I am planning on throwing my mom a surprise bday party (it's her 60th, but I will tell everyone it is her 50th, I'm only 23, so 50 is still believable). It is going to be in May. I am an accountant so I have to plan early to avoid tax season.
I am looking at invitations online (chili pepper type). I need soem help with the wording. I need to let people know it is going to be her 50th and that is surprise. Any suggestions?
Food suggestions or anything would be great.
Thanks

That site has a bunch and many of them offer wording suggestions too!
Also, you might try www.verseit.com for wording.

Just wanted to tell you this about our fiesta parties!
When we've done them in the past, it always seems that we have little to no time on the day of the party to cook. We always do what's called haystacks. You begin with chips, meat, cheese, and tehn put it all together - kind of like a glorified nachos. This way, you can do the meat the night before, and have everything else already chopped, washed & ready and in little serving bowls overed in the fridge, and you don't have to worry about doin gmuch the day of but sit it out and it be done. PM me if you want more info - I'm in a hrry today! :)

I found some Mexican themed invitations on My Gatsby (http://www.mygatsby.com). There were a couple of jalapeno pepper invitations and one with sombreros, along with some other similar styles. They're all very cute and worth checking out.

Thanks for the great suggestions. I am thinking about having this catered (like low-key catered). I just need some food ideas to give to the caterer. It's going to be like 100 or so people and I just don't think I can pull of the food for that many people by myself.

I threw a Mexican fiesta-style bridal shower for my best friend when she got married. We bought the guests of honor some cute sombreros to wear during the party, we had a pinata (great fun for the adults - who said they're only for kids? ;) ) , and served a bunch of Mexican food and drinks (margaritas, Corona, taco bar, tortillas, etc.) And of course, we had some Mexican music blaring the whole time :)
I think our invitations just said something simple like, "It's a fiesta...ole'!" with pictures of sombreros, chili peppers, and margaritas on it.

Re: food
You can't go wrong with fajitas, rice and beans. Another traditional Mexican party food is beef "birra" (shreaded beef), tortillas, rice and beans. Potato salad is usually served, too. If you plan on serving alcohol, don't forget the margaritas!
I would serve fajitas.
There is a whole slew of fiesta-type invitations here (http://www.impressinprint.com/items.aspx?R=R&CID=-1&SCID=-1&SSCID=-1&CCID=68&MENUID=-1) - maybe the wording on one will inspire you.
