Your fear really touched me and made all the pictures on the newscasts real. Many safe thoughts for you and all of those in the SD area.

Our prayers are certainly with those of you to the south and east of us. God only knows if the winds will kick up and the fires we thought were so far away are at our doorstep as well…

Thinking lots of good thoughts for you, jesvet. I’ve been hearing that firefighters think they’re going to start to really get a handle of some of these burns today now that the winds have died down. We will all be hoping and praying.

Having grown up in the west, I’ve seen devastating fires - but none in as populated an area as San Diego. I’m thinking of you and all your neighbors. Please stay safe.

I feel very fortunate. The winds died down and the firefighters were able to stop the north flank from progressing. There’s still a big battle on the other front, though, and on many other fires in the region, so although I am relieved I’m still worried for everyone else. The firefighters are working on zero sleep- there are some real heroics going on around here.

I am so glad to read that the winds have turned in your favor Jess. I just saw a man crying on CNN because the volunteer firefighters were able to SAVE his home. He just kept repeating ‘they don’t even get paid! They don’t even get paid for this.’ All the while in tears.

Jesvet - I’m glad things are better for you today. I have such HUGE respect for our firefighters. They do an amazing job of protecting us - and it is not an easy job.
