I have been looking around at cribs and 95% of what I see are sleigh cribs which are a little bit too much crib for me. Does anyone know of anything more simple and traditional?

Thanks

We have two Jenny Lind cribs, which are also known as spindle cribs. Pottery Barn Kids has a couple in the latest catalog, but a lot of crib manufacturers make them (actually, most everyone does), so you definitely don't have to pay PBK prices.

See how the rails are kinda twisty? That's the spindle part. They're nice and traditional, I think, but I am biased on the subject. ;)

We have a similar crib too. Our is darker wood.

Here it is - don't mind my little jailbird!

Here's mine, a Simmon's crib. Not sure of the model name:

Thanks guys! I do love the Jenny Lind but not the PBK price. I have seen one online by DiVinci and a store in town can order one from Million Dollar babies. I didn't really like the Delta from BRU. It would be nice to see it before I buy it. Where did you get you Jenny Linds and what brand are they? I will continue to look around.

They sell the Jenny Lind crib at Babies R Us for around $110. I've had my heart set on the Jenny Lind crib forever, because that's the style of crib I had as a baby. :)

i have the jenny lind also, all the ones i found were made by million dollar baby. i found high-end stores trying to sell that crib for $700., i think you can get it for like $200. i had mine custom painted, i don't remember how much i paid for just the crib. the pb kids price isn't bad, i think it's on sale right now, too.

We bought our Jenny Lind cribs online, at www.babyage.com, for something like $120 with $5 shipping.

mimieliza- That's what I had when I was a baby too!

Thanks ladies, I am going to chck out these sites. At PBK I think the pink and blue ones are on sale for $199 but the white one is still $399 which would be over $500 after tax and shipping. Around $200 is much more in my budget.

I ordered this crib.

I like it because its simple and its made out of solid maple. No veneers or particle board to deal with. I also love that it has a natural oil & wax finish instead of the thick polyurethane you see on most cribs today.

Kristen- Ohhh, I like that!

I am so glad to see this thread. I had a spindle crib as a baby and my mom wants me to take it but I was afraid it was outdated. It is dark wood. This made me feel better and possibly, reconsider taking it! Thanks! :D

Kristen78 - I love your crib! I want to save the photo/information to show my DH. Do you mind sharing where you got your crib from? Thanks! :)

It may not be outdated in terms of style, but safety standards have changed - be careful! :)

You said traditional, but I can't help myself, I love these round cribs (this one from Posh Tots (http://www.poshtots.com)):

This corner one from http://www.ababy.com has a traditional feel, but is still really unique!
