My lil bro uses it and I saw some people using it in the library my last year of college.
I thought it was something geared towards teens and young adults. The only "spaces" I have seen are guys trying to get girls and girls showing how hot and unavailable they are. (Typical college dating rituals).

I guess it would make a good place to show off the family. I know you can keep it private so that people need to be invited into your space.

I've got an account on TheFacebook...it's like MySpace but only for people in college who who are alums. You have to use your college e-mail address to register and your school has to be part of it. It's actually really funny because you are able to look up the school you went to as well as your high school. I've found a TON of people I went to high school with that I haven't talked to in years. I've got a MySpace account but I vary rarely ever use it.

I signed up on it just the other day bc I got a plaintive email from a friend who wanted friends over there. Shortly after I joined I started getting messages from randon men wanting to friend me. I couldn't figure out what was going on, and just kept denying them. But then I noticed that, bc I did not fill out my profile, it listed me as single.

I have to say... I quickly learned that myspace is a meat market.

I've been on myspace since March, I think. I picked up a couple decent guys there, dated both of them. Other than that, though, it appears to be a pick up joint, like, a booty call one nighter type pick up joint. Which is fine if that's what you're in to, but it's not me. I'm on there and have been for several months. There's definitely the meaty component going on BIG TIME. But there's also a big music thang over there that's pretty happening. I like it because I can promote my band and put up songs to gain new "fans". The other day while in South America she told my brother to look her up. She wasn't on there, but her sister was! All these years later my sister found her long lost friend. She was elated. :)

I use to loathe myspace. I did not understand why people would want to spend there time on a site that young kids use. But then my friends got me into it. I too have found a huge huge amount of former classmates from college, high school even jr. high and elementary school. I love it now! It is like using classmates.com but better because you don't have to pay and you actually get to see what that person has going on, view pictures and see who they have linked on there page which is awesome because you usually run into people you have not seen in years!!! I love myspace now :)

Look for anyone who has a done up page, and somewhere it should say, edited with myspace editor vx.x or whatever, and it should be a link you can click to pick out stuff for your own page. Mine should still be that way.

I've mainly been "friended" by friends of people I know IRL or message board (mostly IRL friends). If they are a friend of a real person (ie someone I know) I will friend them. If they are from CC, I will friend them.

If they randomly found that I was a fan of a band, probably not. I do message people that friend me and I don't know.

As for finding friends from hs, I went to a very small hs, so searching for the name of my school and graduating year (or years around my graduation) had done the trick.

For college, I've had good luck combining major with year of graduation and such.

As for finding people from hs/college, you can look up your school (if you went to a large/well-known school) on myspace. And you can find everyone that is either graduated from or is still going to it (provided that they listed it as one of their schools). Or if you know the person's name that you are looking for, you can search for them by name. The only problem with that is you could potentially get hundreds of people with the same name (if their name is a common one), and it might take a while to look through everyone. But I have had to do that myself a couple of times. HTH! :)

For finding old friends I also use classmates finder. You can also just type in people’s names under search if you’re looking for a specific person.

It is pretty interesting to see where people from HS and college have ended up. I think the number of my high-school classmates that still live in my hometown is in the minority. They're anywhere from New York to Washington State.

I'm just starting to notice an increase in CD sales and web traffic, after more than a year of myspacing and nearly 10,000 friends. i have a stupid myspace question. . .

i wanted to look at my cousin's myspace page, but i had to be a registered user to look at it. so i registered on myspace. and i did the absolute minimum i needed to actually register. and most likely all the information i gave them was false. this was probably a good 6 months ago. now, in the past few weeks, i've been inundated with myspace friend requests. and i haven't even logged on to myspace for anything.

any idea why this is happening? anyone know how i could even find my registration info so i can delete my "account" over there?

Just spam, probably, if you didn't set the profile to private or set any friend request protocols. If you know the email address you registered with, you can request myspace send your password info to you. Then login, go to "Account Settings" (next to where your picture should be), and at the bottom is an option to cancel the account.
