FDA doesn’t regulate vitamins or supplements and Airborne claims to be an herbal supplement. They just have to careful what claims they make.

Never took this stuff myself.

Wow. I hope it’s clear on the packaging that it shouldn’t be taken by anyone pregnant or intending to conceive, since vitamin A is linked to birth defects. And just for a bit of light reading, here is the wikipedia page on Vitamin A overdose (Hypervitaminosis A)

I had what I thought was a cold last January (turned out to be the flu), and was just about to take Airborne when I saw an article online about that. So I decided to just stick with the “lots of fluids/sleep” approach. Oh, and Tamiflu too when I found out it was the flu!

It has never worked for me. Plus, having a cold is almost preferable to dealing with the disgusting taste. Yuck!

I love the stuff myself. Though I will admit that what you’ve said about Vitamin A does give me pause, it seems to work for me. I seldom take more than 1 a day anyhow. Heck, even if it’s just the placebo effect, I still think it’s worth it.

I haven’t tried it, but several people I know swear by it. Now I know what to say next time they tell me to take it! How scary about the vitamin A thing, it seems like the FDA or someone should step in and make them change their recommendations.
