From 2002 to 2006 I lived about 40 miles south of Kennedy Space Center and got to “watch” some lift offs too. It’s pretty neat. I’m glad I never had to see one explode.

I’m a huge space geek. I so wanted to be an astronaut when I was little! Watching the Challenger incident is one of those memories I’ll never forget- our school was assembled to watch the first teacher in space.
Have you seen the redesigns for the new shuttle? I’m still hoping to do a space tourist thing before I die. :D :D :D

Woo hoo! I too am a space geek and love this post. I’ve seen a launch at KSC from the friends and family bleachers and in the viewing gallery at Mission Control at JSC in Houston. Both were completely different perspectives and way cool in their own ways. I worked for 2 NASA contractors after college and interned at JSC and Headquarters and a private contractor during college. I also got my MA in space studies.

Needless to say…I love space talk. ;)
