Thank you for posting this. It is wonderful to hear of adults who make an informed decision about their belief system. I grew up in a hard line catholic family. Even as an adult, I was strong in faith and Catholic observance and much more than my husband. I suffered a terrible family tragedy last year and lost faith in God and the Church. All of the Church’s words rang false to me during a time when nothing was going right.

I went to church for the first in a long time this weekend. I am a different person now. I also feel like it’s on my terms this time.

Oh, JennyLou, I’m so happy for you! I went through RCIA and was confirmed at Easter six years ago. It was without a doubt the best thing I have ever done in my life. I love the beauty (and, yes, structure) of the mass, and my decidedly anti-religious husband has even taken to going with me sometimes. My thoughts and prayers will be with you, and with all of the other candidates and catechumens this Lenten season. God be with you.
