Hi all! Hope everyone is having a good night!
Welcome Brady! What a cute little guy you have. I have a niece exacty 2 months younger.
Great WI's lindybug and peanutbutter!! Keep up the good work!
I've been doing ok staying on track this week. Have DH's bday party on Sunday and WI on Monday so we'll see how that goes.
Oh and Emily and Brady - I do online as well.

Ok, it's time to get a new scale at home. My weigh-in day is Monday, but AI stepped on the scale this evening just to gat an idea of where I am and it said 212. As much as I'd love to think it, I am pretty sure I didn't lose 8 lbs in a week. Anyone have any suggestions for a scale? I saw the WW scale by (I think) Conair at Ulta this weekend - is it really worth $60?

On a separate note, I was in a real cooking mode today and I'm working on lunch items for while I'm contracting, since I'll be nearly a 45 minute drive from home. I experimented and dredged up a recipe from my distant past and it turned out really well. When we lived overseas, my mom used to buy curry puffs from the local bread man ... they were kind of like samosas, but with a more biscuity crust and baked, rather than fried. So I just played around some and came up with this:

--------------------------------------------
1 med onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 T vegetable oil
2 medium Idaho potatoes, peeled and cubed
1/2 lb mushrooms, chopped
1/4 small head of cabbage, chopped
1/2 bag of carrot shreds (the thick ones, not finely shredded)
1 small bag frozen peas
1 can light coconut milk
3-5 T curry powder (I used a mix of Vindaloo seasoning and straight curry powder from Penzys)
2 cans of Grands Buttermilk Biscuits
1 egg, beaten

Heat the veggie oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Saute the onion and garlic until translucent. Add potatoes, mushroom, cabbage, carrot, peas and saute for another 5 minutes or so. Add the can of coconut milk and the curry powder and stir will. Turn to med-low heat and let simmer for ~20 mins until the sauce has thickened. Remove from heat and let cool.

In the meanwhile open the cans of biscuits and prepare a surface to roll the biscuits out flat. You'll roll them one at a time.

Roll out a biscuit about small saucer size. Put about 1/3-1/2 cup of the curry mixture in the middle - I used a small gravy ladle and it was the perfect size. Fold over the dough, pinch closed and roll the edge up to prevent the sauce from leaking. Put on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and brush lightly with the beaten egg.

Bake in a 350 deg oven for ~25 minutes.

The recipe makes about 12 puffs - depending on how much filling you put in each one. You'll have 4 biscuits left over if you use the Grands cans of 8 each. I just baked those to have with soup.

According to WW recipe builder, each puff has 6 points ... and they're *huge*. I plan on taking one to work for lunch and it would be more than enough. DH and I split one (the test one) for a snack earlier today and it was very filling. They're very curry-tasting but not spicy hot. Just flavorful. If you want them *hot*, I'd add a little hot pepper flake to the mix and maybe use pepper oil to saute the onions and garlic.

Also I think you could lower the number of points by using smaller biscuits and making smaller puffs ... or by using the Grands low fat biscuits.

Hi everyone!

I know I posted here to let everyone know that I stopped meetings and started doing WW Online... I've lost 8 lbs. in two weeks! My first week was a huge loss-- 5.5, and then the 2nd was 2.5. I know it's definitely going to slow down, but it's really motivational!

KarenS: I have a great scale by Tanita. I got it at Bed Bath & Beyond (http://www.bedbathanddbeyond.com) two years ago, probably, and it's extremely accurate and consistent. It looks similar to this, but mine was more money ($50) and this one is $30. Mine also does the body fat measurement though, and this one does too, so maybe it has come down in price!

Thanks Alex67 It's been a struggle for me to lose the baby weight! They tell you breastfeeding makes the pounds melt away, but not in my case!! I had only been losing .6, .2 and .8, but this week I drank 12-14 cups of water a day it did the trick!! :)

WW made me buy new shoes! I had to go shopping for a good pair of work shoes today. I used to wear a 8 1/2, and now I wear a 7 1/2. Who knew?

I also dropped in bra sizes as well.

Great job Ferris and Emily on your losses!

Wow - this thread is great. My DH and I need to get back on the wagon. I lost 17 pounds and DH lost 30 about 6 months ago. Well, my weight was creeping back up (and I didn't take control!) and now I've gained 10 pounds back. My pants are getting tight and now I definitely have to do something.

I'll definitely be back!

I’m joining. My aunt has been to talk me into it. Last night she told me she’d lost 7 lbs, and today I weighed myself and saw that I was way higher than I’d ever been before. So I threw in the towel and decided to join. I’m doing it online. I had been using fitday before, but the WW site seems much more comprehensive.

I was just wondering, if you're on WW and get pregnant, can you stay on WW or do you have to go off? Is there a formula for adding additional points for pregnancy like there are for breastfeeding moms?

The WW website recommends that you not continue the program while you're pregnant.

No, they do not recommend it. I had actually just signed up for the online program when I found out I was pregnant last year, I called and spoke to a Rep. and she refunded my money as it was not recommended.

Did anyone feel hungry when they started? I’m thinking it’s because my body is used to getting 2500 calories a day. Does anyone have any tips for adjusting to normal sized portions?

When I first stated I was cranky all of the time because I was hungry. The key for me was to have food with me all of the time. Baby carrots were my best friend for a while. I ate about every hour. Eventually, my body got used to fewer calories and I didn't have to do this anymore. This also helped in eating less when I ate meals. If I was starving, I always ate too much.

Do not let yourself get to the point of starving. That is usually when I make some really bad choices! :o

Great WI amorey!! I also agree with IrishMeg... have healthy snacks throughout the day so you don't get super hungry and binge!

Congrats on your first weigh in amorey.

When I first started I felt so deprived - did not realize how much I had been eating. In addition to the other suggestions I wanted to add drink water - if you drink a glass of water (or even two) and you are still hungry then go for the snack - usually after drinking the water I'm not hungry anymore.

I haven't posted in a while - at my last weigh in I lost another pound so the total loss since I started is now 7 lbs - not where I thought I would be today but given that I haven't been able to work out this last week (reinjured my knee) I'm just happy I didn't gain anything!!

Wanted to add - I already lost inches on my back went from a 36C to a 34D...& there is a difference in how my old bra's and new one's fit. Ya'll are scaring me about your feet size going down - I cannot afford to have to redo my shoe collection again!!

Thanks for the tips. I think tomorrow I should plan on brining some things to snack on during the day, because here I am, a half hour before I get to go home, and I’m starving! I have some allergies to raw veggies like carrots. Can anyone recommend their favorite low-point snacks? I’m thinking I need to get my hands on some of that fat free popcorn!

Well after finally realising that I was not losing the weight I wanted to on my own for my June 2006 wedding, yesterday I joined WW online. So far so good but I have a couple of questions for everyone if you don't mind.

1. How many activity points should I aim for a day? Week?
2. I am allowed 24 points per day, do I eat all of them ?
3. Is is best to eat all of your activity points as well?
4. Is it best to stay away from eating the flex points?

mlfallis, I've been reading the WW message boards and CC WW threads the last few days, and it sounds like people have the best luck when they eat all the activity points and flex points. Otherwise you might not get enough calories and your metabolism may slow down and slow down your weight loss.

angel17 congrats on your loss! Hope your knee gets better soon.
Welcome mlfallis and congrats on your upcoming wedding! I agree with amorey that it's best to eat all your points, otherwise your metabolism slows down. I eat all my pts plus all my flex and still end up with losses. (I need to work on earning activity pts though!) Good luck!

I went to Applebee's for lunch today and tried one of their WW menu items. I honestly have to say that I'm not a big fan of Applebees, and it was pretty gross! I got the Teriyaki Steak Skewers... ugh, the steak was tough, not any flavor, the rice was awful (it said pilaf but it wasn't) and the broccoli was WAY overcooked. :(

I am skipping my weigh-in today. I took the entire past week off the program... This weekend was my 30th birthday and I was determined to live it up! And boy oh boy, did I ever. LOL

I was going to go and face the music today anyway, but my friend who I go to meetings with has to work late and asked if we could skip this week anyway. I am okay with not knowing... Just need to be sure to get back on track right away so I can lose whatever I may have gained this past week!

Important info for everyone: ;)

If you are thinking about buying the Pillsbury refrigerated pre-rolled out cookie dough for halloween, don't. You waste all your points eating a bunch of cookies that taste like crap. The only way to make the cookies taste good is by putting tons of frosting on each one.

Don't waste your Halloween points on this junk!

Just curious-- how do you girls do on the weekends?

I do AWFUL-- we are always invited to some party/wedding/family event, and I just have no self control. I end up using my points for the day, plus all my flexpoints! Last night I had two parties back to back, and it was much worse than normal!

Luckily my weigh-ins are Friday mornings, so I have the remainder of the week to make up for it (that's why I plan my weigh-ins BEFORE the weekend, because this has always been a problem for me.) I just was wondering if anyone had any tips on "behaving" at parties!

It was actually 2 weeks between weigh-ins (I was in a wedding last saturday).

Weekends I let myself have what I want on the weekends. I don't go crazy, but if we go to breakfast I get something good. If I go to a party I make sure I eat popcorn before we go and that way I won't eat as many bad things!! I figure that I use up my flex points on those days and don't use them during the week.

Hi all,

I hope it's OK if I join you all :) I really need to get back on WW (this will be my 3rd go), but I am too afraid to get on the scale to see what my starting weight will be! We moved cross-country almost 2 months ago and went through a very stressful time... we stayed at a hotel for 3 weeks and ate junk pretty much the whole time, and now I am home alone all day doing the job-hunt thing so I am eating way too much. Since we now live in AZ it's been a little too hot to be out much during the day, but hopefully that will change soon so I can get out and walk more.

I think I'll be trying online since the only meeting is a little far away.... I'm a little disappointed since my last Leader was wonderful, so we'll see how it goes.

Oh, and I always end up doing badly on weekends... I got into a bad habit of thinking that weekends are for eating out, so now I never want to cook!

I’m so sad I gained a pound! :( I ate an extra 8 points this week, but that wouldn’t equal gaining a whole pound, would it? I lost a lot pretty quickly off the bat, (5lbs in the first 10 days) and I’m getting AF this week. I wonder if that doesn’t have something to do with it. Do other people see a gain before AF?

Weekends are really hard for me, because that’s usually when we have some kind of social activity going on. That usually involves unhealthy food and alcohol.

I'm starting WW yet again this week. I know I am so much happier when I'm doing it, so I don't know why I let myself slide! I haven't been to a meeting in months, so I'll be going again this Friday. I gained 7 lbs after going OFF birth control - wtf??

amorey - it probably is AF. I have found that I don't lose anything (and sometimes gain) during both the week before AF and the week before I ovulate (sorry, TMI). Anyway, it's frustrating at first but that's just how my body works - I think it's from retaining water because the following week I will lose 2-3 lbs.

As for weekends: I like to weigh in on Fridays, like EmilyZA. That way if I use a bunch of flex points on the weekend, I can adjust for the rest of the week.

My BIL's girlfriend said that she's heard (not sure if she heard it at the gym or at WW) that you can expect a 3-4 lb. loss during AF. Not sure how true it is, though...

Weighing-in tonight. I have stayed on program all week! :D BUT I took off the week before for my birthday getaway, and really pigged out. (Can you say 64 item breakfast buffets, 5 course dinners, and pumpkin cheesecake?! Obviously, I skipped WI last week.) The week before that, I was actually up 1.2 at WI.

So, I guess I'm kinda hoping this week and last week will cancel each other out, and I'll remain the same at this WI, which is actually 1.2 higher than I was. BUT it would still be over 15 pounds lost overall... Gotta think positive.

5.5? Am I reading that right? Woo-hoo! That's not so bad! Not great but not terrible either. Oh, and did I mention the three beers too. Ouch. Bad day! At least I had only eaten 6 points up until that point!

Cilantro, I'm doing the at home, honor system too... I never really got into the whole Flex points system so I still use the range of points and the old journals. I did well yesterday and am doing OK today so far... need to get outside and walk a bit since it looks cloudy. For me it's good when you can't see the sun cause that means it might be in the low 80s instead of pushing 90!!

Can I join?

I did WW before my wedding and got down to 143 - not goal but I was super happy. I gained a huge amount of weight during pregnancy but did WW for nursing moms and got to down to about 155 - I am back up to 167  - We are TTC but may take this month off so I can try and knock of some weight. So I am doing WW online.

Welcome, Sarah!

Well, my WI went okay. I was down 0.4 pounds. So, still 0.8 to lose to make up for the 1.2 I gained a couple weeks ago... BUT it looks like my 30th birthday weekend BINGE since then wasn't too damaging.

My goal for this week is to really increase my physical activity. I was doing great during the summer, but since the cold weather arrived, I haven't been doing much. (Hibernation mode!) I'm sure that's why my weight loss has slowed down.

Welcome to the newbies!
I think I'm going to change my WI day to Friday instead of Monday... I have a hard time on the weekends and usually end up going over what little FP I have left... so maybe if I start out with a full 35 FP I will do better. I also do the online version but I need to get my butt back in gear! I was up 2.75 this past week. Yikes!!

I have always triend to have a mid week weigh in - right now I am doing it on Thursdays - that way I have most of my bonus point available and if I need to add more activities or eat a little less - Tuesday and Wednesday tend to be good days. The way WW use to work a Monday weigh in was great because yoru bonus points came from saved point from your dailey range throughout the week!

Well I have been back on for a solid 3 days and so far so good, usually once I make it past the first week I am pretty hooked. I have been trying to excercise everyday (ben working on that for a few months know) even if it is just a walk through the neighborhood with my DD and dog(very hilly area). It seems to help not just with earning extra points but I actually feel less hungry and my worst time of day is the later afternoon to dinner stretch since we are always home then.

Oy. I've fallen off the wagon and I can't get up. Seriously, I've been trying but between Halloween and a wedding this past weekend, it's been just ridiculous. It's also harder for me to get to the gym since I signed on for Yearbook team at my school. Sometimes they go until 7pm at night.

Anyway, I hope you'll take me back, despite my lousy track record here. I'm getting married in just TWO MONTHS and I have to get my weight in check.
I will post current stats either tomorrow or Wednesday, after I've recovered from the damage of the weekend.

Amorey, that stinks. Hmm...I feel hungry alot on WW too. I find that I really don't lose any weight unless I do hard core cardio, like running 2+ miles or something. Maybe if you increase your exercise that would help. Also, consider where the bulk of your points are going and how they are spread out. I often make the mistake of eating all my flex points on the first three days and then i'm screwed for the rest of the week. Good luck with this! :)

Hey ladies...if you are feeling hungry on WW you need to check what exactly you are eating. When you are hungry, eat a protein or fiber filled snack...almonds, string cheese, a bowl of high fiber cereal (w FF milk), a Luna bar. Something like that. That will stave off hungry pangs, especially during the day. EAt breakfast but not like toast...eat yogurt and a piece of fruit or an english muffin and peanut butter. The trick is eating food that will fill the void and not just eat up points.

Keep up the great work, ladies. This is going to be a hard week, but I know you can be strong!

As for me... I'm pregnant! So, I'm going to have to leave WW behind for a while. I've lost 17.6 pounds in the last 15 weeks, which has brought me within 2 pounds of my goal. (Argh... So close!) I have learned so much, and I'm glad to be starting this pregnancy in much better shape than I was previously. I'll probably still count points in my head, and I am determined to keep making good choices throughout the next 9 months. And you know I'll be back to lose the weight afterwards!

I just found this thread and wanted to post and subscribe.

First of all congrats to all the big losers so far and to lindybug on your pg.

I originally joined WW in 2004 and lost about 15 lbs. before my wedding. Due to many silly excuses I have gained that back (and being painfully honest) a "few" more lbs with it. I don't want to join in the meetings again due to $$$ but I would like to start again at home with DH. He's sort of already started, not counting points per se, but just really cutting back and he's lost about 20 lbs.

The only thing holding me back right now are the fact that Thanksgiving is one week and will include two dinners for us. We go to Disney World in two weeks and that will include a lot of really yummy food. Thirdly, here comes Christmas and the four parties we are already obligated to. So would I be crazy for trying to start now or should I just wait until after Christmas??

Current stats:

Height: 5'4"
Current Weight: 160
Goal Weight: 135

Sorry for the long first post:rolleyes: ...

I think it's a good idea to start WW now. You could go into the holidays on a modified WW plan (which I may be doing). Eat healthy, WW style every day. But, allow yourself a 'free day' on Thanksgiving and Christmas Days only. Then, allow yourself 'free eveings' at the parties, but eat healthy at every other time. At Disneyworld, I'd do my best to eat as healthy as possible and avoid the junk foods. Most parks have healthy options now, so it shouldn't be hard.

Thanks DiscoDiva, I really need a kick start. Those are some great ideas, I guess I'm just the type that needs encouragement. DH does what he can, but I don't feel that accountability factor with him. Do you know how much $$ it is to use the WW web site?

11-18-2005, 08:52 AM
Mobox, thanks for the tip. I was trying to fill up on things that were 0 or 1 point, which is fruits and veggies and things like “1 small pita.” This week I’ve been trying to add more protein to my meals and I haven’t had any trouble staying within my Points target.

Congrats lindybug!

LauraPerg, I would start now. Even if you do have some parties, there are still lots of days in there where you’ll be able to eat healthy. For the holiday season, I’m trying to remember that celebrating isn’t about stuffing myself silly, it’s about being with friends and family first and secondly eating a moderate amount of yummy food. Even if you don’t lose during the holidays, hopefully you won’t gain and won’t have that much more to lose come January.

As for myself, I lost a whole inch off my hips in my first four weeks on WW! :D

LauraPerg
11-18-2005, 09:06 AM
Thanks amorey! That's another great idea, to measure. I know there were some weeks when I first started WW that I lost just under a lb, but I was still losing inches. We need all the encouragement we can get!!

I know what you mean about focusing on family rather than food. I'm going to have to share that philosophy with my in-laws!!

Ugg - I didn't loose anything this past week. And I did put effort into it and stuck to my weekly points. I'm attributing it to water weight/swelling. I could not get my wedding rings on this morning and AF is due next week. At least I hope that is it. With Thanksgiving this week, I'll be lucky if I don't gain anything.

angel17
11-21-2005, 10:38 AM
I haven't been by in about 3 weeks since I've totally lost focus since I got back from wedding/hurricaine Wilma. Good news is I haven't gained anything but I haven't lost anything either.

LauraPerg
I had a great talk with my girlfriend last Friday - she said Thanksgiving is ONE day - just enjoy the day and let it go at that. If I eat right the rest of the week and don't partake in the usual left over gluttony there is no reason why I can't actually do WW this week and keep it going throughout the upcoming Holiday Season. I have flex points for a reason - use them when I know I have an event that evening or weekend and eat properly the rest of the time. She really got me re-energized about sticking to this and getting back on track - I may actually reach my year end goals in spite of myself!!:D

I think I paid $60 for the first three months for WW online - it seems so long ago - I actually need to find the date because I should be due a renewal soon. Good luck to all.

congrats lindybug!!

This was my first week and I haven't done Stephanie's workout yet, but I am doing all of them without weights until I get all the steps down! I had a few tough moments with Allie's workout (Aerobic Body Shaping) today, so I just marched in place and basically watched-- it was my first time doing that tape, and I figured that it would take me a bit to learn the moves. I'm pretty coordinated though, at least I think I am-- I went to dancing school for ten years so I'd better be for all the money my parents spent!

Hello all! I just started WW online on Monday. So far so good! I only have about 10 lbs. to lose but it would also be nice to practice a healthier way of eating. I did SBD a few years ago with great success but trying to start Phase 1 over again at this time of year is just too much. We got a new scale last week and according to it I dropped 4 pounds in the past 3 weeks...but alas, Thanksgiving came and went and those pounds came back. I notice when I up my water intake, the weight seems to come off easier. During the summer I worked on a very intense 8 week project and I lost 5 lbs. during that time, even though I ate pretty crappy (lots of craft service snacks)...but I was drinking about 120 ounces per day!

I work out 4-6 days per week doing a mix of pilates, yoga, hip hop dancing and body sculpting (cardio & weights) and that has helped a lot. In the past 2 months I have dropped almost 8% body fat! So here are my starting stats for WW:

Start weight - 120
Goal weight - 110
Height 5'4"

You swap activity points when you go over your daily limit. Example, my limit is 24, if I eat 26 and have 2 activity point no points from my 35 is taken away. However if I eat 28 then 2 would be taken from the 35. I find if I eat my AP I get better results.

Hope that helps

Easy, if you earn 2 activity points in a day, you get to eat 2 more points worth of food. Now if you're doing it on the internet, I have no idea how that works, but you should be getting more food points after exercising.

Emily sorry about the gain... it will come off next week!
As for me, I WI today and it was awful... I haven't been staying OP very well the past few weeks (ok, months) and I'm up to a new high. Gained 1.9# to be 328.4#. The thing I'm disappointed about this week is I thought I was eating ok, better than I had been lately anyway. Granted, I didn't do the best journalling pts but I guess that's what happens. I'm going to try harder to stay OP because my wt is really starting to scare me.

I am officially rejoining ww tomorrow night. I can't wait to feel in control of my weight again. It is a never ending battle! This seems like a great place to help stay motivated and share ideas with eachother. :)

Well after being on the program for 7 week, I hit my first week with no weight loss. I realise I should be happy that I have lost 12 lbs, but with 22 still to go it is hard. I am hoping to get back to journalling everything this week, since I have been getting lazy.

Hope everyone else had better WI this week.

I lost 1 lb. last week. I guess that's okay right? It was my first week and I stayed OP but I do gain a lot of AP's (worked out 6 times last week).

ETA: How often do use your extra points? On the WW boards most people say that it's pretty common and they use most of their extra points every week.

dollface 1 pound is great! Congrats. To answer your question, I try to never use my activity or flex points. I find that if I use my activity points I don't lose as much weight.

mlfallis Don't be discouraged. I have been doing the program for 26 weeks and have only lost 17 pounds. :( I did WW 6 years ago and lost 26 pounds in 12 weeks and kept it of until I got pregnant! It has been frustrating this time around, but I know the program works and the weight will eventually come off.

I find it varies for everyone. You have to find what works for you, and finding that balance can be very hard. When I was doing Tae Bo 6 times a week, I was eating all of my Flex Points and my APs, and I gained. However, my leader told me to eat MORE so I could lose! I couldn't find the right balance... and still haven't :( But congrats on the loss!

I only lost a half pound this week. :( I’ve lost 6.6 lbs in 8 weeks. I am going to thoroughly measure myself tonight though. Because of my strength training, I think I’m gaining muscle mass and have probably lost more than just 6.6lbs of fat.

Oh- I eat all my AP and FP. If I don't I get over-hungry and pig out on something stupid. I'd rather have slower weight loss and feel good, otherwise I won't stick with the plan.

I just rejoined! The first time I did it I lost a lot of weight. I am hoping to loose the weight for my wedding this July! I just need the motivation to stay on it. I seem to do great and then slip up after I start to feel good about my weight loss. I tend to treat myself for my losses and have to start treating with non food rewards! This seems like a great place to help eachother!

I use Online too-- all you need to do is go into your account settings, there is a weigh in option (I think) and that's where you change it.

mlfallis it won't let you enter wts for 2 different days on the same week so you'll either have to keep Monday's WI this week as your wt and next week enter in your Friday WI, or you will need to edit your wt for this week and change it to today's wt and day. I recently did the same thing because weekends are hard for me. HTH!
Welcome preppypinkgirl!
Emily, Brandy, Amorey good job on your losses!
dollface some of the WW message boards are just awful but there are a couple decent ones out there.. I don't know how much you have to lose but the 100+ board is wonderful and supportive. I know what you mean about some of the other ones though!
As for me, I WI today and was up 0.4#. I didn't really stay on track as well as I would have liked this past week but I have vowed to do better this week. I journalled and stayed within my pts today, plus on my lunch break I went to the mall and walked for 40 mins, then went back to work and had my smart ones. I realized this week that in the past few months I've gained almost 1/3 of the way to 400#!!!!! (I'm now 328.8, was below 300 at one point.) That really made me realize that I NEED to stay OP!! NO more excuses!

I lost another .5 lbs this week.

I am really loving the core plan. I’m glad I switched. I am much less hungry and actually using less of my activity and flex points. Core lets you accumulate your activity points all week, which is great because it’s unlikely that I’ll have time to work out when I’m going somewhere I’ll want to use my extra points.

And in other exciting news, I’m wearing pants today that didn’t fit when I started WW! :)

I lost some weight this week - woo hoo!

For those who are thinking of substituting unsweetened applesauce for butter when baking, be careful. I made some choc. chip cookies today and they had a very weird soft consistency: they just were't 'right.' So, if you do this substitution, make sure it's in something like muffins, bread, cakes, etc., where a softer, moister consistency is okay.

DiscoDiva

Okay, I'm not meant to make or eat Christmas cookies. ;) I tried the choc chip cookies (see above post) and I ended up throwing most of them away. So yesterday, I tried sugar cookies. Half of them stuck to the baking sheet and broke into little bits, many others burned on the bottom, and less than half were really edible.

Do you think somebody is trying to tell me something? :D

If I am still hungry and I have no more points left I:
get up from the table, and do something else
eat a zero point snack, such as celery sticks
take a nap
if all this doesn't work, i will eat something, I figure my body needs it!

on measuring the pasta, i do this with a small scale. I find that smaller pasta, like elbows and pastina give me the illusion that I am eating so much more than just a few ziti!

The scale has a clear bowl on top, so you can put/pour your food into the bowl. It cost around $30 but was worth every single penny. I've had it for a year and still use it all the time. If it every breaks (which I doubt, because it's well made), I'll buy a new one!

So tonight I tried the chocolate chip cookie recipes that was on the WW site. I mixed up the batch, and only baked 6 in my toaster oven. I formed the rest into a log and it's in the freezer, for slice and bake cookies for later!

They were decent, the only change really was to use light cream cheese in place of butter. At only 1 point each, this recipe is a keeper!

Next weigh-in is Wednesday and I have been trying very hard this past week.

One question for the point counters: At one time, there was a "points range" - like 18-22 points per day. Now, it is a minimum of 20 points. If at one time it was ok to have 18 points a day, is that still ok? Sometimes I have a hard time actually eating 20 points per day.

Thanks and good luck to everyone!

I was sooo good my first week and now I'm only 2 days into my second week and I'm struggling. I keep craving sweets.....:( I'm trying to fight it because I am determined to stick with it this time.

Have you tried those Weight Watcher cakes? They are tiny – twinkie sized, but very tasty and only 1 point.

yes but I didn't like them too much. I do like the ww chocolate caramel bars (also only 1 point) but they just don't always help. I'm still sticking with it and just trying to keep busy when I get real hungry or the cravings kick in.

Thanks for the suggestion!

I just finished week one and lost 5.5 pounds!

Starting - 171.5
Today's Weigh in - 166
Goal - 130

I didn't expect that at all, especially since I've never lost that much in week one (or any week) in the past. I know most of it's probably water, but it definitely keeps me motivated to keep going.

I found a great weight loss tracking chart online if anyone's interested. There's also a fee recipe point counter:

Great job on the weight losses!

Is it true that if you are "bad" once in a while, it isn't necessarily a bad thing? (Why do I ask? I was bad this morning!)

I was down 3 pounds this week, for a total loss of 17 so far!

I'm 11 pounds away from my 2/28 goal, so I really have to be good for the next few weeks!!

Hello Ladies,

Back again. I am going to start WW again on Tuesday. Congrats to everyone on the weight loss. It is so encouraging. Last year I lost 15lbs but i gained 8lbs back.:( I havent been able to get myself motivated lately.

So here I go....

Starting Weight: 187
This week: 187
Goal:137
Hopefully with in the next 6-8 months.

Just weighed in and I am down another 3lbs. That's a total of 7.5lbs for my first two weeks. :) I feel pretty happy that I am really sticking with it this time and at least my weight is going down!

AnnaLow-I think it actually is good to be somewhat bad once in a while to get your body burning calories a little quicker again. Do you use the extra weekly points that ww allows now? I have been trying not to use them too much but used a bunch yesterday because we made meatballs, sauce & pasta yesterday - yum! I still had 11 points left from the weekly 35 so I was still sticking with the plan but was able to enjoy 2 meatballs!

Is it true that if you are "bad" once in a while, it isn't necessarily a bad thing?

It depends on what you mean by bad. If you are going over points (meaning you've used all daily, flex, etc.) then yea, I'd say it's bad in the sense that you might not see results on the scale. But if you mean bad as in using more flex than normal, that can be good! There are several theories (including the popular "Wendy Plan") that if you mix up your points a lot (22 one day and then 30 the next) you keep your metabolism guessing which supposedly results in better weight loss. I hope that makes sense. Google "the wendy plan" and you'll find lots of info!

On another note, I'm done another pound today- yay!!! Official WI isn't 'til Thursday though. Hopefully by then I'll be down another .5 or a pound.

Today I hope to stary working out. I am really good at the food portion of WW but I have a really hard time with exercise. I always find an excuse not to! Ick!

I'm on Lifetime, and I have been for about 14 months. There have been times when I have been very bad! And you know what? That's okay!

I couldn't keep my weight down by being perfect all the time, and that's not what WW is about. There have been days when I've eaten 5 pb&j sandwiches, days when I've eaten what I swear would be half a cake, and days when I've eaten about a thousand cookies. Sometimes I need to do that, as it keeps me sane. When I first got to Lifetime, I allowed myself one day a month to go crazy and eat everything I wanted. I've since stopped doing that and I have occasional indulgences when I want them.

To me, bad every once in a while can be a good thing. :) If you start being 'bad' every other day, then that's a whole 'nother story.

Anna Low

Here is how I was "bad".....we went out to breakfast. Then, we went out to lunch/dinner (430pm-ish) and I had several rolls that were slathered in butter. Real butter. Anyway, I was pretty good the next day - stayed within my points.

But, here are two problems. The first is that I am having a hard time eating a full 20 points per day. Even before WW, I didn't eat all that badly. Lots of salads, fresh vegetables, etc. My problem was really portion control and desserts. I have a fondness for desserts! Anyway, now, I am still eating the fresh veggies and have substituted the regular bread with lite, regular cheese with 2%, regular dressing with lite, etc. So, I still basically eat the same things, but the point count has really dropped. And, unless I literally snack all day long, I am having trouble balancing getting enough to eat with getting enough points.

The second problem is that I think I have some kind of bug today. I feel like crap crap crap. Will probably get all of today's points in the form of Pepto.

I have never done WW before but am seriously thinking about joining. I have about 30 pounds of baby weight I really need to lose, and am breastfeeding (pretty much exclusively) so haven't had much success with other diets. I'm hungry all the time and my milk supply dips down if I just cut calories or restrict carbs.

I have a few questions before shelling out the money though- any help is much appreciated!
I'd be doing the online version, not in person meetings. I don't have a scale at home, would it be a good idea to get one? And do I need a food scale? How difficult is it to calculate points? My big question is how can I tell which program (Core or Flex) would be better for me? I think my big hurdles are that I have a sweet tooth and portion control. I wind up grabbing a lot of carbs because my food prep time is fairly limited with an 8 month old.

I want to join as I've heard many positive stories, I'm just worried about spending the money and finding that it's too complex for me to incorporate into my life.

bamboo: This is what I would suggest, just my suggestiong though ;)

I would buy a scale, but not a food scale to begin. Alot of items you can measure with normal kitchen items (1 cup, 1 tsp, etc) I would start on the Flex plan as it allows you to get a bit of sweets in, as long as you make sure to track them. It isn't difficult to calculate the points, you can even add your own recipies to see what they are, plus they have lots of really good ones on the website for you to try.

I've hit a plateau - it sucks! I have been at 116 for the past few weeks. So this week I am going to cut out refined carbs after dark and see what happens. I thought about combining SBD and WW since I did do well on SBD but I don't think I could handle the induction phase again (giving up fruit is the worst).

I hit many plateaus on my way to lifetime, and a big binge always helped me get out of them, though I wouldn't advise that. :o

I've been doing the typical Lifetimer pound creep of 2-3 pounds, and I lost 1.8 today - woo hoo!

Hi Everyone,

I would love to join this thread! I joined WW last week and had my first weigh-in today. So far I'm really happy with the program. I did it before (when it was winning points) and lost. I hated that I was eating a ton of FF/processed foods though, so I think I am going to try Core this time around. We'll see how it goes! Here are my stats:

SW: 191.6 (ugh!)
CW: 185
GW: 140
Pounds to go: 45

Starting weight: 191 (last Friday)
Goal weight: 155 (but really just to fit back into my pre-pregnancy clothes)

I'm doing the Flex plan online and so far (two whole days ;) ) I'm liking it. I need to get together a meal plan and shopping list for going to the store this weekend and I'm finding the online resources really helpful.

Great loss for your first week nolagirl! I am jealous! I'm halfway through my third week so I am still pretty early on too.

When I am having a tough day sometimes, coming here helps to keep me on track. This may sound silly but the ww commercial also helps motivate me even though I am not going to meetings. ;)

Hi! Newbie here. Gotta lose the rest of the baby weight +5 lbs, so my goal is to lose a total of 25 lbs. I joined WW online and lied about breastfeeding because for some reason you can't do the newmom program online, but I don't have time to go to the meetings in person. I'm not really trying to strictly diet, so much as to just get back on track with healthy eating, which is now going on 11 months ago. When pregnant, I was always starving and overate and then now while BF'ing, I thought I could eat whatever I wanted because I burn an extra 500 calories a day and then came the holiday eating....and before I knew it, I hadn't lost a pound since he was 2 weeks old. Just one day of being on WW helped me to realize I'd been consuming an insane amount of food, BF'ing or not! My "healthy" breakfast was 15 points, not counting the juice I sometimes drank with it!!!
I'm hoping this thread will help motivate me as well. Good thing I had this kid in the winter! ;)

Joining in. DH and I would like to start TTC sometime this year and I have some serious weight to lose before I'll consider starting so I joined WW for the first time today. I'm doing WW Online and I'm going to do my best to keep up with this thread for support. Thanks for starting this thread! Reading through it really confirmed to me that WW is the way to go for me and I love reading everyone's posts.

So here I go...I'm gonna type it...

SW: 220 ouch!
GW: 150
Height: 5'4"

I would like to go lower for my goal weight, but this is my goal right now.
On top of WW I'm continuing my work outs. On Monday's and Wednesday's I work with a Pilates instructor for an hour each day and on Tuesday's I work with a weight trainer for an hour. Along with that I do 30 minutes to an hour of cardio each of those days. Wish me luck!!
