At this point in what is turning out to be an extremely mediocre season of Heroes, I’m thankful for the smallest of favors, like an episode with no Wonder Twins of Death. Still, it really doesn’t make up for the fact that we’re now almost a quarter of the way through the season, and there doesn’t seem to be any really good arc developing. I think the theme is supposed to be the sins of the older generation coming back to haunt their children, but it’s unraveling in a ridiculously plodding and disjointed manner. I’m really starting to lose faith in this season’s narrative structure.
Anyway, we spend a lot of this episode over in Ireland, where Peter is enjoying his stud muffin status in Cork with his new lady love, who doesn’t mind at all that he can kill people with his mind. However, it seems to really bother her that his paintings are better than hers. Meanwhile, we meet yet another hero in the form of Kristen Bell, the Electric Girl who’s been sent to find Peter. She seems to be working for the Company, and judging by her pouting to “Daddy” (presumably the head of the Company) when she gets a little overzealous in her interrogations, she’s part of the second generation, too.
Meanwhile, “Daddy” is a busy man. He’s trying to release Molly from the Nightmare Man’s clutches, while also preventing Nikki/Jessica from escaping before she’s “cured.” Apparently her integration last season didn’t take. And he’s sent Suresh to bring Monica the Mimic in for “debriefing.” Unfortunately, now that the Molly is in the clutches of the Company, it’s only a matter of time before they start using her as leverage to get Suresh to do even more of their dirty work.
The one truly excellent set piece from this episode was the scene where Matt and Nathan meet Parkman Senior, a.k.a. the Nightmare Man. Apparently mind-reading is just the beginning of the power that Matt has tapped into. Nightmare Man traps both of them in their own worst nightmares and leaves them to fight each other, each one thinking he’s fighting an enemy. Now that we know how Molly has been trapped, it remains to be seen whether they can get back to the Company and rescue her, and if the Company will let her go willingly.

This show is definetly in a slump. Sigh, this was my favorite show last season and I used to think about each episode for hours afterwards. Now, I forget that I even watched it.

Peter back to NY with Nathan.
Get rid of the wonder twins.
Reveal the elder’s powers
Most of all move the plot along faster!!
