This is SUCH a valuable article and a great reminder to people to really check out new veterinarians that they are trying, and to also try, when possible, to get a referral to a new doctor.

Jake Marcotte...

An additional healthy benefit of having a dog is that you never feel pressured to eat every last bit on your plate because your dog is always happy to take the leftovers off your hands. Think of it as the dishwasher pre-rinse cycle with a tail....

Thanks for everything you do! As an owner of a rescued min pin, I'm horrified at the first story, though sadly, not surprised. I'm glad that the woman in the second story did as much as she could. Who knows why she couldn't take it in, but I'm glad she gave it a fresh start!

You know, I will never forget the doctor, Dr. Roe, that worked with Griff when he was attacked (both times) and later worked with us when our other dog came down with cancer. She cried right along with us when Cindy took a turn for the worse and we let her move on to a better place. Luckily, my former roommate ran into her at the local cat hospital and still now uses her for the cats (and Dr. Roe remembers both Griffin and Cindy).

Wow. I don't know how you are able to work at the emergency clinic. The few times I've had to bring our dog there I end up sobbing in the waiting room because of all the other animals there. I'm glad you were able to get some renewal in your faith in humanity.

Your last case is why my mother in law has a brand new kitty, who just happened to jump in her car at the McDonald's drive thru. She can't say no to a hurting animal, but at least she can take care of them (and her vet never turns in her in for having too many animals!).

Goodness. I have always loved our vet and the way she takes care of us as well as she takes care of our "babies," but this gives me a new respect for her.

Thank you for what you do...
