For about 2 weeks I have had some major pain in my left knee. I was stretching one night and felt a pop in my knee. The pain during the night was harsh but during the day, no big, even after a lot of walking. The symptoms: when sitting or laying and my leg is at any kid of an angle for more than a few minutes, first a stiffness starts to set in, then a mild burning sensation, then it builds to kind of a screaming "oh my lord my knee is trying to give birth" type of pain. No swelling of any note.

After doing a little reading and talking to a nurse it sounds like I may have torn a tendon. Has anyone done this? It sounds like it takes a long while to heal and there is not much you can do to speed it along.

Thanks for any shared experiences or advice.

I don't want to scare you - it could be a variety of different things or it could be nothing. But, if something is wrong you could be causing a lot more damage by not going to the doctor- even if you aren't feeling any pain now. I STRONGLY advise that you make an appoinment and go the doctor (or ask for a reference to an orthopaedic doctor or one familiar with sports injuries).
Yes it will take a while to heal but there are strengthening exercises you can do along the way.

This from someone who went undiagnosed for a severly sprained ankle and had 2 years of trouble because of it.
