For the past years, every ride in the car with my son has been an endless stream of irritating kiddie music. Sure, some is better than others; I actually like listening to Dan Zanes. But really, when I’m in the car, I want to get my NPR fix. See, right around Noah’s 1st birthday, I made the mistake of putting his music in the car. And since then, we haven’t been able to listen to anything but – to the point where if I try to tell him it’s mommy’s turn and change it to NPR, we get hysterics and screaming in the backseat. It’s just not worth it.
But for every car ride since Christmas, I’ve been singing the praises of Fisher Price. Why? Because these geniuses created a mp3 player for the preschool set – the Kid Tough FP3 player. Big buttons, practically indestructible, easy to use, and my favorite part, volume limited headphones so little ears don’t get hurt when little hands play with the volume button. And Noah got one for Christmas. Now, car rides are bliss. He sits in the back, happily listening to his music on his FP3 player, and I’m in the front, in NPR heaven. Plus, he looks pretty damn cute sitting back there bopping his head with his headphones on. See?
It’s even cuter when he starts singing.

That is the best invention ever. I wonder if my 15 month old would leave it on. Raffi gets pretty damn old after the third cycle through.
The more we get together, together, together…The more we get together the NUTTIER I’ll be.
