that there were NO charts with implantation spotting before 8DPO.
The wacky thing is that exactly a year ago (literally to the day), I had a 22-day cycle that ended about this time. I had never had that short of a cycle before in my life. I spotted very intermittently and then AF arrived a day or two later. I just chalked it up to the fact I had been traveling a lot that month and it was my first month charting so my body was all out of sorts. I'm hoping that is not the case as that would be entirely too strange if my body did the exact same thing a year later especially while I was on Clomid.
Sorry to all those that had AF arrive and good luck to all the upcoming testers.

Well FF has changed from dotted to solid crosshairs and raised my coverline so it looks like I definitely O'ed this month. Unfortunately it also pushed my O date up two days to CD 18, when we were at my in-laws beach house (with zero privacy) for the long weekend. So unless DH has some determined swimmers, this month will probably be out as well :( .
I kind of have mixed feelings about this. On the one hand, I am kind of disappointed, but on the other hand, since DH was laid off unexpectedly by his a-hole boss 2 weeks ago, it's sort of a relief as well. Stupid to feel that way, right? Anyway, if AF doesn't show when expected, I'll still be testing anyway, but may be pushing the test date up.

Hi everybody! I haven't been on since Monday, I was hoping I'd come back to at least one BFP. :( Maybe we'll get some soon. Maybe I'll be one of them!
My temps are still really high. In fact, they're higher than they've ever been. It's 13DPO and I tend to get AF at 12DPO. I'm really dying to take a test but DH isn't here, and he wants to be here for it. I will probably be testing tomorrow morning, if not tonight. I'm trying not to get my hopes up too much. It seems like every month there's something that gets my hopes up just to have them crushed by crappy old AF.

I think your chart looks fine... your temp did go down just a hair, but you're still going to be above your coverline when it shows up. FF looks for 3 temps above your coverline. Plus, even though it's hard, you want to look at the big picture rather than each individual temp. You look good so far! :)
My charting has been very sporadic this month because we've been travelling so much. I'm pretty sure I O'ed yesterday though. I'm going to temp until next Monday, then I'll be out of town for a whole week visiting family. No temping there, but I'll be in the 2WW anyways and won't be home until about 12 or 13 DPO. Dallas I'm so sorry the witch found you.
LittleStar looking at your chart you very well may have Oed, but I don't see a strong correlation with CM. A slight drop does not mean that you haven't becuase your temps seem to be on average higher than those of the first 10 cycle days. But have patience you need to give your body the chance to do its thing as you come off BC and give yourself some time to learn what that pattern.
BabyLust good luck as you SWH!!

I've been dying for this place to come back online! I can't talk about this with anyone else. DH came home (for a week!) unexpectedly on Sat. Just in time for me to be fertile. We agreed we should still wait until he's done with training to TTC, but the condom broke on CD15.
To make things more stressful, I've had the craziest temps this cycle, & none of them make sense. I've learned that, for me, the biggest difference in my temps comes from whether or not I had 3 hours of solid sleep first. So when I don't sleep well (half the time), my temps are higher. Luckily my CM follows an obvious pattern, so I know I O'd CD16 or 17.
So, I'm in my first official 2ww!
I'm sorry, Dallas. That sucks
Tracie, Good Luck!!!!!

I did a little rehauling of my last and current charts yesterday. I realized that b/c I had coded this month's Day 1 as the first date I actually saw AF, even though it was at bedtime, I was effectively cheating my last cycle out of a LP date. So I went ahead and corrected that, which means this cycle started a day later, and I ovulated on Day 19, not Day 20. So, I'm now on cycle day 28, and 9 dpo.
Broke down and tested this morning (not b/c I expected to see anything; mainly poas withdrawal) - BFN, natch. Still, I'll probably keep testing every morning until AF shows up, which I am expecting any moment now. I've been cramping like a mf-er for the last two days and my poor bbs are terribly tender. I'd be happy if I made it until tonight, and even happier if I made it until tomorrow night without AF showing up - I'd like to hope that all the B6 I've been taking is working it's magic on my short LP. Still, if AF shows up, I won't be terribly disappointed - at least I'll get to take Advil for the cramps and have some booze (I've been abstaining from the wine since a few days before ovulation - a big thing for a wino like me!)

Ok, master chart readers, help a girl out.
Do my temps look strange? I had a neg. OPK late afternoon yesterday and will do another today at about the same time to see if there is a surge. Last cycle, I thought my temps showed when I O'd but I had a shorter cycle, so I actually O'd several days prior to when I thought. This cycle I don't know what to think. UTChick IMHO I can't advise you about what may be going on either. It's really difficult without any indication of CM to go by. Maybe the most recent temp was a fluke. See what happens tomorrow. Remember the O day is variable each month, but the LP tends to be pretty constant. Based on your last cycle chart your CL that month seems to be about 97.4 and your temps don't really seem to go above that -- yet!

UT, Sleep does have an effect on temps, but your temps may also be dipping right before O. Are you taking OPKs twice a day, or just once? You may have missed your surge. Have you been getting semi-dark lines, and just no + or are they still very negative?
MMH, I do have you on the roster, but I didn't have a link to your chart so I didn't know what category to put you in. Go to your chart on FF, click on "sharing", then "home page setup". Your chart link will be right at the top. HTH! :) ETA: The link you posted was the general link to update your chart. It just takes me to my chart. ;) Never mind! You got it!

Thanks for your thoughts, ladies.

I am going to do the OPK again today...maybe in an hour. I want to wait the couple of hours after drinking a big bottle of water. I have only done the one OPK (late yesterday afternoon) and it was def. neg. Not even a faint line. The thing is, I don't think I missed my surge because if I did, then I will have an even shorter cycle this time. The OPK optimizer on FF said to start testing yesterday based on a 33 day cycle (my shortest so far) and my window goes until next week sometime based on a 38 day cycle (my longest so far). Oh well, we'll see what today's OPK says. BTW, should I be doing twice a day?

UT, Then I don't think you missed your surge either. I would attribute the wacky temp to lack of sleep. :) You don't have to test 2x a day, but you have a better chance of seeing your surge if you do, and since you can O 36 hours after a +, you would want the most accurate time of your surge. Personal preference. I typically test once a day until I get a pretty good line, then I test twice a day until I get a positive or two. Good luck!

First of all, sorry to those found by AF :( ...and a hearty GOOD LUCK to those who are waiting to test. I did some chart stalking today and things look very promising 'round here!
***
It's official. I'm sick. I have some kind of strange summer cold--no runny nose or sneezing, just body aches, sore throat, clogged ears and I have completely lost my voice. Juuuuuust great. Thank god I don't have any hearings or trials this week! But I am concerned that my super high temp this morning (which I *of course* attributed to pgcy  ) is a function of a fever. For some reason, I have a feeling that this cycle was the one for us....topped off by the fact that my dear friend, who is also TTC, told me that she read "somewhere" that women sometimes get colds when pg b/c our bodies are working hard to implant, etc and our immune system is therefore suppressed....valid or not, I believe it!! :D

Sorry to those visited by the 'witch' and all crossables crossed for those waiting to test. I have been chart stalking too and some look very promising!!
As for me, any advice is welcome. I think I O'd this past weekend, but only had one high temp. Today was disturbed and it isn't going to get back to normal because I have to wake up an hour and a half earlier for the next month. . . I didn't plan for the change. My CM I thought had dried up, but I am not so sure really. I feel like it is watery a lot - no real EWCM, but watery and lots of it. Any ideas? Maybe I'm still waiting to O? Just trying to talk DH into continuing to BD - he thought this is going to be great, but now I think he is having second thoughts . . . 'again, already' ;)
Hoping for some exciting news from someone soon!! March thread needs more mamas :)

Would you share your experiences?
After my initial visit talking to the doc about my crazy long cycles, etc, I brought up the possibility of PCOS. I don't have facial hair, per se, which is always brought up when I read about it, but I do have adult acne and have always had skin issues, quite badly at times (cystic). I also have skin tags, and the very irregular periods. My doctor didn't seem particularly to be leaning towards PCOS, but we did bloodwork (don't know the results yet) and I went for an ultrasound today.
Well, that was an experience...first, my doc didn't tell me that there was an internal component. That was s surprise. We were able to see several follicles, which at the time I thought was a good thing (I was not with the doc, BTW, just the U/S tech). I am thinking follicles=ovulation. However, her reaction led me to believe otherwise...she obviously didn't say I had or didn't have anything, but she tld me that"Well, there are plenty of ways to treat it if you do find out you have PCOS, and plenty of women get pregnant, so I hope I see you back here for something more exciting soon!"
So, I chewed on that all day, came home, and googled ovarian ultrasound images. And...My ovaries sure look like all the ones with PCOS.
BUT...I can't find a picture of a healthy ovary anywhere.
I know several of you on here have PCOS or some symptoms...can you share your experiences at all? Did you have an ultrasound? How about anyone with a healthy ultrasound?
On mine, I could clearly see several dark blobs on each ovary...about 12 all together is what the tech said, I think.
Help?

silentbunny, unfortunately I don't have any info for you to answer your questions. But my best friend is an ultrasound tech and I'd be happy to ask her any questions for you. That's very sweet of you! Please don't go out of your way, but if you should happen to be lunching with her and, I don't know, the subject of "dark blobs on ovaries" comes up, I guess I am curious. ;) I suppose I will talk to my doc soon, though.
And I certainly don't want to be a drama queen if I DO have PCOS, I am certainly not the first person in here with it. I am just curious -- and impatient.

Delurking to answer PCOS question.
silentbunny - Typically (though not all PCOSers share this trait) a PCOS ovary will have a string of pearls on their ovaries. I don't know how long you've been trying, but looking at your chart history, if last cycle is typical for you then you shouldn't have had follicles forming this early. Which leads me to believe that those blobs you were seeing were actually cysts. The good news is that you did ovulate last cycle, so even if you are officially diagnosed with PCOS you have something to work with.

Ok...I need some good vibes sent my way so that I will hold off on O-ing until Saturday. I did another OPK this morning and while it is still neg, that line is a little darker than yesterday afternoon's. DH left to go out of town this morning and won't be back until Sat. afternoon. :( We did BD last night since he had to get up this morning at 3:45 to get to the airport on time. (I knew there was no action to be had at that hour. ;) ) But I have a feeling that this afternoon I will get a +OPK and we will miss the opportunity. UGH!! What do you all think? First and foremost Congrats to Tracie!!!
Silentbunny, this is the LONG response I got from my friend who is an ultrasound tech:
Most untrained people look at ultrasounds
and get more worried because they see things that look
funny, when in fact they are completely normal.
Several dark blobs can be both an indication of a
normal ovary or a PCOS ovary. There are many other
subtle factors that figure into a sonographic
diagnosis of PCOS, such as the location of the "blobs"
in relation to the ovarian parenchyma and the
presence, or lack thereof, of a dominant follicle.
Honestly, from my experience, unless she has had
periods of amenorrhea since she started her periods,
is overweight, and has slightly masculine features,
including a lot of hair, she probably doesn't have
PCOS. PCOS is primarily a clinical diagnosis that
doesn't require US diagnosis, unless it is just to
document confirmation.
Tell this girl that she is crazy to be worrying
herself to death over this and she should just be
patient until she hears from her doctor. I feel bad
for her because I know that is is very frustrating to
have infertility issues, but worrying about this will
only make things worse. As far as what the tech said
to her, I would take that to mean she will see her
back for something more exciting, like when she is
pregnant and they are looking at the baby. No good
tech would tell a patient they have PCOS, but I am
frequently talking to patients while doing EVs and if
one asked me questions about PCOS and fertility (which
this girl probably did) I would probably say something
similar to that.
Now that said, I don't believe you are "crazy" for worrying about this (as she stated)...I'm sure I'd be right there with you in this situation. My friend doensn't have any children and is no where remotely close to starting. I sometimes think she is a little insensitive when it comes to answering my questions just because she doesn't know the emotional investment we TTCers have in this whole journey. I know her response still doesn't give you the info you need at this point but I hope it at least sheds some light.

Based on my CM I O'd Sun or Mon, but my temps have been all over the board. Flygirl, What's up with all the open circles? I think it is possible that you did O, but with all the uncertainties (read: open circles), it is hard to tell.
I have no idea. I always get mostly open circles and I haven't been able to figure out why. Nor do I understand why I get closed circles when I do. I can temp at the normal time and not put anything in the "stats" section, and it'll still turn out open.
My real problem is that I have problems sleeping, and almost always end up dozing for the last few hours in the morning, which means I rarely get an undisturbed temp. When I do they're much lower. It also means I don't always temp at the same time, but this has ALWAYS been the case, and I've still had clear enough charts.
Good luck tonight!
Baby Lust
07-07-2005, 09:31 PM
Fly, The open circles mean you temped at a different time than your default time, or you indicated you had a fever or something like that. Do you normally wake up before your 3 hours of dozing? Have you thought about making that your temping time? It is probably pretty early, and that might not be feasible, but just a thought. :)

See I have this friend, who, coincidentally enough, took two tests on DPO 11 and saw two very faint lines times two.
