My son is now 11 and reads with a voracious appetite. It brings me so much joy to see him doing exactly what I did as a kid.

My daughter is 2 and by far her favorite thing to do is read books...she talks about her favorites all day long and reads them aloud to herself even (well she interprets the pictures) This whole story made me think of her and what a wonderful world of literature she has to look forward to as she grows up. Thanks!

I used to come home from the library with towering stacks of books. Not much has changed except that now I tend to have towering stacks of books (library, borrowed or purchased) by the side of my bed.

Jesvet, my dad learned early on that banishment to the room or going without TV didn't really bother me all that much. As long as I had books and a radio, I was perfectly, fine.

When I was little, my parents used to punish me by sending me to my room. It drove my sister crazy- because she knew that was my favorite place in the world. I'd curl up with a book and enjoy my punishment for hours. :D Reading is such a gift.

Amen! I have always been a huge reader! My dad would take me to the library and then lunch at McDonald's every single Saturday morning. This was partly to give my mom a break and partly for daddy/daughter time but it gave me a love of reading and books that continues to this day. I have always been grateful for that and intend to give my little ones the same gift. You certainly aren't alone in your love of reading!
