Oooh, I will play. My son is 16 months old and we just started TTC last month. I'm still very nervous about dealing with m/s AND a 1 year old, let alone an newborn and a 2 year old...but I'm also very excited at the idea of having a sibling for DS to grow up with.

Yea! One taker! :D My next door neighbor is about 12 weeks pregnant and has an 18-month old. She has been sick constantly and has had a hard time taking care of her son. That scares me about getting pregnant with an active toddler.
Do you have a gender preference for #2 since you already have a son? I think I want another boy. I think it would be cool for my DS to have a same sex sibling.

Hi gals! I'll play, too.
My DS is 21 months old, and we've been officially TTC for 5 months now. Still not preggo. I know 5 months isn't that long, but I'm soooo impatient! I always wanted the kids to be 2 years apart, and now they will be at least 2 1/2 years. Oh well, I guess you can't plan everything perfectly!
I didn't have MS with DS at all, knock on wood. And let me tell you, the older he gets the harder it is to keep up! I can't even imaging being sick with him as active as he is. I guess we'll cross that bridge when we get there.
As far as gender, I would love a girl for #2, although I agree with bluebunny that a boy would be cool, too. I guess I don't really care either way. I just want a baby, period! Any baby will do!

Me too!
We weren't sure when to TTC#2. We had an oopps in Aug/Sept and got pg. I was so nervous! They would've been 17 months apart. Unfortunately, I m/c at 7-8weeks. In the weeks that I thought I would be a mom of two, I really got used to the idea. We are now actively TTC #2.
I want my kids close in age. I think 2 years apart in school would be my idea. That is what my sis and I were and we are b/f. The only worry I have would be financial. Two in daycare is expensive. I am sure we would work it out and be fine.
Gender-Part of me really wants another girl! Sisters are the best. I would be happy with a boy too though. I know DH would love a boy!
Good luck everyone!!

We are TTC as well. We would want a girl :). Don't have much time for the next 1.5 weeks, we are moving up North, but wanted to see updates when I could :).

The group is growing! :D
jjsanner, five months seems like forever when you're TTC, doesn't it? Planning is hard because you never know how long it's going to take to conceive. We're not actively TTC right now, just planning/thinking about it. I think about 2 years apart would be great so that would mean starting in January. But then I think about what if it takes more than a few months...should we start earlier? Or what if we get pregnant right away--uh-oh! It's so hard.
ajlanden, sorry to hear about your m/c. I had one prior to conceiving DS. It was hard but looking back I think my DS came at the perfect time. I hope you'll think that same when your second arrives. :)
jeggink, welcome! Good luck with your move! I imagine it will be challenging with a little one underfoot!

AHG! I just lost my post!
This group really is growing! It's nice to have other mom's ttc#2 to chat with!
Bluebunny I just recently went through all the what's ifs and whens, it's a very personal decision but I don't know if you're ever going to really feel ready, I know I still don't feel 100% ready but I feel good enough about my decision and I would be happy with my baby's being 2-3 years apart.
jjsanner it took us 5 month to concieve our DS and it did feel like forever, when you know you want something it's so hard to be patient! You are so lucky to have had no MS with your first pregnancy, I hope we are both as lucky the next time around!
ajlanden sorry to hear about your loss, I can only imagine how devestating that must have been. I also agree that 2 years apart is a wonderful age, this way the kids will be able to play with one another.
jeggink good luck with the move, where are you moving from?
SEX Ideally I would like 2 boys and a girl, so I really don't care what the next one is....as long as it's healthy. It would be nice for Tyler to have a brother that he would be close in age with, then they could protect the baby sister....but I know things don't always work the way you plan and I will be most happy with a healthy baby.:)
I just realized that I'm on CD 28 and AF is a no show thus far (for some reason I though CD28 was Thursday), I will be testing first thing tomorrow AM so wish me luck ladies!

, Ideally I would like 2 boys and a girl. Me, too!! :) And while we're talking about ideals, I agree with this as well: It would be nice for Tyler to have a brother that he would be close in age with, then they could protect the baby sister.
I'll take a healthy baby, too...I'm really not picky. ;)
Good luck!!! Let us know after you test.

Well, I tested last night and it was a BFN....AF still hasn't arrived though so there is some hope. If AF doesn't show by Thursday I will retest.
Was going to take DS to Toddler Time at the library today but my dog has something wrong with her eye and I have to take her to the vet at 12:45...now we will have to wait til next month, since the library only does it once a month for kids age 2 and under.:( It would be the one day I finally decide to go....

Octoberprincess-Sorry for the BFN! I still have hope for you!
cross-posted from my journal (come visit, if you want!)
Thoughts on TTC #2
Nervousness
*I am just now starting to get some sleep. I am not looking forward to no sleep and taking care of two kids.
*It seems weird, I know, but I don't know I can love someone as much as I love Dani. Will that baby be as special?
*Will Dani suffer from lack of attention. She gets 100% of us now.
*One Word....MONEY
Excitement
*I would love to give Dani a sibling. My sister and I are best buds. I couldn't imagine life without her.
*I never knew I had so much love to give. My heart has grown ten -old since Dani. I look forward to falling in love with another one.
*Expanding our family. I love my little family and can't wait for it to grow!
Anyone else want to share what they are scared of and what they are excited for?

OctoberPrincess, bummer about the BFN. I hated testing b/c I'd get so worked up. Hopefully by Thurs. it will be different. ;)
*********
Here are my thoughts on TTC#2:
Scared of pregnancy:
Will my pregnancy be the same (little m/s, bad hip pain) or worse (lots of m/s, worse hip pain)?
Will I have trouble taking care of DS during the pregnancy?
Will I have to wean DS?
What will we do when I go to the hospital to have DS?
Having a second:
Excited about giving DS a sibling
Thrilled about being a family of four (five if you count our furbaby)
Worried that #2 won't be as cute, fun, smart, etc. as DS--will I love him/her as much?
Curious to see who #2 looks like
Concerned about my work schedule and childcare
Afraid of handling life with two children (everything from getting a shower to going to the store to sleeping...)
ETA: Oh, I FINALLY got AF for the first time since DS was born! We're ready to start on #2 (ready at least in that way). :)

I have worried over the same exact things with Tyler, in fact I still do..... Plus I feel that #2 will never have the closeness Tyler and I have shared since we had no distractions.
Money is also a concern since I am very comfortable now, that will definitely change once another baby is added to the picture.
I too am very excited to give DS a sibling, he is just now starting to enjoy the company of children his ago...
Well AF showed, I guess I'm back on CD1....

Is there room for me?
DH and I definitely want 2 kids, it's just a matter of when. DD will be 14 months old  next week. I don't want 2 under 2, so that would mean TTA until Jan-Feb. But we were less than careful recently so if AF doesn't show by next Fri or Sat, I'll be testing. I only just got AF back last month, so I don't know what to expect this month.
OctoberPrincess - sorry about the BFN :( .
Pros to TTC now:
- kids would be close in age. I'm not quite 3 years older than my sis and we are VERY close now. I'm 9 years older than my brother and sometimes I think he sees me as a 3rd parent.
-took us about 8 months of TTC last time.
-I'm already a SAHM so that decision is made for now.
Cons to TTC now:
-DD *still* doesn't STTN. Physically I don't know if I could handle any less sleep.
-we're still BF'ing and I think I want a little time to have my body to myself before sharing it again.
-I'm trying to start my own business.
I just packed away all DD's summer clothes and was practically crying b/c she'll never wear them again which really makes me want to have another baby.
Plus, I'm 31, which I know isn't ancient, but still. I don't want to wait too long.
I could ramble on forever about pros and cons, but I won't waste anymore space.
Sex - doesn't matter to me. Sisters are great, but I'm sure DH would enjoy a son next time.

We're TTC #2. We said we'd start when DD turned one (which was last week), but we sort of cheated and did a little SWH for a few months. Nothing happened, so now we're back to charting.
It took us 7 months to get DD even with timing everything perfectly every cycle, so I'm sort of mentally prepared to not succeed right away. (Though I hope we do!) I just don't want to join SAI this time around.

Welcome marathongirl and Abby'smom! Happy to have new faces. ;)
marathongirl, I'm 31 as well. :) Age is not a huge consideration to me in having a second child but I'd rather not wait too long. Plus, I think at least a two-year age gap between kiddos is great. As for your cons, I can totally relate. My DS still doesn't STTN either. He wakes up at least twice and won't get back to sleep without nursing. Oh well. As much as I would like to have my body back to myself for a few months before getting pregnant, I'm reluctant to wean. I really enjoy our BF relationship and right now would hate to see it come to an end. My DH suggested that I wean and then give myself some time before TTC. I figure DS will wean eventually and I'll have years of having my body to myself once I'm done with the childbearing years. I'm coming to terms with letting things overlap and actually thinking about not actively weaning unless and until we get pregnant again.

Welcome, Marathongirl and Abby'sMom!
Marathongirl were you on WC? I think I remember you from LIW...but I could be mistaken. I have a sister who is 11 years older than me and I there are times I definitely see her as another parent, so I guess I can relate to you brother..LOL. I'm also a SAHM.
Abby'sMom nice to have another mommy that's TTC #2 while I am..LOL. It took us 5 month to concieve DS#1, though it seemed like an eternity, but I try to remind myself that there are many couples out there that have been trying for more than a year. I remeber reading somewhere that 75% of couples get pregnant in the first 6 months of trying and another 15% get pregnant in the next 6 months, I use that to remind myself to be patient but it's still so hard!
Well I'm off, I have a 30% off coupon for Gymboree that I plan to use today!:) I need to get Tyler some more holiday clothes, he has a children's holiday party to go to so I want to get him something less formal that he could also possibly where for pics with Santa.

11-10-2005, 07:48 AM
OctoberPrincess - yup, I was also marathongirl on WC. Did a brief stint in LIW and was part of the SWH thread for a while. I was in gymboree the other day and holy cow - do they have some cute stuff!!! Have fun shopping!
bluebunny - I go back and forth about weaning. DD generally just nurses at night and sometimes going down for a nap, so it's really not that much. It's about the only way I can get her back to sleep during the night so we will probably keep it up for a while longer.
DD and I are off to my sister's tonight for a girl's night out. I'm really looking forward to it!

Can I join? (this is my first post on CC)
Our daughter is 20 months old, and this was our first cycle TTC (missed window with bad BD timing, so no chance this cycle!!)
I'm a teacher, so I really want to try for an August/ September baby, so that I can take the full year off without affecting my pay (I'm Canadian).
Sex:
We'd both really like a boy, since we're pretty sure we only want two kids.

Can I join?
CC name: duke's flygirl
Me: Joelle 31
DH: Denis 36
DD: Ryleigh (04 Nov 04)
We had always said that we would start TTC #2 when Ryleigh turned one (sound familiar Sherry? :p ) But we too, cheated and started to SWH when I got AF back at 9 months PP. So far no luck, but DH was away for training in September, and then last month was just a bit stressful with planning for Ryleigh's First Birthday, and Baptism, all the weekend before I went back to work! (I'm Canadian too), so AF was 3 days late, and I attribute that to stress, although I had NEVER been late before (I knew that I was PG with Ryleigh 3 days before AF was due to arrive).
Anyway, it is nice to have a group who are in the same boat, so to speak! I look forward to following along and getting to know you all! I recognize a few other faces (Hi Ashley!)
Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Welcome Dawney and Joelle!!
The waiting is driving me nuts! Another few days before O. Gawl darn-it, I hope we can catch the eggie.
QOTD:
Just curious...a few people have mentioned it, but how long did it take to TTC #1? It took us 4 months of TTC with charting. We weren't trying when we had the m/c last cycle.
bluebunny
11-14-2005, 03:47 PM
QOTD: We conceived in our second cycle trying for our first pregnancy but it ended in a miscarriage. I charted after the miscarriage and we conceived on my third cycle (about four months) and had DS.
Another question: For those of you who work outside the home, what changes, if any, will you make with your job after #2 arrives?
Good luck, ajlanden! :)

Welcome Dawny and Duke's Flygirl!
Marathongirl I love gymboree, I really need to do less shopping and more saving though..LOL.
As I stated in my previous post, it took us 5 months to concieve our DS but we only charted for 2 of those. If I'm not prengnant by the new year, I will begin charting again.
I don't work outside the home but I do babysit my friends daughter for some exta $$, I'm not sure I will be able to handle that with 2.
Since most of you have children my DS's age, what are you getting your kids for the holidays? For Christmas, Tyler's big ticket item is a Little Tikes kitchen (it's blue and green), he will also be getting a playground ball, plus some smaller things for his stocking. For Hanukkah (DH is Jewish), he will get a shopping cart with groceries (it matches the kitchen), busy ball popper, a puzzle, and some books.
bluebunny
11-14-2005, 05:47 PM
Aaah. The holidays. I really should start on my Christmas shopping. I haven't decided what we're getting DS, yet. So far, I think we'll probably get him some wooden puzzles and some new books (he loves books!). I've been trying to figure out what "big" item we should give him. He got so many things for his birthday in October that he doesn't really "need" anything. The play kitchen and shopping cart are great ideas but I don't think DS would appreciate those quite yet.
ETA: Anyone think I should start a "roster" of sorts in the first post?
marathongirl
11-15-2005, 04:15 AM
Hi everyone! I think a roster would be nice.
ajlanden - good luck this cycle!
If AF doesn't show by this Friday, I will be testing. I was half-heartedly charting, but since I don't get more than 2 hours sleep, it didn't make much sense. I was using the CBE monitor and we got lazy on a peak day.
QOTD time - took us about 6 months. I charted for 3.
QOTD holiday gifts - it's tough. Claire just had a b-day in September when she got a lot of things. My parents got her a sled and a trike, we'll probably get her some books. She's really into them now. I don't know what the ILs will get.
Work stuff - I'll probably try to do some combo of S/WAH even after #2. I'm starting an apprenticeship with a professional quilter in December and am hoping she will hire me on to quilt for her once my apprenticeship ends. Then I could work like 10 hours a week.
Hope everyone's doing well!
ajlanden

Thanks for the well-wishes! I'm crossing my fingers.
Work-I will continue working. I work M-Th.
Holiday: We are trying to go overboard. As much as I hate myself for saying it, DD is b-day is 12/15, so she will be getting many gifts at that time of year. It is silly of us to spend too much $ when she grows so fast! She will get a few great toys and some clothes.

I'd be happy to do a roster for the first page but instead of sifting through everyone's info again, would y'all mind reposting in Red so that I can easily see it?

I'm not charting, but just seeing what happens! I recognize a couple of you from that thread too!
We tried for about 3 cycles for DD, and we are on cycle #4 now, but one of those months DH was on training for the 2 most important weeks.
Holiday gifts: She is getting the Little Touch Leap Pad, and a couple of books for it, the Little People Farm, and Zoo, an outfit or two, a few books, and anything else I find between now and then.
Work: I am VERY lucky and get a full year off paid at 93% for maternity leave. So I will take my year off and then go back full time. I am in the Canadian Military, and my contract doesn't expire until 2013, so I have a few years left and then I retire with a pnsion at 38 almost 39 years old.
Good luck for all those testing soon!

Like Duke's Flygirl, I'm just seeing what happens right now. If I'm not pregnant by the new year I will probably begin charting though.
It looks like books are very popular among out children. DS loves his First Words book by Bright Baby, Where's Baby's Belly Button, Guess How Much I Love You, and Are You Ticklish. What books are popular among with your DC? I always love to hear recomendations. I just picked up a couple of Sandra Boynton books, and a book called I Love You Through and Through.
I guess I should get going, I have to be at Penny's at 9:30am for holiday pictures....

Well girls, even though we weren't technically TTC quite yet, I must say I was very sad to see AF show up this morning :( . Last time I think there were some issues with a short LP (mine were only 8-9 days) and Claire was conceived on the first round of clomid. This cycle was another 8 day LP. Any suggestions for lengthening it?
Books - Claire loves Guess How Much I Love You (she calls it the bunny book) and How the Cat Swallowed Thunder. She'll listen to The Very Hungry Caterpillar now and again.
I picked her up a little Winnie the Pooh flip-flop bed at BRU yesterday for Christmas. She's too little for it now, but maybe in a few months.

Good morning, I have been out of comission for a while. Moving sucks! DS is off schedule and we are still unpacking our apartment. Oh well hopefully by this weekend we will be unpacked.
It took us 6 months of charting to get pg with DS. The month I got pg was the month I went of Claritin and I noticed much more EWCM because of it. So now I am making sure I am not taking any Claritin. Last month was the 1st month I charted as I got AF back when DS was a little over 12 months old. This month I am taking it easy and haven't decided if I am going to temp.

Books, DS doesn't really care to much for them yet. I try to read to him and he would rather play with them or bend them :).
Holiday Gifts - Just a few small things as the grandparents will be getting a lot for him.
Work - I do work outside the home. We are not sure what we would do when #2 came along, it would depend on DH's job. Either he would stay home, work part time at night and weekends, or work full time if the job pays well. We will see.
Glad to see so many familiar faces here :)

Name: Dawny
Married: 06/29/2002
DD#1: 03/05/2004 (20 months)
TTC: November 2005
I've been charting, but not diligently. Basically start temping around CD 12-14 and temp until I O. (long cycles, O is usually around CD20-25) This past cycle has been strange - really high pre-O temps for me, and a big dip, then I oed. But, I kinda wonder if I oed on CD 24 instead of 26 (because of the CM). I'll try to post a link to the chart:

Books - Many, many favorites, but she's liked Dr. Seuss' Amazing Alphabet book since she was teeny tiny. The Very Hungry Caterpillar and various touch n feels are also on the hot list.
Holiday - Not sure yet. She just turned one and got LOTS of gifts, and we don't have much space in our house. Maybe some books.

Working after #2?
My mom keeps my son while I work but I need to look for other care as the busier he gets, the harder it is for her to keep up with him. I put my name on the waiting list at one center where a friend of mine takes her son but I wasn't thrilled with what I saw. I didn't know whether it was because I'm not thrilled about the idea of leaving him in daycare to begin with (only because I don't want to leave him at all, kwim?) or because there was something wrong with the place. So I looked at another place on Tuesday and LOVED it. It looks awesome! I'm so excited about it. The problem? Well, besides the 6-month to minimum one-year wait, it doesn't have a part-time program. That means I would be paying for full-time care when I need it only two to three days per week. The other problem? If we have #2, there is no way we can afford to put two in this center. Ugh. It it so frustrating. No wonder almost everyone I know with two or more kids is a SAHM; the price of daycare makes it nearly impossible financially to work and actually bring home any extra. I guess I'll have to keep looking. I wish I could find a part-time program somewhere. I'm not comfortable with a nanny or in-home sitter so that limits our options. I feel like I need to go ahead and find something so that if we do get pregnant, we'll have a plan for both children.

I literally can't wait for this cycle to be over. I hate my long cycles. I'm currently 11 DPO (or 13 if I oed on CD 24 instead) and just waiting for AF. It's impossible for PG this cycle anyway - bad timing! But, our course, the 'hopeful' part of me says, 'well, if I o'ed on CD 24 than I *could* possibly be preggo. Ugh. This was our first cycle TTC, and we weren't even gung-ho about it, but already I remember how much I always hated the 2WW.
Working after baby. I went back early with #1 (she was 6 months old) because DH was not working and was (still is!!) a SAHD. It's great, and I plan on taking the full year off with the next baby. DH will have to go to work for that year, then he can be a SAHD again if her chooses.
Well, I must go. DD and I just baked a carrot cake. She LOVES to bake with me!! It's so much fun!

Dawny - I hear you about hating long cycles. I usually O sometime around CD20-22.
We had a good weekend. Took DD for some walks since the weather was nice. I'm very much looking forward to Thanksgiving. It's definitely my favorite holiday.
Hope everyone's doing well!

I'm on CD 14 right now...I usually have 27-29 day cycles but we are still going to BD for a few more days to make sure we covered all of our bases.
The 2ww is the worst sometimes I wish I could just not think about it or that it would have just happened by accident sometimes after DS turned one so that I wouldn't have to be patient kwim???

marathongirl yeah, the long cycles are a killer. Feels like I wait forever to O. It's especially bad when TTC, since when you know a cycle is a bust (this one for me), you know it will be a long time before the next opportunity.
jeggink Good luck in your 2WW!!
Well, my temp finally droped below the coverline this morning, so AF is imminent. I've seriously never had pre AF cramps like this before, this is going on day 3 of cramps now. Ugh! I just want her to show up already!!

Hi all.
I think I'm in the 2ww -- I need tomorrow's temp to be sure. :p If I am, it's the second month in a row that I've o'd early -- which for me, is before cd25. So if so, I'm super happy about that. I hate the long cycle thing, too. Oh, and October, I totally hear you. I wished and wished and wished that SWH would work for us, but it didn't!
Work - Not going back in the forseeable future.

Dawny, jeggink, and Abby'smom - good luck in the 2WW! I hope it goes by fast!
For those of you who still get up in the night with your child - how important is it *really* to get 3 consecutive hours of sleep before temping? Just curious since I'm still up with Claire alot.
jeggink
11-22-2005, 05:39 AM
Marathongirl I am up once an hour after 4am with DS, but it's in our bed. At 4am I usually bring him to our bed to BF and I don't sleep well after that. I temp around 6:30. I believe that as long as it's normal for you, you should still see a pattern. If you want, try charting for a month and see if you see a pattern. I know my pattern this month was pretty clear, but last month it wasn't. I don't think 3 hrs of consecutive sleep is necessary as long as you have somewhat of a routine.
Sherry Sherry, it's funny that we got AF on the same day and are now O'ing on just about the same day. Hoping you have good luck this cycle.
Dawny Good luck in the 2WW!
Well, we managed to BD at decent times even though we weren't planning it that way. One night I got a little carried away after drinking some wine :o . Part of me is excited if I am pg, the other is scared again. It's funny cause after I took my temp in the morning this was our conversation
DH: Did your temp go up?
Me: Yup, I think it did
DH: OK, so does that mean boy or girl
Me:
I think DH would like another child and is excited about it.
ETA - I had a dream last night that I was having another child. We had an ultrasound or something like that, and I was told it was a boy. Weird huh.

AF is here! I'm pretty happy that this cycle is over. On to a new, fresh cycle! And, I looked at the calendar, and if I O aroung CD 20ish, I can test on Xmas morning!!!!!!
marathongirl I have a little Claire as well! I love the name, but I think it's becoming more popular now. I kinda hoped it would stay in the background, but now that 'Belle' of Days of our lives named her baby Claire, I think we're going to hear it a lot more!!

Dawny: What part of Canada are you in? I'm on the East Coast. Glad your cycle is over, and that you are onto a new one! Good Luck!
Marathongirl: Sorry, I can't give you any advice on the temping, I've never done it, but may start soon.
jeggink: I hope your dream comes true too!
Sherry: I'm in the 2WW again too! Wouldn't it be funny if we were PG again together! It would be great to have a familiar face in the August Mommies!
Octoberprincess: I hope you covered your bases too!
bluebunny: Thanks for doing all the updates!
As I said above, I am CD21 and in the 2WW now, and just waiting to test. I should be able to test with an early response on Monday or Tuesday. We shall see what happens. DH and I are just really ready for it, but are starting to think that we need to relax a bit, and just SWH!

Duke's flygirl - good luck on testing!
We are staying local for Thanksgiving. My parents live about 45 minutes south of DH and I so we are going there tomorrow afternoon. We'll spend Christmas in upstate NY with DH's parents. I just hate making the 6 hour drive. I suspect when #2 arrives we'll be starting our own family traditions at our own house. I can't imagine lugging presents and everything 6 hours away.
OctoberPrincess

Marathongirl Are you in NY? I'm in Staten Island. Man, I hate the 2 hour treck to my parents house (the catskills).
Duke's Flygirl we are still covering our bases to be extra, extra safe..lol. I'm on CD 18 now, when are you testing?

Morning Ladies!
I hope all the Ladies in the US had a good Thanksgiving!
Octoberprincess: Yeah for extra base coverage!
Marathongirl: You are so right about the travel...my IL's live about 3 hours away, and I can't imagine lugging 2 kids and all their stuff, PLUS all the presents too! My parents are a 2 hour flight though, so every third Christmas they all come to us...that is the plan, I hope we can all stick to it! This year is Christmas with the IL's and then New Years with my parents, next year the reverse, and then the year after here! I can't wait for that!
CD 24 here...and just waiting to test...I will test on Tuesday Mornnig, since I am going to be taking Ryleigh to get the second half of her flu shot, and her doc will the the one following my PG until we have to involve the OB/GYN since I will have to have a second C-Section. I LOVE Ryleigh's Doc! I wish I could see her too! But since I am in the Military, I have to see the Military doctors. Up until about 2 years ago, that was whomever was there...makes for really good continuity of care! Fortunately, now I have been seeing the same Doc for the last 2 years, he is a civilian, but was military, so he understands all the stuff! Ryleigh's Doc's DH is the same trade as me, but I have never worked with him.
Anyway...enough about my stuff! I have been feeling off for the last couple of days, not sure what it is. I have had abdominal crampiness, but not like with AF...I don't usually get cramps like this, or this early or last this long! I also got really dizzy when I got out of bed this morning to get Ryleigh. Weird! I'm sure these are all FPS, but we will know for sure soon enough!
I hope you all have a great weekend!

OctoberPrincess - no, I'm in central NJ.
Thanksgiving felt like it flew by this year! I can't believe it's less than a month until Christmas!
How are you guys handling a Christmas tree with your toddlers? Gating it off, not putting one up, just lights?
We're not sure yet. Since we're not even going to be here, we talked about not putting one up. Especially since DH is travelling for 2 weeks on business in Dec, I'd be doing it by myself. Plus, I have quite an extensive collection of ornaments that are irreplaceable and I'd be very upset if they got broken. Since Claire is only 14 months old, she's not going to understand not to touch the tree. But not putting up a tree makes me kind of sad too. I dunno...
marathongirl

Duke's Flygirl - we cross posted! Keeping my fingers crossed that they were not FPS!
duke's flygirl
11-26-2005, 05:01 AM
Marathongirl: I hadn't thought about the tree...we are going to be at the IL's from the 22nd-the 26th, and then getting on a plane on the 27th until the 3rd...so we will probably not put one up, but it does make me sad too. I hear you on having irreplaceable ornaments. My mom collected ornaments for me every year, and still does, and if one of them were to get broken, I would be heartbroken too. And Ryleigh is very rough and tumble, and will only be 13 months old then, so the more I think (and type)about it, I will more than likely not put a tree up. We will have MIL's and my parents, and they can worry about their trees! I'm sure it will be me chasing my little monster all the time anyway!
I can't believe that in less than a month it will be Christmas either!
Abby'sMom
11-27-2005, 02:52 PM
Christmas tree - LOL, good question. We have two options really: 1) Put ornaments on only the highest branches, or 2) Put her baby playyard gate around the tree. I think #2 is winning so far. :)

Marathongirl one of my close friends lives in Manalapan, we plan to move their in about 7 years.
Christmas Tree I have been thinking about it and I'm still not sure what to do, I was thinking I would put it up 2 weeks before Christmas and buy some cheap ornaments like bows and gold balls so that DS doesn't break any of my special ornaments.
oops, got a call...more later........

x-mas tree Nope not this year. We had to move to an appartment temporarily while we look for a house and we have no space. Either way, we spend x-mas with family so we really don't even need one.

x-mas tree - we're leaning towards not putting one up this year. DH is going to be out of town for the next two weeks and we're going to his parents for Christmas, so we won't even be home. I just don't have the time/energy to do it myself. It does make me really sad though, not putting a tree up.

Duke's Flygirl Congrats! I had a feeling it would be you ;) . H&H 9 months to you!
My temp went up considerably this morning at 10 DPO. I decided to take a test (Dollar store) and it was BFN. I figured it would be. It's still early but PMS is rearing her ugly head, man I am in a pissy mood today! I fell asleep last night at 7pm or so, I was soooo tired. So I will see if my temp is still this high tomorrow and test again if it is (maybe).

I am just dying to begin TTC now but need to wait a few more months due to just having the chix vaccine, trying to wait to the 1 year mark of being cancer free (thyroid) and being sure that the construction on our new home will be ready in time for a new addition.
I've been charting to avoid for the past 17 months since I was on coumadin (blood thinner) and then the cancer crap. This time I think we won't do the temp thing but focus more on CF. I was truely obsessed with temping.
Congrats Duke's Flygirl on your BFP!

Welcome, Jenny! As for charting, have you read "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" by Toni Wechsler? It is a great book and really helps you get started with charting. Also, the ladies in the TTC with Charting threads are extremely helpful.

Marathongirl I am so jealous my skin is green! My girlfriend just announced she is pg again, due end of July. Our 1st sons are exactly 5 weeks apart in age. I wish her & I could have been pg together again. Hopefully, I'll only be a few months behind her but the wait is driving me batty!
Welcome Jenny!
Yes, my life has been up in arms. But it is getting better. So far my tumor markers are great. These indicate the lack or growth of any residual cancer cells. I opted not to get the radioactive iodine after the surgery & my endo said she could not strongly recommend it, so instead of secluding myself from everybody for 14 days we went the frequent-blood-draw checking way. I keep praying that we didn't make a mistake.
As for my house, well, I think this was DH's way of dealing with the cancer diagnosis. He threw himself into seeking out re-zoning, architecture & permitting that he didn't have much time to think about anything else. Here was the original house that we moved out of in order to knock it down & rebuild it. Pieces of it anyway:

Congratulations, Abby'sMom!!
Okay, I confess that I'm having serious BFP envy here. :o
I'm trying to be logical, rather than emotional, about our decision to wait until early 2006 to start TTC but it's getting hard. Anyone feeling the same way? I know that in the end we'll be glad we waited the few extra months but right now I'm so jealous! Maybe it will help me to list some of the reasons that we're waiting.
-DS is rather high needs (read: doesn't STTN, yet) and a few extra months might get his sleep into a better pattern.
-DS is still BF and I don't want to wean him, yet, and I'm afraid that my milk supply will drop if I get pregnant.
-We're looking at bigger houses right now and I really don't want to move in the throes of m/s and first trimester fatigue.
-I think, considering DS's personality, that a 24-month and up age difference would be better.
-I started my part-time job in June and I want to be there for well over a year when #2 comes.
-I'm hoping to get DS into a daycare or mom's morning out program in January.
-Saving up for a bigger car. I drive a two-door now. ;)
With #2 I'm really worried about childcare for two (cost!!). Anyone else?

bluebunny - I could have written your list of reasons for wanting to wait. I also didn't want 2 under 2. Right now (and this might be kind of a silly reason) I want each child's birthday to be special. If I got PG this month or next, their birthdays would be really close together.

marathongirl, Bucktown, ajlanden, thanks for your words of support. I guess part of me wishes I was one of those moms who felt like I could handle two under two. Sometimes I wonder if I can even handle two at all. :( Parenting is so hard!!
marathongirl, I've thought about the birthday thing, too. I also started thinking about how difficult it might be to have a December baby. My sister and mom were both born in December and I've always felt like they got cheated in some respects by having a birthday so close to Christmas. Don't get me wrong, I'll take a baby whenever I can get pregnant but it has crossed my mind.
Bucktown, I'm glad there's someone else waiting until February! Maybe we'll be lucky and get BFPs together!
ajlanden, I can totally see how your mindset would change after a m/c. I had one before my son and although that pregnancy was planned, it made me realize that we'd be happy with the timing of any pregnancy as long as we got a baby! :)
******
As I mentioned above, we're house hunting. We were just casually looking but now we're actually serious about it. We have a three bedroom, two and a half bath house right now and are looking for something a little larger. Ideally, we'd like a four bedroom with extra rooms, like a separate living room, dining room or office. We'd really like a house with a basement but those are hard to come by around here.

dzmattie - welcome!
Not much going on here. I know we missed the egg this month. DH's travel schedule is crazy so TTC may take some time simply due to that.
Honestly, I don't know if I'll ever be really ready to officially TTC #2. My day started at 3:50am with DD. I have no idea how I'd be able to handle two like that. This sleep deprivation thing is the pits!!! I can count on one hand the number of times I've gotton five consecutive hours of sleep in the last 15 months. Everyone tells me you won't get 2 non-sleepers in a row, but I'm afraid to find out the hard way. Maybe you just roll with the punches better. I'm really not looking for 12 hours of beauty rest, but I'd certainly like 6. That's six consecutive hours, not in 2 hour increments. Am I expecting too much? I figured by 15 months old, DD could give me that. OK - enough of my vent.
Hope everyone is off to enjoy their weekend!

dzmattie & Jenny Welcome!
Marathongirl So sorry you are still having sleep issues. Finally the only thing that worked for us was CIO and we could not go in there at all. I only went in there if DS got hysterical cause I knew he would not calm down, but it was a long, very difficult process since I wouldn't let him CIO forever. We still use that technique to this day. Like I said, it's the only thing that helped us and it took us a long time to get to where we are at. I just couldn't do my work anymore and it was starting to show. Since I am the breadwinner, I was afraid of getting fired, so we had no choice left open to us anymore. My suggestion (if you want it), choose a method that you think will work for you and that you feel comfortable with. Give it 2 weeks. If that doesn't work, try another method. Joseph took at least 2 weeks of consistency before he made any real changes. Even my parents say he is persistent after seeing his normal behavior. {{HUGS}}, thinking of you!!

I'm falling behind on this thread - really busy (and terrible) week at work. TGIF!!!!
Marathongirl & bluebunny I feel the same as both of you - constantly wondering if I can handle two at all. I don't have any sleep issues, as Claire is usually in bed by 7, and does not make a sound until 7-8 the next morning. ( I know, we're very blessed!) But, even today, I just felt like I was counting the minutes until bedtime after I got home from work. She's a good child, but she always wants someone to play with her, etc. etc. I often wonder if she will ever be able to play by herself and let Mommy read a magazine or do some work!!! If DH weren't a SAHD, I really don't know if I would be persuing another child right now!!!
Well, it's CD18 and I'm gearing up to the big O. Hopefully it will be in the next few days, I really hope it's not one of those CD27+ O dates. We are trying to be dedicated to good timing this month, but DH ended up working all this week, and we've both been tired.
I'm really hoping for a BFP just before xmas!!
Must be off to start those Christmas cards!

Welcome, dzmattie! Glad to see a new "face". :)
I can count on one hand the number of times I've gotton five consecutive hours of sleep in the last 15 months.
marathongirl, I could have written that statement if it said 13 months instead of 15! I feel your pain!! That's one of the reasons that DH is not on board with TTC right now; he's not convinced that we won't get two non-sleepers in a row. I'm just praying we won't because I don't know how I'll survive. When DS was 11 months old, we tried CIO for a few nights (even though I was extremely anti-CIO) and it didn't work. Maybe it would have if we had been consistent but it was miserable for all of us and I couldn't bear to do it again. I really wish there was a magic solution to the problem. Maybe we should start a thread on sleep problems past the first year?
jeggink, I think you're onto something with your suggestion of two weeks of consistency. Perhaps we haven't given any method enough of a chance. Are you still BF? How did you nightwean? I think part of the problem is that, ironically enough, we're too tired to be consistent. :o Maybe if we tried harder, we could have DS sleeping better. Any other suggestions would be great!!
Dawny, glad we're not the only ones with some apprehension about having two. Good luck this month!

Any other reports? Any news?
For those of you who are pregnant with #2 will you still keep in touch?

12-09-2005, 07:12 PM
SLEEP - We felt like alot of you seem to do about the sleep. DS is now 22 months - and we still don't get consistent sleep although it has been much much better for 6 months or so. We didn't completely do CIO - we call it our "modified" version - just read alot of the books and tried to be consistent and eventually were able to get him to sleep all night. He is a dream for going to sleep which is wonderful - it is now just an issue with the time he wakes in the AM (normally around 5:30 or 6am - ugh) I do not know what we will do if our next was as much of a problem sleeper as DS was - it took us till 15 months or so before we got it under control (so to speak!).
I am really worried with #2 about the recovery after the birth - it took me 8 weeks to even be able to walk normally - I had a vaginal delivery but a 4th degree tear so it was really bad. I just don't know how I will manage that (it would be rare to happen again) and a toddler...plus with breastfeeding and lack of sleep - I am a bit scared. I know that I want another baby and that once I am pregnant I will be so excited - I guess all the other stuff will fall into place! I am so interested in how moms with two do it - I have been following some of the storied in the parenting thread for encouragement!
IT is nice to find you all here! I am looking forward to the "journey"!

Bluebunny I have some of the same worries for having baby #2. After a discussion about timing, DH and I are waiting until March to TTC. But I think more like February b/c it may take a cycle or 2 ;) Our first came as a surprise, so we are hoping that conceiving this time will be just as easy. DS will be over 2 when the new baby is born and hopefully more dependant. Our little one doesn't STTN yet either. I guess we are so used to him waking up 2 times a night and coming to bed with us that we just don't fight it. I guess we are secretly hoping he will do it on his own.
So I will just have to hold myself back from checking the preggo threads each month and secretly wishing I got a BFP too:( Well for a couple of months so not too bad:p

bluebunny Yes, we do BF and we have been completely night weaned for several months now. That was one of the 1st parts of the process. I am not really sure exactly how I did it anymore, its all a blur due to being so sleep deprived. Bue I think if he rooted I just didn't give it to him and after a few minutes he figured out I wasn't going to give him anything. I think that was essential to starting to sleep train. You could also try having your DH put him to sleep. I also tried the "once I put you in you crib for the night, you are staying in there" approach. That also seemed to help a bit as you cn stay there for a while with them so they don't feel so alone, but I never took him out of his crib until ~4am or so. He still gets up at 5 or so and I bring him to us, but I am working on that being 6 and just getting up so I can completely wean him.
Uh-oh, DS is up from his nap.

dzmattie, glad we're not the only ones that had a hard time getting sleep under control. Right now, I would love it if he woke up early if he would only go to bed and stay asleep!! As for recovery, I didn't have it as bad as some but I was definitely in a lot of pain for several weeks. I couldn't sit normally for at least two weeks due to pain. Then, at 12 weeks PP, I had to go back to the doctor because my episiotomy had "overhealed" and had to be recut. :( Not fun. Maybe next time will be easier for both of us.
CurlyT, the waiting is hard!! We had tentatively said January or February but I'm starting to lean more towards March, too. I don't want another October baby simply so I won't be having #2 around DS's birthday. I'm also thinking that a 26-month difference might be better and so conceiving in March would give us a December baby. What we'll probably do is "see what happens" in January and February and then I'll start charting in March if we're not pregnant, yet. I charted last time and while I liked having a chart to look at, it did make me more obsessed about TTC. I'm hoping that we'll get pregnant without having to do that.
jeggink, I think nightweaning would definitely help us. I'm just not sure how to go about it. We tried for about a week when DS was 11 months and it was basically a week without sleep because DS just cried for hours and wouldn't go back to sleep. We tried last night for DS's first waking but he cried for over a half hour and we gave up. :( It has gotten to the point that we're too tired to keep trying. Terrible, I know. If you have any other suggestions or could remember better what y'all did that might help, that would be great. I'm open to all advice.

What a week! We had our first snowstorm of the season on Thursday. Dropped about 9 inches in 6 hours. Unfortunately, it was the day we were planning on visiting DH's grandmother in the hospital (it was close to the end). DH had to work most of the day so we left around 2:30 pm (beginning of rush hour & snow started to fall heavy). It took us 4.5 hours to drive 25 miles. Oh man was it wreached! A few times we almost turned around but something kept telling me to tough it out. We stayed for about an 1.5 hours then said our goodbyes. The next morning we found out she passed away while we were walking to the hospital parking lot to head for home. I am so glad we continued through all that mess. I know I would have felt guilt for the rest of my life if we hadn't.
Sleep & #2
We are one of the fortunate one's. DS has been sleeping through the night since around 9 months. Of course it took us a month to get him to that point. Our pediatrician worked in Weissbluthes' (HSHHC) practice so she was pro-sleep training when he hit 8 months, I think. Prior to this, he slept most of the night in bed with us. DH, DS got tons of sleep. I got none. We had to get him back in his crib which he hated & get him to sleep through the night. I borrowed an air mattress & slept next to his crib for 2 or 3 nights soothing him when he woke or giving him his paci. Within 3 nights he was sleeping well. We went a few more months with occassional night wakings but all we do is go in without talking, give him his paci/blanky/stuffy & walk out. He goes right back to bed. Now the paci thing is going to be brutle to break. We are down to only 1 in the house. When that goes they are gone for good. Ugh.
You know, maybe those who have children who aren't sleeping through the night will have an easier time with #2 coming home. You will be use to the lack of sleep. For me to go backwards I think will kill me. ;)

12-10-2005, 02:17 PM
We are also still nursing so I think that may contribute to our sleep woes. DH puts her to bed for the night (at least she goes down easily, but that was a battle for several months) but during the night only I can soothe her b/c she justs wants to nurse. I don't bring her into bed with us until 4am at the earliest. I hate letting her cry, but I can't sway with her all night. Part of the problem is that at this point, I'm so sleep deprived that I find it hard to stick to any one method. I just want to get DD back to sleep as quickly as possible so I can get some rest. But I'm just saying much of what you other ladies have already said.
Hope everyone has a good weekend and gets some rest!

QOTD-I am so excited to be pg again, because this time I know the end result. The first time it was like this thing I couldn't even imagine in my head. This time, I know what you get at the end. Is anyone even more excited (and probably scared too!) for #2?

Hope everyone is doing well. This holiday season is busy! It is fun to be able to get out and about since last year DS was less than 8 weeks old and I felt homebound. I am looking forward to next year and being either pregnant or with a newborn. :)
QOTD: Not pregnant, yet, but I'm more nervous about the next pregnancy than the last. Last time I was nervous about having a m/c. This time I will be more nervous about handling two BECAUSE I know what it's like to have a newborn. ;)
I'm actually feeling much better about having two. I don't know what happened; I had all these feelings of being overwhelmed but I'm strangely at peace with getting pregnant again. I guess that means the time is right. We'll probably still hold off on trying until February or March but we won't be preventing. The only thing that I'm still very concerned about is how we'll manage childcare for two. I guess we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.

QOTD - I'm super excited to be PG again b/c I had such a wonderful pregnancy with Claire. No m/s, backaches, or aches of any kind really. I felt really great the whole time, except for being super tired the first tri. I ran until I was 24 weeks, then walked and did lights weights everyday for the remainder. I probably won't have the luxury of doing that the second time around. I'm really nervous about having 2 in case the 2nd baby doesn't sleep either. Then I think about how am I going to get everyone packed to get out of the house and DH travels a lot for work so I'm a little scared about handling 2 by myself. I guess a lot can change by the time #2 arrives.

I'm behind again...
Hugh congrats to ajlanden!!
QOTD Well, not pregnant yet, but I am so excited about the idea right now! I think I'm way more excited that with #1. With Claire, I was really excited about the pregnancy, but now I am really excited about another baby, and just hope the pg gows by quickly and uneventfully. I did have severe morning sickness with Claire (from 6 weeks to 7 months!! ) and was on medication for most of the PG. This is my biggest worry. I really hope I don't have MS this time.
CD22 here, and I finally Oed!! Temp was up this am. DH asked me what my temp was, and I told him it was up and that it looks like I oed. He and Claire were out shopping today, and when I got home from work he told me he bought me a present and that it was in my underwear drawer. I think "Hmmmm, that's really weird" and go look for it. He bought me a two pack of HPTs!!! :) He's so cute! I thought it was really sweet.
So here I am in my first official 2WW of TTC#2!!! I'm going to go crazy until I can test! BD timing was good, but we didn't DTD last night, and of course, I O'ed sometime yesterday. Hopefully our chances are still good. I'm so excited! I doubt I'll make it past 9 0r 10 dpo before testing - I have no willpower.
Off to grade some assignments.

Can I join in? I finally got my first PP AF (DS is/was (we may be done) breastfed). We weren't expecting it to take this long. Actually, we were hoping to be pregnant again by now. But, we tell each other we get to enjoy it being just DS for this much longer.
So now we're ready to TTC #2! My first pregnancy was fine, some m/s, fatigue, and swollen ankles, but that's about it. DS was a large baby, and I always measured ahead (sometimes by as much as 5 or 6 weeks). I was induced and ended up with a c/s. We'll try for a VBAC this time around. Man, it feels funny to actually say these things, until now, TTC again was not even possible since I hadn't had AF. Eek! :)

Welcome Adam's Pie. Our #1's are 2 days apart. :)
QOTD I am very excited about getting pg again. I'm sooooo ready. My pregnancy was ok I suppose. I had constant nausea till 15 weeks & was super tired as well. The 3rd tri my right middle back hurt so bad I could only sit or stand for 30 minute at a time. Then I'd have to lie down for an hour. That won't be an option this time! My problems came 4 days after delivery (C-section). I had multiple blood clots that broke off from my legs & lodged in my chest. I thank God everyday DS & I are alive. Anyway, my challenge will be injecting 2x's daily Heparin so I don't clot again. Scarey, yes, but not enough to stop me from wanting another one.
Dawny, that's really sweet of your DH. Mine is oblivious to these things. Can't change that I suppose.
Marathongirl, The fun really starts now!
ajlanden, Stick baby stick! Thinking of you & the little one. I too cried the day my son turned 1. I think we all do, no?

Welcome Adam's Pi. I remember you from the WC. I think we share a wedding date (June 29, 2002)??
Bucktown Yeah, he totally floored me with that one. He's usually not that attentive to the small details. I told it it was quite possibly the most romantic thing he has done for me inthe past 13 years. (is that pitiful??)
ajlanden Sending you a million sticky vibes. I hope everything is okay with you and the baby.
Well, 2DPO, and I'm already totally obsessing  . Had to pee a million times today, and my bbs are already sore! I was so irritable today that I literally barked out orders and lectured my grade 9's for about a 1/2 hour today. Poor kids. I know this is too soon for preggo symptoms, but a girl has to obsess in the 2ww, right?

Tried to post yesterday but my computer was having issues, I dont' really have time this AM (have to be out of the house by 10) but wanted to let everyone know that AF arrived last week....on to month 4 of ttc.....frustrating!
Congrats to all of you who have been so lucky as to get a BFP, I am very jealous!

Welcome Nutter13! I charted while ttc DS but just can't seem to get into it this time...I think it's because I don't work and charting would mean I would actually have to wake up at the same time each morning thus setting my alarm clock which (if he's still sleeping) would potentially wake up DS, when I could possibly still have been sleeping.
ajlanden I hope things are progressing well, please keep us posted.
Hope everyone is doing well. I'm on CD 10 and considering running out to buy some OPK's, I have never done them before but figure I will try them before charting again.....

12-16-2005, 09:24 AM
Well I'm on CD18 and still no O in sight! So frustrating :( I'm using OPK's as well. This is my first cycle off BCP though. Last time I got off my first cycle was 39 days and I O'd on CD25 so I'm hoping I will O within the next week. It's a lot harder BDing when you've got a toddler running around! The only time it seems is when DD has gone to sleep at night or naps on weekends, by then we're both exhausted! Anyone else on BCP have a crazy first cycle?
QOTD: How many cycles did it take to conceive DC#1?
It took us 3 cycles, but 2 of them were over 35 days so it seemed a lot longer :)

Welcome, nutter13!
marathongirl, sorry about this cycle. :( Did you have a problem with short LPs last time?
QOTD: It took us two cycles to conceive the first time but I miscarried. Then it took three more cycles after the m/c to conceive DS. The first cycle after m/c was almost 60 days (57 or 59?) and then the next was about 34 days. I tend to have long cycles (34-35 days) anyway. I never minded before TTC.
marathongirl
12-18-2005, 12:35 PM
QOTD - it took us about 7 months to conceive DD. I say months instead of cycles b/c when I came off the Pill, I had a 90+ day cycle that was finally over after a round of provera.
bluebunny - yes, short LPs were a problem last time. DD was conceived on our first round of clomid. Considering my last 3 cycles have only had 7-8 day LPs, I'm tending to think we may have the same problem. :(

Sorry about AF Marathongirl.
Welcome Nutter!
QOTD We conceived DS on the second cycle. Not sure what to expect TTC #2 since this would be the first pg without my thyroid.
I'm a little freaked right now since I'm late. I've been having 26-29 day cycles with O happening on the CD10-12. Today is CD31. DH & I spent a night in a resort over this past O days but used protection. It was our first night without DS so we *emh* enjoyed ourselves.
If it was any other month I'd be super excited but since I had that damn chicken pox virus shot on 11/14 and was told to wait 3 mo. -minimum 1 month- to get pg I'm scared to death. I've read nothing but negative things about virus exposure and the first tri so PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE AF show your head one more time!
I did test on Friday which came back negative but I'm having way too many symptoms like my last pregnancy. Ugh. Hopefully they are all in my head. If she doesn't show again on Wednesday I'll retest.

12-18-2005, 04:46 PM
marathongirl, would your doctor put you on Clomid again? I don't know much about short LPs except what I've read in TCOYF. What else can they do to lengthen them?
Bucktown, I can understand your concern. I would be afraid, too! I hope AF shows up.
**********
Well, in other news, we are in negotiations with a seller for a house. We just countered their counter-offer and our real estate agent seems to think they'll take it. :) The house needs a lot of updating but I'm excited! (I'm already thinking about how to decorate a nursery!!)

12-19-2005, 05:44 AM
Bucktown - I hope AF does show for you this month on account of your chicken pox shot.
bluebunny - I had to switch docs once I got PG b/c my old OB stopped delivering babies. I guess due to the sky-high cost of malpractice insurance in NJ. My new doc was kinda surprised the old one gave me clomid - I wasn't being monitored or anything. I don't know what will happen this time. As far as short LPs, the only thing I know is taking vitamin B6, but I hesitate to do that since we're still BF'ing.
We finally put up a tree this weekend but decided to just do lights. That way I don't have to worry about ornaments breaking and we're leaving for upstate NY on Thursday anyway.
Hope everyone has a good week!

marathongirl, I would be tempted to meet with your doctor and find out what else can be done. Good idea about no ornaments. I debated and debated about putting up a tree and we haven't, yet. I hate not having a tree up but our house is small and there was no good place for it that wouldn't be in DS's way.
Bucktown, thank goodness!!

Thanks for the welcomes, everyone!
QOTD It took us 8 cycles (most were long ~34 days) to concieve DS. I'm not naive enough anymore to think we'll be pg anytime soon--I learned my lesson.
I'm just so thrilled I actually had a period! It had been over two years since my last period. It was actually textbook, too, which I know really means nothing, but I was anticipating a really bad one, which is what everyone says happens with your first few PP AFs.
I'm temping, so I'm excited to see what happens with my temps, when I'll O, and how long my LP will be.

Things are still plugging away here. I am still WAY nervous. After my m/c, I am just can't relax and enjoy. I have appointment with the nurse practioner on Wed. I don't think anything exciting will happen. I hope I can talk them into doing an u/s in the next couple weeks!

Hey it looks like today is an auspicious day to sign up since Lady1297 already did! Anyhoo, I'm here to sign up as well. I've been lurking on and off for the last month or so, today was the last day of pills for me.
Stats:
Name: Octoberkate (just call me Kate)
Married: 10-13-02
DS#1: Alex 4-5-04
TTC since: 12-20-05
Anyhoo, so here's my situation, I've been on the pill for about 18 months now and I was on it before we TTC'd Alex. I've always been perfectly normal and regular on it. I went off the pill in mid may and by the end of July we were pregnant with Alex last time. I wanted to wait to TTC so Alex would already be at least 2.5 yrs old before any potential second child arrived and, with that in mind, we decided we'd start with this next cycle.
But now for the weirdness. This whole last month on the pill (the generic for orthotricyclen) I've had bleeding every day. Not just the "period" week, but every day. That's a little weird no? I didn't call the OB because, well, I haven't had a chance. I work at a desk in a little cube farm and that wasn't exactly something I wanted to be shouting about. Plus I figured I'd be off the pill soon and we'd see what would happen then.
So now I have no clue what's up with my cycle. I should be starting the period week next week, today I took my last pill. I've got a basal thermometer and theoretically a chart on FF, but who knows if I'll actually manage to remember to take my temperature and chart on any regular basis. I guess we'll see!
Anyhoo, I can't wait to "meet" you all and get started on this journey.

8 DPO today, and a (very light) BFP this morning!!!! I'm such a sucker for testing early. Got my BFP with #1 on 9DPO.
It's quite light, but most definately a line!!!! I'll test again tomorrow and hope for a darker line. DH looked at it and just said, but it's not a bright line like that one (the control line). I just laughed at him of course.
September baby, here we come!!

ajlanden - I'm so happy you gave us an update! I have everything crossed that things continue in a positive direction!
Dawny - super, happy congrats!!! Have a very happy, healthy 9 months! September is a great month to have a baby (DD is a Sept '04 baby) :D ! Geez - this means I'll have to start congratulating the Sept '06 mommas  ! Where has the time gone?!?!
Welcome lady1297 & octoberkate!!! Hope your stays here are short!
Adam'spi - Hope you get the egg this month!
bucktown - glad AF arrived for you this month!
DD and DH are both sick! Ugh! Honestly, I think DH is more of a baby about it than DD. They both have colds. DD goes for her 15 month WBV tomorrow. I'm curious to see how much she has grown - only it does mean more shots for her :( . Plus I think DD is cutting molars - she has been in a mood the past few days.
DH is done work for the rest of the year! Yippee! I'll get a few days break with him being home! Plus I just like having him around ;) .

Here's my short story. I've never used BC pills because I totally stink at remembering to take them. So, we started TCOYF prior to getting married in 2002. We did this with occasional preventions until Nov 2002. At that time we decided to see what happened if we didn't worry about preventing anymore. Dec. 19 I took a test cause my bb's hurt like demons for three weeks and I was tired ALL the time. Low and behold BFP! The same night we decided not to care, we got pregnant!
So, AF reappeared this past April. I don't chart perse anymore since DS still gets up at all kinds of crazy hours. So I just keep an eye on my mucouses. We've sworn off barriers since then and have just avoided anything around ovulation. So far so good, no pregnancy which we wanted. So now, we've decided to let things go and not try to prevent anymore once this cycle is past. So come January, we'll be full force not caring if we get prenant. I doubt it will be as easy as last time, but I pray it will happen quickly. We want #2 and our son to be close in age and feel 2 years is good. I look forward to being pregnant again and having a little one to hold. But I do love the age my son is now (16 months) because of how independent he is. I'm worried about how I'll nurse 2 and how a baby will affect my relationships and if my post partum depression will return like last time.

Welcome lady and octoberkate! Wishing you both quick BFP'S.
Congrats to Dawny as well!!!
I just finished all of my holiday baking. 7 different types of cookies. Don't know what I was thinking. Need to make a three cheese pumpkin lasagna on Friday & hopefully I should be finished.
I have a QOTD but not at all related to TTC. I'm a SAHM & it's been so flipping cold here I don't take DS out much unless really necessary (it's been in the single digits plus a wind chill). We aren't even halfway thru winter & I'm already crawling out of my skin with cabin fever. I've done tons of research online for things to do in our area but since we are in a major city parking to get into these things is outrageous & public transportation isn't an option right now cause it's too cold to walk DS to the stops. My question is: What are you ladies doing with your DC to escape the blahs????
Bucktown
12-20-2005, 07:42 PM
Marathon girl wanted to add that I was sorry to hear your DH/DD are sick with colds. I know exactly what you mean about DH being a 'baby'. My DH lays himself up on the bed for days if he gets a measley cold. Then has the gall to tell me he doesn't want to help with DS cause he might get him sick. Funny, I still have to care for DS when I'm sick & he doesn't DH doesn't seem to mind if I run the risk of getting DS sick. :p

12-21-2005, 07:58 AM
Dawny - Yup, same Kate - that's me! Congrats on baby number two again!
Re: QOTD - what to do in the winter: We've been having similar problems. I'm not a SAHM, but even on the weekends we need to do SOMETHING because my house is just too small for us all to be happy w/o getting cabin fever. I've been trying to do more "projects" - art projects, playdough, etc to entertain Alex and keep him a little more contained. We do, however, do a bunch of general running around errands. Parking in the city stinks (I live in a DC suburb and only take public transportation in to the city because I hate dealing with parking and driving downtown). But could you drive out to a suburb? Are there any good malls with indoor play places? Or some of our county recreation centers have "soft play" rooms, similar to the rooms for gymboree classes - you can play in them for something like $3-$5 even if you're not a county resident - ditto the county indoor pools, you can swim, even if not a resident, for $3-5 for a go. Maybe something like that would be a good break?

octoberkate- so good to see you, I was in the WC's April 04 Mommies with you, I was nsshirley. I've been on BCP the past 18 months as well, just went off at the end of November. I'm charting on FF as well and my old charts from TTC#1 are still up and my first cycle off this time is almost identical to my first cycle off last time. Long cycle with late O.
Today is my birthday and I think I'm O'ing today, CD23, I've had two positive OPKs today and yesterday. It is so much harder BD with a toddler! The only time we seem to have is at night! We will see what the next few days temps will be, what a nice birthday gift! I was getting kind of worried that O would not happen...
octoberkate
12-21-2005, 08:39 AM
Nutter! - Hello - wow, how fun to see so many familiar faces! I remember it took me the longest time to realize that your "real" name wasn't shirley... Good luck with cathing that O! You are right, BDing with a toddler is so much more difficult - for us it's not even finding the time, but also finding the energy. By the time I've gotten home from work, made dinner, played with Alex, put Alex to bed, cleaned up the dishes and cups and kitchen mess, done whatever chore needs to be done etc I just want to sleep, forget anything that requires any, uh, activity on my part. Oh well...
General Question re: OPKs - do you all order them or buy them in stores? Is there a brand that is "better"? Since my cycle has been so screwed up this time, even while on the pill, and now I'm just barely off the pill, I thought it would be best to have as much information as I can have handy - opk's seem like a good tool to use.
nutter13
12-21-2005, 09:16 AM
ocotberkate - I know what you mean about having energy! I'm exhausted at the end of the day as well.
re:OPKs I buy the generic Target brand, they've always worked well for me. $15 for 7, not too bad. Since this cycle was so long, I've gone through 3 boxes
marathongirl
12-21-2005, 01:14 PM
OPKs - they never worked too well for me. Maybe I just never tested at the right time  . Anyway, I have the clearblue Easy fertility monitor so we'll go that route again.
Being indoors - I don't know what we're going to do this winter. Last winter I walked the mall a lot, but Claire isn't thrilled about being confined to a stroller anymore. One mall near me has a kid's play place, so we may spend some time there. And I have a play group that meets once a week.
Even though I'm home all day, I find it hard to have the energy to even think about doing the necessary activity to get PG. Also, Claire is usually climbing on me all day, so I'm honestly pretty 'touched-out' by the time DH gets home.
Anyway, we're off to the ILs tomorrow. Hope everyone has a good holiday!

Congrats Dawny! I have a Sept. 2004 baby :)
I see some EWCM all day and we BD last night and Monday night:p We will see if we will have another Sept. baby!
QOTD: It's very cold these days and when I am home on the weekends, we try and go out running errands and walks around the mall b/c it's too small for me and Nicholas to stay indoors. I feel bad when he watches Noggin network all day:rolleyes: . I wanted to bring him into NYC this weekend but stupid transit strike is driving me crazy!
Have a good evening ladies!
