I did the same thing (in a different field) several years ago, and I'm so glad that I took that leap of faith! I recently started my dream job, and couldn't be happier!

Wow! The response I've gotten to this post has been unexpected - and fabulous :) I'm glad that so many people can relate to my little story. It's wonderful to (a) know that I'm not alone in this journey, and (b) see that putting it out there has encouraged others go "go for it." Good luck to you ALL!!

I needed to read this!
I have been thinking of a career change for quite some time, and I am in the middle stages of making it happen. I have taken a few courses and I am on my way. Congratulations on making the impossible inevitable. :)

I love this story. It's never to late to figure out what you really want to do. Actually, one of my best friends (finally, after much prodding from those of us who believed in her talent) recently quit her hated PR job to become a professional photographer. It hasn't been easy, but she's doing super well and is happier than she ever was in PR. It's inspiring and wonderful to see people make changes like this and reach for their dreams. I hope you have a long and fulfilling career in photography!

Your story is so inspiring. I'm trying to do the same thing (in a different field), and it is so intimidating and anxiety inducing.

Way to go! I have the same dream and have been "testing the waters" for far too long. I have no real excuse, other than my own fear of failure.

Hear hear!

My Dad always quotes Joesph Campbell "follow your bliss and don't be afraid, and doors will open where you didn't know they were going to be."
These are true words in my life, as it is for my DH, who struggled for years before finally allowing himself to follow his impossible dream.
